Let’s hope it comes up with something drastic that will help prevent NOK stock from its constant decline.</p>\n<p>The 5G telecom system maker wants to make its strategy more focused and employ a “more rigorous approach to capital allocation.”</p>\n<p>A strategy change is in order. In the last month NOK stock is down 5% to less than $4 per share. Year-to-date the stock is about flat, up just 2%.</p>\n<p>Problems in Its Business Outlook</p>\n<p>The company indicated in its recently released annual report that on March 18 it will announce a new strategy. On page 16 of the report the company said:</p>\n<blockquote>\n ”\n <i>“Rebalancing for Growth” will be replaced with a refreshed corporate strategy. The company never confirmed this. But Nokia’s new CEO Pekka Lundmark told investors when its 2020 results were released, he expected they would lose market share in North America in 2021. In addition, he warned about price decreases.</p>\n<p>The company has already reorganized into four main divisions and spent 2020 cutting costs. This has had significant results. AsI wrote last month, the company reported 1.356 billion EUR ($1.61 billion) in free cash flow for 2020. Most of that came in the second half and over half of it was during Q4.</p>\n<p><b>Lower Sales Forecast</b></p>\n<p>Nevertheless, Nokia says it expects a second year of declining sales,according to the<i>Financial Times</i>, and a “significant decline” in its core mobile networks. Citing the company’s outlook section on page 6 of its Feb. 4 earnings press release, the FT said the company forecasts 21.8 EUR billion in sales vs. 21.9 EUR billion in 2020. However, the actual statementby the company is:</p>\n<blockquote>\n “\n <i>EUR 20.6 billion to EUR 21.8 billion, assuming continuation of 2020 year-end EUR/USD rate of 1.23</i>“\n</blockquote>\n<p>So far this year, the EUR to USD exchange rate has shown dollar strength. It has risen from $1.21 at the beginning of the year to $1.19 now. This means that dollar revenue will translate into higher amounts of euros than forecast. Therefore, it is possible that in 2021 sales will not fall compared to 2020.</p>\n<p>Nevertheless, the new CEO told the FT that “he was willing to sacrifice a little bit of profitability” in order to regain leadership in 5G technology. The FT said there was a logical question why Nokia had not won more 5G accounts, given the U.S.-led campaign against<b>Huawei</b>, its Chinese competitor. Roblox notes that monetization tends to be very seasonal, with more users typically buying digital currency (Robux) and virtual goods over the holiday season.</p>\n<p>In terms of financial results, revenue soared by 82% last year to $923.9 million, while bookings surged 171% to $1.9 billion in 2020. However, Roblox's operating loss roughly doubled to $1.2 billion. The company is investing heavily in research and development as it hires employees and develops new features and functionalities for the platform to drive future growth. Stock-based compensation has also skyrocketed due to aggressive hiring activity -- Roblox hired over 360 full-time employees last year to finish 2020 with 960, with nearly 80% of all workers being engineers and product developers.</p>\n<p>Additionally, Roblox received another bullish vote of confidence from ARK Invest, led by widely followed institutional investor Cathie Wood. ARK has a unique practice of sending out daily emails that disclose what its actively managed ETFs are trading. In this case, <b>ARK Next Generation Internet </b>(NYSEMKT:ARKW) scooped up approximately 520,000 shares on the first day of trading. Vaccine distribution is ramping up faster than expected and more schools are transitioning back to full-time, in-person learning (54% of DAUs are under the age of 13).</p>\n<p>Roblox does not believe the heightened levels will persist, warning: \"We do not expect these activity levels to be sustained, and in future periods we expect growth rates for our revenue to decline, and we may not experience any growth in bookings or our user base during periods where we are comparing against COVID-19 impacted periods.\"</p>\n<p>The company adds: \"Further, as a result of global economic conditions, users may reduce their discretionary spending on Robux, may not renew their subscriptions or may otherwise reduce their usage of our platform, which would adversely impact our revenue and financial condition.\"</p>\n<p>Roblox is already commanding a market cap of nearly $40 billion, which translates into a lofty price-to-sales ratio of over 40. Investors are pricing in considerable growth going forward, and the company has the potential to keep delivering upbeat results even after market conditions normalize, as it has established its brand and platform as a top destination for young gamers.</p>\n<p>Still, the valuation seems a bit excessive considering the post-pandemic uncertainties, and it may take time for Roblox to grow into its market cap.
