Its data platform is unique in that it is not built on an existing big data platform. In addition to big data and analytics, I believe Snowflake is positioned well to create a unique digital advertising moat, which I discuss in detail here.&nbsp;I have been a fan of this stock since pre-IPO, and I have high conviction long term.</p>\n<p><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/U\"><b>Unity Software</b>&nbsp;</a>&nbsp;is best known for gaming. It provides tools and software to assist developers in game creation and marketing. In 2019, over 50% of the top 1,000 mobile games were created using Unity. Unity has players in 195 countries, so it's literally a global company. Unity powers billon-dollar mobile games like <i>Pokémon Go</i> and <i>Angry Birds</i>.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>But augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) are why I personally own the stock. Think metaverse! However, Unity is actually quite diverse in terms of its offerings and industry segments. That's because they create a virtual world (in the case of a VR headset) or merge the virtual and real worlds (in the case of AR headsets). These headsets are likely to be the first point of contact for anyone looking to get into the metaverse, whether it be to work, play, or study.</p>\n<p>Not surprisingly, the demand for such headsets is expected to go through the roof. Market research firm IDC forecasts that sales of VR headsets could increase from an estimated 8 million units in 2021 to 29 million units in 2025. (The&nbsp;S&amp;P 500&nbsp;has been flat over the same time period, while the&nbsp;Dow Jones Industrial Average&nbsp;has slipped about 2%.)</p>\n<p>But Friday’s sale, disclosed on a Form 4 filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, wasn’t Musk offloading some of his holdings: Instead, Tesla CFO Zachry Kirkhorn sold 1,250 shares worth about $1.3 million. Kirkhorn has about 53,700 shares of Tesla stock left, which are worth approximately $61 million.</p>\n<p>Even if Musk hadn’t sold a lot of stock recently, investors always like to track insider stock sales. As long-time <i>Barron’s</i>editor Alan Ableson once eloquently put it, there are many reasons for an insider to sell, but the stock going up isn’t one of them. Insider sales can be a signal that things are as good as they’ll get for a company.</p>\n<p>Kirkhorn’s sale doesn’t fit that bill, though. The transaction is part of a Rule 105b-1 plan,which is a regulator-approved system used by corporate insiders to sell stock in a prearranged fashion so they don’t run afoul of insider trading rules. These types of plans also avoid giving the market a signal about how an insider feels about their company’s stock price. Kirkhorn’s plan was put in place back in May 2020.</p>\n<p>This isn’t the end of tracking insider sales at Tesla. Musk committed to selling 10% of his stake in the company, after posting a Twitter (TWTR) poll on Nov. 6 which asked if people backed the move.\nWhen the survey was posted, that worked out to about 17 million shares. That’s a lot of stock—and large amounts of shares being bought or sold will move a company’s stock price significantly. Since the poll, Musk has sold about 7.6 million shares, including ones that were sold to pay taxes when exercising expiring management stock options. The sales have netted about $8.2 billion in proceeds.\nThey’ve also created an overhang for Tesla: Its stock has fallen about 7% since Musk tweeted the survey. (The S&P 500 has been flat over the same time period, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average has slipped about 2%.)\nBut Friday’s sale, disclosed on a Form 4 filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, wasn’t Musk offloading some of his holdings: Instead, Tesla CFO Zachry Kirkhorn sold 1,250 shares worth about $1.3 million. Kirkhorn has about 53,700 shares of Tesla stock left, which are worth approximately $61 million.\nEven if Musk hadn’t sold a lot of stock recently, investors always like to track insider stock sales. Nvidia's overall results are driven by these two businesses. In the first and second quarters of this fiscal year, these two platforms together accounted for 85% and 83%, respectively, of the company's total revenue.</p>\n<p>In last quarter's CFO commentary, Colette Kress said \"the gaming platform's growth was driven by continued strong sales of the GeForce RTX 30 Series, based on the company's Ampere GPU [graphics processing unit] architecture,\" as I wrote at the time. \"She attributed the data center's year-over-year increase to the ramp-up of Ampere 'products into vertical industries and hyperscale customers.'\" Likewise, professional visualization's growth was driven by the ramp-up of Ampere GPUs, especially for desktop workstations.</p>\n<p>Investors shouldn't pay too much attention to Nvidia's results in the OEM and IP categories. Last quarter's huge year-over-year increase was driven by the company's introduction earlier in the year of a product specifically for mining cryptocurrencies, aptly called the cryptocurrency mining processor (CMP). Last quarter, sales of this product were $266 million, or 4.1% of Nvidia's total revenue.</p>\n<p>Nvidia's launch of the CMP was more defensive than offensive. Crypto miners had been scooping up the company's gaming cards, making it more difficult for gamers to get their hands on them. While it's great that Nvidia is making money from the crypto market, it's best to view this money as just icing on the cake. The crypto space is extremely volatile, so investors shouldn't count on seeing Nvidia's CMP sales grow rather linearly quarter after quarter.</p>\n<p>Pending Arm acquisition</p>\n<p>Investors can expect management to provide an update on the company's pending acquisition of leading mobile-chip designer Arm, owned by Japan's<b>SoftBank</b>. This $40 billion deal was announced in September 2020 and was originally expected to close by March 2022. But this timeline is looking shaky. In the first and second quarters of this fiscal year, these two platforms together accounted for 85% and 83%, respectively, of the company's total revenue.\nIn last quarter's CFO commentary, Colette Kress said \"the gaming platform's growth was driven by continued strong sales of the GeForce RTX 30 Series, based on the company's Ampere GPU [graphics processing unit] architecture,\" as I wrote at the time. \"She attributed the data center's year-over-year increase to the ramp-up of Ampere 'products into vertical industries and hyperscale customers.'\" Likewise, professional visualization's growth was driven by the ramp-up of Ampere GPUs, especially for desktop workstations.\nInvestors shouldn't pay too much attention to Nvidia's results in the OEM and IP categories. Last quarter's huge year-over-year increase was driven by the company's introduction earlier in the year of a product specifically for mining cryptocurrencies, aptly called the cryptocurrency mining processor (CMP). Last quarter, sales of this product were $266 million, or 4.1% of Nvidia's total revenue.\nNvidia's launch of the CMP was more defensive than offensive. Crypto miners had been scooping up the company's gaming cards, making it more difficult for gamers to get their hands on them. While it's great that Nvidia is making money from the crypto market, it's best to view this money as just icing on the cake. The crypto space is extremely volatile, so investors shouldn't count on seeing Nvidia's CMP sales grow rather linearly quarter after quarter.\nPending Arm acquisition\nInvestors can expect management to provide an update on the company's pending acquisition of leading mobile-chip designer Arm, owned by Japan'sSoftBank. This $40 billion deal was announced in September 2020 and was originally expected to close by March 2022. But this timeline is looking shaky.
