In other words, some good traits to look for are valuations that make sense relative to a company's growth trajectory and market opportunity, and durable business models with proven track records. While there's no way to avoid volatility, owning resilient companies can at least help investors better weather near-term challenges (mentally and emotionally) since they know their investments have what it takes to endure.
\n
Two companies that fit this description are Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:FB) and Tractor Supply Company (NASDAQ:TSCO). Here's a look at why both of these stocks are good bets for 2022 and beyond.
\n
Meta Platforms
\n
The case for Meta Platforms is straightforward. The tech stock's valuation is very cheap relative to the company's recent growth. Consider that the Facebook parent's trailing-12-month revenue and net income of $112 billion and $40 billion, respectively, are up from $71 billion and $18 billion in 2019. Even with such staggering recent growth, Meta Platforms trades at only 24 times its current level of earnings.
\n
While the company is running into some near-term growth headwinds related to Apple's recent changes to advertising tracking and measurement, it's not like the suppressed growth Meta Platforms is expecting is poor. Management guided for fourth-quarter revenue to be between $31.5 billion and $34 billion. The midpoint of this guidance range represents 17% revenue growth. Further, analysts are still modeling for exceptional earnings-per-share growth over the next five years. On average, analysts currently expect Meta Platforms' earnings per share to compound at a growth rate of 21% annually over this period.
\n
Meta Platforms' network effect of billions of monthly active users makes its business very durable. Not only has the company's core Facebook platform consistently grown larger with no close challenger, but the company's other social networks with more intense competition (namely Instagram) have shown they can easily deploy features that imitate successful competitors, helping them stay relevant.
\n
Tractor Supply Company
\n
Some city folk may have never even stepped foot in a Tractor Supply store. But investors shouldn't overlook this investment just because they're not familiar with the retailer. Tractor Supply, which specializes in rural lifestyle, has a strong retail niche and is capitalizing well on several different important growth catalysts, including private label and exclusive brands, pet food, and e-commerce. Its balanced business has helped revenue grow 24% year over year in the trailing 12 months, and helped earnings per share grow 22%.
\n
Tractor Supply is notably mastering e-commerce in a market where many of its customers live farther apart than people do in the city. These communities come with unique challenges that Tractor Supply is able to develop expertise in, and the company's strategy is working. Tractor Supply said on its most recent earnings call that its e-commerce sales increased at a rate faster than 40% year over year.
\n
While the stock's price-to-earnings ratio of 29 isn't exactly cheap, the company's positioning as the lead retailer for the rural lifestyle makes this business worth paying up for. Given how specialized Tractor Supply is, it would be very difficult for a competitor to topple it. The company also pays a dividend and is regularly repurchasing shares, supplementing shareholder value creation.
\n
Facebook and Tractor Supply together represent two solid ideas from very different industries that provide meaningful long-term growth potential for investors.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
2 Top Stocks to Buy for the New Year
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n2 Top Stocks to Buy for the New Year\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-12-25 10:07 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
With talks of likely interest rate hikes from the Federal Reserve in 2022 and the coronavirus pandemic still making the rounds, one key characteristic investors should look for in investments going ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"TSCO":"拖拉机供应公司"},"source_url":"https://www.fool.com/investing/2021/12/24/2-top-stocks-to-buy-for-the-new-year/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"2193720178","content_text":"With talks of likely interest rate hikes from the Federal Reserve in 2022 and the coronavirus pandemic still making the rounds, one key characteristic investors should look for in investments going into the new year is resilience. It will also purchase Airbus A220 planes to replace 20 Boeing 717s that ply regional routes inside Australia.\nThe decision is a coup for Airbus as it races to match Boeing's Max order bonanza by year-end. The European planemaker also landed a commitment from Singapore Airlines for its A350 freighter Wednesday and has an opportunity to make headway with Air France-KLM, which is set to announce replacements for its aging Boeing 737s.\nQantas committed to buy 40 planes with a list price of at least US$4.6 billion before discounts. The carrier also has purchase-right options on 94 additional aircraft spanning more than a decade. In total, the order is set to be the largest in Australian aviation history, the airline said.\nThe fleet decision means Qantas and its low-cost Jetstar division are likely to be flying mostly Airbus planes on their domestic and international networks for decades to come. Boeing's Dreamliner, still favored by Qantas on some popular long-haul routes, is now set to be the U.S. company's main model at the Australian airline.\nQantas shares climbed as much as 2.3 per cent in early trading, before reversing gains to be down 1.2 per cent at A$4.81 at 11:03 a.m. in Sydney, giving the airline a market value of about A$9.1 billion.\nIn a statement, Mr Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International, said competition for the deal with Qantas had \"pushed the boundaries\" of \"operational and financial evaluation.\"\nShares of Chicago-based Boeing fell in New York trading before erasing declines in the wake of a Federal Reserve announcement that it expects to raise interest rates in 2022 at a faster pace than expected.\n\"Although we are disappointed, we respect Qantas' decision and look forward to continuing our long-standing partnership,\" Boeing said in a statement.\nQantas is the latest carrier to bet that travel will eventually rebound even with the threat of the new Covid-19 variant omicron hanging over the world. Virgin Australia, a domestic rival emerging from a restructuring, has already unveiled an order for 25 of Boeing's largest 737 Max model.\nAccording to Mr Alan Joyce, Qantas's chief executive officer, it's a great time to buy aircraft because manufacturers are eager to nail down sales and are offering advantageous pricing.\nThe new aircraft will also reduce fuel and maintenance costs, while cutting carbon emissions. \"This is a clear sign of our confidence in the future,\" Joyce said in the statement. \"We've locked in pricing just ahead of what's likely to be a big uptick in demand for next-generation narrow-body aircraft.\"\nThe Australian flag carrier is eyeing even more planes as it pushes ahead with plans to start long-haul flights halfway around the globe. Non-stop services connecting Sydney with New York and London, a project thrown into doubt by Covid, are due to start as soon as 2024.\nQantas has already picked Airbus's A350-1000 as its preferred aircraft for the flights and is due to decide on a firm jet order in early 2022. Separately, Qantas forecast it will post a fiscal first-half loss of A$250 million to A$300 million.\nWith most of Australia's internal borders now open, domestic capacity is expected to exceed pre-Covid levels in the first six months of next year.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":359,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":877277636,"gmtCreate":1637939448961,"gmtModify":1637939449059,"author":{"id":"4087632630520920","authorId":"4087632630520920","name":"mintcookie","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/5a506061d4a1502e786b64e0a9a943f1","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Oh","listText":"Oh","text":"Oh","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/877277636","repostId":"1135717003","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":490,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":878839967,"gmtCreate":1637163765876,"gmtModify":1637163765988,"author":{"id":"4087632630520920","authorId":"4087632630520920","name":"mintcookie","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/5a506061d4a1502e786b64e0a9a943f1","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Oh","listText":"Oh","text":"Oh","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/878839967","repostId":"1146815666","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1146815666","pubTimestamp":1637162861,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1146815666?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-11-17 23:27","market":"us","language":"en","title":"AIG, Underwriters Lean on Reinsurance With Prices Poised to Jump","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1146815666","media":"Bloomberg","summary":"American International Group Inc. and other insurers avoided steep losses from a spate of extreme we","content":"
American International Group Inc. and other insurers avoided steep losses from a spate of extreme weather this year thanks in part to the reinsurance industry. But increased reliance on those policies probably means price hikes are coming.
\n
“This year we’re seeing good demand and good price increases for reinsurance, and I think that just keeps happening,” Matthew Palazola, an analyst with Bloomberg Intelligence, said in an interview.
\n
Disaster costs this year are approaching $300 billion, and insurers are expected to foot the bill for more than $100 billion of those losses, according to data from insurance brokerage Aon Plc. AIG Chief Executive Officer Peter Zaffino this month pegged global third-quarter catastrophe losses at $45 billion to $55 billion.
\n
Paying those bills was easier because of coverage from reinsurers -- the firms that backstop risks for insurance companies -- helping AIG and its peers power through the catastrophe-heavy third quarter and still report a profit. It’s likely the industry’s reliance on reinsurance will increase as extreme weather becomes more common.
\n
“If climate change has a truly material impact on the volatility of these events and the size of these events, then reinsurance becomes more and more important,” J. Paul Newsome, an analyst with Piper Sandler Cos., said in an interview.
\n
Greater Severity
\n
The insurance industry is set to surpass $100 billion in losses in 2021 for the fourth time in five years, according to Aon, and company executives have pointed to rising global temperatures and ensuing extreme weather as key culprits.
\n
“We’ve never seen consistent CAT losses at this level,” AIG’s Zaffino said on a conference call with analysts earlier this month, referring to catastrophe losses. The industry needs “to acknowledge that frequency and severity has changed dramatically as a result of climate change and other factors.”
\n
It’s too early to say exactly how much reinsurers are on the hook for when it comes to Hurricane Ida and other third-quarter natural disasters, according to Tom Johansmeyer, who heads Verisk Analytics Inc.’s property-claim services division. The process typically takes many months, he said.
\n
But it’s clear those disasters battered reinsurers. The property-casualty reinsurance business at Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc. posted an underwriting loss of $247 million in the third quarter, compared to a profit of $99 million during the same period a year earlier. Berkshire attributed some of the reversal to “significant catastrophe events,” including Hurricane Ida.
\n
As reinsurers grapple with more destructive natural disasters, as well as inflation in the cost of construction materials, higher premiums can’t be far behind. Another possible option is fine-tuning the models they rely on to better grasp their exposure.
\n
“It all comes down to pricing the risks appropriately,” said Karen Clark, CEO and co-founder of risk modeler Karen Clark & Co. The firm estimated in a white paper this month that average annual hurricane wind losses could increase 10% to 19% by 2050 as climate change strengthens storms.
\n
Outside Capital
\n
While steeper losses mean higher prices, there is one encouraging development for the reinsurance industry: Financing has become easier to secure.
\n
“The path for capital to get to the reinsurance market has been well-paved,” Palazola at Bloomberg Intelligence said. “You can participate in this market a lot more ways.”
\n
Rates in the sector are becoming particularly attractive for outside sources of capital, and that could help to keep prices down, Palazola said.
\n
At the same time, higher reinsurance rates could bode well for hedge funds and pensions that seek out tangential investments such as catastrophe bonds. Pricing for those securities often mimic reinsurance rates, since both markets rely on modeled natural-disaster losses.
\n
And it’s been a booming market, with $13 billion of bonds issued in the 12 months through June 30, $4 billion more than a year earlier, according to data from Aon. More broadly, capital tied to insurance-linked securities increased to $97 billion from $91 billion.
\n
For their part, reinsurers see an opportunity to tackle one of the vexing issues facing the global financial system and society more broadly.
\n
“Due to our industry’s holistic view of the risk chain, we are uniquely positioned to understand the systemic risks of climate change, and deploy the capital needed to better protect people in the face of extreme events,” RenaissanceRe Holdings Ltd. It took less than 17 months for the benchmark S&P 500 (SNPINDEX:^GSPC) to double in value since bottoming out in March 2020. Additionally, the biggest pullback endured by investors over the past 11 months is just 5%. This has been the strongest bounce-back rally from a bear-market bottom of all time.
\n
Unfortunately, there are also plenty of warning signs that this perfect rally may soon end.Image source: Getty Images.
\n
History may not be the market's friend in the near term
\n
To preface the commentary below, we're never going to know ahead of time precisely when a stock market crash or steep correction will occur, how long it'll last, or how steep the decline will be. Nevertheless, the data clearly shows that crashes and corrections are a normal part of the investing cycle and the price of admission to one of the greatest wealth creators on the planet.
\n
For instance, the way the S&P 500 has responded following each of the previous bear-market bottoms, dating back to 1960, is telling. We've witnessed either one or two declines of at least 10% within 36 months following a bear market trough. We've yet to navigate our way through a double-digit percentage decline after the March 2020 bottom (19 months and counting).
\n
Another telltale warning for investors is the valuation of the S&P 500. As of the close of business on Monday, Oct. 25, the S&P 500's Shiller price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio stood at 38.9, which is well over double its 151-year average (16.9). The bigger concern is that in each of the previous four instances where the S&P 500's Shiller P/E ratio surpassed 30, the index subsequently lost 20% (or more) of its value.
\n
Even margin debt serves as a focal point of concern. Margin debt describes the amount of money borrowed with interest to purchase or short-sell securities. While it's not abnormal for margin debt to increase over time, it isn't normal for margin debt to increase 60% or more in a single year, as it's done in 2021. The previous two times we've watched margin debt climb at least 60% in a year since 1995 were just before the dot-com bubble burst and months before the financial crisis (2007-2009).
\n
Long story short, a crash or correction may well be on the horizon.
\n

\n
\n
This stock trio offers surefire opportunity during a crash
\n
However, there are two sides to every story. While stock market crashes and corrections might lead to some temporary red ink in investors' portfolios, these natural downturns also serve as the perfect opportunity to buy great stocks at bargain prices. If a stock market crash were to occur, investors shouldn't hesitate to buy the following three stocks hand over fist.
\n
CrowdStrike Holdings
\n
Cybersecurity is easily one of the greatest growth trends over the next decade. Regardless of how well or poorly the stock market or U.S. economy are performing, hackers and robots don't take a day off from trying to steal consumer and enterprise data. That's why any significant dips in CrowdStrike Holdings (NASDAQ:CRWD) are a hand-over-fist buying opportunity.
\n
What makes CrowdStrike so special is its Falcon security platform. Falcon is a cloud-native solution that relies on artificial intelligence to grow smarter and more efficient at recognizing threats over time. According to the company, Falcon oversees approximately 1 trillion events per day. In many instances, cloud-native solutions are faster and more cost-effective at identifying and responding to threats relative to on-premises security solutions.
\n
CrowdStrike's operating results show what a monster it's become in the cybersecurity space. The company's subscriber count has grown from 450 to north of 13,000 in less than five years. Likewise, the percentage of subscribers with four or more cloud-module subscriptions has catapulted from under 10% to 66% in the same less-than-five-year time frame. These are high-margin subscriptions, and the company's clients seem more than willing to add on services as they grow.
\n
Despite still being in its early growth phase, CrowdStrike's subscription gross margin has already hit the company's long-term target of around 80%. This makes CrowdStrike a no-brainer buy for investors on any weakness.
\n

\n
\n
Bank of America
\n
Bank stocks might not be the first thing that comes to mind during a stock market crash, but in this unique instance, Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) is a company investors can confidently buy hand over fist.
\n
Generally speaking, bank stocks like BofA benefit from the natural growth of the U.S. economy over time. Even though recessions are an inevitable part of the economic cycle, they often last for a few months to a couple of quarters. Meanwhile, periods of economic growth last for years. These long-winded periods of expansion allow Bank of America to take advantage of the bread-and-butter of banking: Loan and deposit growth.
\n
The interesting thing about Bank of America is its interest rate sensitivity. No money-center bank will see a bigger windfall from higher interest rates than BofA. According to a third-quarter earnings presentation, a 100-basis-point parallel shift in the interest rate yield curve would add an estimated $7.2 billion in net interest income over 12 months. With yields near historic lows, they pretty much have nowhere to go but up.
\n
Bank of America has also done an excellent job of promoting digital banking. The number of digital active users has grown by almost 5 million in three years, with 43% of all sales in the third quarter completed online or via mobile app. That's up 16 percentage points from Q3 2018. This online shift has allowed the company to reduce its expenses by consolidating some of its physical branches.
\n

\n
\n
Square
\n
A third and final stock investors can purchase hand over fist if the market crashes or steeply corrects is fintech company Square (NYSE:SQ).
\n
For more than a decade, Square's seller ecosystem has been its foundational operating segment. The seller ecosystem provides point-of-sale devices, loans, analytics, and other tools to help merchants succeed. After seeing $6.5 billion in gross payment volume (GPV) traverse its platform in 2012, Square's GPV might top $150 billion in 2021.
\n
An interesting trend within this segment is the shift toward bigger businesses using Square's payment solutions. Whereas Square's merchant solutions have previously catered to small businesses and entrepreneurs, 65% of all seller ecosystem GPV originated with businesses generating $125,000 or more in annual GPV during the second quarter. Bigger businesses should lead to more revenue and gross profit for Square.
\n
Of course, the more substantive long-term growth driver is peer-to-peer digital payments platform Cash App. In just three years (ended Dec. 31, 2020), Cash App's monthly active user (MAU) count more than quintupled to 36 million. Additionally, gross profit per user has more than doubled to $55 per MAU, as of June 2021. This compares to only $5 in costs to attract each new MAU.
\n
With Square recently announcing the acquisition of buy now, pay later giant Afterpay for $29 billion, it'll soon have a closed-loop payment system that'll connect Cash App to the seller ecosystem. In other words, growth for Square is still in its early stages.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 Stocks to Buy Hand Over Fist If a Stock Market Crash Occurs
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 Stocks to Buy Hand Over Fist If a Stock Market Crash Occurs\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-10-31 11:06 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Whether you realize it or not, Wall Street and investors are enjoying a truly historic run. As of the close of business on Monday, Oct. 25, the S&P 500's Shiller price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio stood at 38.9, which is well over double its 151-year average (16.9). The bigger concern is that in each of the previous four instances where the S&P 500's Shiller P/E ratio surpassed 30, the index subsequently lost 20% (or more) of its value.\nEven margin debt serves as a focal point of concern. Margin debt describes the amount of money borrowed with interest to purchase or short-sell securities. While it's not abnormal for margin debt to increase over time, it isn't normal for margin debt to increase 60% or more in a single year, as it's done in 2021. The previous two times we've watched margin debt climb at least 60% in a year since 1995 were just before the dot-com bubble burst and months before the financial crisis (2007-2009).\nLong story short, a crash or correction may well be on the horizon.\n\nImage source: Getty Images.\nThis stock trio offers surefire opportunity during a crash\nHowever, there are two sides to every story. While stock market crashes and corrections might lead to some temporary red ink in investors' portfolios, these natural downturns also serve as the perfect opportunity to buy great stocks at bargain prices. If a stock market crash were to occur, investors shouldn't hesitate to buy the following three stocks hand over fist.\nCrowdStrike Holdings\nCybersecurity is easily one of the greatest growth trends over the next decade. Regardless of how well or poorly the stock market or U.S. economy are performing, hackers and robots don't take a day off from trying to steal consumer and enterprise data. That's why any significant dips in CrowdStrike Holdings (NASDAQ:CRWD) are a hand-over-fist buying opportunity.\nWhat makes CrowdStrike so special is its Falcon security platform. Falcon is a cloud-native solution that relies on artificial intelligence to grow smarter and more efficient at recognizing threats over time. According to the company, Falcon oversees approximately 1 trillion events per day. In many instances, cloud-native solutions are faster and more cost-effective at identifying and responding to threats relative to on-premises security solutions.\nCrowdStrike's operating results show what a monster it's become in the cybersecurity space. The company's subscriber count has grown from 450 to north of 13,000 in less than five years. Likewise, the percentage of subscribers with four or more cloud-module subscriptions has catapulted from under 10% to 66% in the same less-than-five-year time frame. These are high-margin subscriptions, and the company's clients seem more than willing to add on services as they grow.\nDespite still being in its early growth phase, CrowdStrike's subscription gross margin has already hit the company's long-term target of around 80%. This makes CrowdStrike a no-brainer buy for investors on any weakness.\n\nImage source: Getty Images.\nBank of America\nBank stocks might not be the first thing that comes to mind during a stock market crash, but in this unique instance, Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) is a company investors can confidently buy hand over fist.\nGenerally speaking, bank stocks like BofA benefit from the natural growth of the U.S. economy over time. Even though recessions are an inevitable part of the economic cycle, they often last for a few months to a couple of quarters. Meanwhile, periods of economic growth last for years. These long-winded periods of expansion allow Bank of America to take advantage of the bread-and-butter of banking: Loan and deposit growth.\nThe interesting thing about Bank of America is its interest rate sensitivity. No money-center bank will see a bigger windfall from higher interest rates than BofA. According to a third-quarter earnings presentation, a 100-basis-point parallel shift in the interest rate yield curve would add an estimated $7.2 billion in net interest income over 12 months. With yields near historic lows, they pretty much have nowhere to go but up.\nBank of America has also done an excellent job of promoting digital banking. The number of digital active users has grown by almost 5 million in three years, with 43% of all sales in the third quarter completed online or via mobile app. That's up 16 percentage points from Q3 2018. This online shift has allowed the company to reduce its expenses by consolidating some of its physical branches.\n\nImage source: Square.\nSquare\nA third and final stock investors can purchase hand over fist if the market crashes or steeply corrects is fintech company Square (NYSE:SQ).\nFor more than a decade, Square's seller ecosystem has been its foundational operating segment. The seller ecosystem provides point-of-sale devices, loans, analytics, and other tools to help merchants succeed. After seeing $6.5 billion in gross payment volume (GPV) traverse its platform in 2012, Square's GPV might top $150 billion in 2021.\nAn interesting trend within this segment is the shift toward bigger businesses using Square's payment solutions. Whereas Square's merchant solutions have previously catered to small businesses and entrepreneurs, 65% of all seller ecosystem GPV originated with businesses generating $125,000 or more in annual GPV during the second quarter. Bigger businesses should lead to more revenue and gross profit for Square.\nOf course, the more substantive long-term growth driver is peer-to-peer digital payments platform Cash App. In just three years (ended Dec. 31, 2020), Cash App's monthly active user (MAU) count more than quintupled to 36 million. Additionally, gross profit per user has more than doubled to $55 per MAU, as of June 2021. This compares to only $5 in costs to attract each new MAU.\nWith Square recently announcing the acquisition of buy now, pay later giant Afterpay for $29 billion, it'll soon have a closed-loop payment system that'll connect Cash App to the seller ecosystem. In other words, growth for Square is still in its early stages.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":287,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":857615387,"gmtCreate":1635521525816,"gmtModify":1635521525816,"author":{"id":"4087632630520920","authorId":"4087632630520920","name":"mintcookie","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/5a506061d4a1502e786b64e0a9a943f1","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"oh","listText":"oh","text":"oh","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/857615387","repostId":"2179706249","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2179706249","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Reuters.com Fool","summary":"There are few better roads to building wealth over your lifetime than investing in the stock market.","content":"
There are few better roads to building wealth over your lifetime than investing in the stock market. The long-term average return for the S&P 500 has been about 11% per year, and that's through depressions and recessions, war and civil unrest.
\n
The one certainty seems to be that no matter how bad things get, things always get better and actually improve. The beauty of stock investing is that you don't actually need to have a lot of money to get started and turn a small grubstake into a retirement nest egg.
\n
You could park $500 in the stock index for 25 years and not add another dollar and have it turn into $7,500 at those market averages. But the following two stocks should help your small investing acorn turn into a mighty oak portfolio, and likely well before the next decade begins.
\n
Fiverr
\n
The gig economy is here to stay, and Fiverr (NYSE:FVRR) has become a key driver of its acceptance as an alternative income generating channel. The freelancing platform has moved well beyond its early days when each gig was priced at just $5, and that has helped it grow into an important resource for creatives and those who need their services. The pandemic actually made it essential.
\n
Fiverr's technology platform connects freelancers with individuals and companies in need of their services. Instead of going through an agency, the buyer finds them on Fiverr through posted gigs, or packages with set prices for their work, including experience and how many jobs they may already have in the queue.
\n
Revenue surged 77% in 2020 to $189.5 million, and while the market has treated the stock as if no one will ever need to buy a gig again as the economy reopens (shares are down 2% year to date compared to a 19% gain for the S&P 500), management forecasts revenue will still rise 50% this year.
\n
Despite Fiverr's decline, shares remain expensive, trading at 27 times sales, or some nine times what the index trades at. Yet there are some good reasons to believe the freelance platform can readily grow into its valuation.
\n
Although the Israeli company estimates the total freelance market to be $750 billion annually and its addressable portion in the U.S. to be over $100 billion, Fiverr looks forward to expanding its business well beyond the English-speaking world, which currently represents around 70% of its revenue. International expansion will be a key focus for the future.
\n
Wall Street forecasts that Fiverr's adjusted earnings of $0.12 per share last year can grow to $1.57 per share by 2023, or a compounded growth rate of 135% annually. With share prices tending to follow earnings, the gig shop should see its stock follow suit and its current, seemingly overheated valuation looking like a very cool opportunity.
\n
Genuine Parts
\n
The computer chip shortage continues to plague the auto industry, and that's good news for Genuine Parts (NYSE:GPC), the owner of the NAPA Auto Parts chain of aftermarket auto parts stores. With auto sales forecast to fall 7% to 15.5 million vehicles this year because manufacturers can't get the chips needed to ship the cars to dealers, the market for used autos looks brighter and for aftermarket parts better still.
\n
For example, Ford has just 42 days of new inventory supply while Nissan has just 27, and Honda and Toyota both have just 17 days. With few cars available to buy, prices rising on those that are on dealer lots, and the crunch causing used car prices to soar, consumers are going to be looking to maintain their existing jalopies for a lot longer.
\n
You can see it playing out with Genuine Parts results with first half net sales up 17% from last year, but the effect is causing sales to accelerate as they were 25% higher in the second quarter. The long-term average return for the S&P 500 has been about 11% per year, and that's through depressions and recessions, war and civil unrest.\nThe one certainty seems to be that no matter how bad things get, things always get better and actually improve. The beauty of stock investing is that you don't actually need to have a lot of money to get started and turn a small grubstake into a retirement nest egg.\nYou could park $500 in the stock index for 25 years and not add another dollar and have it turn into $7,500 at those market averages. But the following two stocks should help your small investing acorn turn into a mighty oak portfolio, and likely well before the next decade begins.\nFiverr\nThe gig economy is here to stay, and Fiverr (NYSE:FVRR) has become a key driver of its acceptance as an alternative income generating channel. The freelancing platform has moved well beyond its early days when each gig was priced at just $5, and that has helped it grow into an important resource for creatives and those who need their services. The pandemic actually made it essential.\nFiverr's technology platform connects freelancers with individuals and companies in need of their services. Instead of going through an agency, the buyer finds them on Fiverr through posted gigs, or packages with set prices for their work, including experience and how many jobs they may already have in the queue.\nRevenue surged 77% in 2020 to $189.5 million, and while the market has treated the stock as if no one will ever need to buy a gig again as the economy reopens (shares are down 2% year to date compared to a 19% gain for the S&P 500), management forecasts revenue will still rise 50% this year.\nDespite Fiverr's decline, shares remain expensive, trading at 27 times sales, or some nine times what the index trades at. Yet there are some good reasons to believe the freelance platform can readily grow into its valuation.\nAlthough the Israeli company estimates the total freelance market to be $750 billion annually and its addressable portion in the U.S. to be over $100 billion, Fiverr looks forward to expanding its business well beyond the English-speaking world, which currently represents around 70% of its revenue. International expansion will be a key focus for the future.\nWall Street forecasts that Fiverr's adjusted earnings of $0.12 per share last year can grow to $1.57 per share by 2023, or a compounded growth rate of 135% annually. With share prices tending to follow earnings, the gig shop should see its stock follow suit and its current, seemingly overheated valuation looking like a very cool opportunity.\nGenuine Parts\nThe computer chip shortage continues to plague the auto industry, and that's good news for Genuine Parts (NYSE:GPC), the owner of the NAPA Auto Parts chain of aftermarket auto parts stores. With auto sales forecast to fall 7% to 15.5 million vehicles this year because manufacturers can't get the chips needed to ship the cars to dealers, the market for used autos looks brighter and for aftermarket parts better still.\nFor example, Ford has just 42 days of new inventory supply while Nissan has just 27, and Honda and Toyota both have just 17 days. With few cars available to buy, prices rising on those that are on dealer lots, and the crunch causing used car prices to soar, consumers are going to be looking to maintain their existing jalopies for a lot longer.\nYou can see it playing out with Genuine Parts results with first half net sales up 17% from last year, but the effect is causing sales to accelerate as they were 25% higher in the second quarter. They were also 12% higher than they were for the same quarter pre-pandemic.\nWall Street sees the auto parts dealer steadily growing sales at 5% a year for the next five years, which doesn't sound like it's setting the world on fire, but add in its dividend payment and investors have a sure and steady winner on their hands.\nGenuine Parts has paid dividends for nearly 100 years and has increased the payout annually for 65 straight years, making it a member of an elite group of stocks known as Dividend Kings. The dividend currently yields 2.6% annually, and with the retailer paying out less than 30% of its free cash flow in dividends, it's a secure line of income that investors can count on for years to come.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":272,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":823842780,"gmtCreate":1633614849362,"gmtModify":1633614899352,"author":{"id":"4087632630520920","authorId":"4087632630520920","name":"mintcookie","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/5a506061d4a1502e786b64e0a9a943f1","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Oh","listText":"Oh","text":"Oh","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/823842780","repostId":"1123346561","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":125,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":867255997,"gmtCreate":1633276821449,"gmtModify":1633276821449,"author":{"id":"4087632630520920","authorId":"4087632630520920","name":"mintcookie","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/5a506061d4a1502e786b64e0a9a943f1","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok","listText":"Ok","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/867255997","repostId":"2172647479","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2172647479","pubTimestamp":1633243084,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2172647479?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-10-03 14:38","market":"hk","language":"en","title":"Why Coinbase Global Stock Was Down 12.2% in September","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2172647479","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"The company is going head-to-head with financial regulators, and that is making investors nervous.","content":"
What happened
\n
Shares of Coinbase Global (NASDAQ:COIN) were down 12.2% in September, according to data from S&P Global Market Intelligence. This likely exacerbated Coinbase stock's decline.
\n
So what
\n
A stablecoin is a cryptocurrency that is backed by a reserve, typically a fiat currency like the U.S. dollar. This means that when you buy stablecoins, they will theoretically be able to be converted back to U.S. dollars at any point. Coinbase, as one of the largest crypto companies in the world, helped start a stablecoin called USD Coin (USDC) with a company called Circle. There are currently 31.2 billion USDC in circulation, meaning $31.2 billion (in U.S. dollars) has been exchanged for the stablecoin.
\n
What does this have to do with Coinbase stock and the SEC? Well, in order to make some money, Coinbase was planning to offer USDC owners the ability to lend their stablecoins to Coinbase, paying them a 4% annual interest rate (eight times the national average) if they join the lending program. Coinbase can make money doing this because other crypto traders (or really anyone interested in getting a loan) are willing to pay higher interest rates to get USDC loaned to them from Coinbase. When Coinbase came to the SEC to launch the lending program, the SEC gave the company a Wells notice, which means the regulator intends to sue Coinbase if it launches the product.
\n
With almost $5.5 billion in projected sales this year, Coinbase's business won't go away because of this SEC crackdown. The stock tends to be correlated with cryptocurrency prices, which fell during the month, and the company announced the Securities and Exchange Comission (SEC) was going to sue the company if it launched its new stablecoin lending program.\nOn top of this, the broad market indices took a tumble in September, with the S&P 500 index down around 5% in the period. This likely exacerbated Coinbase stock's decline.\nSo what\nA stablecoin is a cryptocurrency that is backed by a reserve, typically a fiat currency like the U.S. dollar. This means that when you buy stablecoins, they will theoretically be able to be converted back to U.S. dollars at any point. Coinbase, as one of the largest crypto companies in the world, helped start a stablecoin called USD Coin (USDC) with a company called Circle. There are currently 31.2 billion USDC in circulation, meaning $31.2 billion (in U.S. dollars) has been exchanged for the stablecoin.\nWhat does this have to do with Coinbase stock and the SEC? Well, in order to make some money, Coinbase was planning to offer USDC owners the ability to lend their stablecoins to Coinbase, paying them a 4% annual interest rate (eight times the national average) if they join the lending program. Coinbase can make money doing this because other crypto traders (or really anyone interested in getting a loan) are willing to pay higher interest rates to get USDC loaned to them from Coinbase. When Coinbase came to the SEC to launch the lending program, the SEC gave the company a Wells notice, which means the regulator intends to sue Coinbase if it launches the product.\nWith almost $5.5 billion in projected sales this year, Coinbase's business won't go away because of this SEC crackdown. However, it does indicate the government might get more aggressive cracking down on any new initiatives the company has, which could hurt its ability to grow over the next decade.\nIn other news, major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) fell last month. The coin started at around $50,000 at the beginning of December but finished the month closer to $40,000. Coinbase owns Bitcoin and makes money through cryptocurrency trades, so its stock tends to correlate with any major moves in the cryptocurrency market.\nNow what\nThis news from the SEC and Coinbase won't crush the company's current operations, but it is a concern that the SEC may crack down on the company's potential growth opportunities. If you are bullish on the crypto industry and think it is the future of finance, these regulatory risks are something to consider and could impact Coinbase's stock over the long term.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":140,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":864647763,"gmtCreate":1633100587363,"gmtModify":1633100587566,"author":{"id":"4087632630520920","authorId":"4087632630520920","name":"mintcookie","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/5a506061d4a1502e786b64e0a9a943f1","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Oh","listText":"Oh","text":"Oh","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/864647763","repostId":"1118501905","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1118501905","pubTimestamp":1633097579,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1118501905?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-10-01 22:12","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Merck's COVID pill a 'game-changer' - Scott Gottlieb","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1118501905","media":"seekingalpha","summary":"Merck's(NYSE:MRK)COVID treatment pill resultsare \"profoundly\" positive, says former FDA boss Scott G","content":"

\n
\n
Merck's(NYSE:MRK)COVID treatment pill resultsare \"profoundly\" positive, says former FDA boss Scott Gottlieb, appearing on CNBCfollowing the release of the test results.
\n
Gottlieb notes the trial was ended early as the great success the drug was showing meant it would be unethical to continue giving folks placebos.
The company also pays a dividend and is regularly repurchasing shares, supplementing shareholder value creation.\nFacebook and Tractor Supply together represent two solid ideas from very different industries that provide meaningful long-term growth potential for investors.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":396,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":849750061,"gmtCreate":1635778682722,"gmtModify":1635778682833,"author":{"id":"4087632630520920","authorId":"4087632630520920","name":"mintcookie","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/5a506061d4a1502e786b64e0a9a943f1","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Oh","listText":"Oh","text":"Oh","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/849750061","repostId":"1112898460","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1112898460","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1635776750,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1112898460?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-11-01 22:25","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Roblox shares fell more than 2% in Monday morning trading","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1112898460","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Roblox shares fell more than 2% in Monday morning trading.\n\nTo the dismay of millions of children — ","content":"
Roblox shares fell more than 2% in Monday morning trading.
\n

\n
To the dismay of millions of children — and the parents trying to keep them busy and cope with their anguish — the popular gaming platform Roblox crashed Friday, and the company was not able to restore service until late Sunday.
\n
“Roblox is back online everywhere!
They were also 12% higher than they were for the same quarter pre-pandemic.
\n
Wall Street sees the auto parts dealer steadily growing sales at 5% a year for the next five years, which doesn't sound like it's setting the world on fire, but add in its dividend payment and investors have a sure and steady winner on their hands.
\n
Genuine Parts has paid dividends for nearly 100 years and has increased the payout annually for 65 straight years, making it a member of an elite group of stocks known as Dividend Kings. The dividend currently yields 2.6% annually, and with the retailer paying out less than 30% of its free cash flow in dividends, it's a secure line of income that investors can count on for years to come.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
2 Stocks That Can Turn $500 Into $7,500 (Or More)
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n2 Stocks That Can Turn $500 Into $7,500 (Or More)\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-10-20 22:44 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
There are few better roads to building wealth over your lifetime than investing in the stock market. The dividend currently yields 2.6% annually, and with the retailer paying out less than 30% of its free cash flow in dividends, it's a secure line of income that investors can count on for years to come.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":272,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":823842780,"gmtCreate":1633614849362,"gmtModify":1633614899352,"author":{"id":"4087632630520920","authorId":"4087632630520920","name":"mintcookie","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/5a506061d4a1502e786b64e0a9a943f1","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Oh","listText":"Oh","text":"Oh","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/823842780","repostId":"1123346561","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1123346561","pubTimestamp":1633612422,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1123346561?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-10-07 21:13","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Lordstown Motors Is the Poster Child for Blank-Check Firms","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1123346561","media":"InvestorPlace","summary":"RIDE stock confirms the importance of due diligence.\n\nA few months ago, I expressed some concerns ab","content":"
\n RIDE stock confirms the importance of due diligence.\n
\n
A few months ago, I expressed some concerns about Lordstown Motors Corp. stock and suffice to say, it was not well received.
\n
Source: Postmodern Studio / Shutterstock.com
\n
I could understand why. The stock tends to be correlated with cryptocurrency prices, which fell during the month, and the company announced the Securities and Exchange Comission (SEC) was going to sue the company if it launched its new stablecoin lending program.
\n
On top of this, the broad market indices took a tumble in September, with the S&P 500 index down around 5% in the period.
However, it does indicate the government might get more aggressive cracking down on any new initiatives the company has, which could hurt its ability to grow over the next decade.
\n
In other news, major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) fell last month. The coin started at around $50,000 at the beginning of December but finished the month closer to $40,000. Coinbase owns Bitcoin and makes money through cryptocurrency trades, so its stock tends to correlate with any major moves in the cryptocurrency market.
\n
Now what
\n
This news from the SEC and Coinbase won't crush the company's current operations, but it is a concern that the SEC may crack down on the company's potential growth opportunities. If you are bullish on the crypto industry and think it is the future of finance, these regulatory risks are something to consider and could impact Coinbase's stock over the long term.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Why Coinbase Global Stock Was Down 12.2% in September
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nWhy Coinbase Global Stock Was Down 12.2% in September\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-10-03 14:38 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
What happened\nShares of Coinbase Global (NASDAQ:COIN) were down 12.2% in September, according to data from S&P Global Market Intelligence.
