Any investor needs to do their own research to make informed long-term decisions.
\n
Where Nvidia fits in
\n
Nvidia $(NVDA)$ is the predominant designer of graphics processing units (GPUs), which are the critical components of graphics cards used for high-end PC gaming and other graphically intense applications. Its main competitor for GPUs is Advanced Micro Devices Inc. $(AMD)$, although Intel Corp. $(INTC)$ is working on new products to compete in the space.
\n
The actual manufacturing of Nvidia's GPUs is handled by Taiwan Semiconductor Co. (2330.TW).
\n
Nvidia has also been rapidly increasing its sales of CPUs for data-center processing and making moves to become more competitive in artificial intelligence-related $(AI)$ areas as it waits for regulatory approval of its acquisition of Arm Holdings PLC. Jeremy Owens explains this complicated competition scenario .
\n
Key dynamics
\n
Nvidia's fiscal 2021 ended Jan. 31. Here are some of the most important numbers that professional investors keep an eye on for the company and its rivals.
\n
Sales growth
\n
The company breaks down its sales in two ways -- first, by reportable segment:
\n
(COMPANY FILING)
\n
Here's the sales breakdown by market platform:
\n
COMPANY FILING.
\n
With such incredible sales growth, it is probably not a surprise that Nvidia's stock has outperformed benchmarks -- it's up 17% this year and soared 122% in 2020. Nvidia topped $5 billion in quarterly sales for the first time in the last quarter. In the three-month period before that -- August through October 2020 -- the company surpassed $4 billion in sales for the first time.
\n
Pricing power and profitability
\n
Here are year-over-year comparisons of sales growth, gross margins and operating margins for Nvidia and five other large semiconductor industry players held by the iShares PHLX Semiconductor ETF $(SOXX)$. The ETF holds shares of 30 semiconductor manufacturers, designers and equipment makers. Each company has a unique mix of business lines. This means a direct comparison may not be meaningful.
\n
(FACTSET)
\n
The list includes AMD and INTC, which compete directly with Nvidia in some areas, but also Broadcom Inc. $(AVGO)$, Texas Instruments Inc. $(TXN)$ and Qualcomm Inc. $(QCOM)$ to round out the group that competes to make chips for various industries and platforms, including mobile devices and telecommunications.
\n
A company's gross margin is its sales, less the cost of goods sold, divided by sales. It is a measure of pricing power. An expanding gross margin with growing sales is a good sign. If the gross margin is contracting, it could mean a company is being forced to increase use of discounting to stave off competition. Comparing only two periods may not be especially meaningful, but it is important to understand if there is a trend.
\n
A company's operating margin is its earnings before interest, taxes and depreciation divided by net sales. It can be considered \"return on sales.\"
\n
Nvidia's gross margin narrowed during its fiscal fourth quarter. But its operating margin widened. The margin numbers were impressive for Broadcom, Texas Instruments and Qualcomm, while Intel's numbers on the chart were weak across the board.
\n
Free cash flow
\n
Many professional investors believe that valuation measures that are related to companies' cash flows are more useful than traditional measures tied to profits, sales or book value. This is, in part, because intellectual property is so important in a service economy.
\n
A company's free cash flow $(FCF)$ yield can be calculated by dividing its trailing 12 months' FCF by the current share price.
\n
Here's a comparison of the six companies' changes in free cash flow per share for the past 12 reported months from the year-earlier 12-month period, along with trailing 12-month free cash flow yields, based on closing share prices April 23:
\n
(FACTSET)
\n
Companies' free cash flow can vary significantly, and a rapidly expanding company may not have a high FCF yield as it continually reinvests in its business. But the numbers can still be useful. For investors looking for value plays, Intel might be compelling with such a high FCF yield, provided you are also confident in CEO Patrick Gelsinger's plans to turn the company around.
\n
Stock valuation and performance
\n
Here are price-to-earnings (P/E) valuations for the six stocks, based on consensus earnings estimates for the next 12 months among analysts polled by FactSet, along with total return figures through April 23:
\n
(FACTSET)
\n
Nvidia is the 10-year total-return champion in this group, but AMD takes the prizes for five years and three years. Nvidia has the highest forward P/E valuation, a bit ahead of AMD. These are high valuations when compared to aggregate forward P/E ratios of 22.4 for the S&P 500 and 30.6 for the Nasdaq-100 index. But the stock market places a premium on consistent high double-digit sales growth.
\n
Wall Street's opinion
\n
Here's a summary of opinion among Wall Street analysts polled by FactSet:
\n
(FACTSET)
\n

\n
Important dates
\n
\n
May 26 — Nvidia is scheduled to announce results for its first quarter of fiscal 2022 at 5 p.m. ET.
\n
","source":"lsy1603348471595","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Should you buy Nvidia stock? And investors should expect ups and downs for both the business developments and the stock, as was seen with today's jump and drop.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":48,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":361738957,"gmtCreate":1614261078879,"gmtModify":1634550419518,"author":{"id":"3571039500107061","authorId":"3571039500107061","name":"Fazz","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/bad7634d23b0fd4a9e469e2651fe5688","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3571039500107061","authorIdStr":"3571039500107061"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$AUVI","listText":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$AUVI","text":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$AUVI","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/361738957","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":126,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":361795385,"gmtCreate":1614260606047,"gmtModify":1634550422955,"author":{"id":"3571039500107061","authorId":"3571039500107061","name":"Fazz","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/bad7634d23b0fd4a9e469e2651fe5688","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3571039500107061","authorIdStr":"3571039500107061"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$GameStop(GME)$AUVI ","listText":"$GameStop(GME)$AUVI ","text":"$GameStop(GME)$AUVI","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/361795385","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":248,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":361448499,"gmtCreate":1614257965411,"gmtModify":1634550438170,"author":{"id":"3571039500107061","authorId":"3571039500107061","name":"Fazz","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/bad7634d23b0fd4a9e469e2651fe5688","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3571039500107061","authorIdStr":"3571039500107061"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"👎🏻","listText":"👎🏻","text":"👎🏻","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/361448499","repostId":"1124529867","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1124529867","pubTimestamp":1614245782,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1124529867?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-02-25 17:36","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Facebook, Netflix Face Fresh Scrutiny as India Tightens Rules","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1124529867","media":"Bloomberg","summary":"India reins in social media, streaming with new guidelines\nCountry joins the fray in targeting Silic","content":"
\n
India reins in social media, streaming with new guidelines
\n
Country joins the fray in targeting Silicon Valley giants
\n
\n
India joined the global regulatory push to rein in Silicon Valley technology giants, tightening rules that govern how social media and streaming companies do business in the world’s biggest democracy.
\n
The new rules will require the likes of Facebook Inc. and Twitter Inc. to take down unlawful content quicker, Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said in an online briefing Thursday. Why Tech Analysts Might Be Too Excited.","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1165777611","media":"Barrons","summary":"Implications of Apple’s entry into the car business continues to generate muchspeculationand manyana","content":"
Implications of Apple’s entry into the car business continues to generate muchspeculationand manyanalyst reportsfrom various stockbrokerage firms. Piper Sandler weighed into the debate Wednesday, saying an Apple car makes perfect sense. Investors, however, should remember that producing an automobile is very, very different from making a smartphone.
\n
Piper tech analystHarsh Kumarsays the timing is right for an Apple (ticker: AAPL) car. “The company can enter the market at a time of peak technology disruption while avoiding the risk of forming the market,” wrote the analyst in a Wednesday research report. Electric vehicles are proliferating, and autonomous driving technology is advancing. Cars will drive and feel different in the future—an Apple car would likely be an all-electric vehicle with self-driving options.
\n
Apple has so far declined to comment about any car plans recently.
\n
Kumar covers Apple and other technology stocks. His 23-page report dives deep into the auto business—for tech investors. Industry size and market segmentation between, say, luxury cars and economy sedans, covered in his report, are par for the course in auto research.
\n
He assumes Apple, down the road, will sell 100,000 cars in year one. That might be aggressive.NIO(NIO),Li Auto(LI), andXPeng(XPEV) are threeEV startupsthat have been in business for years. They managed to sell about 100,000 vehicles on a combined basis in 2020. Kumar thinks Apple can be delivering 1 million cars by 2030.
\n
For tech analysts at this point, the Apple car appears to be an exercise in fun with numbers. They are attracted to the huge market size: New car sales top $2.5 trillion annually. But auto analysts’ enthusiasm for an Apple vehicle is more tempered, and perhaps for good reason.
\n
One factor that might hamper Apple’s ambitions is that cars are, of course, significantly more expensive than phones, making the purchase decision very different. In addition, “the regulatory side of the auto business is brutal and takes years to get through,” Benchmark auto analystMike WardtellsBarron’s.
\n
Ward says he isn’t hearing Apple buzz in the auto industry. It’s “pretty tough to keep that quiet in the auto industry—thousands of suppliers, [government] approvals, the size of the factory needed, etc.” He isn’t saying it can’t happen, but it is harder than many investors might expect.
\n
Morgan Stanley analystAdam Jonasalso covers cars mainly. He doesn’t appear certain an Apple car is on the way, but if one does show up, “don’t expect steering wheels.” That means full self-driving, which also means the Apple car is still years away.
\n
He believes an Apple car can accelerate EV penetration. That could help existing auto makers with more progressive approaches to the EV market. But higher penetration isn’t a panacea for the car business. “At some point, today’s EV players must share the sandbox,” wrote the analyst in a recent report.
\n
That threat isn’t affecting his ratings on competitors yet. He rate Tesla stock Buy and callsGeneral Motors(GM) a top pick.
\n
J.P. Morgan‘s tech and car teams produced a joint report recently, and they don’t see an Apple car coming soon. They agreed if an Apple car is on the way, it will be delayed until full self-driving capability is more widely available.Robotaxi services, which can handle city driving, are planned in the next couple of years. But full self-driving capabilities are farther away—the cost of sensors needs to fall, and the software still needs to improve.
\n
The firm’s U.S. auto analystRyan Brinkmanadded that a new competitor the size and strength of Apple is a negative for existing auto makers, but, like Ward, he hasn’t heard about any collaboration in the auto-supply base.
\n
Another thing J.P. Piper Sandler weighed into the debate Wednesday, saying an Apple car makes perfect sense. Investors, however, should remember that producing an automobile is very, very different from making a smartphone.\nPiper tech analystHarsh Kumarsays the timing is right for an Apple (ticker: AAPL) car. “The company can enter the market at a time of peak technology disruption while avoiding the risk of forming the market,” wrote the analyst in a Wednesday research report. Electric vehicles are proliferating, and autonomous driving technology is advancing. Cars will drive and feel different in the future—an Apple car would likely be an all-electric vehicle with self-driving options.\nApple has so far declined to comment about any car plans recently.\nKumar covers Apple and other technology stocks. His 23-page report dives deep into the auto business—for tech investors. Industry size and market segmentation between, say, luxury cars and economy sedans, covered in his report, are par for the course in auto research.\nHe assumes Apple, down the road, will sell 100,000 cars in year one. That might be aggressive.NIO(NIO),Li Auto(LI), andXPeng(XPEV) are threeEV startupsthat have been in business for years. They managed to sell about 100,000 vehicles on a combined basis in 2020. Kumar thinks Apple can be delivering 1 million cars by 2030.\nFor tech analysts at this point, the Apple car appears to be an exercise in fun with numbers. They are attracted to the huge market size: New car sales top $2.5 trillion annually. But auto analysts’ enthusiasm for an Apple vehicle is more tempered, and perhaps for good reason.\nOne factor that might hamper Apple’s ambitions is that cars are, of course, significantly more expensive than phones, making the purchase decision very different. In addition, “the regulatory side of the auto business is brutal and takes years to get through,” Benchmark auto analystMike WardtellsBarron’s.\nWard says he isn’t hearing Apple buzz in the auto industry. It’s “pretty tough to keep that quiet in the auto industry—thousands of suppliers, [government] approvals, the size of the factory needed, etc.” He isn’t saying it can’t happen, but it is harder than many investors might expect.\nMorgan Stanley analystAdam Jonasalso covers cars mainly. He doesn’t appear certain an Apple car is on the way, but if one does show up, “don’t expect steering wheels.” That means full self-driving, which also means the Apple car is still years away.\nHe believes an Apple car can accelerate EV penetration. That could help existing auto makers with more progressive approaches to the EV market. But higher penetration isn’t a panacea for the car business. “At some point, today’s EV players must share the sandbox,” wrote the analyst in a recent report.\nThat threat isn’t affecting his ratings on competitors yet. He rate Tesla stock Buy and callsGeneral Motors(GM) a top pick.\nJ.P. But full self-driving capabilities are farther away—the cost of sensors needs to fall, and the software still needs to improve.\nThe firm’s U.S. auto analystRyan Brinkmanadded that a new competitor the size and strength of Apple is a negative for existing auto makers, but, like Ward, he hasn’t heard about any collaboration in the auto-supply base.\nAnother thing J.P. Morgan agrees on is outsourced manufacturing, meaning that Apple isn’t likely to assemble its car. That creates an opportunity for some existing car marker to build more volume. What company would win, however, isanyone’s guess.\nWedbush analystDan Ives, who covers disruptive technology, which includes Apple and EV makerTesla(TSLA), is placing his bets onVolkswagen(VOW.Germany). “We assign a 85%-plus chance that Apple will announce an EV partnership/collaboration over the next 3 to 6 months,” wrote Ives in a recent report. “We continue to strongly believe that VW is a top candidate for an Apple EV partnership/JV given the company’s modular factory footprint as well as the keyQuantumScapeownership.”\nQuantumScape (QS) is pioneering solid-state lithium anode batteries that promise to improve electric-vehicle range and safety, while lowering costs and charge time.\nApple car hopes aren’t affecting investors much yet. Since new reports of a possible Apple car surfaced in December, GM and Tesla shares are up about 26% and 10%, respectively. TheS&P 500andDow Jones Industrial Average, for comparison, are up about 5% and 4%, respectively. Apple shares are down about 6%.\nInvestors, it appears, have other more pressing issues on their minds.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":165,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":385457751,"gmtCreate":1613573500973,"gmtModify":1631892638896,"author":{"id":"3571039500107061","authorId":"3571039500107061","name":"Fazz","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/bad7634d23b0fd4a9e469e2651fe5688","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3571039500107061","authorIdStr":"3571039500107061"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"<a sign.

Many investors might see this differently — that a huge influx of cash is positive. In fact, fund flows are a contrarian indicator: the U.S. stock market in the past has performed better when there is a net outflow of cash.

The evidence is summarized in the chart below, which plots net inflows of cash to U.S. stock funds (both open-end and exchange-traded funds) by year over the past decade. Notice that in all but two of the years since 2010 there have been net outflows.

Reversal

Net flows into U.S. equity (open-endded funds and ETF), in billions

This 2010-2020 period was extremely strong for U.S. stocks. Yet over this time U.S. stock funds experienced a net outflow of $741 billion. (Data are from TrimTabs, a part of EPFR, a division of Informa Financial Intelligence.)

This year so far is seeing a major reversal of this longer-term trend. For the first four months of this year, according to TrimTabs, U.S. equity funds have received net inflows of $142.3 billion. If this pace were to continue for the full year, there would be $427 billion of net inflows in 2021 — retracing more than half the total outflow from 2010 through 2020.

One study that puts this huge year-to-date inflow in a bearish light appeared last December in the Review of Finance. Entitled “ETF Arbitrage, Non-Fundamental Demand, and Return Predictability,” the study was conducted by David Brown of the University of Arizona, Shaun William Davies of the University of Colorado Boulder and Matthew Ringgenberg of the University of Utah. The researchers found that, on average, the ETFs with the biggest outflows outperformed the ETFs with the biggest inflows for up to a year after these extreme flows.

Another academic study that reached a similar conclusion has been circulating since January. Entitled “Competition for Attention in the ETF Space,” the study was conducted by Itzhak Ben-David and Byungwook Kim of Ohio State University, Francesco Franzoni of the University of Lugano in Switzerland and Rabih Moussawi of Villanova University. The researchers focused on the specialized ETFs that are created to capitalize on investor fads and market trends, and which typically receive a big influx of cash soon after launch. Notice that in all but two of the years since 2010 there have been net outflows.ReversalNet flows into U.S. equity (open-endded funds and ETF), in billionsThis 2010-2020 period was extremely strong for U.S. stocks. Yet over this time U.S. stock funds experienced a net outflow of $741 billion. (Data are from TrimTabs, a part of EPFR, a division of Informa Financial Intelligence.)This year so far is seeing a major reversal of this longer-term trend. For the first four months of this year, according to TrimTabs, U.S. equity funds have received net inflows of $142.3 billion. If this pace were to continue for the full year, there would be $427 billion of net inflows in 2021 — retracing more than half the total outflow from 2010 through 2020.One study that puts this huge year-to-date inflow in a bearish light appeared last December in the Review of Finance. Entitled “ETF Arbitrage, Non-Fundamental Demand, and Return Predictability,” the study was conducted by David Brown of the University of Arizona, Shaun William Davies of the University of Colorado Boulder and Matthew Ringgenberg of the University of Utah. The researchers found that, on average, the ETFs with the biggest outflows outperformed the ETFs with the biggest inflows for up to a year after these extreme flows.Another academic study that reached a similar conclusion has been circulating since January. They found that these ETFs over their first five years after launch lag the market on a risk-adjusted basis by 5% per year on average. The tenuous relationship between performance and fund flows is evident also in the accompanying tables. The first lists the 10 ETFs with the best year-to-date returns. The second table lists the 10 ETFs with the largest net inflows. Movement in the stock today mirrored that pattern. After an early 10% jump, shares closed more than 3% lower on Thursday.
\n
So what
\n
Shares of the company are down more than 30% year to date after a triple-digit spike in late 2020. The company tends to trade with the electric-vehicle (EV) sector as a speculative stock hoping to revolutionize EV battery technology.
\n
Today, QuantumScape CEO Jagdeep Singh gave an interview to Yahoo! Finance, which may have contributed to the stock's volatile trading.
\n
Now what
\n
During today's interview, Singh reiterated some positive developments the company shared with investors last week in its earnings release. The company is working toward commercializing the solid-state battery technology that could provide EV makers with a safer, faster-charging battery that can also deliver longer ranges.
\n
The company reported it has successfully built its first multilayer battery cell with four layers. This helps confirm the technology is feasible. Singh added that he plans to scale up the technology to have an eight to 10-layer cell by the end of this year. Movement in the stock today mirrored that pattern. After an early 10% jump, shares closed more than 3% lower on Thursday.\nSo what\nShares of the company are down more than 30% year to date after a triple-digit spike in late 2020. The company tends to trade with the electric-vehicle (EV) sector as a speculative stock hoping to revolutionize EV battery technology.\nToday, QuantumScape CEO Jagdeep Singh gave an interview to Yahoo! Finance, which may have contributed to the stock's volatile trading.\nNow what\nDuring today's interview, Singh reiterated some positive developments the company shared with investors last week in its earnings release. The company is working toward commercializing the solid-state battery technology that could provide EV makers with a safer, faster-charging battery that can also deliver longer ranges.\nThe company reported it has successfully built its first multilayer battery cell with four layers. This helps confirm the technology is feasible. Singh added that he plans to scale up the technology to have an eight to 10-layer cell by the end of this year. That would allow the company to deliver sample cells to automotive manufacturers.\nSingh also said there is interest from other sectors for the technology. \"Things like stationary storage for the grid, that's a really important application for batteries,\" Singh stated in the interview.\nSuccessful commercial production is far from guaranteed, however. Any investment should be squarely in a speculative portion of a portfolio. And investors should expect ups and downs for both the business developments and the stock, as was seen with today's jump and Block","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1109554256","media":"marketwatch","summary":"The founder of San Francisco-based Muddy Waters, who made his name shorting Chinese stocks, told Mar","content":"
The founder of San Francisco-based Muddy Waters, who made his name shorting Chinese stocks, told MarketWatch in a Monday-afternoon interview that the dust-up between a select group of individual investors using Reddit chat forums and a clutch of professional investors highlights the problems swirling in a market that has been buttressed by easy-money policies from the Federal Reserve and government aid to help stem the economic harm from the COVID-19 pandemic.
\n
Asked if his view that markets are ludicrous centered on the hubbub surrounding retail trading that has fostered precipitous gains in shares of companies like GameStop Corp.GME,-30.77%,AMC Entertainment HoldingsAMC,+0.30%,Koss Corp.KOSS,-45.31%and BlackBerry Ltd.BB,+3.76%,Block had a simple answer: “Abosolutely.”
\n
“There’s no fundamentals that justify…a stock rising 15x where it was a few weeks ago,” Block said, referring to individual investors who congregate on sites like Reddit message boards and have been credited with boosting theshare prices of struggling companiesand in the process crippling short-selling hedge funds that had bet against those companies.
\n
Block, a prominent short seller, said that last week it was as if some of the so-called meme stocks, championed by groups of individual investors, were taking away from liquidity in the broader market.
\n
“We saw that degrossing of hedge funds and if you continue to see that…things can break every quickly.”
\n
The advance in heavily shorted shares targeted by the army of individual investors has already been blamed for troubles with a number of funds.
\n
Melvin Capital Management, one of the hedge funds seen at the center of the kerfuffle over GameStop, lost 53% on its investments in January, while Maplelane Capital ended January with a roughly 45% loss,The Wall Street Journal wrote, citing people familiar with the matters.
\n
On top of that, famed short seller Andrew Left, founder of Citron Research, last Friday said he was altering his strategy, and would no longer publish short-selling reports.
\n
Block said that Muddy Waters has been pivoting more toward long investing in recent years, but said that he still views his brand of short selling and pointing out malfeasance as useful.
\n
“I believe at the end of the day, that the research that we produce has utility. It has led to eight delistings…and a [Justice Department] case against tariff evasion,” he said.
\n
Ultimately, he said Muddy Waters would continue its work and that the market would determine whether it becomes uneconomical.
\n
Beyond investing, Carson launchedZer0es.TVlast year, with the intent of providing in-depth discussions about short selling and investing. In a recent video, he said that angst emanating from Redditors may also reflect pent-up frustration with COVID confinement and a desire to disrupt establishment structures as the gap between the wealthy and the impoverished widens.
\n
He said that the new landscape of social-media-driven trading may result in pros being more nimble.
\n
“We may just have to be more creative and smart in how we structure trades and manage risk,” he added, suggesting that pro investors may need to structure more complex trades to avoid being blown out of some positions.
\n
Block said he’s not betting that the markets will break down soon, but warned that we are at a point in the cycle where anything can go wrong.
\n
“We’re not in a tightening cycle, but there are a lot of things that can go wrong and can have a knock-on effect to the market, and a market that is very much tied to flows,” Block said.
\n
“I’m not taking the view that it’s about to end soon,” he said.
\n
On Monday, the market regained some of the ground lost in Friday’s drubbing, with the Dow Jones Industrial AverageDJIA,+0.76%,the S&P 500 indexSPX,+1.61%and the Nasdaq Composite IndexCOMP,+2.55%finishing solidly higher.
\n
Block rose to fame in 2011 after he revealed fraudulent practices at Chinese forestry company Sino-Forest Corp., which ended up filing for bankruptcy the following year.
\n
Block, on hisZer0es.TVwebcast, said he has little doubt about where this ends for individual investors, and described popular trading platform Robinhood as selling their clients to market makers, who in turn pay them for customer information, known as payment for order flow.
\n
“When you look at Robinhood, it’s the ultimate manifestation of the Silicon Valley model, right? You know, we are the products that are sold when you’re using Twitter, Gmail, etc.,” he said.
\n
“I have no doubt where this ends, right … for retail — I mean, in tears.”
","source":"lsy1603348471595","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; It has led to eight delistings…and a [Justice Department] case against tariff evasion,” he said.\nUltimately, he said Muddy Waters would continue its work and that the market would determine whether it becomes uneconomical.\nBeyond investing, Carson launchedZer0es.TVlast year, with the intent of providing in-depth discussions about short selling and investing. In a recent video, he said that angst emanating from Redditors may also reflect pent-up frustration with COVID confinement and a desire to disrupt establishment structures as the gap between the wealthy and the impoverished widens.\nHe said that the new landscape of social-media-driven trading may result in pros being more nimble.\n“We may just have to be more creative and smart in how we structure trades and manage risk,” he added, suggesting that pro investors may need to structure more complex trades to avoid being blown out of some positions.\nBlock said he’s not betting that the markets will break down soon, but warned that we are at a point in the cycle where anything can go wrong.\n“We’re not in a tightening cycle, but there are a lot of things that can go wrong and can have a knock-on effect to the market, and a market that is very much tied to flows,” Block said.\n“I’m not taking the view that it’s about to end soon,” he said.\nOn Monday, the market regained some of the ground lost in Friday’s drubbing, with the Dow Jones Industrial AverageDJIA,+0.76%,the S&P 500 indexSPX,+1.61%and the Nasdaq Composite IndexCOMP,+2.55%finishing solidly higher.\nBlock rose to fame in 2011 after he revealed fraudulent practices at Chinese forestry company Sino-Forest Corp., which ended up filing for bankruptcy the following year.\nBlock, on hisZer0es.TVwebcast, said he has little doubt about where this ends for individual investors, and described popular trading platform Robinhood as selling their clients to market makers, who in turn pay them for customer information, known as payment for order flow.\n“When you look at Robinhood, it’s the ultimate manifestation of the Silicon Valley model, right? You know, we are the products that are sold when you’re using Twitter, Gmail, etc.,” he said.\n“I have no doubt where this ends, right … for retail — I mean, in tears.”","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":115,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":315816992,"gmtCreate":1612230621816,"gmtModify":1703759056863,"author":{"id":"3571039500107061","authorId":"3571039500107061","name":"Fazz","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/bad7634d23b0fd4a9e469e2651fe5688","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3571039500107061","idStr":"3571039500107061"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Adipoli ","listText":"Adipoli ","text":"Adipoli","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/315816992","repostId":"1104314892","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":163,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
