It launched as a Malaysian taxi-hailing service and now calls itself a \"superapp\" after expanding into food, grocery and parcel delivery and to digital payments, lending and other financial services.</p>\n<p>Singapore-headquartered Grab operates across 465 cities in eight countries in the region, counting Indonesia as its biggest. Its venture with Singapore Telecommunications Ltd(STEL.SI)was awarded a digital bank license in Singapore last year.</p>\n<p>Grab gained the global spotlight in 2018 when it bought the Southeast Asian business of Uber Technologies Inc(UBER.N)in return for the U.S. ride-hailing company taking a stake in Grab.</p>\n<p>With some 8,000 employees, Grab has tech centres in Singapore, Beijing, Seattle, Bengaluru and other places.</p>\n<p><b>WHO'S BACKING GRAB? </b></p>\n<p>Early investors include Japan's SoftBank, China's Didi Chuxing and venture capital firms Vertex Ventures Holdings and GGV Capital.</p>\n<p>Grab raised about $12 billion ahead of the listing. Investors range from venture and hedge funds to automobile companies and other ride-hailing firms, and include:</p>\n<p>Uber, Booking Holdings Inc, China Investment Corp, Coatue Management, Hillhouse Capital, Hyundai Motor Co, Invesco Ltd, Microsoft Corp, Ping An Capital Co, Toyota Motor Corp, and Yamaha Motor Co..</p>\n<p>In the SPAC deal, about three dozen investors came on board including Temasek Holdings, BlackRock, Fidelity International, Abu Dhabi's Mubadala and Malaysia's Permodalan Nasional Bhd and Altimeter Capital.</p>\n<p><b>WHO'S THE COMPETITION? </b></p>\n<p>GoTo Group, formed by the merger of Indonesian ride-hailing and deliveries firm Gojek and local e-commerce leader Tokopedia is Grab's biggest competitor.</p>\n<p>Singapore-based Sea Ltd, which has e-commerce, gaming and a digital payments business, and is also muscling into food delivery and financial services in Indonesia. Sea has also won a digital bank license in Singapore.</p>\n<p>Grab is likely to increasingly start competing with banks as it expands its financial services.</p>\n<p>It also competes with such delivery companies as Foodpanda and Deliveroo PLC.</p>\n<p><b>WHAT ARE GRAB'S FINANCIALS?</b></p>\n<p>Grab's third-quarter revenue fell 9% from a year earlier to $157 million. Its adjusted loss before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) widened 66% to $212 million. For&nbsp;<b>The Metals Company</b>(NASDAQ:<b><u>TMC</u></b>), known previously as DeepGreen Metals, that is exactly the case. TMC stock has seen significant volatility since its public debut and this morning’s events indicate that no change is in sight.</p>\n<p>TMC stock began trading on Friday, Sept. 10. It saw a generally good opening day, with share prices moving gradually upward with only slight and periodic downticks. The stock is up 14.5% over the past five days and although it rose by 30% yesterday, today has seen itdeclineby 2.57% as of this writing.</p>\n<p>That said, it is early in the trading day and TMC stock is already rebounding.</p>\n<p>What It Means</p>\n<p>As noted, this type of early trading volatility is not unusual for a SPAC. For a company such as TMC, it is not surprising at all, given the many investors who pulled out of the deal prior to the merger, leaving the company with sufficiently less cash than it had initially boasted upon valuation.</p>\n<p>As SPAC peer&nbsp;<b>Hippo Holdings</b>(NYSE:<b><u>HIPO</u></b>)&nbsp;can&nbsp;attest, having early stage investors pull out close to your debut can easily send shares plunging and make future investors question your long-term sustainability and growth potential.</p>\n<p>Additionally, those who are hesitant to take a bullish perspective on TMC stock have other cause for concern. While the company boasts a business model that sounds promising — mining ocean minerals that are used in battery production — its sustainability-focused marketing has drawn significant skepticism. Specifically, it has led to&nbsp;accusations&nbsp;of greenwashing, aggressively pushing an environmental narrative to distract from the questionable practices happening, quite literally, below the surface. For companies seeking eco-friendly capital, this type of marketing can be difficult to resist.</p>\n<p>What’s Next for TMC Stock?</p>\n<p>There’s no denying that this company is operating in a market with plenty of potential. Battery production is a key component of the red-hot electric vehicle market and the elements that go into it have yielded some companies&nbsp;excellent market results.</p>\n<p>With that in mind, though, there are plenty of reasons for investors to tread carefully when dealing with TMC stock. For The Metals Company(NASDAQ:TMC), known previously as DeepGreen Metals, that is exactly the case. TMC stock has seen significant volatility since its public debut and this morning’s events indicate that no change is in sight.\nTMC stock began trading on Friday, Sept. 10. It saw a generally good opening day, with share prices moving gradually upward with only slight and periodic downticks. Over 300 stocks have more than doubled in 2021. Many of those winning investments will be lucky if they can hold those gains through the final three months of the year, but what about the names that have the potential to double again?</p>\n<p><b>Crocs</b>&nbsp;(NASDAQ:CROX),<b>AMC Entertainment</b>(NYSE:AMC), and<b>Upstart</b>&nbsp;(NASDAQ:UPST)have more than doubled in value through the first nine months of 2021. Let's see why they have what it takes to possibly repeat the feat in the fourth quarter.</p>\n<p>1. Crocs</p>\n<p>Remember those bright rubbery shoes with holes in them? They're back in a big way. Crocs sales are booming since the pandemic began, and the stock is following suit with a 129% increase through the first nine months of 2021.</p>\n<p>The comfortable resin shoes were already making a comeback before the COVID-19 crisis with double-digit revenue growth in 2019 before repeating the feat in 2020. Momentum is what's really taking Crocs to a higher level in 2021.</p>\n<p>The year began with the footwear maker projecting 20%-to-25% top-line growth for the entire year back in February. Guidance was bumped higher -- to between 40% and 50% growth -- the following quarter. It happened again this summer, with Crocs now targeting a 60%-to-65% surge in revenue for all of 2021. What do you think will happen if those targets get pushed even higher when it reports third-quarter results later this month?</p>\n<p>Despite a stock that has popped nearly sixfold since the start of 2019, Crocs is reasonably priced given its accelerating growth. It's trading at 21 times this year's earnings and just 17 times next year's target. There's clearly room to increase those multiples, and Wall Street's finally as comfortable with Crocs as an investment as its customers are in its shoes.</p>\n<p>2. AMC Entertainment</p>\n<p>You may be surprised to find the country's leading multiplex operator on this list, but plot twists are what make movies so good. It's certainly true that AMC Entertainment has appreciated -- in terms of both stock price and a fivefold explosion in shares outstanding -- to the point where its valuation is out of whack relative to its peers'. The sectors most adversely affected by the pandemic have improved in recent months, but the rise in COVID-19 cases has slowed their recovery. Inflation is elevated, largely reflecting transitory factors. Overall financial conditions remain accommodative, in part reflecting policy measures to support the economy and the flow of credit to U.S. households and businesses.\nThe path of the economy continues to depend on the course of the virus. Progress in vaccinations will likely continue to reduce the effects of the public health crisis on the economy, but risks to the economic outlook remain.\nThe Committee seeks to achieve maximum employment and inflation at the rate of 2 percent over the longer run. With inflation having run persistently below this longer-run goal, the Committee will aim to achieve inflation moderately above 2 percent for some time so that inflation averages 2 percent over time and longer‑term inflation expectations remain well anchored at 2 percent. The Committee expects to maintain an accommodative stance of monetary policy until these outcomes are achieved. The Committee decided to keep the target range for the federal funds rate at 0 to 1/4 percent and expects it will be appropriate to maintain this target range until labor market conditions have reached levels consistent with the Committee’s assessments of maximum employment and inflation has risen to 2 percent and is on track to moderately exceed 2 percent for some time.
