At first, the new auto insurance product will be available to Illinois drivers, but the company plans to roll it out nationwide. Tennessee will be the next state to add Lemonade Car, followed later by other states.</p>\n<h2>Now what</h2>\n<p>Lemonade has well over 1 million customers, but most of its revenue comes from low-cost types of insurance, particularly renters insurance, where the average policy costs around $15 per month. Auto insurance premiums average about 10 times this amount, and the company estimates that its current customer base spends more than $1 billion annually on auto insurance. With an extremely high rate of customer satisfaction, it has a big opportunity to quickly scale up this new business.</p>\n<p>What's more, auto insurance in general is a much larger market than Lemonade's core business. In the U.S. alone, auto insurance is a $288 billion market, as compared with about $4 billion for renters insurance. The year-over-year increase was mainly due to higher vehicle delivery especially for the P7, which started at the end of June 2020. The Company issued a total of 97,083,300 Class A ordinary shares in the global offering. The year-over-year increase was mainly due to higher vehicle delivery especially for the P7, which started at the end of June 2020. The quarter-over-quarter increase was also attributable to the higher P7 sales as a result of seasonality, channel expansion and brand equity improvement.</p>\n<p><i>Revenues from services and others</i>were RMB176.9 million (US$27.4 million) for the second quarter of 2021, representing an increase of 256.2% from RMB49.7 million for the same period of 2020 and an increase of 25.8% from RMB140.6 million for the first quarter of 2021. The Company issued a total of 97,083,300 Class A ordinary shares in the global offering. Net proceeds from the global offering, after deducting underwriting fees and commissions were approximately HK$15,823 million, which will be used in accordance with the use of proceeds as disclosed in the prospectus of the Company published on the website of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on June 25, 2021 (the “<b>Prospectus</b>”). Since the Listing Date and as at the date of this announcement, the Company has not utilized any net proceeds from the Listing.</p>\n<p><b>Deliveries in July 2021</b></p>\n<p>Total Smart EV deliveries of XPeng reached 8,040 in July 2021, representing a 228% increase year- over-year. The July deliveries consisted of 6,054 P7s, XPeng’s smart sports sedan, and 1,986 G3s, XPeng’s compact smart sport utility vehicle (“<b>SUV</b>”). The year-over-year increase was mainly due to higher vehicle delivery especially for the P7, which started at the end of June 2020. The quarter-over-quarter increase was also attributable to the higher P7 sales as a result of seasonality, channel expansion and brand equity improvement.</p>\n<p><i>Revenues from services and others</i>were RMB176.9 million (US$27.4 million) for the second quarter of 2021, representing an increase of 256.2% from RMB49.7 million for the same period of 2020 and an increase of 25.8% from RMB140.6 million for the first quarter of 2021. At first, the new auto insurance product will be available to Illinois drivers, but the company plans to roll it out nationwide. Tennessee will be the next state to add Lemonade Car, followed later by other states.</p>\n<h2>Now what</h2>\n<p>Lemonade has well over 1 million customers, but most of its revenue comes from low-cost types of insurance, particularly renters insurance, where the average policy costs around $15 per month. Auto insurance premiums average about 10 times this amount, and the company estimates that its current customer base spends more than $1 billion annually on auto insurance. With an extremely high rate of customer satisfaction, it has a big opportunity to quickly scale up this new business.</p>\n<p>What's more, auto insurance in general is a much larger market than Lemonade's core business. In the U.S. alone, auto insurance is a $288 billion market, as compared with about $4 billion for renters insurance. Lemonade shares once rose more than 16%.\n\nSo what\nAlthough we're in earnings season, we haven't heard Lemonade's latest results yet. Instead, investors are cheering the launch of Lemonade Car, the company's much-anticipated auto insurance platform.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nAfter giving a vague timeline in its latest quarterly report, Lemonade announced on Wednesday morning that Lemonade Car has officially launched. At first, the new auto insurance product will be available to Illinois drivers, but the company plans to roll it out nationwide. Tennessee will be the next state to add Lemonade Car, followed later by other states.\nNow what\nLemonade has well over 1 million customers, but most of its revenue comes from low-cost types of insurance, particularly renters insurance, where the average policy costs around $15 per month. Auto insurance premiums average about 10 times this amount, and the company estimates that its current customer base spends more than $1 billion annually on auto insurance. With an extremely high rate of customer satisfaction, it has a big opportunity to quickly scale up this new business.\nWhat's more, auto insurance in general is a much larger market than Lemonade's core business. In the U.S. alone, auto insurance is a $288 billion market, as compared with about $4 billion for renters insurance.
