Move expected to be worldwide over time, Musk says
Tesla Inc. Chief Executive Elon Musk tweeted Tuesday that the Silicon Valley electric-car maker will open its fast-charging network to other EVs later this year, and over time the stations will be open in all countries.
The decision garnered mostly accolades from Musk's fans, but some complained it would add to wait times at some of Tesla's busier "Superchargers," Tesla-speak for a fast-charging device clustered in stations often located on main highways.
It was not immediately clear whether adapters would be needed.
Tesla stock $(TSLA)$ edged lower in the extended session Tuesday after ending the regular trading day up 2.2%.
The EV maker is scheduled to report second-quarter results on Monday after the closing bell. The stock has lost more than 6% this year, contrasting with gains of 15% for the S&P 500 index .
