Jumped 13%+ just ONE day！Will Tesla be worth $2 trillion this year?

$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ Shares of Tesla Inc. (TSLA) surged more than 13% on the first trading day of 2022 after the electric car maker announced a surge in 2021 deliveries. That raises a question: Can it top $2 trillion this year?

Tesla shares closed Monday at $1,199.78, up to $143 a share. As of press time, the stock was trading at $1,209.97. It was slightly lower than its record close of $1,229.91, Set in early November. The S&P 500 was recently up about 0.4%.

I predict Tesla will hit a $2 trillion market capitalization in near the future. At that point, Tesla shares will hit $2,500. Here's why：

• First, the fourth quarter delivery results showcase Tesla's scalability within the electric vehicle (EV) landscape. In EV-land, it's Tesla's world, and everyone else is paying rent at this point. It all comes down to scale, and in this quarter, Tesla definitely flexed their muscle.

• Second, we see massive tailwinds for the company as the China market continues to grow, and new factories near Berlin and Austin come online.

• As Elon Musk said, it's not that difficult to design an EV. It's a lot more difficult to mass-produce an EV profitably. I think that's going to be the challenge that many new entrants, like Rivian$Rivian Automotive, Inc.(RIVN)$, LCID$Lucid Group Inc(LCID)$ and others, will continue to face. So I don't think there's likely to be another company just like Tesla. Instead, the traditional automakers will shift their powertrain and start producing more and more EVs to the point where EVs make up the majority of their sales in a relatively quick time frame within this decade.

Tesla was fifth on the list of companies whose stocks made the biggest contributions to the S&P 500's 2021 total return, which includes dividends. Only Microsoft$Microsoft(MSFT)$ , Alphabet$Alphabet(GOOG)$ , Apple$Apple(AAPL)$ and Nvidia$NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$ contributed more.

Tesla hit $1 trillion in valuation for the first time in October of last year. Monday's Share-price gain built upon a 50% advance for the stock in 2021.
