CDC称，加州和旧金山公共卫生部门证实加州近期出现的一例新冠病例与omicron变异株有关。该病例11月22日从南非返回美国，此前完成了全程疫苗接种。病患出现了轻微症状，目前有所改善，从检测为阳性起就在自我隔离中。所有密切接触者均已联系到，病毒检测皆为阴性。虽然流行病学专家此前就表示美国出现omicron病例不足为奇，但鉴于这种病毒的流行程度，美国首例病例的确诊仍然对人们心理上造成冲击。
