It has a loyal base of customers making use of 1.65 billion active Apple devices. It generates loads of cash -- $95 billion in free cash flow over the last four quarters alone. Above all, it has tremendous brand power combined with a very sticky ecosystem of services.
\n
Smartphone rival Samsung just launched its latest round of foldable phones -- the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 -- and they've received good reviews. Apple still hasn't unveiled a competing offering, but it's always late to the party when it comes to adopting the latest technologies. Yet its customer satisfaction rates remain high, driving a record $347 billion in total spending on products and services over the last year.
\n
What keeps Apple users from jumping ship to competitors' products is the software experience. Its ever-growing suite of services, accessories, and features forms a wide competitive moat. Services revenue increased 28% year over year through the first three quarters of fiscal 2021. Sales of wearables and accessories, including the Apple Watch, grew 30%. The array of apps and features like Handoff, which allows a user to switch seamlessly from an app on an iOS device to a Mac, makes Apple's devices work better together, which gives customers an extra incentive to just stick with the company for all of their tech needs.
\n
It's no surprise that Apple continues to report strong growth for non-iPhone products. Mac sales surged 16% year over year in the most recent quarter. Moreover, the new M1-based Macs, featuring Apple's new internally developed processor, position the company to squeeze extra profit out of its computer business since the M1 chip is estimated to cost Apple less than the Intel chips it previously used.
\n
As for iPhones, consumers are getting more interested in upgrading to 5G devices, which is expected to make the launch of the iPhone 13 a big one. The prospect of a strong upgrade cycle to 5G devices, combined with the continued growth of its higher-margin services business, makes Apple a solid investment.
\n
\n
PayPal
\n
PayPal has delivered many years of consistent growth, previously as part of eBay and now as an independent company, but the pandemic has accelerated the trend away from cash and toward digital payments. A Mastercard survey found that 71% of consumers expect to use cash for transactions less often in the future, which plays right into the hands of PayPal.
\n
The digital payments provider's customer engagement has steadily climbed in recent years and should continue to do so. Since the end of 2017, transactions per account have climbed from 33.6 on a trailing-12-month basis to 43.5 as of the second quarter of 2021. This means the average customer still uses their PayPal account less than once per week, but there are good reasons to expect this metric to continue rising.
\n
Recent introductions of a cryptocurrency trading feature and a buy-now, pay-later option, plus the potential for adding the ability to trade stocks from within the app, could significantly grow engagement across PayPal's 403 million active accounts.
\n
This growing array of services and features has a direct correlation with PayPal's rising revenue. For example, it has seen a 19% increase in total payment volume from customers who use its QR codes to check out at stores.
\n
The company has experienced phenomenal growth, and the stock delivered a massive return of 640% over the last five years. Its revenue also more than doubled, and that is with customers still using their accounts less than once per week on average. PayPal could grow enormously from here if engagement strengthens, which is management's goal. Let's find out a bit more about these three stocks.
\n
\n
1. Activision Blizzard
\n
Activision Blizzard owns eight franchises that have achieved at least $1 billion in lifetime bookings. It's best known for making one of the most-played first-person shooters on the market in Call of Duty. A $1,000 investment in Activision stock in 2003, right after the first Call of Duty title was released, would be worth nearly $30,000 today.
\n
The Call of Duty franchise continues to grow. It's included in the company's Activision segment, which reached a record 150 million monthly active users (MAUs) in the first quarter. With seven other major franchises under its umbrella, Activision Blizzard sees an opportunity to improve those titles to more than double its MAUs to 1 billion.
\n
Making big-budget video game titles does require investing in thousands of employees and can involve significant marketing expenses, but many other aspects of production are not as capital intensive when compared to other industries. This allows top game companies that can sell millions of copies of new releases to produce robust amounts of free cash flow. Over the past four quarters, Activision Blizzard generated $2.8 billion in free cash flow on $8.5 billion in revenue.
\n
It pays out less than a fifth of that free cash flow in dividends, bringing the current dividend yield to 0.52%. There's clearly potential for Activision to safely double or triple that yield by increasing the payout ratio over time.
\n
Activision Blizzard owns several franchises that each have a built-in base of millions of fans, including World of Warcraft, Diablo, and Overwatch. The company is well stocked with cash, with $9.3 billion on the balance sheet, which should provide plenty of capital to continue reinvesting for growth.
\n
2. Electronic Arts
\n
Electronic Arts is known for its EA Sports titles, most notably Madden and FIFA. EA added 42 million new players to its network during the pandemic. It has a total of 230 million players and viewers, but management is targeting 500 million over the next five years.
\n
Most importantly, EA has demonstrated the ability to bring out new hits. The free-to-play shooter Apex Legends launched in 2019 and recently surpassed $1 billion in bookings. EA also revealed plans earlier this year to relaunch its previous NCAA Football franchise under the new title EA Sports College Football, which should be released within the next few years.
\n
EA's success in growing its sports business in recent years has left it with lots of cash to reinvest. It entered fiscal 2022 with $6.3 billion of cash and investments and has already put that to work. So far this year, EA has spent a combined $4.7 billion to buy Glu Mobile, Codemasters, and Playdemic. These studios bring their own game development prowess and popular titles to accelerate EA's expansion into mobile.
\n
In fiscal 2021, EA's free cash flow came to $1.8 billion on $5.6 billion of revenue. EA started paying a dividend within the last year, which signals management's confidence in its growth strategy. The quarterly dividend amounts to $0.17 per share, bringing the current dividend yield to 0.48%. The company's growing sports lineup and willingness to return capital to shareholders makes it a top video game stock to consider buying.
\n
3. Tencent
\n
Tencent is the largest video game company in the world by revenue and also operates the popular WeChat social media platform in China. It owns Riot Games, the operator of one of the top esports titles in the world in League of Legends. It also has ownership stakes in several other companies, including Epic Games and Activision Blizzard.
\n
Gaming makes up 29% of its annual revenue, with online advertising, fintech, and business services composing most of the balance. But gaming is Tencent's largest business segment. It's the diversity of revenue streams across fast-growing markets, including gaming and cloud services, that make it a stock worth keeping on your radar.
\n
Over the last four quarters, Tencent generated $18.5 billion in free cash flow. It has $39 billion of dry powder on the balance sheet, in addition to a portfolio of investees that was worth over $200 billion in the first quarter. That's a lot of firepower.
\n
Tencent compares the current state of the video game industry to the movie business in the 1930s, and it's investing to maintain its leadership status. Last year, management announced a deep pipeline of 40 new titles, including internally developed and licensed games in development. It's particularly focusing on where gamers are spending more time, which is with big-budget, immersive gaming experiences.
\n
\"The development speed, scale, range, and depth of information technology is much greater than the last Industrial Revolution,\" said Senior Vice President Steven Ma. \"This brings unimaginable opportunities for games and the space is almost limitless.\"
\n
However, investors should note the risks of investing in Chinese companies. Tencent has come under scrutiny by regulators that have cracked down on \"inappropriate\" content in the company's games, but Tencent has been able to navigate through these obstacles and deliver market-beating returns to investors. The stock price has fallen recently, which can be chalked up to regulatory issues and near-term investments in the business that will pressure profitability this year. state of the economy, inflation, and the direction the stock market might go next. Regardless of what happens in the near term, though, successful investing is about buying shares in strong companies and sticking with them for many years.
\n
Two top growth stocks that are poised to deliver market-beating returns over the next decade or more are Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) and PayPal (NASDAQ:PYPL). Here are the key factors that should fuel their prospects for a long time.
\n
\n
Apple
\n
Apple has all the qualities that long-term investors should look for in a stock.
Regardless of what happens in the near term, though, successful investing is about buying shares in strong companies and sticking with them for many years.\nTwo top growth stocks that are poised to deliver market-beating returns over the next decade or more are Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) and PayPal (NASDAQ:PYPL). Here are the key factors that should fuel their prospects for a long time.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nApple\nApple has all the qualities that long-term investors should look for in a stock. It has a loyal base of customers making use of 1.65 billion active Apple devices. It generates loads of cash -- $95 billion in free cash flow over the last four quarters alone. Above all, it has tremendous brand power combined with a very sticky ecosystem of services.\nSmartphone rival Samsung just launched its latest round of foldable phones -- the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 -- and they've received good reviews. Apple still hasn't unveiled a competing offering, but it's always late to the party when it comes to adopting the latest technologies. Yet its customer satisfaction rates remain high, driving a record $347 billion in total spending on products and services over the last year.\nWhat keeps Apple users from jumping ship to competitors' products is the software experience. Its ever-growing suite of services, accessories, and features forms a wide competitive moat. Services revenue increased 28% year over year through the first three quarters of fiscal 2021. Sales of wearables and accessories, including the Apple Watch, grew 30%. The array of apps and features like Handoff, which allows a user to switch seamlessly from an app on an iOS device to a Mac, makes Apple's devices work better together, which gives customers an extra incentive to just stick with the company for all of their tech needs.\nIt's no surprise that Apple continues to report strong growth for non-iPhone products. Mac sales surged 16% year over year in the most recent quarter. Moreover, the new M1-based Macs, featuring Apple's new internally developed processor, position the company to squeeze extra profit out of its computer business since the M1 chip is estimated to cost Apple less than the Intel chips it previously used.\nAs for iPhones, consumers are getting more interested in upgrading to 5G devices, which is expected to make the launch of the iPhone 13 a big one. The prospect of a strong upgrade cycle to 5G devices, combined with the continued growth of its higher-margin services business, makes Apple a solid investment.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nPayPal\nPayPal has delivered many years of consistent growth, previously as part of eBay and now as an independent company, but the pandemic has accelerated the trend away from cash and toward digital payments. A Mastercard survey found that 71% of consumers expect to use cash for transactions less often in the future, which plays right into the hands of PayPal.\nThe digital payments provider's customer engagement has steadily climbed in recent years and should continue to do so. Since the end of 2017, transactions per account have climbed from 33.6 on a trailing-12-month basis to 43.5 as of the second quarter of 2021. This means the average customer still uses their PayPal account less than once per week, but there are good reasons to expect this metric to continue rising.\nRecent introductions of a cryptocurrency trading feature and a buy-now, pay-later option, plus the potential for adding the ability to trade stocks from within the app, could significantly grow engagement across PayPal's 403 million active accounts.\nThis growing array of services and features has a direct correlation with PayPal's rising revenue. For example, it has seen a 19% increase in total payment volume from customers who use its QR codes to check out at stores.\nThe company has experienced phenomenal growth, and the stock delivered a massive return of 640% over the last five years. Its revenue also more than doubled, and that is with customers still using their accounts less than once per week on average. PayPal could grow enormously from here if engagement strengthens, which is management's goal. For these reasons, this growth stock should remain a rewarding investment for years to come.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":155,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":149601511,"gmtCreate":1625719091633,"gmtModify":1631889068337,"author":{"id":"3586742349079094","authorId":"3586742349079094","name":"Astroboy21","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/ec500e81e8139fbf7052db4d0f2566ff","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3586742349079094","authorIdStr":"3586742349079094"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[Strong] [USD] ","listText":"[Strong] [USD] ","text":"[Strong] [USD]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/149601511","repostId":"1176865752","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":239,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":174244294,"gmtCreate":1627105902118,"gmtModify":1631889068334,"author":{"id":"3586742349079094","authorId":"3586742349079094","name":"Astroboy21","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/ec500e81e8139fbf7052db4d0f2566ff","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3586742349079094","authorIdStr":"3586742349079094"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good","listText":"Good","text":"Good","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/174244294","repostId":"2153981075","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2153981075","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1627091190,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2153981075?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-07-24 09:46","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 Best Video Game Stocks to Buy in the Next Market Crash","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2153981075","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"These industry leaders should prosper in the growing $175 billion interactive entertainment market.","content":"
The bulls in the market have been stomping on the bears for more than a year, but history shows that stock prices don't move up in a straight line. A $1,000 investment in Activision stock in 2003, right after the first Call of Duty title was released, would be worth nearly $30,000 today.
\n
The Call of Duty franchise continues to grow.
