stock slides further and bears are taking control over its demise ahead","content":"
When Skillz(NASDAQ:SKLZ) closed at a 52-week low last week, it discouraged investors from seeking exposure to the sports betting and iGaming market. SKLZ stock is faring worse than fuboTV(NYSE:FUBO), which is also entering the sports betting market.
\n
Still, Skillz is not the only company facing selling pressure.DraftKings(NASDAQ:DKNG) is six times larger than Skillz by market capitalization. Its stock is down, trading well below the 200-day moving average.
\n
Why is Skillz performing the worst?
\n
Esports Would Lift SKLZ Stock
\n
Chief Executive Officer Andrew Paradise said that the company believed nine years ago that esports is for everyone. Skillz wants to make it as fair and as accessible. It will start by enabling developers of any size to monetize their work.
\n
The company’s first step for growth in this space is growing its user base. Though they start as a free user, their long-term value increases. Paradise characterized the esports mindset as people who love sports all their life. For example, people who love skiing may sky less as they get older. Yet they will keep spending more money over time while skiing less. The company is applying this loan-to-value return on its platform. It needs to acquire more users first.
\n
Skillz accelerated the user base growth by acquiring Aarki, an AI-enabled mobile marketing platform. This added around 200 million users. Yet it also cost Skillz $150 million.Nasdaq’s underperformance undermines investor confidence for companies that acquire. Skillz will get only $13 million in Aarki revenue this year. It still needs a few quarters to fully integrated Aarki and realize the potential synergies.
\n
Platform Development
\n
Skillz will use Aarki’s data with its proprietary data to create a better data value chain. For example, this will lead to better ad impressions for the end-user over time. The company expects user acquisition costs will fall, thanks to Aarki. Paradise gave four to eight quarters for the integration work to pay off. After the stock fell, investors are expressing skepticism over that already long timeline.
\n
New content on the platform, brand distribution partnerships, like Skillz has with the NFL, or expansion in new markets will increase the platform’s value. To increase user engagement, Skillz bought Exit for $50 million. This added multiplayer synchronous features to its platform. The company wants to accelerate its development in hardcore gaming genres. For example, first-person shooter, racing, and fighting games are the types of games that will get platform exclusivity for Exit’s technology.
\n
Alternative Investments
\n
Markets cooled on gaming companies.Activision(NASDAQ:ATVI) is on a downtrend.Zynga(NASDAQ:ZNGA), another mobile gaming firm, is trading at close to 52-week lows. Both stocks are alternatives to investing in Skillz. Value investors may buy Activision, betting that the company will resolve its internal work culture problems.
\n
Zynga’s expensive acquisitions are spooking investors. If the firm proves that its $525 million acquisition of StarLark, a Chinese game developer, ZNGA stock will rebound. Still, the valuation of many Chinese firms is questionable.
\n
Skillz does not have the same geographical risks as Zynga.
\n
Fair Value
\n
In a five-year discounted cash flow EBITDA exit model, readers may assume a generous terminal EBITDA multiple of 40.1 times. This implies a fair value of $9.59:
\n

\n
Skillz will need to continue reporting revenue growing at over 50% on average to justify that fair value.
\n
Risks
\n
Bearish investors have a substantial short float of over 20% against SKLZ stock. With the stock falling steadily, markets are betting that Q3 results will disappoint investors. Skillz will need to exceed investor expectations to overcome bears. It must also report strong monthly active users from titles like Trivia CrackandBig Buck Hunter. The latter title has a $5,000 competition, which uses Skillz’s real-money gaming features. This will draw over 20,000 players who are competing for the chance to win the prize.
\n
Your Takeaway on SKLZ Stock
\n
Bears are in full control with SKLZ stock. SKLZ stock is faring worse than fuboTV(NYSE:FUBO), which is also entering the sports betting market.\nStill, Skillz is not the only company facing selling pressure.DraftKings(NASDAQ:DKNG) is six times larger than Skillz by market capitalization. Its stock is down, trading well below the 200-day moving average.\nWhy is Skillz performing the worst?\nEsports Would Lift SKLZ Stock\nChief Executive Officer Andrew Paradise said that the company believed nine years ago that esports is for everyone. Skillz wants to make it as fair and as accessible. It will start by enabling developers of any size to monetize their work.\nThe company’s first step for growth in this space is growing its user base. Though they start as a free user, their long-term value increases. Paradise characterized the esports mindset as people who love sports all their life. For example, people who love skiing may sky less as they get older. Yet they will keep spending more money over time while skiing less. The company is applying this loan-to-value return on its platform. It needs to acquire more users first.\nSkillz accelerated the user base growth by acquiring Aarki, an AI-enabled mobile marketing platform. This added around 200 million users. Yet it also cost Skillz $150 million.Nasdaq’s underperformance undermines investor confidence for companies that acquire. Skillz will get only $13 million in Aarki revenue this year. It still needs a few quarters to fully integrated Aarki and realize the potential synergies.\nPlatform Development\nSkillz will use Aarki’s data with its proprietary data to create a better data value chain. For example, this will lead to better ad impressions for the end-user over time. The company expects user acquisition costs will fall, thanks to Aarki. Paradise gave four to eight quarters for the integration work to pay off. After the stock fell, investors are expressing skepticism over that already long timeline.\nNew content on the platform, brand distribution partnerships, like Skillz has with the NFL, or expansion in new markets will increase the platform’s value. To increase user engagement, Skillz bought Exit for $50 million. This added multiplayer synchronous features to its platform. The company wants to accelerate its development in hardcore gaming genres. For example, first-person shooter, racing, and fighting games are the types of games that will get platform exclusivity for Exit’s technology.\nAlternative Investments\nMarkets cooled on gaming companies.Activision(NASDAQ:ATVI) is on a downtrend.Zynga(NASDAQ:ZNGA), another mobile gaming firm, is trading at close to 52-week lows. Both stocks are alternatives to investing in Skillz. Value investors may buy Activision, betting that the company will resolve its internal work culture problems.\nZynga’s expensive acquisitions are spooking investors. If the firm proves that its $525 million acquisition of StarLark, a Chinese game developer, ZNGA stock will rebound. Still, the valuation of many Chinese firms is questionable.\nSkillz does not have the same geographical risks as Zynga.\nFair Value\nIn a five-year discounted cash flow EBITDA exit model, readers may assume a generous terminal EBITDA multiple of 40.1 times. This implies a fair value of $9.59:\n\nSkillz will need to continue reporting revenue growing at over 50% on average to justify that fair value.\nRisks\nBearish investors have a substantial short float of over 20% against SKLZ stock. This will draw over 20,000 players who are competing for the chance to win the prize.\nYour Takeaway on SKLZ Stock\nBears are in full control with SKLZ stock. Every rally is short-lived and follows with steady selling. The firm is unlikely to post impressive quarterly results next month. Even if it does, risks are high that the company will report challenges in its acquisitions. It may face integration delays or costs cuts that are behind schedule.\nAs the technology market turns bearish, Skillz cannot afford to disappoint investors.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":527,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":822454005,"gmtCreate":1634168109933,"gmtModify":1634168110078,"author":{"id":"3585138959004447","authorId":"3585138959004447","name":"egbloper","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2efd47524b47d72e21f64990962a0bd4","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Cloudflare, Inc.(NET)$good to have in your portfolio. The U.S. Energy Information Administration forecasts that the country's consumption of solar power in 2022 will be up 25% from this year's levels, which are expected to be 26% better than 2020's total. Worldwide, S&P Global Platts Analytics estimates that solar power production capacity is set to grow at an average pace of 12% per year through 2026.\nYou don't really have to read between the lines here. SolarEdge's projected revenue growth of 35% this year and 30% next year are plenty plausible and shouldn't be derailed by any economic turbulence.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":398,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":821836557,"gmtCreate":1633723177051,"gmtModify":1633723177564,"author":{"id":"3585138959004447","authorId":"3585138959004447","name":"egbloper","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2efd47524b47d72e21f64990962a0bd4","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$DarkPulse, Inc.(DPLS)$at this price might be a risk worth taking for this penny stock","listText":"$DarkPulse, Inc.(DPLS)$at this price might be a risk worth taking for this penny stock","text":"$DarkPulse, Inc.(DPLS)$at this price might be a risk worth taking for this penny stock","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c545aedbf89126b73b6cf92c561e4047","width":"1440","height":"3230"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/821836557","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":335,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":823263204,"gmtCreate":1633635569105,"gmtModify":1633635569523,"author":{"id":"3585138959004447","authorId":"3585138959004447","name":"egbloper","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2efd47524b47d72e21f64990962a0bd4","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Peloton Interactive, Inc.(PTON)$still cheap?","listText":"$Peloton Interactive, Inc.(PTON)$still cheap?","text":"$Peloton Interactive, Inc.(PTON)$still cheap?","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f6d19f7c2f56bada4aa1fe0a2a3b2b08","width":"1440","height":"3230"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/823263204","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":498,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":829794661,"gmtCreate":1633553215659,"gmtModify":1633553215999,"author":{"id":"3585138959004447","authorId":"3585138959004447","name":"egbloper","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2efd47524b47d72e21f64990962a0bd4","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Keep some of your portfolio in gold ","listText":"Keep some of your portfolio in gold ","text":"Keep some of your portfolio in gold","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/829794661","repostId":"2173691081","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":312,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":867629384,"gmtCreate":1633256475099,"gmtModify":1633256475453,"author":{"id":"3585138959004447","authorId":"3585138959004447","name":"egbloper","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/2efd47524b47d72e21f64990962a0bd4","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Peloton Interactive, Inc.(PTON)$potential to be the Apple of home exercise. As CEO of Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.A)(NYSE:BRK.B), Buffett has led his company to an average annual return of 20% since taking the helm in 1965. Through 2020, this worked out to an aggregate return of more than 2,800,000%, and it's created over $500 billion in value for Berkshire Hathaway's shareholders.
\n
Like all investors, Buffett isn't infallible. He's going to make mistakes from time to time. But he and his investing team have a knack for locating companies with plain-as-day sustainable competitive advantages. Even though it's a stock that was added by Buffett's investing lieutenants (Todd Combs and Ted Weschler) and not the Oracle of Omaha himself, it's nevertheless one of the most attractive holdings in Berkshire Hathaway's portfolio.
\n
As a lot of folks are probably aware, Amazon is the king of the hill when it comes online commerce. This year, the company's marketplace is expected to control roughly $0.40 of every $1 spent online in the United States, according to an April report from eMarketer. The next closest competitor is Walmart, which'll handle about 7% of all U.S. online retail.
\n
Amazon has been able to pivot its incredible online retail success into signing up more than 200 million people worldwide to a Prime membership. While Prime members enjoy free two-day shipping and access to streaming content, the lure for Amazon is that Prime fees generate tens of billions in added revenue that it can use to undercut brick-and-mortar retailers on price and buoy its margins.
\n
What you might not realize about Amazon is that it's overwhelmingly dominant in a second industry, as well. Amazon Web Services (AWS) brought in 32% of global cloud infrastructure spending in the first quarter, per Canalys. Cloud infrastructure is still, arguably, in the early innings of its expansion, and it's a considerably higher margin segment for Amazon than retail or advertising. Thus, AWS is going to send Amazon's operating cash flow to the moon as it grows into a larger percentage of total sales.
\n
For the past 11 years, Wall Street and investors have consistently valued Amazon at a multiple of 23 to 37 times its cash flow. If this range remains intact, a near-tripling in the stock is possible by mid-decade.
\n
\n
Bristol Myers Squibb
\n
If value investing suits you better, pharmaceutical stock Bristol Myers Squibb (NYSE:BMY) has the makings of a screaming summer buy.
\n
The great thing about healthcare stocks is they're highly defensive. Since we don't get to choose when we get sick or what ailments we develop, there's a consistent demand for healthcare services, drugs, and devices, no matter how well or poorly the U.S. and global economy are performing.
\n
What makes Bristol Myers Squibb such a special company is its organic growth potential and astute dealmaking. To tackle the former, Bristol Myers and Pfizer co-developed the world's leading oral anticoagulant, Eliquis, which looks to be on pace for more than $10 billion in sales this year for Bristol. There's also cancer immunotherapy Opdivo, which is being examined in dozens of ongoing clinical trials. Opdivo is already bringing in about $7 billion annually, and could push higher with continued label expansion opportunities. All told, eight brand-name therapies are on track for at least $1.2 billion in annual sales this year, based on extrapolated Q1 sales totals.
\n
On the dealmaking front, Bristol Myers Squibb hit a home run when it acquired cancer and immunology drugmaker Celgene in 2019. Celgene's superstar is multiple myeloma drug Revlimid, which brought in $12.1 billion in sales last year and has been growing by a double-digit percentage annually for more than a decade. Longer duration of use, label expansions, improved cancer screening diagnostics, and strong pricing power have all fueled Revlimid's growth. Best of all, it's protected from a large wave of generic competition until the end of January 2026. This means Bristol Myers will be basking in significant cash flow for another 4.5 years.
\n
In a world where valuation premiums are soaring, it seems unjust that a company so profitable should be valued at only 8.5 times Wall Street's consensus earnings for 2022.
\n
\n
General Motors
\n
Lastly, if you want a screaming summer buy that's near and dear to Warren Buffett's investment philosophy, consider auto stock General Motors (NYSE:GM).
\n
Historically, auto stocks are slow-growing companies that sports high levels of debt and are valued at price-to-earnings multiples that are well below the average S&P 500 company. With IHS Markit forecasting that 10% of all U.S. vehicle sales will be electric by 2025 (up from 1.8% in 2020), a hefty investment in this changing landscape makes sense for GM.
\n
Equally important are the company's ambitions overseas -- especially in China, the largest auto market in the world. Square
\n
Square (NYSE:SQ) isn't a name that needs much of an introduction. The company's roots are in turning smartphones into credit card readers for small proprietors typically ignored by payment middlemen. But it's evolved into so much more. Point-of-sale devices, customer relationship management tools, and even banking services are just some of the offerings now in Square's wheelhouse, and a key part of the reason revenue is expected to double this fiscal year compared to last year's top line. Earnings are projected to grow even more.
\n
That growth pace should cool beginning next year. But don't read too much into the slowdown. It's not a sign that the company's expansion is peaking. The latest of its lengthening list of product developments and innovations is the impending acquisition and eventual integration of buy-now-pay-later service Afterpay. The Taiwanese company makes chips for names like Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, and Intel, just to name a few, each of which has been impacted by the supply crunch. It's the key reason this year's top line is projected to swell nearly 22%, driving even more profit growth.
\n
There's a curious timing element to this trade, however. Although all the chip-manufacturing capacity being added right now could lead to a price-gouging glut in 2023, this year's industry-wide regrouping effort is going to gain the bulk of its traction next year before all those new foundries are ready to start cranking out semiconductors. Analysts are calling for revenue growth of 42% for fiscal 2022, which should, in turn, pump up per-share profits from $0.69 to $0.85. That's impressive, but even more impressive is the fact that this stock is currently only priced at 13 times next year's expected profits.
\n
3. The International Energy Agency's 2020 World Energy Outlook points out that thanks to continued cost reductions, solar power was last year's cheapest form of electricity on a global basis. Grid parity -- the cost of solar power versus the cost of electricity generated by fossil fuels -- is within sight in the United States as well as in China, where it matters most, and that parity will have more to do with smarter grid management than more efficient photovoltaic cells.
\n
Now that it makes as much financial sense to switch to solar power as it does to stick with non-renewable power options, solar adoption is set to soar. The U.S. Energy Information Administration forecasts that the country's consumption of solar power in 2022 will be up 25% from this year's levels, which are expected to be 26% better than 2020's total. Worldwide, S&P Global Platts Analytics estimates that solar power production capacity is set to grow at an average pace of 12% per year through 2026.
\n
You don't really have to read between the lines here.
