implications of a shifting pandemic.
\n
All three U.S. indexes advanced, with investors favoring value over growth, and economically sensitive smallcaps and transports outperforming the broader market.
\n
Of the three, the Dow gained the most, notching its highest one-day percentage gain since March 5, with Boeing Co providing the biggest lift to the blue-chip industrial average.
\n
\"We went 29 days in a row in the S&P 500 without a 1% change, up or down, but boom - Omicron hits and five days we’ve had this blast of volatility,\" said Ryan Detrick, chief market strategist at LPL Financial in Charlotte, North Carolina.
\n
\"After the worst two-day drop in more than a year, we’re finally seeing a bit of a bounce,\" Detrick added. \"Buyers are starting to nibble after the recent weakness and pushed stocks higher, but the uncertainty of Omicron is still out there.\"
\n
As world governments scramble to determine how to respond to the emergent COVID-19 Omicron variant, the United States is set to require private health insurance companies to provide at-home tests, a policy expected to go into effect on Jan. 15.
\n
The Omicron variant has spooked markets for about a week, hitting travel-related stocks particularly hard as a patchwork of new restrictions were enacted around the globe, but those companies were bouncing back in Thursday's session.
\n
The S&P 1500 Airlines and Hotel and Restaurants indexes jumped 7.5% and 3.8%, respectively.
\n
It was the S&P 1500 Airlines index's best one-day performance since Nov. 9, 2020, when Pfizer Inc announced the vaccine it developed with BioNTech was more than 90% effective in preventing COVID-19 infection.
\n
Jobless claims and planned layoffs data provided further evidence that employers are increasingly disinclined to hand out pink slips amid a tight labor market, the result of booming demand colliding with worker scarcity and low labor market participation.
\n
Labor scarcity, combined with stubbornly persistent supply chain constraints, has helped erase the word \"transitory\" from the Federal Reserve's inflation vocabulary as wages and prices continue to rise, and could very well translate into rate hikes coming sooner and faster than many had hoped.
\n
Market participants now train their gaze on the Labor Department's hotly anticipated November employment report, expected on Friday.
\n
\"We're optimistic we’ll have another strong number, suggesting the economy continues to be on very firm footing,\" Detrick added. \"We’re watching wage growth for any hints of potential inflationary worries.\"
\n
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 617.75 points, or 1.82%, to 34,639.79, the S&P 500 gained 64.06 points, or 1.42%, to 4,577.1 and the Nasdaq Composite added 127.27 points, or 0.83%, to 15,381.32.
\n
All 11 major sectors of the S&P 500 closed in positive territory, with industrials, energy and financials enjoying the biggest percentage gains.
\n
Boeing shares had their best day since Feb. 24, jumping 7.5% after China's aviation authority gave its seal of approval the planemaker's 737 MAX aircraft.
\n
Grocery retailer Kroger Co raised its full-year sales and profit forecasts, sending its stock bounding 11% higher.
\n
Consumer credit companies Visa Inc, Mastercard Inc and American Express Co all advanced more than 4%.
\n
Advancing issues outnumbered declining ones on the NYSE by a 2.49-to-1 ratio; on Nasdaq, a 1.79-to-1 ratio favored advancers.
\n
The S&P 500 posted four new 52-week highs and 12 new lows; the Nasdaq Composite recorded 15 new highs and 559 new lows.
\n
Volume on U.S. exchanges was 12.85 billion shares, compared with the 11.40 billion average over the last 20 trading days. Ocugen said it will work to answer any questions the FDA has and resolve the problems as quickly as possible.
\n
However, news that Covaxin’s progress toward approval and commercialization has been stopped has OCGN stock down 10% today to $6.42 per share. Year to date, the stock remains up more than 100%, though most of that gain came in the first quarter. Over the past six months, Ocugen’s share price has actually declined 18%.
\n
What Happened With OCGN Stock
\n
Covaxin is Malvern, Pennsylvania-based Ocugen’s major commercialization candidate. Covaxin was actually developed by Bharat Biotech,an Indian pharmaceutical company that specializes in vaccines. Essentially, Covaxin is the domestically developed Covid-19vaccine in India. Ocugen has been trying to get it approved for use in the U.S. and Canada. However, the FDA has now put a halt to Covaxin’s progress toward receiving approval in America, casting doubts on Ocugen’s strategy and hurting its share price.
\n
That the reasons for the FDA stopping Covaxin’s progress haven’t been made public adds to the uncertainty surrounding Ocugen.
\n
Investors should also note that some critics have called into question Covaxin’slower efficacy against the delta variantcompared to vaccines from Pfizer(NYSE:PFE) and Moderna(NASDAQ:MRNA). However, others have said it is not a problem.
\n
Why It Matters
\n
Ocugen is not your typical biotechnology or pharmaceutical company. It is primarily focused on treating eye diseases and says on its website that its focus is to“cure blindness.”The company jumped on the Covid-19 vaccine train at the outset of the pandemic as the biotech and pharmaceutical industries raced to develop treatments against the deadly illness. However, rather than develop its own vaccine, Ocugen focused on trying to commercialize Covaxin in the U.S. Critics havecalled this strategy into question.
\n
For Ocugen, the FDA halting progress of Covaxin makes it less likely that the Covid-19 vaccine will become available in the U.S. This reality is putting additional pressure on OCGN stock at a time when it was already in decline. While Ocugen’s share price has been as high as $18.77 this year, most of the increases were the result of it being treated as ameme stockby the retail investors. In January of this year, at the height of the meme stock craze, Ocugen’s stock jumped 769% in a matter of days, climbing to $15.81 from just $1.82.
\n
What’s Next for Ocugen
\n
The FDA’s action is bad news for Ocugen as it lessens the likelihood that Covaxin will become commercially available in the U.S. In the near term, OCGN stock is likely to decline further. Beyond good news from regulators, hope rests with retail investors pumping shares up again.
","source":"lsy1606302653667","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
OCGN Stock Alert: The FDA News Sending Ocugen Plummeting Today
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nOCGN Stock Alert: The FDA News Sending Ocugen Plummeting Today\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-11-27 07:30 GMT+8 InvestorPlace\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Shares of biotech company Ocugen(NASDAQ:OCGN) are sharply lower today on news that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has halted its investigational new drug application for Covaxin, a vaccine for ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"OCGN":"Ocugen"},"source_url":"https://investorplace.com/2021/11/ocgn-stock-alert-the-fda-news-sending-ocugen-plummeting-today/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1172242285","content_text":"Shares of biotech company Ocugen(NASDAQ:OCGN) are sharply lower today on news that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has halted its investigational new drug application for Covaxin, a vaccine for Covid-19.\nIn anews release, Ocugen said that the FDA still needs to inform it of the reasons why the Covaxin application has been halted and what the company needs to do to address the issues or deficiencies that have arisen. Critics havecalled this strategy into question.\nFor Ocugen, the FDA halting progress of Covaxin makes it less likely that the Covid-19 vaccine will become available in the U.S. This reality is putting additional pressure on OCGN stock at a time when it was already in decline. While Ocugen’s share price has been as high as $18.77 this year, most of the increases were the result of it being treated as ameme stockby the retail investors. In January of this year, at the height of the meme stock craze, Ocugen’s stock jumped 769% in a matter of days, climbing to $15.81 from just $1.82.\nWhat’s Next for Ocugen\nThe FDA’s action is bad news for Ocugen as it lessens the likelihood that Covaxin will become commercially available in the U.S. In the near term, OCGN stock is likely to decline further. Beyond good news from regulators, hope rests with retail investors pumping shares up again.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":787,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":877175804,"gmtCreate":1637906053450,"gmtModify":1637906053450,"author":{"id":"4100429147076480","authorId":"4100429147076480","name":"QueenAlice","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/84fe6146e57fb9c73c06593efff358c4","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4100429147076480","authorIdStr":"4100429147076480"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like and comment thanks!","listText":"Like and comment thanks!","text":"Like and comment thanks!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/877175804","repostId":"1176673811","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1176673811","pubTimestamp":1637903948,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1176673811?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-11-26 13:19","market":"sg","language":"en","title":"Singapore’s Alleged Nickel Scammer Sued in $377 Million Action","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1176673811","media":"Bloomberg","summary":"Singaporean businessman Ng Yu Zhi, who is at the center of an alleged $1.1 billion nickel trading sc","content":"
Singaporean businessman Ng Yu Zhi, who is at the center of an alleged $1.1 billion nickel trading scam, was sued by the liquidators of his Envy Group for damages totaling about S$517.4 million ($377.3 million), according to a court document.
\n
Three of the Envy companies and the liquidator team led by Bob Yap of KPMG Singapore filed the suit against Ng and three other people on Nov. 19, according to the document, which listed the nature of the case as insolvency.
\n
Ng, 34, faces 69 charges in the case that has riveted Singapore’s moneyed class after his February arrest. As I dug deeper into the business, I gained a deeper appreciation of its sustainable competitive advantages. One of its most significant advantages is the platform ability to attract developers, who create the content and drive revenue growth.
\n
The company's competitive advantage with developers is the main topic we will explore in this article. In addition, we will discuss RBLX's latest earnings, trading & valuation, and risks so readers can reach their own informed decision on the stock.
\n
Please refer to my July 2021 article,Roblox: Enter The Matrix, for a broader discussion of Roblox's business and competitive advantages.
\n
Earnings
\n
We will start by quickly going over the company's latest earnings to level-set everyone before moving to the main topic of considering the company's business fundamentals.
\n
RBLX reported FY Q3 earnings (FY ending Dec) on 11/09/2021, resulting in the stock trading up 42.2% on the day after earnings. The results are one of the biggest rallies of a large-cap stock I have ever witnessed and truly reflects the bear-thesis-busting results.
\n
Revenue grew 28.6% y/y to $638 million, in-line with consensus estimates. Gross margin came in at 75.0%, while operating margin came in at 13.0% compared to 28.6% a year ago. EPS for the quarter was -$0.13.
\n
While, on the surface, results do not appear stellar, there was rising skepticism going into earnings. Short interest as a % of outstanding shares increased steadily since the company's IPO to over 9% before earnings. Skeptical investors believed that Roblox will have difficulty growing due to tough COVID shut-down comps when children had nothing better to do than play video games.
\n
However, the company reported that October bookings were $189 million to $192 million, up 15-16% y/y despite a 3-day outage at the end of the month. In addition, management noted duringthe callthat early November has been consistent with pre-outage trends. This positive update on Q4, in my view, forced many bearish investors to cover their short positions.
\n
The Developer Advantage
\n
Q3 and early Q4 were helped the popularity of Netflix's (NFLX)Squid Games, which developers on the Roblox platform quickly monetized through games of the show. This agility demonstrates the importance of the company's developer community, and the competitive advantages underpinning Roblox's ability to attract them.
\n
Roblox also knows its fate depends on developers, which is why it has - very successfully - courted them. With 10.5 million developers and 27 million user-generated experiences on the platform, Roblox is winning over developers for three primary reasons: low barrier of entry, distribution, and monetization.
\n
Source: November 2021 Roblox Analyst Day
\n
Low Barrier Of Entry
\n
You can't get 10.5 million developers on the Roblox platform if it isn't super easy to develop on it.
\n
Traditional AAA game development is increasingly expensive. On average, it will cost you between $60 million and $80 million to develop and launch an AAA game on the market. Even if you are not aiming for a blockbuster, the traditional game development model can cost millions of dollars to pay for servers, developers, a game engine such as Unreal Engine or Unity, artists, distribution, and more.
\n
However, anyone can get started as a game developer on Roblox Studios with almost no start-up. Developers can focus on making great games, while Roblox takes care of the rest.
\n
Distribution
\n
Compared to AAA titles, Roblox games are not graphics intensive. Although this seems like a negative, it is a source of competitive advantage. Lower graphic intensity allows for streaming on low-end devices, increasing the ecosystem and creating a more inclusive experience. Nearly everyone could access Roblox games through PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, and Chrome OS.
\n
The company has a featured games section and has a recommendation engine to get games in front of its massive 47 million daily active users. In addition, developers could pay to advertise their games on Roblox or market through Twitter, Youtube, Tiktok, and other social media platforms.
\n
Knowing there is a large and ready audience for your game makes game development on Roblox a lot less risky.
\n
Monetization
\n
Developers can make money through Roblox with its Developer Exchange program, or DevEx, which gives developers 25 percent of a game's earnings. 25% is a low payout rate, but the company offers market-leading support and distribution for game developers.
\n
While most of the 10.5 million developers are not making much of anything, the company paid developers $130 million in the second quarter of 2021. Over 600 developers earn over $85,000 a year from their Roblox creations, and one is close to generating $100 million in annual revenue. Developers are also professionalizing by forming companies and getting venture capital.
\n
Trading & Valuation
\n
RBLX is on fire, driven by better-than-expected results and a market that is intensely interested in the metaverse theme. The stock is trading 52.1% above its 200-day moving average, 12% below its 52-week high of $141.60, and 105% above its 52-week low of $60.50 per share. Short interest is high at 6.7%, however, it has been declining since the company posted Q3 earnings results.
\n
Since the company is expected to generate losses over the next several years, we will not value the company on a P/E multiple. Instead, we will focus on the forward 12-month EV/Sales multiple, consistent with how we treat other fast-growing, yet-to-be-profitable companies.
\n
RBLX began trading in March 2021 at 17x EV/Sales, hit a low of 12.8x in October, and is currently trading at 21.7x. At this price, the company is expected to grow sales by 46% in 2021, and by around 20% over the next two years. However, this 20% growth rate strikes me as a conservative estimate given the company's continued strong growth in Q3 despite difficult comps.
\n
While RBLX trades at a significant discount to Unity's (U) 37x EV/Sales, which I covered in a recent article, Unity is expected to grow around 28% in 2022 and 2023, about 8% points higher than RBLX.
\n
However, I believe Roblox is a more differentiated platform than Unity, since Roblox's vast ecosystem is without peer and Unity faces a very tough competitor in Epic's Unreal Engine.
\n
With that said, high valuation and lack of profitability will likely make RBLX too risky for many investors since it is extremely difficult to estimate future earnings for companies at the vanguard of rapid technological innovation.
\n
Risks
\n
The pandemic has been a massive accelerant for the company, but now it faces tough comps and skepticism over its long-term organic growth rate. As the economy reopens, its customers, primary school-aged children, must return to school and may no longer have the time to play 2.6 hours per day on its platform. Although Q3 2021 results were better-than-expected, it was helped bySquid Games, a potentially fleetly benefit. As a result, the company may fail to meet growth expectations.
\n
To sustain long-term growth, RBLX must hold on to customers as they age. Approximately 80% of the company's DAU are under the age of 25, and the brand is closely associated with child play. The company's ability to appeal to adults remains an open question. However, the company has made notable progress towards addressing this concern:
\n
Source: November 2021 Roblox Analyst Day
\n
The company's young user base requires significant investments in safety. The company may face difficulty policing its ecosystem and is at risk of negative headlines. The inability to maintain a safe and trusted ecosystem will likely pressure growth. In addition, as the company becomes viewed more like a social media platform, it could be subject to additional scrutiny.
\n
Making money off of children who are addicted to gaming may experience social backlash. The accusation that the company is profiting from gaming addiction could lower RBLX's ESG score. Some investors may avoid investing in Roblox due to ethical concerns.
\n
Takeaway
\n
One of Roblox's most significant advantages is the platform's ability to attract developers, who create the content and drive revenue growth. With 10.5 million developers and 27 million user-generated experiences on the platform, Roblox is winning over developers for three primary reasons: low barrier of entry, distribution, and monetization. However, the stock has rallied recently to a very high EV/Sales multiple due to better-than-expected Q3 and early Q4 results and intense market interest on the metaverse theme, both of which may be fleeting tailwinds. As a result, although I have great admiration for the company, I will watch from the sidelines for a better tactic entry point.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Roblox Is Winning Because Of Developers
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nRoblox Is Winning Because Of Developers\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-11-26 13:39 GMT+8 Seeking Alpha\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Summary\n\nOne of Roblox's most significant advantages is the platform's ability to attract developers who create the content and drive revenue growth.\nRoblox is winning over developers for three ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"RBLX":"Roblox Corporation"},"source_url":"https://seekingalpha.com/article/4471948-robloxs-is-winning-because-of-developers","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1183391776","content_text":"Summary\n\nOne of Roblox's most significant advantages is the platform's ability to attract developers who create the content and drive revenue growth.\nRoblox is winning over developers for three primary reasons: low barrier of entry, distribution, and monetization.\nHowever, the stock has rallied recently to a very high EV/Sales multiple due to possibly unsustainable factors.\n\nniphon/iStock via Getty Images\nRoblox (RBLX) is one of the most interesting companies I have come across. In addition, we will discuss RBLX's latest earnings, trading & valuation, and risks so readers can reach their own informed decision on the stock.\nPlease refer to my July 2021 article,Roblox: Enter The Matrix, for a broader discussion of Roblox's business and competitive advantages.\nEarnings\nWe will start by quickly going over the company's latest earnings to level-set everyone before moving to the main topic of considering the company's business fundamentals.\nRBLX reported FY Q3 earnings (FY ending Dec) on 11/09/2021, resulting in the stock trading up 42.2% on the day after earnings. The results are one of the biggest rallies of a large-cap stock I have ever witnessed and truly reflects the bear-thesis-busting results.\nRevenue grew 28.6% y/y to $638 million, in-line with consensus estimates. Gross margin came in at 75.0%, while operating margin came in at 13.0% compared to 28.6% a year ago. EPS for the quarter was -$0.13.\nWhile, on the surface, results do not appear stellar, there was rising skepticism going into earnings. Short interest as a % of outstanding shares increased steadily since the company's IPO to over 9% before earnings. Skeptical investors believed that Roblox will have difficulty growing due to tough COVID shut-down comps when children had nothing better to do than play video games.\nHowever, the company reported that October bookings were $189 million to $192 million, up 15-16% y/y despite a 3-day outage at the end of the month. In addition, management noted duringthe callthat early November has been consistent with pre-outage trends. This positive update on Q4, in my view, forced many bearish investors to cover their short positions.\nThe Developer Advantage\nQ3 and early Q4 were helped the popularity of Netflix's (NFLX)Squid Games, which developers on the Roblox platform quickly monetized through games of the show. This agility demonstrates the importance of the company's developer community, and the competitive advantages underpinning Roblox's ability to attract them.\nRoblox also knows its fate depends on developers, which is why it has - very successfully - courted them. With 10.5 million developers and 27 million user-generated experiences on the platform, Roblox is winning over developers for three primary reasons: low barrier of entry, distribution, and monetization.\nSource: November 2021 Roblox Analyst Day\nLow Barrier Of Entry\nYou can't get 10.5 million developers on the Roblox platform if it isn't super easy to develop on it.\nTraditional AAA game development is increasingly expensive. On average, it will cost you between $60 million and $80 million to develop and launch an AAA game on the market. Even if you are not aiming for a blockbuster, the traditional game development model can cost millions of dollars to pay for servers, developers, a game engine such as Unreal Engine or Unity, artists, distribution, and more.\nHowever, anyone can get started as a game developer on Roblox Studios with almost no start-up. Developers can focus on making great games, while Roblox takes care of the rest.\nDistribution\nCompared to AAA titles, Roblox games are not graphics intensive. Although this seems like a negative, it is a source of competitive advantage. Lower graphic intensity allows for streaming on low-end devices, increasing the ecosystem and creating a more inclusive experience. Nearly everyone could access Roblox games through PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, and Chrome OS.\nThe company has a featured games section and has a recommendation engine to get games in front of its massive 47 million daily active users. In addition, developers could pay to advertise their games on Roblox or market through Twitter, Youtube, Tiktok, and other social media platforms.\nKnowing there is a large and ready audience for your game makes game development on Roblox a lot less risky.\nMonetization\nDevelopers can make money through Roblox with its Developer Exchange program, or DevEx, which gives developers 25 percent of a game's earnings. 25% is a low payout rate, but the company offers market-leading support and distribution for game developers.\nWhile most of the 10.5 million developers are not making much of anything, the company paid developers $130 million in the second quarter of 2021. Over 600 developers earn over $85,000 a year from their Roblox creations, and one is close to generating $100 million in annual revenue. Developers are also professionalizing by forming companies and getting venture capital.\nTrading & Valuation\nRBLX is on fire, driven by better-than-expected results and a market that is intensely interested in the metaverse theme. The stock is trading 52.1% above its 200-day moving average, 12% below its 52-week high of $141.60, and 105% above its 52-week low of $60.50 per share. Short interest is high at 6.7%, however, it has been declining since the company posted Q3 earnings results.\nSince the company is expected to generate losses over the next several years, we will not value the company on a P/E multiple. Instead, we will focus on the forward 12-month EV/Sales multiple, consistent with how we treat other fast-growing, yet-to-be-profitable companies.\nRBLX began trading in March 2021 at 17x EV/Sales, hit a low of 12.8x in October, and is currently trading at 21.7x. At this price, the company is expected to grow sales by 46% in 2021, and by around 20% over the next two years. However, this 20% growth rate strikes me as a conservative estimate given the company's continued strong growth in Q3 despite difficult comps.\nWhile RBLX trades at a significant discount to Unity's (U) 37x EV/Sales, which I covered in a recent article, Unity is expected to grow around 28% in 2022 and 2023, about 8% points higher than RBLX.\nHowever, I believe Roblox is a more differentiated platform than Unity, since Roblox's vast ecosystem is without peer and Unity faces a very tough competitor in Epic's Unreal Engine.\nWith that said, high valuation and lack of profitability will likely make RBLX too risky for many investors since it is extremely difficult to estimate future earnings for companies at the vanguard of rapid technological innovation.\nRisks\nThe pandemic has been a massive accelerant for the company, but now it faces tough comps and skepticism over its long-term organic growth rate. As the economy reopens, its customers, primary school-aged children, must return to school and may no longer have the time to play 2.6 hours per day on its platform. Although Q3 2021 results were better-than-expected, it was helped bySquid Games, a potentially fleetly benefit. As a result, the company may fail to meet growth expectations.\nTo sustain long-term growth, RBLX must hold on to customers as they age. Approximately 80% of the company's DAU are under the age of 25, and the brand is closely associated with child play. The company's ability to appeal to adults remains an open question. However, the company has made notable progress towards addressing this concern:\nSource: November 2021 Roblox Analyst Day\nThe company's young user base requires significant investments in safety. The company may face difficulty policing its ecosystem and is at risk of negative headlines. The inability to maintain a safe and trusted ecosystem will likely pressure growth. In addition, as the company becomes viewed more like a social media platform, it could be subject to additional scrutiny.\nMaking money off of children who are addicted to gaming may experience social backlash. The accusation that the company is profiting from gaming addiction could lower RBLX's ESG score. Some investors may avoid investing in Roblox due to ethical concerns.\nTakeaway\nOne of Roblox's most significant advantages is the platform's ability to attract developers, who create the content and drive revenue growth. As a result, although I have great admiration for the company, I will watch from the sidelines for a better tactic entry point.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":937,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":874821074,"gmtCreate":1637760019439,"gmtModify":1637760019439,"author":{"id":"4100429147076480","authorId":"4100429147076480","name":"QueenAlice","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/84fe6146e57fb9c73c06593efff358c4","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4100429147076480","authorIdStr":"4100429147076480"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"That's really sad to hear :(","listText":"That's really sad to hear :(","text":"That's really sad to hear :(","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/874821074","repostId":"1172336330","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1172336330","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1637755599,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1172336330?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-11-24 20:06","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Kura Oncology shares tumbled 40% in premarket trading","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1172336330","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Kura Oncology shares tumbled 40% in premarket trading. The FDA has slapped a clinical hold on the ear","content":"
Kura Oncology shares tumbled 40% in premarket trading. The FDA has slapped a clinical hold on the early-stage program for one of Kura’s cancer drugs following a patient’s death in a clinical trial.
\n
The biotech $KURA reported early Wednesday that the Phase Ib study of KO-539 for acute myeloid leukemia would be halted, suspending enrollment, while researchers and the FDA probed the death. At those levels, AAPL would present about 25% gain potential over the next 12 months. Is this a reasonable expectation? Might it even be too conservative a number?
\n
What AAPL at $200 means
\n
From a P/E perspective, Apple’s next-year valuation multiple would need to expand to 32.8 times for the stock to climb 25% from here and reach $200 apiece by this time in 2022. For reference, the comparable forward multiple today is only 28.2 times. Forward P/E only climbed well into the 30s recently in late August 2020, moments before AAPL corrected sharply into the end of Q3.
\n
All the above, of course, assumes that consensus 2023 EPS of $6.09 remains unchanged. Apple stock could also head to $200, maybe even without any valuation expansion, if the company manages to deliver consensus-beating results in the next few quarters. This could happen as a result of strong iPhone sales in the holiday quarter, for example.
\n
What history says
\n
History does not always repeat, but it often rhymes. From that point of view, Apple’s 25% climb in 12 months seems a bit more unlikely, considering that AAPL currently sits at an all-time high.
\n
The Apple Maven has explained that an investment in Apple stock tends to offer the highest return in the following 12 months if shares are bought during a steep drawdown. On average, one-year gains have been nearly 50% when the stock was bought after a 30%-plus decline from the top.
\n
Instead, if an investor bought AAPL only at all-time highs since the launch of the first iPhone in 2007 and held shares for exactly one year, his or her average return would have been “only” 19%. Gains of 25% or more, however, have not been all that rare, as the histogram below illustrates.
\n
Figure 2: Distribution of one-year gains in AAPL from a peak.
\n
The Apple Maven’s take
\n
I continue to think that AAPL is a great buy-and-hold play at $160 per share. However, earning 25% from an all-time high is no easy feat, even though it has happened before.
\n
I would not necessarily count on Apple stock generating stratospheric returns in the next 12 months or so. The odds are against it happening from a peak price, especially after shares managed to produce gains of 140% in the past 24 months alone. But more modest, still market-beating gains are certainly not out of question, considering the robust business fundamentals.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Will Apple Stock Be Up 25% Next Year?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nWill Apple Stock Be Up 25% Next Year?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-11-24 08:43 GMT+8 TheStreet\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Apple stock has just made all-time highs, but one Wall Street bull thinks that shares can climb another 25% in the next year. Apple stock could also head to $200, maybe even without any valuation expansion, if the company manages to deliver consensus-beating results in the next few quarters. This could happen as a result of strong iPhone sales in the holiday quarter, for example.\nWhat history says\nHistory does not always repeat, but it often rhymes. From that point of view, Apple’s 25% climb in 12 months seems a bit more unlikely, considering that AAPL currently sits at an all-time high.\nThe Apple Maven has explained that an investment in Apple stock tends to offer the highest return in the following 12 months if shares are bought during a steep drawdown. On average, one-year gains have been nearly 50% when the stock was bought after a 30%-plus decline from the top.\nInstead, if an investor bought AAPL only at all-time highs since the launch of the first iPhone in 2007 and held shares for exactly one year, his or her average return would have been “only” 19%. Gains of 25% or more, however, have not been all that rare, as the histogram below illustrates.\nFigure 2: Distribution of one-year gains in AAPL from a peak.\nThe Apple Maven’s take\nI continue to think that AAPL is a great buy-and-hold play at $160 per share. However, earning 25% from an all-time high is no easy feat, even though it has happened before.\nI would not necessarily count on Apple stock generating stratospheric returns in the next 12 months or so. The odds are against it happening from a peak price, especially after shares managed to produce gains of 140% in the past 24 months alone. But more modest, still market-beating gains are certainly not out of question, considering the robust business fundamentals.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":614,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":872257895,"gmtCreate":1637541509930,"gmtModify":1637546608691,"author":{"id":"4100429147076480","authorId":"4100429147076480","name":"QueenAlice","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/84fe6146e57fb9c73c06593efff358c4","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4100429147076480","authorIdStr":"4100429147076480"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like please :)","listText":"Like please :)","text":"Like please :)","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/872257895","repostId":"1153786917","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1153786917","pubTimestamp":1637534687,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1153786917?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-11-22 06:44","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Best Buy, Zoom, Pinduoduo, Xpeng,Xiaomi,Meituan and Other Stocks for Investors to Watch This Week","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1153786917","media":"Barrons","summary":"The tail end of third-quarter earnings season will bring more results from major retailers next week","content":"
The tail end of third-quarter earnings season will bring more results from major retailers next week, just as shoppers prepare for Black Friday.
This could happen as a result of strong iPhone sales in the holiday quarter, for example.
\n
What history says
\n
History does not always repeat, but it often rhymes.
