stocks with market caps greater than $300 million have more than doubled so far in 2021. Let's look at some that can do it again this year.","content":"
Last year is a hard act to follow for most investors, but there are already nearly 100 U.S. exchange-listed stocks with market caps above $300 million that have more than doubled in 2021. It will be a challenge for most of them to hold on to their scintillating gains, but let's look at some of the names that could just be getting started.
\n
Upstart Holdings (NASDAQ:UPST), Funko (NASDAQ:FNKO), and AMC Entertainment Holdings (NYSE:AMC) have the right ingredients to keep the gains coming. Let's look to see why these three stocks could double again in 2021.
\n
\n
Upstart
\n
Loaning money to folks with less than stellar credit scores has historically been a recipe for disaster, but it's also a niche that Upstart is upending by using artificial intelligence to make better bets on the underserved in the personal lending market. Upstart saw its revenue climb 42% last year, and things are about to get even better.
\n
Its guidance calls for revenue to soar 115% this year. An acquisition that should close in June for Prodigy Software will find it expanding its business into the auto loan market, which is ripe for an AI-fueled disruptor. More data to munch will naturally make the tech-savvy company even smarter.
\n
The stock isn't cheap after nearly tripling this young year. Analysts doubled their forward profit targets after last month's blowout report, but we still find Upstart trading for more than 200 times this year's projected earnings and over 100 times next year's forecast. Triple-digit earnings multiples aren't the norm in the stodgy financial services game. But with the stock already more than 30% below its March high, this is a good opportunity to pick up a company that is about to step hard on the accelerator pedal in the latter half of this year.
\n
Funko
\n
Your collection of Funko vinyl figures and bobbleheads isn't a passing fad. The stock has more than doubled this year on the strength of a surprising financial turnaround and its decision to hop on a hot digital craze.
\n
Funko was posting double-digit annual revenue growth for at least four years before the pandemic shriveled up demand for its licensed collectibles. Revenue plummeted 18% for all of 2020, but analysts weren't expecting sales growth to turn positive over the holidays. The $226.5 million it posted on the top line for the fourth quarter was just a 6% year-over-year increase, but Wall Street pros were bracing for an 8% decline. Weak international sales were lifted by a head-turning 18% surge in the U.S. market. Funko's quarterly profit of $0.24 a share also blew past the $0.14 that analysts were targeting.
\n
The next step up for Funko came when it announced a deal to acquire a majority stake in TokenHead, a leading platform for showcasing and tracking non-fungible tokens (NFTs). TokenHead's flagship TokenWave app attracts more than 100,000 daily visitors checking out its listings of more than 10 million blockchain-backed tokens. With stimulus checks already being earmarked for more Funko keepsakes, the company is now in prime position to be a major player in digital collectible assets.
\n
AMC Entertainment
\n
Upstart and Funko are two companies in the early stages of growth spurts, but AMC is one that most investors associate with the endgame for a fading industry. Even before the pandemic, folks were shying away from a night at the movies. AMC revenue was flat in 2019, and that was with the country's leading multiplex operator gaining market share as domestic box office receipts declined 5% that year.
\n
The pandemic has been brutal to AMC and its smaller peers, and the near-term outlook is hairy. Consumers and movie studios have embraced digital delivery, and neither party has the patience for traditional theatrical-release windows where content would be shown exclusively on the big screen for a couple of months before hitting other distribution platforms.
\n
However, we have seen movie theater crowds surge in international markets that are further along the COVID-19-tackling curve. It will be a challenge for most of them to hold on to their scintillating gains, but let's look at some of the names that could just be getting started.\nUpstart Holdings (NASDAQ:UPST), Funko (NASDAQ:FNKO), and AMC Entertainment Holdings (NYSE:AMC) have the right ingredients to keep the gains coming. Let's look to see why these three stocks could double again in 2021.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nUpstart\nLoaning money to folks with less than stellar credit scores has historically been a recipe for disaster, but it's also a niche that Upstart is upending by using artificial intelligence to make better bets on the underserved in the personal lending market. Upstart saw its revenue climb 42% last year, and things are about to get even better.\nIts guidance calls for revenue to soar 115% this year. An acquisition that should close in June for Prodigy Software will find it expanding its business into the auto loan market, which is ripe for an AI-fueled disruptor. More data to munch will naturally make the tech-savvy company even smarter.\nThe stock isn't cheap after nearly tripling this young year. Analysts doubled their forward profit targets after last month's blowout report, but we still find Upstart trading for more than 200 times this year's projected earnings and over 100 times next year's forecast. Triple-digit earnings multiples aren't the norm in the stodgy financial services game. But with the stock already more than 30% below its March high, this is a good opportunity to pick up a company that is about to step hard on the accelerator pedal in the latter half of this year.\nFunko\nYour collection of Funko vinyl figures and bobbleheads isn't a passing fad. The stock has more than doubled this year on the strength of a surprising financial turnaround and its decision to hop on a hot digital craze.\nFunko was posting double-digit annual revenue growth for at least four years before the pandemic shriveled up demand for its licensed collectibles. Weak international sales were lifted by a head-turning 18% surge in the U.S. market. Funko's quarterly profit of $0.24 a share also blew past the $0.14 that analysts were targeting.\nThe next step up for Funko came when it announced a deal to acquire a majority stake in TokenHead, a leading platform for showcasing and tracking non-fungible tokens (NFTs). TokenHead's flagship TokenWave app attracts more than 100,000 daily visitors checking out its listings of more than 10 million blockchain-backed tokens. With stimulus checks already being earmarked for more Funko keepsakes, the company is now in prime position to be a major player in digital collectible assets.\nAMC Entertainment\nUpstart and Funko are two companies in the early stages of growth spurts, but AMC is one that most investors associate with the endgame for a fading industry. Even before the pandemic, folks were shying away from a night at the movies. AMC revenue was flat in 2019, and that was with the country's leading multiplex operator gaining market share as domestic box office receipts declined 5% that year.\nThe pandemic has been brutal to AMC and its smaller peers, and the near-term outlook is hairy. Consumers and movie studios have embraced digital delivery, and neither party has the patience for traditional theatrical-release windows where content would be shown exclusively on the big screen for a couple of months before hitting other distribution platforms.\nHowever, we have seen movie theater crowds surge in international markets that are further along the COVID-19-tackling curve. With 99% of AMC locations now open, studios are ready to trust exhibitors with hot products that they've been delaying during the lull. With an industry shakeout already eliminating some of its competition, AMC is going to have a big summer this year as folks begin to rediscover social settings.\nUpstart, Funko, and AMC Entertainment have more than doubled in 2021. The catalysts are there to potentially make them double again before the year is done.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":327,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":357769122,"gmtCreate":1617302142866,"gmtModify":1631886377613,"author":{"id":"3573195863338760","authorId":"3573195863338760","name":"roadtoabilly","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/beb7f54a4010b0964d99563c43e76423","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3573195863338760","authorIdStr":"3573195863338760"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"<a Street","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2121457670","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Retail investors could lose a boatload of money from these highly popular stocks.","content":"
It's possible that when the curtain closes on 2021, it'll be remembered as the year of the retail investor.

Since March 2020, we've seen a big uptick in the number of millennials who've put their money to work in the stock market. Online investing app Robinhood, which is known for its commission-free trading platform and gifting of free shares of stock to new users, attracted 3 million new members last year. That's noteworthy given the average age of Robinhood's user base is only 31.

On one hand, it's great to see young investors who have time as their ally putting money to work in the world's greatest wealth creator. On the other hand, quite a few of these young investors aren't thinking long term. Rather, they're caught up in the recent retail investor-fueled Reddit frenzy and looking to get rich quick.

The problem with the get-rich-quick strategy is that it rarely works -- and Wall Street knows it.

At the moment, there are four widely held stocks on Robinhood that, according to Wall Street's one-year consensus price targets, are expected to lose at least half their value, if not more. If these analyst estimates prove accurate, these dangerous Robinhood stocks could cost unsuspecting retail investors a boatload of money.

GameStop: Implied downside of 93%

Perhaps it's no surprise that the riskiest Robinhood stock of all is the company that started the Reddit frenzy, GameStop (NYSE:GME). Shares of the video game and accessories company are up nearly 4,700% over the past year, but offer 93% downside, if Wall Street's consensus is correct.

What made GameStop such a popular company to own among retail investors was its high short interest. Entering January, no public company had a higher percentage of shares held short, relative to its float. Because of this short interest, a flood of buyers were able to execute an epic short squeeze.

Unfortunately, most of the Reddit rally stocks have poor underlying fundamentals and/or a dubious long-term outlook. When it comes to GameStop, its biggest issue was waiting too long to focus on digital gaming. Even with its renewed focus on e-commerce, total sales for the company declined, once again, during the most recent holiday season. Further, GameStop is almost certainly staring down its fourth consecutive annual loss in 2021.

If there is some good news here, it's that GameStop isn't a lost cause. Eventually, it'll close enough stores to reduce its expenses to the point where it's profitable again. But there's a big difference between growth with a profit and backpedaling into a profit. GameStop is doing the latter, which is what has Wall Street rightly concerned.

AMC Entertainment: Implied downside of 75%

Movie theater chain AMC Entertainment (NYSE:AMC), which has risen in lockstep with GameStop for much of the past two months, is also on Wall Street's naughty list. Putting aside the $0.01 price target recently issued by one analyst, the Wall Street consensus is that AMC will lose three-quarters of its value over the next year.

AMC's outperformance over the past two months has to do with Reddit traders piling into the company, as well as folks betting on the reopening trade. AMC recently announced that 99% of its theaters would be open by March 26.

However, this optimism looks highly flawed. Many of the company's theaters are still facing capacity restrictions, and there are no guarantees that the coronavirus pandemic will officially end in 2021. New variants of the disease, along with vaccine holdouts, threaten to push herd immunity and a return to normal further down the road.

The company's solvency is also a potential concern. Even with more than $1 billion in cash on hand, Wall Street is expecting AMC to lose more than $1.7 billion, total, over the next two years. This implies the need to issue more dilutive stock or more debt.

As the icing on the cake, AMC is also losing some of its new release exclusivity to streaming service providers. At long last, the movie theater industry is being disrupted -- but that's not a good thing for AMC.

Riot Blockchain: Implied downside of 54%

Wall Street also views cryptocurrency mining stock Riot Blockchain (NASDAQ:RIOT) as a dangerous investment. The 76th most-held stock on Robinhood is projected to lose 54% of its value over the next year, according to analysts on Wall Street.

Riot Blockchain's incredible outperformance in recent months can be tied to the rally in Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC), the world's largest digital currency. As a cryptocurrency miner, Riot uses high-powered computers to validate groups of transactions (known as blocks) on Bitcoin's network. For validating blocks, Riot is given a block reward totaling 6.25 Bitcoin (worth about $365,000). In short, the higher Bitcoin goes, the more these block rewards are worth.

While this sounds like a pretty straightforward investment, it's not that simple. For example, the asset Riot is \"mining\" has had three separate instances over the past decade where it's lost at least 80% of its value. It's not clear if mining companies could survive such a protracted downtrend in Bitcoin.

It's equally concerning that Riot Blockchain's future is entirely tethered to the performance of Bitcoin. This is an operating model that's pretty much devoid of innovation and is constantly facing a growing number of competitors. Add on the halving of Bitcoin's block rewards every couple of years, and I believe there's more than enough incentive to stay far away from Riot Blockchain.

Sundial Growers: Implied downside of 54%

Finally, Wall Street views the fourth most-held Robinhood stock, Sundial Growers (NASDAQ:SNDL), as trouble. Shares of Canadian marijuana stock Sundial are higher by more than 900% since late October.

Similar to GameStop and AMC, Sundial and its high short interest have benefited from the Reddit frenzy. Investors also appear to be betting on the U.S. legalizing cannabis at the federal level. Doing so would allow Canadian marijuana stocks like Sundial to enter the far more lucrative U.S. weed market.

But if there's something tenured investors are very familiar with, it's the idea that all next-big-thing investments have losers. Online investing app Robinhood, which is known for its commission-free trading platform and gifting of free shares of stock to new users, attracted 3 million new members last year. That's noteworthy given the average age of Robinhood's user base is only 31.On one hand, it's great to see young investors who have time as their ally putting money to work in the world's greatest wealth creator. On the other hand, quite a few of these young investors aren't thinking long term. Rather, they're caught up in the recent retail investor-fueled Reddit frenzy and looking to get rich quick. The problem with the get-rich-quick strategy is that it rarely works -- and Wall Street knows it.Image source: Getty Images. At the moment, there are four widely held stocks on Robinhood that, according to Wall Street's one-year consensus price targets, are expected to lose at least half their value, if not more. If these analyst estimates prove accurate, these dangerous Robinhood stocks could cost unsuspecting retail investors a boatload of money.GameStop: Implied downside of 93%Perhaps it's no surprise that the riskiest Robinhood stock of all is the company that started the Reddit frenzy, GameStop (NYSE:GME). Because of this short interest, a flood of buyers were able to execute an epic short squeeze.Unfortunately, most of the Reddit rally stocks have poor underlying fundamentals and/or a dubious long-term outlook. When it comes to GameStop, its biggest issue was waiting too long to focus on digital gaming. Even with its renewed focus on e-commerce, total sales for the company declined, once again, during the most recent holiday season. Further, GameStop is almost certainly staring down its fourth consecutive annual loss in 2021.If there is some good news here, it's that GameStop isn't a lost cause. Eventually, it'll close enough stores to reduce its expenses to the point where it's profitable again. But there's a big difference between growth with a profit and backpedaling into a profit. GameStop is doing the latter, which is what has Wall Street rightly concerned.Image source: Getty Images.AMC Entertainment: Implied downside of 75%Movie theater chain AMC Entertainment (NYSE:AMC), which has risen in lockstep with GameStop for much of the past two months, is also on Wall Street's naughty list. Putting aside the $0.01 price target recently issued by one analyst, the Wall Street consensus is that AMC will lose three-quarters of its value over the next year.AMC's outperformance over the past two months has to do with Reddit traders piling into the company, as well as folks betting on the reopening trade. AMC recently announced that 99% of its theaters would be open by March 26.However, this optimism looks highly flawed. This implies the need to issue more dilutive stock or more debt.As the icing on the cake, AMC is also losing some of its new release exclusivity to streaming service providers. At long last, the movie theater industry is being disrupted -- but that's not a good thing for AMC.Image source: Getty Images.Riot Blockchain: Implied downside of 54%Wall Street also views cryptocurrency mining stock Riot Blockchain (NASDAQ:RIOT) as a dangerous investment. The 76th most-held stock on Robinhood is projected to lose 54% of its value over the next year, according to analysts on Wall Street.Riot Blockchain's incredible outperformance in recent months can be tied to the rally in Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC), the world's largest digital currency. Add on the halving of Bitcoin's block rewards every couple of years, and I believe there's more than enough incentive to stay far away from Riot Blockchain.Image source: Getty Images.Sundial Growers: Implied downside of 54%Finally, Wall Street views the fourth most-held Robinhood stock, Sundial Growers (NASDAQ:SNDL), as trouble. Shares of Canadian marijuana stock Sundial are higher by more than 900% since late October.Similar to GameStop and AMC, Sundial and its high short interest have benefited from the Reddit frenzy. Even though marijuana is expected to be one of the fastest-growing industries this decade, Sundial hasn't demonstrated anything from an operational perspective to suggest that it'd be a winner. One thing Sundial has done successfully is drown its existing investors in a sea of new shares. In a roughly five-month span, the company issued more than 1.15 billion shares via at-the-market offerings, registered direct offerings, and debt-to-equity swaps. Retail investors are quick to point to Sundial's mountain of new cash raised as a positive, but fail to see how the company's massive share count will cripple its potential for a long time to come. With it looking less likely that the U.S. federal government will change its tune on cannabis at the federal level, and Sundial delivering ongoing losses and mediocre sales growth, it qualifies as the No. 1 pot stock worth avoiding.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":159,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":350309242,"gmtCreate":1616156810086,"gmtModify":1631888481495,"author":{"id":"3573195863338760","authorId":"3573195863338760","name":"roadtoabilly","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/beb7f54a4010b0964d99563c43e76423","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3573195863338760","authorIdStr":"3573195863338760"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Plug Power(PLUG)$next week fly?","listText":"$Plug Power(PLUG)$next week fly?","text":"$Plug Power(PLUG)$next week fly?","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8ead725e1e328b89ef5a9c2921ce20e6","width":"1242","height":"2151"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/350309242","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":692,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":327880874,"gmtCreate":1616076200298,"gmtModify":1634527360283,"author":{"id":"3573195863338760","authorId":"3573195863338760","name":"roadtoabilly","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/beb7f54a4010b0964d99563c43e76423","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3573195863338760","authorIdStr":"3573195863338760"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"do opposite of motley fool = profit","listText":"do opposite of motley fool = profit","text":"do opposite of motley fool = profit","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/327880874","repostId":"1142227040","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1142227040","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1616070253,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1142227040?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-03-18 20:24","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 Biotech Stocks to Avoid Right Now","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1142227040","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Here's why these attention-grabbing stocks could be toxic to your portfolio.\n\nDid you know that newb","content":"
\n Here's why these attention-grabbing stocks could be toxic to your portfolio.\n
\n
Did you know that newbiotech stocksgo public at a rate of about one per week? Unfortunately, the company hasn't been able to show RTX-240 expanded these tumor-fighting cells for the patients who responded.\nLooking forward\nAll of these companies have huge market valuations right now that could come crashing down if their lead programs can't deliver. That's because there's nearly nothing for them to fall back on.\nOcugen doesn't have any potential new drugs in clinical trials right now, and it's going to be a long time before we know if the gene therapies it intends to develop have a shot at success. Cassava Sciences has a potential new test for biomarkers that could indicate Alzheimer's disease, but simufilam is the only clinical-stage new drug candidate in its pipeline.\nRubius Therapeutics is developing a platform of red-blood-cell-based treatments, and the company already has a second candidate cleared by the FDA to begin clinical trials. If any of these companies has a fallback if its lead candidate doesn't work out, it's Rubius. That said, it's still way too risky to consider putting in your portfolio at the moment.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":263,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":325425124,"gmtCreate":1615918519668,"gmtModify":1703495065912,"author":{"id":"3573195863338760","authorId":"3573195863338760","name":"roadtoabilly","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/beb7f54a4010b0964d99563c43e76423","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3573195863338760","authorIdStr":"3573195863338760"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$🚀🚀🚀","listText":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$🚀🚀🚀","text":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$🚀🚀🚀","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/7024feb9c880935d6c97f44c027d07cf","width":"1242","height":"2151"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":1,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/325425124","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":219,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":325498248,"gmtCreate":1615910442384,"gmtModify":1703494988439,"author":{"id":"3573195863338760","authorId":"3573195863338760","name":"roadtoabilly","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/beb7f54a4010b0964d99563c43e76423","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3573195863338760","authorIdStr":"3573195863338760"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"price target $200","listText":"price target $200","text":"price target $200","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/325498248","repostId":"2119976011","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"2119976011","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1615907460,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2119976011?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-03-16 23:11","market":"us","language":"en","title":"AMC Entertainment Stock: Next Stop: $2?","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2119976011","media":"Rick Munarriz","summary":"Another analyst puts out a bearish note on the multiplex operator, and it calls for an 86% plunge from here.","content":"
Most Wall Street pros are still skeptical of the recent rally in shares of AMC Entertainment Holdings (NYSE:AMC). The stock has soared 74% over the past six trading days after several bullish developments, closing above $14 on Monday. The highest of the seven leading analyst firms with a price goal for the stock is currently at $7 for AMC Entertainment. In other words, even the most upbeat of Wall Street pros sees the stock shedding more than half its value in the near future.
\n

\n
\n
Traders and analysts are watching two different movies
\n
A lot of different stories are screening at a multiplex at the same time, and we're seeing that here. Bulls think that pent-up demand will bring moviegoers back to the local theater, and they're backed by encouraging trends we're seeing in Asia and other markets that are further along on the COVID-19 recovery curve. Bazinet's updated note at Citi points out how AMC has enough liquidity on its hands to make it through the end of this year, but that's also part of the problem. Bazinet is updating his model after a rough fourth quarter and the impact that AMC's capital raising has had on stretching the stock's valuation.
\n
AMC commanded an enterprise value of $10.9 billion at the end of 2019. This was after a decent year at the box office with a lot of prolific blockbusters and no fears of a crushing pandemic on the horizon. We're at $17.4 billion in enterprise value as of Monday's close. There are even more question marks now after most media stocks are rallying on the strength of their digital direct-to-consumer movies. Theatrical distribution windows are being disrupted, and this should weigh on how popular movie theaters are at the other end of this pandemic.
\n
The bullish counter here is that AMC is in better shape than it was before the COVID-19 crisis. There will be a shake-out of weaker multiplex operators, and AMC will be able to gain market share by either scooping up bankrupted competition for pennies on the dollar or just letting the weaker peers falter.
\n
We're also seeing AMC getting back to full strength with the opening of California theaters this week following New York City's restart earlier this month. With vaccination rates improving exponentially, we could see capacity restrictions (and more importantly the reluctance of Hollywood studios to put out new tentpole releases) ease up heading into the peak summer season.
\n
AMC has become the ultimate battleground stock. Each side can afford to at least listen to what the other camp is saying. Bulls convinced that bearish analysts are just in the pockets of hedge funds with their bleak outlooks are missing the point. Wall Street pros have more to gain with a healthy AMC, which would need these firms as underwriters to raise debt and equity to take advantage of the rival rubble. Bears convinced that AMC is going under are missing out on the scenario where the country's largest multiplex operator will gain market share.
\n
AMC has also made the most of the lull to beef up its tech for reserved seating and mobile ordering, as well as introducing screen rentals to give its business model new revenue streams. stocks.","content":"

1 pot stock worth avoiding.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
4 Dangerous Robinhood Stocks That Could Lose 50% or More, According to Wall Street
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n4 Dangerous Robinhood Stocks That Could Lose 50% or More, According to Wall Street\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-03-24 22:57 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
It's possible that when the curtain closes on 2021, it'll be remembered as the year of the retail investor.Since March 2020, we've seen a big uptick in the number of millennials who've put their money...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"AMC":"AMC院线","SNDL":"SNDL Inc.","GME":"游戏驿站","RIOT":"Riot Platforms"},"source_url":"https://www.fool.com/investing/2021/03/24/4-dangerous-robinhood-stocks-lose-50-wall-street/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"2121457670","content_text":"It's possible that when the curtain closes on 2021, it'll be remembered as the year of the retail investor.Since March 2020, we've seen a big uptick in the number of millennials who've put their money to work in the stock market. Before following the crowd, though, you should know that there are potholes along these companies' paths to success.
\n
1. Cassava Sciences
\n
This company's developing a potential new Alzheimer's disease drug called simufilam. In the U.S., 1 in 9 people over the age of 65 have Alzheimer's disease, but there still aren't any available treatments for this progressive and ultimately fatal disease. As the first, simufilam could become one of the top-selling drugs of its time.
\n
Following a successful phase 2 trial, Cassava Sciences told investors the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gave the green light for a pair of phase 3 trials slated to begin in the second half of the year. If simufilam succeeds at both, shares of this biotech could explode higher.
\n
Unfortunately, Cassava Sciences has been developing simufilam for over a decade and it still doesn't have any evidence from a randomized controlled trial that simufilam works as intended.
\n
The company included a placebo group in a smallphase 2study that read out last year, but simufilam failed to reduce signs of inflammation that show up in fluid that bathes the brain. Investigators also gave Alzheimer's disease patients cognitive tests to see if simufilam actually made a difference, but they couldn't measure an improvement.
\n
2. The vaccine's developer, Bharat Biotech, is a well-established vaccine manufacturer headquartered in India.
\n
Bharat Biotech has hired Ocugen to co-develop Covaxin for the U.S. market, and it looks like a winner. With so many investment options in this space to choose from, it's a little surprising that some of the most popular companies right now haven't had much success when it comes to drug development.\nEvery business has a story to tell, and plenty of investors like what they've been hearing from these three. Before following the crowd, though, you should know that there are potholes along these companies' paths to success.\n1. Cassava Sciences\nThis company's developing a potential new Alzheimer's disease drug called simufilam. In the U.S., 1 in 9 people over the age of 65 have Alzheimer's disease, but there still aren't any available treatments for this progressive and ultimately fatal disease. As the first, simufilam could become one of the top-selling drugs of its time.\nFollowing a successful phase 2 trial, Cassava Sciences told investors the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gave the green light for a pair of phase 3 trials slated to begin in the second half of the year. If simufilam succeeds at both, shares of this biotech could explode higher.\nUnfortunately, Cassava Sciences has been developing simufilam for over a decade and it still doesn't have any evidence from a randomized controlled trial that simufilam works as intended.\nThe company included a placebo group in a smallphase 2study that read out last year, but simufilam failed to reduce signs of inflammation that show up in fluid that bathes the brain. Investigators also gave Alzheimer's disease patients cognitive tests to see if simufilam actually made a difference, but they couldn't measure an improvement.\n2. Ocugen\nShares of this clinical-stage drugmaker have been soaring in response to good news for a COVID-19 vaccine called Covaxin. The vaccine's developer, Bharat Biotech, is a well-established vaccine manufacturer headquartered in India.\nBharat Biotech has hired Ocugen to co-develop Covaxin for the U.S. market, and it looks like a winner. In a phase 3 study with over 25,000 volunteers, Covaxin was about 81% effective at preventing COVID-19 infections in India.\nBefore buying any Ocugen shares, you should know that the FDA wasn't willing to consider emergency use authorization requests without data from lots of U.S. trial volunteers when there were zero COVID-19vaccines available. Now that the agency has already authorized three safe and effective options, there's zero chance that Ocugen will sell Covaxin in the U.S. without a new phase 3 trial.\n3. Rubius Therapeutics\nThis clinical-stage biotech is developing new cancer therapies made from a line of red blood cells that can be taken off a shelf and administered as soon as they're prescribed. Shares of Rubius have soared this year, thanks to some tumor shrinkage observed in an early-stage study with a variety of cancer patients taking its lead candidate RTX-240.\nIn an interim assessment of an ascending-dosage trial that had data from 16 volunteers available, two of the patients have responded well to RTX-240 treatment. While this looks like a pretty good result for an interim analysis of an early trial, it's probably too early for anyone at Rubius to begin celebrating. That's because the only confirmed tumor shrinkage presented so far occurred for a patient treated with the lowest dosage tested.\nRubius Therapeutics' red blood cells are engineered to excite and enlist different types of white blood cells to take action against tumors. The company was able to show expansion of natural killer cells and T-cells for eight patients earlier this year. Jason Bazinet at Citi (NYSE: C) put out an updated note on the country's largest multiplex operator on Tuesday, sticking to his sell rating and $2 price target.
\n
There's clearly a disconnect between analysts and AMC's buoyant stock chart. Bazinet at $2 seems low, but he's not even at the bottom of the range among notable market mavens. Eric Handler at MKM Partners put out a $1 price target last month, and Rich Greenfield at LightShed Partners turned heads last week with his call that the stock is heading to $0.01.
\n
The pessimism is thick, but reality is painting a different portrait.

The bulls may want to heed the valuation concerns, but the bears can't dismiss the real fundamental improvements taking place at AMC.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
AMC Entertainment Stock: Next Stop: $2?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nAMC Entertainment Stock: Next Stop: $2?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-03-16 23:11 GMT+8 Rick Munarriz\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Most Wall Street pros are still skeptical of the recent rally in shares of AMC Entertainment Holdings (NYSE:AMC). Theatrical distribution windows are being disrupted, and this should weigh on how popular movie theaters are at the other end of this pandemic.\nThe bullish counter here is that AMC is in better shape than it was before the COVID-19 crisis. There will be a shake-out of weaker multiplex operators, and AMC will be able to gain market share by either scooping up bankrupted competition for pennies on the dollar or just letting the weaker peers falter.\nWe're also seeing AMC getting back to full strength with the opening of California theaters this week following New York City's restart earlier this month. With vaccination rates improving exponentially, we could see capacity restrictions (and more importantly the reluctance of Hollywood studios to put out new tentpole releases) ease up heading into the peak summer season.\nAMC has become the ultimate battleground stock. Bears convinced that AMC is going under are missing out on the scenario where the country's largest multiplex operator will gain market share.\nAMC has also made the most of the lull to beef up its tech for reserved seating and mobile ordering, as well as introducing screen rentals to give its business model new revenue streams. The bulls may want to heed the valuation concerns, but the bears can't dismiss the real fundamental improvements taking place at AMC.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":174,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":322725231,"gmtCreate":1615833623223,"gmtModify":1703493787967,"author":{"id":"3573195863338760","authorId":"3573195863338760","name":"roadtoabilly","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/beb7f54a4010b0964d99563c43e76423","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3573195863338760","authorIdStr":"3573195863338760"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"<a
