sales practices scandal stabilized.
\n
Wells Fargo has been operating under penalties from regulators since 2016 when details of a sales scandal emerged and led to the departure of two chief executives and billions of dollars in litigation and remediation costs.
\n
Under an order imposed by the Federal Reserve in 2018, the bank is not allowed to let its assets rise above $1.95 trillion.
\n
Wells Fargo, however, began to rein in costs this year, signaling that it may finally be emerging from the episode that has dogged it for nearly five years.
\n
The needs to prove it can grow in a post-pandemic world before the stock can beat the market again, according to investment firm Wedbush.\nAnalyst James Hardiman downgraded the stock to neutral from outperform, saying in a note to clients on Wednesday that growth will be harder to come by for the exercise equipment company.\n“PTON is now embarking on the next leg of its growth story, one that in a post-pandemic era will require the company to generate its own momentum through savvy marketing and compelling new products,” the note said.\nThe stock was a big winner in 2020 as gyms across the United States were temporarily closed due to the pandemic, but shares have pulled back by more than 20% this year.\nWedbush’s research, including social media and internet search trends, suggest that Peloton is seeing a drop off in customer engagement.\n“In each case, the y/y growth in the June quarter has seen substantial deceleration, which should not be surprising given seasonal and reopening headwinds, but nonetheless would seem to mark a turning point for a company that has continually defied gravity since its IPO, and presents evidence that the law of large numbers is finally catching up,” the note said.\nThe investment firm cut its price target on Peloton to $115 per share from $130. The new target is 4% below where the stock closed on Tuesday.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":293,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":144973198,"gmtCreate":1626264889114,"gmtModify":1631891639540,"author":{"id":"4089365658562430","authorId":"4089365658562430","name":"86a78c3","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4089365658562430","authorIdStr":"4089365658562430"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"😁","listText":"😁","text":"😁","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/144973198","repostId":"1165924722","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":287,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":144979205,"gmtCreate":1626264871107,"gmtModify":1633928517115,"author":{"id":"4089365658562430","authorId":"4089365658562430","name":"86a78c3","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4089365658562430","authorIdStr":"4089365658562430"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"😁","listText":"😁","text":"😁","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/144979205","repostId":"1165924722","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":326,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":818372400,"gmtCreate":1630380061700,"gmtModify":1704959425831,"author":{"id":"4089365658562430","authorId":"4089365658562430","name":"86a78c3","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4089365658562430","authorIdStr":"4089365658562430"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"😁","listText":"😁","text":"😁","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/818372400","repostId":"1168575044","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1168575044","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1630378727,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1168575044?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-08-31 10:58","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Warren Buffett turns 91, prepares Berkshire for new, tech-driven economy - CNBC","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1168575044","media":"seekingalpha","summary":"Warren Buffett isshowing a greater opennessto investments that stray from Berkshire Hathaway's (BRK.","content":"
Warren Buffett isshowing a greater opennessto investments that stray from Berkshire Hathaway's (BRK.A,BRK.B) old economy core, adaptingto the increasingly tech-driven economy, CNBC's Yun Li writes on The Oracle's 91st birthday.
\n
Berkshire's exposure to tech stocks has grown to 45% of its equity portfolio, thanks to its massive stake in Apple that has ballooned to more than $120B since its initial investment five years ago, and Buffett has dipped into IPOs and pre-IPO investments.
\n
\"The equity portfolio today is more dynamic than it was 10-15 years ago with the Todds at the helm,\" says Cathy Seifert, Berkshire analyst at CFRA Research, referring to Buffett's investment lieutenants Todd Combs and Ted Weschler.
\n
But die-hard Buffett watchers awaiting the next big acquisition instead have seen Berkshire focused on returning capital to shareholders, Li writes, noting the company bought back $6B of its own stock in Q2, after repurchasing a record $24.7B last year.
\n
Buffett's $6B bet a year ago on Japan's five largest trading houses hasgained more than 30%, outpacing the Topix index's 21% rise, but has not sparked a groundswell of international followers, as many investors remain sidelined by uncertainty over COVID-19 and the country's political leadership.
\n
Seeking Alpha contributor C Jessen believes \"we can expect more aggressive deployment Of Berkshire's $144B cash... when Ted and Todd take over the investment portfolio.\"
","source":"seekingalpha","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; needs to prove it can grow in a post-pandemic world before the stock can beat the market again, according to investment firm Wedbush.\nAnalyst James Hardiman downgraded the stock to neutral from outperform, saying in a note to clients on Wednesday that growth will be harder to come by for the exercise equipment company.\n“PTON is now embarking on the next leg of its growth story, one that in a post-pandemic era will require the company to generate its own momentum through savvy marketing and compelling new products,” the note said.\nThe stock was a big winner in 2020 as gyms across the United States were temporarily closed due to the pandemic, but shares have pulled back by more than 20% this year.\nWedbush’s research, including social media and internet search trends, suggest that Peloton is seeing a drop off in customer engagement.\n“In each case, the y/y growth in the June quarter has seen substantial deceleration, which should not be surprising given seasonal and reopening headwinds, but nonetheless would seem to mark a turning point for a company that has continually defied gravity since its IPO, and presents evidence that the law of large numbers is finally catching up,” the note said.\nThe investment firm cut its price target on Peloton to $115 per share from $130. The new target is 4% below where the stock closed on Tuesday.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":293,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":144973198,"gmtCreate":1626264889114,"gmtModify":1631891639540,"author":{"id":"4089365658562430","authorId":"4089365658562430","name":"86a78c3","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4089365658562430","authorIdStr":"4089365658562430"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"😁","listText":"😁","text":"😁","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/144973198","repostId":"1165924722","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":287,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":144979205,"gmtCreate":1626264871107,"gmtModify":1633928517115,"author":{"id":"4089365658562430","authorId":"4089365658562430","name":"86a78c3","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4089365658562430","authorIdStr":"4089365658562430"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"😁","listText":"😁","text":"😁","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/144979205","repostId":"1165924722","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":326,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
