The ride inspired a 1997 made-for-television Disney film with Steve Guttenbergand the studio has trying to develop a theatrical feature since 2015.
\n
What Else Happened:Besides giving “Tower of Terror” the kibosh, the studio is also closing the door on any potential future projects with Johansson, whosued Disneyover breach of contract in connection with having her “Black Widow” salary linked to the film’s theatrical release. The studio gave the film a simultaneous theatrical and streaming release, which Johansson said violated her contract and ensured she would be receiving less money for her performance.
\n
Johansson’s only other 2021 film role will be a voice performance in the animated film “Sing 2” from Comcast Corporation’s Universal Pictures, which is scheduled for a December release. The ride inspired a 1997 made-for-television Disney film with Steve Guttenbergand the studio has trying to develop a theatrical feature since 2015.\nWhat Else Happened:Besides giving “Tower of Terror” the kibosh, the studio is also closing the door on any potential future projects with Johansson, whosued Disneyover breach of contract in connection with having her “Black Widow” salary linked to the film’s theatrical release. The studio gave the film a simultaneous theatrical and streaming release, which Johansson said violated her contract and ensured she would be receiving less money for her performance.\nJohansson’s only other 2021 film role will be a voice performance in the animated film “Sing 2” from Comcast Corporation’s Universal Pictures, which is scheduled for a December release. She is in pre-production as star and producer on the science-fiction drama “Bride,” which will be released by A24 and Apple Inc. .\nIn early 2020, Johansson and Chris Evans were cited in multiple entertainment media sources as being in talks to star in a remake of the musical “Little Shop of Horrors” for the AT&T subsidiary Warner Bros. However, Evans told an interviewer in March the project has been put on indefinite hold because the projected film budget became too large.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":306,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":896771816,"gmtCreate":1628607734135,"gmtModify":1631886516239,"author":{"id":"3566977358597597","authorId":"3566977358597597","name":"x2doubt","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3568222443c539be8d2a37f9e8cbc6b0","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3566977358597597","idStr":"3566977358597597"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Whatt","listText":"Whatt","text":"Whatt","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/896771816","repostId":"1136191508","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1136191508","pubTimestamp":1628604665,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1136191508?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-08-10 22:11","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Robinhood Agrees to Buy Say Technologies for $140 Million","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1136191508","media":"Bloomberg","summary":"(Bloomberg) -- Robinhood Markets Inc. agreed to buy Say Technologies, a tool for shareholder voting ","content":"
(Bloomberg) -- Robinhood Markets Inc. agreed to buy Say Technologies, a tool for shareholder voting and communication, in its first acquisition as a public company.
\n
The approximately $140 million all-cash deal will give Robinhood access to Say’s software, which helps company shareholders exercise their right to vote proxies and ask questions of management, according to a blog post Tuesday. Big drops can be scary.
\n
But dumping stocks on days when the Dow is getting whacked is usually the wrong thing to do. Stocks roared back Tuesday and were up again Wednesday.
\n
Yes, the Delta variant of Covid-19 has led to an alarming uptick in coronavirus cases in the United States and around the globe. But many experts think the massive number of vaccinations that have already taken place will prevent the economy and markets from going into another tailspin.
\n
If you're investing for the long haul, the best thing you can do is ride out this wave of volatility.
\n
\"Stay invested,\" said Seema Shah, chief strategist at Principal Global Investors. Shah told CNN Business that the Delta variant is highly unlikely to stop the economic recovery in the US and other parts of the developed world where vaccination rates are high.
\n
\"The vaccine is effective,\" she said. \"If cases are rising but hospitalization rates remain low, then the reopening measures from governments will continue.\"
\n
Still, Shah conceded, investors should be more selective. Big drops can be scary.\nBut dumping stocks on days when the Dow is getting whacked is usually the wrong thing to do. Stocks roared back Tuesday and were up again Wednesday.\nYes, the Delta variant of Covid-19 has led to an alarming uptick in coronavirus cases in the United States and around the globe. But many experts think the massive number of vaccinations that have already taken place will prevent the economy and markets from going into another tailspin.\nIf you're investing for the long haul, the best thing you can do is ride out this wave of volatility.\n\"Stay invested,\" said Seema Shah, chief strategist at Principal Global Investors. Shah told CNN Business that the Delta variant is highly unlikely to stop the economic recovery in the US and other parts of the developed world where vaccination rates are high.\n\"The vaccine is effective,\" she said. \"If cases are rising but hospitalization rates remain low, then the reopening measures from governments will continue.\"\nStill, Shah conceded, investors should be more selective. Don't make these mistakes when the next one hits.","content":"
The scary thing about stock market crashes is that they can happen when you least expect them to. And while stock market crashes are normal in that they actually occur somewhat frequently, they can be terrifying for investors who aren't used to them.
\n
But the decisions you make during a market crash will dictate whether you survive it unscathed, or whether you end up taking serious losses you don't recover from for years. With that in mind, here are three moves you might seriously regret during a stock market downturn.
\n
1. Selling when investment values plunge
\n
When you buy stocks, you lock in those investments at a certain price. That price can then rise or fall on an ongoing basis.
\n
If you don't sell your stocks while their value is up, you won't make money. Similarly, if you don't sell your stocks when their values declines, you won't suffer losses. It's the latter you really need to keep in mind during a stock market crash.
\n
When investment values start to fall, it can very tempting to cash out investments in an effort to minimize the blow. But the stock market has a long history of recovering from crashes, so if you leave your portfolio alone, you'll give your stock values a chance to come back up rather than guarantee yourself losses that could've been easily avoided.
\n
2. Pausing your retirement plan contributions
\n
The point of putting money into a 401(k) or IRA isn't to just let it sit there in cash. Rather, you're supposed to invest it so it grows into a large sum over time.
\n
You may be inclined to stop funding your retirement savings during periods when the stock market is doing poorly. But that's a mistake. The money that goes into your retirement plan gets tax-advantaged treatment, whether immediately or in the future, so it pays to keep pumping cash into your account even when the stock market isn't at its strongest.
\n
3. Not adding discounted stocks to your portfolio
\n
Many people assume that buying stocks during a market crash is a bad idea. But actually, the opposite is true.
\n
During market downturns, stock values tend to fall across the board. But that doesn't necessarily mean that the companies you're interested in are actually worth less money than they were the month prior. It just means that temporarily, their share prices are down. That gives you a prime opportunity to buy quality stocks when they're less expensive.
\n
For example, if you're interested in a given company whose share prices has been hovering around $50, during a market crash, it might fall to $40. Does that mean that from now on, shares will only be worth 40? Not at all. But if you scoop them up at $40 apiece, you'll set yourself up to profit big time when their values creeps back up to $50 or beyond.
\n
Knowing how to navigate a stock market crash could prevent you from making poor decisions that hurt you financially. Avoid the above mistakes the next time the market takes a turn for the worse -- you'll be much better off for it in the long run.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 Moves You'll Sorely Regret in a Stock Market Crash
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 Moves You'll Sorely Regret in a Stock Market Crash\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-07-17 21:57 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
The scary thing about stock market crashes is that they can happen when you least expect them to.
After all, the S&P 500 has nearly doubled from its pandemic lows in March 2020, and not all stocks and sectors will maintain their momentum.
\n
She thinks defensive sectors might start to pull back a bit. Those include utilities, health care and others companies that pay big dividends and are considered good bond proxies.
\n
The FAANGs and other big tech stocks, many of which have strong earnings momentum and tons of cash, should continue to rally, she said.
\n
Not the time to bail on the market
\n
So should economic recovery plays in the travel and retail sectors that have pulled back lately on Covid concerns. After all, the S&P 500 has nearly doubled from its pandemic lows in March 2020, and not all stocks and sectors will maintain their momentum.\nShe thinks defensive sectors might start to pull back a bit. Those include utilities, health care and others companies that pay big dividends and are considered good bond proxies.\nThe FAANGs and other big tech stocks, many of which have strong earnings momentum and tons of cash, should continue to rally, she said.\nNot the time to bail on the market\nSo should economic recovery plays in the travel and retail sectors that have pulled back lately on Covid concerns. United (UAL), for example, issued an upbeat outlook after the closing bell Tuesday.\n\"Airlines have been beaten up,\" Shah said. \"But if you assume the reopening will continue, they should enjoy a significant bounceback.\"\nStocks may remain bumpy for the foreseeable future, but that shouldn't dissuade investors from sticking with their longer-term investments.\n\"The uncertainty of the past couple of days is warranted for the short term,\" said Peter van der Welle, multi-asset strategist at Robeco. \"But there should be a second leg to the reflation trade.\"\nVan der Welle noted that there are many reasons to be optimistic about continued gains in consumer spending and retail sales, despite a recent drop in consumer confidence.\nBuy the dips\nAny wariness on the part of consumers — and investors, for that matter — could turn out to be fleeting.\n\"If you are a long-term investor, take advantage of this volatility and add to positions in companies and sectors you really like,\" said Phil Orlando, chief equity market strategist at Federated Hermes.\nHe he belives stocks in cyclical industries that have gotten hit because of Delta variant fears could enjoy the biggest rebounds.\n\"There are stocks that have hit an air pocket that could be very attractive. However, he would be the first to tell you that winners don't winallof the time. They have their ups and downs.
\n
Case in point: Cathie Wood certainly qualifies as a winner. Her ARK Invest exchange-traded funds have ranked among the best-performing ETFs in recent years. Not every stock in those funds has delivered a great return so far in 2021, though.
\n
Several of the ARK Invest CEO's favorites are actually down year to date. Don't count all of those recent underperformers out just yet, though. These three are among Wood's biggest losers of 2021, and all should still be huge winners over the long run.
\n
Teladoc Health
\n
Teladoc Health(NYSE:TDOC)shares have fallen more than 15% year to date, and that's weighing on several of Wood's ETFs. Teladoc is the top holding in theARK Genomic Revolution ETF, the second-largest position in theARK Innovation ETF, and the fifth-largest holding in theARK Next Generation Internet ETF.
\n
It appears that many investors are focusing only on the negatives for Teladoc. For example,in its Q1 update, the company reported a huge net loss and said that U.S. paid membership in the quarter slipped to 51.5 million from 51.8 million in the fourth quarter of 2020.
\n
However, that's only part of the story. Teladoc's total visits and utilization rate continue to climb. And much of that big loss was related to the company's acquisitions of Livongo and InTouch Health, deals that are already helping drive its revenue growth.
\n
My view is that Teladoc's downturn will be temporary. The long-term opportunities for the company in virtual care remain exceptionally strong.
\n
Unity Software
\n
Unity Software(NYSE:U)has been an especially poor performer for Wood this year -- the stock has plunged more than 30%. The gaming platform leader ranks No. 10 among the ARK Next Generation Internet ETF's holdings and No. 12 for the ARK Innovation ETF.
\n
The main knock against Unity is its slowing growth rate. In the fourth quarter of 2020, the company reported a 39% year-over-year revenue increase. However, that was weaker than its full-year revenue growth rate of 43%. Even more concerning, Unity provided a full-year revenue guidance range for 2021 anticipating growth of 24% at the midpoint.
\n
I don't think investors should be worried, though. For one thing, the pandemic boosted Unity's growth in 2020. It's not surprising that growth would slow somewhat after such an exceptional year. The company also anticipates taking a one-time hit to revenue in 2021 as advertisers adjust toApple's new IDFA user identification method.
\n
Unity still expects to generate annual revenue growth of at least 30% over the long term. Wood clearly remains a fan of the stock -- her ARK Innovation ETFscooped up more sharesrecently. I think that her optimism in this case is spot on.
\n
Vertex Pharmaceuticals
\n
Vertex Pharmaceuticals(NASDAQ:VRTX)hasn't been quite as big of a problem for Wood in 2021 as Teladoc and Unity. However, thebiotech stockhas fallen more than 10% year to date. It's the seventh-largest position for the ARK Genomic Revolution ETF.
\n
Wall Street analysts weren't happy with the Q4 results Vertex reported in February. Although the company narrowly beat revenue expectations, its adjusted earnings came in below analysts' estimates. Vertex also provided guidance for 2021 that anticipated slowing growth.
\n
However, Vertex still has a big market opportunity ahead for its newest cystic fibrosis treatment, Trikafta/Kaftrio, in Europe. The triple-drug combination quickly became a blockbuster in the U.S. after winning approval. However, its growth curve in Europe will take more time because Vertex has to negotiate reimbursement deals with the healthcare regulators in each individual country.
\n
I fully expect Vertex will achieve tremendous success outside of the cystic fibrosis market over the next few years. The big biotech seems really confident about the prospects for its candidate gene-editing therapy CTX001 in treating a pair of rare blood disorders: sickle cell disease and beta-thalassemia. It also has other promising pipeline candidates as well as a hefty cash stockpile. Vertex, like Teladoc and Unity, looks like a long-term winner despite its losing ways of late.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 of Cathie Wood's Biggest Losers of 2021 That Should Still Be Huge Long-Term Winners
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 of Cathie Wood's Biggest Losers of 2021 That Should Still Be Huge Long-Term Winners\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-04-30 22:00 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
David Gardner, a co-founder of The Motley Fool, often says that \"winners win.\" And he's exactly right. The S&P 500 pared earlier losses and advanced from Friday’s record high by gaining 9.91 points, or 0.23%, to 4,290.61. The Nasdaq Composite added 140.12 points, or 0.98%, to 14,500.51.
\n
Both the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq hit a series of record highs last week. the tech-heavy Nasdaq’s 5% gain in June is outpacing its peers as investors pile back in to tech-oriented growth stocks on diminishing worries about runaway inflation.
\n
“We believe with the Fed putting a realistic goal post, investors now have much more of a risk-on mentality going into the second half of the year.
