Sooner","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2191498346","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"These fast growers seem likely to keep growing -- a lot.","content":"
Not that many years ago, companies with market values topping $100 billion or $200 billion were quite impressive. But times have changed, and many large companies have grown far larger. In 2020, Apple became the first company to pass the $1 trillion mark. It now has plenty of company, with, for example, Amazon.com recently valued at $1.8 trillion and Microsoft carrying a $2.5 trillion price tag.
\n
Meanwhile, Apple itself recently sported a market capitalization of nearly $2.9 trillion. Here are three companies that seem poised to join the club within a decade, if not much sooner.
\n
1. Salesforce.com
\n
You have likely heard of Salesforce.com (NYSE:CRM), as it has been around since 1999 and has grown into a $260 billion enterprise. The company explains its business well in this nutshell: \" Salesforce is a customer relationship management [CRM] solution that brings companies and customers together. It's one integrated CRM platform that gives all your departments — including marketing, sales, commerce, and service — a single, shared view of every customer.\" It's clearly doing well, as it has more than 150,000 businesses as customers.
\n
For Salesforce.com to become a trillion-dollar business, it has to roughly quadruple in value over a decade, which equates to an approximate annual growth rate of 15%. That's not a terribly tall order for the company, considering that its total revenue grew by 24% year over year in this fiscal year's first nine months, with the company projecting similar growth in its last quarter. Much of Salesforce's revenue is subscription-based, which is extra appealing, as that tends to be relatively reliable and automatic.
\n
Meanwhile, once customers start relying on the company's suite of software services, it can be hard for them to switch to another provider. This stickiness is a competitive advantage.
\n
2. Costco
\n
Costco (NASDAQ:COST), the world's third-largest retailer, was recently valued near $235 billion. It, too, would need to roughly quadruple to hit that trillion-dollar value -- and doing so in a decade would require an average annual growth rate near 16%.
\n
Costco offers a lot to like for investors, as it does a much better than average job of serving its three main stakeholders: Customers, employees, and shareholders. It aims to cap price mark-ups at about 13% or 14%, it offers above-average pay and benefits, and it has grown in value by an annual average of more than 21% over the past decade.
\n
The company's revenue grew by more than 17% year over year in its fourth quarter, and its last fiscal year, with net income per share growing by more than 20% over both periods. As with any company, such robust growth rates are not guaranteed for the years ahead, and Costco's shares are not exactly cheap these days, but it still stands a decent chance of quadrupling within a decade -- and if not, perhaps soon thereafter.
\n
3. Shopify
\n
Shopify (NASDAQ:SHOP) has likely given many shareholders nosebleeds from its rapid ascent since its 2015 initial public offering (IPO): Its shares have soared more than 8,800%, averaging an annual gain of about 98%. That pace of growth is far from likely to continue, but there's still ample room for the company to grow. Its recent market value was $190 billion, meaning that it will need to roughly quintuple in size to hit the trillion-dollar mark, averaging growth of about 18% annually over the coming decade.
\n
That may not be a stretch for the company that bills itself as \"The all-in-one commerce platform to start, run, and grow a business.\" Shopify President Harley Finkelstein has noted: \"It took 15 years for our merchants to get to $200 billion in cumulative GMV, and just 16 months to double that to $400 billion.\"
\n
Shopify offers tiers of differently priced services for companies of different sizes, ranging from $29 monthly for start-ups and entrepreneurs to more than $2,000 monthly for larger companies. It sees its total addressable market (TAM) for small businesses alone valued at $153 billion, defining it as \"Anyone who wants to make more money from their site than they pay for it.\" Already, Shopify is No. 2 in market share for U.S. Retail E-commerce Sales as of late 2020, behind only Amazon.com.
\n
These three companies have been growing rapidly and have plenty of room for further growth, though none are trading anywhere near bargain-basement prices. Buying into them now if you're a long-term investor will give you a decent chance of them hitting a trillion dollars in value within a decade, but for even better results and more margin of safety, you might consider adding these growth stocks to your watchlist while waiting for a pullback.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 High-Growth Stocks That Could Be Worth $1 Trillion in 10 Years – or Sooner
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 High-Growth Stocks That Could Be Worth $1 Trillion in 10 Years – or Sooner\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-12-13 22:16 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Not that many years ago, companies with market values topping $100 billion or $200 billion were quite impressive. Why the ‘Rivian Effect’ Could Put a Dent in Tesla.","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1140451800","media":"InvestorPlace","summary":"RIVN stock is making extreme EV valuations look mainstream","content":"
Shares ofall-electric pickup truck maker Rivian Automotive (NASDAQ:RIVN) continue to soar on the heels of a spectacular first week. After pricing at $78, RIVN stock now trades at $172 per share — a spectacular 120% gain. Sporting a $152 billion market capitalization, Rivian is the biggest initial public offering (IPO) of the year. It’s alsothe world’s third-most valuable automaker by market cap, topped only by Tesla(NASDAQ:TSLA) and Toyota(NYSE:TM), which are valued at $1 trillion and $260 billion, respectively.
\n
If Rivian’s stellar debut wasn’t eye-opening enough, here’s another record: Rivian is the first to go public at a $100 billion-plus valuation with no revenue. Untilthe quarterly period ended Sept. 30, the company had not produced or delivered any vehicles.
\n
However, none of this is bothering investors. In fact, yesterday’s gain in RIVN stock alone equates to over $15 billion in market value — more than the combined market caps of other electric vehicle (EV) upstarts Nikola(NASDAQ:NKLA),Fisker(NYSE:FSR),Lordstown Motors(NASDAQ:RIDE) and Workhorse(NASDAQ:WKHS).
\n
If you’re on the right side of the recent momentum in EV stocks, congratulations. It has been a great ride. But the question you should be asking now is this: how long will EV stocks keep on trucking?
\n
The best place to start is to examine ‘the Rivian effect’ on the bellwether of the EV space: Tesla. So far, neither Rivian or any EV upstart has put a dent in the giant’s revenue growth. While both companies make electric vehicles, Rivian’s niche is all-terrain vehicles whereas Tesla focuses on sedans and SUVs.
\n
But the Rivian effect isn’t about competition. It’s about a potential shift in institutional money — a flow out of TSLA stock and into other legitimate alternatives. If investors start to view RIVN stock has the next EV growth pick, large outflows could put pressure on TSLA. Here’s a closer look.
\n
RIVN Stock and ‘The Rivian Effect’
\n
Founded in 2009, Rivian had initially filed to offer shares in the range of $57 to $62. It later raised that range to between $72 and $74.Now, RIVN stock trades at a whopping $152 billion market cap, having scorched the $80 billion implied valuation considered for thepre-IPO company back in September. And if that’s not enough, with $11.9 billion in IPO proceeds, it is also one of the best-funded EV startups in U.S. history.
\n
Rivian —whose backers include Amazon(NASDAQ:AMZN) and Ford(NYSE:F) —only began building its R1T pickup truck recently. As such, the company will only deliver a handful of vehicles this year.To date, customers have pre-ordered Rivian trucks, but these ‘sales’ consist only of small down payments. Amazon is the company’s first commercial customer, having already placed an order, subject to change, for 100,000 vehicles.
\n
If we’ve learned anything about the EV space, however, it’s that investors don’t care about revenue or earnings right now. EV stocks continue to trend upward. Future potential is the only thing that matters to investors. This sentiment was also clearly echoed after the recent earnings results from EV upstart Lucid Group(NASDAQ:LCID). LCID stock is trading up nearly 24% on Nov. 16 on the Rivian effect as well as enthusiasm for deliveries. After a 130% rise for the past month, the continued climb is clearly counterintuitive to the sell-the-news scenario we’d typically see on a lackluster report.
\n
Choices, Choices
\n
Several EV makers have come to market via special purpose acquisition companies (SPACs). Institutional investors tend to view SPACs as more speculative early-stage investments. But RIVN stock’s well-capitalized traditional IPO has generated a lot of interest among large mutual funds.
\n
Rivian’s valuation makes it a legitimate option for institutional investors looking for another large, liquid EV stock besides TSLA.Many observers also see Rivian as a beneficiary of greater U.S. government support for EVs in the newly signed infrastructure bill, as well as greater financial incentives to get consumers to switch to electric cars and trucks.
\n
If significant institutional money flows out of TSLA, those large sales would negatively impact the stock price. Moreover, with Tesla being the fifth-largest stock in the S&P 500— accounting for about 2% — a shift in money flow could also have a significant impact on the index.
\n
It’s worth watching to see what, if anything, happens to Tesla’s valuation as more EV companies gain traction. Since Rivian’s IPO, TSLA shares have held steady — the exception being volatility related to CEO Elon Musk’s sales of company stock. Ford, which owns a nearly 12% stake in Rivian, has similarly held steady over the course of RIVN’s initial trading.
\n
What Is RIVN Stock Really Worth?
\n
So far, TSLA and the rest of the EV sector appear unaffected by Rivian’s IPO success. But the potential danger here is that EV valuations are following a model that isn’t sustainable. For example, if Tesla is correctly valued at $1 trillion and Rivian is correctly valued at $100 billion, a company like Polestar(NASDAQ:GGPI) looks cheap with a current pro forma equity value of around $27 billion.
\n
We don’t have any projected numbers for Rivian since the company went public through a traditional IPO and can’t provide forward projections. However, based on the company’s production plans, analysts sayRivian could do $10 billion in 2023 sales. That would give RIVN stock a multiple of about 15 times estimated sales. This multiple also makes Rivian as expensive as Tesla, which similarly trades for roughly 12 times estimated 2023 salesof $89.5 billion.
\n
Bullish investors will argue that Rivian deserves a Tesla multiple. But revenue growth is just one metric investors will be looking at in order to justify the stock’s valuation. As Musk himself has pointed out, there are considerable risks ahead for new EV makers. The first is getting to full commercial volume production; the second, generating positive cash flow and earnings.
\n
The Rivian effect — that is, making extreme valuations look mainstream — should give fundamentals-oriented investors some pause. The bottom line? It’s too early to know what’s the right multiple to pay for Rivian or any of these EV stocks.
","source":"lsy1606302653667","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Rivian Stock Keeps on Trucking. So far, neither Rivian or any EV upstart has put a dent in the giant’s revenue growth. While both companies make electric vehicles, Rivian’s niche is all-terrain vehicles whereas Tesla focuses on sedans and SUVs.\nBut the Rivian effect isn’t about competition. It’s about a potential shift in institutional money — a flow out of TSLA stock and into other legitimate alternatives. If investors start to view RIVN stock has the next EV growth pick, large outflows could put pressure on TSLA. Here’s a closer look.\nRIVN Stock and ‘The Rivian Effect’\nFounded in 2009, Rivian had initially filed to offer shares in the range of $57 to $62. It later raised that range to between $72 and $74.Now, RIVN stock trades at a whopping $152 billion market cap, having scorched the $80 billion implied valuation considered for thepre-IPO company back in September. And if that’s not enough, with $11.9 billion in IPO proceeds, it is also one of the best-funded EV startups in U.S. history.\nRivian —whose backers include Amazon(NASDAQ:AMZN) and Ford(NYSE:F) —only began building its R1T pickup truck recently. As such, the company will only deliver a handful of vehicles this year.To date, customers have pre-ordered Rivian trucks, but these ‘sales’ consist only of small down payments. Amazon is the company’s first commercial customer, having already placed an order, subject to change, for 100,000 vehicles.\nIf we’ve learned anything about the EV space, however, it’s that investors don’t care about revenue or earnings right now. After a 130% rise for the past month, the continued climb is clearly counterintuitive to the sell-the-news scenario we’d typically see on a lackluster report.\nChoices, Choices\nSeveral EV makers have come to market via special purpose acquisition companies (SPACs). Institutional investors tend to view SPACs as more speculative early-stage investments. But RIVN stock’s well-capitalized traditional IPO has generated a lot of interest among large mutual funds.\nRivian’s valuation makes it a legitimate option for institutional investors looking for another large, liquid EV stock besides TSLA.Many observers also see Rivian as a beneficiary of greater U.S. government support for EVs in the newly signed infrastructure bill, as well as greater financial incentives to get consumers to switch to electric cars and trucks.\nIf significant institutional money flows out of TSLA, those large sales would negatively impact the stock price. Moreover, with Tesla being the fifth-largest stock in the S&P 500— accounting for about 2% — a shift in money flow could also have a significant impact on the index.\nIt’s worth watching to see what, if anything, happens to Tesla’s valuation as more EV companies gain traction. Since Rivian’s IPO, TSLA shares have held steady — the exception being volatility related to CEO Elon Musk’s sales of company stock. Ford, which owns a nearly 12% stake in Rivian, has similarly held steady over the course of RIVN’s initial trading.\nWhat Is RIVN Stock Really Worth?\nSo far, TSLA and the rest of the EV sector appear unaffected by Rivian’s IPO success. But the potential danger here is that EV valuations are following a model that isn’t sustainable. For example, if Tesla is correctly valued at $1 trillion and Rivian is correctly valued at $100 billion, a company like Polestar(NASDAQ:GGPI) looks cheap with a current pro forma equity value of around $27 billion.\nWe don’t have any projected numbers for Rivian since the company went public through a traditional IPO and can’t provide forward projections. However, based on the company’s production plans, analysts sayRivian could do $10 billion in 2023 sales. That would give RIVN stock a multiple of about 15 times estimated sales. This multiple also makes Rivian as expensive as Tesla, which similarly trades for roughly 12 times estimated 2023 salesof $89.5 billion.\nBullish investors will argue that Rivian deserves a Tesla multiple. But revenue growth is just one metric investors will be looking at in order to justify the stock’s valuation. As Musk himself has pointed out, there are considerable risks ahead for new EV makers. The first is getting to full commercial volume production; the second, generating positive cash flow and earnings.\nThe Rivian effect — that is, making extreme valuations look mainstream — should give fundamentals-oriented investors some pause. The bottom line? It’s too early to know what’s the right multiple to pay for Rivian or any of these EV stocks.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1591,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":871101638,"gmtCreate":1637032159796,"gmtModify":1637032159796,"author":{"id":"4097834870257080","authorId":"4097834870257080","name":"SKan","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4097834870257080","authorIdStr":"4097834870257080"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"It may down further","listText":"It may down further","text":"It may down further","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/871101638","repostId":"1118366658","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1118366658","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1637026607,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1118366658?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-11-16 09:36","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Musk exercised 2.1 million Tesla options on November 15 at a price of $6.24, according to the SEC files.","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1118366658","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Tesla(TSLA.O)CEO Elon Musk has sold $930 million in shares to meet tax withholding obligations relat","content":"
Tesla(TSLA.O)CEO Elon Musk has sold $930 million in shares to meet tax withholding obligations related to the exercise of stock options, U.S. securities filings showed on Monday.
\n
Musk sold 934,091 shares after exercising options to buy 2.1 million stocks at $6.24 each on Monday.
But times have changed, and many large companies have grown far larger. In 2020, Apple became the first company to pass the $1 trillion mark. It now has plenty of company, with, for example, Amazon.com recently valued at $1.8 trillion and Microsoft carrying a $2.5 trillion price tag.\nMeanwhile, Apple itself recently sported a market capitalization of nearly $2.9 trillion. Here are three companies that seem poised to join the club within a decade, if not much sooner.\n1. Salesforce.com\nYou have likely heard of Salesforce.com (NYSE:CRM), as it has been around since 1999 and has grown into a $260 billion enterprise. The company explains its business well in this nutshell: \" Salesforce is a customer relationship management [CRM] solution that brings companies and customers together. It's one integrated CRM platform that gives all your departments — including marketing, sales, commerce, and service — a single, shared view of every customer.\" It's clearly doing well, as it has more than 150,000 businesses as customers.\nFor Salesforce.com to become a trillion-dollar business, it has to roughly quadruple in value over a decade, which equates to an approximate annual growth rate of 15%. That's not a terribly tall order for the company, considering that its total revenue grew by 24% year over year in this fiscal year's first nine months, with the company projecting similar growth in its last quarter. Much of Salesforce's revenue is subscription-based, which is extra appealing, as that tends to be relatively reliable and automatic.\nMeanwhile, once customers start relying on the company's suite of software services, it can be hard for them to switch to another provider. This stickiness is a competitive advantage.\n2. Costco\nCostco (NASDAQ:COST), the world's third-largest retailer, was recently valued near $235 billion. It, too, would need to roughly quadruple to hit that trillion-dollar value -- and doing so in a decade would require an average annual growth rate near 16%.\nCostco offers a lot to like for investors, as it does a much better than average job of serving its three main stakeholders: Customers, employees, and shareholders. It aims to cap price mark-ups at about 13% or 14%, it offers above-average pay and benefits, and it has grown in value by an annual average of more than 21% over the past decade.\nThe company's revenue grew by more than 17% year over year in its fourth quarter, and its last fiscal year, with net income per share growing by more than 20% over both periods. As with any company, such robust growth rates are not guaranteed for the years ahead, and Costco's shares are not exactly cheap these days, but it still stands a decent chance of quadrupling within a decade -- and if not, perhaps soon thereafter.\n3. Shopify\nShopify (NASDAQ:SHOP) has likely given many shareholders nosebleeds from its rapid ascent since its 2015 initial public offering (IPO): Its shares have soared more than 8,800%, averaging an annual gain of about 98%. That pace of growth is far from likely to continue, but there's still ample room for the company to grow. Its recent market value was $190 billion, meaning that it will need to roughly quintuple in size to hit the trillion-dollar mark, averaging growth of about 18% annually over the coming decade.\nThat may not be a stretch for the company that bills itself as \"The all-in-one commerce platform to start, run, and grow a business.\" Shopify President Harley Finkelstein has noted: \"It took 15 years for our merchants to get to $200 billion in cumulative GMV, and just 16 months to double that to $400 billion.\"\nShopify offers tiers of differently priced services for companies of different sizes, ranging from $29 monthly for start-ups and entrepreneurs to more than $2,000 monthly for larger companies. It sees its total addressable market (TAM) for small businesses alone valued at $153 billion, defining it as \"Anyone who wants to make more money from their site than they pay for it.\" Already, Shopify is No. 2 in market share for U.S. Retail E-commerce Sales as of late 2020, behind only Amazon.com.\nThese three companies have been growing rapidly and have plenty of room for further growth, though none are trading anywhere near bargain-basement prices. Today finally brought some long-sought answers as the Federal Reserve met to discuss the economic challenges ahead. In the weeks leading up to now, the Fed taper has been a hotly debated topic. Tapering refers to the process of scaling back asset purchasing. Moreover, this is a policy decision that often leads to tightened monetary policy, such as increases in interest rates.
\n
It’s worth noting that plenty of speculation has risen around Fed Chairman Jerome Powell delaying plans for a taper due to the increasing threat to the U.S. economy posed by the spread of the omicron variant. Some economic commentators, such as Mohamed A. El-Erian, suggested that he should go beyond the taper rate that was expected due to mounting annual inflation.
\n
In preparing for the Fed Taper meeting, investors across the country have been bracing for the higher interest rates that many have considered inevitable. While the dust is still settling, here are three Federal Reserve announcements from today that everyone should consider.
\n
1) Interest rates will rise.
\n
For anyone concerned with interest rate hikes, they will be coming. As the New York Times reports, the economic projections issued by the Fed include three rate increases that can be expected throughout 2022. Additionally, as the economy recovers, rates will likely increase along with it, rising t0 2.1% by the end of 2024. That’s from the current target range of 0% to 0.25%.
\n
As the central bank issued in a statement, this target range for interest rates will likely be necessary “until labor market conditions have reached levels consistent with the committee’s assessments of maximum employment.”
\n
2) Bond buying will stop.
\n
We may see the monthly bond-buying trend come to a halt. According to a policy statement released today with the Fed’s economic projections, the tactic employed by the central bank during the pandemic to boost economic growth may cease as soon as March 2022. The statement released cited the inflationary trends and labor market developments as the primary motives behind this decision.
\n
In a press conference following the Federal Reserve meeting, Powell reaffirmed this. He stated that the decision to reduce asset purchasing had been spurred by the Fed’s focus on “strengthening labor market and elevated inflation pressures.”
\n
This decision will also allow the Fed to move forward more quickly in its plan to raise interest rates.
\n
3) Asset valuation is key.
\n
Powell has recognized that many households are in decent, if not strong, shape financially. However, he also realizes that businesses are facing a much more difficult economic landscape. Indeed, the road ahead looks challenging. He emphasized that asset valuation is one of the key areas examined by the central bank when it is concerned with assessing financial stability and risk. He described current asset valuations as “somewhat elevated.”
\n
Powell also noted that while funding risk among financial institutions remains low, the Fed considers money market funds a vulnerability.
\n
Despite the economic complications posed by the aforementioned challenges, there are still stocks that stand to benefit from the Fed taper delays.
","source":"lsy1606302653667","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Fed Taper Alert: 3 Big Takeaways From the Latest Federal Reserve Meeting
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nFed Taper Alert: 3 Big Takeaways From the Latest Federal Reserve Meeting\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-12-16 07:54 GMT+8 investor place\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Inflationary trends have carried the U.S. economy into the holiday season, leading to much speculation as to how policy makers and regulatory officials will handle rising prices in the coming year. ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{".DJI":"道琼斯",".IXIC":"NASDAQ Composite",".SPX":"S&P 500 Index"},"source_url":"https://investorplace.com/2021/12/fed-taper-alert-3-big-takeaways-from-the-latest-federal-reserve-meeting/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1133023138","content_text":"Inflationary trends have carried the U.S. economy into the holiday season, leading to much speculation as to how policy makers and regulatory officials will handle rising prices in the coming year. Yet that's exactly what electric vehicle (EV) stocks have done since Rivian Automotive (NASDAQ:RIVN) had its initial public offering (IPO) last week. After debuting at a price of $78 per share, Rivian stock has already doubled. Similarly, share prices of Lucid Group (NASDAQ:LCID), a luxury EV company, have more than doubled in the last month. But those gains are in the past. It's time to look at what's the best option now.
\n
Investors scanning the horizon for growth stocks may be better off taking a look at Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB), Array Technologies (NASDAQ:ARRY), and MP Materials (NYSE:MP). Here's why some Fool.com contributors think each is a great buy now.
\n
The infrastructure bill is just one of many growth drivers for Trimble
\n
Lee Samaha (Trimble): Trimble is a leading light in the positioning and modeling business. As such, its roots lie in the geospatial industry (mapping and surveying). The geospatial industry is still a significant end market -- making up around 23% of Trimble's third-quarter revenue. However, its largest end market is buildings and construction (39% of revenue). The other two end markets are the fast-growing resources and utilities (20% of revenue) space and transportation (18% of revenue).
\n
Trimble's solutions are increasingly used as an integral part of its customers' daily activities. For example, trucking companies use Trimble to make sure their fleets are running safely and effectively, all the time analyzing real-time data to improve performance. In agriculture, its precision agriculture hardware and software help farmers make better decisions when it comes to planting, nurturing, and harvesting crops.
\n
Moreover, in building and construction, the company's technology helps contractors accurately complete building and infrastructure projects, and in doing so, reduce waste and carbon emissions. As such, the infrastructure bill will lead to plenty of growth opportunities as upgrading the nation's infrastructure can be achieved in a more cost-efficient and environmentally friendly way using Trimble.
\n
Given the explosion of connected devices, digital technologies, and analytics capability, it's highly likely that there will be increased adoption of positioning and modeling technology in the future. Again, Trimble is ideally placed to take advantage.
\n
This solar stock went from cold to hot
\n
Daniel Foelber (Array Technologies): Share prices of solar tracking manufacturer Array Technologies have staged quite the comeback since falling 74% from its high in May. The company was caught completely off guard by supply chain constraints and rising raw material costs -- namely steel. The news not only stunted its growth, but crippled its margins, too.
\n
Although the company's short-term performance continues to suffer, it has done a good job partnering with companies like Nucor to secure more reliable steel pricing, as well as building a healthy backlog of projects. Although Array's Q3 figures were weak, the company's outlook for the year ahead casts a bright light that the worst of its problems may be over.
\n
Array is a great example of a growth stock that looked strong headed into 2021, suffered a lot of setbacks, and is now beginning to get back on its feet. Now is the perfect time for investors to revisit the long-term investment thesis, which centers around the growing need for more efficient and cost-effective solar tracking. Array's industry-leading technology maximizes the amount of solar energy that a panel can generate, which saves costs in the long run. The company's business is almost entirely in the U.S. but there are plans to expand internationally as new markets demand more efficient solar systems. Given the lower cost of utility-solar and estimates that solar will only grow its share in the global energy mix, Array is a growth stock worth following as its fundamentals improve.
\n
Dig this under-the-radar EV stock
\n
Scott Levine (MP Materials): Soaring steeply higher in its short time as a publicly traded company, Rivian's stock is charging into the hearts -- and portfolios -- of many EV-focused investors. While the stock is currently the talk of the town, there's another EV stock that represents another great growth opportunity, though it hardly finds itself in the limelight as Rivian currently does. MP Materials is a mining company that owns and operates Mountain Pass, where it mines and processes rare earth minerals. Although lithium is the mineral that is likely most familiar to renewable energy investors, rare earth minerals are critical components in the production of magnets used in EVs and other advanced motion technologies like wind turbines and drones.
\n
The bull case for MP Materials is predicated largely on the fact that rare earth minerals are, well, rare -- not something you can easily find in your backyard -- so owning and operating one of the largest integrated rare earth mining and processing facilities in the world (as MP Materials proclaims to do) is fairly compelling. Add to that the fact that the United States has voiced a desire to shore up its supply of rare earth materials by distancing itself from China, where the majority of rare earth minerals are currently sourced, and MP Materials becomes even more attractive.
\n
During an investors presentation last year, MP Materials projected that its revenue would rise at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 53% from $75 million in 2019 to $415 million in 2023. But it wouldn't be surprising if the top line grows at an even greater clip than that. Through the first nine months of 2021, the company has reported revenue of $233 million, blowing past its earlier forecast of $171 million for all of 2021. Pivoting to the cash flow statement, investors will find that while this growth company has a long runway ahead of it, the company's risks are mitigated by the fact that it's cash-flow positive.
