Alibaba was down over 2% on 18 Jan 2022 US trading time. Why was this the case? It was announced that US is undertaking a review of Alibaba cloud and for them to assess the potential threat to US security. It was explained that they would like to see if the Chinese authorities will be able to gain access to the data stored in Alibaba Cloud.

If you have been faithfully reading my articles, posts and comments as well as watching my youtube videos, you would note that I have explained that this is no longer just pure Chinese tech regulations impacting on Chinese tech stock prices anymore. In fact if you read my article on the update of Xiaomi, you would realise that Lithuania has recently shared a concern that Xiaomi phones may be having surveillance tools to monitor the data usage by overseas citizens. Nevertheless, German securities subsequently announced that there is no security concern over Xiaomi phone.

This is an interesting yet volatile period. Hopefully, the world will find peace and US will come to accept that China is part of the world and coexist and compete peacefully.
