The stock ended Thursday up $16, or 80%, at $36.\nJay Ritter, a University of Florida professor who studies IPOs, said that Thursday wasn’t a bad day for the market even though five of the six stock sales broke, or fell below their offering prices. Instead, he said, IPOs are being priced closer to the actual value of the stock.\nSince April 1 last year, he said, the average first day gain for IPOs was 38%, Ritter said. “The average first day return this month was down to 10%, including today’s deals,” Ritter toldBarron’s.\nOlink raised nearly $353 million,selling 17,647,058 shares at $20 each, comfortably above the range of $16 to $18 it had told investors to expect. All the other five priced their shares at or below the forecasted prices,Goldman,Morgan Stanley,and SVB Leerink are underwriters on the deal.\nOlink, based in Sweden, provides products and services for proteomics research.
