All of Wall Street stopped what it was doing to watch the excitement in GameStop(NYSE:GME), BlackBerry(NYSE:BB) and other such meme stocks during their historic January short squeezes.
\n
After Robinhood temporarily suspended trading in GME stock and other meme names, however, it seemed like the party was over. GME stock, for example crashed from $400 to $40 at one point. However, the Reddit traders have had the last laugh. GameStop surged once again in May and this time, it has held onto its gains.
\n
The WallStreetBets community remains a large and powerful force. While there isn’t quite the same buzz as there was in January — and admittedly some of the energy has moved to cryptocurrencies — meme stocks remain a potent force. However, not everything that gets popular on Reddit or has a high short interest will become the next GameStop. In fact, there are quite a few firms that have scarcely little going on to justify their current valuations.
\n
These are seven meme stocks to sell now, while their share prices are still at respectable levels:
\n
\n
Vinco Ventures(NASDAQ:BBIG)
\n
iBio(NYSEAMERICAN:IBIO)
\n
Genius Brands(NASDAQ:GNUS)
\n
XspresSpa Group(NASDAQ:XSPA)
\n
Electrameccanica(NASDAQ:SOLO)
\n
Uranium Energy(NYSEAMERICAN:UEC)
\n
Sphere 3D(NASDAQ:ANY)
\n
\n
Meme Stocks to Sell: Vinco Ventures (BBIG)
\n
Vinco Ventures got one part of the social media playbook right: It has a great ticker symbol. BBIG practically just begs to be “memed.” The Reddit community around the stock is full of clever wordplay for the hot media firm.
\n
As for the actual business? It’s much less promising. The company brings back a key figure from theMoviePass debacleto head up a TikTok rival. It also has an operation devoted to non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Perhaps there is a place for a TikTok clone in a world that is increasingly preoccupied about cybersecurity threats and the Chinese government’s behavior.
\n
Still, given the relative small scale of the video business, investors should be highly skeptical of the stock here. Judging by the CEO’s past experience with MoviePass, there’s a good chance Vinco could burn through a load of investor funds before ignominiously ceasing operations.
\n
iBio (IBIO)
\n
In 2020, IBIO stock spiked from 30 cents to as high as $6 per share. A previously little-known biotech firm, it generated a ton of attention around a potential Covid-19 vaccine. However, historically, iBio has enjoyed similar waves of positive attention from press releases about potential products for other pandemics. However, the company has never managed to convert that potential into real-world revenues or profits.
\n
Covid-19 appears to be playing out the same way for iBio. Despite numerous seeminglypositive developments, the company has little to show for it. The company generated just $3 million in revenues over the past 12 months. More surprisingly, it spent just $7 million on research and development costs over the past year. It seems unlikely that a leading Covid-19 vaccine will be developed on that sort of barebones budget.
\n
While the peak of social media excitement around IBIO stock was back in 2020, trading volume has remained elevated this year. Traders are looking at the 7% short interest in shares and hoping it makes another run-up. However, it seems the market opportunity is passing for Covid-19 biotechs that don’t have a product on the market yet.
\n
And don’t let the low share price fool you. IBIO has a sizable $250 million market capitalization given the company’s serial stock issuances. Shares will likely fall far lower as any residual interest in the company’s early stage Covid projects fade.
\n
Meme Stocks to Sell: Genius Brands (GNUS)
\n
Genius Brands is a fledgling media company attempted to carve out a niche for itself in the children’s entertainment space. The company seemed ideal for a meme stock, as it had a catchy name and is targeting an industry that resonates with a large group of traders.
\n
That said, despite a blizzard of press releases over the past year, Genius has failed to transform any of its potential into financial results. As our Josh Enomoto recently put it,speculation might not save GNUS stock. The company’s (lack of) positive fundamentals is really starting to drag on the company.
\n
In the company’s most recent quarter, it brought in just $1.1 million of revenues. Yes, you read that figure right. Meanwhile, it generated a GAAP loss of 27 cents per share on that quarter. That’s a rather sizable loss for a company whose stock trades south of $2. Genius can keep touting its new shows and celebrity deals, but with quarterly revenues this small, the company is light years away from becoming a media empire.
\n
XpresSpa (XSPA)
\n
XpresSpa is a company focused on airport-based health and wellness centers. Prior to Covid-19, these could be categorized as day spas that helped travelers relax and pass the time between flights. That line of business became untenable due to the pandemic. So the company quickly pivoted to running Covid-19 testing centers out of its airport locations.
\n
In theory, this made a lot of sense. In practice, however, demand for testing services at airports appears to be relatively low. Last quarter, the company generated just $9.1 million in revenues while losing $4.7 million overall. While the pandemic continues to drag on, it seems airport testing simply hasn’t become a large enough market to allow the company to reach profitability.
\n
Meanwhile, it’s unclear on what timeline the company might be able to revert to its prior business model. It should also be noted that the company lost money before the pandemic as well. While momentum traders bid up XSPA stock as a Covid-19 play, the business has shown few signs of tangible success at any point.
\n
A baffling thing about XpresSpa is that it recently announced a 15 million sharestock buyback. In general, share buybacks are good for shareholders. However, typically companies actually generate profits and positive cash flow from operations before buying back their own stock.
\n
XpresSpa, by contrast, has a long history of large operating losses. It has had to issue stock in the past to fund its operations. So it’s unclear why the company would spend precious capital now to repurchase shares rather than invest those funds into helping the business reach profitability. This seems like a gimmick to try to induce a short squeeze rather than a strategic financial decision. In any case, traders shouldn’t get on board with XSPA stock.
\n
Meme Stocks to Sell: Electrameccanica (SOLO)
\n
Electrameccanica was a hot electric vehicle (EV) stock early in 2021. Shares spiked from $3 to as high as $13 on excitement around the launch of its innovative one-seat EV. As the company notes, 80% of vehicle trips are with just one person, so the SOLO vehicle aims to provide everything a single person would need for their daily commute and driving around town.
\n
The car is eye-catching and the concept is certainly different. However, it’s far from certain that much actual consumer demand exists for this product. While most vehicle trips may be without passengers, it’s still useful to have room for more people or cargo on occasion. And SOLO’s price point is too high for most people to buy one in addition to their usual larger vehicle.
\n
Last quarter, the company produced just 25 SOLO vehicles. Its lifetime total of 78 vehicles produced is hardly more inspiring. It wasn’t hard to see the appeal of SOLO stock back when there were few other publicly traded EV stocks. Now, however, as the market is flooded with EV alternatives, a novelty like Electrameccanica has long since lost its appeal.
\n
Uranium Energy (UEC)
\n
Uranium has positively exploded in recent weeks. A popular WallStreetBets post, “Uranium: Start of a Commodity Supercycle”published two weeks ago has taken on viral fame.
\n
That original post has some solid due diligence to it. The author explains the theory of a potential supply shortage in the uranium market for nuclear power plants. It also goes through the mechanics of how a trust that is buying physical uranium could trigger a short squeeze.
\n
That’s all well and good, but it matters little to UEC stock. Uranium Energy is a company that intends to mine uranium in the United States. However, it has largely failed at this. It last generated commercial revenues from uranium production way back in 2015. Now, the company keeps running via stock offerings.
\n
Management’s latest corporate presentation suggests that production may start up again at some point soon. That’s fine. But the company has gone many years now without generating revenues and didn’t produce an annual profit in a single year over the past decade. Now, though, thanks to the uranium short squeeze, UEC stock’s market capitalization has exploded to $750 million. That’s far too high for a company with such a spotty track record.
\n
Meme Stocks to Sell: Sphere 3D (ANY)
\n
Sphere3D is a small long-running technology company. Shares traded up to a split-adjusted $2,000 each at one point back in 2014. The company had merged together a variety of assets and aimed to become a leading virtualization software firm.
\n
Sphere3D reached a peak of $76 million in revenues in 2016. Operations soon collapsed, however, with annual revenues dropping more than 90% since then. The stock price imploded along with the business. So, not surprisingly, Sphere3D is now pivoting.
\n
To that end, Sphere3D is merging with a cryptocurrency mining firm, Gryphon Digital Mining. Gryphon aims to revolutionize the crypto-mining space through a focus on costs. It has secured lower-cost hydroelectric power which could give it a leg up on the competition. However, there are a ton of crypto mining firms out there now.
\n
It’s much too early to say that Sphere 3D and Gryphon will be able to disrupt the existing leaders. And, given Sphere 3D’s unfortunate history, traders should look to take profits on the rare occasions when ANY stock rallies.
","source":"lsy1606302653667","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
7 Meme Stocks to Sell Before They Go to $0
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n7 Meme Stocks to Sell Before They Go to $0\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-09-17 10:29 GMT+8 investorplace\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Social media traders on communities such as Reddit’sr/WallStreetBets have had an amazing 2021. Now, however, as the market is flooded with EV alternatives, a novelty like Electrameccanica has long since lost its appeal.\nUranium Energy (UEC)\nUranium has positively exploded in recent weeks. A popular WallStreetBets post, “Uranium: Start of a Commodity Supercycle”published two weeks ago has taken on viral fame.\nThat original post has some solid due diligence to it. The author explains the theory of a potential supply shortage in the uranium market for nuclear power plants. It also goes through the mechanics of how a trust that is buying physical uranium could trigger a short squeeze.\nThat’s all well and good, but it matters little to UEC stock. Uranium Energy is a company that intends to mine uranium in the United States. However, it has largely failed at this. It last generated commercial revenues from uranium production way back in 2015. Now, the company keeps running via stock offerings.\nManagement’s latest corporate presentation suggests that production may start up again at some point soon. That’s fine. But the company has gone many years now without generating revenues and didn’t produce an annual profit in a single year over the past decade. Now, though, thanks to the uranium short squeeze, UEC stock’s market capitalization has exploded to $750 million. That’s far too high for a company with such a spotty track record.\nMeme Stocks to Sell: Sphere 3D (ANY)\nSphere3D is a small long-running technology company. Shares traded up to a split-adjusted $2,000 each at one point back in 2014. The company had merged together a variety of assets and aimed to become a leading virtualization software firm.\nSphere3D reached a peak of $76 million in revenues in 2016. Operations soon collapsed, however, with annual revenues dropping more than 90% since then. The stock price imploded along with the business. So, not surprisingly, Sphere3D is now pivoting.\nTo that end, Sphere3D is merging with a cryptocurrency mining firm, Gryphon Digital Mining. Gryphon aims to revolutionize the crypto-mining space through a focus on costs. It has secured lower-cost hydroelectric power which could give it a leg up on the competition. However, there are a ton of crypto mining firms out there now.\nIt’s much too early to say that Sphere 3D and Gryphon will be able to disrupt the existing leaders. And, given Sphere 3D’s unfortunate history, traders should look to take profits on the rare occasions when ANY stock rallies.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":37,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":816076840,"gmtCreate":1630458060480,"gmtModify":1631886149213,"author":{"id":"3585175036225831","authorId":"3585175036225831","name":"Ricochet","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/14d3bb96db6f116a294075aacc3330ba","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3585175036225831","authorIdStr":"3585175036225831"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Love this development. (NVDA) reports earnings this week and the shares appear to be priced for perfection.
\n
That said...there are certain stocks that you just don't sell!
\n
NVIDIA certainly falls into that category. If any company deserves a high multiple today, it's certainly NVIDIA. The company has its hands (and chips) in three of the biggest growth segments in technology: Gaming, cryptocurrency, and 5G (not to mention its importance in auto/self-driving!).
\n
In fact, it's a stock that you should probably ADD to your position on any meaningful pullback.
\n
Which makes it a great stock for a cash-secured put strategy. Get paid to set a downside limit order on a stock that you want to buy (or add to) on any dips!
\n
Valuation
\n
As we head into earnings this week, let's take a look at valuation.
\n
High-growth technology companies are always tough to value as they tend to trade at really high (current) multiples based on future growth projections.
\n

\n
Yes, 45.8x forward earnings is a healthy multiple, but if any company deserves a high multiple today, it's certainly NVIDIA (given the importance of its chips in the major growth areas in technology).
\n
NVIDIA's historical sales and EPS growth charts have always been a thing of beauty!
\n

\n
Although some sales were certainly pulled forward during the pandemic, the company is expected to earn $3.95 per share in fiscal 2022 (129% increase over 2021). However, NVDA expects earnings to grow even further in 2023 and 2024 to $4.36 per share (10% growth) and $5.04 per share (16% growth), respectively.Note that NVDA's fiscal year-end is January.
\n
The company's balance sheet also is extremely strong with $12.7 billion of cash/short-term investments and management is producing a great return on invested capital of 23.6%.
\n
The \"N\" in FAANG?
\n
One could argue that NVIDIA should actually replace Netflix (NFLX) as the \"N\" in FAANG.
\n
NVIDIA is currently the 9th largest weighting in the S&P 500 (SPY).
\n
Source: YCharts
\n
And the 8th largest weighting in the Nasdaq 100 (QQQ).
\n
Source: YCharts
\n
Could NVIDIA also be the next addition to the Dow Jones Industrial Average (replacing International Business Machines (IBM) at some point)??
\n
All the more reason to not sell any time soon...
\n
Buy The Dip! (Through Cash-Secured Puts)
\n
Cash-secured puts are a great way to add to your long-term position on a stock that you like.
\n
From a short-term perspective (especially as it's related to selling cash-secured puts), estimating a good \"strike zone\" is key to our analysis. Our strike zone takes into account (1) the stock's volatility, (2) recent performance (i.e., how much has it already pulled back from its recent highs), (3) near-term EPS risk, and (4) the overall volatility of the market (i.e., VIX level).
\n
As shown in the table below, our strike zone for NVIDIA currently is $149.00-$173.00, representing a required minimum margin of safety of 13.0%.
\n
(Source: Option income Advisor)
\n
NVIDIA has historically been a volatile stock (42% Implied Volatility), as highlighted by its low Volatility/Risk rating of 4. However, the stock is in a very strong uptrend (so its Pullback Indicator of 2 also has a negative effect on minimum required margin of safety, which is currently at 13.0%).
\n
NVDA also reports earnings this week, so that will need to be on our radar for the option analysis.
\n
As shown in the chart below, the stock is still in a very strong uptrend with its 50-day moving average (blue line) trading above its 200-day moving average (red line). We now have a few good levels of support to watch:
\n
\n
50-day MA (~$193.00)
\n
Low from July 2021 (~$181.50)
\n
Breakout level from May 2021 (~$161.00)
\n
200-day MA (~$152.50)
\n
\n

\n
There appears to be some decent technical support in our strike zone of $149.00-$173.00, which obviously makes us feel relatively good about selling a cash-secured put around the strike zone if we can.
\n
Cash-Secured Put Analysis (Premium Yield, Margin-of-Safety, Delta)
\n
We primarily trade an income strategy that we call the Triple Income Wheel, which starts with writing cash-secured puts on high-quality stocks that you would like to own at a lower price. We won't go into full detail here, but the diagram below is a good summary of the strategy.
\n

\n
Ideally, when we sell a cash-secured put and start the Triple Income Wheel process, our put is in our \"Strike Zone\" for that stock. In our opinion, that puts the odds of long-term success in our favor.
\n
The three main data points we look at when analyzing a cash-secured put trade are:
\n
\n
Premium Yield% (or Average Monthly Yield%): Measure of expected return on capital assuming that the option expires worthless (out-of-the-money).Assumes that the option is fully cash secured.
\n
Margin-of-Safety %: Measure of downside protection or the percentage that the underlying stock could decline and would still allow you to break even on the option trade.
\n
Delta: A good proxy for the probability that the put option will finish in-the-money.
\n
\n
Note that there is always a negative correlation between Premium Yield and Margin of Safety: The higher the Premium Yield for a given strike month, the lower the Margin of Safety.
\n
An investor should always be honest with themselves about their risk tolerance. The Triple Income Wheel can be adapted to suit your needs.
\n
Now let's look at the cash-secured put analysis for NVIDIA. We're focused on the August monthly contract that expires on 9/17/21.
\n
(Source: Option Income Advisor)
\n
We have highlighted three levels of trades based on various risk profiles: Aggressive (-A-), Base (-B-) and Conservative (-C-).Please listen to the video above for further details.
\n
Ideally, we like to stick with our target levels for our Base portfolio:
\n
\n
Average Monthly Yield % (AMY%): 1.0%-1.5%
\n
Strike price that is in the strike zone (i.e., margin of safety above the required minimum)
\n
Delta < 30
\n
\n
The NVDA Sept 17th $175.00 put option @ ~$1.81 meets all of our criteria with an AMY% of 1.0%, a Margin-of-Safety of 12.3%, and a Delta of 13.
\n
Again, based on your risk tolerance, you could choose a strike price that is more aggressive ($185.00 strike) or more conservative ($170.00 strike) than the base trade.
\n
Downside Considerations
\n
Assuming we sold the NVDA Sept 17th $175.00 strike put option @ $1.81, we would collect $181.00 of premium for each option contract sold. In return for this premium, we agree (and are obligated) to buy 100 shares of NVDA stock for each contract sold at the strike price of $175.00.
\n
If the stock stays above $175.00 between now and expiration (9/17/21), the option expires worthless and we keep the premium of $1.81.
\n
However, the downside of this trade comes into play if the stock closes below $175.00 on expiration (9/17/21). (NVDA) reports earnings this week and the shares appear to be priced for perfection.\nThat said...there are certain stocks that you just don't sell!\nNVIDIA certainly falls into that category. If any company deserves a high multiple today, it's certainly NVIDIA. The company has its hands (and chips) in three of the biggest growth segments in technology: Gaming, cryptocurrency, and 5G (not to mention its importance in auto/self-driving!).\nIn fact, it's a stock that you should probably ADD to your position on any meaningful pullback.\nWhich makes it a great stock for a cash-secured put strategy. Get paid to set a downside limit order on a stock that you want to buy (or add to) on any dips!\nValuation\nAs we head into earnings this week, let's take a look at valuation.\nHigh-growth technology companies are always tough to value as they tend to trade at really high (current) multiples based on future growth projections.\n\nYes, 45.8x forward earnings is a healthy multiple, but if any company deserves a high multiple today, it's certainly NVIDIA (given the importance of its chips in the major growth areas in technology).\nNVIDIA's historical sales and EPS growth charts have always been a thing of beauty!\n\nAlthough some sales were certainly pulled forward during the pandemic, the company is expected to earn $3.95 per share in fiscal 2022 (129% increase over 2021). However, NVDA expects earnings to grow even further in 2023 and 2024 to $4.36 per share (10% growth) and $5.04 per share (16% growth), respectively.Note that NVDA's fiscal year-end is January.\nThe company's balance sheet also is extremely strong with $12.7 billion of cash/short-term investments and management is producing a great return on invested capital of 23.6%.\nThe \"N\" in FAANG?\nOne could argue that NVIDIA should actually replace Netflix (NFLX) as the \"N\" in FAANG.\nNVIDIA is currently the 9th largest weighting in the S&P 500 (SPY).\nSource: YCharts\nAnd the 8th largest weighting in the Nasdaq 100 (QQQ).\nSource: YCharts\nCould NVIDIA also be the next addition to the Dow Jones Industrial Average (replacing International Business Machines (IBM) at some point)??\nAll the more reason to not sell any time soon...\nBuy The Dip! (Through Cash-Secured Puts)\nCash-secured puts are a great way to add to your long-term position on a stock that you like.\nFrom a short-term perspective (especially as it's related to selling cash-secured puts), estimating a good \"strike zone\" is key to our analysis. Our strike zone takes into account (1) the stock's volatility, (2) recent performance (i.e., how much has it already pulled back from its recent highs), (3) near-term EPS risk, and (4) the overall volatility of the market (i.e., VIX level).\nAs shown in the table below, our strike zone for NVIDIA currently is $149.00-$173.00, representing a required minimum margin of safety of 13.0%.\n(Source: Option income Advisor)\nNVIDIA has historically been a volatile stock (42% Implied Volatility), as highlighted by its low Volatility/Risk rating of 4. However, the stock is in a very strong uptrend (so its Pullback Indicator of 2 also has a negative effect on minimum required margin of safety, which is currently at 13.0%).\nNVDA also reports earnings this week, so that will need to be on our radar for the option analysis.\nAs shown in the chart below, the stock is still in a very strong uptrend with its 50-day moving average (blue line) trading above its 200-day moving average (red line). We now have a few good levels of support to watch:\n\n50-day MA (~$193.00)\nLow from July 2021 (~$181.50)\nBreakout level from May 2021 (~$161.00)\n200-day MA (~$152.50)\n\n\nThere appears to be some decent technical support in our strike zone of $149.00-$173.00, which obviously makes us feel relatively good about selling a cash-secured put around the strike zone if we can.\nCash-Secured Put Analysis (Premium Yield, Margin-of-Safety, Delta)\nWe primarily trade an income strategy that we call the Triple Income Wheel, which starts with writing cash-secured puts on high-quality stocks that you would like to own at a lower price. We won't go into full detail here, but the diagram below is a good summary of the strategy.\n\nIdeally, when we sell a cash-secured put and start the Triple Income Wheel process, our put is in our \"Strike Zone\" for that stock. In our opinion, that puts the odds of long-term success in our favor.\nThe three main data points we look at when analyzing a cash-secured put trade are:\n\nPremium Yield% (or Average Monthly Yield%): Measure of expected return on capital assuming that the option expires worthless (out-of-the-money).Assumes that the option is fully cash secured.\nMargin-of-Safety %: Measure of downside protection or the percentage that the underlying stock could decline and would still allow you to break even on the option trade.\nDelta: A good proxy for the probability that the put option will finish in-the-money.\n\nNote that there is always a negative correlation between Premium Yield and Margin of Safety: The higher the Premium Yield for a given strike month, the lower the Margin of Safety.\nAn investor should always be honest with themselves about their risk tolerance. The Triple Income Wheel can be adapted to suit your needs.\nNow let's look at the cash-secured put analysis for NVIDIA. We're focused on the August monthly contract that expires on 9/17/21.\n(Source: Option Income Advisor)\nWe have highlighted three levels of trades based on various risk profiles: Aggressive (-A-), Base (-B-) and Conservative (-C-).Please listen to the video above for further details.\nIdeally, we like to stick with our target levels for our Base portfolio:\n\nAverage Monthly Yield % (AMY%): 1.0%-1.5%\nStrike price that is in the strike zone (i.e., margin of safety above the required minimum)\nDelta < 30\n\nThe NVDA Sept 17th $175.00 put option @ ~$1.81 meets all of our criteria with an AMY% of 1.0%, a Margin-of-Safety of 12.3%, and a Delta of 13.\nAgain, based on your risk tolerance, you could choose a strike price that is more aggressive ($185.00 strike) or more conservative ($170.00 strike) than the base trade.\nDownside Considerations\nAssuming we sold the NVDA Sept 17th $175.00 strike put option @ $1.81, we would collect $181.00 of premium for each option contract sold. In return for this premium, we agree (and are obligated) to buy 100 shares of NVDA stock for each contract sold at the strike price of $175.00.\nIf the stock stays above $175.00 between now and expiration (9/17/21), the option expires worthless and we keep the premium of $1.81.\nHowever,the downside of this trade comes into play if the stock closes below $175.00 on expiration (9/17/21). Since we're obligated to buy the stock at $175.00, we would have a potential unrealized capital loss on our hands (depending on how low the stock closed on expiration). We do get to keep the premium either way though, so our breakeven cost basis would be $173.19 ($175.00 - $1.81).\nAll that said, I think it's a win-win at this point if you can add to your NVDA position with a cost basis of $173.19.\nConclusion\nBased on our long-term and short-term views on NVIDIA, we believe that a cash-secured put strategy makes a lot of sense right now for investors interested adding to their position (or starting a new position). The NVDA Sept 17th $175.00 put option would generate an average monthly yield of 1.0% (or 1.0% over the next 31 days) with a margin-of-safety of 12.3%.\nAssuming you could continue to roll this position every 45-60 days with similar risk/reward parameters, you could manufacture 12%-plus annualized income from NVIDIA over the next 12 months (while you patiently wait to add to your position).","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":135,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":141978908,"gmtCreate":1625836991404,"gmtModify":1631890222716,"author":{"id":"3585175036225831","authorId":"3585175036225831","name":"Ricochet","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/14d3bb96db6f116a294075aacc3330ba","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3585175036225831","authorIdStr":"3585175036225831"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Looking forward to some upswing","listText":"Looking forward to some upswing","text":"Looking forward to some upswing","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/141978908","repostId":"1130525336","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":117,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":873463651,"gmtCreate":1636977812592,"gmtModify":1636977812683,"author":{"id":"3585175036225831","authorId":"3585175036225831","name":"Ricochet","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/14d3bb96db6f116a294075aacc3330ba","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3585175036225831","authorIdStr":"3585175036225831"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Lucid Group Inc(LCID)$ MotorTrend announced today that the Lucid Air has won the 2022 MotorTrend Car of the Year, the first instance in which the initial product from a new automotive brand has been awarded the \"Golden Calipers.\"","listText":"$Lucid Group Inc(LCID)$ MotorTrend announced today that the Lucid Air has won the 2022 MotorTrend Car of the Year, the first instance in which the initial product from a new automotive brand has been awarded the \"Golden Calipers.\"","text":"$Lucid Group Inc(LCID)$ MotorTrend announced today that the Lucid Air has won the 2022 MotorTrend Car of the Year, the first instance in which the initial product from a new automotive brand has been awarded the \"Golden Calipers.\"","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/873463651","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":840,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":802076373,"gmtCreate":1627702902092,"gmtModify":1631883895688,"author":{"id":"3585175036225831","authorId":"3585175036225831","name":"Ricochet","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/14d3bb96db6f116a294075aacc3330ba","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3585175036225831","authorIdStr":"3585175036225831"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"One reason for the lacklustre response is becauseHood upset many users in February","listText":"One reason for the lacklustre response is becauseHood upset many users in February","text":"One reason for the lacklustre response is becauseHood upset many users in February","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/802076373","repostId":"1152039134","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1152039134","pubTimestamp":1627689014,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1152039134?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-07-31 07:50","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Jim Cramer: Robinhood's IPO Debacle Shows How Little Has Changed Over the Decades","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1152039134","media":"The Street","summary":"Take it from a guy who knows, the process is really flawed.\n\nWhat should Robinhood (HOOD) -Get Repor","content":"
\n Take it from a guy who knows, the process is really flawed.\n
\n
What should Robinhood (HOOD) -Get Report have done to avoid the IPO debacle?
\n
I can't speak to what happened on Thursday, who was in charge, who argued for what.
\n
I can only tell you what I argued for 22 years ago whenTheStreet.comwas coming public. First, as the founder, I was determined to award all the subscribers with stock to demonstrate my loyalty to them.
\n
Second, I was insistent that the deal be priced much lower than the underwriters wanted. We had already made a ton of money for initial investors. Why not leave a lot on the table and let the new investors do well?
\n
Third, I wanted enough stock placed with good hands that there would be no flippers and I wanted close coordination with the various brokers who tended to infiltrate the process and hijack the openings by batching market orders and opening the stocks way too high and then shorting them all the way down.
\n
I lost on every single point.
\n
The underwriters said we could not allocate to subscribers.
\n
Second, the price of the deal would not be controlled to where we could have a small pop so everyone would win.
\n
Third, the over-the-transom orders, those who placed market orders, were batched by an outfit called Knight Securities, not the underwriter, Goldman Sachs, and it opened at $62 -- it wasn't even clear what the opening price was it was so chaotic -- traded to $66, like how Robinhood traded to $39 and change, and then never traded higher.
\n
Everyone who bought that day lost money.
\n
Everyone who sold that day made money.
\n
No subscribers got in, most bought at the opening, from what I can tell, and I alienated everyone except the big dogs.
\n
It is amazing that here we are in 2021 and the process, while letting clients in, failed to price it so that Robinhood left money on the table. Believe me, it was possible to do so. But the underwriters and the management chose not to do so. We don't know which side screwed up, or both, but there was a successful blueprint; believe me, if I knew what it was in 1999, they knew what it is now.
\n
I always regretted what happened. Most people blamed me as I was the face of the process. I was astounded by how horrendous it was and did not \"take the long view\" because the long view sucked.
\n
Why do these things go wrong? I do blame the underwriter because they do this every day and the principals only do it once. They have to keep the management from betraying the shareholders because the shareholders think that it is management's fault. No underwriter is EVER going to say that they screwed up. That's not in the cards.
\n
So, we sit back and we marvel about how badly the deal went even as it was well within the province of the underwriter and the principals to make it so Robinhood left more on the table.
\n
Greed?
\n
Stupidity?
\n
How about poor execution and a lack of transparency that shows how badly it was handled.
\n
Just like the offering ofTheStreet.com.
","source":"lsy1610613172068","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Jim Cramer: Robinhood's IPO Debacle Shows How Little Has Changed Over the Decades
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nJim Cramer: Robinhood's IPO Debacle Shows How Little Has Changed Over the Decades\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-07-31 07:50 GMT+8 The Street\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Take it from a guy who knows, the process is really flawed.\n\nWhat should Robinhood (HOOD) -Get Report have done to avoid the IPO debacle?\nI can't speak to what happened on Thursday, who was in charge,...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"HOOD":"Robinhood"},"source_url":"https://www.thestreet.com/investing/cramer-robinhood-ipo-debacle-thestreet-7-30-21","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1152039134","content_text":"Take it from a guy who knows, the process is really flawed.\n\nWhat should Robinhood (HOOD) -Get Report have done to avoid the IPO debacle?\nI can't speak to what happened on Thursday, who was in charge, who argued for what.\nI can only tell you what I argued for 22 years ago whenTheStreet.comwas coming public. Why not leave a lot on the table and let the new investors do well?\nThird, I wanted enough stock placed with good hands that there would be no flippers and I wanted close coordination with the various brokers who tended to infiltrate the process and hijack the openings by batching market orders and opening the stocks way too high and then shorting them all the way down.\nI lost on every single point.\nThe underwriters said we could not allocate to subscribers.\nSecond, the price of the deal would not be controlled to where we could have a small pop so everyone would win.\nThird, the over-the-transom orders, those who placed market orders, were batched by an outfit called Knight Securities, not the underwriter, Goldman Sachs, and it opened at $62 -- it wasn't even clear what the opening price was it was so chaotic -- traded to $66, like how Robinhood traded to $39 and change, and then never traded higher.\nEveryone who bought that day lost money.\nEveryone who sold that day made money.\nNo subscribers got in, most bought at the opening, from what I can tell, and I alienated everyone except the big dogs.\nIt is amazing that here we are in 2021 and the process, while letting clients in, failed to price it so that Robinhood left money on the table. Believe me, it was possible to do so. But the underwriters and the management chose not to do so. We don't know which side screwed up, or both, but there was a successful blueprint; believe me, if I knew what it was in 1999, they knew what it is now.\nI always regretted what happened. Most people blamed me as I was the face of the process. I was astounded by how horrendous it was and did not \"take the long view\" because the long view sucked.\nWhy do these things go wrong? I do blame the underwriter because they do this every day and the principals only do it once. They have to keep the management from betraying the shareholders because the shareholders think that it is management's fault. No underwriter is EVER going to say that they screwed up. That's not in the cards.\nSo, we sit back and we marvel about how badly the deal went even as it was well within the province of the underwriter and the principals to make it so Robinhood left more on the table.\nGreed?\nStupidity?\nHow about poor execution and a lack of transparency that shows how badly it was handled.\nJust like the offering ofTheStreet.com.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":14,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":170658516,"gmtCreate":1626429148735,"gmtModify":1631890222700,"author":{"id":"3585175036225831","authorId":"3585175036225831","name":"Ricochet","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/14d3bb96db6f116a294075aacc3330ba","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3585175036225831","authorIdStr":"3585175036225831"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$wonder if stock split next week will have effect","listText":"$NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$wonder if stock split next week will have effect","text":"$NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$wonder if stock split next week will have effect","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/170658516","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":122,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":141364107,"gmtCreate":1625839394609,"gmtModify":1631886477340,"author":{"id":"3585175036225831","authorId":"3585175036225831","name":"Ricochet","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/14d3bb96db6f116a294075aacc3330ba","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3585175036225831","authorIdStr":"3585175036225831"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Naked Brand(NAKD)$ why does it keep sliding?","listText":"$Naked Brand(NAKD)$ why does it keep sliding?","text":"$Naked Brand(NAKD)$ why does it keep sliding?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/141364107","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":776,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":126935221,"gmtCreate":1624541836163,"gmtModify":1634004673803,"author":{"id":"3585175036225831","authorId":"3585175036225831","name":"Ricochet","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/14d3bb96db6f116a294075aacc3330ba","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3585175036225831","authorIdStr":"3585175036225831"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Hurray!!!","listText":"Hurray!!!","text":"Hurray!!!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/126935221","repostId":"1167326019","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1167326019","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1624541460,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1167326019?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-24 21:31","market":"us","language":"en","title":"S&P 500 rises to retake record at the open, wiping out last week’s Fed swoon","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1167326019","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"(June 24) The S&P 500 climbed on Thursday, surpassing its record high set a week ago as the market f","content":"
(June 24) The S&P 500 climbed on Thursday, surpassing its record high set a week ago as the market fully recovered losses triggered by the Federal Reserve’s surprise policy pivot.
\n
The broad equity benchmark rose 0.5% to hit an all-time high, retaking its previous record on June 14. in Ark Investment Management, says that there's no reason to fear that the market is becoming too bubblicious.\nAs the Ark founder puts it: \"I don't think we're in a bubble which is what I think many Investors?","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2156103529","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Relax -- this surprising announcement is not the end of Micron's growth ambitions.","content":"
Memory-chip maker Micron Technology (NASDAQ:MU) just announced a quarterly dividend policy. The payouts are starting out small, but I expect the company to build up its dividend yield over time. Let's see what Micron's payouts will mean to us shareholders.
\n
What's new?
\n
Micron declared a quarterly dividend of $0.10 per share on Monday evening. The first payout will arrive on Oct. 18, payable to shareholders of record as of Oct. 1.
\n
Assuming that the next three payouts will hold steady at this level, that works out to a 0.5% annualized yield at current share prices. Micron will spend approximately $115 million on dividend checks in the third quarter, or $460 million in the first year.
\n

\n
\n
The company will finance this policy directly from its free cash flows, which added up to $1.5 billion in the recently reported third quarter. Furthermore, Micron boosted its capital expense budget on the back of strong third-quarter results. We are looking at the start of a whole new era in Micron's cash management strategy.
\n
Micron's credit ratings have been parked in investment-grade territory since memory chip prices firmed up in 2018. Credit rating firms tipped their hats to management's ambitious capital allocation plans. The dividend policy will stress Micron's finances, but strong market trends should keep the payout budget well within the company's cash flow coverage.
\n
What's the big idea?
\n
Solid unit pricing and growing demand for memory chips have turned Micron into a cash machine in recent years. That's why the company is revamping its cash management policies.
\n
Buybacks make a lot of sense when Micron's stock trades at bargain-bin valuations, as it often did between 2014 and 2019. Market makers have finally caught on to the fact that the memory chip sector isn't teetering on the edge of another massive oversupply situation, so the price-to-earnings ratio has stabilized at a more reasonable double-digit level. Under these circumstances, dividends can be a better tool for returning excess cash to shareholders.
\n

\n
\n
What's next?
\n
CFO David Zinsner said that the payouts will rise over time, but Micron's \"first and foremost\" tool for cash returns to shareholders will be an opportunistic buyback strategy.
\n
The sudden appearance of dividend checks might make you wonder what's wrong with Micron's growth plans. A healthy tech company should be able to reinvest its cash flows into growth-boosting innovations rather than sending out cash checks to its investors, right? As it turns out, you really can have it both ways.
\n
Tech giant Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) raised some eyebrows when it started up a dividend policy in 2012, less than five years into the age of iPhone-based growth. At the same time, Cupertino's effective dividend yield started out at just 0.4%, below Micron's starting yield. Was that the end of Apple's growth ambitions? You be the judge:
\n

\n
AAPL Revenue (TTM) data by YCharts
\n
I'm not saying Micron is the second coming of Apple. The payouts are starting out small, but I expect the company to build up its dividend yield over time. Let's see what Micron's payouts will mean to us shareholders.\nWhat's new?\nMicron declared a quarterly dividend of $0.10 per share on Monday evening. The first payout will arrive on Oct. 18, payable to shareholders of record as of Oct. 1.\nAssuming that the next three payouts will hold steady at this level, that works out to a 0.5% annualized yield at current share prices. Micron will spend approximately $115 million on dividend checks in the third quarter, or $460 million in the first year.\n\nImage source: Getty Images.\nThe company will finance this policy directly from its free cash flows, which added up to $1.5 billion in the recently reported third quarter. Furthermore, Micron boosted its capital expense budget on the back of strong third-quarter results. We are looking at the start of a whole new era in Micron's cash management strategy.\nMicron's credit ratings have been parked in investment-grade territory since memory chip prices firmed up in 2018. Credit rating firms tipped their hats to management's ambitious capital allocation plans. The dividend policy will stress Micron's finances, but strong market trends should keep the payout budget well within the company's cash flow coverage.\nWhat's the big idea?\nSolid unit pricing and growing demand for memory chips have turned Micron into a cash machine in recent years. That's why the company is revamping its cash management policies.\nBuybacks make a lot of sense when Micron's stock trades at bargain-bin valuations, as it often did between 2014 and 2019. Market makers have finally caught on to the fact that the memory chip sector isn't teetering on the edge of another massive oversupply situation, so the price-to-earnings ratio has stabilized at a more reasonable double-digit level. Under these circumstances, dividends can be a better tool for returning excess cash to shareholders.\n\nImage source: Getty Images.\nWhat's next?\nCFO David Zinsner said that the payouts will rise over time, but Micron's \"first and foremost\" tool for cash returns to shareholders will be an opportunistic buyback strategy.\nThe sudden appearance of dividend checks might make you wonder what's wrong with Micron's growth plans. A healthy tech company should be able to reinvest its cash flows into growth-boosting innovations rather than sending out cash checks to its investors, right? As it turns out, you really can have it both ways.\nTech giant Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) raised some eyebrows when it started up a dividend policy in 2012, less than five years into the age of iPhone-based growth. At the same time, Cupertino's effective dividend yield started out at just 0.4%, below Micron's starting yield. Was that the end of Apple's growth ambitions? You be the judge:\n\nAAPL Revenue (TTM) data by YCharts\nI'm not saying Micron is the second coming of Apple. The takeaway here is that Micron can send out dividend checks while also exploring healthy business growth, even in the ultra-competitive semiconductor sector. All told, this unexpected announcement looks like another handy tool in Micron's financial tool belt.
