But Zillow has since expanded on that digital-first foundation.</p>\n<p>Today, the company connects renters with landlords and homebuyers and sellers with agents, and it provides access to mortgage, title, and escrow services. This end-to-end approach streamlines transactions, removing the complexities created by third-party lenders and closing service providers.</p>\n<p>Zillow also buys homes directly through its Zillow Offers business, giving sellers the certainty of an all-cash offer and the convenience of never having to list their homes. Last year, 9.6 billion people visited the company's websites and mobile apps, making Zillow the most visited brand in the industry, according to Comscore. More importantly, because the company draws more viewers to its listings, Zillow can acquire customers at a lower cost than its rivals.</p>\n<p>Likewise, its foundational Internet, Media, and Technology (IMT) business -- which comprises ad revenue from real estate agents, rental properties, and home builders -- is profitable. In fact, Zillow generated more gross profit in 2020 than any other tech company in the real estate space. With the launch of Zillow Offers in April 2018, the company started buying and selling homes directly. Of course, homes aren't cheap, and this business requires sizable upfront investments that erode gross profit.</p>\n<p>However, management is moving up the learning curve. Zillow sold 5,337 homes in 2020, up 24%&nbsp;from the prior year. More importantly, the company reported a 9% gross margin in its Homes business in Q1 2021, up from 5% in Q1 2020. Investors should look for Zillow to maintain that momentum.</p>\n<h2>A bright future</h2>\n<p>Since Q1 2001, the median price for houses sold in the U.S. has climbed from $169,800 to $374,900. Put another way, home prices tend to rise about 4% annually. To add to that, millennials represent the largest generation in the country, and as they age into their homebuying years Zillow believes the number of U.S. households will rise 5% by 2025.</p>\n<p>In other words, the residential real estate market should see rising prices and increased demand in the years ahead, meaning Zillow's market opportunity should only get bigger.</p>\n<p>More importantly, I believe the future of real estate is more streamlined and digital, and Zillow's business model plays into that trend. Yet the company's trailing-12-month revenue of $3.4 billion&nbsp;represents a fraction of its addressable market. In fact, CEO Elon Musk has often said this would be the company's primary long-term advantage,&nbsp;and he now has data to back that claim: Tesla posted an industry-leading operating margin of 6.3% in 2020.</p>\n<p>How did that happen? Last year, Tesla ramped production of the Model 3 and started producing the Model Y at Gigafactory Shanghai. This helped expand and localize its China business, offering a cost-efficient alternative to importing vehicles. At the same time, the company started making the Model Y at its factory in Fremont, California, further boosting capacity.</p>\n<p>In both cases, Tesla's highly automated, scalable approach to manufacturing is paying off. The Model Y was immediately profitable, marking the first time in the company's history that a new product achieved profitability in its first quarter&nbsp;of production. Investors should look for this trend to continue.</p>\n<p>However, while Tesla's performance in 2020 was impressive, the company's future looks even brighter. But <b>Tesla</b> just did it — and analysts insist another is on the way.</p>\n<p>Analysts think <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/FB\">Facebook</a></b> should be the sixth S&amp;P 500 company valued at $1 trillion or more in 12 months or less, returning it to the trillion-dollar club. It would put the social networking giant in the same trillion-dollar league as <b>Apple</b>, <b>Microsoft</b>, <b>Alphabet</b>, <b>Amazon.com</b> and now Tesla.</p>\n<p>Shares of Facebook closed Monday at 328.69, down more than 14% from the 52-week high. That parked the company's valuation at $927 billion. But that was prior to the company late Monday topping third-quarter profit forecasts by 1.3% and jumping in after-hours trading to north of 337 a share. At this price, Facebook is worth $950 billion.</p>\n<p>It's only a matter of time until Facebook returns to the rarefied trillion-dollar air, though, say S&amp;P 500 analysts.</p>\n<h2>Trillion Dollar Redux For Facebook</h2>\n<p>Predicting Facebook will be a $1 trillion company is somewhat of an anticlimactic call.</p>\n<p>The company first closed above a trillion-dollar valuation back in July of this year. But since then, it's been on a rough run. Allegations of putting profit ahead of users' mental health, a high-profile outage and exposure to data limits at Apple knocked Facebook from its trillion-dollar perch. <b>Snap</b>'s recent disappointing third quarter and warning of problems tailoring social media ads on iPhones only fanned the worries.</p>\n<p>But analysts remain resolute on Facebook's future. They're calling for the stock to rally another 27% from Monday's close to 416.43 in 12 months, says data from S&amp;P Global Market Intelligence and MarketSmith. And if they're right, that would make Facebook a company valued at $1.17 billion. Should you buy Facebook stock now?</p>\n<p>Interestingly, if analysts are right, Facebook would supplant Tesla as the fifth most-valuable company in the S&amp;P 500. Analysts actually think Tesla's stock will drop 23% to 787.15. And if that's correct, it means Tesla would be worth just $779.3 billion, or a third less than what they think Facebook will be worth in 12 months. Should you buy Tesla stock now?</p>\n<h2>Who's Up In S&amp;P 500 After Facebook?</h2>\n<p>Facebook and Tesla might jockey for the trillion-dollar prize. But other than those two, are any other S&amp;P 500 stocks anywhere near a trillion? Nothing immediate.</p>\n<p>Warren Buffett's <b>Berkshire Hathaway</b> would appear next in line, as its market value is now $657.9 billion. Analysts, though, think even in 12 months time the company will be worth just $730.8 billion, falling shy of the trillion-dollar mark by nearly 40%. Also, it's not a particularly fast grower, so unlikely to surprise much to the upside. Analysts think Berkshire Hathaway's adjusted profit per share will only grow by 6.9% in 2022.</p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/V\">Visa</a></b> is a likely candidate in due time. The payment processing firm is already worth nearly $500 billion. And its adjusted profit per share is seen jumping 25% in 2022 to $7.26. Even so, analysts don't think it's going to happen anytime soon. Since then, shares have undergone a 5-for-1 split, meaning that her original share price target now corresponds to $800.</p>\n<p>Of course, Tesla stock hit $900 a share earlier this year. And though it's fallen by 27% since then, Wood is more bullish than ever. In fact, ARK Invest recently bumped its price target to $3,000 per share by 2025. That represents 365% upside, or an annualized return of 47% over the next four years.</p>\n<p>So, should you add Tesla to your portfolio? Let's take a look under the hood.</p>\n<h2>Tesla's present</h2>\n<p>Tesla is the market-leading manufacturer of electric vehicles (EVs). Last year, the company sold 499,500 EVs, capturing 16% of the global market. And that momentum has carried into 2021, as Tesla produced 206,400 vehicles&nbsp;in the second quarter, up 150% over the prior year.</p>\n<p>That rapid scaling underscores <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> of Tesla's key advantages: manufacturing efficiency. In fact, CEO Elon Musk has often said this would be the company's primary long-term advantage,&nbsp;and he now has data to back that claim: Tesla posted an industry-leading operating margin of 6.3% in 2020.</p>\n<p>How did that happen? Last year, Tesla ramped production of the Model 3 and started producing the Model Y at Gigafactory Shanghai. This helped expand and localize its China business, offering a cost-efficient alternative to importing vehicles. At the same time, the company started making the Model Y at its factory in Fremont, California, further boosting capacity.</p>\n<p>In both cases, Tesla's highly automated, scalable approach to manufacturing is paying off. The Model Y was immediately profitable, marking the first time in the company's history that a new product achieved profitability in its first quarter&nbsp;of production. Investors should look for this trend to continue.</p>\n<p>However, while Tesla's performance in 2020 was impressive, the company's future looks even brighter. Tesla recently unveiled its new 4680 battery cell, an innovative&nbsp;design that will slash production costs by 56%, increase EV range by 54%, and cut capital expenditure by 69%.</p>\n<p>During the most recent earnings call, Musk said Tesla is roughly 12 to 18 months away from \"volume production of the 4680.\" But on the bright side, he believes this technology will allow Tesla to build a fully autonomous $25,000 EV in the next three years.</p>\n<h2>Tesla's future</h2>\n<p>If Tesla does indeed build an affordable self-driving EV in the next three years, it would expand the company's market opportunity dramatically. Rather than simply making cars, Tesla could follow through on its plan to launch an autonomous ride-hailing service, a market that ARK Invest values at $1.2 trillion&nbsp;by 2030.</p>\n<p>To add, Tesla could also sell its self-driving software to other automakers. In fact, Musk has already had \"preliminary discussions about licensing autopilot.\" In either case, this would transform Tesla's business, replacing its dependence on cyclical hardware sales (i.e., EVs) with highly recurring revenue in the form of ride fares or software subscription fees.</p>\n<p>Of course, before rushing to buy the stock, investors should consider Tesla's valuation. Shares currently trade at an absurd 19.8 times sales, while automakers like <b>General Motors</b> trade at a much more reasonable 0.7 times sales.</p>\n<p>However, a decade from now, that valuation may not look so crazy if Tesla does disrupt the mobility industry. For what it's worth, I'm a Tesla shareholder and I wouldn't sell this stock if it got cut in half tomorrow. That represents 365% upside, or an annualized return of 47% over the next four years.\nSo, should you add Tesla to your portfolio? Let's take a look under the hood.\nTesla's present\nTesla is the market-leading manufacturer of electric vehicles (EVs). Last year, the company sold 499,500 EVs, capturing 16% of the global market. And that momentum has carried into 2021, as Tesla produced 206,400 vehicles in the second quarter, up 150% over the prior year.\nThat rapid scaling underscores one of Tesla's key advantages: manufacturing efficiency. In fact, CEO Elon Musk has often said this would be the company's primary long-term advantage, and he now has data to back that claim: Tesla posted an industry-leading operating margin of 6.3% in 2020.\nHow did that happen? Last year, Tesla ramped production of the Model 3 and started producing the Model Y at Gigafactory Shanghai. This helped expand and localize its China business, offering a cost-efficient alternative to importing vehicles. At the same time, the company started making the Model Y at its factory in Fremont, California, further boosting capacity.\nIn both cases, Tesla's highly automated, scalable approach to manufacturing is paying off. The Model Y was immediately profitable, marking the first time in the company's history that a new product achieved profitability in its first quarter of production. Investors should look for this trend to continue.\nHowever, while Tesla's performance in 2020 was impressive, the company's future looks even brighter. The stock has been one of the most discussed tickers on Reddit forums for several days. The stock’s popularity has been fueled by other factors that include (1) Tesla having recently joined the select group of trillion-dollar market cap companies, (2) Q3 earnings results that topped consensus for the third consecutive quarter, and (3) recent enthusiasm from the sell side and institutional investors.</p>\n<p>Tesla stock was the most popular ticker on Reddit on November 2 (see image below). It has also been one of the&nbsp;most discussed&nbsp;tickers in the past month on Reddit’s famous WallStreetBets – the birthplace of meme mania.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2c4b47f2daaddb5abeda131b432deff9\" tg-width=\"1071\" tg-height=\"399\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Figure 2: Trending stocks on Reddit on November 2.</span></p>\n<p><b>Cathie Wood’s super-bullish call</b></p>\n<p>ARK Invest, the family of funds managed by famed investor Cathie Wood,hasin Tesla stock its largest allocation. Despite having&nbsp;recently&nbsp;sold a chunk of her funds’ TSLA position, probably for rebalancing purposes, Cathie Wood remains one of the most ferocious bulls on the EV stock.</p>\n<p>Recently, speaking at Milken Institute's 2021 Global Investment Conference, Ms. Wood&nbsp;said&nbsp;that $3,000 is ARK’s base case for Tesla stock. She sees the company as “a very visible” first proof of concept and wants to expose ARK clients to the “next FAAMGs”. She seems confident that Tesla is one key player in this new generation of tech giants.</p>\n<p>Lastly, she has&nbsp;mentioned&nbsp;that electric vehicles are taking massive share from traditional gas-fueled cars, and that Tesla stock is finally reacting to this new reality.</p>\n<p>ARK Invest is considered one of the most&nbsp;popular and influential&nbsp;funds in the asset management industry. Its strategy to invest in disruptive technology has likely incentivized several individual investors to follow in Cathie Wood’s footsteps and give TSLA further consideration.</p>\n<p><b>Elon Musk’s influence</b></p>\n<p>From the position of&nbsp;wealthiest&nbsp;person on Earth, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has a very influential voice in the markets. Like his Bitcoin- and Dogecoin-related tweets that often cause a frenzy, Tesla stock seems to be under similar influence from its iconic CEO.</p>\n<p>Elon has recently&nbsp;claimed&nbsp;that Tesla’s vehicle deliveries to Hertz have not started, and that a contract has not even been inked yet. The brief statement on Twitter (see below) caused immediate bearish reaction from the markets. It’s a narrative that’s come up repeatedly in explaining mysterious moves, such as the big-tech rally in the summer of 2020 and this year’s mid-month market swoons.</p>\n<p>More than 2.4 million bullish contracts on Tesla changed hands Monday, a 14-month high, as traders rushed into speculative wagers to reap quick gains.</p>\n<p>The most-active contract, the $1,000 call expiring Friday, soared to $39.34 from $1.60 -- for a single-session gain of about 2,360%.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/cda02b1e0d014eab556a0107a93d2f93\" tg-width=\"1200\" tg-height=\"675\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"></p>\n<p>Investors spent $5.11 billion on call options, compared with a total of $279 million on puts, according to an estimate by Nomura Securities. To illustrate the dynamics, Brent Kochuba, founder of analytic service SpotGamma, plotted Tesla’s stock against delta, or the theoretical value of stock required for market makers to hedge the directional exposure resulting from all options activity.</p>\n<p>In the simplest form, when someone buys calls, a dealer must buy Tesla’s stock to hedge the delta exposure generated by those options trades. If the stock keeps rising, it forces dealers to buy more shares, a process know as gamma hedging.</p>\n<p>According to Kochuba’s analysis, Monday started with traders selling calls, which led to a slight negative delta reading. As the stock started to lift off around 10 a.m. in New York, these call sellers were forced to cover their positions. That coincided with Tesla’s share advance toward $980.</p>\n<p>Around noon, traders began flooding in to purchase calls, sparking a surge in delta hedging that accompanied Tesla’s ascent toward $1,000. Then two hours later, another wave of call buying hit the market. The main reason for this is that these companies have very solid brand recognition, and individuals who have owned these models for years or decades have the option to opt for an electric version of those; they choose those over trying out a new untested model a majority of the time.</p>\n<p>With companies like Ford introducing the all-electric F-150 and others, it's unclear how Tesla can maintain this high growth rate beyond 2024 as these models are expected to hit the streets and begin capturing back market share away from Tesla and other current models. Other factors like Tesla opening up their charging station network to all EV models, as well as a massive capital injection into EV charging stations in the most recent infrastructure spending bill in the United States, will surely help Tesla's income when it charges for the use, but it also helps other companies overcome the main hurdle of widespread adoption - clearing a pathway for more and more EV models to emerge.</p>\n<p>The Short-Term Tailwinds Are Emerging</p>\n<p>Tesla has several near-term tailwinds which will keep way ahead of any competition for the next 12 to 24 months. These mostly all boil down to profitability but also focus on various business model advantages.</p>\n<p>1. A positive profit margin: While other companies are just now beginning to invest in transforming their manufacturing facilities from fossil fuel intake engines to electric vehicle production, Tesla has done this and way more efficiently. Since they've built these from scratch, they've mostly automated the process and thus enjoy a much higher profit margin. Other companies won't see a profit per vehicle for years to come.</p>\n<p>2. Surging battery manufacturing: Although other companies have a mixed position on whether to manufacture their own batteries or set up joint ventures with existing companies, Tesla has been churning out batteries for years and have, as similar with the vehicle manufacturing process, nearly fully automated the process to maximize profits per unit.</p>\n<p>3. International manufacturing: Other companies, thus far, have focused on restructuring and transforming current assembly plants in the United States and will likely take several more years before they do so for other international facilities, which means they will need to spend a fortune shipping these new vehicles around the world to the EMEA and the Asia-Pacific. Tesla, on the other hand, has manufacturing facilities in the United States and in China and is set to open their plant in Germany as well as being in final development stages of an India plant, which will allow them to access a much larger market.</p>\n<p>4. Charging stations advantage: Although the new infrastructure bill in the United States, as well as massive investments in countries like Japan and China, are certain to put in hundreds of thousands of new EV charging stations across the globe, this will take time. So far, only Tesla has a real robust charging network across the world. A recent development, which does have negative elements to it as mentioned earlier, has a positive near term one - they will be raking in net profits from allowing other electric vehicles to charge on their network. This means that they'll likely be profiting from each vehicle their competitors churn out, at least until the scaling up of non-Tesla charging stations takes place.</p>\n<p>5. \"Other Business\" growth rate: While other automobile companies are still spending hand over fist on their other models and products, Tesla enjoys being only in high-growth industries like SolarCity's solar panels and battery sales. As I'll expand on in the next segment, they also don't have near-term or long-term financial obligations from these \"other business\" segments as establishment automobile companies have.</p>\n<p>Balance Sheet Advantages</p>\n<p>Although some elements of their balance sheet advantage are set to help them in the long run as well, they're mostly advantages for the short term since once these other companies begin making a profit from their EV sales - a lot of this will be reversed.</p>\n<p>Tesla's main advantage, as mentioned earlier, is that they're actually raking in cash from each car they sell, allowing them to use that cash to continue and set up more manufacturing facilities and invest in battery technology, solar technology and production increases. This is contrary to other automobile companies which have high financial obligations to their other business segments like pensions and leases. This will further aid the company's overall profit margin, while they don't struggle with such obligations.</p>\n<p>These other companies will need to use profits and cash from their existing legacy business segments to pay for their losses on each vehicle they produce, hurting their overall valuation moving forward.</p>\n<p>Although Tesla has $6.9 billion inlong-term debt, a factor which kept many investors on the sidelines as debt racked up, they currently hold just under $16.3 billion in cash and equivalents, making their net debt position negative. They've been using the cash to pay down their debt as well,reducing their interest expense burdenfrom almost $800 million in 2020 to just over $500 million in 2021. Tesla paid back $15 billion in debt in 2021 for a net debt reduction of $6 billion. There's very little doubt that other automobile companies will be forced to take on more debt to finance increased production and in this raising rate environment, that can snowball.</p>\n<p>Tesla is set to seecash flowof around $10 billion annually whereas a company like Ford has been fluctuating between a net positive and negative cash flow status for the past few years, and that's not expected to change through 2025 as they continue to increase investments in the electrification of their vehicles.</p>\n<p>What About Current Valuation</p>\n<p>Analystscurrently expect the company to report EPS of $5.38 for 2021 and grow at a fast pace to reach EPS of $10.33 for 2024. As I mentioned in my earlier article, I believe that, given comparison with other major automobile companies, the company is fairly valued at around 75x forward earnings.</p>\n<p>I do, however, believe that some of the current competition expectations are overblown for the near term, as I've been mentioning throughout the entire article. Therefore, I do believe that Tesla will outperform current expectations at least through 2023. This means that a 75x forward earnings multiple is the ground base for appropriate valuation, I believe.</p>\n<p>This presents the following fair value, with the implied increase potential:</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/052968e079d7fe8419e4790de451c9fd\" tg-width=\"620\" tg-height=\"201\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\">As you can see, this means that Tesla is almost 40% overvalued relative to earnings expectations, even if they overcome them by as much as 20%. However, given that these expectations are likely to be beaten, I don't believe that shorting the company is a good idea, but one thing that is worth looking out for is a general market correction.</p>\n<p>The Biggest Risk Of Owning Tesla</p>\n<p>The biggest risk with owning Tesla right now is that, in a general market correction, which can happen at any moment as the post-pandemic trade is winding down, companies with lofty expectations tend to fall the most as fair value is sought beyond what their potential is way down the line.</p>\n<p>I don't believe that shorting Tesla is the right approach, even though my disclosures down below and in previous article state that I am, given general market exposure. I am short simply because I don't believe that much upwards potential is there, whilst downward potential in a market correction is vast. So, given that I am mostly long, this short is a general portfolio hedge while I reduce positions in case of a correction.</p>\n<p>In Conclusion</p>\n<p>Tesla has several positive catalysts which should keep them on top of the EV industry growth roster for the next 24 to 36 months, while other companies struggle to make even a single penny on their new vehicles. And that's after all these S&amp;P 500 stocks fell this week to just 1% from their 50-day — or even dropped below it.</p>\n<p>The 50-day moving average is a widely watchedprice level at which stocks seek supportbefore falling more. And all these S&amp;P 500 stocks highlight how investors continue to brazenly buy stocks — even after they sell-off to near or even below this key level. And that \"buy-the-dip\" mentality is running the entire S&amp;P 500.</p>\n<p>\"The S&amp;P 500 has shown exceptional resilience this year in bouncing whenever it has tested its 50-day moving average,\" says Bespoke Investment Group.</p>\n<p>The Amazingly Resilient S&amp;P 500</p>\n<p>Already this year, the S&amp;P 500 closed below its 50-day moving average four times, Bespoke found. That's roughly in-line with history. Typically it happens eight times annually, and we'reroughly halfway through the year.</p>\n<p>But here's the interesting part that shows how \"buying the dip\" is in vogue. In just one week following the S&amp;P 500 falling below its 50-day moving average each time this year, it gained 3.95% on average.</p>\n<p>That's an astounding level of bounce back. Historically, the S&amp;P 500 only inched up 0.06% in the week after dropping to the 50-day moving average since 1945. And this year's average one-week bounce back ranks No. 1 for any year since at least World War II, Bespoke says.</p>\n<p>And it's not just a short bounce either. Following its drops below the 50-day moving average this year, the S&amp;P 500 was 5.7% higher, on average, a month later. That's much higher than the S&amp;P 500's typical 0.54% rise following drops to below the 50-week moving average going back to 1945.</p>\n<p>But what kinds ofstocks bounce back?</p>\n<p>Looking At This Week's S&amp;P 500 Sell-Off</p>\n<p>Monday's sell-off didn't quite knock the S&amp;P 500 below its 50-day moving average at the close. The S&amp;P 500 hit the 50-day and bounced intraday.</p>\n<p>But a look at how some individual stocks behaved gives a taste of what buy-the-dip investors are doing now. Take Dover, a maker of a variety of industrial parts and supplies. Shares were up more than 20% this year up until the sell-off on Monday. The stock then slid to just 1% above its 50-day line. But thatlured in the dip buyers, who pushed shares up 7.7% from the 50-day moving average.</p>\n<p>Investors also like to think of S&amp;P 500 tech stocks as buy-the-dip plays. But this week's example isn't a household name. PTC, a tech firm that helps companies upgrade their operations, Monday dropped to just 1% above its 50-day moving average, but since then it's blasted nearly 6% from that key support level.</p>\n<p>Even some S&amp;P 500 stocks that closed below their 50-day lines bounced in a big way. Teledyne Technologies actually ended Monday 0.4% below its 50-day moving average. And that's after all these S&P 500 stocks fell this week to just 1% from their 50-day — or even dropped below it.\nThe 50-day moving average is a widely watchedprice level at which stocks seek supportbefore falling more. And all these S&P 500 stocks highlight how investors continue to brazenly buy stocks — even after they sell-off to near or even below this key level. And that \"buy-the-dip\" mentality is running the entire S&P 500.\n\"The S&P 500 has shown exceptional resilience this year in bouncing whenever it has tested its 50-day moving average,\" says Bespoke Investment Group.\nThe Amazingly Resilient S&P 500\nAlready this year, the S&P 500 closed below its 50-day moving average four times, Bespoke found. That's roughly in-line with history. Typically it happens eight times annually, and we'reroughly halfway through the year.\nBut here's the interesting part that shows how \"buying the dip\" is in vogue. In just one week following the S&P 500 falling below its 50-day moving average each time this year, it gained 3.95% on average.\nThat's an astounding level of bounce back. Historically, the S&P 500 only inched up 0.06% in the week after dropping to the 50-day moving average since 1945. And this year's average one-week bounce back ranks No. 1 for any year since at least World War II, Bespoke says.\nAnd it's not just a short bounce either. Following its drops below the 50-day moving average this year, the S&P 500 was 5.7% higher, on average, a month later. That's much higher than the S&P 500's typical 0.54% rise following drops to below the 50-week moving average going back to 1945.\nBut what kinds ofstocks bounce back?\nLooking At This Week's S&P 500 Sell-Off\nMonday's sell-off didn't quite knock the S&P 500 below its 50-day moving average at the close. The S&P 500 hit the 50-day and bounced intraday.\nBut a look at how some individual stocks behaved gives a taste of what buy-the-dip investors are doing now. Take Dover, a maker of a variety of industrial parts and supplies. Shares were up more than 20% this year up until the sell-off on Monday. The stock then slid to just 1% above its 50-day line. But thatlured in the dip buyers, who pushed shares up 7.7% from the 50-day moving average.\nInvestors also like to think of S&P 500 tech stocks as buy-the-dip plays. But this week's example isn't a household name. PTC, a tech firm that helps companies upgrade their operations, Monday dropped to just 1% above its 50-day moving average, but since then it's blasted nearly 6% from that key support level.\nEven some S&P 500 stocks that closed below their 50-day lines bounced in a big way. Teledyne Technologies actually ended Monday 0.4% below its 50-day moving average.
