market crash is inevitable. Prepare while you can.","content":"
The market will crash again. That is inevitable. The only real question is when will it happen?
\n
Let's be clear: there are lots of reasons to believe the market could crash soon. Skyrocketing inflation , stretched valuations , and a critical labor shortage each could pose risks to the market on their own. Put them all together in a situation like we have today, and the danger certainly seems to multiply.
\n
Just because the market could crash soon doesn't mean it will, however. If it somehow manages to keep climbing, would you really want to be sitting on the sidelines, watching the purchasing power of your money evaporate to inflation?
\n
That combination of factors makes now one of the toughest times in most of our investing lifetimes to know what the best course of action should be. That might actually mean that there is no single best path forward and that the right approach could be to build a balance across the five options discussed here.
\n
No. 1: Get out of (expensive) debt
\n
If the market's massive run has left you in the position where you could pay off your debts, maybe that provides a good opportunity to actually do so. If not your entire debt burden, perhaps you could pay off everything but your fixed-rate, low interest mortgage?
\n
It might seem crazy to pay off debt when interest rates are so low and the market has seen such huge recent rises, but that could very well be the best time to do so. After all, if interest rates rise, that could both increase your debt service costs and cause at least some of your stocks to drop, catching you with a double-whammy. When you add in the fact your debt service costs need to be paid even if your stocks are way down, you get a situation where reducing or eliminating debt looks like a smart move.
\n
No. 2: Build a cash buffer
\n
In a world where inflation is running over 6%, having a lot of cash sitting around earning less than 1% might seem crazy. When viewed only on that basis, it is. When you recognize that market crashes and job losses often go hand in hand, having a decent cash buffer can be viewed as an insurance policy. At least for a little while, it can keep you from being forced to sell at the low due to lost income and buy you time to find alternatives.
\n
That said, with inflation running as hot as it is and cash returns failing to keep up, it might not be a good idea to hold too much cash. As a result, consider the standard guidance of three-to-six months' worth of basic living expenses as a reasonable \"goldilocks\" target.
\n
No. 3: Plan for the big expenses coming your way soon
\n
As a general rule, money you expect to spend within the next five years does not belong in stocks. If you have a big purchase coming up in that time window -- say a new car, a child's college education, or a bucket list vacation -- a market sitting near all-time highs can give you a great opportunity to sell.
\n
It's OK to sell enough stock to cover the costs of what you're buying in that window and any taxes you'll owe on your stock sale. Then, put the remaining money in something like a CD or Treasury or investment grade bonds that mature just before you'll need the money.
\n
No, you won't make stupendously high returns on that money, but you will also sleep more soundly knowing that a mere market crash won't automatically derail your near-term plans for that cash.
\n
No. 4: Know a decent estimate of the value of what you own
\n
Ultimately, stocks are nothing more than fractional ownership stakes in companies. Yes, their market prices can rise or fall a whole bunch in a very short period of time, but in the long run, stocks are tied to the cash generating capability of the businesses behind those shares.
\n
Using the discounted cash flow model and reasonable projections for the future of the company, you can estimate what that fair value would be. You can easily adjust your assumptions for a more aggressive growth future or a more pessimistic one as well, to get a feel for a range of potential values. You can then compare your model with the market's price and use that to inform your buy, sell, or hold decisions.
\n
If a company you own is priced so high by the market that even your most aggressive estimates for its future can't keep up, then it might be a good idea to sell it. On the flip side, if a company you own is available for such a dirt cheap price that even your pessimistic estimate is above the market's price for it, you might want to consider buying even more.
\n
The beauty of the discounted cash flow model is that it can help you make those buy/sell/hold decisions regardless of what the overall market is doing. As a result, it can help you both prepare for a crash by figuring out which companies to consider selling and invest through a crash by figuring out which ones are the biggest bargains worthy of buying.
\n
No. 5: Invest with the long term in mind
\n
With the first three options, you've taken great steps to protect yourself against many of the short term disruptions that can come from market crashes. With the fourth option, you've given yourself a tool to make smarter investing decisions around the time of a crash. Together, they free you up to truly have a long-term perspective when you invest in stocks.
\n
That long-term perspective is important because it provides the foundation of the biggest advantage you have against Wall Street: your patience. With a long-term perspective, the rest of your financial house in order, and decent valuations at your disposal, you can stay invested during and after a crash. That is absolutely key to being invested during any subsequent recovery, which is where the next round of wealth can be built.
\n
Get ready now for the next crash
\n
None of us really know when the next stock market crash will happen, but we can be pretty sure that there will be another one headed our way. With the market near all-time highs and so many very clear economic risks in front of us, now could be a great time to make the adjustments you need to get prepared for that crash.
\n
By balancing the tools you need to survive the next crash with a long term perspective for the money you're able to keep invested, you can be prepared no matter when that crash takes place. That is inevitable. The only real question is when will it happen?\nLet's be clear: there are lots of reasons to believe the market could crash soon. Skyrocketing inflation , stretched valuations , and a critical labor shortage each could pose risks to the market on their own. Put them all together in a situation like we have today, and the danger certainly seems to multiply.\nJust because the market could crash soon doesn't mean it will, however. If it somehow manages to keep climbing, would you really want to be sitting on the sidelines, watching the purchasing power of your money evaporate to inflation?\nThat combination of factors makes now one of the toughest times in most of our investing lifetimes to know what the best course of action should be. That might actually mean that there is no single best path forward and that the right approach could be to build a balance across the five options discussed here.\nNo. 1: Get out of (expensive) debt\nIf the market's massive run has left you in the position where you could pay off your debts, maybe that provides a good opportunity to actually do so. If not your entire debt burden, perhaps you could pay off everything but your fixed-rate, low interest mortgage?\nIt might seem crazy to pay off debt when interest rates are so low and the market has seen such huge recent rises, but that could very well be the best time to do so. After all, if interest rates rise, that could both increase your debt service costs and cause at least some of your stocks to drop, catching you with a double-whammy. When you add in the fact your debt service costs need to be paid even if your stocks are way down, you get a situation where reducing or eliminating debt looks like a smart move.\nNo. 2: Build a cash buffer\nIn a world where inflation is running over 6%, having a lot of cash sitting around earning less than 1% might seem crazy. When viewed only on that basis, it is. When you recognize that market crashes and job losses often go hand in hand, having a decent cash buffer can be viewed as an insurance policy. At least for a little while, it can keep you from being forced to sell at the low due to lost income and buy you time to find alternatives.\nThat said, with inflation running as hot as it is and cash returns failing to keep up, it might not be a good idea to hold too much cash. As a result, consider the standard guidance of three-to-six months' worth of basic living expenses as a reasonable \"goldilocks\" target.\nNo. 3: Plan for the big expenses coming your way soon\nAs a general rule, money you expect to spend within the next five years does not belong in stocks. If you have a big purchase coming up in that time window -- say a new car, a child's college education, or a bucket list vacation -- a market sitting near all-time highs can give you a great opportunity to sell.\nIt's OK to sell enough stock to cover the costs of what you're buying in that window and any taxes you'll owe on your stock sale. Then, put the remaining money in something like a CD or Treasury or investment grade bonds that mature just before you'll need the money.\nNo, you won't make stupendously high returns on that money, but you will also sleep more soundly knowing that a mere market crash won't automatically derail your near-term plans for that cash.\nNo. 4: Know a decent estimate of the value of what you own\nUltimately, stocks are nothing more than fractional ownership stakes in companies. Yes, their market prices can rise or fall a whole bunch in a very short period of time, but in the long run, stocks are tied to the cash generating capability of the businesses behind those shares.\nUsing the discounted cash flow model and reasonable projections for the future of the company, you can estimate what that fair value would be. You can easily adjust your assumptions for a more aggressive growth future or a more pessimistic one as well, to get a feel for a range of potential values. You can then compare your model with the market's price and use that to inform your buy, sell, or hold decisions.\nIf a company you own is priced so high by the market that even your most aggressive estimates for its future can't keep up, then it might be a good idea to sell it. On the flip side, if a company you own is available for such a dirt cheap price that even your pessimistic estimate is above the market's price for it, you might want to consider buying even more.\nThe beauty of the discounted cash flow model is that it can help you make those buy/sell/hold decisions regardless of what the overall market is doing. As a result, it can help you both prepare for a crash by figuring out which companies to consider selling and invest through a crash by figuring out which ones are the biggest bargains worthy of buying.\nNo. 5: Invest with the long term in mind\nWith the first three options, you've taken great steps to protect yourself against many of the short term disruptions that can come from market crashes. With the fourth option, you've given yourself a tool to make smarter investing decisions around the time of a crash. Together, they free you up to truly have a long-term perspective when you invest in stocks.\nThat long-term perspective is important because it provides the foundation of the biggest advantage you have against Wall Street: your patience. With a long-term perspective, the rest of your financial house in order, and decent valuations at your disposal, you can stay invested during and after a crash. That is absolutely key to being invested during any subsequent recovery, which is where the next round of wealth can be built.\nGet ready now for the next crash\nNone of us really know when the next stock market crash will happen, but we can be pretty sure that there will be another one headed our way. With the market near all-time highs and so many very clear economic risks in front of us, now could be a great time to make the adjustments you need to get prepared for that crash.\nBy balancing the tools you need to survive the next crash with a long term perspective for the money you're able to keep invested, you can be prepared no matter when that crash takes place. Get yourself ready now, and you will have the advantage of being ready before it happens, rather than trying to clean up after the fact.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":396,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":872095778,"gmtCreate":1637372738723,"gmtModify":1637372747775,"author":{"id":"3584030980368168","authorId":"3584030980368168","name":"paperhandler","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/612af881d0a9c92f4b2c94b453ceca08","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$all good [666] ","listText":"$NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$all good [666] ","text":"$NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$all good [666]","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/0c6e6f29d508304c306fa044e716eb0d","width":"1170","height":"2532"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/872095778","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":340,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":876594192,"gmtCreate":1637329614900,"gmtModify":1637329615210,"author":{"id":"3584030980368168","authorId":"3584030980368168","name":"paperhandler","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/612af881d0a9c92f4b2c94b453ceca08","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"this is bullish","listText":"this is bullish","text":"this is bullish","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/876594192","repostId":"1138047553","repostType":2,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":338,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":876938381,"gmtCreate":1637248194458,"gmtModify":1637248194601,"author":{"id":"3584030980368168","authorId":"3584030980368168","name":"paperhandler","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/612af881d0a9c92f4b2c94b453ceca08","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$🚨400🚨","listText":"$NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$🚨400🚨","text":"$NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$🚨400🚨","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/cfef9da309d6f768987d7ef078978f79","width":"1170","height":"2532"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/876938381","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":357,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":871901452,"gmtCreate":1637016396022,"gmtModify":1637016400116,"author":{"id":"3584030980368168","authorId":"3584030980368168","name":"paperhandler","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/612af881d0a9c92f4b2c94b453ceca08","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$let’s go! So as the saying goes: If you can’t beat them, join ’em.
\n
A lack of chips has led to shortages of products ranging from electronics and computers to cars and higher prices. However, on balance, the chip shortage hasn’t hurt the semiconductor sector. The iShares Semiconductor exchange-traded fund (SOXX) is up about 18% year to date, in line with comparable gains of the S&P 500.
\n
The sector has kept up even as shares of the largest companies in the ETF— Intel (INTC) and Broadcom (AVGO)—have underperformed. That pair is up about 9% and 14% year to date, respectively, lagging behind the industry and broader market.
\n
The shortage isn’t going away soon. Only Monday, auto parts supplier Aptiv (APTV) cut sales and earnings guidance for 2021. About 3 million cars that were expected to be built and sold aren’t going to roll off assembly lines because of a lack of chips, the company said.
\n
Investors can make the persisting shortage work for their portfolios by looking at Wall Street’s favorite chip-sector stocks. There are 14 stocks in the chip sector with above-average Buy-rating ratios and are trading with at least 30% upside compared with their average analyst target price.
\n
The 14 stocks, listed by descending order of upside, are: specialty gas services provider Ultra Clean (ticker: UCTT), wafer equipment makers FormFactor (FORM), processing materials company CMC Materials (CCMP), chip designer Cirrus Logic (CRUS), equipment maker MKS Instruments (MKSI), light-emitting diode technology company Universal Display (OLED), semi-test company ASE Technology (ASX), memory maker Micron Technology (MU), mobile chip giant Qualcomm (QCOM), semi test and robot equipment maker Teradyne (TER), chip fabrication giant Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSM), mobile chip makers Skyworks Solutions (SWKS),Qorvo (QRVO), and equipment maker Lam Research (LRCX).
\n
Chips With Upside
\n
The majority of analysts have Buy ratings on these chip stocks---and think shares can climb at least 30%.
\n
Source: Bloomberg
\n
The average Buy-rating ratio for the 14 stocks is about 75%. So as the saying goes: If you can’t beat them, join ’em.\nA lack of chips has led to shortages of products ranging from electronics and computers to cars and higher prices. However, on balance, the chip shortage hasn’t hurt the semiconductor sector. The iShares Semiconductor exchange-traded fund (SOXX) is up about 18% year to date, in line with comparable gains of the S&P 500.\nThe sector has kept up even as shares of the largest companies in the ETF— Intel (INTC) and Broadcom (AVGO)—have underperformed. That pair is up about 9% and 14% year to date, respectively, lagging behind the industry and broader market.\nThe shortage isn’t going away soon. Only Monday, auto parts supplier Aptiv (APTV) cut sales and earnings guidance for 2021. About 3 million cars that were expected to be built and sold aren’t going to roll off assembly lines because of a lack of chips, the company said.\nInvestors can make the persisting shortage work for their portfolios by looking at Wall Street’s favorite chip-sector stocks. There are 14 stocks in the chip sector with above-average Buy-rating ratios and are trading with at least 30% upside compared with their average analyst target price.\nThe 14 stocks, listed by descending order of upside, are: specialty gas services provider Ultra Clean (ticker: UCTT), wafer equipment makers FormFactor (FORM), processing materials company CMC Materials (CCMP), chip designer Cirrus Logic (CRUS), equipment maker MKS Instruments (MKSI), light-emitting diode technology company Universal Display (OLED), semi-test company ASE Technology (ASX), memory maker Micron Technology (MU), mobile chip giant Qualcomm (QCOM), semi test and robot equipment maker Teradyne (TER), chip fabrication giant Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSM), mobile chip makers Skyworks Solutions (SWKS),Qorvo (QRVO), and equipment maker Lam Research (LRCX).\nChips With Upside\nThe majority of analysts have Buy ratings on these chip stocks---and think shares can climb at least 30%.\nSource: Bloomberg\nThe average Buy-rating ratio for the 14 stocks is about 75%. The average upside is almost 40%. Wall Street is more bullish today than it was a year ago. Before the chip shortage was daily news, the average upside for the group of 14 was about 12%.\nAccelerating earnings growth is one reason for optimism. For the group, earnings are expected to grow about 18% a year on average, up from about 12% average annual growth posted over the past three years.\nWhile these stocks in the chip sector look like they still have to run despite supply chain woes, a stock screen is just a starting point for more research.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":221,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":826573202,"gmtCreate":1634043827039,"gmtModify":1634043827377,"author":{"id":"3584030980368168","authorId":"3584030980368168","name":"paperhandler","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/612af881d0a9c92f4b2c94b453ceca08","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Facebook(FB)$is there and will be there for the next 5-10 years. Your analysts even do their best to project what price those stocks could attain over the next 12 months.
\n
Some of your analysts will be more optimistic than others. However, you get to look at an average of their price targets to help you pick stocks that could deliver especially attractive returns over the next year.
\n
The good news is that you don't have to use your imagination at all. Wall Street consensus price targets are readily available for many stocks. Here are three stocks Wall Street thinks will soar 44% to 121% that you'll definitely want to check out.
\n
1. Trupanion
\n
The average analyst's 12-month price target for Trupanion (NASDAQ:TRUP) reflects a 44% premium to the current share price. And the stock has proven already that it can reach that target level over the last 52 weeks.
\n
Trupanion ranks as the leading provider of medical insurance for cats and dogs in the U.S. and Canada. Its stock hasn't performed very well in recent months, mainly because the company didn't hit Wall Street's earnings estimates and its CEO sold some shares in September.
\n
Investors really don't have anything to worry about on either front, though. Trupanion continues to deliver strong growth, with revenue soaring 43% year over year in the second quarter. And while CEO Darryl Rawlings sold 8,000 shares last month, the sales were made under a previously scheduled Rule 10b5-1 trading plan. Rawlings still owns nearly 1 million shares of Trupanion.
\n
The company's long-term growth prospects remain as strong as ever. Only around 1% of all pets in the U.S. and 2% in Canada are covered by medical insurance. Trupanion doesn't have to increase that market penetration rate by much for its stock to be a huge winner for investors.
\n
2. Novocure
\n
Wall Street is even more bullish about Novocure (NASDAQ:NVCR). The consensus price target represents a potential upside of 56% for the healthcare stock.
\n
Novocure was flying high until July. Investors were disappointed with the company's results from a phase 2 study of its Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields) combined with sorafenib (chemotherapy) in treating advanced liver cancer. They also didn't think much of Novocure's Q2 results announced later in the month.
\n
But the company has plenty of other opportunities with TTFields, which are electric fields that can disrupt tumor cell division. The therapy has already been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in treating brain cancer and mesothelioma. Novocure is evaluating TTFields in late-stage clinical studies targeting several types of cancer, including pancreatic cancer and non-small cell lung cancer -- two huge potential markets.
\n
3. Skillz
\n
Analysts have especially lofty sights for Skillz (NYSE:SKLZ). The average 12-month price target is 122% higher than the current share price. The most pessimistic of the analysts surveyed by Refinitiv think that Skillz stock could jump 52% higher.
\n
Like Trupanion and Novocure, Skillz has delivered a dismal stock performance so far this year. But its shares have fallen a lot more than the other two and are now down close to 80% below the highs set in February.
\n
The main problem for Skillz is that its monthly active users count is no longer growing. Your analysts even do their best to project what price those stocks could attain over the next 12 months.\nSome of your analysts will be more optimistic than others. However, you get to look at an average of their price targets to help you pick stocks that could deliver especially attractive returns over the next year.\nThe good news is that you don't have to use your imagination at all. Wall Street consensus price targets are readily available for many stocks. Here are three stocks Wall Street thinks will soar 44% to 121% that you'll definitely want to check out.\n1. Trupanion\nThe average analyst's 12-month price target for Trupanion (NASDAQ:TRUP) reflects a 44% premium to the current share price. And the stock has proven already that it can reach that target level over the last 52 weeks.\nTrupanion ranks as the leading provider of medical insurance for cats and dogs in the U.S. and Canada. Its stock hasn't performed very well in recent months, mainly because the company didn't hit Wall Street's earnings estimates and its CEO sold some shares in September.\nInvestors really don't have anything to worry about on either front, though. Trupanion continues to deliver strong growth, with revenue soaring 43% year over year in the second quarter. And while CEO Darryl Rawlings sold 8,000 shares last month, the sales were made under a previously scheduled Rule 10b5-1 trading plan. Rawlings still owns nearly 1 million shares of Trupanion.\nThe company's long-term growth prospects remain as strong as ever. Only around 1% of all pets in the U.S. and 2% in Canada are covered by medical insurance. Trupanion doesn't have to increase that market penetration rate by much for its stock to be a huge winner for investors.\n2. Novocure\nWall Street is even more bullish about Novocure (NASDAQ:NVCR). The consensus price target represents a potential upside of 56% for the healthcare stock.\nNovocure was flying high until July. Investors were disappointed with the company's results from a phase 2 study of its Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields) combined with sorafenib (chemotherapy) in treating advanced liver cancer. They also didn't think much of Novocure's Q2 results announced later in the month.\nBut the company has plenty of other opportunities with TTFields, which are electric fields that can disrupt tumor cell division. The therapy has already been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in treating brain cancer and mesothelioma. Novocure is evaluating TTFields in late-stage clinical studies targeting several types of cancer, including pancreatic cancer and non-small cell lung cancer -- two huge potential markets.\n3. Skillz\nAnalysts have especially lofty sights for Skillz (NYSE:SKLZ). The average 12-month price target is 122% higher than the current share price. The most pessimistic of the analysts surveyed by Refinitiv think that Skillz stock could jump 52% higher.\nLike Trupanion and Novocure, Skillz has delivered a dismal stock performance so far this year. But its shares have fallen a lot more than the other two and are now down close to 80% below the highs set in February.\nThe main problem for Skillz is that its monthly active users count is no longer growing. At the same time, advertising costs are rising, making it more expensive to attract new users. However, the company's recent acquisition of Aarki, which operates a demand-side advertising platform, could help on this front.\nSkillz also has other potential near-term growth drivers. It launched a mobile version of the popular old-school arcade game Big Buck Hunter: Marksman. The company is also working with the NFL to pick the winners in a competition to identify new NFL-branded mobile games.\nWhat if the analysts are wrong?\nWall Street analysts can be -- and often are -- wrong. It's possible that none of these three stocks will hit their price targets. That's why you don't want to depend solely on analysts' estimates in choosing which stocks to buy.\nOf the three, my view is that Trupanion has the best chance of success. The company's software, which enables quick claim payments for veterinarians, gives it a significant competitive advantage.\nHowever, like Wall Street analysts, I could be wrong, too. There's no substitute for doing your own research before you buy any stock.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":220,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":828562992,"gmtCreate":1633925763072,"gmtModify":1633929680632,"author":{"id":"3584030980368168","authorId":"3584030980368168","name":"paperhandler","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/612af881d0a9c92f4b2c94b453ceca08","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"foolish","listText":"foolish","text":"foolish","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/828562992","repostId":"2174979414","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2174979414","pubTimestamp":1633915140,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2174979414?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-10-11 09:19","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 Top Stocks to Buy Without Hesitation If There's an October Stock Market Crash","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2174979414","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"These stocks should be on your \"watch closely\" list.","content":"
Tech stocks have taken a bit of a beating recently as the Nasdaq has fallen faster than the broader market. This tech-heavy index is only down single digits from its high, but it could go lower. Savvy investors often have a \"ready-to-buy\" list if the market crashes. We asked three Fool contributors what stock they would buy without hesitation if the market decides to pull back even more in October. They came up with The Trade Desk (NASDAQ:TTD), StoneCo (NASDAQ:STNE), and Cloudflare (NYSE:NET).
\n
The Trade Desk: Seeing the bigger picture
\n
Danny Vena (The Trade Desk): Advertising is in the midst of a once-in-a-generation paradigm shift. Viewers no longer rely on programming schedules for appointment-type viewing. The shotgun approach -- or one-size-fits-all -- style of advertising is going the way of the dinosaur. Target markets are as scattered as they are difficult to reach. That's where The Trade Desk comes in.
\n
The company's cutting edge platform isn't bound by traditional constraints and has the ability to assess 12 million ad impressions and quadrillions of permutations every second. This not only gives marketers more bang for their buck but also helps them better reach a fragmented target market.
\n
One sign of the value of The Trade Desk's platform is the company it keeps. Rather than competing with the world's largest advertising agencies, it partners with them using the data it gathers to further strengthen its algorithms. The company uses state-of-the-art technology to make split-second decisions with lightning precision.
\n
A recent announcement by Alphabet's Google that it will do away with ad-tracking cookies caught some investors off guard, leading to concerns that The Trade Desk's advertising business could suffer. CEO Jeff Green spoke frankly about the issue earlier this year, pointing out that this move has been anticipated for several years.
\n
The Trade Desk isn't concerned about the death of cookies for several reasons. First, the company has constructed Unified ID 2.0, the most widely accepted alternative to cookies in the ad industry. The platform has been adopted by a long and growing list of top tier names in advertising, giving The Trade Desk a notable edge.
\n
Additionally, cookies only matter when tracking users across the internet, which only amounts to roughly 20% of data-driven ads. This ignores the biggest growth areas in digital advertising, namely streaming audio, video, mobile, in-app, and connected TV. These are also, not coincidentally, the areas where The Trade Desk really shines, with growth far outstripping traditional advertising venues, including broadcast and pay TV.
\n
The Trade Desk's recent results paint a compelling picture. Revenue in the second quarter grew 101% year over year, though that was partially the result of easy comps. At the same time, earnings per share also doubled, and customer retention stayed above 95%, which it has done every quarter stretching back seven years.
\n
Finally, when looking for a stock to buy during a stock market crash, historical perspectives matter. In February of last year -- as panic regarding ad spending set in -- The Trade Desk stock was among those hardest hit, falling roughly 54%. However, after hitting bottom in late March, The Trade Desk rocketed higher, climbing more than sixfold from its lows and more than triple its previous all-time high, which it hit just prior to the start of the pandemic.
\n
This shows that The Trade Desk is as resilient as it is successful. That's why investors shouldn't hesitate to buy the stock if there's a stock market crash in October.
\n
StoneCo: User growth continues amid headwinds
\n
Will Healy (StoneCo): If American investors have heard of StoneCo at all, they may know the Brazilian fintech stock as a company Warren Buffett's team at Berkshire Hathaway bought before its 2018 initial public offering (IPO).
\n
Still, amid competition from e-commerce giant MercadoLibre, PagSeguro Digital, and now Sea Limited, StoneCo has earned business by eliminating \"bureaucracy.\" It goes to the client, finding areas of demand, and then quickly opens sales offices near its customers. This personal touch probably contributed to its rapid revenue and stock growth in past years.
\n
However, COVID-19 hit Brazil particularly hard, dramatically slowing the company's growth. Also, challenges with a new credit registry system forced the company to freeze new loans temporarily, which CEO Thiago Piau said \"contributed negatively\" to reported revenues.
\n
Consequently, in the first half of 2021, revenue of just under 1.5 billion Brazilian reais ($270 million) rose just 7% compared with the first six months of 2020. This is a considerable decline from the 63% revenue growth reported for a 12-month period in 2019 right before the pandemic started. Also, the company would have reported a loss in the first two quarters of 2021 if not for an R$841 million ($153 million) unrealized gain on an investment in Banco Inter, a Brazilian digital bank.
\n
Admittedly, an October crash would increase StoneCo's appeal. Nonetheless, since this stock has fallen by about 65% since February, investors need not wait for a market crash to buy this growth stock.
\n
The decline has taken its price-to-sales (P/S) ratio down to 17, far from its sales multiple of about 45 when the stock price peaked in February. Moreover, that is barely higher than PagSeguro's P/S ratio of 14, a stock that has traded at a significantly lower valuation than StoneCo for most of the last two years.
\n
Also, StoneCo continues to show signs of robust expansion. In the first half of 2021, the total payment volume (TPV) of R$111 billion ($20 billion) surged by 47% versus the first six months of 2020. Furthermore, active payment clients of almost 767,000 grew by 45% over the same period. Such metrics indicate that once StoneCo can get past the pandemic and the credit system challenges, massive growth in both the company and the stock should resume.
\n
Cloudflare: This high-flying growth stock makes cloud computing easier
\n
Brian Withers (NET): Cloudflare stock has been on a tear this year, up over 75%. While its fundamentals have improved, there's lots of excitement priced into this stock. Its price-to-sales (P/S) ratio is reaching a high-altitude, cirrus-cloud level of 77. But if the market pulls back in October, this is one you'll want to add to your portfolio. Let's find out why.
\n
First, the recent top-line growth and customer numbers are top-notch.
\n
\n
\n
\n

Metrics

\n

Q2 2020

\n

Q1 2021

\n

Q2 2021

\n

QoQ change

\n

YoY change

\n
\n
\n
\n
\n

Revenue

\n

$100 million

\n

$138 million

\n

$152 million

\n

10%

\n

53%

\n
\n
\n

>$100K ARR customers

\n

637

\n

945

\n

1,088

\n

15%

\n

71%

\n
\n
\n

Dollar-based net retention

\n

115%

\n

123%

\n

124%

\n

+9%

\n

+1%

\n
\n
\n
\n
Source: Company supplemental financial information document.
\n
Second, the company is growing its addressable market by adding adjacent products. When the company went public, it targeted its addressable market at $32 billion focused on its Cloudflare Application Services. By 2024, it expects its market to be $100 billion with general category growth and the addition of its Cloudflare Network Services and Cloudflare Zero Trust Services. With this rounding out of its offerings, it is making a more attractive platform for customers to grow their spend over time. Its most recent quarters' record 124% dollar-based net retention is evidence this strategy is working.
\n
Lastly, the market for cloud computing is becoming a massive market. International Data Corporation (IDC) forecasts the market for cloud computing and all of the related hardware, software, and professional services to be $1.3 trillion by 2025. This is up from $707 billion in 2021, representing a compound annual growth rate of 17%.
\n
This easy-to-onboard cloud service is attracting more customers and growing its market. If the only thing holding you back is its lofty valuation, this would be a great stock to add to your watch list in case the market pulls back this month.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 Top Stocks to Buy Without Hesitation If There's an October Stock Market Crash
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 Top Stocks to Buy Without Hesitation If There's an October Stock Market Crash\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-10-11 09:19 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Tech stocks have taken a bit of a beating recently as the Nasdaq has fallen faster than the broader market. In February of last year -- as panic regarding ad spending set in -- The Trade Desk stock was among those hardest hit, falling roughly 54%. However, after hitting bottom in late March, The Trade Desk rocketed higher, climbing more than sixfold from its lows and more than triple its previous all-time high, which it hit just prior to the start of the pandemic.\nThis shows that The Trade Desk is as resilient as it is successful. That's why investors shouldn't hesitate to buy the stock if there's a stock market crash in October.\nStoneCo: User growth continues amid headwinds\nWill Healy (StoneCo): If American investors have heard of StoneCo at all, they may know the Brazilian fintech stock as a company Warren Buffett's team at Berkshire Hathaway bought before its 2018 initial public offering (IPO).\nStill, amid competition from e-commerce giant MercadoLibre, PagSeguro Digital, and now Sea Limited, StoneCo has earned business by eliminating \"bureaucracy.\" It goes to the client, finding areas of demand, and then quickly opens sales offices near its customers. This personal touch probably contributed to its rapid revenue and stock growth in past years.\nHowever, COVID-19 hit Brazil particularly hard, dramatically slowing the company's growth. Also, challenges with a new credit registry system forced the company to freeze new loans temporarily, which CEO Thiago Piau said \"contributed negatively\" to reported revenues.\nConsequently, in the first half of 2021, revenue of just under 1.5 billion Brazilian reais ($270 million) rose just 7% compared with the first six months of 2020. This is a considerable decline from the 63% revenue growth reported for a 12-month period in 2019 right before the pandemic started. Also, the company would have reported a loss in the first two quarters of 2021 if not for an R$841 million ($153 million) unrealized gain on an investment in Banco Inter, a Brazilian digital bank.\nAdmittedly, an October crash would increase StoneCo's appeal. Nonetheless, since this stock has fallen by about 65% since February, investors need not wait for a market crash to buy this growth stock.\nThe decline has taken its price-to-sales (P/S) ratio down to 17, far from its sales multiple of about 45 when the stock price peaked in February. Moreover, that is barely higher than PagSeguro's P/S ratio of 14, a stock that has traded at a significantly lower valuation than StoneCo for most of the last two years.\nAlso, StoneCo continues to show signs of robust expansion. In the first half of 2021, the total payment volume (TPV) of R$111 billion ($20 billion) surged by 47% versus the first six months of 2020. Furthermore, active payment clients of almost 767,000 grew by 45% over the same period. Such metrics indicate that once StoneCo can get past the pandemic and the credit system challenges, massive growth in both the company and the stock should resume.\nCloudflare: This high-flying growth stock makes cloud computing easier\nBrian Withers (NET): Cloudflare stock has been on a tear this year, up over 75%. While its fundamentals have improved, there's lots of excitement priced into this stock. Its price-to-sales (P/S) ratio is reaching a high-altitude, cirrus-cloud level of 77. But if the market pulls back in October, this is one you'll want to add to your portfolio. Let's find out why.\nFirst, the recent top-line growth and customer numbers are top-notch.\n\n\n\nMetrics\nQ2 2020\nQ1 2021\nQ2 2021\nQoQ change\nYoY change\n\n\n\n\nRevenue\n$100 million\n$138 million\n$152 million\n10%\n53%\n\n\n>$100K ARR customers\n637\n945\n1,088\n15%\n71%\n\n\nDollar-based net retention\n115%\n123%\n124%\n+9%\n+1%\n\n\n\nSource: Company supplemental financial information document.\nSecond, the company is growing its addressable market by adding adjacent products. Its most recent quarters' record 124% dollar-based net retention is evidence this strategy is working.\nLastly, the market for cloud computing is becoming a massive market. International Data Corporation (IDC) forecasts the market for cloud computing and all of the related hardware, software, and professional services to be $1.3 trillion by 2025. This is up from $707 billion in 2021, representing a compound annual growth rate of 17%.\nThis easy-to-onboard cloud service is attracting more customers and growing its market. If the only thing holding you back is its lofty valuation, this would be a great stock to add to your watch list in case the market pulls back this month.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":114,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":823576245,"gmtCreate":1633651957613,"gmtModify":1633651957947,"author":{"id":"3584030980368168","authorId":"3584030980368168","name":"paperhandler","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/612af881d0a9c92f4b2c94b453ceca08","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$$GameStop(GME)$averaging down almost everyday. buy buy buy buy buy and hodl! don’t buy options, i hold for you, you hodl for me 🚀💎🙌🦍🦍🚀🚀💎🙌","listText":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$$GameStop(GME)$averaging down almost everyday. buy buy buy buy buy and hodl! don’t buy options, i hold for you, you hodl for me 🚀💎🙌🦍🦍🚀🚀💎🙌","text":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$$GameStop(GME)$averaging down almost everyday. buy buy buy buy buy and hodl! don’t buy options, i hold for you, you hodl for me 🚀💎🙌🦍🦍🚀🚀💎🙌","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/13eb24de1805e774f759dbb8176025c1","width":"1170","height":"2532"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":10,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/823576245","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":417,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":829787614,"gmtCreate":1633558880725,"gmtModify":1633558881040,"author":{"id":"3584030980368168","authorId":"3584030980368168","name":"paperhandler","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/612af881d0a9c92f4b2c94b453ceca08","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$the meme and the apes vs $h1+@d3l 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀[Wow] [Wow] [Wow] [Wow] [Wow] [Wow] [Wow] ","listText":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$the meme and the apes vs $h1+@d3l 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀[Wow] [Wow] [Wow] [Wow] [Wow] [Wow] [Wow] ","text":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$the meme and the apes vs $h1+@d3l 🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀[Wow] [Wow] [Wow] [Wow] [Wow] [Wow] [Wow]","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/99c86a83b6349d11a4626c7e68649109","width":"1170","height":"2532"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/829787614","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":126,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":820794608,"gmtCreate":1633429144746,"gmtModify":1633429145067,"author":{"id":"3584030980368168","authorId":"3584030980368168","name":"paperhandler","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/612af881d0a9c92f4b2c94b453ceca08","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$the long wait. hodl forever 🔥🔥🔥 $1000/share pls","listText":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$the long wait. hodl forever 🔥🔥🔥 $1000/share pls","text":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$the long wait. hodl forever 🔥🔥🔥 $1000/share pls","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/442bd14551f39e09c95f09d8210cc14d","width":"1170","height":"2532"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":9,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/820794608","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":132,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":820438699,"gmtCreate":1633412959589,"gmtModify":1633412959824,"author":{"id":"3584030980368168","authorId":"3584030980368168","name":"paperhandler","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/612af881d0a9c92f4b2c94b453ceca08","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"like i like ","listText":"like i like ","text":"like i like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/820438699","repostId":"2172968917","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2172968917","pubTimestamp":1633395971,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2172968917?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-10-05 09:06","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Why Adobe Stock Is a Buy for the Coming $10 Trillion \"Digital Transformation\" Boom","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2172968917","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Don't let a ho-hum September keep you away from this long-term winner.","content":"
Adobe (NASDAQ:ADBE) has hit the skids since its fiscal 2021 third quarter update in September. Shares are down some 12% on the month, putting the tech stock officially in \"correction\" territory. It's not that the report itself was bad, but fears that the software giant is \"overpriced\" and political angst caused by the U.S. debt limit debate have arisen.
\n
However, Adobe's cloud-based software is a key ingredient for getting work done these days and is still a fantastic long-term buy, especially with trillions of dollars expected to be spent on digital transformation tools like what Adobe offers. Adobe is a top partner for digital makeovers
\n
Digital transformation (DX from here on out) is all the rage in the software community right now. IDC thinks no less than $10 trillion will be spent on DX initiatives from 2019 through 2024, and 57% of total global IT spend will be on DX by 2024 compared to just 42% in 2020.
\n
While Adobe can only address a fraction of this huge spending spree, its focus on cloud-based creativity, marketing, document management, and customer engagement software positions it as a potential primary partner for any firm looking to get with the times. Having hauled in $15 billion in sales over the last 12 months, Adobe is a massive firm already. But given the relentlessly rising demand for its software, Adobe has no shortage of room to get much larger.
\n
2. A highly profitable growth business
\n
Adobe is undeniably a fantastic -- and perhaps underrated -- long-term growth story. It's been growing revenue at a double-digit percentage clip for years, and the company thinks momentum will continue. Adobe is wildly profitable, too. It's been generating operating profit margins of well over 20% over the last decade, and operating margin was at 36% over the last 12-month stretch. With its sticky suite of subscription-based creativity and data management software poised to continue growing, those lucrative profit margins aren't going away anytime soon.
\n
Pairing those consistent profits with double-digit sales expansion and a valuation currently at 48 times trailing-12-month earnings, a case could be made that Adobe is a value stock hiding in growth stock clothing.
\n
3. A superb balance sheet that's constantly being replenished
\n
As of Sept. 3, 2021, Adobe had $6.16 billion in cash and equivalents on the books, offset by debt of just $4.12 billion. Its cash hoard is constantly being fed, too. Adobe generated $6.61 billion of free cash flow in the last 12 months, some of which it added to the balance sheet. But management also returns an ample amount to shareholders. Adobe doesn't pay a dividend, but it does repurchase stock. It spent $1 billion in share buybacks during Q3 of fiscal 2021 alone.
\n
That still leaves plenty of capital for Adobe to invest in new software, or make the occasional acquisition. Its latest purchase: The proposed $1.275 billion takeover of video collaboration platform Frame.io, which boasts over one million users and will integrate with Adobe's existing toolkit for content creators.
\n
Adobe is still growing fast, generating plenty of profits, and in prime position to help lead its customers into a new digital era. older.
\n

\n
Moderna, Inc. today announced that theU.S. Food and Drug Administration(FDA) has extended the emergency use authorization of a booster dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine at the 50 µg dose level to all adults aged 18 and older. This booster can be used in all individuals 18 years and older who have completed a primary vaccination with any other authorized or approved COVID-19 vaccine.
\n
“This emergency use authorization comes at a critical time as we enter the winter months and face increasing COVID-19 case counts and hospitalizations across the country,” saidStéphane Bancel, Chief Executive Officer ofModerna. “We thank the FDA for their review, and are confident in the robust clinical evidence that a 50 µg booster dose of mRNA-1273 induces a strong immune response against COVID-19.”
\n
The booster dose is to be administered at least six months after completion of any primary series COVID-19 vaccination. OnOctober 20th, the FDAauthorizedfor emergency use a booster dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine at the 50 µg dose level for people aged 65 and older as well as adults aged 18 to 64 who are at high risk of severe COVID-19; and people aged 18 to 64 with frequent institutional or occupational exposure to SARS-CoV-2. The Moderna COVID-19 booster vaccine is authorized for adults ages 18 and above regardless of occupational risk factors in many international markets. This follows the earlier approval of the 100 µg mRNA 1273 third dose in immunocompromised individuals.
\n
The FDA based this EUA on the totality of scientific evidence shared by the company including a data analysis from the Phase 2 clinical study of mRNA-1273, which was amended to offer a booster dose of mRNA-1273 at the 50 µg dose level to interested participants 6-8 months following their second dose (n=344). Neutralizing antibody titers had waned prior to boosting, particularly against variants of concern, at approximately 6 months. Notably, a booster dose of mRNA-1273 at the 50 µg dose level boosted neutralizing titers significantly above the Phase 3 benchmark. The safety profile following the booster dose was similar to that observed previously for dose 2 of mRNA-1273.
\n
As a next step, theU.S. Centers for Disease Controland Prevention’s (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices(ACIP) will meet to discuss a potential recommendation for rollout of COVID-19 boosters to Americans.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Moderna Announces FDA Authorization of Booster Dose of COVID-19 Vaccine in the U.S. for Adults 18 Years and Older
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nModerna Announces FDA Authorization of Booster Dose of COVID-19 Vaccine in the U.S. for Adults 18 Years and Older\n
\n\n
\n\n\n\n\n\n

\n\n
\n
Tiger Newspress
\n
2021-11-19 21:10
\n
\n\n\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
Moderna stock surged 4% in premarket trading after announcing FDA authorization of booster dose of COVID-19 Vaccine in the U.S. for adults 18 years and older.
\n

\n
Moderna, Inc. today announced that theU.S. Food and Drug Administration(FDA) has extended the emergency use authorization of a booster dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine at the 50 µg dose level to all adults aged 18 and older.
