But one shouldn't forget that this same index has jumped more than 240% in the past five years, which means that a $5,000 investment in the index would be worth $17,000 now.
\n
Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD) stock has done even better over five years, rising over 1,850% and turning $5,000 into nearly $100,000. Rival graphics card specialist NVIDIA(NASDAQ:NVDA)has soared over 1,200% over a similar period. Both stocks have pulled back thanks to the tech sell-off, but these two stocks could deliver outsized gains over the next five years as well, thanks to the catalysts they are sitting on. Let's find out why.
\n
\n
1. Advanced Micro Devices
\n
AMD's fortunes have changed big time over the past five years. A competitive product lineup has allowed it to take market share away from Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) in the x86 processor market, a trend that's expected to continue in the next five years.
\n
AMD DATA BY YCHARTS
\n
AMD has made solid progress in the PC market through its Ryzen CPUs (central processing units) and Radeon GPUs (graphics processing units). According to the latest data from Steam Hardware Survey for April, AMD now controls almost 29.5% of the PC CPU space. It controlled 25% of the market in December 2020, with Intel holding the rest. Steam data is a credible source for PC market share information, as the platform is used by 120 million monthly active users worldwide.
\n
Meanwhile, Mercury Research estimates that AMD's desktop PC market share increased to 19.3% at the end of the first quarter, up from just 11.4% four years ago. It also holds 18% of the mobile CPU market. AMD's CPU market share is expected to jump as high as 50% in 2021 as per Wall Street. This doesn't seem surprising given thetechnology advantage AMD enjoys over Intel, as well as Chipzilla's troubles with getting its latest chips out of the gate.
\n
AMD has also turned on the heat in the laptop market. The company's Ryzen 5000 mobile processors are expected to power 50% more models this year and pave the way for more market share gains.
\n
Meanwhile, AMD has made solid progress in the server processor market, finishing Q1 with an 8.9% share. It was nowhere to be seen in server processors four years ago, but the arrival of the EPYC chips has given it a big shot in the arm. AMD is poised to take away more market share from Intel in servers in the coming years and could make billions of dollars from this space.
\n
On the other hand, the arrival of the latest gaming consoles from Sony and Microsoft that are powered by AMD's chips is moving the needle in a big way for the chipmaker. The PlayStation 5 has sold 7.8 million units so far. It is expected to sell over 200 million units over its lifetime, according to an analyst at Japanese firm Rakuten Securities, as compared to 116 million units of the previous generation PS4.
\n
What's more, AMD is reportedly getting 80% more revenue from each unit of the PS5 over the PS4. So, a combination of higher shipments and stronger revenue from each gaming console should unlock a massive revenue opportunity for the company in the long run. Not surprisingly, analysts expect AMD to deliver almost 30% annual earnings growth over the next five years -- making it a top growth stock where one can park $5,000 right now, given that it is trading at less than 28 times forward earnings.
\n
2. NVIDIA
\n
NVIDIA has come a long way in the past five years. The chipmaker has branched out into several fast-growing applications such as data centers, artificial intelligence, autonomous cars, and 5G wireless networks from supplying graphics cards for gaming PCs.
\n
NVDA DATA BY YCHARTS
\n
Gaming continues to be NVIDIA's biggest source of revenue, accounting for 46% of its top line last fiscal year. The segment's revenue was up 41% in fiscal 2021 to $7.7 billion, thanks to the launch of NVIDIA's new RTX 30 series graphics cards, which have set the sales charts on fire by triggering a massive upgrade cycle.
\n
NVIDIA estimates that 85% of its installed base is yet to upgrade to the RTX series cards, which pack a huge performance bump at aggressive price points over prior generation cards. That's a huge opportunity, as NVIDIA's installed base of gaming graphics cards stands at 140 million. More importantly, the company's new GPUs are driving an increase in the average selling price (ASP).
\n
The latest Ampere-based GPUs recorded an ASP of $360 in the first six months of their launch thanks to an increase in the proportion of customers buying higher-priced cards. That's 20% higher than the previous generation Turing cards that had an ASP of $300 in the initial six months, and well above the $245 ASP of the Pascal cards that were released five years ago.
\n
\n
So, NVIDIA's gaming business could keep growing at a terrific pace over the next five years thanks to a combination of strong volumes and improved pricing. Jon Peddie Research estimates that 41.5 million discrete GPUs were sold in 2020, and NVIDIA dominated this market with a share of 82% at the end of the year. This bodes well for NVIDIA's future, as the GPU market is expected to clock annual growth of nearly 34% through 2027 as per third-party estimates.
\n
Beyond gaming, NVIDIA is sitting on huge opportunities in nascent markets such as self-driving cars. The company has struck several partnerships in this space and has already lined up automotive design wins worth $8 billion for the next five years. This figure could keep growing thanks to NVIDIA's solid product roadmap, which indicates that it is working on more powerful self-driving platforms that should hit the market in the coming years.
\n
Throw in the fact that NVIDIA's terrific growth in the data center market won't be fading any time soon, and investors will have one more reason to hold on to this tech titan. The data center business generated $6.7 billion in revenue in FY21, up 124% year over year. It accounted for 40% of the total revenue. NVIDIA is now branching out into new areas to ensure that this business keeps growing at elevated rates.
\n
It recently announced the Grace CPU, a server processor that's expected to go on sale in 2023. But one shouldn't forget that this same index has jumped more than 240% in the past five years, which means that a $5,000 investment in the index would be worth $17,000 now.\nAdvanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD) stock has done even better over five years, rising over 1,850% and turning $5,000 into nearly $100,000. Let's find out why.\nIMAGE SOURCE: GETTY IMAGES.\n1. Advanced Micro Devices\nAMD's fortunes have changed big time over the past five years. A competitive product lineup has allowed it to take market share away from Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) in the x86 processor market, a trend that's expected to continue in the next five years.\nAMD DATA BY YCHARTS\nAMD has made solid progress in the PC market through its Ryzen CPUs (central processing units) and Radeon GPUs (graphics processing units). According to the latest data from Steam Hardware Survey for April, AMD now controls almost 29.5% of the PC CPU space. It controlled 25% of the market in December 2020, with Intel holding the rest. Steam data is a credible source for PC market share information, as the platform is used by 120 million monthly active users worldwide.\nMeanwhile, Mercury Research estimates that AMD's desktop PC market share increased to 19.3% at the end of the first quarter, up from just 11.4% four years ago. It also holds 18% of the mobile CPU market. AMD's CPU market share is expected to jump as high as 50% in 2021 as per Wall Street. This doesn't seem surprising given thetechnology advantage AMD enjoys over Intel, as well as Chipzilla's troubles with getting its latest chips out of the gate.\nAMD has also turned on the heat in the laptop market. The company's Ryzen 5000 mobile processors are expected to power 50% more models this year and pave the way for more market share gains.\nMeanwhile, AMD has made solid progress in the server processor market, finishing Q1 with an 8.9% share. It was nowhere to be seen in server processors four years ago, but the arrival of the EPYC chips has given it a big shot in the arm. AMD is poised to take away more market share from Intel in servers in the coming years and could make billions of dollars from this space.\nOn the other hand, the arrival of the latest gaming consoles from Sony and Microsoft that are powered by AMD's chips is moving the needle in a big way for the chipmaker. The PlayStation 5 has sold 7.8 million units so far. It is expected to sell over 200 million units over its lifetime, according to an analyst at Japanese firm Rakuten Securities, as compared to 116 million units of the previous generation PS4.\nWhat's more, AMD is reportedly getting 80% more revenue from each unit of the PS5 over the PS4. So, a combination of higher shipments and stronger revenue from each gaming console should unlock a massive revenue opportunity for the company in the long run. Not surprisingly, analysts expect AMD to deliver almost 30% annual earnings growth over the next five years -- making it a top growth stock where one can park $5,000 right now, given that it is trading at less than 28 times forward earnings.\n2. NVIDIA\nNVIDIA has come a long way in the past five years. The chipmaker has branched out into several fast-growing applications such as data centers, artificial intelligence, autonomous cars, and 5G wireless networks from supplying graphics cards for gaming PCs.\nNVDA DATA BY YCHARTS\nGaming continues to be NVIDIA's biggest source of revenue, accounting for 46% of its top line last fiscal year. The segment's revenue was up 41% in fiscal 2021 to $7.7 billion, thanks to the launch of NVIDIA's new RTX 30 series graphics cards, which have set the sales charts on fire by triggering a massive upgrade cycle.\nNVIDIA estimates that 85% of its installed base is yet to upgrade to the RTX series cards, which pack a huge performance bump at aggressive price points over prior generation cards. That's a huge opportunity, as NVIDIA's installed base of gaming graphics cards stands at 140 million. More importantly, the company's new GPUs are driving an increase in the average selling price (ASP).\nThe latest Ampere-based GPUs recorded an ASP of $360 in the first six months of their launch thanks to an increase in the proportion of customers buying higher-priced cards. That's 20% higher than the previous generation Turing cards that had an ASP of $300 in the initial six months, and well above the $245 ASP of the Pascal cards that were released five years ago.\nIMAGE SOURCE: GETTY IMAGES.\nSo, NVIDIA's gaming business could keep growing at a terrific pace over the next five years thanks to a combination of strong volumes and improved pricing. Jon Peddie Research estimates that 41.5 million discrete GPUs were sold in 2020, and NVIDIA dominated this market with a share of 82% at the end of the year. This bodes well for NVIDIA's future, as the GPU market is expected to clock annual growth of nearly 34% through 2027 as per third-party estimates.\nBeyond gaming, NVIDIA is sitting on huge opportunities in nascent markets such as self-driving cars. The company has struck several partnerships in this space and has already lined up automotive design wins worth $8 billion for the next five years. This figure could keep growing thanks to NVIDIA's solid product roadmap, which indicates that it is working on more powerful self-driving platforms that should hit the market in the coming years.\nThrow in the fact that NVIDIA's terrific growth in the data center market won't be fading any time soon, and investors will have one more reason to hold on to this tech titan. The data center business generated $6.7 billion in revenue in FY21, up 124% year over year. It accounted for 40% of the total revenue. NVIDIA is now branching out into new areas to ensure that this business keeps growing at elevated rates.\nIt recently announced the Grace CPU, a server processor that's expected to go on sale in 2023. This would be new territory for NVIDIA, and success here could supercharge the company's data center business, as the server processor market is expected to be worth $19 billion by 2023.\nSo, NVIDIA still has a lot of room for growth. Analysts forecast 20%-plus annual earnings growth for the next five years, though NVIDIA could do better if the new opportunities it is attacking bear fruit. In all, NVIDIA looks like a top stock where investors can park $5,000, as it is set for multi-year growth and trades at an attractive 36 times forward earnings as compared to 2020's average multiple of 46.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":789,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":183468305,"gmtCreate":1623341730407,"gmtModify":1631887421610,"author":{"id":"3582028498732884","authorId":"3582028498732884","name":"Guotiao","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/165db6598fc602b1a5c7c537c86b47d6","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582028498732884","idStr":"3582028498732884"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Geo Group Inc(GEO)$[喷血] ","listText":"$Geo Group Inc(GEO)$[喷血] ","text":"$Geo Group Inc(GEO)$[喷血]","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/0c616e3ce7474b12e094e52ab6cdd21b","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/183468305","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1229,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3447007083513761","authorId":"3447007083513761","name":"PMAM","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"authorIdStr":"3447007083513761","idStr":"3447007083513761"},"content":"空头现在在用自己手里有限的货打压股票价格做空赚钱,然后以更便宜的价格从散户投资者手中以更便宜的价格买更多GEO股票,所以散户投资者不要卖给空头机构任何手中的GEO股票,如果有闲钱,今天在低价继续买进! 最后空头不得不从散户投资者手中以非常高的价格买进股票来补自己做空的仓位才能保证自己不会被平仓!"}],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":100574830,"gmtCreate":1619625176720,"gmtModify":1634211220415,"author":{"id":"3582028498732884","authorId":"3582028498732884","name":"Guotiao","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/165db6598fc602b1a5c7c537c86b47d6","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582028498732884","idStr":"3582028498732884"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"I'm searching for a motivating stock lol to start off as newbie..seems the cyber security stock looks good","listText":"I'm searching for a motivating stock lol to start off as newbie..seems the cyber security stock looks good","text":"I'm searching for a motivating stock lol to start off as newbie..seems the cyber security stock looks good","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/100574830","repostId":"1129899601","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1129899601","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1619607898,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1129899601?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-04-28 19:04","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Investing in These Stocks Now Could Make You a Millionaire Retiree","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1129899601","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"It's much better to be a millionaire retiree than a thousandaire one. You're probably not going to become one, though, unless you take some steps toward it. One good way is to regularly invest meaningful sumsin the stock market, over a long period of time -- such as via a low-cost broad-market index fund.
\n
If you want to try to get to millionairehood sooner, you might try investing in some carefully chosen individual stocks -- perhaps in addition to investing in index funds. Zscaler
\n
Zscaler(NASDAQ:ZS)offers security technology for companies using various cloud services, and has been named the leader in secure web gateways by research firm Gartner. It has been growing briskly, with its stock increasing in value by more than sixfold over only about three years, since the company debuted on the public market. In its most recent quarter, revenue grew by 55% year over year, while billings jumped 71%. The company, recently sporting a market value near $26 billion, \"reached a new milestone by surpassing 5,000 customers during the quarter, including 500 of the Global 2000.\" Between fiscal 2016 and 2020, revenue grew more than fivefold.
\n
Zscaler has a \"big, audacious goal\" of reaching 200 million users and 100 million workloads, and in a presentation for investors, outlined a handful of growth drivers, such as upselling to existing customers, an increased presence in Japan and Latin America, and continuing technological innovations. The company has excelledat retaining customers and, indeed, at increasing the average amount they spend.
\n
One concern about Zscaler for investors may be that it has been posting net losses, not net income, in recent years. But that's not unusual for younger, smaller companies. They tend to plow as many dollars as possible into furthering their growth.
\n
2. Datadog
\n
Software-as-a-service (SaaS) companyDatadog(NASDAQ:DDOG)has been public for a shorter period than Zscaler. It debuted on the markets in September of 2019, closing at $37.55 per share on its first day, and it has more than doubled in value since then. Its market value recently sat at $27 billion.
\n
So what does the company do? In its own words, it's a \"monitoring and security platform for cloud applications,\" which helps companies
\n
\n enable digital transformation and cloud migration, drive collaboration among development, operations, security and business teams, accelerate time to market for applications, reduce time to problem resolution, secure applications and infrastructure, understand user behavior, and track key business metrics.\n
\n
Various applications have been added to its platform over time, making it even more powerful and attractive to potential customers, and more will be added. Its customers appear to be findinga lot to like in Datadog's offerings, as the company's retention rate was recently around 130%, suggesting not only that it retained most customers, but also that they increased their spending.
\n
Datadog is growing rapidly, with revenue tripling between fiscal 2018 and 2020. Like Zscaler, it'sposting losseswhile it invests in growth -- developing additional technologies, hiring more people, acquiring more customers, and ramping up its capabilities. Despite that, it'sgenerating free cash flow, which bodes well for its financial health.
\n

\n
\n
3. Palo Alto Networks
\n
Palo Alto Networks(NYSE:PANW)isa global leader in cybersecurity, with a market value recently near $35 billion. Clearly, threats from cyberspace are not going away anytime soon, and companies can't afford to have their systems hacked into and their safeguards breached. Enter Palo Alto, with technology, programs, and even consulting services to help companies secure their data and workings.
\n
In the company's last reported quarter, revenue and billings jumped 25% and 22% year over year, respectively, topping management's previous guidance. Its growth drivers include its cloud-delivered security subscription offerings, which have gone from four to eight in just two years, and the newer, higher support level that it's offering customers -- \"Platinum Support.\"
\n
Palo Alto's artificial-intelligence-powered threat detection platform Cortex counts 66% of the Fortune 100 among its customers, plus 35% of the Global 2000. Interestingly, the company notes that \"Cortex XDR's Behavioral Threat Protection instantly blocked a SolarStorm attack on Palo Alto Networks\" and it sees the SolarStorm attack as a growth driver, as it generated more than 1,000 assessment requests related to it. CEO Nikesh Arora noted ina conference call:
\n
\n This will result in more awareness and focus on cybersecurity, which in all candor, is the need of the hour given the complete reliance on technology in these times. We expect that this attack will be a wake-up call to all enterprises to modernize cybersecurity and will serve as a net incremental tailwind, not just for us but also for the industry.\n
\n
These three companies are not selling at bargain-basement prices. But each appears to have a rosy future ahead of it. Consider digging more deeply into any of the companies that interest you, and if you like what you think, you might start a position in one or more by buying a few initial shares, and then add to that position over time. Or play it more conservative and just add the companies to your watch list, hoping for a lower price in the future (and knowing that it may or may not materialize).
\n
Remember, too, that there are plenty of otherterrific growth stocksout there, and many of them are trading at lower valuations.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Investing in These Stocks Now Could Make You a Millionaire Retiree
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nInvesting in These Stocks Now Could Make You a Millionaire Retiree\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-04-28 19:04 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
It's much better to be a millionaire retiree than a thousandaire one. You're probably not going to become one, though, unless you take some steps toward it. One good way is to regularly invest meaningful sumsin the stock market, over a long period of time -- such as via a low-cost broad-market index fund.\nIf you want to try to get to millionairehood sooner, you might try investing in some carefully chosen individual stocks -- perhaps in addition to investing in index funds. Here are three growth stocks that have a lot of potential.\n\nIMAGE SOURCE: GETTY IMAGES.\n1. Zscaler\nZscaler(NASDAQ:ZS)offers security technology for companies using various cloud services, and has been named the leader in secure web gateways by research firm Gartner. It has been growing briskly, with its stock increasing in value by more than sixfold over only about three years, since the company debuted on the public market. In its most recent quarter, revenue grew by 55% year over year, while billings jumped 71%. The company, recently sporting a market value near $26 billion, \"reached a new milestone by surpassing 5,000 customers during the quarter, including 500 of the Global 2000.\" Between fiscal 2016 and 2020, revenue grew more than fivefold.\nZscaler has a \"big, audacious goal\" of reaching 200 million users and 100 million workloads, and in a presentation for investors, outlined a handful of growth drivers, such as upselling to existing customers, an increased presence in Japan and Latin America, and continuing technological innovations. The company has excelledat retaining customers and, indeed, at increasing the average amount they spend.\nOne concern about Zscaler for investors may be that it has been posting net losses, not net income, in recent years. But that's not unusual for younger, smaller companies. They tend to plow as many dollars as possible into furthering their growth.\n2. Datadog\nSoftware-as-a-service (SaaS) companyDatadog(NASDAQ:DDOG)has been public for a shorter period than Zscaler. It debuted on the markets in September of 2019, closing at $37.55 per share on its first day, and it has more than doubled in value since then. Its market value recently sat at $27 billion.\nSo what does the company do? In its own words, it's a \"monitoring and security platform for cloud applications,\" which helps companies\n\n enable digital transformation and cloud migration, drive collaboration among development, operations, security and business teams, accelerate time to market for applications, reduce time to problem resolution, secure applications and infrastructure, understand user behavior, and track key business metrics.\n\nVarious applications have been added to its platform over time, making it even more powerful and attractive to potential customers, and more will be added. Its customers appear to be findinga lot to like in Datadog's offerings, as the company's retention rate was recently around 130%, suggesting not only that it retained most customers, but also that they increased their spending.\nDatadog is growing rapidly, with revenue tripling between fiscal 2018 and 2020. Like Zscaler, it'sposting losseswhile it invests in growth -- developing additional technologies, hiring more people, acquiring more customers, and ramping up its capabilities. Despite that, it'sgenerating free cash flow, which bodes well for its financial health.\n\nIMAGE SOURCE: GETTY IMAGES.\n3. Palo Alto Networks\nPalo Alto Networks(NYSE:PANW)isa global leader in cybersecurity, with a market value recently near $35 billion. Clearly, threats from cyberspace are not going away anytime soon, and companies can't afford to have their systems hacked into and their safeguards breached. Enter Palo Alto, with technology, programs, and even consulting services to help companies secure their data and workings.\nIn the company's last reported quarter, revenue and billings jumped 25% and 22% year over year, respectively, topping management's previous guidance. Its growth drivers include its cloud-delivered security subscription offerings, which have gone from four to eight in just two years, and the newer, higher support level that it's offering customers -- \"Platinum Support.\"\nPalo Alto's artificial-intelligence-powered threat detection platform Cortex counts 66% of the Fortune 100 among its customers, plus 35% of the Global 2000. CEO Nikesh Arora noted ina conference call:\n\n This will result in more awareness and focus on cybersecurity, which in all candor, is the need of the hour given the complete reliance on technology in these times. We expect that this attack will be a wake-up call to all enterprises to modernize cybersecurity and will serve as a net incremental tailwind, not just for us but also for the industry.\n\nThese three companies are not selling at bargain-basement prices. But each appears to have a rosy future ahead of it. Consider digging more deeply into any of the companies that interest you, and if you like what you think, you might start a position in one or more by buying a few initial shares, and then add to that position over time. Or play it more conservative and just add the companies to your watch list, hoping for a lower price in the future (and knowing that it may or may not materialize).\nRemember, too, that there are plenty of otherterrific growth stocksout there, and many of them are trading at lower valuations.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":299,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3575141057639271","authorId":"3575141057639271","name":"Daveb","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/61df162e1597f1b5a6a6bfb13d7d92f5","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"authorIdStr":"3575141057639271","idStr":"3575141057639271"},"content":"Also many spacs perhaps and data farms.","text":"Also many spacs perhaps and data farms.","html":"Also many spacs perhaps and data farms."}],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":120398461,"gmtCreate":1624295866753,"gmtModify":1631889138962,"author":{"id":"3582028498732884","authorId":"3582028498732884","name":"Guotiao","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/165db6598fc602b1a5c7c537c86b47d6","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582028498732884","idStr":"3582028498732884"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$NIO Inc.(NIO)$ Like it","listText":"$NIO Inc.(NIO)$ Like it","text":"$NIO Inc.(NIO)$ Like it","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/590474dd6d678d7ccb38cc5992c8bab0","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":1,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/120398461","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":257,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":130877114,"gmtCreate":1621527161738,"gmtModify":1631889138981,"author":{"id":"3582028498732884","authorId":"3582028498732884","name":"Guotiao","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/165db6598fc602b1a5c7c537c86b47d6","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582028498732884","idStr":"3582028498732884"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Yeah...gonna invest into AMD [得意] ","listText":"Yeah...gonna invest into AMD [得意] ","text":"Yeah...gonna invest into AMD [得意]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/130877114","repostId":"1114639105","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1114639105","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1621524985,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1114639105?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-05-20 23:36","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Today's Tech Sell-Off: Where to Invest $5,000 for the Next 5 Years","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1114639105","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"These tech giants might multiply your $5,000 investment substantially in the coming years. The Nasdaq-100 Technology Sector index has retreated more than 7% in the past month, bringing down the valuations of some fast-growing names in tech that were considered overvalued earlier.
This would be new territory for NVIDIA, and success here could supercharge the company's data center business, as the server processor market is expected to be worth $19 billion by 2023.
\n
So, NVIDIA still has a lot of room for growth. Analysts forecast 20%-plus annual earnings growth for the next five years, though NVIDIA could do better if the new opportunities it is attacking bear fruit. In all, NVIDIA looks like a top stock where investors can park $5,000, as it is set for multi-year growth and trades at an attractive 36 times forward earnings as compared to 2020's average multiple of 46.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Today's Tech Sell-Off: Where to Invest $5,000 for the Next 5 Years
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nToday's Tech Sell-Off: Where to Invest $5,000 for the Next 5 Years\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-05-20 23:36 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
These tech giants might multiply your $5,000 investment substantially in the coming years.\nThe Nasdaq-100 Technology Sector index has retreated more than 7% in the past month, bringing down the ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"NDX":"纳斯达克100指数","NVDA":"英伟达","AMD":"美国超微公司"},"source_url":"https://www.fool.com/investing/2021/05/20/tech-sell-off-where-invest-5000-for-next-5-years/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1114639105","content_text":"These tech giants might multiply your $5,000 investment substantially in the coming years.\nThe Nasdaq-100 Technology Sector index has retreated more than 7% in the past month, bringing down the valuations of some fast-growing names in tech that were considered overvalued earlier. In all, NVIDIA looks like a top stock where investors can park $5,000, as it is set for multi-year growth and trades at an attractive 36 times forward earnings as compared to 2020's average multiple of 46.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":789,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":130144897,"gmtCreate":1621520749419,"gmtModify":1631889032935,"author":{"id":"3582028498732884","authorId":"3582028498732884","name":"Guotiao","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/165db6598fc602b1a5c7c537c86b47d6","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582028498732884","idStr":"3582028498732884"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"<a fundamental shift in an existing industry. Electric vehicle (EV) sales are expected to jump from 1.7 million in 2020 to 8.5 million just by 2025, and to 26 million 10 years from now, according to industry research providerBloombergNEF. But unlike somede-SPAC companiesin the EV space, the company has so far met its sales expectations and kept its future outlook unchanged. We are concerned about rapidly increasing use of fossil fuels for Bitcoin mining and transactions, especially coal, which has the worst emissions of any fuel. Cryptocurrency is a good idea on many levels and we believe it has a promising future, but this cannot come at great cost to the environment. Tesla will not be selling any Bitcoin and we intend to use it for transactions as soon as mining transitions to more sustainable energy. We are also looking at other cryptocurrencies that use <1% of Bitcoin's energy/transaction.\"\nMainstream investors and some corporate buyers including Tesla,Square,Metromileand Nexon haveflocked to bitcoin, viewing the digital currency as a potential inflation hedge while central banks print money to relieve coronavirus-distressed economies.\nMajor Wall Street banks like Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley have also sought to provide their wealthy clients with bitcoin exposure.\nBut some investors, like Softbank founder Masayoshi Son, still aren't buying in to the crypto craze.\n\"There's a lot of discussion over if it's a good thing or a bad thing, what's the true value or is it in a bubble. Honestly speaking, I don't know,\" Son said at a recentearnings conference.\nWhile Tesla said it would not accept bitcoin for vehicle purchases on Wednesday, Musk specified that Tesla plans to hold rather than sell the bitcoin it already has, and would be looking into other cryptocurrencies that require less energy for transactions.\nDuring the first quarter of 2021, Tesla bought $1.5 billion worth of \"digital assets,\" then sold $272 million worth. According to a financial filing from Tesla on April 26,profits from bitcoin salesspecifically allowed the company to notch a $101 million \"positive impact\" toward profitability.\nMusk has been a very public fan of bitcoin and dogecoin, tweeting and joking about these with his millions of Twitter followers over the past year.\nThis past weekend, the Tesla chief made his hosting debut on \"Saturday Night Live\" and devoted part of his opening monologue and one sketch to talking up dogecoin. Instead of helping drive up the price of the meme-inspired token, dogecoinactually tanked 30%over the course of the hour that Musk was hosting SNL.\nDuring a frenzied sell-off at that time, the popular trading platform Robinhood experienced an outage in its crypto trading.\nFollowing Musk's announcement on Thursday, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said that the team will continue to accept bitcoin and other crpytocurrencies because \"we know that replacing Gold as a store of value will help the environment.\"","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":87,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":199981980,"gmtCreate":1620662443940,"gmtModify":1634197297911,"author":{"id":"3582028498732884","authorId":"3582028498732884","name":"Guotiao","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/165db6598fc602b1a5c7c537c86b47d6","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3582028498732884","idStr":"3582028498732884"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Still expensive for me to buy lol [回头] ","listText":"Still expensive for me to buy lol [回头] ","text":"Still expensive for me to buy lol [回头]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/199981980","repostId":"1161361346","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1161361346","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1620655086,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1161361346?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-05-10 21:58","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Sea fell about 7% in morning trading Monday","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1161361346","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"(May 10) Sea fell about 7% in morning trading Monday.Sea says it has both the largest digital enter","content":"
(May 10) Sea fell about 7% in morning trading Monday.

Sea says it has both the largest digital entertainment platform and the largest e-commerce operation in the Southeast Asia region, comprised of Indonesia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore. Nio ended the year at $48.38, for an eye-popping 1,080% gain. However, 2021 hasn’t been so rosy for Nio stock.
\n
After climbing to a $62.84 close on Feb. 9, NIO stock has slumped. Now trading below $38, NIO is down 30% from the start of the year, and off its February all-time high by 40%.
\n
Ouch.
\n
The protracted slide has scared off nervous investors, while others see the dip as a golden opportunity to grab shares on the cheap.
\n
Which is it, time to make a move, or time to take a pass on NIO stock? I’m firmly in the former camp. NIO is an ‘A’-rated stock inPortfolio Graderand it’s is a hot company in an even hotter market.
\n
It’s facing challenges at the moment, but those are speed bumps. NIO has also been hit by abroad selloff of EV stocks. I think the big picture shows this dip offers a fantastic buying opportunity for anyone who wants to add EVs to their portfolio.
\n
Here’s why.
\n
Nio Is One of the Largest Chinese EV Makers
\n
Founded in 2014, Nio is one of China’s largest EV makers. It’s established, it has a wide range of premium EVs, including a new sedan to complement its lineup of crossovers and SUVs, and its factory is humming. Several days ago, the company announced itdelivered 7,102 vehicles in the month of April.
\n
That’s a 125.1% increase over deliveries for April, 2020.
\n
Nio also has an offering that other EV makers can’t match. Last August, the company launched Battery as a Service, or BaaS. This service allows Nio owners to pay a monthly lease for their EV’s battery instead of buying it outright. Doing so offers numerous advantages, including a lower EV purchase price, and the ability to upgrade the battery if higher capacity is needed.
\n
In addition, Nio owners who subscribe to BaaS don’t have to worry about whether their home has available EV chargers — a real concern in megacities where many people live in large apartment complexes. Instead, they can drive to a convenient station and swap out their depleted battery for a fully charged one.
\n
China Is The World’s Largest Car Market
\n
Another reason to love Nio? We tend to think of the U.S. when it comes to automobile production and sales. However, China has held the title of world’s largest car market for more than a decade.
\n
In 2020, there were 14.46 million new vehicles sold in the U.S., butChina notched 19.79 million new car sales. In addition, the Chinese auto market has far more runway for growth. In the U.S., there are currently over 800 cars for every 1,000 inhabitants. In China, that number is less than 200 for every 1,000 inhabitants.
\n
China is also an enthusiastic adopter of EVs. In 2020, 1.3 million EVs were sold in the country. Growth was modest at 8% — changing government subsidy programs had a negative effect — but that still represented 42% of global EV sales. In comparison, just 2.4% of vehicles sold in the U.S. last year were EVs.
\n
However, projections have the Chinese auto market returning to growth in 2021, after a year where the pandemic put a damper on the market. A report published in February putsChina on track to see a 50% increase in EV sales in 2021. Nio is going to capture a good chunk of that increase.
\n
That’s going to help push NIO stock out of its current funk.
\n
Some Challenges Still Weigh on NIO
\n
There are some challenges in 2021, of course. And these challenges have been part of the downward pressure on NIO stock. As I mentioned, after big growth last year, EV stocks in general have been in correction territory this year. There are concerns that globalchip shortages will constrain production of EV makers, including Nio. Competition is increasing. There is also the long-term threat that Chinese stocks like Nio may eventuallyface de-listing from American exchanges.
\n
It’s important to be aware of these issues, but I wouldn’t fixate on them. Most are surmountable and the de-listing threat is at least three years off.
\n
The Bottom Line on NIO Stock
\n
Nio is facing some challenges. But the positives far outweigh the negatives in this case. This is a company with huge growth momentum and I expect NIO stock will once again reflect that.
\n
Many analysts agree with me. The 19 investment analysts polled byCNN Moneyhave NIO stock rated as a consensus “Buy” with a $58.98 median price target. Technical factors, rather than developments that would affect earnings, appear to be behind the shift.
\n
NIO (ticker: NIO) stock was a can’t miss bet for months. Shares gained more than 1,100% in 2020, closing at around $49. They raced to almost $67 early this year, but stalled out and fell to less than $32 last month. New competition in China’s EV market, confusion over deliveries during the Lunar New Year holiday, and the global shortage of semiconductors for use in cars all gave investors reasons to sell, or avoid buying. Higher interest rates also dinged valuations of high-growth stocks in February and March.
\n
But over the past week, investors are feeling much better. Shares closed 3.8% higher on Monday afternoon, while the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average were roughly flat.
\n
That took the shares from less than $36 to almost $43, even though not much has changed in fundamental terms.
\n
The stock picked up one new Buy rating. That always helps. CLSA analyst Soobin Park launched coverage of the stock with a Buy and $50 price target. Two-thirds of analysts covering the company rate shares Buy. The average Buy rating ratio for stocks in the S&P 500 is about 55%.
\n
Barron’s Ed Lin also pointed out Sunday that Munich Ergo Asset Management GmbH, which manages investments for reinsurance giant Munich Re,bought more shares of NIO stock in the first quarter. That vote of confidence may be lifting the stock as well.
\n
More important, though, NIO stock was oversold. The stock’s relative strength index, or RSI, which measures the speed and magnitude of price changes, was bouncing around 30 in early March, on a range from 0 and 100. A low reading of 30 means, for traders, that all the selling is done for the near term and that a stock might be due for a bounce.
\n
NIO stock has done exactly that. Technical factors, rather than developments that would affect earnings, appear to be behind the shift.\nNIO (ticker: NIO) stock was a can’t miss bet for months. Shares gained more than 1,100% in 2020, closing at around $49. They raced to almost $67 early this year, but stalled out and fell to less than $32 last month. New competition in China’s EV market, confusion over deliveries during the Lunar New Year holiday, and the global shortage of semiconductors for use in cars all gave investors reasons to sell, or avoid buying. Higher interest rates also dinged valuations of high-growth stocks in February and March.\nBut over the past week, investors are feeling much better. Shares closed 3.8% higher on Monday afternoon, while the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average were roughly flat.\nThat took the shares from less than $36 to almost $43, even though not much has changed in fundamental terms.\nThe stock picked up one new Buy rating. That always helps. CLSA analyst Soobin Park launched coverage of the stock with a Buy and $50 price target. Two-thirds of analysts covering the company rate shares Buy. The average Buy rating ratio for stocks in the S&P 500 is about 55%.\nBarron’s Ed Lin also pointed out Sunday that Munich Ergo Asset Management GmbH, which manages investments for reinsurance giant Munich Re,bought more shares of NIO stock in the first quarter. That vote of confidence may be lifting the stock as well.\nMore important, though, NIO stock was oversold. The stock’s relative strength index, or RSI, which measures the speed and magnitude of price changes, was bouncing around 30 in early March, on a range from 0 and 100. A low reading of 30 means, for traders, that all the selling is done for the near term and that a stock might be due for a bounce.\nNIO stock has done exactly that. Now the RSI reading is back around 58, a little higher than the midpoint of 50, but not yet to the point where traders would start to target NIO shares as overbought.\nSo far this year, NIO stock is down about 13% year to date, leaving it behind both the broader market and Tesla (TSLA) stock’s 4% gain. The next chapter of the stock’s story could begin on Thursday, when NIO reports its first-quarter financial results.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":184,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
