Some megacap stocks trade at substantially higher multiples relative to their free cash flow (FCF) than Apple does. If Apple can close the gap and command a similar premium, multiple expansion alone could help the stock rise substantially.

Consider that Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) trades at 42 times its free cash flow. Apple, meanwhile, trades at only 31 times its FCF. Apple's stock price would have to rise 35% for its FCF valuation multiple to match Microsoft's. This alone would put the company's market capitalization at about $4 trillion.

There is actually a good case for Apple stock's valuation to see multiple expansion in the coming years: The tech giant's services business, which is a more reliable revenue source than its products, is growing as a percentage of Apple's total business. With a more predictable and reliable revenue source (that appears to still have lots of upside) increasingly driving Apple's growth, investors may start rewarding the stock with higher valuation multiples. In fiscal 2021, Apple's services revenue was 19% of revenue, up from less than 18% of revenue two years ago and 15% three years ago.

But even without this much multiple expansion, strong fundamentals could lift Apple shares meaningfully in 2022 and beyond. Consider that the company is seeing strong double-digit revenue growth recently, with record fiscal fourth-quarter revenue across every geographic and product segment. Specifically, Apple's fiscal fourth-quarter revenue came in at $83.4 billion, up from $64.7 billion in the year-ago quarter. But management estimates that revenue for the period would have been $6 billion higher if it weren't for supply constraints during the period.

Suffice to say, Apple's business is firing on all cylinders. With momentum in every geographic and product segment, it wouldn't be surprising to see double-digit growth rates in the company's revenue and free cash flow in fiscal 2022, providing solid substance for more share gains.

Expect a bumpy ride

While it is possible that Apple's market capitalization swells to $4 trillion before the end of 2022, there are no guarantees in investing. Even if everything goes well for Apple as a business, the stock itself could do poorly in the near term. Sometimes, for one reason or another, stocks fall in and out of favor. So even though shares appear undervalued today, the stock could fall before it rises.

And there's always a chance that Apple sees multiple compression instead of multiple expansion. While Apple's business fundamentals appear worthy of a Microsoft-like premium, the company's shares have usually traded at a discount to Microsoft's in terms of valuation multiples because Microsoft's business model is considered to be more sustainable and less dependent on blockbuster product hits like new iPhones. Apple notably also makes more than half of its sales from a single product: the iPhone. Its heavy reliance on a single product segment generally makes Wall Street view the stock as risker than Microsoft, which has a business primarily made up of recurring revenue from various software and services sources.

But given Apple's long history of pricing power, loyal customers, and an ability to bring to market products in entirely new categories every now and then, the tech company will likely keep succeeding -- and its market cap could march toward $4 trillion.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Could Apple's Market Cap Hit $4 Trillion in 2022?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nCould Apple's Market Cap Hit $4 Trillion in 2022?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-12-31 23:30 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Shares of technology giant Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) soared in 2021. Finance","summary":"Investors' focus this week will be on earnings results, with some of the most heavily weighted compa","content":"
Investors' focus this week will be on earnings results, with some of the most heavily weighted companies in the S&P 500 poised to deliver their quarterly reports.
\n

\n
Over the past couple of weeks, most of the companies that posted earnings results topped Wall Street's estimates, despite widespread concerns over the impact of supply chain challenges to corporate profits. These better-than-feared results helped power both the S&P 500 and Dow to fresh record highs in the past week.
\n
As of Friday, about 23% of S&P 500 companies had reported actual results for the third quarter. Of these, 84% topped Wall Street's expectations for earnings per share (EPS), according to data from FactSet. And the estimated earnings growth rate for the S&P 500 stood at 32.7%, based on actual results and expectations for companies still yet to report. If maintained through the end of third-quarter earnings season, that would mark the third-highest earnings growth rate posted for the index since 2010.
\n
Given the string of stronger-than-expected results posted so far, this week's docket of reports has a heightened bar to clear.
\n
And that's especially set to be the case for the Big Tech companies, including Facebook (FB), Apple (AAPL), Amazon (AMZN) and Alphabet (GOOGL). Most of these far outperformed the market last year, but have seen their stock gains cool so far in 2021 amid concerns over rising interest rates, chip shortages, and slowing growth after a surge in online media usage and demand for software during the height of the pandemic.
\n
Despite the near-term challenges, however, some strategists have struck an upbeat tone on the technology sector as a whole.
\n
\"While the chip shortage will be a major conversation piece for tech investors during tech earnings season and clearly be an overhang, we believe the Street will instead look through any near-term disruption and focus on the underlying healthy demand drivers into 2022 which look robust,\" said Wedbush analyst Dan Ives in a note last week.
\n
A number of the closely watched technology companies that reported last week posted results that disappointed investors or highlighted the lingering impact of these myriad concerns. Snap (SNAP), the parent company of the disappearing photo-sharing platform app Snapchat, offered a current-quarter forecast that fell short of expectations, with supply chain challenges for its advertiser customer base and privacy-related changes to Apple's iOS operating system weighing on sales and profits.
\n
The weak guidance sent Snap's stock down by 27% on Friday for its biggest single-day drop on record, and dragged down shares of other ad-driven companies including Facebook, Pinterest (PINS), Twitter (TWTR) and Alphabet.
\n
In July, Facebook had already flagged an early impact from Apple's iOS privacy update, which allows users to better control how apps track them. Facebook Chief Financial Officer Dave Wehner said during the company's second-quarter earnings call that the company expected \"increased ad targeting headwinds in 2021 from regulatory and platform changes, notably the recent iOS updates\" and expected these \"to have a more significant impact in the third quarter compared to the second.\"
\n
Still, the social media juggernaut's top-line growth is expected to climb by another 37% in the third quarter of last year to reach a fresh quarterly record of $29.45 billion. Still, this pace of growth would mark a step down from the second quarter's 56% year-on-year growth rate.
\n
An illustration picture taken in London on December 18, 2020 shows the logos of Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon and Microsoft displayed on a mobile phone and a laptop screen. - (Photo by JUSTIN TALLIS / AFP) (Photo by JUSTIN TALLIS/AFP via Getty Images)JUSTIN TALLIS via Getty Images
\n
For peer ad-driven company Alphabet, a pickup in travel among consumers may help fuel the company's core Google Search business even in the face of other ad-industry headwinds. Both Snap and American Express (AXP) last week highlighted a pickup they were witnessing in consumer travel behavior and out-of-the-home spending in their third-quarter earnings releases and calls.
\n
\"Lost in the noise, SNAP also highlighted opportunity driven by travel budgets returning, which is a positive read through to GOOGL’s general search business,\" Daniel Salmon, BMO Capital Markets internet and media analyst, wrote in a note on Friday.
\n
Ongoing semiconductor shortages and supply-related issues also dealt a blow to other tech companies. Tesla (TSLA) said in its earnings report last week that, \"A variety of challenges, including semiconductor shortages, congestion at ports and rolling blackouts, have been impacting our ability to keep factories running at full speed.\"
\n
And reports earlier this month from Bloomberg suggested Apple was likely to cut its iPhone 13 production targets by as many as 10 million units amid chip shortages. The company, however, is still expected to post still-solid revenue growth of 21%, bringing sales to $84.67 billion as consumer demand for the latest smartphones remained resilient, especially in the U.S. and China.
\n
Rounding out this tech-heavy earnings week will be Amazon (AMZN), which posts quarterly results alongside Apple on Thursday after market close. The company has lagged the market since last reporting earnings in late July, falling 7.3% since July 29 versus a 2.9% gain in the S&P 500.
\n
Investors have been especially cautious on Amazon given widespread supply chain constraints, rising labor costs and fears that e-commerce sales and Amazon Web Services growth could slow after a pandemic-induced surge. Amazon shares had climbed by 76% in 2020, and the stock was the second-best FAANG performer after Apple that year.
\n
\"Concerns across top line, bottom line, and broader macro have collectively driven cautious sentiment into year-end,\" wrote JPMorgan analyst Doug Anmuth in a note last Thursday. \"However, we believe there is still significant secular shift toward e-commerce ahead and Amazon has a very strong track record around investing into future growth opportunities.\"
\n
\"Macro issues related to supply chain, port congestion, and inventory are well-documented and have intensified into the holiday season, driving concerns that delays could impact timing of AMZN receiving 1P/3P [first-party and third-party seller] inventory and certain items could remain out-of-stock,\" he added. \"Overall, we believe AMZN embedded some degree of disruption into the 3Q guide and we believe AMZN scaled inventory in anticipation of greater 2H demand.\"
\n
In late July, Amazon said it expected third-quarter net sales to total $106 billion to $112 billion, missing consensus expectations at the time. Wall Street analysts now expected to see Amazon post third-quarter sales of $111.8 billion, representing year-over-year growth of 16%, or its slowest since early 2015.
\n
Economic calendar
\n
\n

Monday: Chicago Fed National Activity Index, September (0.2 expected, 0.29 in August); Dallas Fed Manufacturing Activity Index, October (6.2 expected, 4.6 in September)

\n

Tuesday: FHFA House Price Index, month-over-month, August (1.5% expected, 1.4% in July); S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller 20-City Composite, month-over-month, August (1.44% expected, 1.55% in July); S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller 20-City Composite, year-over-year, August (20.00% expected, 19.95% in July); New Home Sales, month-over-month, September (756,000 expected, 740,000 in August); Conference Board Consumer Confidence, October (108.5 expected, 109.2 in September)

\n

Wednesday: MBA Mortgage Applications, week ended Oct. 22 (-6.3% during prior week); Advance Goods Trade Balance, September (-$88.3 billion expected, -$87.6 billion in August); Wholesale Inventories, month-over-month, September preliminary (1.0% expected, 1.2% in August); Durable Goods Orders, September preliminary (-1.0% expected, 1.8% in August); Durable Goods Orders, excluding transportation, September preliminary (0.4% expected, 0.3% in August); Non-defense Capital Goods Orders, excluding aircraft, September preliminary (0.4% expected, 0.6% in August); Non-defense Capital Goods Orders, excluding aircraft, September preliminary (0.4% expected, 0.8% in August)

\n

Thursday: Initial jobless claims, week ended Oct. 23 (292,000 expected, 290,000 during prior week); Continuing claims, week ended Oct. 16 (2.420 million expected, 2.481 million during prior week); GDP annualized, quarter-over-quarter, Q3 first estimate annualized (2.7% expected, 6.7% in Q2); Personal consumption, Q3 first estimate (0.7% expected, 12.0% in Q2); Core personal consumption expenditures, quarter-over-quarter, Q3 first estimate (4.4% expected, 6.1% in Q2); Pending home sales, September (0.6% expected, 8.1% in August); Kansas City Fed Manufacturing Activity Index, October (19 expected, 22 in September)

\n

Friday: Personal income, September (-0.2% expected, 0.2% in August); Personal spending, September (0.6% expected, 0.8% in August); Personal Consumption Expenditures Core Deflator, month-over-moth, September (0.2% expected, 0.3% in August); Personal Consumption Expenditures, Core Deflator, year-over-year, September (3.7% expected, 3.6% in August): MNI Chicago PMI, October (64.0 expected, 64.7 in September); University of Michigan Sentiment, October final (71.4 expected, 71.4 in September)

\n
\n
Earnings calendar
\n
\n

Monday: Kimberly-Clark Corp. These better-than-feared results helped power both the S&P 500 and Dow to fresh record highs in the past week.\nAs of Friday, about 23% of S&P 500 companies had reported actual results for the third quarter. Of these, 84% topped Wall Street's expectations for earnings per share (EPS), according to data from FactSet. And the estimated earnings growth rate for the S&P 500 stood at 32.7%, based on actual results and expectations for companies still yet to report. If maintained through the end of third-quarter earnings season, that would mark the third-highest earnings growth rate posted for the index since 2010.\nGiven the string of stronger-than-expected results posted so far, this week's docket of reports has a heightened bar to clear.\nAnd that's especially set to be the case for the Big Tech companies, including Facebook (FB), Apple (AAPL), Amazon (AMZN) and Alphabet (GOOGL). Most of these far outperformed the market last year, but have seen their stock gains cool so far in 2021 amid concerns over rising interest rates, chip shortages, and slowing growth after a surge in online media usage and demand for software during the height of the pandemic.\nDespite the near-term challenges, however, some strategists have struck an upbeat tone on the technology sector as a whole.\n\"While the chip shortage will be a major conversation piece for tech investors during tech earnings season and clearly be an overhang, we believe the Street will instead look through any near-term disruption and focus on the underlying healthy demand drivers into 2022 which look robust,\" said Wedbush analyst Dan Ives in a note last week.\nA number of the closely watched technology companies that reported last week posted results that disappointed investors or highlighted the lingering impact of these myriad concerns. Snap (SNAP), the parent company of the disappearing photo-sharing platform app Snapchat, offered a current-quarter forecast that fell short of expectations, with supply chain challenges for its advertiser customer base and privacy-related changes to Apple's iOS operating system weighing on sales and profits.\nThe weak guidance sent Snap's stock down by 27% on Friday for its biggest single-day drop on record, and dragged down shares of other ad-driven companies including Facebook, Pinterest (PINS), Twitter (TWTR) and Alphabet.\nIn July, Facebook had already flagged an early impact from Apple's iOS privacy update, which allows users to better control how apps track them. Facebook Chief Financial Officer Dave Wehner said during the company's second-quarter earnings call that the company expected \"increased ad targeting headwinds in 2021 from regulatory and platform changes, notably the recent iOS updates\" and expected these \"to have a more significant impact in the third quarter compared to the second.\"\nStill, the social media juggernaut's top-line growth is expected to climb by another 37% in the third quarter of last year to reach a fresh quarterly record of $29.45 billion. Still, this pace of growth would mark a step down from the second quarter's 56% year-on-year growth rate.\nAn illustration picture taken in London on December 18, 2020 shows the logos of Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon and Microsoft displayed on a mobile phone and a laptop screen. - (Photo by JUSTIN TALLIS / AFP) (Photo by JUSTIN TALLIS/AFP via Getty Images)JUSTIN TALLIS via Getty Images\nFor peer ad-driven company Alphabet, a pickup in travel among consumers may help fuel the company's core Google Search business even in the face of other ad-industry headwinds. Both Snap and American Express (AXP) last week highlighted a pickup they were witnessing in consumer travel behavior and out-of-the-home spending in their third-quarter earnings releases and calls.\n\"Lost in the noise, SNAP also highlighted opportunity driven by travel budgets returning, which is a positive read through to GOOGL’s general search business,\" Daniel Salmon, BMO Capital Markets internet and media analyst, wrote in a note on Friday.\nOngoing semiconductor shortages and supply-related issues also dealt a blow to other tech companies. Tesla (TSLA) said in its earnings report last week that, \"A variety of challenges, including semiconductor shortages, congestion at ports and rolling blackouts, have been impacting our ability to keep factories running at full speed.\"\nAnd reports earlier this month from Bloomberg suggested Apple was likely to cut its iPhone 13 production targets by as many as 10 million units amid chip shortages. The company, however, is still expected to post still-solid revenue growth of 21%, bringing sales to $84.67 billion as consumer demand for the latest smartphones remained resilient, especially in the U.S. and China.\nRounding out this tech-heavy earnings week will be Amazon (AMZN), which posts quarterly results alongside Apple on Thursday after market close. The company has lagged the market since last reporting earnings in late July, falling 7.3% since July 29 versus a 2.9% gain in the S&P 500.\nInvestors have been especially cautious on Amazon given widespread supply chain constraints, rising labor costs and fears that e-commerce sales and Amazon Web Services growth could slow after a pandemic-induced surge. Amazon shares had climbed by 76% in 2020, and the stock was the second-best FAANG performer after Apple that year.\n\"Concerns across top line, bottom line, and broader macro have collectively driven cautious sentiment into year-end,\" wrote JPMorgan analyst Doug Anmuth in a note last Thursday. \"However, we believe there is still significant secular shift toward e-commerce ahead and Amazon has a very strong track record around investing into future growth opportunities.\"\n\"Macro issues related to supply chain, port congestion, and inventory are well-documented and have intensified into the holiday season, driving concerns that delays could impact timing of AMZN receiving 1P/3P [first-party and third-party seller] inventory and certain items could remain out-of-stock,\" he added. \"Overall, we believe AMZN embedded some degree of disruption into the 3Q guide and we believe AMZN scaled inventory in anticipation of greater 2H demand.\"\nIn late July, Amazon said it expected third-quarter net sales to total $106 billion to $112 billion, missing consensus expectations at the time. Wall Street analysts now expected to see Amazon post third-quarter sales of $111.8 billion, representing year-over-year growth of 16%, or its slowest since early 2015.\nEconomic calendar\n\nMonday: Chicago Fed National Activity Index, September (0.2 expected, 0.29 in August); Dallas Fed Manufacturing Activity Index, October (6.2 expected, 4.6 in September)\nTuesday: FHFA House Price Index, month-over-month, August (1.5% expected, 1.4% in July); S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller 20-City Composite, month-over-month, August (1.44% expected, 1.55% in July); S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller 20-City Composite, year-over-year, August (20.00% expected, 19.95% in July); New Home Sales, month-over-month, September (756,000 expected, 740,000 in August); Conference Board Consumer Confidence, October (108.5 expected, 109.2 in September)\nWednesday: MBA Mortgage Applications, week ended Oct. 22 (-6.3% during prior week); Advance Goods Trade Balance, September (-$88.3 billion expected, -$87.6 billion in August); Wholesale Inventories, month-over-month, September preliminary (1.0% expected, 1.2% in August); Durable Goods Orders, September preliminary (-1.0% expected, 1.8% in August); Durable Goods Orders, excluding transportation, September preliminary (0.4% expected, 0.3% in August); Non-defense Capital Goods Orders, excluding aircraft, September preliminary (0.4% expected, 0.6% in August); Non-defense Capital Goods Orders, excluding aircraft, September preliminary (0.4% expected, 0.8% in August)\nThursday: Initial jobless claims, week ended Oct. 23 (292,000 expected, 290,000 during prior week); Continuing claims, week ended Oct. 16 (2.420 million expected, 2.481 million during prior week); GDP annualized, quarter-over-quarter, Q3 first estimate annualized (2.7% expected, 6.7% in Q2); Personal consumption, Q3 first estimate (0.7% expected, 12.0% in Q2); Core personal consumption expenditures, quarter-over-quarter, Q3 first estimate (4.4% expected, 6.1% in Q2); Pending home sales, September (0.6% expected, 8.1% in August); Kansas City Fed Manufacturing Activity Index, October (19 expected, 22 in September)\nFriday: Personal income, September (-0.2% expected, 0.2% in August); Personal spending, September (0.6% expected, 0.8% in August); Personal Consumption Expenditures Core Deflator, month-over-moth, September (0.2% expected, 0.3% in August); Personal Consumption Expenditures, Core Deflator, year-over-year, September (3.7% expected, 3.6% in August): MNI Chicago PMI, October (64.0 expected, 64.7 in September); University of Michigan Sentiment, October final (71.4 expected, 71.4 in September)\n\nEarnings calendar\n\nMonday: Kimberly-Clark Corp. Most investors are well aware of the FAANG stocks, which are the massive tech monsters that rule the market. In addition, one of the acronyms used to describe the constant rise in the stock markets, especially when the “buy the dip” crowd takes control after sizable selling, is FOMO, or fear of missing out.
\n
One of the very newest acronyms to hit the market speak lexicon is TINA. That stands for “there is no alternative,” which is an explanation for the constant ascent of the stock market. Basically what it means is that, due to very low yields on bonds and cash, especially with mounting inflation, owning stocks (especially those that pay solid and predictable dividends) is the only way to stay ahead of the game.
\n
If any one equity strategist across Wall Street has been right on the money over the past few years, it is Stifel’s head of Institutional Equity Strategy, Barry Bannister, and he is advising clients that we could be poised to have a TINA trap sell-off. We have covered his outstanding and prescient calls for years, and generally when he talks, we listen. Those who did so at the height of the sell-off in 2020 posted some massive gains.
\n
On March 19, 2020, just four short days before the final surge of selling and investor capitulation on March 23, Bannister and his team dropped a prediction for a relief rally that would carry the S&P 500 to the 2,750 level by April 30. On March 23, the index hit an intraday low of 2,191, and it closed at 2,237.
\n
We covered that incredibly bold prediction then, and while some were very skeptical of the call, Bannister made the prerequisite financial media rounds at the time giving his firm’s rationale for the prediction. In early April of 2020 as a surge of alarming news on the COVID-19 pandemic flooded the airwaves, Stifel came out and defended the call, telling clients to stand their ground. In the middle of April, as the rest of Wall Street was finally on board, Stifel raised the end-of-April target to 2,950. On April 30, in line with the laser-like call from Stifel, the S&P 500 closed at 2,912 after hitting an intraday high of 2,930 and after trading to 2,950 level the day before. In late May of 2020, Stifel once again raised the price target on the S&P 500 to 3,250 by August 30.
\n
Once again, Bannister sees storm clouds on the horizon, and with good reason. Everything from stocks to gold, Treasury debt and oil and have been pushed higher. This is a result of a unique combination of the FOMO worries and the TINA mentality. In a new research report, Bannister and his team feel that a lightning-fast 10% correction could occur in the remaining months of the fourth quarter. The report noted this:
\n
\n Near-term in the fourth quarter of 2021, we note that equal-weighted cyclicals vs. defensives are very near the point at which P/E-driven S&P 500 corrections occur, and we see downside equating to the S&P 500 falling from 4,535 currently to ~4,000 (prior view 3,800), around a 10% correction in the fourth quarter as we see mid-cycle risks.\n
\n
\n Our target and concerns are based on slowing global liquidity and tighter financial conditions with a gradual but unwavering Fed exit (especially after the Fed Chair is named). Sure, the Fed-inflated TINA trade “There is No Alternative” (to stocks) exists, but everyone goes into the boxing ring “with a plan” to buy-the-dip…until they get hit with a double-digit correction.\n
\n
\n Looking out to mid-2022 through 2025, we observe that value vs. growth tracks the S&P 500 divided by commodity index ratio, which soared in 2020 (favored growth stocks), fell in 2021 (favors value) and may bounce in mid-2022 (after the S&P 500 corrects) favoring growth, post-dip. We also show that despite the Quantitative Easing taper the S&P 500 could hit 5,200 by Jun-2022 (TINA’s last gasp?). Moreover, we see no actual bear market, which would be a 20% or more decline until fed funds is 1% (4 rate hikes), which fed funds futures indicate does not occur until 2024.\n
","source":"lsy1620372341666","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Top Wall Street Strategist Sees a Fast 10% Q4 Correction Coming
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nTop Wall Street Strategist Sees a Fast 10% Q4 Correction Coming\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-10-30 15:32 GMT+8 24/7 wall street\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
A plethora of acronyms are used in the financial world for a wide variety of items. That can have the effect of pushing up prices.\n“The tightest market is between now and Labor Day, so you have the big surge in vacation and travel demand against really no supply,” Currie said. “We estimate in the month of June, this market was in a 2.3 million barrel per day deficit,” he added.\nCurrie also addressed the impact rising oil prices for energy companies and their approach to capital spending to drill more. He said right now, it’s too early to tell whether expanding presence of the environmental, social and corporate governance, or ESG, movement is causing firms to be more cautious.\n“I like to say, ‘Show me a really good commodity company with great returns that’s not getting capital.’ They’re coming out of a really bad time period right now. Part of the reason there’s no capital going into the sector is that the returns have been miserable,” Currie said. “Just recently we’ve seen this pop in oil price. Investors don’t want to see a one or two month pop in oil prices. They want to see years of good returns.”\n“A lot of these investors are going, ‘Hey, we want our money back before you start to really drill,’ and as a result, the focuses of these C-suites is going to be on return on equity, not growth in large capex budgets,” he said.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":28,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":837070314,"gmtCreate":1629850257638,"gmtModify":1631883918912,"author":{"id":"3568342600533020","authorId":"3568342600533020","name":"MissHappy","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/593aee4fef5edc85bef45e9d290c4304","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3568342600533020","authorIdStr":"3568342600533020"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"<a An increasing need for EVcharging technologyis set to benefit a raft of global stocks, according to the bank, including semiconductor and Big Oil companies, as well as auto suppliers.\nBank of America analysts led by Harry Wyburd flagged a rapid rise in ownership of electric vehicles, with EVs on Europe’s roads up 100% since pre-Covid.\nIn a research note published last week, they wrote: “Our updated charger forecasts see c. [circa] $80bn of potential charging infrastructure investment by 2040E [estimate].”\nThe bank estimates there are currently around nine public charging points per 100 electric vehicles in Europe and expects the number to rise as more of the cars hit the road. BofA also expects “significant” growth in home charging points, with around 60 million electric connectors by 2030.\nBofA’s stock picks include:\nSemiconductors\n“We estimate that power semiconductor demand related to charger deployments in Europe can increase from low tens of millions of US dollars per annum to c$50m per annum by 2025 and c$100m per annum by 2030,” the analysts stated, pickingInfineonandSTMicroas beneficiaries of this.\nOil majors\nBig Oil can create “significant value” from “shifting their equity story to Big Energy,” with more of a focus on decarbonization, according to BofA. Its analysts noted the shift was becoming more urgent for these companies, given shareholder pressure and the Hague District Court’sdemands for Shellto meet climate targets set out in the Paris Agreement.\nThe analysts pickedBP,ShellandTotaland said: “We believe EV charging will grow in importance in linking Big Oil’s existing Marketing footprints (including global brand recognition and backing from their commodity trading desks) with Big Oils’ expansion into electricity supply.”\nAuto suppliers\nValeomakes parts for EVs of all sizes as well as a range of charging components for the likes ofVWand Mercedes. It is buy-rated by BofA, which noted that its joint venture withSiemensnow has around a 40% market share of the high voltage charging sector.\nMetals and mining\nCopper producerAntofagastaand minerBolidenare buy-rated picks for BofA, with copper likely to be a key part of EV chargers as well as inside the vehicle. “New technologies such as renewables, energy storage and electric vehicles that are gaining traction have one thing in common: they require a set of commodities we define as MIFTs, or metals important for future technologies,” BofA’s analysts wrote.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":336610924,"gmtCreate":1610081385968,"gmtModify":1703742551167,"author":{"id":"3568342600533020","authorId":"3568342600533020","name":"MissHappy","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/593aee4fef5edc85bef45e9d290c4304","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3568342600533020","authorIdStr":"3568342600533020"},"themes":[],"title":"Old but Relevant-Xiaomi's 5 Year Plan - $1.5M on Smart Homes","htmlText":"$XIAOMI-W(01810)$I am a fan of Xiaomi. 1st post.
