Pinterest, some Fool.com contributors had a discussion about other possible mergers they would like to see. Taylor Carmichael nominated Doximity (NYSE:DOCS) and OptimizeRx (NASDAQ:OPRX) as two companies that would mesh well together in the telehealth space.
\n
This episode of \"The 5\" was recorded on Oct. 21.
\n
Taylor Carmichael: I like the telehealth space, I'm a huge fan of telehealth in general. I think there's going to be a big transition for our society because the internet is faster, quicker, cheaper. I think more and more healthcare is going to shift online and more of this is transforming healthcare. The internet's been around for 20 years, 25 years, but it's still making these changes.
\n
Two companies I really love in the telehealth space, one of them is Doximity, just came public this year. DOCS is their ticker. Doximity is basically the Facebook of healthcare, the LinkedIn of healthcare. Eighty percent of doctors are on the Doximity platform, 90% of med students are on the Doximity platform. It is a huge networking site for healthcare, for doctors, and they've got three businesses that they run from their website. One is the LinkedIn for people in healthcare looking for jobs, that networking thing. You don't go to Facebook and you don't go to LinkedIn, you go to Doximity because that's where they all are. The other one they do is they do telehealth, so they compete with Teladoc and they actually did a lot more telehealth visits than (Teladoc) over the last year. That's actually why I got into the stock because I was just blown away.
\n
They rolled out Dialer, it's called Dialer. They rolled it out at the beginning of the COVID pandemic. The doctors on their platform just love Dialer because it allowed them to do telehealth through that network with their actual patients. It protected them, protected their privacy so the patients couldn't call them in the middle of the night or anything. That was the other one. Then of course, the third business is having that Facebook-type business where pharmaceutical companies and other people can reach doctors and other healthcare professionals. The advertising business, monetizing all those medical eyeballs. That's a big part of Doximity's plan.
\n
OptimizeRX is another much smaller company in the telehealth space, which I own both of these to give you just a warning, I guess, about my own bias. But I love both of these stocks. Optimize is a lot smaller, but they're focused in a different area that Doximity is not. OptimizeRX is focused on electronic health records. Electronic health records are those things your doctor's looking at when he's looking at his iPad. All your health records are going to be online pretty much, but there is no Microsoft in this area. There are like 500 or 600 software providers or a thousand. There's just a ton of little ones. OptimizeRX is putting together an entire network. They put it together. I think it's like 60% or 70% of doctors is their reach in that electronic health network. The idea is maybe to give a little link to a Harvard study when the doctor is looking at his notes about this new drugs so that the pharmaceutical companies can reach a doctor in the course of this workflow without interrupting his workflow and bring new -- because doctors always have to get update on new things, new studies, new drugs, new stuff. Optimize is a specialist at that. And I thought, wow, these two companies would really fit into the Doximity wheelhouse because it's all about connection, and healthcare connection, and reaching doctors. That would be my suggestion.
\n
But I agree with you, I don't know if anybody listens to me, [laughs] but both stocks have done actually really well. In fact, OptimizeRx has done better. I think it's about doubled this year. They're still small, I think it's a billion (market cap). It's a tiny company. Doximity is a lot bigger, but they might be a good combo.
\n
Jason Hall: It's interesting because it's one of those spaces that there are just dozens and dozens of companies that do these things. The potential for consolidation is enormous in that whole space. That's an interesting mix there, interesting potential mini-powerhouse, Taylor.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
These 2 Telehealth Companies Should Unite
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nThese 2 Telehealth Companies Should Unite\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-10-30 15:54 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Last week, while rumors were flying about PayPal Holdings maybe acquiring Pinterest, some Fool.com contributors had a discussion about other possible mergers they would like to see. Taylor Carmichael nominated Doximity (NYSE:DOCS) and OptimizeRx (NASDAQ:OPRX) as two companies that would mesh well together in the telehealth space.\nThis episode of \"The 5\" was recorded on Oct. 21.\nTaylor Carmichael: I like the telehealth space, I'm a huge fan of telehealth in general. I think there's going to be a big transition for our society because the internet is faster, quicker, cheaper. I think more and more healthcare is going to shift online and more of this is transforming healthcare. The internet's been around for 20 years, 25 years, but it's still making these changes.\nTwo companies I really love in the telehealth space, one of them is Doximity, just came public this year. DOCS is their ticker. Doximity is basically the Facebook of healthcare, the LinkedIn of healthcare. Eighty percent of doctors are on the Doximity platform, 90% of med students are on the Doximity platform.
That's actually why I got into the stock because I was just blown away.\nThey rolled out Dialer, it's called Dialer. That's a big part of Doximity's plan.\nOptimizeRX is another much smaller company in the telehealth space, which I own both of these to give you just a warning, I guess, about my own bias. That would be my suggestion.\nBut I agree with you, I don't know if anybody listens to me, [laughs] but both stocks have done actually really well. In fact, OptimizeRx has done better. I think it's about doubled this year. They're still small, I think it's a billion (market cap). It's a tiny company. Doximity is a lot bigger, but they might be a good combo.\nJason Hall: It's interesting because it's one of those spaces that there are just dozens and dozens of companies that do these things. The potential for consolidation is enormous in that whole space. That's an interesting mix there, interesting potential mini-powerhouse, Taylor.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":335,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":859784356,"gmtCreate":1634735953735,"gmtModify":1634736225956,"author":{"id":"3573653602271971","authorId":"3573653602271971","name":"Champion365","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/04df800589718231e24e96f7a0b551cc","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Camber Energy(CEI)$hooray hooray finally u woke up….go go go","listText":"$Camber Energy(CEI)$hooray hooray finally u woke up….go go go","text":"$Camber Energy(CEI)$hooray hooray finally u woke up….go go go","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/859784356","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":444,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":107131433,"gmtCreate":1620450354222,"gmtModify":1634198638029,"author":{"id":"3573653602271971","authorId":"3573653602271971","name":"Champion365","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/04df800589718231e24e96f7a0b551cc","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Bravo[微笑] ","listText":"Bravo[微笑] ","text":"Bravo[微笑]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/107131433","repostId":"1105395775","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1105395775","pubTimestamp":1620441010,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1105395775?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-05-08 10:30","market":"us","language":"en","title":"5 Goldman Sachs Conviction List Growth Stocks to Buy Also Pay Big Dividends","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1105395775","media":"24/7 wall street","summary":"As the aging bull market presses ahead, it is pretty easy to see there has been a big rotation out o","content":"
As the aging bull market presses ahead, it is pretty easy to see there has been a big rotation out of growth and momentum stocks and into value and cyclical ones. Given the massive move since the market lows of March 2020, many investors sense that it is time to move to stocks that still have growth potential going forward but also pay a solid dividend. Despite some hand wringing over higher interest rates, they remain near generational lows across the board.

We decided to screen the Goldman Sachs Americas Conviction List, which is a collection of the top equity ideas at the firm, looking for stocks that paid a solid and dependable dividend that was higher than the S&P 500 yield of 1.45% and the 30-year U.S. Treasury bond of 2.23%.

We found five that look like outstanding total return ideas now, and all are positioned well for the rest of 2021 and beyond. It is important to remember that no single analyst report should be used as a sole basis for any buying or selling decision.

Bristol Myers Squibb

This remains a solid pharmaceutical stock to own long term and offers among the best values now for investors. Bristol Myers Squibb Co. (NYSE: BMY) is a global pharmaceutical company focused on discovering, developing, licensing and marketing chemically synthesized drugs or small molecules and biologics in various therapeutic areas, including virology comprising human immunodeficiency virus infection (HIV), oncology, neuroscience, immunoscience and cardiovascular.

The company’s products include the following:

Opdivo for anti-cancer indications

Eliquis, an oral inhibitor targeted at stroke prevention in adult patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation, and the prevention and treatment of venous thromboembolic disorders

Orencia for adult patients with active RA and prostate-specific antigen, as well as reducing signs and symptoms in pediatric patients with active polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis.

Shareholders receive a 3.04% dividend. Goldman Sachs has a massive $90 price target on the shares, while the Wall Street consensus target is $75.13. Bristol Myers Squibb stock closed trading on Thursday at $64.46 per share.

Marathon Petroleum

This is a solid way for investors who are more conservative to play the energy sector, which may still have some serious upside potential. Marathon Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: MPC) is one of the largest independent petroleum refining and marketing companies in the United States.

Until just recently, Marathon Petroleum operated approximately 2,750 retail sites under the Marathon and Speedway brands. In addition, it operates a logistics network of pipelines, barges, trucks and terminals that store and transport crude and products.

Last year, the company announced it would sell Speedway to 7-11 in an all-cash deal valued at $21 billion, or $16.5 billion after-tax. The sale transforms the company’s balance sheet and creates options to revisit the corporate structure of MPLX. Many on Wall Street feel that with Speedway removed, the dislocation in refining value becomes even more transparent as the company trades much cheaper than its industry peers do. The deal now is expected to close in this quarter.

Investors in Marathon Petroleum stock receive a 3.90% dividend. The Goldman Sachs price target is $66. The consensus target is just $46.27, but the shares closed most recently at $59.46 apiece.

PepsiCo

This top consumer staples stock fits the bill for worried investors. PepsiCo Inc. (NYSE: PEP) operates as a food and beverage company worldwide. Its Frito-Lay North America segment offers Lay’s and Ruffles potato chips; Doritos, Tostitos and Santitas tortilla chips; and Cheetos cheese-flavored snacks, branded dips and Fritos corn chips.

The Quaker Foods North America segment provides Quaker oatmeal, grits, rice cakes, natural granola and oat squares, as well as the recently renamed Aunt Jemima mixes and syrups, and Quaker Chewy granola bars, Cap’n Crunch cereal, Life cereal and Rice-A-Roni side dishes.

Pepsi’s North America Beverages segment offers beverage concentrates, fountain syrups and finished goods under the Pepsi, Gatorade, Mountain Dew, Diet Pepsi, Aquafina, Tropicana Pure Premium, Sierra Mist and Mug brands, as well as ready-to-drink tea and coffee, and juices.

Shareholders receive a 2.95% dividend. The $160 Goldman Sachs price target is above the $152.09 consensus target. PepsiCo stock closed at $145.55 a share on Thursday.

Realty Income

This is an ideal midcap stock for growth and income investors looking for a safer idea for the rest of 2021. Realty Income Corp. (NYSE: O) is an S&P 500 company dedicated to providing stockholders with dependable monthly income. The company is structured as a real estate investment trust (REIT), and its monthly dividends are supported by the cash flow from over 6,500 real estate properties owned under long-term lease agreements with commercial tenants.

To date, the company has declared 604 consecutive common stock monthly dividends throughout its 51-year operating history and increased the dividend 108 times since its public listing in 1994, and it is a member of the S&P 500 Dividend Aristocrats index.

Investors receive a 4.17% distribution. Goldman Sachs has set its target price on Realty Income stock at $84. That compares with the much lower $69.53 consensus figure and the $67.55 close on Thursday.

Verizon Communications

Shares of this top telecommunications company offer tremendous value at current levels. Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE: VZ) is one of the largest U.S. telecom companies. It provides wireless and wireline service to retail, enterprise and wholesale customers.

The company’s wireless network serves approximately 120 million mobile connections with 115 million postpaid subscribers. Verizon’s wireline business has undergone a period of secular decline due to wireless substitution and cable competition.

Verizon acquired AOL and Yahoo to create the Oath digital content platform, which the company recently sold at a sizable loss to Apollo Global Management for $5 billion The sale allows Verizon to offload properties from the former internet empires, though it will keep a 10% stake in the company and it will be rebranded to just Yahoo.

Verizon also provides converged communications, information and entertainment services over America’s most advanced fiber-optic network, and it delivers integrated business solutions to customers worldwide.

Investors receive an outstanding 4.23% dividend. The Goldman Sachs price objective is $64. The posted consensus price target for Verizon Communications stock is $60.94. The shares ended Thursday’s trading session changing hands at $59.29 apiece.

The bottom line is that, by any measure, the stock market is overbought, expensive and long due for a breather. That probably means more than a one- or two-day 3% decline. With that noted, there are very few alternatives for those that need some growth and, most importantly, consistent and dependable income. These five stock all supply both and make sense for growth and income investors.
","source":"lsy1620372341666","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
5 Goldman Sachs Conviction List Growth Stocks to Buy Also Pay Big Dividends
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n5 Goldman Sachs Conviction List Growth Stocks to Buy Also Pay Big Dividends\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-05-08 10:30 GMT+8 24/7 wall street\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
As the aging bull market presses ahead, it is pretty easy to see there has been a big rotation out of growth and momentum stocks and into value and cyclical ones. It provides wireless and wireline service to retail, enterprise and wholesale customers. The company’s wireless network serves approximately 120 million mobile connections with 115 million postpaid subscribers. Verizon’s wireline business has undergone a period of secular decline due to wireless substitution and cable competition.Verizon acquired AOL and Yahoo to create the Oath digital content platform, which the company recently sold at a sizable loss to Apollo Global Management for $5 billion The sale allows Verizon to offload properties from the former internet empires, though it will keep a 10% stake in the company and it will be rebranded to just Yahoo.Verizon also provides converged communications, information and entertainment services over America’s most advanced fiber-optic network, and it delivers integrated business solutions to customers worldwide.Investors receive an outstanding 4.23% dividend. These five stock all supply both and make sense for growth and income investors.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":90,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":109216219,"gmtCreate":1619699445231,"gmtModify":1634210637218,"author":{"id":"3573653602271971","authorId":"3573653602271971","name":"Champion365","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/04df800589718231e24e96f7a0b551cc","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Bravo[开心] ","listText":"Bravo[开心] ","text":"Bravo[开心]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/109216219","repostId":"1153401332","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1153401332","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1619698148,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1153401332?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-04-29 20:09","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Toplines Before US Market Open on Thursday","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1153401332","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"US stock futures all rose, Dow Jones futures rose 0.39%, Nasdaq 100 futures rose 1.04%, and S&P 500 ","content":"
US stock futures all rose, Dow Jones futures rose 0.39%, Nasdaq 100 futures rose 1.04%, and S&P 500 futures rose 0.68%.As investors considered a batch of stronger-than-expected earnings results from major companies and a sweeping set of proposals from President Joe Biden aimed at revamping the country's infrastructure and supporting families, children and students.
\n
*Source From Tiger Trade, EST 08:10
\n
TheFederal Reserveupgraded its view of the economy and held its line that any near-term inflation rises will be temporary, while keeping rates near zero and asset purchases steady as it concluded its latest meeting on Wednesday.
\n
Additionally, U.S. PresidentJoe Bidenused his first joint address to Congress to outline his new $1.8 trillion plan aimed toward children and families while proposing raised taxes on corporations and rich Americans.
\n
Turning to economic data, in addition to the weekly data onjobless claims, Thursday brings us the first quarterGDPnumber, at 8:30 AM ET (1330 GMT), which is expected to show growth of 6.1% on a yearly basis after growing 4.3% in the fourth quarter of 2020, fueled by unprecedented monetary policy support and fiscal stimulus.
\n
Take a look at some of the biggest movers in the premarket:
\n
Facebook(FB) – Facebook exceeded analysts’ forecasts by $1.03 a share, with quarterly profit of $3.30 per share. The key risks surround rate-hike bets, with the potential that aggressive moves in that market could set off fresh turmoil in bonds.
\n
Powell announced a start to a reduction in bond purchases Wednesday but said officials can be patient on raising interest rates. U.S. stocks closed at records, Treasuries retreated and the yield curve saw a modest steepening -- reversing some of its recent flattening trend.
\n
Here’s a selection of comments on the outlook for markets:
\n
Yields, Dollar to Edge Higher
\n
Wells Fargo strategists, including Mike Schumacher:
\n
\n “The key takeaway to us is the Fed has introduced the possibility of accelerating, or conceivably slowing, tapering. The flexibility on tapering puts more onus on economic data, specifically inflation and employment data, to spur dollar gains on expectations of sooner/faster rate hikes. This raises the stakes for this Friday’s and subsequent U.S. employment reports.\n
\n
\n “Reduced asset purchases should push yields gradually higher. We maintain our year-end target of 1.75-1.80% for the 10-year Treasury yield. The market is still priced too aggressively when it comes to future rate hikes.”\n
\n
TD Securities strategists including Jim O’Sullivan:
\n
\n “Yields and the curve should remain caught between auction size cuts, QE tapering, a likely fiscal package in coming weeks, and the market’s repricing of the front-end. This should keep volatility elevated, but with some upward pressure on rates as investors price in the flow effect of tapering and the start of the hiking cycle.”\n
\n
\n “While tapering should steepen the curve amid heavy net duration supply, any further pulling forward of the hiking cycle should flatten the curve. Given the market’s already aggressive pricing of the first hike in July 2022 and more than two hikes in 2022, we remain long the front end.”\n
\n
Chris Zaccarelli, Chief Investment Officer for Independent Advisor Alliance:
\n
\n “Given the uncertainty of the inflation and interest rate paths for the next 12 months, we believe it is prudent to keep duration neutral or even slightly underweight.”\n
\n
\n “It is also prudent to maintain equity exposure, but to continue to reallocate our portfolios to companies with stronger balance sheets and to those with stronger pricing power and away from those companies that are more speculative in nature.”\n
\n

\n
Rate Hikes and Inflation
\n
Elliot Clarke, senior economist at Westpac:
\n
\n “Not only do today’s post-meeting communications therefore warrant us holding onto our forecast of a first hike in December 2022, but they also justify believing the rate hike cycle that follows will be modest versus history. Throughout the period, the chief risk to this benign view on policy will be wage gains. If supply proves insufficient for demand, then wages growth could be bid up to a level that not only offsets current inflation pressures, but also allows for additional discretionary consumption.”\n
\n
Steven Englander, global head of G-10 FX research at Standard Chartered Bank:
\n
\n “We think future market reaction will be heavily geared on an incoming data that advance policy rate hikes. These data could include strong employment data that imply a quick approach to full employment or continued high inflation numbers that will suggest Powell’s optimism will overdone. There is a good chance that both will be the case in Q4, so see a risk that today’s benign interpretation is transitory.”\n
\n
Paul Ashworth of Capital Economics:
\n
\n “With wage growth at its strongest since the early 1980s, inflation expectations rising and signs of a breakout in cyclical price inflation, particularly rents, the FOMC’s insistence that this is still just a temporary shock ‘related to the pandemic and the reopening of the economy’ looks to be dangerously behind the curve. But it could be some considerable time before the Fed is willing to admit that elevated inflation is likely to be more persistent”\n
\n

\n
Cautiously Risk On
\n
Justin Tang, head of Asian research at United First Partners:
\n
\n “No one will be cracking open champagne bottles, but I think investors will allow themselves a drink or two. It will be a case of a rising tide lifts all boats but stocks that have been strongly correlated to the inflation theme like techs will be bought.”\n
\n
Ilya Spivak, head of Greater Asia at DailyFX:
\n
\n “The response from risk sentiment should be fairly mild because I think the Fed delivered as markets were anticipating overall-- But again, with a slight risk-on bias. The plunge in gold I think it was particularly eye-catching, as well as the selloff in oil. Gold was interesting because it started falling and had the bulk of it ahead of the Fed”\n
\n
Banny Lam, head of research at CEB International Inv Corp.:
\n
\n “Asian equities should point to upside today. The Fed seems to create market expectations that the decoupling of asset purchases reduction and rate hike remain intact. Widening negative real interest rate also provide continued support to Asian equities.”\n
\n
Kerry Craig, global market strategist at JPMorgan Asset Management
\n
\n “This is still a very accommodative policy environment and one that will support the growth outlook in the quarters ahead and the performance of risk assets like equities and credit. For equity markets, the focus should be on where earnings growth will be highest to offset the valuation drag on returns. The key risks surround rate-hike bets, with the potential that aggressive moves in that market could set off fresh turmoil in bonds.\nPowell announced a start to a reduction in bond purchases Wednesday but said officials can be patient on raising interest rates. U.S. stocks closed at records, Treasuries retreated and the yield curve saw a modest steepening -- reversing some of its recent flattening trend.\nHere’s a selection of comments on the outlook for markets:\nYields, Dollar to Edge Higher\nWells Fargo strategists, including Mike Schumacher:\n\n “The key takeaway to us is the Fed has introduced the possibility of accelerating, or conceivably slowing, tapering. The flexibility on tapering puts more onus on economic data, specifically inflation and employment data, to spur dollar gains on expectations of sooner/faster rate hikes. This raises the stakes for this Friday’s and subsequent U.S. employment reports.\n\n\n “Reduced asset purchases should push yields gradually higher. We maintain our year-end target of 1.75-1.80% for the 10-year Treasury yield. The market is still priced too aggressively when it comes to future rate hikes.”\n\nTD Securities strategists including Jim O’Sullivan:\n\n “Yields and the curve should remain caught between auction size cuts, QE tapering, a likely fiscal package in coming weeks, and the market’s repricing of the front-end. This should keep volatility elevated, but with some upward pressure on rates as investors price in the flow effect of tapering and the start of the hiking cycle.”\n\n\n “While tapering should steepen the curve amid heavy net duration supply, any further pulling forward of the hiking cycle should flatten the curve. Given the market’s already aggressive pricing of the first hike in July 2022 and more than two hikes in 2022, we remain long the front end.”\n\nChris Zaccarelli, Chief Investment Officer for Independent Advisor Alliance:\n\n “Given the uncertainty of the inflation and interest rate paths for the next 12 months, we believe it is prudent to keep duration neutral or even slightly underweight.”\n\n\n “It is also prudent to maintain equity exposure, but to continue to reallocate our portfolios to companies with stronger balance sheets and to those with stronger pricing power and away from those companies that are more speculative in nature.”\n\n\nRate Hikes and Inflation\nElliot Clarke, senior economist at Westpac:\n\n “Not only do today’s post-meeting communications therefore warrant us holding onto our forecast of a first hike in December 2022, but they also justify believing the rate hike cycle that follows will be modest versus history. Throughout the period, the chief risk to this benign view on policy will be wage gains. If supply proves insufficient for demand, then wages growth could be bid up to a level that not only offsets current inflation pressures, but also allows for additional discretionary consumption.”\n\nSteven Englander, global head of G-10 FX research at Standard Chartered Bank:\n\n “We think future market reaction will be heavily geared on an incoming data that advance policy rate hikes. These data could include strong employment data that imply a quick approach to full employment or continued high inflation numbers that will suggest Powell’s optimism will overdone. There is a good chance that both will be the case in Q4, so see a risk that today’s benign interpretation is transitory.”\n\nPaul Ashworth of Capital Economics:\n\n “With wage growth at its strongest since the early 1980s, inflation expectations rising and signs of a breakout in cyclical price inflation, particularly rents, the FOMC’s insistence that this is still just a temporary shock ‘related to the pandemic and the reopening of the economy’ looks to be dangerously behind the curve. But it could be some considerable time before the Fed is willing to admit that elevated inflation is likely to be more persistent”\n\n\nCautiously Risk On\nJustin Tang, head of Asian research at United First Partners:\n\n “No one will be cracking open champagne bottles, but I think investors will allow themselves a drink or two. It will be a case of a rising tide lifts all boats but stocks that have been strongly correlated to the inflation theme like techs will be bought.”\n\nIlya Spivak, head of Greater Asia at DailyFX:\n\n “The response from risk sentiment should be fairly mild because I think the Fed delivered as markets were anticipating overall-- But again, with a slight risk-on bias. The plunge in gold I think it was particularly eye-catching, as well as the selloff in oil. Gold was interesting because it started falling and had the bulk of it ahead of the Fed”\n\nBanny Lam, head of research at CEB International Inv Corp.:\n\n “Asian equities should point to upside today. The Fed seems to create market expectations that the decoupling of asset purchases reduction and rate hike remain intact. Widening negative real interest rate also provide continued support to Asian equities.”\n\nKerry Craig, global market strategist at JPMorgan Asset Management\n\n “This is still a very accommodative policy environment and one that will support the growth outlook in the quarters ahead and the performance of risk assets like equities and credit. For equity markets, the focus should be on where earnings growth will be highest to offset the valuation drag on returns. So far this has meant focus on the more cyclical developed markets of Europe and Japan, but we expect the catch up in emerging Asia with its relatively better valuations creating more interest for investors in the year ahead.”\n\nSupportive for Credit\nMark Reade, head of fixed-income desk research Mizuho Securities Asia\n\n “After a period of front-end rate volatility, this week’s dovish central bank rhetoric has helped to settle nerves and re-steepen curves. Together with strong corporate earnings and decent global data, that provides a supportive backdrop for further credit spread compression.”\n\n\n “If inflation shows no signs of peaking, subsiding, then we could easily see a return of front-end volatility.
