Here are two tech stocks you'll want to buy.</p>\n<h2>1. Apple</h2>\n<p>The burden that inflation is imposing on consumers also poses a threat to some of the biggest, best-run businesses, like <b>Apple</b> (NASDAQ:AAPL), which is currently benefiting from the smartphone upgrade cycle and the rollout of 5G network infrastructure. Any attempt by the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates to contain runaway inflation could cause an economic slowdown by making money more expensive to borrow. Stock valuations would also turn lower.</p>\n<p>That's not necessarily bad news for investors who might find Apple's $2.8 trillion valuation a bit rich to buy into at the moment. The stock trades at 30 times trailing earnings, or about double its typical multiple. A correction would bring Apple back into the realm of the attainable, even as its business continues jogging forward.</p>\n<p>Sales of the iPhone 13 are outpacing those of the iPhone 12 at the same time, but Apple reportedly warned suppliers that demand is waning as the calendar year progresses. It's not necessarily for a lack of consumer desire, but rather the global supply chain constraints that have made it difficult to find the product. Apple previously cut its iPhone production target by 10 million units from its original goal of 90 million.</p>\n<p>Analysts think many consumers may choose to forgo the iPhone 13 and wait for the next upgrade. Coupled with a market crash, that could put Apple stock at a very attractive entry point with pent-up demand for the next iteration of the iPhone.</p>\n<h2>2. Amazon</h2>\n<p>Few companies are as essential to the working of the U.S. economy as <b>Amazon</b>&nbsp;(NASDAQ:AMZN). It will account for 41.4% of all online spending in the U.S. this year, according to eMarketer estimates. At the same time, Amazon Web Services (AWS), its cloud infrastructure business, is on track to generate over $60 billion in annual revenue in 2021 based on its year-to-date performance. The company is responsible for thousands of web-based businesses and the federal government's ability to remain online, making Amazon crucial to a well-functioning economy.</p>\n<p>That won't change if the stock market collapses. Its share of U.S. retail e-commerce sales will be more than 50% larger than the shares of the next nine e-commerce companies combined. Amazon's piece of the online market is nearly six times more than <b>Walmart</b>'s second-place share at just 7.2%, and 10 times greater than third-place <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/EBAY\">eBay</a></b>. E-commerce data tracker Edge by Ascential expects Amazon will see $26.7 billion just in online grocery sales five from now years, or nearly double its current amount.</p>\n<p>Amid rising prices and supply chain woes, Amazon has become a lifeline for many, and that will continue long after any financial restructuring. The stock gained 76% during the first year of the pandemic and took a breather during the reopening of the economy. Amazon shares have been relatively flat all year long. So sales are bouncing back at Airbnb. In its most recent fiscal quarter ended Sept. 30, revenue was up 36% over the comparable pre-pandemic quarter in 2019. Even more impressively, net income increased to $834 million in the third quarter, up from $267 million in Q3 of 2019.</p>\n<p>The company is gaining traction&nbsp;in the lucrative travel and resort industry that could be worth over $1 trillion in sales annually. Folks can often find places to stay on Airbnb's platform that are better fitted to their needs compared to hotels, which are less customizable.</p>\n<p>Airbnb's stock is trading at a price-to-free-cash-flow ratio of 59 -- its lowest all year -- and a stock market crash could cause it to sell at an even lower price.</p>\n<p><b>Apple</b></p>\n<p>Unlike Airbnb, Apple's business has been thriving since the pandemic's onset. The company's products are more valuable to people working, learning, and entertaining themselves at home.</p>\n<p>But that's not the only factor driving sales higher for Apple. The tech giant has done a masterful job updating legacy products like the iPhone in a fashion that keeps consumers interested. The most recent iPhone update has increased sales of the product to $192 billion in its latest fiscal year ended Sept. 25, up from $138 billion a year ago.</p>\n<p>Apple has proven this capability for years. In the past decade alone, its revenue has grown at a compound annual rate of 12.9%. That's a difficult feat for a company the size of Apple with sales of $366 billion in its fiscal 2021.</p>\n<p>What's more, sales of its products are bringing customers into its ecosystem -- and once with Apple, consumers tend to stick around. Indeed, sales from its services segment totaled $54 billion in 2021, and those sales produce a higher profit margin than its products do.</p>\n<p>One of the only downsides to Apple's stock is its price. The company is&nbsp;approaching a $3 trillion market cap&nbsp;and is trading at a price-to-free-cash-flow ratio of 31 -- near the highs of the past decade. A stock market crash could alleviate some valuation concerns and allow you to buy Apple stock at a lower price.</p>\n<p><b>Amazon</b></p>\n<p>Sales at Amazon, the titan of online retailers, have been surging throughout the pandemic. The company stepped up and delivered while hundreds of millions of folks were looking to avoid shopping in person for fear of contracting COVID-19. Indeed, from fiscal 2019 to 2020, Amazon's sales rose by more than $100 billion. The 37.6% increase in year-over-year sales drove operating profits from $14.5 billion to $22.9 billion. Amazon has gained millions of customers during the pandemic, and undoubtedly many of them will stick around long after.</p>\n<p>Interestingly, Amazon's more profitable segments are growing faster than the company overall. In the most recent quarter ended Sept. 30, revenue from its Amazon Web Services segment (which provides cloud computing to businesses) rose 39% year over year to $16.1 billion while the category that includes advertising revenue jumped 49% to $8.1 billion. In fact, since Q2 2020, the ad revenue category has nearly doubled.</p>\n<p>Amazon is riding multiple tailwinds, including increased shopping online as well as greater&nbsp;advertising online. These trends could propel sales growth for several more years. Amazon's stock is not cheap, trading at a price-to-free-cash flow ratio of 239 and a price-to-earnings ratio of 66, but a stock market crash could give investors a chance to buy it at a lower price.</p>\n<p>Airbnb, Apple, and Amazon are all excellent businesses with solid prospects over several years. However, with the recent decline in share price but still resilient business fundamentals, valuations are starting to look more compelling.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/75ae50cce66d14520a3db0ce721b79a3\" tg-width=\"827\" tg-height=\"389\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Figure 2: AAPL's historical price-to-earnings ratio.</span></p>\n<p>The last read on the graph above shows a P/E of 29.0 times as of November 30. As of last check, on December 20, the fiscal 2022 multiple had dropped to 27.5 times. These are roughly the same levels of June 2020, after which Apple stock moved 85% higher in a year and a half.</p>\n<p><b>#2. The deeper the hole, the higher the gains</b></p>\n<p>“Buy low, sell high”. The mantra may seem overly simplistic, but the strategy has worked wonders in the case of AAPL.</p>\n<p>We have often mentioned here, on the Apple Maven channel, that shares of the Cupertino company&nbsp;do best when bought after a selloff. Historically, the one-year gains have been 22% when the stock is bought near a peak, but nearly 40% when bought after a 15% drawdown.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9439be7d48cbf04254a822d9d57576f3\" tg-width=\"601\" tg-height=\"361\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Figure 3: Average one-year return on AAPL, by strategy.</span></p>\n<p>Could this time be different for dip buyers? I think not. To be clear, I do not believe that every stock is worth owning on weakness, as “40% of all stocks have&nbsp;suffered&nbsp;a permanent 70%-plus decline from their peak value”.</p>\n<p>But in the case of Apple, it is highly likely that share price will eventually head higher again, shaking off short-term bearishness and chasing the strong business fundamentals. Having the patience to wait for the next rally is crucial.</p>\n<p><b>#3. Don’t underestimate volatility</b></p>\n<p>All the above sounds bullish at first glance, and an incentive to buy Apple at the current share price of around $168. But if doing so, I urge traders and investors to pay attention to volatility.</p>\n<p>The emotional and psychological aspects of investing can be as important as the quantitative considerations, in my view. The 10 largest holdings of the S&amp;P 500 make up 29% of the index. As mentioned, they are collectively up an average of 50% of the year, which contributes a gain of 13 percentage points to the S&amp;P 500's return. That's around half of the index's gain from these 10 stocks alone. It may surprise you to learn that technology stocks actually make up over a quarter of the whole index, and that's dominated by big companies like Apple and Microsoft. Similarly, the energy sector, which is actually the best-performing sector of 2021 (even better than tech) only makes up 3% of the index. The price-to-earnings ratio today is still higher than it had been for at least the full decade prior to the start of the pandemic (see chart below). However, with the recent decline in share price but still resilient business fundamentals, valuations are starting to look more compelling.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/75ae50cce66d14520a3db0ce721b79a3\" tg-width=\"827\" tg-height=\"389\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Figure 2: AAPL's historical price-to-earnings ratio.</span></p>\n<p>The last read on the graph above shows a P/E of 29.0 times as of November 30. As of last check, on December 20, the fiscal 2022 multiple had dropped to 27.5 times. These are roughly the same levels of June 2020, after which Apple stock moved 85% higher in a year and a half.</p>\n<p><b>#2. The deeper the hole, the higher the gains</b></p>\n<p>“Buy low, sell high”. The mantra may seem overly simplistic, but the strategy has worked wonders in the case of AAPL.</p>\n<p>We have often mentioned here, on the Apple Maven channel, that shares of the Cupertino company&nbsp;do best when bought after a selloff. Historically, the one-year gains have been 22% when the stock is bought near a peak, but nearly 40% when bought after a 15% drawdown.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9439be7d48cbf04254a822d9d57576f3\" tg-width=\"601\" tg-height=\"361\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Figure 3: Average one-year return on AAPL, by strategy.</span></p>\n<p>Could this time be different for dip buyers? I think not. To be clear, I do not believe that every stock is worth owning on weakness, as “40% of all stocks have&nbsp;suffered&nbsp;a permanent 70%-plus decline from their peak value”.</p>\n<p>But in the case of Apple, it is highly likely that share price will eventually head higher again, shaking off short-term bearishness and chasing the strong business fundamentals. Having the patience to wait for the next rally is crucial.</p>\n<p><b>#3. Don’t underestimate volatility</b></p>\n<p>All the above sounds bullish at first glance, and an incentive to buy Apple at the current share price of around $168. But if doing so, I urge traders and investors to pay attention to volatility.</p>\n<p>The emotional and psychological aspects of investing can be as important as the quantitative considerations, in my view. It will account for 41.4% of all online spending in the U.S. this year, according to eMarketer estimates. At the same time, Amazon Web Services (AWS), its cloud infrastructure business, is on track to generate over $60 billion in annual revenue in 2021 based on its year-to-date performance. The company is responsible for thousands of web-based businesses and the federal government's ability to remain online, making Amazon crucial to a well-functioning economy.</p>\n<p>That won't change if the stock market collapses. Its share of U.S. retail e-commerce sales will be more than 50% larger than the shares of the next nine e-commerce companies combined. Amazon's piece of the online market is nearly six times more than <b>Walmart</b>'s second-place share at just 7.2%, and 10 times greater than third-place <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/EBAY\">eBay</a></b>. Volume was 1.04 billion shares worth 1.13 billion Singapore dollars. There were 269 gainers and 194 decliners.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Among the actives, Ascendas REIT added 0.68 percent, while CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust shed 0.48 percent, City Developments and Wilmar International both advanced 0.74 percent, Comfort DelGro accelerated 2.19 percent, Dairy Farm International and Genting Singapore both jumped 2.01 percent, DBS Group lost 0.25 percent, Keppel Corp rose 0.39 percent, Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation eased 0.09 percent, SATS surged 2.62 percent, SembCorp Industries soared 2.58 percent, Singapore Airlines gained 0.62 percent, Singapore Exchange spiked 2.43 percent, Singapore Technologies Engineering increased 0.27 percent, Thai Beverage rallied 0.76 percent, United Overseas Bank collected 0.46 percent, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding climbed 0.78 percent and Mapletree Commercial Trust, Mapletree Logistics Trust, Singapore Press Holdings and SingTel were unchanged.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>The lead from Wall Street is soft as the major averages opened slightly higher on Friday but quickly turned lower and spent the remainder of the day in negative territory.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>The Dow shed 59/72 points or 0.17 percent to finish at 34,580.08, while the NASDAQ plummeted 295.83 points or 1.92 percent to close at 15,085.47 and the S&amp;P 500 lost 38.67 points or 0.84 percent to end at 4,538.43. For the week, the NASDAQ tumbled 2.6 percent, the S&amp;P lost 1.2 percent and the Dow fell 0.9 percent.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>The losses extended the volatility seen throughout the week, with stocks showing wild swings in reaction to the Omicron variant of the coronavirus. After the first confirmed case in the U.S. earlier in the week, the new variant has now been detected in at least five states.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Traders also reacted to the Labor Department report showing weaker than expected U.S. job growth in November, although the jobless rate fell to 4.2 percent - its lowest since February 2020.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>While the disappointing job growth has raised some concerns about the economic outlook amid the emergence of the Omicron variant, the Federal Reserve is not expected to deviate from accelerating the tapering of its asset purchases.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Crude oil futures pared early gains and settled lower Friday amid uncertainty about the outlook for energy demand due to fresh restrictions following the spread of the new coronavirus variant Omicron in several countries.
