The ARK Innovation ETF (NYSEMKT:ARKK) is down 38% off its all-time high and down 22% year to date.
\n
ARK and Wood invest in lots of high-growth tech stocks that have been battered this year, which is what's causing the fund's poor performance. Coinbase Global (NASDAQ:COIN), Shopify (NYSE:SHOP), and UiPath (NYSE:PATH) are some of Cathie Wood's favorites, and all are between 20% and 50% off their all-time highs. However, the fact that millions of dollars of their stock are sitting in Wood's ETFs should be indicative of their long-term potential. These companies are trading at bargain prices today, so you might want to consider putting them on your watchlist.
\n
Coinbase: A way to invest in crypto
\n
Coinbase is ARK Invest's third-largest holding, clocking in at a market value of $1.25 billion. Shares of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange have sunk like a stone recently, falling 32% off its all-time highs. However, this isn't fully indicative of business performance.
\n
With over $255 billion in assets across 100 different countries and 72 million users, Coinbase has become a cornerstone of the crypto economy as one of the leading, most trusted cryptocurrency exchanges. The company takes a cut of every purchase of crypto on the platform, so the rise in popularity of cryptocurrency has resulted in impressive revenue success. The company's revenue increased by over 330% year over year in Q3. With this, the company has also achieved impressive profitability: Coinbase brought almost one-third of its revenue to the bottom line.
\n
While its reliance on cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) has led to amazing growth recently, it's really a double-edged sword. The company makes money only on purchases of crypto, so in large-scale crypto sell-offs, the company is left stranded. This leaves Coinbase largely vulnerable to the winds of the crypto markets.
\n
With the recent sell-off of crypto and Bitcoin, Coinbase has followed suit -- falling to a valuation of just 22 times earnings. Whether this is justified or not, Coinbase will likely mimic the crypto market, and its success largely depends on the widespread adoption of crypto. Therefore, if you think that cryptocurrencies will skyrocket over the next decade, Coinbase could be a smart investment.
\n
UiPath: An AI pureplay
\n
While not as large as Coinbase, ARK ETFs hold over $1 billion of UiPath stock -- making it the sixth-largest holding across all of Wood's funds. UiPath is disrupting the way companies operate and handle tedious, repetitive tasks by normalizing the use of artificial intelligence and bots. The company has the vision to deliver a fully automated enterprise so that workers can optimize their efficiency, and the way the company is doing this has attracted companies like AutoDesk (NASDAQ:ADSK) and NASA.
\n
While UiPath's product sounds like a pie-in-the-sky dream, the company is more than real. It has over 9,600 customers and $818 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR). With such dominance, UiPath has been named a market leader in the robotic process automation (RPA) market in Gartner's Magic Quadrant. As the leader, it has gained the trust and confidence of companies that might be wary of bringing automation and robots into the workplace.
\n
UiPath has lots of potential to grow. The company sees a $30 billion addressable opportunity by 2024, which would be immense growth from its current $818 million in ARR. UiPath might get some pushback along the way from those wary of integrating robots into the workplace, but its robots can provide efficiency improvements. The company has saved its customers millions of hours and dollars without putting workers' jobs on the line. UiPath is meant to work alongside human employees, and it has been successful in doing so.
\n
Shares have fallen drastically since it came public earlier this year, and that has provided a valuation that an appealing valuation public at 60 times sales, but it now trades at 22 times sales. Cathie Wood has taken the opportunity to buy more shares this December, and you might want to consider doing the same.
\n
Shopify: The rising e-commerce pick
\n
Shopify is farther down at the 11th-largest ARK position, but still represents $950 million worth of shares -- and for good reason. The company has doubled its gross merchandise volume (GMV) over the past 16 months, reaching $400 billion in cumulative GMV on its merchants' platforms in Q3. This has been because of the company's relentless focus on its customers' growth and success. This is unrivaled by competitors like Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN), which have often stifled SMBs by noticing their success and then offering and promoting a self-developed product that competes with them directly.
\n
The company recently announced a new feature that would make international sales easier for merchants. Shopify Markets would allow companies to streamline global expansion -- something many Shopify users might never have thought possible. The company also has plans to roll out additional features over the next few years, with one of my personal favorites being Shopify Fulfillment. With this, users could access the fulfillment network that Shopify is building out and let the company pack and ship orders for them.
\n
This focus on customer success is truly unique, which is why the company demands a very high premium. The company trades at roughly 40 times sales, which is the highest valuation out of these three stocks. However, I also believe that Shopify is the highest-quality stock on this list. While all three of these stocks are appealing, Shopify has proven itself the most, and the company's expansion efforts beyond SMB look very promising. While there is more risk that share prices could continue dropping, I think it is worth paying up for high-quality companies, and Shopify fits that bill. Its innovations include a platform for generating artificially intelligent avatars, and a computer engine that will help train the deep neural networks that make up AI.
\n
Optimism over Nvidia and the metaverse has helped the stock surge in recent weeks, and that was set to continue Thursday after the company posted strong third-quarter earnings. CEO Jensen Huang didn’t skip an opportunity to talk about the company’s future in virtual worlds, outlining how “Omniverse brings together Nvidia’s expertise in AI, simulation, graphics and computing infrastructure.”
\n
“This is the tip of the iceberg of what’s to come,” Huang said in a statement with the company’s earnings Wednesday.
\n
Virtual worlds have never been more real. And while investors inclined to get ahead of the trend may be looking immediately at the high-tech stocks powering the future of the metaverse, the opportunities are in fact far more diverse.
\n
The luxury sector is one of them.
\n
Digital assets could constitute 10% of the addressable market in luxury goods by 2030, representing a €50 billion ($57 billion) revenue opportunity and increasing industry earnings by up to 25%, according to new research from Morgan Stanley.
\n
“Today, people spend more time interacting with their friends on social media and in gaming platforms than in real life in the developed world,” said the team at the bank, led by Edward Stanley, Edouard Aubin, and Elena Mariani. “As more aspects of people’s lives move to the internet, demand for digital fashion and luxury goods is set to increase dramatically in the coming years,” the team added.
\n
There are fundamentally two different branches of metaverse opportunities for luxury companies.
\n
The first is in gaming—particularly videogames that are social and have a lot of emphasis on player image. Allowing users to pay to add luxury products to their online avatar, including through revenue-sharing agreements with developers, is on the rise, according to Morgan Stanley. Tangential to games are online events, such as music festivals, which have the potential to reach a massive audience of young consumers. Along with luxury brands, beneficiaries of the events trend include the likes of Universal Music Group (UMS.Netherlands).
\n
The second metaverse opportunity is in nonfungible tokens (NFTs), which are tokenized versions of digital media that are hosted, and traded, on the blockchain—the decentralized ledger technology underpinning cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ether.Luxury companies can sell exclusive versions of their digital products for a hefty price tag: Dolce & Gabbana sold nine NFTs for $5.7 million, according to the bank’s research. NFTs are only growing in popularity.
\n
Each addressable market should contribute a similar sales boost to the luxury sector in a bull case, according to Morgan Stanley, but NFTs are likely to be more profitable.
\n
“While gaming collaborations are, we argue, more advanced in their ability to generate revenue and a wider halo effect for the industry, NFTs present a more material EBIT upside opportunity over the remainder of the decade,” said the team at the bank. Gaming collaborations could constitute 40% of metaverse revenue by 2030, but only 20% of profits.
\n
While revenue from digital mediums remains negligible for luxury brands, the opportunities are only increasing, according to Morgan Stanley. While the metaverse will take years to develop, and there remain risks to its long-term future, social gaming and NFTs are near-term plays.
\n
The whole luxury sector is likely to benefit from these trends, but some companies are better positioned than others. Its innovations include a platform for generating artificially intelligent avatars, and a computer engine that will help train the deep neural networks that make up AI.\nOptimism over Nvidia and the metaverse has helped the stock surge in recent weeks, and that was set to continue Thursday after the company posted strong third-quarter earnings. CEO Jensen Huang didn’t skip an opportunity to talk about the company’s future in virtual worlds, outlining how “Omniverse brings together Nvidia’s expertise in AI, simulation, graphics and computing infrastructure.”\n“This is the tip of the iceberg of what’s to come,” Huang said in a statement with the company’s earnings Wednesday.\nVirtual worlds have never been more real. And while investors inclined to get ahead of the trend may be looking immediately at the high-tech stocks powering the future of the metaverse, the opportunities are in fact far more diverse.\nThe luxury sector is one of them.\nDigital assets could constitute 10% of the addressable market in luxury goods by 2030, representing a €50 billion ($57 billion) revenue opportunity and increasing industry earnings by up to 25%, according to new research from Morgan Stanley.\n“Today, people spend more time interacting with their friends on social media and in gaming platforms than in real life in the developed world,” said the team at the bank, led by Edward Stanley, Edouard Aubin, and Elena Mariani. “As more aspects of people’s lives move to the internet, demand for digital fashion and luxury goods is set to increase dramatically in the coming years,” the team added.\nThere are fundamentally two different branches of metaverse opportunities for luxury companies.\nThe first is in gaming—particularly videogames that are social and have a lot of emphasis on player image. Allowing users to pay to add luxury products to their online avatar, including through revenue-sharing agreements with developers, is on the rise, according to Morgan Stanley. Tangential to games are online events, such as music festivals, which have the potential to reach a massive audience of young consumers. Along with luxury brands, beneficiaries of the events trend include the likes of Universal Music Group (UMS.Netherlands).\nThe second metaverse opportunity is in nonfungible tokens (NFTs), which are tokenized versions of digital media that are hosted, and traded, on the blockchain—the decentralized ledger technology underpinning cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ether.Luxury companies can sell exclusive versions of their digital products for a hefty price tag: Dolce & Gabbana sold nine NFTs for $5.7 million, according to the bank’s research. NFTs are only growing in popularity.\nEach addressable market should contribute a similar sales boost to the luxury sector in a bull case, according to Morgan Stanley, but NFTs are likely to be more profitable.\n“While gaming collaborations are, we argue, more advanced in their ability to generate revenue and a wider halo effect for the industry, NFTs present a more material EBIT upside opportunity over the remainder of the decade,” said the team at the bank. Gaming collaborations could constitute 40% of metaverse revenue by 2030, but only 20% of profits.\nWhile revenue from digital mediums remains negligible for luxury brands, the opportunities are only increasing, according to Morgan Stanley. While the metaverse will take years to develop, and there remain risks to its long-term future, social gaming and NFTs are near-term plays.\nThe whole luxury sector is likely to benefit from these trends, but some companies are better positioned than others. Namely, “soft luxury” brands—which make ready-to-wear items such as leather goods and shoes—are in a better spot than “hard luxury” groups specializing in the likes of jewelry and watches.\nAnd if it’s true that users will be more inclined to wear designer leather jackets than Rolexes in the metaverse, the Morgan Stanley team has a winning stock pick:Kering (KER.France).\nThe French luxury-goods group owns brands including Gucci, Balenciaga, Yves Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, and others. It’s the best-placed given the brands’ demographic, as well as the company’s head start in innovative digital collaborations, according to the bank.\nBalenciaga, for instance, has a new partnership for in-game merchandise in the online game Fortnite. Users can buy real-world clothing lines and see an in-game billboard that has also appeared concurrently in New York, London, Tokyo, and Seoul.\nGucci, on its part, has a collaboration with online gaming and game creation platform Roblox (RBLX) allowing players to purchase virtual products. There was so much hype to buy a virtual Gucci purse that it resold within the online marketplace for more money than its real-world counterpart, according to Morgan Stanley.\nShares in Kering, which are also traded in U.S. over-the-counter markets, have climbed more than 25% this year.\n“Metaverse is not just some futuristic idea. Early versions already exist,” the team at Morgan Stanley said. “It offers a big opportunity for digital-only brands. But luxury brands, with their vast intellectual property built over decades, are set to be amongst the main beneficiaries,” it added.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":638,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":854605183,"gmtCreate":1635437797142,"gmtModify":1635437797667,"author":{"id":"3575279398688498","authorId":"3575279398688498","name":"GreenMilkTea","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8b6b3811d290a0e0acb7082a9fefefd7","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575279398688498","authorIdStr":"3575279398688498"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"<a to what Amazon showed a few years back
\n
Apple Inc. could turn advertising into its next $20 billion business as the company ramps up its offerings and clamps down on ad targeting by third parties.
\n
That's according to estimates from Evercore ISI analyst Amit Daryanani, who pegged Apple's $(AAPL)$ advertising business as an \"underappreciated\" part of the company's story and one with the potential for big growth over the coming years. The advertising business could reach $20 billion in revenue by 2025, he posits, up from perhaps $2 billion currently.
\n
Advertising represents a high-margin revenue stream for Apple. By 2025, ad revenue could constitute about 17% of Apple's services revenue and about 5% of total revenue, but 9% of earnings per share, by Daryanani's math.
\n
Daryanani rates Apple's stock outperform, with a $180 price target. The stock slipped 0.8% in midday trading Wednesday. It has rallied 16.9% over the past three months, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average has gained 3.4%.
\n
The smartphone giant's current advertising revenue mainly comes from App Store search, according to Daryanani, and he sees opportunities for the company to turn the App Store into more of a \"content discovery\" vehicle versus a \"content delivery\" one. He pointed to the company's launch of search ads in China earlier this year and the potential for increasing ad loads as ways that Apple can increase its advertising revenue organically.
\n
There are also new opportunities that Apple could tap, modeled off of successful endeavors by other companies in the digital ad world. Roku Inc. (ROKU) offers a \"reasonable precedent\" for the ways that Apple could monetize its Apple TV installed base, and Alphabet Inc.'s $(GOOGL)$(GOOGL) Google \"is likely generating few billion dollars\" from Google Maps advertisements, Daryanani wrote. Apple could try similar tactics with Apple Maps.
\n
On the whole, Google looks poised to generate more than $200 billion in advertising revenue this year, he continued, and while Apple is unlikely to \"compete with Google's scale anytime soon,\" the size of Google's ad business gives him more confidence in his $20 billion estimate for Apple come 2025. He also noted that Amazon.com Inc. $(AMZN)$ grew advertising revenue to about $21 billion in 2020 from roughly $3 billion in 2016, suggesting Apple could achieve a \"similar trajectory.\"
\n
As Apple grows its own ad business, the company has taken steps to shake up the broader digital ad space, most notably through its App Tracking Transparency efforts. This makes it so third parties need to obtain consumer permission before tracking their broader online activities. Many users appear to be opting out of having their activity monitored in this way, according to early estimates.
\n
Apple positions App Tracking Transparency as a privacy-focused effort, and while Daryanani acknowledges that it \"certainly does help in that arena,\" he also said that there could be a more \"Machiavellian\" or \"nuanced\" way to view these efforts: By making it more difficult for third-party apps to target users on iOS devices, those companies may be tempted to spend more money on Apple's own advertising products.
\n
He pointed to recent comments from Zynga Inc. $(ZNGA)$, which has been negatively impacted by the privacy changes. \"We're now testing and actually spending money with Apple to acquire users because...one of the things they're doing under the hood is they're building their own ad tech capabilities,\" Zynga Chief Financial Officer James Griffin said at a KeyBanc conference earlier this month.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
This could be Apple's next $20 billion business
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nThis could be Apple's next $20 billion business\n
\n\n
\n\n\n<div class=\"head\" \">\n\n\n

\n\n
\n
Dow Jones
\n
2021-08-26 11:52
\n
\n\n
\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
An analyst sees Apple rapidly growing its advertising business at a similar trajectory to what Amazon showed a few years back
\n
Apple Inc. could turn advertising into its next $20 billion business as the company ramps up its offerings and clamps down on ad targeting by third parties.
\n
That's according to estimates from Evercore ISI analyst Amit Daryanani, who pegged Apple's $(AAPL)$ advertising business as an \"underappreciated\" part of the company's story and one with the potential for big growth over the coming years.
The ARK Innovation ETF (NYSEMKT:ARKK) is down 38% off its all-time high and down 22% year to date.\nARK and Wood invest in lots of high-growth tech stocks that have been battered this year, which is what's causing the fund's poor performance. These companies are trading at bargain prices today, so you might want to consider putting them on your watchlist.\nCoinbase: A way to invest in crypto\nCoinbase is ARK Invest's third-largest holding, clocking in at a market value of $1.25 billion. Shares of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange have sunk like a stone recently, falling 32% off its all-time highs. However, this isn't fully indicative of business performance.\nWith over $255 billion in assets across 100 different countries and 72 million users, Coinbase has become a cornerstone of the crypto economy as one of the leading, most trusted cryptocurrency exchanges. The company takes a cut of every purchase of crypto on the platform, so the rise in popularity of cryptocurrency has resulted in impressive revenue success. The company's revenue increased by over 330% year over year in Q3. With this, the company has also achieved impressive profitability: Coinbase brought almost one-third of its revenue to the bottom line.\nWhile its reliance on cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) has led to amazing growth recently, it's really a double-edged sword. The company makes money only on purchases of crypto, so in large-scale crypto sell-offs, the company is left stranded. This leaves Coinbase largely vulnerable to the winds of the crypto markets.\nWith the recent sell-off of crypto and Bitcoin, Coinbase has followed suit -- falling to a valuation of just 22 times earnings. Whether this is justified or not, Coinbase will likely mimic the crypto market, and its success largely depends on the widespread adoption of crypto. Therefore, if you think that cryptocurrencies will skyrocket over the next decade, Coinbase could be a smart investment.\nUiPath: An AI pureplay\nWhile not as large as Coinbase, ARK ETFs hold over $1 billion of UiPath stock -- making it the sixth-largest holding across all of Wood's funds. UiPath is disrupting the way companies operate and handle tedious, repetitive tasks by normalizing the use of artificial intelligence and bots. The company has the vision to deliver a fully automated enterprise so that workers can optimize their efficiency, and the way the company is doing this has attracted companies like AutoDesk (NASDAQ:ADSK) and NASA.\nWhile UiPath's product sounds like a pie-in-the-sky dream, the company is more than real. It has over 9,600 customers and $818 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR). With such dominance, UiPath has been named a market leader in the robotic process automation (RPA) market in Gartner's Magic Quadrant. As the leader, it has gained the trust and confidence of companies that might be wary of bringing automation and robots into the workplace.\nUiPath has lots of potential to grow. UiPath is meant to work alongside human employees, and it has been successful in doing so.\nShares have fallen drastically since it came public earlier this year, and that has provided a valuation that an appealing valuation public at 60 times sales, but it now trades at 22 times sales. Cathie Wood has taken the opportunity to buy more shares this December, and you might want to consider doing the same.\nShopify: The rising e-commerce pick\nShopify is farther down at the 11th-largest ARK position, but still represents $950 million worth of shares -- and for good reason. The company has doubled its gross merchandise volume (GMV) over the past 16 months, reaching $400 billion in cumulative GMV on its merchants' platforms in Q3. This has been because of the company's relentless focus on its customers' growth and success. This is unrivaled by competitors like Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN), which have often stifled SMBs by noticing their success and then offering and promoting a self-developed product that competes with them directly.\nThe company recently announced a new feature that would make international sales easier for merchants. Shopify Markets would allow companies to streamline global expansion -- something many Shopify users might never have thought possible. The company also has plans to roll out additional features over the next few years, with one of my personal favorites being Shopify Fulfillment. With this, users could access the fulfillment network that Shopify is building out and let the company pack and ship orders for them.\nThis focus on customer success is truly unique, which is why the company demands a very high premium. That day, t","content":"
After hibernating for months, the stock-market bears came out of their caves on July 19. That day, the Dow Jones Industrial AverageDJIA,-0.42%tumbled 725 points or 2.1%. The bears hit a home run — at least for a day.
\n
As usual, everyone wanted to know why the market fell, and the analysts had prepared answers, from COVID-19’s Delta variant to the Consumer Price Index to overbought technical indicators.
\n
The truth is that nobody knows. People have multiple reasons for selling, so it’s ridiculous to blame one event. That said, a big contributor to the decline was automatic, computer-generated selling. Once large market participants, especially algos, started selling, there was a mad rush out of the door. No one wanted to be the last one out, so retail traders and institutions sold in a panic, which got more intense as the day went on.
\n
Technical indicators contributed as well: The weekly relative strength indicator (RSI) has been remarkably accurate in warning of a market reversal. Once RSI goes over 70 and stays there, buyers beware. After the July 26 market close, the RSI of the S&P 500SPX,-0.54%stood at 71.36 on the weekly chart — an extremely overbought reading. Does this mean that the index is going to plunge tomorrow? No one knows. But RSI is giving a clue that the U.S. market is in the danger zone.
\n
The bad news bears can’t catch a break
\n
Before the bears could say, “I told you so,” the next day, July 20, the 700-plus point Dow selloff was erased by a 550-point Dow rally. The bulls forgot about the selloff and returned to celebrating, and gulping glass after glass of their favorite drink, “bull-ade.” Once again, the storm passed, but this time a little fear creeped into the bulls’ psyche. Before, the only fear was the fear of missing out on the next rally. Now, many investors realize the market can actually go down.
\n
What to do now
\n
The next time the market plunges and you’re experiencing a variety of emotions, the following guide might help:
\n
1. If you’re panicked: Don’t do something; sit there. Do not buy, do not sell, just sit tight. In fact, turn off the computer or other devices. Don’t fret over how much paper money you lost that day. Exercise, walk, run, swim, ride a bike. Your goal is to reduce emotions so you can get a good night’s sleep. When the market stabilizes, reevaluate what you own. Do not make any big financial decisions on days like this.
\n
2. If you’re afraid: Take it easy. The selloff will end eventually. There is no reason to panic. Again, reevaluate what you own when the market comes to its senses.
\n
3. If you’re unaffected:Still, check your portfolio to make sure you are properly diversified. While it’s find to not care if the market falls, be sure you are hedged for a worst-case scenario. One day there will be a bear market that will last months or years. Be prepared.
\n
What specific actions should you take?
\n
Now that you’ve taken care of your emotional health, there are other financial decisions you can make. Let’s take a look atsome strategies and tacticsthat may help:
\n
\n
Sell if the stocks or indexes you own fall below their 200-day moving averages. Note: The major indexes such as the Standard & Poor’s 500SPX,-0.54%have not fallen below (and stayed below) their 200-day averages for a decade. When they do eventually, that is a clear sell signal.
\n
Create a long-term investment plan and follow it no matter what happens in the short term.
\n
Dollar-cost average into index funds.
\n
Diversify. This is the key to success in the stock market and in life. If you own only stocks, consider bonds, but talk to a financial professional (not your neighbor) before taking this step.
\n
Buy the big dips. This strategy still works. If you had bought the dip on July 19, you would have cleaned up on July 20. One day this strategy won’t work, but that day hasn’t come yet.
\n
Sell covered-call options. This is still an excellent way to generate extra income. This strategy is also ideal for disposing of unwanted stocks, and getting paid for it.
\n
\n
Plan for the next correction or bear market
\n
After a 13-year bull market, the clock is ticking for U.S. stocks. That day, the Dow Jones Industrial AverageDJIA,-0.42%tumbled 725 points or 2.1%. The bears hit a home run — at least for a day.\nAs usual, everyone wanted to know why the market fell, and the analysts had prepared answers, from COVID-19’s Delta variant to the Consumer Price Index to overbought technical indicators.\nThe truth is that nobody knows. People have multiple reasons for selling, so it’s ridiculous to blame one event. That said, a big contributor to the decline was automatic, computer-generated selling. Once large market participants, especially algos, started selling, there was a mad rush out of the door. No one wanted to be the last one out, so retail traders and institutions sold in a panic, which got more intense as the day went on.\nTechnical indicators contributed as well: The weekly relative strength indicator (RSI) has been remarkably accurate in warning of a market reversal. But RSI is giving a clue that the U.S. market is in the danger zone.\nThe bad news bears can’t catch a break\nBefore the bears could say, “I told you so,” the next day, July 20, the 700-plus point Dow selloff was erased by a 550-point Dow rally. The bulls forgot about the selloff and returned to celebrating, and gulping glass after glass of their favorite drink, “bull-ade.” Once again, the storm passed, but this time a little fear creeped into the bulls’ psyche. Before, the only fear was the fear of missing out on the next rally. Now, many investors realize the market can actually go down.\nWhat to do now\nThe next time the market plunges and you’re experiencing a variety of emotions, the following guide might help:\n1. Do not make any big financial decisions on days like this.\n2. If you’re afraid: Take it easy. The selloff will end eventually. There is no reason to panic. Again, reevaluate what you own when the market comes to its senses.\n3. If you’re unaffected:Still, check your portfolio to make sure you are properly diversified. While it’s find to not care if the market falls, be sure you are hedged for a worst-case scenario. One day there will be a bear market that will last months or years. Be prepared.\nWhat specific actions should you take?\nNow that you’ve taken care of your emotional health, there are other financial decisions you can make. Let’s take a look atsome strategies and tacticsthat may help:\n\nSell if the stocks or indexes you own fall below their 200-day moving averages. Note: The major indexes such as the Standard & Poor’s 500SPX,-0.54%have not fallen below (and stayed below) their 200-day averages for a decade. When they do eventually, that is a clear sell signal.\nCreate a long-term investment plan and follow it no matter what happens in the short term.\nDollar-cost average into index funds.\nDiversify. This is the key to success in the stock market and in life. If you own only stocks, consider bonds, but talk to a financial professional (not your neighbor) before taking this step.\nBuy the big dips. This strategy still works. If you had bought the dip on July 19, you would have cleaned up on July 20. One day this strategy won’t work, but that day hasn’t come yet.\nSell covered-call options. This is still an excellent way to generate extra income. This strategy is also ideal for disposing of unwanted stocks, and getting paid for it.\n\nPlan for the next correction or bear market\nAfter a 13-year bull market, the clock is ticking for U.S. stocks. While the bulls scored another victory this time, one day the market won’t reverse direction and will begin a steep correction, or worse yet, a bear market. That’s when you will be glad that you have a plan and an investment script to follow on the worst days.\nKnow what you own, sell to the “sleep-well” point and diversify into a variety of financial products including cash and bonds. This way, when the market plunges again, you won’t make knee-jerk emotional decisions or suffer an anxiety attack.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":74,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":808128973,"gmtCreate":1627565983092,"gmtModify":1631890397206,"author":{"id":"3575279398688498","authorId":"3575279398688498","name":"GreenMilkTea","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8b6b3811d290a0e0acb7082a9fefefd7","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3575279398688498","idStr":"3575279398688498"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ready to top up more. #NoFear 😎","listText":"Ready to top up more. #NoFear 😎","text":"Ready to top up more. #NoFear 😎","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/808128973","repostId":"1198546715","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1198546715","pubTimestamp":1627562631,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1198546715?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-07-29 20:43","market":"us","language":"en","title":"PayPal: Looking Beyond eBay's Impact","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1198546715","media":"seekingalpha","summary":"Summary\n\nPayPal's Q3 2021 guidance took investors by surprise.\nPayPal contends that asides from eBay","content":"
Summary
\n
\n
PayPal's Q3 2021 guidance took investors by surprise.
\n
PayPal contends that asides from eBay Marketplace's migration off PayPal, its underlying business is performing very strongly.
\n
PayPal is priced at 13x sales. Having said that, the elephant in the room is that Q2 2021 saw just 19% y/y revenue growth rates.
\n
Given that during Q1 its revenue had just grown by its fastest rate in PayPal's history, investors were minimally expecting PayPal to continue that momentum and shine this quarter. After all, this is a company that has a long history of delivering positive results and easily beating its guidance.
\n
At the core of the after-hours reaction, we have to keep in mind that this is a company that buy-and-hold investors perceived as ''safe'' and one that ''shouldn't'' have negative surprises.
\n
Hence, this rare weak quarter is more likely than not to be met by not only heavy selling in the coming days, and I fully suspect that the media will all over this stock reporting how PayPal has lost its flow.
\n
PayPal's CEO Dan Schulman points out that eBay was a headwind for PayPal during the quarter as eBay Marketplaces stopped being served by PayPal.
\n
What's more, PayPal declares that eBay Marketplaces accounted for roughly 8% revenue growth rate headwind, which is particularly noticeable given the strong performance in the same period a year ago.
\n

\n
This is what PayPal's CFO John Rainey said during the call:
\n
\n So last year in the second quarter, we grew revenue 22%, and in that number, there was a benefit of 5 percentage points of growth from eBay. So 22% revenue growth for 5 percentage points of benefit from eBay. This year in the second quarter, we grew revenue 19% and that number included 800 or 8 percentage points of headwind related to eBay's business.\n
\n
Looking ahead, PayPal highlighted during the call that by year-end, eBay's total payment volume (''TPV'') will account for just 2.5% of PayPal TPV by year-end.
\n
What's more, during Q2 2021, putting aside eBay's headwind, PayPal's revenue would have been up 32% y/y. Given that eBay will have migrated to its own payment solutions by Q4 2021, investors won't have to be patient too long until PayPal is once again reporting strong revenue growth rates.
\n
Indeed, asides from eBay there's a lot to be attracted to here.
\n
PayPal's Diverse Product Portfolio in 2021
\n
The biggest launch during the quarter was Zettle in the U.S. This is a digital point-of-sale card payment solution. Although it arrives into a very crowded space arguably a little late in the game.
\n
Having said that, Venmo was also a latecomer to the digital wallet space and that hasn't stopped Venmo's performance in Q2 2021 growing its total payment volume by 58% y/y to $58 billion. This translated into Venmo increasing its revenues by 70% y/y.
\n
Venmo's performance during Q2 2021 was driven by robust crypto trading on the platform.
\n
Also, PayPal's Buy Now, Pay Later is resonating with consumers and merchants with momentum accelerating sequentially from Q1 2021 to Q2 by 50%.
\n
Altogether, despite investing in different products launches, PayPal still generates strong free cash flows.
\n
PayPal is a Free Cash Flow Machine
\n

\n
During Q2 2021, PayPal's free cash flow was down 33% y/y to $1 billion. Obviously, when taken together with its lackluster top-line growth rate during Q2 2021 this doesn't paint a particularly impressive picture of PayPal's performance.
\n
On the other hand, consistent with its previous two quarters, PayPal once more reaffirmed its free cash flow guidance for $5 billion in 2021. Demonstrating that aside from the impact of eBay's migration, PayPal's free cash flow performance in 2021 remains unchanged from the start of the year.
\n
Valuation - Not Expensively Valued
\n
High-quality stocks rarely come cheaply towards the end of a very long bull market.
\n
In a market where many companies are highly unprofitable and with middle-of-the-road revenue growth rates, PayPal is not only growing by 20% CAGR this year, but it's expected to grow at an even faster ratenext year, while also generating ample free cash flow.
\n
There aren't too many companies out there as entrenched as PayPal in fintech priced at 74x free cash flow.
\n
On the surface, this may appear expensive, but readers should keep in mind that this is free cash flows and not a sales multiple.
\n
Meanwhile, for context, on a sales multiple, PayPal trades at 13x sales.
\n
The Bottom Line
\n
PayPal's Q3 guidance took many investors by surprise, particularly given that this blue-chip household name rarely misfires. However, its underlying performance remains very strong.
\n
Given its strong free cash flow generation, and approximately mid-20s% CAGR expected next year, I believe that this stock is cheaply valued at just 13x sales.
\n
However, since there are so many high-growth small-cap stocks that are now heavily into correction territory, I believe that there are even better investment opportunities elsewhere.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
PayPal: Looking Beyond eBay's Impact
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nPayPal: Looking Beyond eBay's Impact\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-07-29 20:43 GMT+8 seekingalpha\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Summary\n\nPayPal's Q3 2021 guidance took investors by surprise.\nPayPal contends that asides from eBay Marketplace's migration off PayPal, its underlying business is performing very strongly.\nPayPal is ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"PYPL":"PayPal"},"source_url":"https://seekingalpha.com/article/4442390-paypal-q2-2021-earnings-results-looking-beyond-ebay-impact","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1198546715","content_text":"Summary\n\nPayPal's Q3 2021 guidance took investors by surprise.\nPayPal contends that asides from eBay Marketplace's migration off PayPal, its underlying business is performing very strongly.\nPayPal is priced at 13x sales. Having said that, the elephant in the room is that Q2 2021 saw just 19% y/y revenue growth rates.\nGiven that during Q1 its revenue had just grown by its fastest rate in PayPal's history, investors were minimally expecting PayPal to continue that momentum and shine this quarter. So 22% revenue growth for 5 percentage points of benefit from eBay. This year in the second quarter, we grew revenue 19% and that number included 800 or 8 percentage points of headwind related to eBay's business.\n\nLooking ahead, PayPal highlighted during the call that by year-end, eBay's total payment volume (''TPV'') will account for just 2.5% of PayPal TPV by year-end.\nWhat's more, during Q2 2021, putting aside eBay's headwind, PayPal's revenue would have been up 32% y/y. Given that eBay will have migrated to its own payment solutions by Q4 2021, investors won't have to be patient too long until PayPal is once again reporting strong revenue growth rates.\nIndeed, asides from eBay there's a lot to be attracted to here.\nPayPal's Diverse Product Portfolio in 2021\nThe biggest launch during the quarter was Zettle in the U.S. This is a digital point-of-sale card payment solution. Although it arrives into a very crowded space arguably a little late in the game.\nHaving said that, Venmo was also a latecomer to the digital wallet space and that hasn't stopped Venmo's performance in Q2 2021 growing its total payment volume by 58% y/y to $58 billion. This translated into Venmo increasing its revenues by 70% y/y.\nVenmo's performance during Q2 2021 was driven by robust crypto trading on the platform.\nAlso, PayPal's Buy Now, Pay Later is resonating with consumers and merchants with momentum accelerating sequentially from Q1 2021 to Q2 by 50%.\nAltogether, despite investing in different products launches, PayPal still generates strong free cash flows.\nPayPal is a Free Cash Flow Machine\n\nDuring Q2 2021, PayPal's free cash flow was down 33% y/y to $1 billion. Obviously, when taken together with its lackluster top-line growth rate during Q2 2021 this doesn't paint a particularly impressive picture of PayPal's performance.\nOn the other hand, consistent with its previous two quarters, PayPal once more reaffirmed its free cash flow guidance for $5 billion in 2021. Demonstrating that aside from the impact of eBay's migration, PayPal's free cash flow performance in 2021 remains unchanged from the start of the year.\nValuation - Not Expensively Valued\nHigh-quality stocks rarely come cheaply towards the end of a very long bull market.\nIn a market where many companies are highly unprofitable and with middle-of-the-road revenue growth rates, PayPal is not only growing by 20% CAGR this year, but it's expected to grow at an even faster ratenext year, while also generating ample free cash flow.\nThere aren't too many companies out there as entrenched as PayPal in fintech priced at 74x free cash flow.\nOn the surface, this may appear expensive, but readers should keep in mind that this is free cash flows and not a sales multiple.\nMeanwhile, for context, on a sales multiple, PayPal trades at 13x sales.\nThe Bottom Line\nPayPal's Q3 guidance took many investors by surprise, particularly given that this blue-chip household name rarely misfires. However, its underlying performance remains very strong.\nGiven its strong free cash flow generation, and approximately mid-20s% CAGR expected next year, I believe that this stock is cheaply valued at just 13x sales.\nHowever, since there are so many high-growth small-cap stocks that are now heavily into correction territory, I believe that there are even better investment opportunities elsewhere.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":417,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":876999094,"gmtCreate":1637247740983,"gmtModify":1637247741160,"author":{"id":"3575279398688498","authorId":"3575279398688498","name":"GreenMilkTea","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8b6b3811d290a0e0acb7082a9fefefd7","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3575279398688498","idStr":"3575279398688498"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good to know😊","listText":"Good to know😊","text":"Good to know😊","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/876999094","repostId":"1134370675","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1134370675","pubTimestamp":1637231436,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1134370675?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-11-18 18:30","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Forget Nvidia.
