Everything from Hertz Global Holdings Inc.’s blockbuster order to buying by passive funds and a squeeze on short sellers.</p>\n<p>But other forces were at play in goosing the gain: options traders who piled on bullish bets, and market makers who were forced to purchase shares to hedge their positions as the stock surged.</p>\n<p>In other words, the tail wagging the dog. It’s a narrative that’s come up repeatedly in explaining mysterious moves, such as the big-tech rally in the summer of 2020 and this year’s mid-month market swoons.</p>\n<p>More than 2.4 million bullish contracts on Tesla changed hands Monday, a 14-month high, as traders rushed into speculative wagers to reap quick gains.</p>\n<p>The most-active contract, the $1,000 call expiring Friday, soared to $39.34 from $1.60 -- for a single-session gain of about 2,360%.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/cda02b1e0d014eab556a0107a93d2f93\" tg-width=\"1200\" tg-height=\"675\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"></p>\n<p>Investors spent $5.11 billion on call options, compared with a total of $279 million on puts, according to an estimate by Nomura Securities. The firm calls the 18-to-1 ratio “unheard of.” And all the spike in calls means options dealers needed to snap up shares to avoid unwanted risk.</p>\n<p>“This is incredible activity,” Chris Weston, head of research at Pepperstone Financial Pty, wrote in a client note. “We’ve seen a clear lack of regard for the cost of the options,” he added. “The stock subsequently goes in the money and dealers (who sold the calls) have to hedge their delta –- that means buying the underlying –- again this perpetuates the stock higher.”</p>\n<p>Shares of Tesla surged 13% Monday, lifting its market value above $1 trillion for the first time and propelling the automaker past <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/FB\">Facebook</a> Inc. to become the fifth-largest publicly traded company in the U.S. Up more than 30% this month, the gains have also made Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk the world’s richest person.</p>\n<p>Tesla climbed for the 11th time in 12 days, rising 4.8% as of 10:20 a.m. in New York Tuesday. Again, calls dominated option trading, with bullish contracts accounting for nine of the 10 most active ones.</p>\n<p>The interplay between the equity and options markets can be complex. To illustrate the dynamics, Brent Kochuba, founder of analytic service SpotGamma, plotted Tesla’s stock against delta, or the theoretical value of stock required for market makers to hedge the directional exposure resulting from all options activity.</p>\n<p>In the simplest form, when someone buys calls, a dealer must buy Tesla’s stock to hedge the delta exposure generated by those options trades. If the stock keeps rising, it forces dealers to buy more shares, a process know as gamma hedging.</p>\n<p>According to Kochuba’s analysis, Monday started with traders selling calls, which led to a slight negative delta reading. As the stock started to lift off around 10 a.m. in New York, these call sellers were forced to cover their positions. That coincided with Tesla’s share advance toward $980.</p>\n<p>Around noon, traders began flooding in to purchase calls, sparking a surge in delta hedging that accompanied Tesla’s ascent toward $1,000. Then two hours later, another wave of call buying hit the market. The stock peaked near $1,045, right before the estimated delta hedging started to taper off.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/cbcb67cb590618f82cf7fadf5b204854\" tg-width=\"1200\" tg-height=\"730\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"></p>\n<p>Notably, half of the calls traded were maturing Friday. The Tesla $1,050 call expiring exactly that day -- the second most active contract on Monday -- surged to $18.19 from 71 cents, a 25-fold increase.</p>\n<p>“This was an incredible push by short duration traders to push into calls,” said Kochuba. That “ likely forced market makers to aggressively hedge long.”</p>\n<p>The fact that all the trading was concentrated in short-dated options can be viewed as a tactic by some traders trying to take advantage of a phenomenon known as a “gamma squeeze” -- betting that as the value of Tesla shares gets closer to an option’s strike price, dealers will have to buy more and more of the underlying stock.</p>\n<p>“This is the definition of ‘weaponized gamma,’” said Nomura strategist Charlie McElligott.</p>\n<p>In some way, this technical explanation may help shed some light on why Tesla’s stock looks unhinged from business fundamentals. At Monday’s close of $1,025, the stock was already 38% ahead of where analysts see it stand 12 months from now.</p>\n<p>Of course, not all options buyers are ignoring Tesla’s fundamentals, and it can be true that analysts simply have underestimated the company’s potentials. Still, a case can be made that many traders may have been lured into this momentum-chasing game regardless of the outlook of car deliveries.</p>\n<p>Consider Monday’s open interest. While the trading volume of calls doubled from the previous day, open interest only increased by toughly 5%. Everything from Hertz Global Holdings Inc.’s blockbuster order to buying by passive funds and a squeeze on short sellers.\nBut other forces were at play in goosing the gain: options traders who piled on bullish bets, and market makers who were forced to purchase shares to hedge their positions as the stock surged.\nIn other words, the tail wagging the dog. It’s a narrative that’s come up repeatedly in explaining mysterious moves, such as the big-tech rally in the summer of 2020 and this year’s mid-month market swoons.\nMore than 2.4 million bullish contracts on Tesla changed hands Monday, a 14-month high, as traders rushed into speculative wagers to reap quick gains.\nThe most-active contract, the $1,000 call expiring Friday, soared to $39.34 from $1.60 -- for a single-session gain of about 2,360%.\n\nInvestors spent $5.11 billion on call options, compared with a total of $279 million on puts, according to an estimate by Nomura Securities. The firm calls the 18-to-1 ratio “unheard of.” And all the spike in calls means options dealers needed to snap up shares to avoid unwanted risk.\n“This is incredible activity,” Chris Weston, head of research at Pepperstone Financial Pty, wrote in a client note. “We’ve seen a clear lack of regard for the cost of the options,” he added. “The stock subsequently goes in the money and dealers (who sold the calls) have to hedge their delta –- that means buying the underlying –- again this perpetuates the stock higher.”\nShares of Tesla surged 13% Monday, lifting its market value above $1 trillion for the first time and propelling the automaker past Facebook Inc. to become the fifth-largest publicly traded company in the U.S. Up more than 30% this month, the gains have also made Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk the world’s richest person.\nTesla climbed for the 11th time in 12 days, rising 4.8% as of 10:20 a.m. in New York Tuesday. Again, calls dominated option trading, with bullish contracts accounting for nine of the 10 most active ones.\nThe interplay between the equity and options markets can be complex. To illustrate the dynamics, Brent Kochuba, founder of analytic service SpotGamma, plotted Tesla’s stock against delta, or the theoretical value of stock required for market makers to hedge the directional exposure resulting from all options activity.\nIn the simplest form, when someone buys calls, a dealer must buy Tesla’s stock to hedge the delta exposure generated by those options trades. If the stock keeps rising, it forces dealers to buy more shares, a process know as gamma hedging.\nAccording to Kochuba’s analysis, Monday started with traders selling calls, which led to a slight negative delta reading. As the stock started to lift off around 10 a.m. in New York, these call sellers were forced to cover their positions. That coincided with Tesla’s share advance toward $980.\nAround noon, traders began flooding in to purchase calls, sparking a surge in delta hedging that accompanied Tesla’s ascent toward $1,000. Then two hours later, another wave of call buying hit the market. The stock peaked near $1,045, right before the estimated delta hedging started to taper off.\n\nNotably, half of the calls traded were maturing Friday. The Tesla $1,050 call expiring exactly that day -- the second most active contract on Monday -- surged to $18.19 from 71 cents, a 25-fold increase.\n“This was an incredible push by short duration traders to push into calls,” said Kochuba. That “ likely forced market makers to aggressively hedge long.”\nThe fact that all the trading was concentrated in short-dated options can be viewed as a tactic by some traders trying to take advantage of a phenomenon known as a “gamma squeeze” -- betting that as the value of Tesla shares gets closer to an option’s strike price, dealers will have to buy more and more of the underlying stock.\n“This is the definition of ‘weaponized gamma,’” said Nomura strategist Charlie McElligott.\nIn some way, this technical explanation may help shed some light on why Tesla’s stock looks unhinged from business fundamentals. At Monday’s close of $1,025, the stock was already 38% ahead of where analysts see it stand 12 months from now.\nOf course, not all options buyers are ignoring Tesla’s fundamentals, and it can be true that analysts simply have underestimated the company’s potentials. Still, a case can be made that many traders may have been lured into this momentum-chasing game regardless of the outlook of car deliveries.\nConsider Monday’s open interest. While the trading volume of calls doubled from the previous day, open interest only increased by toughly 5%. In other words, a large portion of the volume came from day traders.\n“Tesla continues to make a mockery of analysts’ valuation models,” Weston at Pepperstone said. “Trading it is the very essence of buying high and selling higher.”\nTo Kochuba at SpotGamma, while Monday’s options activity helped push the stock higher, the boost is getting shaky. For one, the cost of options has become more expensive. Plus, more than 30% of dealers’ gamma exposure is expected to drop off upon Friday’s expiration, meaning hedges will be forced to adjust quickly in coming days.\n“I believe that creates a vacuum for higher but unstable stock prices,” he said.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":594,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":852863093,"gmtCreate":1635257488861,"gmtModify":1635257488934,"author":{"id":"4088600990257790","authorId":"4088600990257790","name":"JayTee","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/bc8786d7e8ad3cb48facd135a63ef433","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4088600990257790","authorIdStr":"4088600990257790"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 to the moon ","listText":"👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 to the moon ","text":"👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 to the moon","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/852863093","repostId":"2178721405","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"2178721405","kind":"highlight","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"The leading daily newsletter for the latest financial and business news. 33Yrs Helping Stock Investors with Investing Insights, Tools, News & More.","home_visible":0,"media_name":"Investors","id":"1085713068","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/608dd68a89ed486e18f64efe3136266c"},"pubTimestamp":1635252117,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2178721405?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-10-26 20:41","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Missed Tesla? But <b>Tesla</b> just did it — and analysts insist another is on the way.</p>\n<p>Analysts think <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/FB\">Facebook</a></b> should be the sixth S&P 500 company valued at $1 trillion or more in 12 months or less, returning it to the trillion-dollar club. It would put the social networking giant in the same trillion-dollar league as <b>Apple</b>, <b>Microsoft</b>, <b>Alphabet</b>, <b>Amazon.com</b> and now Tesla.</p>\n<p>Shares of Facebook closed Monday at 328.69, down more than 14% from the 52-week high. That parked the company's valuation at $927 billion. But that was prior to the company late Monday topping third-quarter profit forecasts by 1.3% and jumping in after-hours trading to north of 337 a share. At this price, Facebook is worth $950 billion.</p>\n<p>It's only a matter of time until Facebook returns to the rarefied trillion-dollar air, though, say S&P 500 analysts.</p>\n<h2>Trillion Dollar Redux For Facebook</h2>\n<p>Predicting Facebook will be a $1 trillion company is somewhat of an anticlimactic call.</p>\n<p>The company first closed above a trillion-dollar valuation back in July of this year. But since then, it's been on a rough run. Allegations of putting profit ahead of users' mental health, a high-profile outage and exposure to data limits at Apple knocked Facebook from its trillion-dollar perch. <b>Snap</b>'s recent disappointing third quarter and warning of problems tailoring social media ads on iPhones only fanned the worries.</p>\n<p>But analysts remain resolute on Facebook's future. They're calling for the stock to rally another 27% from Monday's close to 416.43 in 12 months, says data from S&P Global Market Intelligence and MarketSmith. And if they're right, that would make Facebook a company valued at $1.17 billion. Should you buy Facebook stock now?</p>\n<p>Interestingly, if analysts are right, Facebook would supplant Tesla as the fifth most-valuable company in the S&P 500. Analysts actually think Tesla's stock will drop 23% to 787.15. And if that's correct, it means Tesla would be worth just $779.3 billion, or a third less than what they think Facebook will be worth in 12 months. Should you buy Tesla stock now?</p>\n<h2>Who's Up In S&P 500 After Facebook?</h2>\n<p>Facebook and Tesla might jockey for the trillion-dollar prize. But other than those two, are any other S&P 500 stocks anywhere near a trillion? Nothing immediate.</p>\n<p>Warren Buffett's <b>Berkshire Hathaway</b> would appear next in line, as its market value is now $657.9 billion. Analysts, though, think even in 12 months time the company will be worth just $730.8 billion, falling shy of the trillion-dollar mark by nearly 40%. Also, it's not a particularly fast grower, so unlikely to surprise much to the upside. Analysts think Berkshire Hathaway's adjusted profit per share will only grow by 6.9% in 2022.</p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/V\">Visa</a></b> is a likely candidate in due time. The payment processing firm is already worth nearly $500 billion. And its adjusted profit per share is seen jumping 25% in 2022 to $7.26. Even so, analysts don't think it's going to happen anytime soon. Analysts are calling for the stock to inch up just 0.9% in 12 months.</p>\n<p>So it seems the world might need to be satisfied with five, or maybe six, trillion dollar companies for some time.</p>\n<h2>Analysts: The Most Valuable S&P 500 Companies In The Future</h2>\n<p><i>Current and projected market values</i></p>\n<table>\n <thead>\n <tr>\n <th>Company</th>\n <th>Ticker</th>\n <th>Stock YTD % ch.</th>\n <th>Market value now ($ trillions)</th>\n <th>Analysts' 12-month market value target</th>\n <th>Sector</th>\n </tr>\n </thead>\n <tbody>\n <tr>\n <td>Apple</td>\n <td></td>\n <td>12.0%</td>\n <td>$2.5</td>\n <td><b>$2.7</b></td>\n <td>Information Technology</td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>Microsoft</td>\n <td></td>\n <td>38.5%</td>\n <td>$2.3</td>\n <td><b>$2.5</b></td>\n <td>Information Technology</td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>Alphabet</td>\n <td></td>\n <td>56.8%</td>\n <td>$1.8</td>\n <td><b>$2.2</b></td>\n <td>Communication Services</td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>Amazon.com</td>\n <td></td>\n <td>1.9%</td>\n <td>$1.7</td>\n <td><b>$2.1</b></td>\n <td>Consumer Discretionary</td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>Facebook</td>\n <td></td>\n <td>20.3%</td>\n <td>$0.9</td>\n <td><b>$1.2</b></td>\n <td>Communication Services</td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>Tesla</td>\n <td></td>\n <td>45.2%</td>\n <td>$1.0</td>\n <td><b>$0.8</b></td>\n <td>Consumer Discretionary</td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>Berkshire Hathaway</td>\n <td></td>\n <td>25.5%</td>\n <td>$0.7</td>\n <td><b>$0.7</b></td>\n <td>Financials</td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>Visa</td>\n <td></td>\n <td>6.9%</td>\n <td>$0.6</td>\n <td><b>$0.6</b></td>\n <td>Information Technology</td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>Nvidia</td>\n <td></td>\n <td>77.4%</td>\n <td>$0.6</td>\n <td><b>$0.6</b></td>\n <td>Information Technology</td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td>JPMorgan Chase</td>\n <td></td>\n <td>34.5%</td>\n <td>$0.5</td>\n <td><b>$0.5</b></td>\n <td>Financials</td>\n </tr>\n </tbody>\n</table>\n<h5>Sources: IBD, S&P Global Market Intelligence</h5>","collect":0,"html":"<!DOCTYPE html>\n<html>\n<head>\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; charset=utf-8\" />\n<meta name=\"viewport\" content=\"width=device-width,initial-scale=1.0,minimum-scale=1.0,maximum-scale=1.0,user-scalable=no\"/>\n<meta name=\"format-detection\" content=\"telephone=no,email=no,address=no\" />\n<title>Missed Tesla? But Tesla just did it — and analysts insist another is on the way.\nAnalysts think Facebook should be the sixth S&P 500 company valued at $1 trillion or more in 12 months or less, returning it to the trillion-dollar club. It would put the social networking giant in the same trillion-dollar league as Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon.com and now Tesla.\nShares of Facebook closed Monday at 328.69, down more than 14% from the 52-week high. That parked the company's valuation at $927 billion. But that was prior to the company late Monday topping third-quarter profit forecasts by 1.3% and jumping in after-hours trading to north of 337 a share. At this price, Facebook is worth $950 billion.\nIt's only a matter of time until Facebook returns to the rarefied trillion-dollar air, though, say S&P 500 analysts.\nTrillion Dollar Redux For Facebook\nPredicting Facebook will be a $1 trillion company is somewhat of an anticlimactic call.\nThe company first closed above a trillion-dollar valuation back in July of this year. But since then, it's been on a rough run. Allegations of putting profit ahead of users' mental health, a high-profile outage and exposure to data limits at Apple knocked Facebook from its trillion-dollar perch. Snap's recent disappointing third quarter and warning of problems tailoring social media ads on iPhones only fanned the worries.\nBut analysts remain resolute on Facebook's future. They're calling for the stock to rally another 27% from Monday's close to 416.43 in 12 months, says data from S&P Global Market Intelligence and MarketSmith. And if they're right, that would make Facebook a company valued at $1.17 billion. Should you buy Facebook stock now?\nInterestingly, if analysts are right, Facebook would supplant Tesla as the fifth most-valuable company in the S&P 500. Analysts actually think Tesla's stock will drop 23% to 787.15. And if that's correct, it means Tesla would be worth just $779.3 billion, or a third less than what they think Facebook will be worth in 12 months. Should you buy Tesla stock now?\nWho's Up In S&P 500 After Facebook?\nFacebook and Tesla might jockey for the trillion-dollar prize. But other than those two, are any other S&P 500 stocks anywhere near a trillion? Nothing immediate.\nWarren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway would appear next in line, as its market value is now $657.9 billion. Analysts, though, think even in 12 months time the company will be worth just $730.8 billion, falling shy of the trillion-dollar mark by nearly 40%. Also, it's not a particularly fast grower, so unlikely to surprise much to the upside. Analysts think Berkshire Hathaway's adjusted profit per share will only grow by 6.9% in 2022.\nVisa is a likely candidate in due time. The payment processing firm is already worth nearly $500 billion. And its adjusted profit per share is seen jumping 25% in 2022 to $7.26. Even so, analysts don't think it's going to happen anytime soon. Analysts are calling for the stock to inch up just 0.9% in 12 months.\nSo it seems the world might need to be satisfied with five, or maybe six, trillion dollar companies for some time.\nAnalysts: The In addition to the ability to browse homes online, consumers want tools like 3D virtual tours, digital floor plans, and video walkthroughs with agents. And younger generations expect even more.</p>\n<p>According to a recent study from <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/Z\">Zillow</a> Group</b> (NASDAQ:Z) (NASDAQ:ZG), over <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a>-third of Gen Z and millennial consumers would be comfortable buying a home online. Collectively, these trends create an opportunity for disruption, and Zillow is leading the charge.</p>\n<p>Here's why this stock could make you a millionaire.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/0c603c1ee1eb5e3b2e9bda0f6cf4e33f\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Image source: Getty Images</span></p>\n<h2>A big market opportunity</h2>\n<p>In 2006 Zillow launched the first version of its website. This ad-powered marketplace brought transparency to the real estate industry, allowing consumers to browse listings and view home value estimates in real time. But Zillow has since expanded on that digital-first foundation.</p>\n<p>Today, the company connects renters with landlords and homebuyers and sellers with agents, and it provides access to mortgage, title, and escrow services. This end-to-end approach streamlines transactions, removing the complexities created by third-party lenders and closing service providers.</p>\n<p>Zillow also buys homes directly through its Zillow Offers business, giving sellers the certainty of an all-cash offer and the convenience of never having to list their homes. In short, Zillow simplifies residential real estate, one of the largest markets in the U.S. In fact, management puts the company's market opportunity at over $300 billion.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/849e4ca12a8d05ab97c2d842298cdb21\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Image source: Zillow Group</span></p>\n<h2><b>A strong competitive position</b></h2>\n<p>Zillow has become synonymous with real estate. Last year, 9.6 billion people visited the company's websites and mobile apps, making Zillow the most visited brand in the industry, according to Comscore. More importantly, because the company draws more viewers to its listings, Zillow can acquire customers at a lower cost than its rivals.</p>\n<p>Likewise, its foundational Internet, Media, and Technology (IMT) business -- which comprises ad revenue from real estate agents, rental properties, and home builders -- is profitable. In fact, Zillow generated more gross profit in 2020 than any other tech company in the real estate space. That extra cash flow means Zillow can outspend its rivals.</p>\n<p>Collectively, these advantages have translated into solid financial results.</p>\n<table>\n <thead>\n <tr>\n <th><p>Metric</p></th>\n <th><p>Q1 2018 (TTM)</p></th>\n <th><p>Q1 2021 (TTM)</p></th>\n <th><p>CAGR</p></th>\n </tr>\n </thead>\n <tbody>\n <tr>\n <td width=\"156\"><p>Revenue</p></td>\n <td width=\"156\"><p>$1.0 billion</p></td>\n <td width=\"156\"><p>$1.8 billion</p></td>\n <td width=\"156\"><p>19%</p></td>\n </tr>\n <tr>\n <td width=\"156\"><p>Free cash flow</p></td>\n <td width=\"156\"><p>$139.8 million</p></td>\n <td width=\"156\"><p>$276.9 million</p></td>\n <td width=\"156\"><p>26%</p></td>\n </tr>\n </tbody>\n</table>\n<p>Source: Ycharts. TTM = trailing-12-months. CAGR = compound annual growth rate.</p>\n<p>Zillow's financial performance is made all the more impressive by its recent transformation. With the launch of Zillow Offers in April 2018, the company started buying and selling homes directly. Of course, homes aren't cheap, and this business requires sizable upfront investments that erode gross profit.</p>\n<p>However, management is moving up the learning curve. Zillow sold 5,337 homes in 2020, up 24% from the prior year. More importantly, the company reported a 9% gross margin in its Homes business in Q1 2021, up from 5% in Q1 2020. Investors should look for Zillow to maintain that momentum.</p>\n<h2>A bright future</h2>\n<p>Since Q1 2001, the median price for houses sold in the U.S. has climbed from $169,800 to $374,900. Put another way, home prices tend to rise about 4% annually. In addition to the ability to browse homes online, consumers want tools like 3D virtual tours, digital floor plans, and video walkthroughs with agents. And younger generations expect even more.\nAccording to a recent study from Zillow Group (NASDAQ:Z) (NASDAQ:ZG), over one-third of Gen Z and millennial consumers would be comfortable buying a home online. Collectively, these trends create an opportunity for disruption, and Zillow is leading the charge.\nHere's why this stock could make you a millionaire.\nImage source: Getty Images\nA big market opportunity\nIn 2006 Zillow launched the first version of its website. This ad-powered marketplace brought transparency to the real estate industry, allowing consumers to browse listings and view home value estimates in real time. But Zillow has since expanded on that digital-first foundation.\nToday, the company connects renters with landlords and homebuyers and sellers with agents, and it provides access to mortgage, title, and escrow services. This end-to-end approach streamlines transactions, removing the complexities created by third-party lenders and closing service providers.\nZillow also buys homes directly through its Zillow Offers business, giving sellers the certainty of an all-cash offer and the convenience of never having to list their homes. In short, Zillow simplifies residential real estate, one of the largest markets in the U.S. In fact, management puts the company's market opportunity at over $300 billion.\nImage source: Zillow Group\nA strong competitive position\nZillow has become synonymous with real estate. Last year, 9.6 billion people visited the company's websites and mobile apps, making Zillow the most visited brand in the industry, according to Comscore. More importantly, because the company draws more viewers to its listings, Zillow can acquire customers at a lower cost than its rivals.\nLikewise, its foundational Internet, Media, and Technology (IMT) business -- which comprises ad revenue from real estate agents, rental properties, and home builders -- is profitable. In fact, Zillow generated more gross profit in 2020 than any other tech company in the real estate space. That extra cash flow means Zillow can outspend its rivals.\nCollectively, these advantages have translated into solid financial results.\n\n\n\nMetric\nQ1 2018 (TTM)\nQ1 2021 (TTM)\nCAGR\n\n\n\n\nRevenue\n$1.0 billion\n$1.8 billion\n19%\n\n\nFree cash flow\n$139.8 million\n$276.9 million\n26%\n\n\n\nSource: Ycharts. TTM = trailing-12-months. CAGR = compound annual growth rate.\nZillow's financial performance is made all the more impressive by its recent transformation. With the launch of Zillow Offers in April 2018, the company started buying and selling homes directly. Of course, homes aren't cheap, and this business requires sizable upfront investments that erode gross profit.\nHowever, management is moving up the learning curve. Zillow sold 5,337 homes in 2020, up 24% from the prior year. More importantly, the company reported a 9% gross margin in its Homes business in Q1 2021, up from 5% in Q1 2020. Investors should look for Zillow to maintain that momentum.\nA bright future\nSince Q1 2001, the median price for houses sold in the U.S. has climbed from $169,800 to $374,900. Put another way, home prices tend to rise about 4% annually. To add to that, millennials represent the largest generation in the country, and as they age into their homebuying years Zillow believes the number of U.S. households will rise 5% by 2025.\nIn other words, the residential real estate market should see rising prices and increased demand in the years ahead, meaning Zillow's market opportunity should only get bigger.\nMore importantly, I believe the future of real estate is more streamlined and digital, and Zillow's business model plays into that trend. Yet the company's trailing-12-month revenue of $3.4 billion represents a fraction of its addressable market. Sales from regulatory credits—a source of revenue seen as less sustainable than sales of vehicles—-fell, but operating profits rose to record highs because of strong profitability in the automotive division.</p>\n<p>Tesla generates the credits by making more than its fair share of zero- emission cars and sells them to manufacturers that still rely on internal-combustion engines. Pessimists on the stock believe that source of income will dwindle over time.</p>\n<p>The stock, however, was down 1.5% in early trading Tuesday. The S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average, for comparison, had fallen 0.6% and 0.4%, respectively.</p>\n<p>It is a muted reaction to a good quarter, typical of the way stocks of mature businesses behave. Tesla stock moved more than 10% in response to three of the four 2019 quarterly reports. But it rose or fell an average of about 2.5% in response to the 2020 earnings reports.</p>\n<p>The typical 2020 move was a fall in the price in response to news of better-than-expected results. The same thing happened after the release of results for the first quarter of 2021.</p>\n<p>That is another sign of maturity. A small drop in response to better-than-expected results is the typical outcome for stocks. Investors always expect companies to exceed analyst projections, and when they get that result, they “sell the news.”</p>\n<p>The reaction among Wall Street analysts to the latest results is yet another sign of maturity. Mizuho analyst Vijay Rakesh raised his target for Tesla’s stock price by $5 to $825 following the news, for a bump of less than 1%.</p>\n<p>Back in January, RBC analyst Joe Spak raised his target price to $700 a share from $339 after changing how he thought about Tesla’s business. That was a huge target-price change from a large broker.</p>\n<p>Smaller changes in price targets can indicate a business is becoming more stable, and that analysts believe they have a grip on what is happening. That reduces the need for them to dramatically overhaul their views in response to events.</p>\n<p>Overall, the average analyst target price is up about $18, or 3%, in reaction to Monday’s results to about $644 a share. Tesla shares are trading about 1% or 2% above the average analyst target price.</p>\n<p>Target prices generally reflect where analysts think a stock should trade to earn a fair return out into the future. The average target price on stocks in the S&P 500 implies a gain of 7%.</p>\n<p>Even the fact that Tesla is trading around its average analyst target price is a sign of maturity. A year ago, the average target price for Tesla stock was about $225, while the price was above $300.</p>\n<p>Shareholders and bulls on the stock might like a bigger response from the stock when earnings come in strong, but the days of 20% moves, up or down, might be gone for Tesla. That is more evidence that Tesla is here to stay as the world’s most valuable car company.</p>","source":"lsy1601382232898","collect":0,"html":"<!DOCTYPE html>\n<html>\n<head>\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; charset=utf-8\" />\n<meta name=\"viewport\" content=\"width=device-width,initial-scale=1.0,minimum-scale=1.0,maximum-scale=1.0,user-scalable=no\"/>\n<meta name=\"format-detection\" content=\"telephone=no,email=no,address=no\" />\n<title>Tesla Is a Mature Business. Mizuho analyst Vijay Rakesh raised his target for Tesla’s stock price by $5 to $825 following the news, for a bump of less than 1%.\nBack in January, RBC analyst Joe Spak raised his target price to $700 a share from $339 after changing how he thought about Tesla’s business. That was a huge target-price change from a large broker.\nSmaller changes in price targets can indicate a business is becoming more stable, and that analysts believe they have a grip on what is happening. That reduces the need for them to dramatically overhaul their views in response to events.\nOverall, the average analyst target price is up about $18, or 3%, in reaction to Monday’s results to about $644 a share. Tesla shares are trading about 1% or 2% above the average analyst target price.\nTarget prices generally reflect where analysts think a stock should trade to earn a fair return out into the future. The average target price on stocks in the S&P 500 implies a gain of 7%.\nEven the fact that Tesla is trading around its average analyst target price is a sign of maturity. A year ago, the average target price for Tesla stock was about $225, while the price was above $300.\nShareholders and bulls on the stock might like a bigger response from the stock when earnings come in strong, but the days of 20% moves, up or down, might be gone for Tesla. That is more evidence that Tesla is here to stay as the world’s most valuable car company.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":121,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":175472951,"gmtCreate":1627048106173,"gmtModify":1633768464882,"author":{"id":"4088600990257790","authorId":"4088600990257790","name":"JayTee","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/bc8786d7e8ad3cb48facd135a63ef433","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4088600990257790","authorIdStr":"4088600990257790"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Great news! In fact, she made a name for her asset management firm (ARK Invest) in 2019 when she put a $4,000 price target on the stock. Since then, shares have undergone a 5-for-1 split, meaning that her original share price target now corresponds to $800.</p>\n<p>Of course, Tesla stock hit $900 a share earlier this year. And though it's fallen by 27% since then, Wood is more bullish than ever. In fact, ARK Invest recently bumped its price target to $3,000 per share by 2025. That represents 365% upside, or an annualized return of 47% over the next four years.</p>\n<p>So, should you add Tesla to your portfolio? Let's take a look under the hood.</p>\n<h2>Tesla's present</h2>\n<p>Tesla is the market-leading manufacturer of electric vehicles (EVs). Last year, the company sold 499,500 EVs, capturing 16% of the global market. And that momentum has carried into 2021, as Tesla produced 206,400 vehicles in the second quarter, up 150% over the prior year.</p>\n<p>That rapid scaling underscores <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> of Tesla's key advantages: manufacturing efficiency. In fact, CEO Elon Musk has often said this would be the company's primary long-term advantage, and he now has data to back that claim: Tesla posted an industry-leading operating margin of 6.3% in 2020.</p>\n<p>How did that happen? Last year, Tesla ramped production of the Model 3 and started producing the Model Y at Gigafactory Shanghai. This helped expand and localize its China business, offering a cost-efficient alternative to importing vehicles. At the same time, the company started making the Model Y at its factory in Fremont, California, further boosting capacity.</p>\n<p>In both cases, Tesla's highly automated, scalable approach to manufacturing is paying off. The Model Y was immediately profitable, marking the first time in the company's history that a new product achieved profitability in its first quarter of production. Investors should look for this trend to continue.</p>\n<p>However, while Tesla's performance in 2020 was impressive, the company's future looks even brighter. Tesla recently unveiled its new 4680 battery cell, an innovative design that will slash production costs by 56%, increase EV range by 54%, and cut capital expenditure by 69%.</p>\n<p>During the most recent earnings call, Musk said Tesla is roughly 12 to 18 months away from \"volume production of the 4680.\" But on the bright side, he believes this technology will allow Tesla to build a fully autonomous $25,000 EV in the next three years.</p>\n<h2>Tesla's future</h2>\n<p>If Tesla does indeed build an affordable self-driving EV in the next three years, it would expand the company's market opportunity dramatically. Rather than simply making cars, Tesla could follow through on its plan to launch an autonomous ride-hailing service, a market that ARK Invest values at $1.2 trillion by 2030.</p>\n<p>To add, Tesla could also sell its self-driving software to other automakers. In fact, Musk has already had \"preliminary discussions about licensing autopilot.\" In either case, this would transform Tesla's business, replacing its dependence on cyclical hardware sales (i.e., EVs) with highly recurring revenue in the form of ride fares or software subscription fees.</p>\n<p>Of course, before rushing to buy the stock, investors should consider Tesla's valuation. Shares currently trade at an absurd 19.8 times sales, while automakers like <b>General Motors</b> trade at a much more reasonable 0.7 times sales.</p>\n<p>However, a decade from now, that valuation may not look so crazy if Tesla does disrupt the mobility industry. For what it's worth, I'm a Tesla shareholder and I wouldn't sell this stock if it got cut in half tomorrow. In fact, I'd buy more.</p>","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"<!DOCTYPE html>\n<html>\n<head>\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; charset=utf-8\" />\n<meta name=\"viewport\" content=\"width=device-width,initial-scale=1.0,minimum-scale=1.0,maximum-scale=1.0,user-scalable=no\"/>\n<meta name=\"format-detection\" content=\"telephone=no,email=no,address=no\" />\n<title>This Growth Stock Has 365% Upside, According to Cathie Wood</title>\n<style type=\"text/css\">\na,abbr,acronym,address,applet,article,aside,audio,b,big,blockquote,body,canvas,caption,center,cite,code,dd,del,details,dfn,div,dl,dt,\nem,embed,fieldset,figcaption,figure,footer,form,h1,h2,h3,h4,h5,h6,header,hgroup,html,i,iframe,img,ins,kbd,label,legend,li,mark,menu,nav,\nobject,ol,output,p,pre,q,ruby,s,samp,section,small,span,strike,strong,sub,summary,sup,table,tbody,td,tfoot,th,thead,time,tr,tt,u,ul,var,video{ font:inherit;margin:0;padding:0;vertical-align:baseline;border:0 }\nbody{ font-size:16px; line-height:1.5; color:#999; background:transparent; }\n.wrapper{ overflow:hidden;word-break:break-all;padding:10px; }\nh1,h2{ font-weight:normal; line-height:1.35; margin-bottom:.6em; }\nh3,h4,h5,h6{ line-height:1.35; margin-bottom:1em; }\nh1{ font-size:24px; }\nh2{ font-size:20px; }\nh3{ font-size:18px; }\nh4{ font-size:16px; }\nh5{ font-size:14px; }\nh6{ font-size:12px; }\np,ul,ol,blockquote,dl,table{ margin:1.2em 0; }\nul,ol{ margin-left:2em; }\nul{ list-style:disc; }\nol{ list-style:decimal; }\nli,li p{ margin:10px 0;}\nimg{ max-width:100%;display:block;margin:0 auto 1em; }\nblockquote{ color:#B5B2B1; border-left:3px solid #aaa; padding:1em; }\nstrong,b{font-weight:bold;}\nem,i{font-style:italic;}\ntable{ width:100%;border-collapse:collapse;border-spacing:1px;margin:1em 0;font-size:.9em; }\nth,td{ padding:5px;text-align:left;border:1px solid #aaa; }\nth{ font-weight:bold;background:#5d5d5d; }\n.symbol-link{font-weight:bold;}\n/* header{ border-bottom:1px solid #494756; } */\n.title{ margin:0 0 8px;line-height:1.3;color:#ddd; }\n.meta {color:#5e5c6d;font-size:13px;margin:0 0 .5em; }\na{text-decoration:none; color:#2a4b87;}\n.meta .head { display: inline-block; overflow: hidden}\n.head .h-thumb { width: 30px; height: 30px; margin: 0; padding: 0; border-radius: 50%; float: left;}\n.head .h-content { margin: 0; padding: 0 0 0 9px; float: left;}\n.head .h-name {font-size: 13px; color: #eee; margin: 0;}\n.head .h-time {font-size: 11px; color: #7E829C; margin: 0;line-height: 11px;}\n.small {font-size: 12.5px; display: inline-block; transform: scale(0.9); -webkit-transform: scale(0.9); transform-origin: left; -webkit-transform-origin: left;}\n.smaller {font-size: 12.5px; display: inline-block; transform: scale(0.8); -webkit-transform: scale(0.8); transform-origin: left; -webkit-transform-origin: left;}\n.bt-text {font-size: 12px;margin: 1.5em 0 0 0}\n.bt-text p {margin: 0}\n</style>\n</head>\n<body>\n<div class=\"wrapper\">\n<header>\n<h2 class=\"title\">\nThis Growth Stock Has 365% Upside, According to Cathie Wood\n</h2>\n\n<h4 class=\"meta\">\n\n\n2021-07-23 11:22 GMT+8 <a href=https://www.fool.com/investing/2021/07/22/growth-stock-has-365-upside-cathie-wood-tesla/><strong>Motley Fool</strong></a>\n\n\n</h4>\n\n</header>\n<article>\n<div>\n<p>Cathie Wood has long been bullish on Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA). These advantages mean that the company will remain superior in the near term when it comes to profitability and diversity within the EV industry and can best utilize the rapid growth rate the entire industry is expecting.</p>\n<p>The Long-Term Headwinds Haven't Changed</p>\n<p>As I've been highlighting for several months now,Tesla's long-term prospects have dimmedsince other automobile companies like Ford and General Motors (GM) in the United States, NIO (NIO) and others in the Asia-Pacific region and other European and South Korean automobile manufacturers moved up their electrification process timelines. The main reason for this is that these companies have very solid brand recognition, and individuals who have owned these models for years or decades have the option to opt for an electric version of those; they choose those over trying out a new untested model a majority of the time.</p>\n<p>With companies like Ford introducing the all-electric F-150 and others, it's unclear how Tesla can maintain this high growth rate beyond 2024 as these models are expected to hit the streets and begin capturing back market share away from Tesla and other current models. Other factors like Tesla opening up their charging station network to all EV models, as well as a massive capital injection into EV charging stations in the most recent infrastructure spending bill in the United States, will surely help Tesla's income when it charges for the use, but it also helps other companies overcome the main hurdle of widespread adoption - clearing a pathway for more and more EV models to emerge.</p>\n<p>The Short-Term Tailwinds Are Emerging</p>\n<p>Tesla has several near-term tailwinds which will keep way ahead of any competition for the next 12 to 24 months. These mostly all boil down to profitability but also focus on various business model advantages.</p>\n<p>1. A positive profit margin: While other companies are just now beginning to invest in transforming their manufacturing facilities from fossil fuel intake engines to electric vehicle production, Tesla has done this and way more efficiently. Since they've built these from scratch, they've mostly automated the process and thus enjoy a much higher profit margin. Other companies won't see a profit per vehicle for years to come.</p>\n<p>2. Surging battery manufacturing: Although other companies have a mixed position on whether to manufacture their own batteries or set up joint ventures with existing companies, Tesla has been churning out batteries for years and have, as similar with the vehicle manufacturing process, nearly fully automated the process to maximize profits per unit.</p>\n<p>3. International manufacturing: Other companies, thus far, have focused on restructuring and transforming current assembly plants in the United States and will likely take several more years before they do so for other international facilities, which means they will need to spend a fortune shipping these new vehicles around the world to the EMEA and the Asia-Pacific. Tesla, on the other hand, has manufacturing facilities in the United States and in China and is set to open their plant in Germany as well as being in final development stages of an India plant, which will allow them to access a much larger market.</p>\n<p>4. Charging stations advantage: Although the new infrastructure bill in the United States, as well as massive investments in countries like Japan and China, are certain to put in hundreds of thousands of new EV charging stations across the globe, this will take time. So far, only Tesla has a real robust charging network across the world. A recent development, which does have negative elements to it as mentioned earlier, has a positive near term one - they will be raking in net profits from allowing other electric vehicles to charge on their network. This means that they'll likely be profiting from each vehicle their competitors churn out, at least until the scaling up of non-Tesla charging stations takes place.</p>\n<p>5. \"Other Business\" growth rate: While other automobile companies are still spending hand over fist on their other models and products, Tesla enjoys being only in high-growth industries like SolarCity's solar panels and battery sales. As I'll expand on in the next segment, they also don't have near-term or long-term financial obligations from these \"other business\" segments as establishment automobile companies have.</p>\n<p>Balance Sheet Advantages</p>\n<p>Although some elements of their balance sheet advantage are set to help them in the long run as well, they're mostly advantages for the short term since once these other companies begin making a profit from their EV sales - a lot of this will be reversed.</p>\n<p>Tesla's main advantage, as mentioned earlier, is that they're actually raking in cash from each car they sell, allowing them to use that cash to continue and set up more manufacturing facilities and invest in battery technology, solar technology and production increases. This is contrary to other automobile companies which have high financial obligations to their other business segments like pensions and leases. This will further aid the company's overall profit margin, while they don't struggle with such obligations.</p>\n<p>These other companies will need to use profits and cash from their existing legacy business segments to pay for their losses on each vehicle they produce, hurting their overall valuation moving forward.</p>\n<p>Although Tesla has $6.9 billion inlong-term debt, a factor which kept many investors on the sidelines as debt racked up, they currently hold just under $16.3 billion in cash and equivalents, making their net debt position negative. They've been using the cash to pay down their debt as well, reducing their interest expense burdenfrom almost $800 million in 2020 to just over $500 million in 2021. Tesla paid back $15 billion in debt in 2021 for a net debt reduction of $6 billion. There's very little doubt that other automobile companies will be forced to take on more debt to finance increased production and in this raising rate environment, that can snowball.</p>\n<p>Tesla is set to seecash flowof around $10 billion annually whereas a company like Ford has been fluctuating between a net positive and negative cash flow status for the past few years, and that's not expected to change through 2025 as they continue to increase investments in the electrification of their vehicles.</p>\n<p>What About Current Valuation</p>\n<p>Analystscurrently expect the company to report EPS of $5.38 for 2021 and grow at a fast pace to reach EPS of $10.33 for 2024. As I mentioned in my earlier article, I believe that, given comparison with other major automobile companies, the company is fairly valued at around 75x forward earnings.</p>\n<p>I do, however, believe that some of the current competition expectations are overblown for the near term, as I've been mentioning throughout the entire article. Therefore, I do believe that Tesla will outperform current expectations at least through 2023. This means that a 75x forward earnings multiple is the ground base for appropriate valuation, I believe.</p>\n<p>This presents the following fair value, with the implied increase potential:</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/052968e079d7fe8419e4790de451c9fd\" tg-width=\"620\" tg-height=\"201\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\">As you can see, this means that Tesla is almost 40% overvalued relative to earnings expectations, even if they overcome them by as much as 20%. However, given that these expectations are likely to be beaten, I don't believe that shorting the company is a good idea, but one thing that is worth looking out for is a general market correction.</p>\n<p>The Biggest Risk Of Owning Tesla</p>\n<p>The biggest risk with owning Tesla right now is that, in a general market correction, which can happen at any moment as the post-pandemic trade is winding down, companies with lofty expectations tend to fall the most as fair value is sought beyond what their potential is way down the line.</p>\n<p>I don't believe that shorting Tesla is the right approach, even though my disclosures down below and in previous article state that I am, given general market exposure. I am short simply because I don't believe that much upwards potential is there, whilst downward potential in a market correction is vast. So, given that I am mostly long, this short is a general portfolio hedge while I reduce positions in case of a correction.</p>\n<p>In Conclusion</p>\n<p>Tesla has several positive catalysts which should keep them on top of the EV industry growth roster for the next 24 to 36 months, while other companies struggle to make even a single penny on their new vehicles. These are set, I believe, to allow them to beat earnings expectations for that time period.</p>\n<p>Even so, their long-term competitive pressures remain high and as I stated in my previous article - their long-term growth prospects will continue to dim as time moves on.</p>\n<p>Even with these positive near-term advantages, I still believe that the company is overvalued by as much as 40%, and although I do not favor shorting the company for this overvaluation, I remain slightly bearish on their long-term prospects and neutral to slightly bullish on their near-term one.</p>","source":"seekingalpha","collect":0,"html":"<!DOCTYPE html>\n<html>\n<head>\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Sales from regulatory credits—a source of revenue seen as less sustainable than sales of vehicles—-fell, but operating profits rose to record highs because of strong profitability in the automotive division.</p>\n<p>Tesla generates the credits by making more than its fair share of zero- emission cars and sells them to manufacturers that still rely on internal-combustion engines. Sales from regulatory credits—a source of revenue seen as less sustainable than sales of vehicles—-fell, but operating profits rose to record highs because of strong profitability in the automotive division.\nTesla generates the credits by making more than its fair share of zero- emission cars and sells them to manufacturers that still rely on internal-combustion engines. Pessimists on the stock believe that source of income will dwindle over time.\nThe stock, however, was down 1.5% in early trading Tuesday. The S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average, for comparison, had fallen 0.6% and 0.4%, respectively.\nIt is a muted reaction to a good quarter, typical of the way stocks of mature businesses behave. Tesla stock moved more than 10% in response to three of the four 2019 quarterly reports. But it rose or fell an average of about 2.5% in response to the 2020 earnings reports.\nThe typical 2020 move was a fall in the price in response to news of better-than-expected results. The same thing happened after the release of results for the first quarter of 2021.\nThat is another sign of maturity. A small drop in response to better-than-expected results is the typical outcome for stocks. Investors always expect companies to exceed analyst projections, and when they get that result, they “sell the news.”\nThe reaction among Wall Street analysts to the latest results is yet another sign of maturity. That is more evidence that Tesla is here to stay as the world’s most valuable car company.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":121,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":176660373,"gmtCreate":1626880337892,"gmtModify":1633770125844,"author":{"id":"4088600990257790","authorId":"4088600990257790","name":"JayTee","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/bc8786d7e8ad3cb48facd135a63ef433","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4088600990257790","idStr":"4088600990257790"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Great article, sharing is caring ","listText":"Great article, sharing is caring ","text":"Great article, sharing is caring","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/176660373","repostId":"1109369259","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1109369259","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1626876045,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1109369259?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-07-21 22:00","market":"us","language":"en","title":"'Buy The Dip' Investors Pile Into These 6 Stocks For Fast Gains","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1109369259","media":"investors","summary":"S&P 500 investors are bravely buying dipsfollowing sell-offs like never before.
