Friday","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2184828149","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"A $250 mixed shelf offering isn't sitting well with the biotech's shareholders.","content":"
What happened
\n
Shares of Aurinia Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:AUPH) fell by 18.1% in after-hours trading Friday. The drugmaker's stock tanked in response to a $250 million mixed shelf offering.
\n
The accompanying prospectus filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission noted that the proceeds of any stock sales under this offering would be used for clinical development and commercial production of the company's Food and Drug Administration approved lupus nephritis (LN) medication Lupkynis. It would advance its pipeline, business development opportunities, capital expenditures, and working capital.
\n
At the end of the third quarter, Aurinia had a cash runway of approximately six to perhaps eight quarters, depending on the commercial trajectory of Lupkynis, as well as the company's clinical development plans.
\n
So what
\n
Shareholders are hitting the exits on this biotech stock for one clear reason: This mixed shelf offering may spell the end of buyout talks. Last month, Aurinia's shares blasted higher on rumors that Bristol Myers Squibb (NYSE:BMY) was contemplating a bid for the company. Soon thereafter, additional rumors surfaced claiming that Aurinia had multiple suitors. To date, however, a formal tender offer has yet to materialize from any party.
\n
And while neither Bristol nor Aurinia have publicly denied these rumors, there are some obvious problems with this hypothetical tie-up. Specifically, Bristol has multiple holes to fill to keep its top line headed in the right direction, and only about $16 billion in cash to achieve this goal. Aurinia, for its part, probably won't accept an offer under $6 billion. What's more, the biotech might be holding out for an offer in excess of $8 billion.
\n
Now what
\n
Is Aurinia's stock a screaming buy after this after-hours drop? The answer is most definitely yes. While Lupkynis' sales might be slow to ramp up with Aurinia at the helm, the drug is starting to turn heads among prescribers, according to a recent survey. As such, Aurinia's top line should eventually grow by leaps and bounds. Savvy investors, therefore, shouldn't hesitate to take advantage of this unwarranted pullback in this undervalued biotech stock.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Why Aurinia Pharmaceuticals Stock Crashed in After-Hours Trading on Friday
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nWhy Aurinia Pharmaceuticals Stock Crashed in After-Hours Trading on Friday\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-11-21 11:04 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
What happened\nShares of Aurinia Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:AUPH) fell by 18.1% in after-hours trading Friday. Telecom industry officials have pushed back against safety concerns, saying available evidence doesn’t support the conclusion that 5G networks will interfere with flight equipment.\nThe FAA, its parent agency the U.S. DOT and the Federal Communications Commission didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.\nAT&T said the company would “continue to work in good faith with the FCC and the FAA to understand the FAA’s asserted coexistence concerns.”\n“It is critical that these discussions be informed by the science and the data,” AT&T said. “That is the only path to enabling experts and engineers to assess whether any legitimate coexistence issues exist.”","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":876,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":852201313,"gmtCreate":1635267044128,"gmtModify":1635267044335,"author":{"id":"4088782717346270","authorId":"4088782717346270","name":"banana3441","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a910c5331a8af8671a901dc8dcf8396a","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4088782717346270","authorIdStr":"4088782717346270"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Facebook(FB)$I am slowly adding one of the good stock ","listText":"$Facebook(FB)$I am slowly adding one of the good stock ","text":"$Facebook(FB)$I am slowly adding one of the good stock","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/23d05d08a123ec631be76bd4444ab026","width":"1080","height":"3075"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/852201313","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1014,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":851468062,"gmtCreate":1634923264496,"gmtModify":1634923264703,"author":{"id":"4088782717346270","authorId":"4088782717346270","name":"banana3441","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a910c5331a8af8671a901dc8dcf8396a","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4088782717346270","authorIdStr":"4088782717346270"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Zoom(ZM)$waiting since long time","listText":"$Zoom(ZM)$waiting since long time","text":"$Zoom(ZM)$waiting since long time","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8d87f9e0cc87d70813a9fd2154d7e6f4","width":"1080","height":"3075"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/851468062","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":597,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":853906619,"gmtCreate":1634748213720,"gmtModify":1634748213984,"author":{"id":"4088782717346270","authorId":"4088782717346270","name":"banana3441","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a910c5331a8af8671a901dc8dcf8396a","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4088782717346270","authorIdStr":"4088782717346270"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Great","listText":"Great","text":"Great","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/853906619","repostId":"2176516480","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2176516480","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1634741060,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2176516480?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-10-20 22:44","market":"us","language":"en","title":"2 Stocks That Can Turn $500 Into $7,500 (Or More)","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2176516480","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"There are few better roads to building wealth over your lifetime than investing in the stock market.","content":"
There are few better roads to building wealth over your lifetime than investing in the stock market. The freelancing platform has moved well beyond its early days when each gig was priced at just $5, and that has helped it grow into an important resource for creatives and those who need their services. The pandemic actually made it essential.
\n
Fiverr's technology platform connects freelancers with individuals and companies in need of their services. Yet there are some good reasons to believe the freelance platform can readily grow into its valuation.
\n
Although the Israeli company estimates the total freelance market to be $750 billion annually and its addressable portion in the U.S. to be over $100 billion, Fiverr looks forward to expanding its business well beyond the English-speaking world, which currently represents around 70% of its revenue. International expansion will be a key focus for the future.
\n
Wall Street forecasts that Fiverr's adjusted earnings of $0.12 per share last year can grow to $1.57 per share by 2023, or a compounded growth rate of 135% annually. With share prices tending to follow earnings, the gig shop should see its stock follow suit and its current, seemingly overheated valuation looking like a very cool opportunity.
\n
Genuine Parts
\n
The computer chip shortage continues to plague the auto industry, and that's good news for Genuine Parts (NYSE:GPC), the owner of the NAPA Auto Parts chain of aftermarket auto parts stores. With auto sales forecast to fall 7% to 15.5 million vehicles this year because manufacturers can't get the chips needed to ship the cars to dealers, the market for used autos looks brighter and for aftermarket parts better still.
\n
For example, Ford has just 42 days of new inventory supply while Nissan has just 27, and Honda and Toyota both have just 17 days. With few cars available to buy, prices rising on those that are on dealer lots, and the crunch causing used car prices to soar, consumers are going to be looking to maintain their existing jalopies for a lot longer.
\n
You can see it playing out with Genuine Parts results with first half net sales up 17% from last year, but the effect is causing sales to accelerate as they were 25% higher in the second quarter. They were also 12% higher than they were for the same quarter pre-pandemic.
\n
Wall Street sees the auto parts dealer steadily growing sales at 5% a year for the next five years, which doesn't sound like it's setting the world on fire, but add in its dividend payment and investors have a sure and steady winner on their hands.
\n
Genuine Parts has paid dividends for nearly 100 years and has increased the payout annually for 65 straight years, making it a member of an elite group of stocks known as Dividend Kings. The Apple Maven thinks that long-term investors should not worry much.
\n
The recent news has not been very favorable for Apple and its shares. According to Bloomberg, the iPhone 13 isfacingsupply chain issues. The component shortage could cause the number of Apple devices produced to drop by 10 million this year.
\n
Apple stock has not fallen apart following the report, but it dipped below $140 apiece once again – levels not seen for more than a hot second since the start of July 2021. However, the Apple Maven believes that long-term investors should not worry about the recent developments involving the iPhone.
\n
Figure 1: iPhone 13 new model.
\n
This seems familiar…
\n
First, it is important for readers to understand that there are different types of Apple stock investors and traders. Many buy shares in hopes of short-term gains, while others bet on the stock for the long haul. Short-term traders may, in fact, have good reasons to be concerned. What if Apple misses iPhone sales expectations in the next quarter, and the stock reacts negatively as a result?
\n
But long-term holders are probably looking at Apple’s business fundamentals further out in the future. There have been enough reports suggesting that demand for the iPhone 13 has been high, probably even better than demand for the already successful iPhone 12.
\n
If enough demand for a product exists, it is reasonable to think that temporary supply chain hiccups will only cause sales to shift from one period to the next. This is exactly what happened in 2020, when the COVID-19 crisis caused the iPhone 12 to be unveiled and launched later in the holiday season.
\n
The chart below shows iPhone sales growth in fiscal 2019 and 2020, and in the first periods of the current year. Notice how the painful revenue decline in 2019 seems to have created pent-up demand that was not met in fiscal Q4 of last year, due to the production delays. When those were finally resolved, fiscal 2021 revenues shot through the roof.
\n
Figure 2: iPhone growth from 2019 to 2021.
\n
Average iPhone sales growth between the start of fiscal 2020 and now turned out to be a healthy 14%, although revenues were very lumpy from quarter to quarter. During the same period, and despite last year’s supply chain problems, Apple stock climbed 90%.
\n
Could the current component shortage cause revenues to merely shift around the calendar once again? I think it is plausible, if not likely.
\n
Apple is a good place to hide
\n
To be clear, the alleged production delays is not an Apple-specific problem. The Apple Maven thinks that long-term investors should not worry much.\nThe recent news has not been very favorable for Apple and its shares. According to Bloomberg, the iPhone 13 isfacingsupply chain issues. The component shortage could cause the number of Apple devices produced to drop by 10 million this year.\nApple stock has not fallen apart following the report, but it dipped below $140 apiece once again – levels not seen for more than a hot second since the start of July 2021. However, the Apple Maven believes that long-term investors should not worry about the recent developments involving the iPhone.\nFigure 1: iPhone 13 new model.\nThis seems familiar…\nFirst, it is important for readers to understand that there are different types of Apple stock investors and traders. Many buy shares in hopes of short-term gains, while others bet on the stock for the long haul. Short-term traders may, in fact, have good reasons to be concerned. What if Apple misses iPhone sales expectations in the next quarter, and the stock reacts negatively as a result?\nBut long-term holders are probably looking at Apple’s business fundamentals further out in the future. There have been enough reports suggesting that demand for the iPhone 13 has been high, probably even better than demand for the already successful iPhone 12.\nIf enough demand for a product exists, it is reasonable to think that temporary supply chain hiccups will only cause sales to shift from one period to the next. This is exactly what happened in 2020, when the COVID-19 crisis caused the iPhone 12 to be unveiled and launched later in the holiday season.\nThe chart below shows iPhone sales growth in fiscal 2019 and 2020, and in the first periods of the current year. Notice how the painful revenue decline in 2019 seems to have created pent-up demand that was not met in fiscal Q4 of last year, due to the production delays. When those were finally resolved, fiscal 2021 revenues shot through the roof.\nFigure 2: iPhone growth from 2019 to 2021.\nAverage iPhone sales growth between the start of fiscal 2020 and now turned out to be a healthy 14%, although revenues were very lumpy from quarter to quarter. During the same period, and despite last year’s supply chain problems, Apple stock climbed 90%.\nCould the current component shortage cause revenues to merely shift around the calendar once again? I think it is plausible, if not likely.\nApple is a good place to hide\nTo be clear, the alleged production delays is not an Apple-specific problem. Component shortages in this year of recovery from the pandemic has been well documented and seems to be impacting consumer tech vendors across the board.\nOf course, an investor can choose not to commit to the tech sector at all, fearing that the whole industry will underperform as the global economies continue to bounce back. But if money is to be deployed in the space, I think that Apple is a safer-than-average bet due to best-in-class supply chain management.\nLast year, I explained in more detail that Apple has become “king of inventory management”under CEO Tim Cook – who is also the Cupertino company’s former COO. Therefore, were I to bet on one company handling supply chain issues well, it would probably be the one with most purchasing power and a solid track record at managing inventory.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":226,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":822534620,"gmtCreate":1634140635723,"gmtModify":1634140635833,"author":{"id":"4088782717346270","authorId":"4088782717346270","name":"banana3441","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a910c5331a8af8671a901dc8dcf8396a","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4088782717346270","authorIdStr":"4088782717346270"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good stocks","listText":"Good stocks","text":"Good stocks","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/822534620","repostId":"2175157695","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":114,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":822246638,"gmtCreate":1634137434512,"gmtModify":1634137434512,"author":{"id":"4088782717346270","authorId":"4088782717346270","name":"banana3441","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a910c5331a8af8671a901dc8dcf8396a","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4088782717346270","authorIdStr":"4088782717346270"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Will tsm be affected?","listText":"Will tsm be affected?","text":"Will tsm be affected?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/822246638","repostId":"1182958686","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":220,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":822248930,"gmtCreate":1634137312205,"gmtModify":1634137312323,"author":{"id":"4088782717346270","authorId":"4088782717346270","name":"banana3441","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a910c5331a8af8671a901dc8dcf8396a","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4088782717346270","authorIdStr":"4088782717346270"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"These are good tech stocks!","listText":"These are good tech stocks!","text":"These are good tech stocks!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":9,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/822248930","repostId":"2175157695","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":184,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":826765632,"gmtCreate":1634055914287,"gmtModify":1634055914502,"author":{"id":"4088782717346270","authorId":"4088782717346270","name":"banana3441","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a910c5331a8af8671a901dc8dcf8396a","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4088782717346270","authorIdStr":"4088782717346270"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Li Auto(LI)$waiting for a breakout ","listText":"$Li Auto(LI)$waiting for a breakout ","text":"$Li Auto(LI)$waiting for a breakout","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9eda26b9055963a3e4577441d1c668cd","width":"1080","height":"3268"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/826765632","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":251,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":826303645,"gmtCreate":1633971303731,"gmtModify":1633971303804,"author":{"id":"4088782717346270","authorId":"4088782717346270","name":"banana3441","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a910c5331a8af8671a901dc8dcf8396a","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4088782717346270","authorIdStr":"4088782717346270"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like pls","listText":"Like pls","text":"Like pls","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/826303645","repostId":"2174090689","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2174090689","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1633964614,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2174090689?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-10-11 23:03","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 Top Stocks to Invest $100 In Right Now","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2174090689","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"You don't need much up-front money to buy these stocks with great growth prospects.","content":"
One of the biggest myths with investing is that you must have a lot of money to get started. The company is growing its Cash App, which enables users to store and send money. Now with 40 million monthly users, Cash App has a long growth runway ahead of it. Square is seeking to complement its business with new features over time, such as Buy Now and Pay Later via Afterpay.
\n
The Afterpay acquisition will give it access to 16 million consumers located both inside and outside of the United States. It could give the company momentum for expansion of Cash App in new markets, especially those where consumers are underbanked, like in emerging markets. Square reported net income of $574 million for Q2 2021 which was an increase of 89% year over year. In addition, the company has experienced revenue growth of 188% over the past three years. With more opportunities to expand on the horizon, this stock could be a great place for tech investors to look.
\n
2. It's continuing to ramp up its deliveries years later, and Tesla could continue to grow through its other ventures, including solar energy and autonomous driving. The electric car market is growing more than 20% per year and the market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 34% by 2027. So Tesla's leadership (79% market share in the U.S.) in the category could translate to ongoing growth over the coming years.
\n
Tesla's revenue has grown 50% per year on average over the past five years, and the business is thriving. The Cybertruck hasn't yet entered production, and its presence could further disrupt legacy automakers, especially domestic competitors who rely on pickup trucks as their most profitable models. As the company reported net income of $1 billion for the second quarter which was nearly a 1,000% gain over last year, investors have plenty to look forward to.
\n
3. Today, Netflix makes much of its own content and is expanding outside of the United States, while getting into gaming, which could continue to drive its growth moving forward.
\n
The company has spent years investing to build its own content, no longer relying on third-party partners to license it. Netflix has begun to generate robust operating cash flow, $713 million over the first six months of this year, despite investing a whopping $7 billion in new content. This high rate of investment creates a competitive moat that few others can afford to spend to compete with. Since Netflix has reported net income growth of 128% and revenue growth of 58% over the past three years, the company's content investment seems worthwhile.
\n
4. Facebook
\n
\n
\n
\n
Analyst estimated 3-5 year earnings per share growth rate:
\n
22%
\n
\n
\n
\n
Social media is now one of the primary ways people interact, maintain relationships, and make friends. Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) not only owns its namesake social media platform but other leading networks such as Instagram and messaging app WhatsApp. Altogether, more than 2.8 billion people use a Facebook product each month. That massive number of users creates substantial revenue streams for the company through advertising. That has investors searching elsewhere for ways to get a decent return on their investment capital. One option available is dividend-yielding stocks. But finding a decent yield on a dividend-paying stock when the market is generating such high valuations isn't easy.
\n
Curiously though, not every dividend-paying stock currently sports a rock-bottom yield. A handful of high-quality names are still dishing out above-average dividends and should continue to do so into the indefinite future.
\n
Here's a closer look at my three favorite such picks right now.
\n
\n
1. Coca-Cola
\n
Dividend yield: 3.1%
\n
You know the brand, perhaps as well as any other company in the world. Coca-Cola (NYSE:KO) has been around since 1886 and its products are woven into the very fabric of our culture. Its stock has not only paid a reliable quarterly dividend for decades now, but it has increased its annualized payments every year since 1962. That's the upside of selling products that consumers are willing to buy over and over again (often without a second thought).
\n
Those who keep close tabs on Coca-Cola may well know the company's top line has been contracting of late (and that was before pandemic-related shutdowns got in the way). Indeed, sales have been slumping since 2013, giving would-be buyers pause. That shrinking top line, however, isn't nearly as much the result of health-minded concerns -- the avoidance of sugary sodas -- as you might think. It's largely by design.
\n
See, the company has made a point of getting out of the bottling business and it's focusing more on the licensing and franchising business. Namely, it's spent the past few years selling its bottling operations to third-party bottlers who in turn pay the beverage giant royalties for the right to use the brand name. This arrangement translates into lower sales, but brand licensing is a (much) higher-margin business. The new approach to doing business means Coca-Cola is generating more profits than it ever has. That's what income-seeking investors ultimately want to see.
\n
2. 3M
\n
Dividend yield: 3.3%
\n
If you're looking for a thrilling stock pick, don't even bother looking at 3M (NYSE:MMM). The company isn't developing any cutting-edge technology, researching a cure for cancer, or embracing digital alternatives to government-issued currency. That year's revenue of just under $4.1 billion was still within sight of 2006's peak sales of a little less than $4.3 billion, and by 2010 things were humming again. The company was even on pace to report record-breaking sales of around $4.8 billion in 2020 before COVID-19 disrupted things. Even so, Leggett & Platt managed to do nearly $4.3 billion worth of business last year, remaining within sight of 2019's then-record revenue of more than $4.7 billion. Guidance for this year puts a new sales record within reach. And, thanks to a generous stock-buyback program, this year's projected profit of between $2.30 and $2.60 per share puts the prospect of record-breaking earnings on the table as well.
\n
Then there's the even-more-overlooked detail about Leggett & Platt that investors don't seem to fully appreciate. That is, not only is this furniture and flooring company a Dividend Aristocrat, it's now a Dividend King, boasting 50 consecutive years of annual dividend growth. That has investors searching elsewhere for ways to get a decent return on their investment capital. One option available is dividend-yielding stocks. But finding a decent yield on a dividend-paying stock when the market is generating such high valuations isn't easy.\nCuriously though, not every dividend-paying stock currently sports a rock-bottom yield. A handful of high-quality names are still dishing out above-average dividends and should continue to do so into the indefinite future.\nHere's a closer look at my three favorite such picks right now.\nImage source: Getty Images.\n1. Coca-Cola\nDividend yield: 3.1%\nYou know the brand, perhaps as well as any other company in the world. Coca-Cola (NYSE:KO) has been around since 1886 and its products are woven into the very fabric of our culture. Its stock has not only paid a reliable quarterly dividend for decades now, but it has increased its annualized payments every year since 1962. That's the upside of selling products that consumers are willing to buy over and over again (often without a second thought).\nThose who keep close tabs on Coca-Cola may well know the company's top line has been contracting of late (and that was before pandemic-related shutdowns got in the way). Indeed, sales have been slumping since 2013, giving would-be buyers pause. That shrinking top line, however, isn't nearly as much the result of health-minded concerns -- the avoidance of sugary sodas -- as you might think. It's largely by design.\nSee, the company has made a point of getting out of the bottling business and it's focusing more on the licensing and franchising business. That's what income-seeking investors ultimately want to see.\n2. 3M\nDividend yield: 3.3%\nIf you're looking for a thrilling stock pick, don't even bother looking at 3M (NYSE:MMM). The company isn't developing any cutting-edge technology, researching a cure for cancer, or embracing digital alternatives to government-issued currency. It's boring.\nBut, that's kind of the point.\nThere's a suite of 3M products you probably know. This is the parent to Post-it notes, Scotch Tape, and Filtrete HVAC filters. That's only a small sampling of what the company sells though. This company also makes products used in the manufacturing of consumer electronics, power line equipment employed by electric utility providers, reflective materials used to make road signs, and food-safety testing materials, just to name a few.\nIt's not a stretch to suggest that 3M, in one way or another, is all around you every day. It's a consumer staples stock within the industrial world at least as much as it is in the consumer goods arena. While 3M ran into some fiscal turbulence in 2018, those suppressed profits were ultimately linked to a business transformation meant to drive new growth as well as reduce long-term costs.\nIt seems to have worked too, in spades. The $5.91 worth of per-share dividends paid over the course of the past four quarters are only a fraction of the record-breaking per-share profits of $10.17 earned during this time. This company's got plenty of room to keep funding (and raising) its payout.\n3. Leggett & Platt\nDividend yield: 3.7%\nFinally, I'm adding Leggett & Platt (NYSE:LEG) to my list of top dividend stocks to step into before September ends and October begins.\nLeggett & Platt, of course, makes bedding, furniture, and flooring. They're usually healthy industries, but hardly riveting. Ergo, it's one of those names that's easily -- and often -- overlooked.\nDon't let the ho-hum nature of its business deter you from noticing the fact, however, that this company's top and bottom lines are resilient. If so, you're in good company. Warren Buffett, the CEO of powerhouse investment company Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.A)(NYSE:BRK.B), is fond of them too; Berkshire's equity portfolio is stuffed with companies that pay their shareholders on the regular.
\n
One stock in particular stands out. Not only does it have the fourth-highest yield of all 46 stocks in the portfolio, but Berkshire's position of more than $800 million gives Buffett's company a big 9% holding in the company. Read on to find out why Buffett and his team are all-in on this high-yield stock (which currently tips the scales at 4.7%).
\n
A great store of value
\n
Let's pull the curtain back: The stock in question is Store Capital (NYSE:STOR), which has the distinction of being Berkshire's only real estate investment trust (REIT). As a retail REIT, Store Capital owns and leases retail properties, specifically those operated by single tenants.
\n
But uniqueness in a portfolio and obvious affection from the investing master are not sufficient reasons for us to put money into a stock (plus, we should remember that Buffett has had his share of misfires -- for example, with troubled food giant Kraft Heinz). So let's explore whether or not Store Capital is a worthy buy for the average investor.
\n

\n
\n
Buffett has always been drawn to companies with straightforward business models and reliable growth. Store Capital certainly ticks those boxes; in the pre-pandemic days, it did a fine job of increasing its revenue. In fact, it managed to nearly double its top line from 2016 to 2019, from just over $376 million to nearly $700 million. Adjusted funds from operations (or AFFO, the most meaningful profitability metric for REITs) leaped even higher, rising from $246 million in 2016 to $463 million in 2019.
\n
REITs are obligated to spend the vast bulk of their net profits on shareholder remuneration, which is why their dividends tend to be generous relative to other types of companies.
\n
Store Capital is no different, and thanks to that rising AFFO and bottom line, there always seems to be room for an increase. The REIT has boosted its quarterly dividend at least once annually since going public in late 2014. Across that not-quite-seven year stretch the payout has ballooned from slightly over $0.11 per share to the present level of $0.36.
\n
The coronavirus pandemic crashed hard into the retail sector, leading to store closures and a general reluctance among customers to leave their homes to shop. That would have been devastating for Store Capital had it not been so widely diversified. The company has properties in 49 states, only one of which (Texas) comprises over 10% of the total dollar amount of that portfolio. The REIT is even more assertive in hedging its tenant list; no single renter is responsible for more than 3% of the total.
\n
As a result, compared to many other retail REITs (and the retail industry in general), Store Capital has done a good job threading its way through the pandemic. As the coronavirus spread last year, the company pulled back sharply on its typically busy acquisition activity, reducing its buys to a total of just over $800 million, down from $1.69 billion in 2019 and $1.63 billion in 2018.
\n
Still, $800 million is a big pile for asset buys. So that curtailed-yet-still-vibrant investment activity, combined with Store Capital's standard rent increases, helped the company actually grow its revenue for the year (it was up by over 4% compared to 2019). AFFO inched up by slightly more than 1% -- a pretty small number, but hey, in that environment any growth at all was an impressive feat.
\n
Open doors and open wallets
\n
So it stands to reason that as the coronavirus (hopefully) starts to recede in a big way as the threat of the delta variant decreases, Store Capital will be in a position to really rack it up. In announcing its second-quarter results in August, the company lifted its AFFO guidance for the full year to $1.94 to $1.97 per share from the previous $1.90-to-$1.96 range. If realized, this would be a meaningful improvement over 2020's $1.83.
\n
I think Store Capital's new forecast is still conservative. With recent large-scale vaccination mandates dealing hard blows to the coronavirus, even more people will escape their homes for bouts of shopping, to the point where crowds will be the rule and not the exception.
\n
When this happens, this REIT will start putting up some powerful growth numbers. Store Capital more than held its own during the pandemic; imagine how well it'll do in a much healthier and freer environment.
\n
We can also easily envision the company maintaining its dividend raise habit as we return to something approaching normal life. Investors, particularly dividend stock aficionados, should absolutely consider putting this stock in their shopping cart.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Warren Buffett Loves This High-Yield Dividend Stock. If so, you're in good company. Warren Buffett, the CEO of powerhouse investment company Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.A)(NYSE:BRK.B), is fond of them too; Berkshire's equity portfolio is stuffed with companies that pay their shareholders on the regular.\nOne stock in particular stands out. Not only does it have the fourth-highest yield of all 46 stocks in the portfolio, but Berkshire's position of more than $800 million gives Buffett's company a big 9% holding in the company. Read on to find out why Buffett and his team are all-in on this high-yield stock (which currently tips the scales at 4.7%).\nA great store of value\nLet's pull the curtain back: The stock in question is Store Capital (NYSE:STOR), which has the distinction of being Berkshire's only real estate investment trust (REIT). As a retail REIT, Store Capital owns and leases retail properties, specifically those operated by single tenants.\nBut uniqueness in a portfolio and obvious affection from the investing master are not sufficient reasons for us to put money into a stock (plus, we should remember that Buffett has had his share of misfires -- for example, with troubled food giant Kraft Heinz). So let's explore whether or not Store Capital is a worthy buy for the average investor.\n\nImage source: Getty Images.\nBuffett has always been drawn to companies with straightforward business models and reliable growth. Store Capital certainly ticks those boxes; in the pre-pandemic days, it did a fine job of increasing its revenue. In fact, it managed to nearly double its top line from 2016 to 2019, from just over $376 million to nearly $700 million. Adjusted funds from operations (or AFFO, the most meaningful profitability metric for REITs) leaped even higher, rising from $246 million in 2016 to $463 million in 2019.\nREITs are obligated to spend the vast bulk of their net profits on shareholder remuneration, which is why their dividends tend to be generous relative to other types of companies.\nStore Capital is no different, and thanks to that rising AFFO and bottom line, there always seems to be room for an increase. The REIT has boosted its quarterly dividend at least once annually since going public in late 2014. Across that not-quite-seven year stretch the payout has ballooned from slightly over $0.11 per share to the present level of $0.36.\nThe coronavirus pandemic crashed hard into the retail sector, leading to store closures and a general reluctance among customers to leave their homes to shop. That would have been devastating for Store Capital had it not been so widely diversified. The company has properties in 49 states, only one of which (Texas) comprises over 10% of the total dollar amount of that portfolio. The REIT is even more assertive in hedging its tenant list; no single renter is responsible for more than 3% of the total.\nAs a result, compared to many other retail REITs (and the retail industry in general), Store Capital has done a good job threading its way through the pandemic. As the coronavirus spread last year, the company pulled back sharply on its typically busy acquisition activity, reducing its buys to a total of just over $800 million, down from $1.69 billion in 2019 and $1.63 billion in 2018.\nStill, $800 million is a big pile for asset buys. So that curtailed-yet-still-vibrant investment activity, combined with Store Capital's standard rent increases, helped the company actually grow its revenue for the year (it was up by over 4% compared to 2019). AFFO inched up by slightly more than 1% -- a pretty small number, but hey, in that environment any growth at all was an impressive feat.\nOpen doors and open wallets\nSo it stands to reason that as the coronavirus (hopefully) starts to recede in a big way as the threat of the delta variant decreases, Store Capital will be in a position to really rack it up. In announcing its second-quarter results in August, the company lifted its AFFO guidance for the full year to $1.94 to $1.97 per share from the previous $1.90-to-$1.96 range. If realized, this would be a meaningful improvement over 2020's $1.83.\nI think Store Capital's new forecast is still conservative. With recent large-scale vaccination mandates dealing hard blows to the coronavirus, even more people will escape their homes for bouts of shopping, to the point where crowds will be the rule and not the exception.\nWhen this happens, this REIT will start putting up some powerful growth numbers. Store Capital more than held its own during the pandemic; imagine how well it'll do in a much healthier and freer environment.\nWe can also easily envision the company maintaining its dividend raise habit as we return to something approaching normal life. Investors, particularly dividend stock aficionados, should absolutely consider putting this stock in their shopping cart.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":103,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":860833184,"gmtCreate":1632150537148,"gmtModify":1632802486288,"author":{"id":"4088782717346270","authorId":"4088782717346270","name":"banana3441","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a910c5331a8af8671a901dc8dcf8396a","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4088782717346270","authorIdStr":"4088782717346270"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$AMD(AMD)$hold","listText":"$AMD(AMD)$hold","text":"$AMD(AMD)$hold","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/24ec1dd667258eadf89b05b90943e60f","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/860833184","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":239,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":842405279,"gmtCreate":1636211326790,"gmtModify":1636211327000,"author":{"id":"4088782717346270","authorId":"4088782717346270","name":"banana3441","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a910c5331a8af8671a901dc8dcf8396a","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4088782717346270","authorIdStr":"4088782717346270"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like","listText":"Like","text":"Like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/842405279","repostId":"1136116425","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1136116425","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1636104081,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1136116425?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-11-05 17:21","market":"us","language":"en","title":"U.S. Daylight Saving Time Ends on Sunday, Nov.7 2021","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1136116425","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Dear Tigers, U.S. Daylight Saving Time Ends on Sunday, Nov.7 2021,at 2:00 a.m.\nAt that time, the regu","content":"
Dear Tigers, U.S. Daylight Saving Time Ends on Sunday, Nov.7 2021,at 2:00 a.m.
\n
At that time, the regular trading period of the US stock market will move toward by one hour, which will become 22:30 p.m.to 5:00 a.m(Beijing Time/SGT).
\n

\n
Trading Hours
\n
U.S. Eastern Time:9:30 ~ 16:00; With Columbus Day","content":"
It's also Indigenous Peoples Day.
\n
It's almost a perennial question on Wall Street. With Columbus Day a federal holiday on Monday, investors are curious if the stock market will be opened.
\n
Here is the short answer: yes. But it isn't that simple.
\n
The bond market isn't. Bond traders are off as recommended by the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, known as Sifma.
\n
Columbus Day and Veterans Day are the two federal holidays when fixed-income markets are closed due to the federal holiday.
\n
As per usual, the Intercontinental Exchange$(ICE)$-owned New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq Inc. $(NDAQ)$ will both be open regular hours. So, the Dow Jones Industrial Average , the S&P 500 index and the Nasdaq Composite Index , to note the three main U.S. bourses, can figure out whether the weaker-than-expected jobs report released on Friday was bullish or bearish in the near term.
\n
Meanwhile, benchmark bonds can take a breather after the 10-year Treasury note yield, 30-year Treasury bond and 2-year Treasury note touched their highest yields in months (since March of 2020 in the case of the shorter-date debt).
\n
Now back to Columbus Day and the curious case of mixed up market closures.
\n
Here's perhaps why it is closed and equities trade on.
\n
Begun back in 1792 and declared a federal day off in 1937 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Columbus Day marks a state and federal holiday. Federal offices, including the U.S. Treasury Department, are closed. That means, Treasurys--a chunk of typical trading activity on regular days and a key benchmark--are also forced to take a holiday.
\n
Columbus Day isn't without its controversy as a holiday intended to celebrate Christopher Columbus for sailing the ocean blue in 1492. Firstly, not all states celebrate the Italian explorer's occasion on the same day. Tennessee tends to celebrate the holiday on Friday. Some states don't acknowledge the day at all, with Alaska, Vermont, Hawaii and South Dakota choosing not to observe it.
\n
Some regions choose to celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day, which honors Native Americans and challenges the concept that Columbus was the first to discover America. The holiday has been gaining support, as an alternative to Columbus Day.
\n
So, the next time that someone asks if the market is open on Columbus Day, you can tell them that it is complicated.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Is the stock market open on Columbus Day? Apple’s own payment system takes a 30% cut from large developers.
\n
Data from the app tracker SensorTower shows that in calendar 2020, Apple had overall revenue from the App Store of $72.3 billion, generating an estimated $21.7 billion in fees, or about 7% of Apple’s overall revenues. That includes $21 billion in spending in the U.S., generating about $6.3 billion in fees, or about 2% of annualized revenues.
\n
SensorTower estimates that mobile-game spending in the App Store in calendar 2020 was $47.6 billion, generating $14.3 billion in fees, or a little under 5% of Apple’s total revenues.
\n
Gene Munster, managing director of the venture firm Loup Capital and a former sell-side analyst with a long history of tracking Apple, estimated that the App Store accounts for about 14% of the company’s profits. He sees “at most” a 2% headwind to overall revenue, and a potential 4% hit to profits.
\n
“After the first year of these changes, app store growth rates will return to normal,” he said. “Bottom line, it’s at most a one-year headwind and does not change the big picture of where Apple is going over the next 5 years.”
\n
Evercore ISI analyst Amit Daryanani said in a research note that the ruling is a setback for Apple, but that the eventual impact is likely to be manageable, given Apple has alternative ways to generate revenue from the store, including its growing in-store ad business. And he noted that Apple actually got a win on a bigger issue in the case: The judge rejected Epic’s assertion that the App Store is an illegal monopoly. Daryanani estimated the risk to Apple’s per-share earnings at 2% to 4%.
\n
Wedbush analyst Dan Ives told Barron’s he thinks the worst-case scenario is a 3% to 4% hit to revenues, describing the risk as a “rounding error.” While Ives said the Street had expected an across-the-board win for Apple, the mixed decision removes an overhang on the stock and that investors are likely relieved to put the issue to rest.
\n
The ruling is more a positive for companies like Spotify Technology and Match Group than it is a negative for Apple, he said.
