Expect a blowout.
\n
For the June quarter, the tech giant has projected sales of $110 billion to $116 billion, with operating income in the $4.5 billion-to-$8 billion range. Wall Street consensus calls for sales of $115.4 billion, operating income of $7.8 billion, and earnings of $12.28 a share.
\n
There are several reasons why the Street numbers might be too low.
\n
For one, Amazon (ticker: AMZN) has beat expectations in every quarter since the start of the pandemic—in fact, for 10 quarters in a row.
\n
Another is that Amazon’s competitors have already reported solid numbers.Shopify(SHOP), arguably one of the company’s most important rivals in e-commerce,posted better-than-expected results for the June quarter, noting that sustained digital commerce trends and U.S. stimulus checks in March and April drove revenues above expectations. Strong reports from Alphabet,Snap and Twitter suggest Amazon will post accelerating growth in its underappreciated advertising business. And the strength in the cloud business at Microsoft bodes well for Amazon Web Services.
\n
Street estimates call for Amazon to post $57.3 billion in online sales, up 25%; $24.8 billion in third-party sellers services, up 36%; $14.3 billion from AWS, up 32%; $7.9 billion in subscription services, up 36%; $7 billion in “other” revenue, which is mostly advertising, up 66%; and $3.9 billion in physical stores revenue, up 3%.
\n
Plus, there are a couple of other factors at play. This will be the first quarter for Amazon since Jeff Bezos turned over the CEO reins to Andy Jassy. Bezos didn’t typically participate in the company’s quarterly earnings calls with analysts, leaving that job to CFO Brian OIsavky; it remains to be seen if Jassy will make an appearance this year. Also, Amazon finds itself at the heart of the debate—in Washington and elsewhere—over the power of tech companies, and now faces an in-depth investigation by the Federal Trade Commission over its proposed acquisition of the film studio MGM.Amazon has requested that FTC Chair Lina Khan recuse herself from any matters involving Amazon given her past criticisms of the company.
\n

\n
Investors also will be watching for clues on how the company expects the pandemic and a return to a more normal economy will impact results for the rest of the year. Street estimates for the September quarter call for revenue of $118.6 billion and profits of $12.97 a share.
\n
In a research note, MKM Partners analyst Rohit Kulkarni points out that Amazon has underperformed both Alphabet and Facebook shares this year. He thinks the stock has been weighed down by ongoing debate about the true strength of this year’s Prime Day sales event, as well as ongoing questions about the outlook for e-commerce as supplemental U.S. unemployment benefits lapse in September. Nonetheless, Kulkarni thinks that advertising, Amazon Prime subscriptions, and AWS will together drive upside to both second-quarter results and guidance, and he continues to consider Amazon his best pick among the big internet stocks. Kulkarni keeps his Buy rating and $4,075 target price.
\n
Evercore ISI analyst Mark Mahaney maintains an Outperform rating and $4,500 target price. Expect a blowout.\nFor the June quarter, the tech giant has projected sales of $110 billion to $116 billion, with operating income in the $4.5 billion-to-$8 billion range. Wall Street consensus calls for sales of $115.4 billion, operating income of $7.8 billion, and earnings of $12.28 a share.\nThere are several reasons why the Street numbers might be too low.\nFor one, Amazon (ticker: AMZN) has beat expectations in every quarter since the start of the pandemic—in fact, for 10 quarters in a row.\nAnother is that Amazon’s competitors have already reported solid numbers.Shopify(SHOP), arguably one of the company’s most important rivals in e-commerce,posted better-than-expected results for the June quarter, noting that sustained digital commerce trends and U.S. stimulus checks in March and April drove revenues above expectations. Strong reports from Alphabet,Snap and Twitter suggest Amazon will post accelerating growth in its underappreciated advertising business. And the strength in the cloud business at Microsoft bodes well for Amazon Web Services.\nStreet estimates call for Amazon to post $57.3 billion in online sales, up 25%; $24.8 billion in third-party sellers services, up 36%; $14.3 billion from AWS, up 32%; $7.9 billion in subscription services, up 36%; $7 billion in “other” revenue, which is mostly advertising, up 66%; and $3.9 billion in physical stores revenue, up 3%.\nPlus, there are a couple of other factors at play. Also, Amazon finds itself at the heart of the debate—in Washington and elsewhere—over the power of tech companies, and now faces an in-depth investigation by the Federal Trade Commission over its proposed acquisition of the film studio MGM.Amazon has requested that FTC Chair Lina Khan recuse herself from any matters involving Amazon given her past criticisms of the company.\n\nInvestors also will be watching for clues on how the company expects the pandemic and a return to a more normal economy will impact results for the rest of the year. Street estimates for the September quarter call for revenue of $118.6 billion and profits of $12.97 a share.\nIn a research note, MKM Partners analyst Rohit Kulkarni points out that Amazon has underperformed both Alphabet and Facebook shares this year. Kulkarni keeps his Buy rating and $4,075 target price.\nEvercore ISI analyst Mark Mahaney maintains an Outperform rating and $4,500 target price. He thinks Street estimates for the second quarter “look largely reasonable,” although he has some concerns that the Street might be too bullish on the third quarter, in particular given Prime Day this year shifted into the second quarter.\nMonness Crespi White analyst Brian White notes that Amazon shares have been “range bound” over the past few months, but he thinks the company is “uniquely positioned” to exit the pandemic as one of the biggest beneficiaries of the digital transformation trend. White asserts that “the company’s growth path is very attractive across the e-commerce segment, AWS, digital media, advertising, Alexa and more.” White maintains his Buy rating and $4,500 target price.\nOn Wednesday, Amazon shares were up 0.1%, to $3,630.32.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":349,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":808257407,"gmtCreate":1627598202509,"gmtModify":1633758032647,"author":{"id":"3586858801552030","authorId":"3586858801552030","name":"Jmonster","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d8087de32037e0cada3980a84e2ced42","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3586858801552030","authorIdStr":"3586858801552030"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good read","listText":"Good read","text":"Good read","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/808257407","repostId":"2155290035","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":511,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":800873798,"gmtCreate":1627294207714,"gmtModify":1633766441970,"author":{"id":"3586858801552030","authorId":"3586858801552030","name":"Jmonster","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d8087de32037e0cada3980a84e2ced42","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3586858801552030","authorIdStr":"3586858801552030"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Interesting choices","listText":"Interesting choices","text":"Interesting choices","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/800873798","repostId":"2154931205","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":388,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":174819342,"gmtCreate":1627090041686,"gmtModify":1633768111998,"author":{"id":"3586858801552030","authorId":"3586858801552030","name":"Jmonster","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d8087de32037e0cada3980a84e2ced42","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3586858801552030","authorIdStr":"3586858801552030"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"In the face of delta virus, Vaccine stock does provide some comfort in the \"crash\" resistance.","listText":"In the face of delta virus, Vaccine stock does provide some comfort in the \"crash\" resistance.","text":"In the face of delta virus, Vaccine stock does provide some comfort in the \"crash\" resistance.","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/174819342","repostId":"2153983997","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2153983997","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1627045860,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2153983997?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-07-23 21:11","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 Stocks to Buy Whether or Not a Market Crash Is Near","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2153983997","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Maybe the market is about to crash, and maybe it isn't. As we further added, high skew, which compares put option prices with at-the-money option prices, has reached new all-time high, and reflected investor perception that high volatility would return should markets sell off.
\n
Commenting on this unusual move, we said that it shows that while on one hand traders seem complacent, they have never been more nervous that even a modest wobble in the market could start a crash. By extension,\"they have also never been more protected against a full-blown market crash.\"
\n
So fast forward to the violent, if brief, air pocket (and hardly a full-blown crash) the market experienced late last week and on Monday, which saw stocks tumble the most in months... only to soar right after. In retrospect, traders have the record high skew to thank for that because while risk reversed sharply on Tuesday and continuing today, traders were fully hedged and ready to pounce.
\n
So following up on his observations from a month ago, when he first noted the record high skew, Goldman's derivatives strategist Rocky Fishman wrote that this week’s volatility pushed equity implied and realized volatility higher, with the VIX briefly hitting 25 during the day on Monday (19-Jul)...
\n
... even if in absolute terms vol is not high: three-week SPX realized vol (12.1%) is still below year-to-date realized vol (13.4%),and Tuesday’s rally brought the VIX back under 20. More importantly,in response to record downside skew correctly implying that a sell-off would bring much higher volatility, skew has now moved even higher - at least for the S&P 500.
\n
Some more observations from Fishman: \"although Tuesday’s large SPX move and drop in implied vol has reduced vol risk premium, the VIX remains high relative to recent realized vol.\"
\n
Furthermore, the SPX has not had one-month realized vol as high as the current VIX level (19.7) since November - indicating that options continue to be persistently expensive, which also means that traders are hedging to outsized moves both higher and lower and any selloffs are likely to be fleeting as hedges are cashed in.
\n

\n
That said, given the recent precedent for quick sell-offs to be followed quickly by low volatility, Goldman expects volatility to subside in the near term with more likelihood of a sustained increase in Q4, and a big reason for this is the persistently high index skew.
\n
\n SPX index skew continues to be at near-record levels, which we see as driven by a lack of downside sellers\n as much as demand for hedging. The strong reaction of the VIX to Monday’s sell-off, with the VIX up over six points at one point intraday,\n proved that high skew was justified - at least on a very local level....on a more persistent sell-off, it would be difficult to sustain the level of implied volatility that skew would indicate.\n
\n
Meanwhile, from a cross-asset standpoint, Fishman adds that if interest rates staying this low has the potential to be a catalyst for further equity upside (unless they plungetoofast), leaving the potential for near-term asymmetry in SPX potential returns that is the opposite of what option markets are implying.
\n
So how does one trade the persistently sticky record high skew? Goldman continues to like levered risk reversals as a way to take advantage of this dynamic: Sell a 17-Sep 3800-strike put (12.1% OTM) to fund 2x 4550-strike (5.2% OTM) calls for zero net premium. The trade would be subject to dollar-for-dollar losses shouldthe SPX close below the downside strike at expiration.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Behind The Market's Furious Reversal: Record High Skew
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nBehind The Market's Furious Reversal: Record High Skew\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-07-21 22:28 GMT+8 zerohedge\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
At the end of June, when the S&P was making new all time highs day after day, and when the VIX was touching fresh 2021 lows, we cautioned that the skew index just hit a new all time high - meaning ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"SPY":"标普500ETF",".SPX":"S&P 500 Index",".IXIC":"NASDAQ Composite",".DJI":"道琼斯"},"source_url":"https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/behind-markets-furious-reversal-record-high-skew?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+zerohedge%2Ffeed+%28zero+hedge+-+on+a+long+enough+timeline%2C+the+survival+rate+for+everyone+drops+to+zero%29","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1144363960","content_text":"At the end of June, when the S&P was making new all time highs day after day, and when the VIX was touching fresh 2021 lows, we cautioned that the skew index just hit a new all time high - meaning that put options have been unusually expensive relative to at-the-money options, helping support the put-heavy VIX index. In retrospect, traders have the record high skew to thank for that because while risk reversed sharply on Tuesday and continuing today, traders were fully hedged and ready to pounce.\nSo following up on his observations from a month ago, when he first noted the record high skew, Goldman's derivatives strategist Rocky Fishman wrote that this week’s volatility pushed equity implied and realized volatility higher, with the VIX briefly hitting 25 during the day on Monday (19-Jul)...\n... even if in absolute terms vol is not high: three-week SPX realized vol (12.1%) is still below year-to-date realized vol (13.4%),and Tuesday’s rally brought the VIX back under 20. More importantly,in response to record downside skew correctly implying that a sell-off would bring much higher volatility, skew has now moved even higher - at least for the S&P 500.\nSome more observations from Fishman: \"although Tuesday’s large SPX move and drop in implied vol has reduced vol risk premium, the VIX remains high relative to recent realized vol.\"\nFurthermore, the SPX has not had one-month realized vol as high as the current VIX level (19.7) since November - indicating that options continue to be persistently expensive, which also means that traders are hedging to outsized moves both higher and lower and any selloffs are likely to be fleeting as hedges are cashed in.\n\nThat said, given the recent precedent for quick sell-offs to be followed quickly by low volatility, Goldman expects volatility to subside in the near term with more likelihood of a sustained increase in Q4, and a big reason for this is the persistently high index skew.\n\n SPX index skew continues to be at near-record levels, which we see as driven by a lack of downside sellers\n as much as demand for hedging. The strong reaction of the VIX to Monday’s sell-off, with the VIX up over six points at one point intraday,\n proved that high skew was justified - at least on a very local level....on a more persistent sell-off, it would be difficult to sustain the level of implied volatility that skew would indicate.\n\nMeanwhile, from a cross-asset standpoint, Fishman adds that if interest rates staying this low has the potential to be a catalyst for further equity upside (unless they plungetoofast), leaving the potential for near-term asymmetry in SPX potential returns that is the opposite of what option markets are implying.\nSo how does one trade the persistently sticky record high skew? Goldman continues to like levered risk reversals as a way to take advantage of this dynamic: Sell a 17-Sep 3800-strike put (12.1% OTM) to fund 2x 4550-strike (5.2% OTM) calls for zero net premium. The trade would be subject to dollar-for-dollar losses shouldthe SPX close below the downside strike at expiration.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":296,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":176586022,"gmtCreate":1626907773666,"gmtModify":1631884320828,"author":{"id":"3586858801552030","authorId":"3586858801552030","name":"Jmonster","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d8087de32037e0cada3980a84e2ced42","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3586858801552030","authorIdStr":"3586858801552030"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Hope travel stays up...","listText":"Hope travel stays up...","text":"Hope travel stays up...","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/176586022","repostId":"1156292040","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1156292040","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1626880084,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1156292040?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-07-21 23:08","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Airline stocks, Cruise Stocks rally continues in morning trading","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1156292040","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"(July 21) Airline stocks, Cruise Stocks rally continues in morning trading.\nShares of Carnival rose","content":"
(July 21) Airline stocks, Cruise Stocks rally continues in morning trading.
\n
Shares of Carnival rose over 3% in premarket trading, after the company said it plans to resume guest cruise operations across eight of its cruise line brands by the end of 2021. All this creates a risk that as things get back to normal, the market overall could be due for a correction. Some of the money that has been flowing into it could be cashed out and put back into bonds as interest rates rise, or used for other purposes as spending resumes and people choose to hold less in stocks.
\n
If I owned Moderna, Inc. , fuboTV Inc., or Pinterest, Inc., I'd be considering selling them right now. But with inflated valuations and the possibility of a crash looming, they become riskier as each day passes by.
\n

\n
\n
1. Moderna
\n
Moderna has soared by 250% in 12 months, and for good reason -- its COVID-19 vaccine obtained emergency use authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) last year. The company expects to generate more than $18 billion in revenue from the vaccine in 2021, and its bottom line will finally be in the black -- in 2020 its losses totaled $747 million, triple what it lost in 2017.
\n
Things are certainly looking up for Moderna, especially with rival Pfizer looking to get the OK from the FDA for a third dose of its vaccine to help fight the delta variant. If Pfizer is successful, it's likely Moderna would follow suit, which could bring in even more revenue for the company. But there's no certainty that will happen. And more vaccines could be coming to market soon, including one from Novavax, which plans to apply for authorization from the FDA during the third quarter.
\n
As countries have more options for vaccines, that will inevitably bring down the revenue and potential market share for Moderna. And beyond that, there are questions about what the future holds for Moderna after COVID-19. While its mRNA technology has proven to be effective, that doesn't guarantee that other vaccines in its pipeline will succeed. Its vaccine for cytomegalovirus, currently the furthest along, is entering phase 3 trials. With a peak annual revenue potential of between $2 billion and $5 billion, however, the company won't be able to solely rely on it in replacing COVID-19-related revenue.
\n
Moderna's future is a question mark for me, and while its forward price-to-earnings ratio of 11 looks cheap, that could change drastically post-COVID. Even on a forward basis, the stock is trading at more than 6 times revenue -- Pfizer is at just 3. Although Moderna is doing well right now, its stock is expensive and could be due for a correction soon.
\n
2. fuboTV
\n
Streaming and entertainment company fuboTV isn't profitable, nor does profitability look to be in its sights. But that hasn't stopped investors from jumping on its bandwagon, driving shares up by more than 160% in 12 months. Its subscriber base as of March 31 topped 590,000 people -- a year-over-year increase of 105%. And the company may continue attracting more subscribers thanks to plans to launch a sportsbook before the end of the year.
\n
However, while the company is growing fast, my concern is that its approach may be too aggressive in pursuing revenue. In its most recent quarterly results, for the period ending March 31, revenue of $120 million was nowhere near enough to cover its $185 million in operating expenses. Of particular concern is that fuboTV has incurred subscriber-related expenses of $113 million -- more than the $107 million it brought in from subscription-related revenue.
\n
Without good margins to support the company's growth, the problem for investors is that fuboTV's financials may not get stronger as it expands, which could lead to an inevitable need to raise cash -- diluting existing shareholders. fuboTV currently trades at a multiple of 6 times its revenue, and although that's cheaper than Netflix's multiple of more than 9, the streaming giant is at least profitable. In a crash, investors look for safety, and without a strong bottom line, fuboTV's stock could fall quickly.
\n
3. Pinterest
\n
Pinterest's stock has benefited from people staying at home during the pandemic and using its discovery engine to explore hobbies and interests. As of the end of March, the company had 478 million monthly active users (MAUs), an increase of 30% year over year. That tops last year's results, in which MAUs of 367 million grew by 26%. The company does expect to see a slowdown next quarter, however, with its MAU growth rate likely to be in the \"mid-teens.\"
\n
Even with the rising user base and a 78% year-over-year increase in sales this past quarter to $485 million, the company still posted a net loss of $22 million. Although that was a fraction of the $141 million loss it incurred a year earlier, with the economy opening back up and people going back to their regular habits, there may be less time to spend on Pinterest -- and a decline in MAUs. If that happens, the progress the company has been making on its bottom line could be stalled.
\n
Pinterest has been a hot stay-at-home stock, but now could become a risky buy given its hefty valuation; currently, the growth stock trades at more than 22 times its revenue -- the average holding in the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund trades at a multiple of less than 7.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 Expensive Stocks I'd Sell Before the Next Market Crash
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 Expensive Stocks I'd Sell Before the Next Market Crash\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-07-20 22:16 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
The stock market has been soaring to new heights in recent weeks and months, even though the coronavirus persists in some places, the economy hasn't fully recovered, and stimulus payments are still ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"PINS":"Pinterest, Inc.","MRNA":"Moderna, Inc.","FUBO":"fuboTV Inc."},"source_url":"https://www.fool.com/investing/2021/07/20/3-expensive-stocks-id-sell-before-the-next-market/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"2152693458","content_text":"The stock market has been soaring to new heights in recent weeks and months, even though the coronavirus persists in some places, the economy hasn't fully recovered, and stimulus payments are still propping things up. Moderna\nModerna has soared by 250% in 12 months, and for good reason -- its COVID-19 vaccine obtained emergency use authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) last year. The company expects to generate more than $18 billion in revenue from the vaccine in 2021, and its bottom line will finally be in the black -- in 2020 its losses totaled $747 million, triple what it lost in 2017.\nThings are certainly looking up for Moderna, especially with rival Pfizer looking to get the OK from the FDA for a third dose of its vaccine to help fight the delta variant. If Pfizer is successful, it's likely Moderna would follow suit, which could bring in even more revenue for the company. But there's no certainty that will happen. And more vaccines could be coming to market soon, including one from Novavax, which plans to apply for authorization from the FDA during the third quarter.\nAs countries have more options for vaccines, that will inevitably bring down the revenue and potential market share for Moderna. With a peak annual revenue potential of between $2 billion and $5 billion, however, the company won't be able to solely rely on it in replacing COVID-19-related revenue.\nModerna's future is a question mark for me, and while its forward price-to-earnings ratio of 11 looks cheap, that could change drastically post-COVID. Even on a forward basis, the stock is trading at more than 6 times revenue -- Pfizer is at just 3. Although Moderna is doing well right now, its stock is expensive and could be due for a correction soon.\n2. fuboTV\nStreaming and entertainment company fuboTV isn't profitable, nor does profitability look to be in its sights. But that hasn't stopped investors from jumping on its bandwagon, driving shares up by more than 160% in 12 months. Its subscriber base as of March 31 topped 590,000 people -- a year-over-year increase of 105%. And the company may continue attracting more subscribers thanks to plans to launch a sportsbook before the end of the year.\nHowever, while the company is growing fast, my concern is that its approach may be too aggressive in pursuing revenue. In its most recent quarterly results, for the period ending March 31, revenue of $120 million was nowhere near enough to cover its $185 million in operating expenses. Of particular concern is that fuboTV has incurred subscriber-related expenses of $113 million -- more than the $107 million it brought in from subscription-related revenue.\nWithout good margins to support the company's growth, the problem for investors is that fuboTV's financials may not get stronger as it expands, which could lead to an inevitable need to raise cash -- diluting existing shareholders. fuboTV currently trades at a multiple of 6 times its revenue, and although that's cheaper than Netflix's multiple of more than 9, the streaming giant is at least profitable. In a crash, investors look for safety, and without a strong bottom line, fuboTV's stock could fall quickly.\n3. Pinterest\nPinterest's stock has benefited from people staying at home during the pandemic and using its discovery engine to explore hobbies and interests. As of the end of March, the company had 478 million monthly active users (MAUs), an increase of 30% year over year. That tops last year's results, in which MAUs of 367 million grew by 26%. The company does expect to see a slowdown next quarter, however, with its MAU growth rate likely to be in the \"mid-teens.\"\nEven with the rising user base and a 78% year-over-year increase in sales this past quarter to $485 million, the company still posted a net loss of $22 million. Although that was a fraction of the $141 million loss it incurred a year earlier, with the economy opening back up and people going back to their regular habits, there may be less time to spend on Pinterest -- and a decline in MAUs. If that happens, the progress the company has been making on its bottom line could be stalled.\nPinterest has been a hot stay-at-home stock, but now could become a risky buy given its hefty valuation; currently, the growth stock trades at more than 22 times its revenue -- the average holding in the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund trades at a multiple of less than 7.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":494,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":808257407,"gmtCreate":1627598202509,"gmtModify":1633758032647,"author":{"id":"3586858801552030","authorId":"3586858801552030","name":"Jmonster","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d8087de32037e0cada3980a84e2ced42","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3586858801552030","authorIdStr":"3586858801552030"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good read","listText":"Good read","text":"Good read","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/808257407","repostId":"2155290035","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2155290035","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1627564527,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2155290035?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-07-29 21:15","market":"us","language":"en","title":"4 Stock Market Myths to Abandon if You Actually Want to Make Money","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2155290035","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"It might be worth revisiting some of the \"common knowledge\" assumptions about how things really work.","content":"
Has the stock market not behaved quite as you expected?
As we further added, high skew, which compares put option prices with at-the-money option prices, has reached new all-time high, and reflected investor perception that high volatility would return should markets sell off.\nCommenting on this unusual move, we said that it shows that while on one hand traders seem complacent, they have never been more nervous that even a modest wobble in the market could start a crash. By extension,\"they have also never been more protected against a full-blown market crash.\"\nSo fast forward to the violent, if brief, air pocket (and hardly a full-blown crash) the market experienced late last week and on Monday, which saw stocks tumble the most in months... only to soar right after. Traditional real estate companies charge up to a 3% commission/listing fee when a home is bought or sold. Depending on how much previous business was completed with the company, Redfin only charges a fee ranging from 1% to 1.5%. A difference of 1.5% to 2% might not sound like much, but it's quite impactful with home prices soaring. According to Realtor.com, the median home price for active listings in June 2021 was $385,000, meaning Redfin could save the median seller up to $7,700 in costs.
\n
But it's not just a more cost-efficient operation that's driving buyers and sellers to Redfin. Over time, however, the percentage of medium-and-large-sized businesses utilizing the platform has grown. As of the end of March, 61% of GPV came from businesses with $125,000 or more in annualized GPV, up from 52% in Q1 2019. In simple terms, this means existing clients spent 47%, 43%, and 39% more than they did in each respective year-ago quarter. We've also seen total customer count, enterprise customer count, and average enterprise customer spend, climb on a quarterly basis.
\n
What's perhaps most impressive about Fastly has been the company's ability to overcome ByteDance (the parent of TikTok) pulling traffic from its network in Q3 2020 due to a stateside spat with the Trump administration.
All this creates a risk that as things get back to normal, the market overall could be due for a correction. Some of the money that has been flowing into it could be cashed out and put back into bonds as interest rates rise, or used for other purposes as spending resumes and people choose to hold less in stocks.\nIf I owned Moderna, Inc. , fuboTV Inc., or Pinterest, Inc., I'd be considering selling them right now.
