Traditional econs points to tech companies (those with huge debt), small and medium caps to flourish well with rate cuts. Given the interesting inverted yield curve, I am actually more interested in how the bonds will move, especially in the med (2-5 years) and long term (10,20,30 years) Exciting times ahead!
$Microsoft(MSFT)$ As someone who have experienced the outrage first-hand, I would very much like to have a short term short position in MSFT and Crowdstrike. A global company of this scale, this is simply unacceptable since it caused some misunderstanding between our partners and us. However, it once again shows how important and how the connectivity ee have gotten used to is impossible it is for us to reverse. We are so dependent on these few companies that something like this could even happen. It can even retard us on a global scale. It's simply mind-boggling. Moreover, Pelosi's moves are important indicators for me to gauge my conviction. she also has knowledge of whats going on, the next moves of the US govt and first mover advantage.
Reflection piece: I naked shorted stocks early in my trading path but realized that I could not stomach it emotionally, cutting losses at the wrong time and re-entering at wrong times again. I didn't lose too much capital (thankfully). I know that I am not cut out for this, feeling the butterflies in the stomach and feelings of dread. so I have been trying to achieved this with limited exposure through GTC orders and options and higher level timeframes so that I remove myself emotionally from the trades. When a stock is volatile, the last thing you want to do is to be right about the direction and wrong about the execution, which I have found myself to be caught in many a time. I wondered very early on in my life, "How can 20% of my salary be able to pay for 100% of my 20-30 years of retirement life with inflation and all?" My answer to that was FIRE. I worked very hard and I saved a lot, so much so that I ate one meal a day and slept about 4 hours daily. I took it to the extreme. Now, about 10 years later, I realize the toil it has taken on my body and mind. I am paying for that now. It didn't go very well either, there were times when I had high ticket impulse purchases from all the curbing of purchases that were always followed by regrets and guilt about how that could have went towards maybe $2 in interest in a year (We had low interest rates last time.) $Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$ In my early working years, I forced myself to invest more than 50% of my income. Internet and investment platforms such as Tiger brokers wasn't available so I went through the banks' ILPs. My idea at that point in time was that I can't touch the money in ILP so it acted as a forced savings for me. I had 3 ILPs with varying maturities and varying amounts. At one point I was investing 1k sgd a month, leaving only 400 for daily expenses. 10 years after I started the ILPs and maturities, I realized that the fees in the ILPs ate up a lot of the returns.
