But if you pick the right i","content":"
One simple way to benefit from the stock market is to buy an index fund. But if you pick the right individual stocks, you could make more than that. For example, the The Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:PG) share price is up 68% in the last three years, clearly besting the market return of around 50% (not including dividends). However, more recent returns haven't been as impressive as that, with the stock returning just 7.6% in the last year , including dividends .
\n
So let's investigate and see if the longer term performance of the company has been in line with the underlying business' progress.
\n
To quote Buffett, 'Ships will sail around the world but the Flat Earth Society will flourish. There will continue to be wide discrepancies between price and value in the marketplace...' One way to examine how market sentiment has changed over time is to look at the interaction between a company's share price and its earnings per share (EPS).
\n
During three years of share price growth, Procter & Gamble achieved compound earnings per share growth of 15% per year. This EPS growth is lower than the 19% average annual increase in the share price. This suggests that, as the business progressed over the last few years, it gained the confidence of market participants. It's not unusual to see the market 're-rate' a stock, after a few years of growth.
\n
The company's earnings per share (over time) is depicted in the image below (click to see the exact numbers).
\n
NYSE:PG Earnings Per Share Growth September 20th 2021
\n
We know that Procter & Gamble has improved its bottom line lately, but is it going to grow revenue? Check if analysts think Procter & Gamble will grow revenue in the future.
\n
What About Dividends?
\n
It is important to consider the total shareholder return, as well as the share price return, for any given stock. The TSR incorporates the value of any spin-offs or discounted capital raisings, along with any dividends, based on the assumption that the dividends are reinvested. Arguably, the TSR gives a more comprehensive picture of the return generated by a stock. In the case of Procter & Gamble, it has a TSR of 82% for the last 3 years. That exceeds its share price return that we previously mentioned. And there's no prize for guessing that the dividend payments largely explain the divergence!
\n
A Different Perspective
\n
Procter & Gamble shareholders are up 7.6% for the year (even including dividends). Unfortunately this falls short of the market return. If we look back over five years, the returns are even better, coming in at 14% per year for five years. But if you pick the right individual stocks, you could make more than that. For example, the The Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:PG) share price is up 68% in the last three years, clearly besting the market return of around 50% (not including dividends). However, more recent returns haven't been as impressive as that, with the stock returning just 7.6% in the last year , including dividends .\nSo let's investigate and see if the longer term performance of the company has been in line with the underlying business' progress.\nTo quote Buffett, 'Ships will sail around the world but the Flat Earth Society will flourish. There will continue to be wide discrepancies between price and value in the marketplace...' One way to examine how market sentiment has changed over time is to look at the interaction between a company's share price and its earnings per share (EPS).\nDuring three years of share price growth, Procter & Gamble achieved compound earnings per share growth of 15% per year. This EPS growth is lower than the 19% average annual increase in the share price. This suggests that, as the business progressed over the last few years, it gained the confidence of market participants. It's not unusual to see the market 're-rate' a stock, after a few years of growth.\nThe company's earnings per share (over time) is depicted in the image below (click to see the exact numbers).\nNYSE:PG Earnings Per Share Growth September 20th 2021\nWe know that Procter & Gamble has improved its bottom line lately, but is it going to grow revenue? Check if analysts think Procter & Gamble will grow revenue in the future.\nWhat About Dividends?\nIt is important to consider the total shareholder return, as well as the share price return, for any given stock. And there's no prize for guessing that the dividend payments largely explain the divergence!\nA Different Perspective\nProcter & Gamble shareholders are up 7.6% for the year (even including dividends). Unfortunately this falls short of the market return. If we look back over five years, the returns are even better, coming in at 14% per year for five years. It's quite possible the business continues to execute with prowess, even as the share price gains are slowing. While it is well worth considering the different impacts that market conditions can have on the share price, there are other factors that are even more important. premarket:
\n
1) John Deere – The heavy equipment maker reported quarterly earnings of $5.32 per share, compared with a consensus estimate of $4.58, and its revenue beat forecasts as well. Deere was up 1.1% in premarket trading as it also raised its full-year earnings forecast on solid demand for farm equipment.
\n
2) Foot Locker – Foot Locker shares surged 6.2% in the premarket after the athletic footwear and apparel maker reported better-than-expected second-quarter results. Foot Locker earned an adjusted $2.21 per share, compared with a $1.01 consensus estimate, and comparable stores sales rose 6.9%. Analysts had expected a slight decline in comp sales.
\n
3) Buckle – The fashion accessories retailer beat estimates by 18 cents with quarterly earnings of $1.04 per share, and revenue above estimates as the company benefited from more in-person shopping. The stock jumped 4.6% in premarket trading.
\n
4) Spotify Technology S.A. – The music streaming service announced that its board approved a $1 billion stock buyback. Chief Financial Officer Paul Vogel said the move demonstrates the company’s confidence in its business and long-term growth opportunities. Spotify added 1.1% in the premarket.
\n
5) Applied Materials – The maker of semiconductor manufacturing equipment beat estimates by 13 cents with an adjusted quarterly profit of $1.90 per share and revenue also topping analyst predictions. It also gave a better-than-expected outlook, but Applied Materials shares fell 1.3% in premarket trading.
\n
6) Ross – The discount retailer reported a quarterly profit of $1.39 per share, beating the 98 cent consensus estimate, and also reported better-than-expected revenue. However, its current-quarter and full-year earnings outlook fell short of analyst forecasts, and the stock slid 4% in premarket action.
\n
7) Johnson & Johnson – Chief Executive Officer Alex Gorsky announced plans to step aside on Jan. 3, with company veteran Joaquin Duato taking over and Gorsky assuming the role of executive chairman.
\n
8) Lordstown Motors Corp. – The electric vehicle maker’s shares rose 2.1% in the premarket, recovering a small part of the 9.5% Thursday drop that had sent the stock to its lowest since going public. That took place after the annual shareholder meeting that lasted only 10 minutes.
\n
9) Adobe – The software maker announced a deal to buy cloud-based video collaboration platform Frame.io for $1.275 billion in cash. The acquisition will be used to expand the capabilities of Adobe’s Create Cloud software suite.
\n
10) Petco Health and Wellness Company, Inc. – Petco added 2.1% in the premarket to Thursday’s 3.6% gain, with Credit Suisse upgrading the pet products retailer’s stock to “outperform” from “neutral”. Credit Suisse said it is more positive on the outlook for Petco’s business following the company’s upbeat earnings report.
\n
11) Mosaic – The fertilizer producer was upgraded to “buy” from “hold” at HSBC, based on expected benefits from higher fertilizer prices.
\n
In FX,the index continues to extend on the upside seen post-FOMC as the risk tone remains tilted towards caution/risk aversion. Overnight, the DXY found a floor at 93.500 before rising to 93.684 at best as sentiment in Europe is tainted in early trade. From a technical standpoint, the index eyes resistance around the 93.900 mark - which acted as a ceiling on several occasions during Q3 and Q4 2020. Above that, a breach of the psychological 94.000 mark could open the door to resistance around 94.300 (4th Nov 2020 high), 94.500 and thereafter the 100 and 200 WMAs at 94.650 and 94.807 - although these are still some way off. To the downside, yesterday’s low was at 93.214, the psychological 93.000, whilst the 21 DMA (92.674) and the 50 DMA (92.377) reside just below. Ahead, an empty state-side calendar but price action will likely be dictated by the risk tone. As a side note Fed Chair Powell is to speak on the economic outlook at the Jackson Hole Symposium on August 27th at 15:00BST/10:00EDT.
\n
In commodities,WTI and Brent front-month futures are once again on a softer footing amid the continuing COVID concerns coupled with the cautious tone around the market. On the former, the overnight session saw an extension of the Kiwi nationwide lockdown alongside Australia's Sydney's curbs extended until the end of September. Aside from that news flow has been quiet for the complex and the market in general - with sentiment and Delta woes likely to take precedence in the absence of catalysts. It's why, even though we are enjoying a beautiful spring week, Goldman notes that single stock options trading activity is elevated relative to historical levels. To wit, daily options volumes are up 70% in April, up from YTD lows of $2.4bn on 30-Mar.

In total, across single stocks, $544BN of options are set to expiry today, including $305BN calls. As such, today’s expiry could be important for stocks with large open interest in at-the-money(ATM) options, as market makers delta-hedging their unusually large options portfolios will be active. This flow is likely to dampen volatility in some names while exacerbating stock price moves in others.

How to trade this?

As Goldman's Vishal Vivek writes, at major expirations, options traders track situations wherea large amount of open interest is set to expire. In situations where there is a significant amount of expiring open interest in at-the-money strikes (strike prices at or very near the current stockprice), delta-hedging activity can impact the underlying stock’s trading that day. If market makers or other options traders who delta-hedge their positions are net long ATM options, expiration-related flow could have the effect of dampening stock price movements, causing the stock price to settle near the strike with large open interest. This situation is often referred to as a “pin” and can be an ideal situation fora large investor trying to enter/exit a stock position. Alternatively, if delta-hedgers are net short ATM options (have a “negative gamma” position), their hedging activity could exacerbate stock price moves.

What that means it expiration-related trades may cause trading activity to aggressively pick up for stocks with a significant amount of ATM open interest.

So to help traders looking to hop on for daytrading opportunities, here is a table identifying possible focus stocks with large ATM open interest expiring today, which is compared to the average daily volume of the underlying stocks. As Goldman puts it, \"expiration-related activity is likely to have more of an impact if the open interest represents a significant percentage of the stock’s volume.\"

Finally, for what it's worth, this morning our friends at SpotGamma write that this has been a rather strange OPEX cycle, \"with a consistent almost mechanical bid pushing markets higher. We’ve not seen the Call Wall “breached” this many times before, but there are other aberrations that we’ve mentioned in previous notes – like net put sales. We’ve got some theories on this we are posting in a longer form piece.\"

According to SG, because implied volatility has now compressed (ie VIX at new lows) there is now more potential for “long term” volatility. Recall how as of late any sharp, violent drop in markets was bought so quickly (see chart below). These bursts lower coincided with record VIX spikes, but a reflective snap-back bid would bring a market recovery of equal force as the VIX (i.e. implied volatility) reversed.

And one other curious observation from SpotGamma:

When implied volatility is very high, its very sensitive to market moves and also signaling that markets are expecting more large moves ahead. As soon as markets would pause or catch a support level, that implied volatility would quickly reverse lower. We often think of this analogy that if a shark stops swimming, it sinks ( partially true!). If the market stops dropping then Implied volatility sinks.

With this, as we often talk about, lower implied volatility (ie lower VIX) signals market makers have to buy back short hedges which fuels rallies. It's why, even though we are enjoying a beautiful spring week, Goldman notes that single stock options trading activity is elevated relative to historical levels. To wit, daily options volumes are up 70% in April, up from YTD lows of $2.4bn on 30-Mar.In total, across single stocks, $544BN of options are set to expiry today, including $305BN calls. As such, today’s expiry could be important for stocks with large open interest in at-the-money(ATM) options, as market makers delta-hedging their unusually large options portfolios will be active. This flow is likely to dampen volatility in some names while exacerbating stock price moves in others. How to trade this?As Goldman's Vishal Vivek writes, at major expirations, options traders track situations wherea large amount of open interest is set to expire. As Goldman puts it, \"expiration-related activity is likely to have more of an impact if the open interest represents a significant percentage of the stock’s volume.\"Finally, for what it's worth, this morning our friends at SpotGamma write that this has been a rather strange OPEX cycle, \"with a consistent almost mechanical bid pushing markets higher. We’ve not seen the Call Wall “breached” this many times before, but there are other aberrations that we’ve mentioned in previous notes – like net put sales. We’ve got some theories on this we are posting in a longer form piece.\"According to SG, because implied volatility has now compressed (ie VIX at new lows) there is now more potential for “long term” volatility. Recall how as of late any sharp, violent drop in markets was bought so quickly (see chart below). These bursts lower coincided with record VIX spikes, but a reflective snap-back bid would bring a market recovery of equal force as the VIX (i.e. implied volatility) reversed. And one other curious observation from SpotGamma:When implied volatility is very high, its very sensitive to market moves and also signaling that markets are expecting more large moves ahead. SG's conclusion: this current level of lower implied volatility now gives the market more downside firepower. Starting with a lower implied volatility “slows down” that responsive “snap-back” buying mechanism. Additionally, gamma is higher when IV is lower so gamma flips may have more juice.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":144,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":352254662,"gmtCreate":1616980567656,"gmtModify":1634523339094,"author":{"id":"3575859183800572","authorId":"3575859183800572","name":"w8w8","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1a305fe39d1c227693a64cc331afda1a","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"3575859183800572","authorIdStr":"3575859183800572"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Lickking","listText":"Lickking","text":"Lickking","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/352254662","repostId":"2123281095","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":128,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":320167852,"gmtCreate":1615045355176,"gmtModify":1703484422410,"author":{"id":"3575859183800572","authorId":"3575859183800572","name":"w8w8","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1a305fe39d1c227693a64cc331afda1a","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"3575859183800572","authorIdStr":"3575859183800572"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Auckland Airport(AIA.AU)$any interest? But some fans of trendy momentum stocks aren't giving up on them just yet.
\n
That's the message from Cathie Wood of Ark Invest — who has become one of the more influential voices on Wall Street and is a major backer of Tesla (TSLA)— and two other titans of growth investing, who shared their investment insights Thursday.
\n
\"We've seen higher valuation stocks hit hard this year. But the growth for these innovative companies will still be treated well over time,\" Wood said during a webcast hosted by Cboe (CBOE) Global Markets.
\n
Wood joined Kevin O'Leary of \"Shark Tank\" fame (he also runs a family of O'Shares ETFs) and Jan van Eck, whose firm recently launched the BUZZ ETF that tracks stocks popular on social media, for the Cboe chat.
\n
Wood noted that investors are shifting their money into more so-called cyclical areas — those dependent on the success of the economy, like retailers and airlines — and said that's a good thing. She's encouraged to see that the broader market rally is broadening even further.
\n
The bullish case for growth stocks still exists
\n
As the economy continues its fragile recovery, fears about bond yields and inflation have been high. But all three of the fund managers said they are not too worried about these trends hurting growth stocks.
\n
They also stressed that younger individual investors will continue to play a big role in the market thanks to the rise of zero commission brokerage firms: \"There are a lot of retail investors playing in the market thanks to Robinhood and Coinbase. Individual investors are more engaged,\" van Eck said.
\n
He says investors should flock more to companies that have a big competitive advantage, such as those in his firm'sWide Moat ETF(MOAT)— which invests in stocks that are dominant in their respective fields, like its key holdings including Charles Schwab (SCHW),Intel (INTC),Microsoft (MSFT) and Amazon(AMZN).
\n
O'Leary, too, believes the stock market boom can last, saying he $1.9 trillion in new stimulus is \"free money\" for many investors. But he's not buying into the notion that cyclical stocks can continue to outperform tech for much longer.
\n
\"Yes, people are seeking quality. But some sectors are permanently damaged and airlines are one of them due to technology,\" he said. \"I don't need to fly to Dubai as much anymore for meetings when were doing Zoom calls every week.\"
\n
O'Leary said he is also willing to make some speculative bets on emerging industries that aren't getting a lot of attention. For example, O'Leary's firm owns shares of MindMed (MMEDF), which is working on developing legal psychedelic medications that can be used to help treat depression, anxiety and other mental health disorders.
\n
Wood is also investing in innovative health care companies, with oneArk ETF devoted to genomics (ARKG). And she thinks younger investors, many of whom are inheriting money from baby boomers, will continue to gravitate toward more dynamic fields like robotics and alternative energy. So she's not too concerned that the recent rebound in value stocks spells an end to the tech renaissance.
\n
\"A lot of companies catering to short-term investors who wanted profits now invested more in stock buybacks and dividends over innovation,\" Wood said. \"That puts them in harm's way.\"
\n
'Prime time' for bitcoin coming?
\n
Wood also thinks bitcoin is ready for \"prime time\" and that prices will continue climbing over the long haul as more companies will adopt crypto-friendly strategies like Tesla andSquar(SQ)have done. In fact, Wood said she thinks it makes sense for investors to have between 2.5% and 6.5% of their assets in bitcoin, adding that her funds are betting on crypto primarily through the publicly traded Grayscale Bitcoin Trus.(GBTC)
\n
O'Leary, meanwhile, had been somewhat skeptical of bitcoin a few years ago. But he said Thursday that he is growing more convinced that bitcoin will gain traction, and he believes it makes to have about 3% of a portfolio in bitcoin as well as crypto miner stocks.
\n
And van Eck noted that the upcoming market debut of Coinbase will be one to watch — at a potential valuation of $100 billion following its direct listing, the stock would dwarf the roughly $24 billion market value of Nasda.(NDAQ)
\n
With that in mind, van Eck expects more big investment firms to try to cash in on bitcoin or risk being left out.Fidelit,(EFIPX) for example, just jointed a growing list of firms filing to launch a crypto ETF with the SEC.
\n
\"Crypto Wall Street will be a disruptive threat to traditional banks and institutions,\" van Eck said.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Here's why Cathie Wood and Kevin O'Leary are still bullish on growth stocks
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nHere's why Cathie Wood and Kevin O'Leary are still bullish on growth stocks\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-03-26 21:25 GMT+8 CNN Business\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
New York (CNN Business) - Tech stocks have taken a hit lately as investors continue to seek comfort in banks, big oil and other value sectors. But the growth for these innovative companies will still be treated well over time,\" Wood said during a webcast hosted by Cboe (CBOE) Global Markets.\nWood joined Kevin O'Leary of \"Shark Tank\" fame (he also runs a family of O'Shares ETFs) and Jan van Eck, whose firm recently launched the BUZZ ETF that tracks stocks popular on social media, for the Cboe chat.\nWood noted that investors are shifting their money into more so-called cyclical areas — those dependent on the success of the economy, like retailers and airlines — and said that's a good thing. She's encouraged to see that the broader market rally is broadening even further.\nThe bullish case for growth stocks still exists\nAs the economy continues its fragile recovery, fears about bond yields and inflation have been high. But all three of the fund managers said they are not too worried about these trends hurting growth stocks.\nThey also stressed that younger individual investors will continue to play a big role in the market thanks to the rise of zero commission brokerage firms: \"There are a lot of retail investors playing in the market thanks to Robinhood and Coinbase. Individual investors are more engaged,\" van Eck said.\nHe says investors should flock more to companies that have a big competitive advantage, such as those in his firm'sWide Moat ETF(MOAT)— which invests in stocks that are dominant in their respective fields, like its key holdings including Charles Schwab (SCHW),Intel (INTC),Microsoft (MSFT) and Amazon(AMZN).\nO'Leary, too, believes the stock market boom can last, saying he $1.9 trillion in new stimulus is \"free money\" for many investors. But he's not buying into the notion that cyclical stocks can continue to outperform tech for much longer.\n\"Yes, people are seeking quality. But some sectors are permanently damaged and airlines are one of them due to technology,\" he said. \"I don't need to fly to Dubai as much anymore for meetings when were doing Zoom calls every week.\"\nO'Leary said he is also willing to make some speculative bets on emerging industries that aren't getting a lot of attention. For example, O'Leary's firm owns shares of MindMed (MMEDF), which is working on developing legal psychedelic medications that can be used to help treat depression, anxiety and other mental health disorders.\nWood is also investing in innovative health care companies, with oneArk ETF devoted to genomics (ARKG). And she thinks younger investors, many of whom are inheriting money from baby boomers, will continue to gravitate toward more dynamic fields like robotics and alternative energy. So she's not too concerned that the recent rebound in value stocks spells an end to the tech renaissance.\n\"A lot of companies catering to short-term investors who wanted profits now invested more in stock buybacks and dividends over innovation,\" Wood said. \"That puts them in harm's way.\"\n'Prime time' for bitcoin coming?\nWood also thinks bitcoin is ready for \"prime time\" and that prices will continue climbing over the long haul as more companies will adopt crypto-friendly strategies like Tesla andSquar(SQ)have done. In fact, Wood said she thinks it makes sense for investors to have between 2.5% and 6.5% of their assets in bitcoin, adding that her funds are betting on crypto primarily through the publicly traded Grayscale Bitcoin Trus.(GBTC)\nO'Leary, meanwhile, had been somewhat skeptical of bitcoin a few years ago. But he said Thursday that he is growing more convinced that bitcoin will gain traction, and he believes it makes to have about 3% of a portfolio in bitcoin as well as crypto miner stocks.\nAnd van Eck noted that the upcoming market debut of Coinbase will be one to watch — at a potential valuation of $100 billion following its direct listing, the stock would dwarf the roughly $24 billion market value of Nasda.(NDAQ)\nWith that in mind, van Eck expects more big investment firms to try to cash in on bitcoin or risk being left out.Fidelit,(EFIPX) for example, just jointed a growing list of firms filing to launch a crypto ETF with the SEC.\n\"Crypto Wall Street will be a disruptive threat to traditional banks and institutions,\" van Eck said.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":71,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":365835231,"gmtCreate":1614725175923,"gmtModify":1703480285184,"author":{"id":"3575859183800572","authorId":"3575859183800572","name":"w8w8","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1a305fe39d1c227693a64cc331afda1a","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"3575859183800572","authorIdStr":"3575859183800572"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"I love gamestop come buy it up","listText":"I love gamestop come buy it up","text":"I love gamestop come buy it up","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/365835231","repostId":"2116759466","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":107,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":891990994,"gmtCreate":1628313641518,"gmtModify":1633751712221,"author":{"id":"3575859183800572","authorId":"3575859183800572","name":"w8w8","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1a305fe39d1c227693a64cc331afda1a","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"3575859183800572","authorIdStr":"3575859183800572"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Sreamed","listText":"Sreamed","text":"Sreamed","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/891990994","repostId":"1119792130","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":150,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":171700127,"gmtCreate":1626761037269,"gmtModify":1633771266274,"author":{"id":"3575859183800572","authorId":"3575859183800572","name":"w8w8","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1a305fe39d1c227693a64cc331afda1a","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"3575859183800572","authorIdStr":"3575859183800572"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Teames","listText":"Teames","text":"Teames","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/171700127","repostId":"2152402666","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":89,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":349049806,"gmtCreate":1617509891305,"gmtModify":1634520713448,"author":{"id":"3575859183800572","authorId":"3575859183800572","name":"w8w8","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1a305fe39d1c227693a64cc331afda1a","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"3575859183800572","authorIdStr":"3575859183800572"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Steamed ","listText":"Steamed ","text":"Steamed","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/349049806","repostId":"1168930514","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1168930514","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1617332876,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1168930514?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-04-02 11:07","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Li Auto Inc. To avoid diluting current shareholders, the company will buy back the same amount of shares from the market at an 8.4% premium to the previous closing price.
\n
By undertaking its first buyback in about 2 1/2-years, CK Asset is hoping to boost a share price that has slumped more than 16% since the start of 2019, compared with an 8% rise in the benchmark Hang Seng Index.
\n
CK Asset, the real-estate flagship of the Li family’s CK Group, has seen its businesses including property development, aircraft leasing and pub operations hit hard after months of anti-Beijing protests in Hong Kong starting mid-2019 were followed by the coronavirus pandemic. CK Asset didn’t respond to requests for comment.
\n
“One key message of this deal is that CKA isn’t abandoning” buybacks, Daiwa Capital Markets analyst Jonas Kan said in a note following the announcement. “We will not be surprised if CKA turns more active in buybacks in the future, which shall be supportive for its share price.”
\n
The shares surged 7.2% the day after the deal was announced. To avoid diluting current shareholders, the company will buy back the same amount of shares from the market at an 8.4% premium to the previous closing price.\nBy undertaking its first buyback in about 2 1/2-years, CK Asset is hoping to boost a share price that has slumped more than 16% since the start of 2019, compared with an 8% rise in the benchmark Hang Seng Index.\nCK Asset, the real-estate flagship of the Li family’s CK Group, has seen its businesses including property development, aircraft leasing and pub operations hit hard after months of anti-Beijing protests in Hong Kong starting mid-2019 were followed by the coronavirus pandemic. CK Asset didn’t respond to requests for comment.\n“One key message of this deal is that CKA isn’t abandoning” buybacks, Daiwa Capital Markets analyst Jonas Kan said in a note following the announcement. “We will not be surprised if CKA turns more active in buybacks in the future, which shall be supportive for its share price.”\nThe shares surged 7.2% the day after the deal was announced. They have since erased some of those gains, in line with a broader decline in the Hang Seng Index.\n\nFurther sweetening the deal, the foundation will ensure CK Asset receives dividends, interest and other cash distributions from the infrastructure assets of at least HK$910 million both this year and next. The company also promises higher dividends for those two years than were paid in 2020.\nYet the deal has left some investors questioning the company’s governance, with the arrangement allowing the Li family to increase its stake in CK Asset to as much as 45% from 36% currently.\nIndividual investor Benny Chung reduced his holdings partly because the deal appears to have increased the family’s control at the expense of minority shareholders, he said in acolumnposted online Monday.
