Disney also managed to pepper its performance with some encouraging developments.</p>\n<p>We may as well start with the top- and bottom-line results. Revenue soared 45% to top $17 billion, ahead of the 43% year-over-year surge that analysts were targeting. It's a big jump, but it's all relative. Keep in mind that Disney theme parks and cruise ships as well as all U.S. movie theaters were closed for the entirety of the fiscal third quarter a year ago. We have to go back another year to the $20.3 billion it served up in fiscal 2019 to get the more accurate snapshot, and a 16% decline over the past two years doesn't seem like a bad trade for a company with a lot of runway left in the global economic recovery process.</p>\n<p>Disney's adjusted earnings of $0.80 a share also blew past the $0.56 a share that Wall Street pros were forecasting. It was the beat that Disney needed, but the good news didn't stop there.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/60bb834d07fcf8b324cf4a218631c96f\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Image source: Disney.</span></p>\n<h2>It's a great big beautiful tomorrow</h2>\n<p>There were two things that tripped Disney up last time out. We had the House of Mouse clock in with a rare top-line miss, and we already covered how Disney cleared that hurdle this week. The other zinger in May came at the hands of weaker-than-expected growth in Disney+, as the 103 million subscribers that the media bellwether had on its streaming platform by the end of March were millions fewer than analysts were modeling.</p>\n<p>On Thursday we learned that there are now 116 million Disney+ subscribers, comfortably ahead of the 114.5 million that Wall Street pros were estimating. It gets better on that front. The average revenue per user (ARPU) on the Disney+ platform declined 10% year over year to $4.19 a month. This is a metric that's been steadily declining since the service began expanding internationally last year, as India's Disney+ Hotstar -- with much lower rates -- is accounting for much of its recent growth.</p>\n<p>How is this good news? Well, three months ago ARPU was at only $3.99 a month. This is the first sequential increase for Disney+ since shortly after its late 2019 launch. An increase in rates for U.S. subscribers helped prop that figure higher, but that only makes the healthy sequential uptick in subscribers -- 13 million net additions for the three-month period -- that much more impressive.</p>\n<p>If you want more encouraging signs, Disney's theme park segment reported its first profit since the pandemic. The recent spike in delta variant-fueled COVID-19 cases isn't weighing on guest demand. Current park reservations are higher than the attendance levels in the recently concluded fiscal third quarter.</p>\n<p>Things aren't perfect, but Disney is clearly moving in the right direction. The media mogul posted better-than-expected financial results shortly after Thursday's market close. Disney also managed to pepper its performance with some encouraging developments.\nWe may as well start with the top- and bottom-line results. Revenue soared 45% to top $17 billion, ahead of the 43% year-over-year surge that analysts were targeting. It's a big jump, but it's all relative. Keep in mind that Disney theme parks and cruise ships as well as all U.S. movie theaters were closed for the entirety of the fiscal third quarter a year ago. We have to go back another year to the $20.3 billion it served up in fiscal 2019 to get the more accurate snapshot, and a 16% decline over the past two years doesn't seem like a bad trade for a company with a lot of runway left in the global economic recovery process.\nDisney's adjusted earnings of $0.80 a share also blew past the $0.56 a share that Wall Street pros were forecasting. It was the beat that Disney needed, but the good news didn't stop there.\nImage source: Disney.\nIt's a great big beautiful tomorrow\nThere were two things that tripped Disney up last time out. We had the House of Mouse clock in with a rare top-line miss, and we already covered how Disney cleared that hurdle this week. The other zinger in May came at the hands of weaker-than-expected growth in Disney+, as the 103 million subscribers that the media bellwether had on its streaming platform by the end of March were millions fewer than analysts were modeling.\nOn Thursday we learned that there are now 116 million Disney+ subscribers, comfortably ahead of the 114.5 million that Wall Street pros were estimating. It gets better on that front. The average revenue per user (ARPU) on the Disney+ platform declined 10% year over year to $4.19 a month. This is a metric that's been steadily declining since the service began expanding internationally last year, as India's Disney+ Hotstar -- with much lower rates -- is accounting for much of its recent growth.\nHow is this good news? Well, three months ago ARPU was at only $3.99 a month. This is the first sequential increase for Disney+ since shortly after its late 2019 launch. An increase in rates for U.S. subscribers helped prop that figure higher, but that only makes the healthy sequential uptick in subscribers -- 13 million net additions for the three-month period -- that much more impressive.\nIf you want more encouraging signs, Disney's theme park segment reported its first profit since the pandemic. The recent spike in delta variant-fueled COVID-19 cases isn't weighing on guest demand. Current park reservations are higher than the attendance levels in the recently concluded fiscal third quarter.\nThings aren't perfect, but Disney is clearly moving in the right direction. Its next quarterly earnings report is due out next week, and could very likely shoot out the lights, but investors should see there is a much bigger opportunity for expansion beyond just a single quarter's returns.</p>\n<p>The ammo industry is confronting a nationwide shortage that has existed for over a year and now even impacts police departments, which are unable to procure enough ammunition. There's been a run on ammo because of a massive gun-buying spree that's not letting up.</p>\n<p>An estimated 8.4 million people bought their first gun last year, or 40% of all guns sold in 2020, which pushed demand for ammunition to new heights. According to the General Social Survey conducted by the nonpartisan and objective research organization NORC at the University of Chicago, 39% of U.S. households now own a firearm, up from 32% in 2016.</p>\n<p>That puts AMMO in a perfect position to capitalize on the need, and last month it updated its earnings forecast to say it expected sales of $51 million in the second quarter, a 400% increase from the year-ago period. It's always possible it will blow past this guidance, but investors should focus instead on Ammo's long-term growth potential.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>With shares down 30% from the high they hit at the end of June, this stock could shoot higher very quickly.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/eb18b28b47da8a37c41eba729a8ecac1\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2>The Original Bark Company</h2>\n<p>There's no end in sight to the trend of people humanizing their pets (I'm guilty as charged, too). The American Pet Products Association estimates consumers will spend almost $110 billion on pets this year, up 5.6% from 2020. Most (40%) will be spent on food and treats.</p>\n<p>That's where <b>The Original Bark Company</b> (NYSE:BARK) comes in, which is probably better known as BarkBox, the monthly subscription service that mails out a themed box of toys, treats, and goodies for dogs. It has 1.8 million active subscribers, almost double the number it had a year ago, while its monthly churn rate, or the number of customers who drop the service, continues to decline. In fact, almost 95% continue to renew.</p>\n<p>Bark is expanding its product line, too, which could boost its relevance to pet owners. It is introducing Bark Home, for things like leashes and beds; Bark Bright, which focuses on pet dental and wellness; and Bark Eats, to develop personalized food menus.</p>\n<p>Right now, Bark focuses on one thing (dogs) and does it quite well, but it's also clear there's an opportunity expand into other verticals like catering to cats. The APPA says 69 million households have a dog, by far the largest pet group, but over 45 million households have a cat (and some have both). It's a huge market and as Bark grows it may find feline pets is simply a market too massive to ignore.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/31bd11c3efccb8ec51dbd1fefe4ecb32\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2>Jushi Holdings</h2>\n<p>Multi-state marijuana retailer <b>Jushi Holdings</b> (OTC:JUSHF) just appointed an executive with decades of extensive retail experience with companies including <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/URBN\">Urban Outfitters</a></b>' Anthropologie chain and <b>Gap </b>to oversee its store expansion plans.</p>\n<p>Because the U.S. is the world's leading marijuana market, and has yet to even scratch the surface of its full potential -- only 18 states have approved personal use or retail sale of cannabis, while 36 have legalized medical marijuana -- Jushi has the chance to become a dominant player in the dispensary space as it expands its operations.</p>\n<p>Right now most of Jushi's stores are centered in Pennsylvania (13 of its 20 retail spots are located there), but others can be found in Illinois, and Virginia, and the trio account for 80% of its total 2021 revenue.&nbsp;It added California and Nevada to its roster through acquisitions earlier this year, and has a growing portfolio of branded retail outlets.</p>\n<p>Jushi is a vertically integrated operator, with five cultivation facilities and another five extraction and processing plants, that employs nearly 1,000 workers across the country.</p>\n<p>Revenue this year is forecast to hit $205 million to $255 million, which should allow it to readily finance its growth ambitions. Investors should hope it stays that way.</p>\n<p>It wasn’t quite like watching paint dry this past week, but it wasn’t that far off, either. Earnings reports were few and far between, the most prominent coming from Walt Disney (ticker: DIS) and eBay (EBAY). The economic news, including July’s consumer-price data, didn’t contain any shockers. And while the S&amp;P 500 closed the week on a streak of four new highs, one of them was by less than a quarter of&nbsp;a point. The index rose 0.7%, to 4468.00, while the&nbsp;Dow Jones Industrial Average&nbsp;gained 306.87 points, or 0.9%, to 35,515.38. The&nbsp;Nasdaq Composite&nbsp;dipped 0.1%. to 14,822.90.</p>\n<p>Exuberance this ain’t.</p>\n<p><b>Why Stock Prices Are Poised to Keep Rising</b></p>\n<p>Still, there was some action underneath the surface. Tech,particularly chip stockslikeMicron Technology(MU),Lam Research(LRCX), andApplied Materials(AMAT), took it on the chin, while banks, includingGoldman Sachs Group(GS), and industrials such asCaterpillar(CAT), soared. And theInvesco S&amp;P 500 Equal Weightexchange-traded fund (RSP) gained 0.8% on the week, outpacing the market-cap-weighted version.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d14ffc0d585bc642e9dfa4eebe4b998b\" tg-width=\"964\" tg-height=\"647\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"></p>\n<p>That suggests that&nbsp;the stock market is rotating&nbsp;once again, out of tech and other growth stocks, which had been outperforming since May, and back into stocks that benefit from the strength of the U.S. economy, says Katie Stockton, founder of Fairlead Strategies. “A lot of rotation in constituents can fuel a bull market,” she says, noting that if more stocks start winning, it’s only a matter of time before the small-cap&nbsp;Russell 2000 index&nbsp;does, too.</p>\n<p>That cyclicals have started breaking out again is impressive, particularly given the nonstop focus on the Covid-19 Delta variant. Whether it’s about states like&nbsp;Mississippi&nbsp;and&nbsp;Florida, or the Food and Drug Administration’s&nbsp;approval of a vaccine booster&nbsp;shot for people with compromised immune systems, renewed pandemic fears should have hit those stocks hard. That they didn’t says a lot about what investors are thinking.</p>\n<p>“If you just look at the market action this week, it’s saying the Delta variant is a public-health crisis, but not an economic crisis,” says Dave Donabedian, chief investment officer at CIBC Private Wealth US.</p>\n<p>At some point, the boredom will end, and the market will get more volatile. And the biggest risk might be that investors use the volatility to push the entire stock market higher, notes BTIG’s Julian Emanuel, treating it like one big meme stock.</p>\n<p>“[The] dramatic price action in ‘meme stocks’ both old and new raises the probability that higher volatility could result in an ‘altered reality’ exception,” he writes. “And there is only one previous exception where volatility went up and stocks continued to go up, and up, and up. At least for a while.”</p>\n<p>That, of course, was in 1999. Earnings reports were few and far between, the most prominent coming from Walt Disney (ticker: DIS) and eBay (EBAY). The economic news, including July’s consumer-price data, didn’t contain any shockers. And while the S&P 500 closed the week on a streak of four new highs, one of them was by less than a quarter of a point. The index rose 0.7%, to 4468.00, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 306.87 points, or 0.9%, to 35,515.38. The Nasdaq Composite dipped 0.1%. to 14,822.90.\nExuberance this ain’t.\nWhy Stock Prices Are Poised to Keep Rising\nStill, there was some action underneath the surface. Tech,particularly chip stockslikeMicron Technology(MU),Lam Research(LRCX), andApplied Materials(AMAT), took it on the chin, while banks, includingGoldman Sachs Group(GS), and industrials such asCaterpillar(CAT), soared. And theInvesco S&P 500 Equal Weightexchange-traded fund (RSP) gained 0.8% on the week, outpacing the market-cap-weighted version.\n\nThat suggests that the stock market is rotating once again, out of tech and other growth stocks, which had been outperforming since May, and back into stocks that benefit from the strength of the U.S. economy, says Katie Stockton, founder of Fairlead Strategies. “A lot of rotation in constituents can fuel a bull market,” she says, noting that if more stocks start winning, it’s only a matter of time before the small-cap Russell 2000 index does, too.\nThat cyclicals have started breaking out again is impressive, particularly given the nonstop focus on the Covid-19 Delta variant. Whether it’s about states like Mississippi and Florida, or the Food and Drug Administration’s approval of a vaccine booster shot for people with compromised immune systems, renewed pandemic fears should have hit those stocks hard. That they didn’t says a lot about what investors are thinking.\n“If you just look at the market action this week, it’s saying the Delta variant is a public-health crisis, but not an economic crisis,” says Dave Donabedian, chief investment officer at CIBC Private Wealth US.\nAt some point, the boredom will end, and the market will get more volatile.
