Expect a blowout.
\n
For the June quarter, the tech giant has projected sales of $110 billion to $116 billion, with operating income in the $4.5 billion-to-$8 billion range. Wall Street consensus calls for sales of $115.4 billion, operating income of $7.8 billion, and earnings of $12.28 a share.
\n
There are several reasons why the Street numbers might be too low.
\n
For one, Amazon (ticker: AMZN) has beat expectations in every quarter since the start of the pandemic—in fact, for 10 quarters in a row.
\n
Another is that Amazon’s competitors have already reported solid numbers.Shopify(SHOP), arguably one of the company’s most important rivals in e-commerce,posted better-than-expected results for the June quarter, noting that sustained digital commerce trends and U.S. stimulus checks in March and April drove revenues above expectations. Strong reports from Alphabet,Snap and Twitter suggest Amazon will post accelerating growth in its underappreciated advertising business. And the strength in the cloud business at Microsoft bodes well for Amazon Web Services.
\n
Street estimates call for Amazon to post $57.3 billion in online sales, up 25%; $24.8 billion in third-party sellers services, up 36%; $14.3 billion from AWS, up 32%; $7.9 billion in subscription services, up 36%; $7 billion in “other” revenue, which is mostly advertising, up 66%; and $3.9 billion in physical stores revenue, up 3%.
\n
Plus, there are a couple of other factors at play. This will be the first quarter for Amazon since Jeff Bezos turned over the CEO reins to Andy Jassy. Bezos didn’t typically participate in the company’s quarterly earnings calls with analysts, leaving that job to CFO Brian OIsavky; it remains to be seen if Jassy will make an appearance this year. Also, Amazon finds itself at the heart of the debate—in Washington and elsewhere—over the power of tech companies, and now faces an in-depth investigation by the Federal Trade Commission over its proposed acquisition of the film studio MGM.Amazon has requested that FTC Chair Lina Khan recuse herself from any matters involving Amazon given her past criticisms of the company.
\n

\n
Investors also will be watching for clues on how the company expects the pandemic and a return to a more normal economy will impact results for the rest of the year. Street estimates for the September quarter call for revenue of $118.6 billion and profits of $12.97 a share.
\n
In a research note, MKM Partners analyst Rohit Kulkarni points out that Amazon has underperformed both Alphabet and Facebook shares this year. He thinks the stock has been weighed down by ongoing debate about the true strength of this year’s Prime Day sales event, as well as ongoing questions about the outlook for e-commerce as supplemental U.S. unemployment benefits lapse in September. Nonetheless, Kulkarni thinks that advertising, Amazon Prime subscriptions, and AWS will together drive upside to both second-quarter results and guidance, and he continues to consider Amazon his best pick among the big internet stocks. Kulkarni keeps his Buy rating and $4,075 target price.
\n
Evercore ISI analyst Mark Mahaney maintains an Outperform rating and $4,500 target price. Expect a blowout.\nFor the June quarter, the tech giant has projected sales of $110 billion to $116 billion, with operating income in the $4.5 billion-to-$8 billion range. Wall Street consensus calls for sales of $115.4 billion, operating income of $7.8 billion, and earnings of $12.28 a share.\nThere are several reasons why the Street numbers might be too low.\nFor one, Amazon (ticker: AMZN) has beat expectations in every quarter since the start of the pandemic—in fact, for 10 quarters in a row.\nAnother is that Amazon’s competitors have already reported solid numbers.Shopify(SHOP), arguably one of the company’s most important rivals in e-commerce,posted better-than-expected results for the June quarter, noting that sustained digital commerce trends and U.S. stimulus checks in March and April drove revenues above expectations. Strong reports from Alphabet,Snap and Twitter suggest Amazon will post accelerating growth in its underappreciated advertising business. And the strength in the cloud business at Microsoft bodes well for Amazon Web Services.\nStreet estimates call for Amazon to post $57.3 billion in online sales, up 25%; $24.8 billion in third-party sellers services, up 36%; $14.3 billion from AWS, up 32%; $7.9 billion in subscription services, up 36%; $7 billion in “other” revenue, which is mostly advertising, up 66%; and $3.9 billion in physical stores revenue, up 3%.\nPlus, there are a couple of other factors at play. Also, Amazon finds itself at the heart of the debate—in Washington and elsewhere—over the power of tech companies, and now faces an in-depth investigation by the Federal Trade Commission over its proposed acquisition of the film studio MGM.Amazon has requested that FTC Chair Lina Khan recuse herself from any matters involving Amazon given her past criticisms of the company.\n\nInvestors also will be watching for clues on how the company expects the pandemic and a return to a more normal economy will impact results for the rest of the year. Street estimates for the September quarter call for revenue of $118.6 billion and profits of $12.97 a share.\nIn a research note, MKM Partners analyst Rohit Kulkarni points out that Amazon has underperformed both Alphabet and Facebook shares this year. Kulkarni keeps his Buy rating and $4,075 target price.\nEvercore ISI analyst Mark Mahaney maintains an Outperform rating and $4,500 target price. He thinks Street estimates for the second quarter “look largely reasonable,” although he has some concerns that the Street might be too bullish on the third quarter, in particular given Prime Day this year shifted into the second quarter.\nMonness Crespi White analyst Brian White notes that Amazon shares have been “range bound” over the past few months, but he thinks the company is “uniquely positioned” to exit the pandemic as one of the biggest beneficiaries of the digital transformation trend. White asserts that “the company’s growth path is very attractive across the e-commerce segment, AWS, digital media, advertising, Alexa and more.” White maintains his Buy rating and $4,500 target price.\nOn Wednesday, Amazon shares were up 0.1%, to $3,630.32.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":280,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":808257407,"gmtCreate":1627598202509,"gmtModify":1633758032647,"author":{"id":"3586858801552030","authorId":"3586858801552030","name":"Jmonster","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d8087de32037e0cada3980a84e2ced42","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3586858801552030","idStr":"3586858801552030"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good read","listText":"Good read","text":"Good read","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/808257407","repostId":"2155290035","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2155290035","pubTimestamp":1627564527,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2155290035?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-07-29 21:15","market":"us","language":"en","title":"4 Stock Market Myths to Abandon if You Actually Want to Make Money","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2155290035","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"It might be worth revisiting some of the \"common knowledge\" assumptions about how things really work.","content":"
Has the stock market not behaved quite as you expected? But an increasing number of companies, investment banks, and insiders have proven this tenet to be false. Big stock price gains often come before a company's business model reaches its full potential, and that can raise risk levels without providing any additional reward.
\n
A name like GoPro (NASDAQ:GPRO) comes to mind. While no one denies it makes the world's very best action cameras, its stock price got ahead of itself in the early to mid-2010s. Money managers and brokerage firms' so-called wrap account will charge you on the order of 1% of your portfolio's value per year. Robo-advisors charge about half of that (or less) for smaller accounts, though there's very little personal customer service to such plans. Both solutions steer your investments, and for the most part, they do a pretty good job of balancing risk and reward.
\n
But with a little common sense and self-discipline, you can sidestep those fees and manage your own stock portfolio at little or no cost. Aside from learning by starting out conservatively and becoming more aggressive as you gain experience, you might be surprised to find you're doing better than most professionals do for their customers. In its most recent assessment of the industry, Standard & Poor's found that only about one-fourth of large cap mutual funds outperformed the S&P 500 over the course of the past five years. The other three-fourths trailed the S&P 500's performance.
\n
Myth 4: When I buy a stock, that money is given to the underlying company to grow its business
\n
Finally, although most veteran investors (and even newcomers) understand that an investment in a company isn't the transfer of funds from your account to that organization's coffers where it's then spent on growth initiatives. Rather, when you buy a stock -- say Procter & Gamble -- you're buying those shares of P&G from another investor who's more than willing to let go of their stake of the consumer staples giant at the agreed-upon market price. What do they know that you don't? Maybe nothing. Perhaps they're just ready to reduce their risk or take on more risk.
\n
There's a more important takeaway, however. If you buy stakes in game-changing businesses, you have the opportunity to take a large sum of money and turn it into a life-altering amount of cash. Traditional real estate companies charge up to a 3% commission/listing fee when a home is bought or sold. Depending on how much previous business was completed with the company, Redfin only charges a fee ranging from 1% to 1.5%. A difference of 1.5% to 2% might not sound like much, but it's quite impactful with home prices soaring. It's the company's adaptation to a changing real estate landscape and the unparalleled personalization it provides. These stocks look like good picks either way.","content":"
Rising COVID-19 cases. Concerns about the highly contagious delta variant. The possibility of another housing bubble bursting. These are some of the reasons why worries are increasing among investors that a stock market crash could be on the way.
\n
One of the biggest stock market bears, Harry Dent Jr., who predicted the dot.com bubble collapsing, even thinks that a market meltdown is likely within the next three months. Is all of the pessimism warranted? Maybe, maybe not.
\n
If you're leery about what's around the corner, here are three stocks to buy if a market crash is coming soon. And the great news about these stocks is that they're solid picks even if it doesn't happen.
\n

\n
\n
BioNTech
\n
I personally don't think a stock market crash is just around the corner. If one is, though, I suspect the cause will be the combination of the COVID-19 pandemic and sky-high market valuations. Assuming I'm right, BioNTech (NASDAQ:BNTX) should soar if the market crashes.
\n
A massive market sell-off due to COVID-19 worries would almost certainly light a fire beneath the stocks of the leading vaccine makers. My view is that BioNTech would be one of the biggest winners in the group.
\n
BioNTech and its partner Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) are already moving forward with plans to test a vaccine that specifically targets the delta variant. That gives the companies a head start. BioNTech is by far the smallest of the companies with COVID-19 vaccines already on the market, which makes its shares more likely to jump higher on a positive catalyst. It's also easily the cheapest of these vaccine stocks, based on forward earnings multiples.
\n
What if there isn't an imminent market crash? BioNTech is still set to rake in billions of dollars with sales of its COVID-19 vaccine. The company will almost certainly use its growing cash stockpile to invest in expanding its pipeline. I think that BioNTech will be a winner over the long term, regardless of what happens over the short term.
\n
Dollar General
\n
I've maintained for a long time that Dollar General (NYSE:DG) is one of the best stocks to own during a market downturn. That view seemed to be confirmed during the big market meltdown last year.
\n

\n
DG data by YCharts.
\n
Shares of Dollar General fell at first, but not nearly as much as most stocks did. Dollar General stock also rebounded much more quickly and trounced the overall market's return throughout the rest of the year.
\n
During uncertain times, consumers tighten their purse strings. That makes discount retailers such as Dollar General more attractive than ever.
\n
Even when the overall market performs well, though, Dollar General should still be able to grow. As a case in point, the company's shares delivered more than double the gain that the S&P 500 index did in the five years leading up to 2020 when the market was roaring.
\n
I think that Dollar General will be able to continue to beat the market. It's moving forward with an aggressive expansion strategy. The company is also undertaking a major initiative to \"establish itself as a health destination.\" While Dollar General didn't provide many details on exactly what its plans are, moving more into healthcare sounds like a smart move to me.
\n
Viatris
\n
There are at least two reasons why a given stock might hold up well during a big market sell-off. One is that its underlying business isn't impacted much by the reason behind the broader plunge. Another is that the stock is so cheap that investors scoop up shares if it falls much below its existing price. My take is that Viatris (NASDAQ:VTRS) qualifies on both of these criteria.
\n
Viatris specializes in biosimilars and generic drugs. Patients need these drugs, regardless of what the stock market does. The drugs are also less expensive than branded prescription drugs.
\n
The stock is irrefutably dirt cheap. Viatris' shares trade at a little over four times expected earnings. Concerns about the highly contagious delta variant. The possibility of another housing bubble bursting. These are some of the reasons why worries are increasing among investors that a stock market crash could be on the way.\nOne of the biggest stock market bears, Harry Dent Jr., who predicted the dot.com bubble collapsing, even thinks that a market meltdown is likely within the next three months. Is all of the pessimism warranted? Maybe, maybe not.\nIf you're leery about what's around the corner, here are three stocks to buy if a market crash is coming soon. And the great news about these stocks is that they're solid picks even if it doesn't happen.\n\nImage source: Getty Images.\nBioNTech\nI personally don't think a stock market crash is just around the corner. If one is, though, I suspect the cause will be the combination of the COVID-19 pandemic and sky-high market valuations. Assuming I'm right, BioNTech (NASDAQ:BNTX) should soar if the market crashes.\nA massive market sell-off due to COVID-19 worries would almost certainly light a fire beneath the stocks of the leading vaccine makers. My view is that BioNTech would be one of the biggest winners in the group.\nBioNTech and its partner Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) are already moving forward with plans to test a vaccine that specifically targets the delta variant. That gives the companies a head start. BioNTech is by far the smallest of the companies with COVID-19 vaccines already on the market, which makes its shares more likely to jump higher on a positive catalyst. It's also easily the cheapest of these vaccine stocks, based on forward earnings multiples.\nWhat if there isn't an imminent market crash? BioNTech is still set to rake in billions of dollars with sales of its COVID-19 vaccine. The company will almost certainly use its growing cash stockpile to invest in expanding its pipeline. I think that BioNTech will be a winner over the long term, regardless of what happens over the short term.\nDollar General\nI've maintained for a long time that Dollar General (NYSE:DG) is one of the best stocks to own during a market downturn. That view seemed to be confirmed during the big market meltdown last year.\n\nDG data by YCharts.\nShares of Dollar General fell at first, but not nearly as much as most stocks did. Dollar General stock also rebounded much more quickly and trounced the overall market's return throughout the rest of the year.\nDuring uncertain times, consumers tighten their purse strings. That makes discount retailers such as Dollar General more attractive than ever.\nEven when the overall market performs well, though, Dollar General should still be able to grow. As a case in point, the company's shares delivered more than double the gain that the S&P 500 index did in the five years leading up to 2020 when the market was roaring.\nI think that Dollar General will be able to continue to beat the market. It's moving forward with an aggressive expansion strategy. The company is also undertaking a major initiative to \"establish itself as a health destination.\" While Dollar General didn't provide many details on exactly what its plans are, moving more into healthcare sounds like a smart move to me.\nViatris\nThere are at least two reasons why a given stock might hold up well during a big market sell-off. One is that its underlying business isn't impacted much by the reason behind the broader plunge. Another is that the stock is so cheap that investors scoop up shares if it falls much below its existing price. My take is that Viatris (NASDAQ:VTRS) qualifies on both of these criteria.\nViatris specializes in biosimilars and generic drugs. Patients need these drugs, regardless of what the stock market does. The drugs are also less expensive than branded prescription drugs.\nThe stock is irrefutably dirt cheap. Viatris' shares trade at a little over four times expected earnings. It's unlikely that the stock is going to move much lower because it would simply be too much of a steal for investors to ignore.\nGranted, Viatris probably won't keep up with the overall stock market's performance if the current uptrend continues. However, the company's dividend is attractive. And over the next several years, Viatris should achieve synergies resulting from the merger of Pfizer's Upjohn unit and Mylan, as well as launch new products that should drive growth.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":336,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":175092034,"gmtCreate":1626997819228,"gmtModify":1633769018546,"author":{"id":"3586858801552030","authorId":"3586858801552030","name":"Jmonster","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d8087de32037e0cada3980a84e2ced42","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3586858801552030","idStr":"3586858801552030"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Can never be wrong with tech","listText":"Can never be wrong with tech","text":"Can never be wrong with tech","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/175092034","repostId":"1164478982","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1164478982","pubTimestamp":1626995319,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1164478982?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-07-23 07:08","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Wall Street ekes out gains, led by tech, growth stocks","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1164478982","media":"Reuters","summary":"NEW YORK - Big tech helped Wall Street inch up to a higher close on Thursday, modestly building on a two-day rally as lackluster economic data and mixed corporate earnings prompted a pivot back to growth stocks.A pull-back in economically sensitive cyclicals kept the S&P 500’s and the blue-chip Dow’s gains muted, while small-caps underperformed their larger rivals.“The market is flip-flopping between the view that economic growth has almost peaked so you need to buy stocks that manufacture thei","content":"
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Big tech helped Wall Street inch up to a higher close on Thursday, modestly building on a two-day rally as lackluster economic data and mixed corporate earnings prompted a pivot back to growth stocks.
\n
A pull-back in economically sensitive cyclicals kept the S&P 500’s and the blue-chip Dow’s gains muted, while small-caps underperformed their larger rivals.
\n
But megacap tech and tech-adjacent stocks, such as Microsoft Corp, Amazon.com, Apple Inc, Facebook Inc and Alphabet Inc, rose ahead of their quarterly results next week, putting the Nasdaq out front.
\n
All three major U.S. stock indexes ended the session within 1% of their record closing highs.
\n
Growth stocks, which outperformed throughout the health crisis, were back in favor, gaining 0.8%, while the value index slipped by 0.5%.
\n
“The market is flip-flopping between the view that economic growth has almost peaked so you need to buy stocks that manufacture their own growth like tech names, versus the view that economic growth will continue and you want to own cyclicals and value names,” said David Carter, chief investment officer at Lenox Wealth Advisors in New York.
\n
The number of U.S. workers filing first-time applications for unemployment benefits spiked unexpectedly to 419,000 last week, a two-month high, according to the Labor Department.
\n
Market participants are closely watching labor market indicators for hints as to when the Federal Reserve, expected to convene next week for its two-day monetary policy meeting, will begin discussions about hiking key interest rates from near zero.
\n
“The jobless data today didn’t have a meaningful impact on markets or the economic outlook,” Carter added. “It’s now all about how much longer the Fed will tolerate low rates. Carnival announced in early July that a 40-night winter sun Caribbean cruise on P&O Cruises sold out in the first day.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":368,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":178514598,"gmtCreate":1626827366114,"gmtModify":1633770674516,"author":{"id":"3586858801552030","authorId":"3586858801552030","name":"Jmonster","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d8087de32037e0cada3980a84e2ced42","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3586858801552030","idStr":"3586858801552030"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Watch and see","listText":"Watch and see","text":"Watch and see","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/178514598","repostId":"2152693458","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":367,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":808257407,"gmtCreate":1627598202509,"gmtModify":1633758032647,"author":{"id":"3586858801552030","authorId":"3586858801552030","name":"Jmonster","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d8087de32037e0cada3980a84e2ced42","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3586858801552030","authorIdStr":"3586858801552030"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good read","listText":"Good read","text":"Good read","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/808257407","repostId":"2155290035","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":460,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":806425799,"gmtCreate":1627690247811,"gmtModify":1631885102441,"author":{"id":"3586858801552030","authorId":"3586858801552030","name":"Jmonster","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d8087de32037e0cada3980a84e2ced42","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3586858801552030","authorIdStr":"3586858801552030"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Time to buy-the-dip!","listText":"Time to buy-the-dip!","text":"Time to buy-the-dip!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/806425799","repostId":"1137888611","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1137888611","pubTimestamp":1627688479,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1137888611?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-07-31 07:41","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Nio, XPeng, Li Shares Rise, as China EV Stocks Rebound","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1137888611","media":"The Street","summary":"NIO, Li Auto and Xpeng continued the recovery from their July 21-27 drop Friday, even as other U.S.-","content":"
\n NIO, Li Auto and Xpeng continued the recovery from their July 21-27 drop Friday, even as other U.S.-listed China stocks fell.\n
\n
Chinese electric vehicle stocks, including NIO (NIO) , Li Auto (LI) and Xpeng (XPEV) , continued the rebound from their July 21-27 drop Friday, even as other U.S.-listed China stocks fell.
\n
Nio gained 4% to $44.50, Li 11% to $33.97 and Xpeng 9% to $41.38.

He thinks Street estimates for the second quarter “look largely reasonable,” although he has some concerns that the Street might be too bullish on the third quarter, in particular given Prime Day this year shifted into the second quarter.
\n
Monness Crespi White analyst Brian White notes that Amazon shares have been “range bound” over the past few months, but he thinks the company is “uniquely positioned” to exit the pandemic as one of the biggest beneficiaries of the digital transformation trend. White asserts that “the company’s growth path is very attractive across the e-commerce segment, AWS, digital media, advertising, Alexa and more.” White maintains his Buy rating and $4,500 target price.
\n
On Wednesday, Amazon shares were up 0.1%, to $3,630.32.
","source":"lsy1601382232898","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Amazon Reports Earnings Thursday. The Fed seems to be favoring its full employment mandate more than its price stability mandate.”\n“Accordingly, the upcoming Fed meeting could be impactful,” Carter said.\nBenchmark Treasury yields eased after the bid at the largest-ever TIPS auction touched a record low, pressuring rate sensitive banks.\nThe Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 25.35 points, or 0.07%, to 34,823.35, the S&P 500 gained 8.79 points, or 0.20%, to 4,367.48 and the Nasdaq Composite added 52.64 points, or 0.36%, to 14,684.60.\nOf the 11 major sectors of the S&P 500, tech was shining brightest, gaining 0.7%. Energy stocks suffered the largest percentage drop.\nThe second-quarter reporting season barreled ahead at full-throttle, with 104 of the companies in the S&P 500 having reported. Of those, 88% have beaten consensus estimates, according to Refinitiv.\nDrugmaker Biogen Inc gained 1.1% after hiking its full-year revenue guidance, while Domino’s Pizza Inc surged 14.6% to an all-time high on the heels of its quarterly report.\nSouthwest Airlines Co posted a bigger-than-expected quarterly loss, sending its stock down 3.5%, and American Airlines Group Inc dipped 1.1% even after reporting a quarterly profit.\nThe S&P 1500 Airlines index ended the session off 1.7%.\nShares of Texas Instruments Inc slid 5.3% after its current-quarter revenue forecast cast concerns as to whether the company will be able to meet spiking demand in the face of a global semiconductor shortage.\nThe Philadelphia SE Semiconductor index ended the session down 0.9%.\nChipmaker Intel Corp slipped more than 1% in extended trading after the chipmaker posted results and raised its annual revenue forecast.\nDeclining issues outnumbered advancing ones on the NYSE by a 1.82-to-1 ratio; on Nasdaq, a 1.90-to-1 ratio favored decliners.\nThe S&P 500 posted 39 new 52-week highs and no new lows; the Nasdaq Composite recorded 70 new highs and 54 new lows.\nVolume on U.S. exchanges was 8.25 billion shares, compared with the 10.12 billion average over the last 20 trading days.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":288,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":174819342,"gmtCreate":1627090041686,"gmtModify":1633768111998,"author":{"id":"3586858801552030","authorId":"3586858801552030","name":"Jmonster","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d8087de32037e0cada3980a84e2ced42","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3586858801552030","authorIdStr":"3586858801552030"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"In the face of delta virus, Vaccine stock does provide some comfort in the \"crash\" resistance.","listText":"In the face of delta virus, Vaccine stock does provide some comfort in the \"crash\" resistance.","text":"In the face of delta virus, Vaccine stock does provide some comfort in the \"crash\" resistance.","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/174819342","repostId":"2153983997","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2153983997","pubTimestamp":1627045860,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2153983997?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-07-23 21:11","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 Stocks to Buy Whether or Not a Market Crash Is Near","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2153983997","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Maybe the market is about to crash, and maybe it isn't. They can squirrel away money in their savings account, buy real estate, or purchase physical gold. But the method proven to deliver the highest average annual returns over the long run is putting your capital to work in the stock market.
\n
For example, despite navigating its way through the Black Monday crash in 1987, the dot-com bubble, the Great Recession, and the coronavirus crash, the benchmark S&P 500 has averaged an annual total return, including dividends paid, of 11% since the beginning of 1980. At this return rate, folks reinvesting their dividends are doubling their money about every 6.5 years.
\n
But you don't have to settle for simply matching the performance of the market. If you buy stakes in game-changing businesses, you have the opportunity to take a large sum of money and turn it into a life-altering amount of cash. The following four game-changing stocks all have the tools necessary to turn a $200,000 investment into $1 million (or more) over the next decade.
\n
\n
Redfin
\n
Whereas real estate is traditionally a slow-growing, if not boring, sector, technology-driven real estate company Redfin (NASDAQ:RDFN) is showing Wall Street that it has the ability to completely change how properties are purchased, sold, and viewed.
\n
One of the core attributes of the Redfin operating model is saving its users money. According to Realtor.com, the median home price for active listings in June 2021 was $385,000, meaning Redfin could save the median seller up to $7,700 in costs.
\n
But it's not just a more cost-efficient operation that's driving buyers and sellers to Redfin. It's the company's adaptation to a changing real estate landscape and the unparalleled personalization it provides. For instance, RedfinNow is a service that purchases homes for cash, which removes the hassles of putting a home on the market and haggling with prospective buyers over price. There's also Redfin Concierge, which works with homeowners on improvements and staging to maximize the value of their home.
\n
With Redfin's share of existing home sales nearly tripling from 0.44% at the end of 2015 to 1.14% by March 2021, it's pretty evident that Redfin's operating model is resonating with consumers.
\n
\n
Square
\n
Just because a high-growth stock has a market cap in excess of $100 billion doesn't mean it can't quintuple (or more) over the next decade. Fintech stock Square (NYSE:SQ) has two operating segments that should allow it to handily outperform the broader market in the coming 10 years.
\n
Square's bread and butter has long been its seller ecosystem, which provides point-of-sale devices, analytics, and other tools that help merchants succeed. Between 2012 and 2019, the gross payment volume (GPV) on Square's network surged by an average of 49% annually, with GPV on track to easily top $130 billion in 2021.
\n
As I've previously noted, the seller ecosystem was really designed to be a tool for smaller merchants. Over time, however, the percentage of medium-and-large-sized businesses utilizing the platform has grown. As of the end of March, 61% of GPV came from businesses with $125,000 or more in annualized GPV, up from 52% in Q1 2019. Since this is a fee-driven operating segment, it implies steady profit growth for the seller ecosystem.
\n
However, the real lure here is digital peer-to-peer platform Cash App, which has seen its monthly active user count more than quintuple in three years to 36 million (as of Dec. 31, 2020). Cash App allows Square to monetize consumer purchases, bank transfers, investments, and even Bitcoin exchange. With gross profit per user of $41, compared to less than $5 in expenses to bring in each new user, Cash App is a burgeoning cash cow for Square.
\n
\n
Fastly
\n
Yet another high-growth game-changer that could turn a $200,000 investment into $1 million or more over the next decade is edge cloud solutions provider Fastly (NYSE:FSLY).
\n
Fastly's primary task is to expedite the delivery of content to end users as quickly and securely as possible. While we we're witnessing a pretty steady shift of businesses pushing online prior to the pandemic, the coronavirus took this steady trend and kicked it into overdrive. Essentially, Fastly will benefit as more data is consumed digitally in the post-pandemic environment -- a trend that's unlikely to slow or ever reverse.
\n
All the key metrics investors would look for in a usage-based company are pointing in the right direction. The company's dollar-based net expansion rate has tallied 147% (Q3 2020), 143% (Q4 2020), and 139% (Q1 2021) in each of the past three quarters. In simple terms, this means existing clients spent 47%, 43%, and 39% more than they did in each respective year-ago quarter. We've also seen total customer count, enterprise customer count, and average enterprise customer spend, climb on a quarterly basis.
\n
What's perhaps most impressive about Fastly has been the company's ability to overcome ByteDance (the parent of TikTok) pulling traffic from its network in Q3 2020 due to a stateside spat with the Trump administration. ByteDance was Fastly's biggest customer by sales in the first-half of 2020. Despite this loss, Fastly still produced sales growth of better than 40% in the third quarter. Fastly is quickly becoming a popular content delivery solution, and the company's rapid sales growth proves it.
\n
\n
Salesforce
\n
A final game-changing stock that has the ability to make its shareholder a whole lot richer over the next decade is cloud-based customer relationship management (CRM) software provider Salesforce.com (NYSE:CRM).
\n
Put simply, CRM software is what customer-facing businesses use to log and access client information in real-time, handle service and product issues, manage online marketing campaigns, and run predictive analysis with regard to which clients might purchase a new product or service. That's just a small snippet of what CRM can help with. It's a relatively common solution employed by retail and service-oriented companies, but it is gaining traction in nontraditional industries and sectors.
\n
Salesforce chimes in as the single most-dominant player in the global CRM space. According to IDC, Salesforce controlled just shy of 20% of all global CRM spending in the first-half of 2020. That was more than the next four competitors, combined. Between internal innovation and CEO Marc Benioff's willingness to lean on acquisitions as a means to cross-sell and broaden its service portfolio and client base, Salesforce's market share lead appears virtually insurmountable in CRM software.
\n
Benioff anticipates Salesforce surpassing $50 billion in full-year sales by fiscal 2026 after delivering $21.3 billion in annual sales in fiscal 2021. If this projection proves accurate, Salesforce's 20%-plus sustained growth rate should help motor its stock a lot higher.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
4 Game-Changing Stocks That Can Turn $200,000 Into $1 Million (or More) in a Decade
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n4 Game-Changing Stocks That Can Turn $200,000 Into $1 Million (or More) in a Decade\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-07-26 15:16 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
There are no shortage of ways for people to build wealth. While we we're witnessing a pretty steady shift of businesses pushing online prior to the pandemic, the coronavirus took this steady trend and kicked it into overdrive. Essentially, Fastly will benefit as more data is consumed digitally in the post-pandemic environment -- a trend that's unlikely to slow or ever reverse.\nAll the key metrics investors would look for in a usage-based company are pointing in the right direction. We've also seen total customer count, enterprise customer count, and average enterprise customer spend, climb on a quarterly basis.\nWhat's perhaps most impressive about Fastly has been the company's ability to overcome ByteDance (the parent of TikTok) pulling traffic from its network in Q3 2020 due to a stateside spat with the Trump administration. ByteDance was Fastly's biggest customer by sales in the first-half of 2020. Despite this loss, Fastly still produced sales growth of better than 40% in the third quarter. Fastly is quickly becoming a popular content delivery solution, and the company's rapid sales growth proves it.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nSalesforce\nA final game-changing stock that has the ability to make its shareholder a whole lot richer over the next decade is cloud-based customer relationship management (CRM) software provider Salesforce.com (NYSE:CRM).\nPut simply, CRM software is what customer-facing businesses use to log and access client information in real-time, handle service and product issues, manage online marketing campaigns, and run predictive analysis with regard to which clients might purchase a new product or service. That's just a small snippet of what CRM can help with. It's a relatively common solution employed by retail and service-oriented companies, but it is gaining traction in nontraditional industries and sectors.\nSalesforce chimes in as the single most-dominant player in the global CRM space. According to IDC, Salesforce controlled just shy of 20% of all global CRM spending in the first-half of 2020. That was more than the next four competitors, combined. Between internal innovation and CEO Marc Benioff's willingness to lean on acquisitions as a means to cross-sell and broaden its service portfolio and client base, Salesforce's market share lead appears virtually insurmountable in CRM software.\nBenioff anticipates Salesforce surpassing $50 billion in full-year sales by fiscal 2026 after delivering $21.3 billion in annual sales in fiscal 2021. If this projection proves accurate, Salesforce's 20%-plus sustained growth rate should help motor its stock a lot higher.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":322,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":178514598,"gmtCreate":1626827366114,"gmtModify":1633770674516,"author":{"id":"3586858801552030","authorId":"3586858801552030","name":"Jmonster","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d8087de32037e0cada3980a84e2ced42","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3586858801552030","authorIdStr":"3586858801552030"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Watch and see","listText":"Watch and see","text":"Watch and see","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/178514598","repostId":"2152693458","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2152693458","pubTimestamp":1626790560,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2152693458?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-07-20 22:16","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 Expensive Stocks I'd Sell Before the Next Market Crash","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2152693458","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Even if you love these stocks, it may not be a bad move to cash out right now.","content":"
The stock market has been soaring to new heights in recent weeks and months, even though the coronavirus persists in some places, the economy hasn't fully recovered, and stimulus payments are still propping things up. All this creates a risk that as things get back to normal, the market overall could be due for a correction. Some of the money that has been flowing into it could be cashed out and put back into bonds as interest rates rise, or used for other purposes as spending resumes and people choose to hold less in stocks.
\n
If I owned Moderna, Inc. , fuboTV Inc., or Pinterest, Inc., I'd be considering selling them right now. Each company's share prices has more than doubled in the past year, blowing past the S&P 500 and its 35% gains during that time. But with inflated valuations and the possibility of a crash looming, they become riskier as each day passes by.
\n

\n
\n
1. Moderna
\n
Moderna has soared by 250% in 12 months, and for good reason -- its COVID-19 vaccine obtained emergency use authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) last year. The company expects to generate more than $18 billion in revenue from the vaccine in 2021, and its bottom line will finally be in the black -- in 2020 its losses totaled $747 million, triple what it lost in 2017.
\n
Things are certainly looking up for Moderna, especially with rival Pfizer looking to get the OK from the FDA for a third dose of its vaccine to help fight the delta variant. If Pfizer is successful, it's likely Moderna would follow suit, which could bring in even more revenue for the company. But there's no certainty that will happen. And more vaccines could be coming to market soon, including one from Novavax, which plans to apply for authorization from the FDA during the third quarter.
\n
As countries have more options for vaccines, that will inevitably bring down the revenue and potential market share for Moderna. And beyond that, there are questions about what the future holds for Moderna after COVID-19. While its mRNA technology has proven to be effective, that doesn't guarantee that other vaccines in its pipeline will succeed. Its vaccine for cytomegalovirus, currently the furthest along, is entering phase 3 trials. With a peak annual revenue potential of between $2 billion and $5 billion, however, the company won't be able to solely rely on it in replacing COVID-19-related revenue.
\n
Moderna's future is a question mark for me, and while its forward price-to-earnings ratio of 11 looks cheap, that could change drastically post-COVID. Even on a forward basis, the stock is trading at more than 6 times revenue -- Pfizer is at just 3. Although Moderna is doing well right now, its stock is expensive and could be due for a correction soon.
\n
2. fuboTV
\n
Streaming and entertainment company fuboTV isn't profitable, nor does profitability look to be in its sights. But that hasn't stopped investors from jumping on its bandwagon, driving shares up by more than 160% in 12 months. Its subscriber base as of March 31 topped 590,000 people -- a year-over-year increase of 105%. And the company may continue attracting more subscribers thanks to plans to launch a sportsbook before the end of the year.
\n
However, while the company is growing fast, my concern is that its approach may be too aggressive in pursuing revenue. In its most recent quarterly results, for the period ending March 31, revenue of $120 million was nowhere near enough to cover its $185 million in operating expenses. Of particular concern is that fuboTV has incurred subscriber-related expenses of $113 million -- more than the $107 million it brought in from subscription-related revenue.
\n
Without good margins to support the company's growth, the problem for investors is that fuboTV's financials may not get stronger as it expands, which could lead to an inevitable need to raise cash -- diluting existing shareholders. fuboTV currently trades at a multiple of 6 times its revenue, and although that's cheaper than Netflix's multiple of more than 9, the streaming giant is at least profitable. In a crash, investors look for safety, and without a strong bottom line, fuboTV's stock could fall quickly.
\n
3. Pinterest
\n
Pinterest's stock has benefited from people staying at home during the pandemic and using its discovery engine to explore hobbies and interests. As of the end of March, the company had 478 million monthly active users (MAUs), an increase of 30% year over year. That tops last year's results, in which MAUs of 367 million grew by 26%. The company does expect to see a slowdown next quarter, however, with its MAU growth rate likely to be in the \"mid-teens.\"
\n
Even with the rising user base and a 78% year-over-year increase in sales this past quarter to $485 million, the company still posted a net loss of $22 million. Although that was a fraction of the $141 million loss it incurred a year earlier, with the economy opening back up and people going back to their regular habits, there may be less time to spend on Pinterest -- and a decline in MAUs. If that happens, the progress the company has been making on its bottom line could be stalled.
\n
Pinterest has been a hot stay-at-home stock, but now could become a risky buy given its hefty valuation; currently, the growth stock trades at more than 22 times its revenue -- the average holding in the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund trades at a multiple of less than 7.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 Expensive Stocks I'd Sell Before the Next Market Crash
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 Expensive Stocks I'd Sell Before the Next Market Crash\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-07-20 22:16 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
The stock market has been soaring to new heights in recent weeks and months, even though the coronavirus persists in some places, the economy hasn't fully recovered, and stimulus payments are still ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"MRNA":"Moderna, Inc.","FUBO":"fuboTV Inc.","PINS":"Pinterest, Inc."},"source_url":"https://www.fool.com/investing/2021/07/20/3-expensive-stocks-id-sell-before-the-next-market/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"2152693458","content_text":"The stock market has been soaring to new heights in recent weeks and months, even though the coronavirus persists in some places, the economy hasn't fully recovered, and stimulus payments are still propping things up.
