The Silicon Valley company is working to regain a lead in making the smallest, fastest chips that it has lost in recent years to rivals like Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co and Samsung Electronics Co Ltd .</p>\n<p>While Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger has laid out commercial plans aimed at regaining that lead by 2025, the research work unveiled Saturday gives a look into how Intel plans to compete beyond 2025.</p>\n<p>One of the ways Intel is packing more computing power into chips by stacking up \"tiles\" or \"chiplets\" in three dimensions rather than making chips all as <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> two-dimension piece. Let's see why this should cheer investors.</p>\n<p><b>Proving itself as the retailer of choice again</b></p>\n<p>Mega-retailer Target continues to dominate the U.S. market, and the reason is not a mystery. It comes down to Target's three important strengths: omnichannel capabilities, a commitment to value, and creativity in the distribution process. And it's the way these three ingredients all work together that make the retail chain a force in shopping. It has also renovated stores and built out new store formats to bring it all together. We can see this in the third quarter: store sales increased $3.8 billion and digital sales grew by $3.1 billion. While stores led the way, both segments are now contributing meaningfully to total sales growth.</p>\n<p>As for value, Target has created and expanded several lines of its own brands that mimic top labels in terms of quality and design but offer more affordability.</p>\n<p>The distribution process has also played an important role in the company's ability to effectively grow its digital business. More than 95% of digital orders were filled in-store in Q3, a percentage the company has been able to maintain for the past three quarters. Its mix of same-day options also works together to get products to shoppers faster and cheaper.</p>\n<p>Chief operating officer John Mulligan said in March: \"The ... way we see our costs come down is through the mix. Drive-up, order pick-up, and Shipt all have much better economics ... than shipping from the back of our stores, which also has better economics than shipping from our fulfillment centers.\"</p>\n<p>In September, Target announced a 32% increase in its dividend to $0.90. The stock's yield at its current price is 1.27%. That's the company's 50th consecutive annual dividend increase, and with it Target joined the elite ranks of Dividend Kings.</p>\n<p><b>Still the largest retailer in the U.S.</b></p>\n<p>Walmart also benefited from customers returning to stores in the third quarter. The world's largest retailer posted a 9% year-over-year increase in U.S. comps and raised its full-year outlook to more than 6% growth in sales.</p>\n<p>It's difficult to compete with Walmart's breadth. It operates more than 4,700 stores in the U.S. alone and more than 10,000 worldwide. Yet it's still finding ways to grow. Advertising is becoming a bigger part of its sales strategy.</p>\n<p>The company is also leaning into artificial intelligence to improve its platform, using technology-driven models to offer more competitive services. For example, it's overhauling its last-mile delivery systems, typically a more challenging part of the process since it relies on local shipping agents. It's using a new, data-driven program to spread delivery across more drivers.</p>\n<p>It's also taking on big clients like <b>Home Depot</b>, providing them last-mile delivery service under the client's name. These are the kinds of initiatives that will generate more growth for the mega-retailer as store count becomes a less sustainable way to grow.</p>\n<p>Walmart is also working to generate more organic growth. On the Q3 earnings call, CEO Doug McMillon said, \"Our international markets are building flywheels that have common characteristics with each other -- and with the U.S. -- which helps us innovate and leverage the technology we're building.\"</p>\n<p>Walmart raised its dividend in February to $0.55, and the stock yields 1.5% at its current price. For the period ended Oct. 3, overall revenue increased 31% year over year while comps grew 17%.</p>\n<p>If you already feel like there's a Starbucks on every corner, consider that by 2030 the company is planning to add another 21,000 stores to its nearly 34,000 current locations. Next year alone it has 2,000 new stores planned, up from over 1,100 in 2021 -- and 75% of them outside the U.S.</p>\n<p>The company is also growing in more than store count, cultivating relationships to bring ready-to-drink products like bottled cold brew to a wider resale market through deals with bottlers and other suppliers.</p>\n<p>Although Starbucks' stock price fell after the Q4 report due to supply-chain fears, the company has made aggressive moves to maintain its merchandise supply and meet holiday demand.</p>\n<p>For the full fiscal 2022, management predicts almost 14% sales growth, ahead of its earlier 8% to 10% estimate. The company also said it expects some margin pressure due to wage increases, but anticipates better working conditions to result in improved customer loyalty and higher sales long-term. That's a great focus on the future.</p>\n<p>In September, Starbucks increased its dividend to $0.49, which gives the stock a 1.6% yield at its current price. The head of the largest chip maker by market cap, Huang is fresh off hisvirtual keynote at Nvidia’s GTC conferencewhere he announced advances in the company’s metaverse and AI efforts.</p>\n<p>But Nvidia still makes the bulk of its revenue,about 47% in Q2, from the sale of its gaming cards. And those continue to be in short supply due to the pandemic-induced chip crisis.</p>\n<p>“I think that through the next year, demand is going to far exceed supply. We don’t have any magic bullets in navigating the supply chain,” Huang told Yahoo Finance Live on Wednesday.</p>\n<p>“We have the support of our suppliers. We’re fortunate that we’re multi-sourced and that our supply chain is diverse and our company is quite large so we have the support of a large ecosystem around us,” he added.</p>\n<p>The chip crisis kicked off at the start of the pandemic when automakers, expecting a slowdown in sales, cut their chip orders. But consumers had other plans and started buying up cars in droves. At the same time, consumers, trapped in their homes due to pandemic restrictions, started grabbing everything from workstations and webcams to gaming PCs and game consoles.</p>\n<p>With so many industries vying for attention from the small number of global chip makers, a crunch was all but guaranteed. And it continues to play out now. Try buying an Nvidia graphics card or, heck, a PlayStation 5. If you don’t want to pay hundreds of dollars over the manufacturer’s suggested retail price, you’ll likely be waiting a while.</p>\n<p>The demand has piled up so much that when products do become available, they sell out in an instant. We’re talking about people lined up in parking lots outside of electronics stores hoping to get their hands on a new Nvidia card. I’ve got an Nvidia card in my own gaming computer, but was lucky enough to get it in 2019.</p>\n<p>Of course, Nvidia isn’t the only company contending with the chip shortage. Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger told Yahoo Finance Live last month that he doesn’t expect supply problems to get better until some time in 2023.</p>\n<p>While Huang says the chip shortage will eventually subside, he doesn’t think the level of demand we’re seeing is transitory. Instead, he says it’s here to stay.</p>\n<p>“People are starting to build more and more home workstations because their home is now their office,” Huang said. “And when they’re at home they prefer to have a permanent system, and so desktop computers are doing incredibly well.”</p>\n<p>People are also spending more time gaming, he said, leading to more people trying to get their hands on Nvidia’s high-end graphics cards.</p>\n<p>“I think these are permanent conditions, and we’re going to see new computers being built for quite a while. I think there's going to be a big transition for our society because the internet is faster, quicker, cheaper. I think more and more healthcare is going to shift online and more of this is transforming healthcare. The internet's been around for 20 years, 25 years, but it's still making these changes.</p>\n<p><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/TWOA.U\">Two</a> companies I really love in the telehealth space, <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> of them is Doximity, just came public this year. DOCS is their ticker. Doximity is basically the <b>Facebook</b> of healthcare, the LinkedIn of healthcare. Eighty percent of doctors are on the Doximity platform, 90% of med students are on the Doximity platform. It is a huge networking site for healthcare, for doctors, and they've got three businesses that they run from their website. One is the LinkedIn for people in healthcare looking for jobs, that networking thing. You don't go to Facebook and you don't go to LinkedIn, you go to Doximity because that's where they all are. The other one they do is they do telehealth, so they compete with <b>Teladoc</b> and they actually did a lot more telehealth visits than (Teladoc) over the last year. That's actually why I got into the stock because I was just blown away.</p>\n<p>They rolled out Dialer, it's called Dialer. They rolled it out at the beginning of the COVID pandemic. The doctors on their platform just love Dialer because it allowed them to do telehealth through that network with their actual patients. It protected them, protected their privacy so the patients couldn't call them in the middle of the night or anything. That was the other one. Then of course, the third business is having that Facebook-type business where pharmaceutical companies and other people can reach doctors and other healthcare professionals. The advertising business, monetizing all those medical eyeballs. That's a big part of Doximity's plan.</p>\n<p>OptimizeRX is another much smaller company in the telehealth space, which I own both of these to give you just a warning, I guess, about my own bias. But I love both of these stocks. Optimize is a lot smaller, but they're focused in a different area that Doximity is not. OptimizeRX is focused on electronic health records. Electronic health records are those things your doctor's looking at when he's looking at his iPad. All your health records are going to be online pretty much, but there is no <b>Microsoft</b> in this area. There are like 500 or 600 software providers or a thousand. There's just a ton of little ones. OptimizeRX is putting together an entire network. They put it together. I think it's like 60% or 70% of doctors is their reach in that electronic health network. The idea is maybe to give a little link to a Harvard study when the doctor is looking at his notes about this new drugs so that the pharmaceutical companies can reach a doctor in the course of this workflow without interrupting his workflow and bring new -- because doctors always have to get update on new things, new studies, new drugs, new stuff. Optimize is a specialist at that. And I thought, wow, these two companies would really fit into the Doximity wheelhouse because it's all about connection, and healthcare connection, and reaching doctors. That would be my suggestion.</p>\n<p>But I agree with you, I don't know if anybody listens to me, [laughs] but both stocks have done actually really well. In fact, OptimizeRx has done better. I think it's about doubled this year. They're still small, I think it's a billion (market cap). It's a tiny company. Doximity is a lot bigger, but they might be a good combo.</p>\n<p><b>Jason Hall:</b> It's interesting because it's one of those spaces that there are just dozens and dozens of companies that do these things. The potential for consolidation is enormous in that whole space. The other one they do is they do telehealth, so they compete with Teladoc and they actually did a lot more telehealth visits than (Teladoc) over the last year. That's actually why I got into the stock because I was just blown away.\nThey rolled out Dialer, it's called Dialer. They rolled it out at the beginning of the COVID pandemic. The doctors on their platform just love Dialer because it allowed them to do telehealth through that network with their actual patients. It protected them, protected their privacy so the patients couldn't call them in the middle of the night or anything. That was the other one. Then of course, the third business is having that Facebook-type business where pharmaceutical companies and other people can reach doctors and other healthcare professionals. The advertising business, monetizing all those medical eyeballs. That's a big part of Doximity's plan.\nOptimizeRX is another much smaller company in the telehealth space, which I own both of these to give you just a warning, I guess, about my own bias. But I love both of these stocks. Optimize is a lot smaller, but they're focused in a different area that Doximity is not. OptimizeRX is focused on electronic health records. Electronic health records are those things your doctor's looking at when he's looking at his iPad. All your health records are going to be online pretty much, but there is no Microsoft in this area. There are like 500 or 600 software providers or a thousand. There's just a ton of little ones. OptimizeRX is putting together an entire network. They put it together. I think it's like 60% or 70% of doctors is their reach in that electronic health network. The idea is maybe to give a little link to a Harvard study when the doctor is looking at his notes about this new drugs so that the pharmaceutical companies can reach a doctor in the course of this workflow without interrupting his workflow and bring new -- because doctors always have to get update on new things, new studies, new drugs, new stuff. Optimize is a specialist at that. And I thought, wow, these two companies would really fit into the Doximity wheelhouse because it's all about connection, and healthcare connection, and reaching doctors. That would be my suggestion.\nBut I agree with you, I don't know if anybody listens to me, [laughs] but both stocks have done actually really well. In fact, OptimizeRx has done better. I think it's about doubled this year. They're still small, I think it's a billion (market cap). It's a tiny company. Doximity is a lot bigger, but they might be a good combo.\nJason Hall: It's interesting because it's one of those spaces that there are just dozens and dozens of companies that do these things. The potential for consolidation is enormous in that whole space.
