Sales still grew a respectable 12%, after adjusting for Covid-19’s impact, while earnings matched Wall Street forecasts.
\n
Investors were satisfied. Lilly (ticker: LLY) stock is up 4% to $256.53 in Tuesday morning trading, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 0.1% and the S&P 500 is flat.
\n
All told, Lilly’s second-quarter revenue jumped 23% to $6.7 billion. That’s slightly better than the $6.6 billion consensus forecast among analysts tallied at Sentieo.com. The Indianapolis-based company enjoyed strong volume growth. The strong year-over-year comparison benefited from the subdued level of June 2020 business in the Covid lockdown, which sapped $250 million from last year’s quarter, by Lilly estimate. Adjusting for that unusual weakness, as well as one-time benefits in 2021 like the company’s sale of Chinese rights to its erectile dysfunction treatment Cialis, Lilly said that second-quarter sales grew 12%.
\n
The company highlighted the strong growth of newer products, like diabetes drug Trulicity, heart drug Jardiance, and psoriasis treatment Taltz. Before year-end 2021, it hopes to file a marketing application for its investigational treatment for Alzheimer’s disease, donanemab. The Food and Drug Administration’s surprise approval of the Alzheimer’s treatment Aduhelm from Biogen (BIIB) has raised investor expectations for other candidates like Lilly’s.
\n
Earnings in the second quarter were $1.4 billion, or $1.53 per share. Adjusting for noncash and one-time accruals, Lilly says EPS were $1.83, which represented growth of about 30% from the adjusted number for the year-ago second quarter.
\n
Antibody treatments for Covid have been a boost to Lilly stock in recent quarters. Second-quarter revenue from those treatments was $149 million. The appearance of variant strains of the Covid-causing SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus is a problem for custom-crafted antibody treatments, however. While Lilly says that its two authorized antibody products show laboratory effectiveness against the virus’ worrisome Delta variant, the U.S. government stopped shipments of the Lilly antibodies in June on evidence that they don’t neutralize the Beta and Gamma variants.
\n
So Lilly is writing down the value of some antibody inventories, and the write-down led it to revise its earnings guidance for the 2021 year. Profits this year will come in around a midpoint of about $6.83 a share, says Lilly, instead of the previously guided midpoint of $7.13. Apart from the write-down, and other noncash adjustments, however, the midpoint forecast is unchanged, at $7.90 a share.
\n
Lilly gained 4% in morning trading, reached record high.
","source":"lsy1610680873436","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Eli Lilly Earnings Missed Expectations. The iPhone maker's privacy changes make it harder for apps to track users and restrict advertisers from accessing valuable data for targeting ads.
\n
The company also announced on Wednesday that it would require anyone working at its U.S. offices to be vaccinated against COVID-19, joining Alphabet Inc(GOOGL.O)and Netflix(NFLX.O).
\n
Monthly active users came in at 2.90 billion, up 7% from the same period last year but missing analyst expectations of 2.92 billion and marking the slowest growth rate in at least three years, according to IBES data from Refinitiv.
\n
\"The user growth slowdown is notable and highlights the engagement challenges as the world opens up. It pointed to a 47% increase in price per ad.
\n
\"In the third and fourth quarters of 2021, we expect year-over-year total revenue growth rates to decelerate significantly on a sequential basis as we lap periods of increasingly strong growth,\" Chief Financial Officer Dave Wehner said in the earnings release.
\n
Net income in the second quarter more than doubled to $10.4 billion, or $3.61 per share. Analysts had expected a profit of $3.03 per share.
\n
The world's largest social network has been ramping up its ecommerce efforts, which are expected to bring additional revenue to the company and make its ad inventory more valuable. Expect a blowout.
\n
For the June quarter, the tech giant has projected sales of $110 billion to $116 billion, with operating income in the $4.5 billion-to-$8 billion range. Strong reports from Alphabet,Snap and Twitter suggest Amazon will post accelerating growth in its underappreciated advertising business. And the strength in the cloud business at Microsoft bodes well for Amazon Web Services.
\n
Street estimates call for Amazon to post $57.3 billion in online sales, up 25%; $24.8 billion in third-party sellers services, up 36%; $14.3 billion from AWS, up 32%; $7.9 billion in subscription services, up 36%; $7 billion in “other” revenue, which is mostly advertising, up 66%; and $3.9 billion in physical stores revenue, up 3%.
\n
Plus, there are a couple of other factors at play. This will be the first quarter for Amazon since Jeff Bezos turned over the CEO reins to Andy Jassy. Bezos didn’t typically participate in the company’s quarterly earnings calls with analysts, leaving that job to CFO Brian OIsavky; it remains to be seen if Jassy will make an appearance this year. Also, Amazon finds itself at the heart of the debate—in Washington and elsewhere—over the power of tech companies, and now faces an in-depth investigation by the Federal Trade Commission over its proposed acquisition of the film studio MGM.Amazon has requested that FTC Chair Lina Khan recuse herself from any matters involving Amazon given her past criticisms of the company.
\n

\n
Investors also will be watching for clues on how the company expects the pandemic and a return to a more normal economy will impact results for the rest of the year. Street estimates for the September quarter call for revenue of $118.6 billion and profits of $12.97 a share.
\n
In a research note, MKM Partners analyst Rohit Kulkarni points out that Amazon has underperformed both Alphabet and Facebook shares this year. He thinks the stock has been weighed down by ongoing debate about the true strength of this year’s Prime Day sales event, as well as ongoing questions about the outlook for e-commerce as supplemental U.S. unemployment benefits lapse in September. Nonetheless, Kulkarni thinks that advertising, Amazon Prime subscriptions, and AWS will together drive upside to both second-quarter results and guidance, and he continues to consider Amazon his best pick among the big internet stocks. Kulkarni keeps his Buy rating and $4,075 target price.
\n
Evercore ISI analyst Mark Mahaney maintains an Outperform rating and $4,500 target price. He thinks Street estimates for the second quarter “look largely reasonable,” although he has some concerns that the Street might be too bullish on the third quarter, in particular given Prime Day this year shifted into the second quarter.
\n
Monness Crespi White analyst Brian White notes that Amazon shares have been “range bound” over the past few months, but he thinks the company is “uniquely positioned” to exit the pandemic as one of the biggest beneficiaries of the digital transformation trend. White asserts that “the company’s growth path is very attractive across the e-commerce segment, AWS, digital media, advertising, Alexa and more.” White maintains his Buy rating and $4,500 target price.
\n
On Wednesday, Amazon shares were up 0.1%, to $3,630.32.
","source":"lsy1601382232898","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Amazon Reports Earnings Thursday. Kulkarni keeps his Buy rating and $4,075 target price.\nEvercore ISI analyst Mark Mahaney maintains an Outperform rating and $4,500 target price. He thinks Street estimates for the second quarter “look largely reasonable,” although he has some concerns that the Street might be too bullish on the third quarter, in particular given Prime Day this year shifted into the second quarter.\nMonness Crespi White analyst Brian White notes that Amazon shares have been “range bound” over the past few months, but he thinks the company is “uniquely positioned” to exit the pandemic as one of the biggest beneficiaries of the digital transformation trend. White asserts that “the company’s growth path is very attractive across the e-commerce segment, AWS, digital media, advertising, Alexa and more.” White maintains his Buy rating and $4,500 target price.\nOn Wednesday, Amazon shares were up 0.1%, to $3,630.32.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":120,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":801165816,"gmtCreate":1627488592935,"gmtModify":1631889097623,"author":{"id":"3583393367257640","authorId":"3583393367257640","name":"K0650","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9bf0d06edede80c98fb29b0a02738eee","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3583393367257640","idStr":"3583393367257640"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$Strong showingtoday! The tables are starting to turn. Disney+ introduced a new series this week -- Behind the Attraction -- with every episode looking at the origin of popular theme park attractions.
\n
The stakes will be raised even higher when Jungle Cruise hits theaters next week. The film, starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, is named and themed loosely for the classic pun-laden Disneyland boat ride.
\n

\n
\n
Behind the scenes
\n
This isn't the first time Disney has leaned on an iconic in-park experience as a content creator. The Pirates of the Caribbean swashbuckler-heavy boat ride has spawned the most successful theatrical franchise based on a theme park attraction, but Disney hasn't shied away from putting out films titled Country Bear Jamboree, Haunted Mansion, Mission to Mars, and Tower of Terror.
\n
Some of those flicks aren't particularly watchable, but the synergy is fairly obvious if things click. A blockbuster at the multiplex will draw visitors to Disneyland or Disney World, and the media giant won't have to invest in building a new ride to cash in on a hot movie.
\n
Next week's Jungle Cruise will be somewhat different. Disney has been investing in updating the attraction on both coasts. It's not necessarily the new film's arrival inspiring the tweaks. We're not getting audio-animatronics of Blunt and The Rock added to the watery attraction. The original Jungle Cruise ride had some elements that don't jibe with the woke new normal, joining Pirates of the Caribbean and eventually Splash Mountain as classic rides that are going for a more socially-aware makeover.
\n
Disney's ecosystem is difficult to top. It operates the world's most-visited theme parks. In 2019 it put out the country's six highest-grossing films. Its media empire is helmed by ABC, Disney Channel, and ESPN, and they give the House of Mouse a deep reach into homes. It's not just mere luck that the Disney+ streaming service would go on to top 100 million paying subscribers just months into its second year of availability. Put it all together and Disney is built to cash in on any property that spikes in popularity in any of its operating segments.
\n
The easiest connection is when Disney has a hit movie, a pond that is well stocked after making 10-figure acquisitions of Marvel, Pixar, and Lucasfilm. Lucasfilm's Star Wars is the basis of themed lands at Disney's theme parks in Florida and California; it's the series that put Disney+ on the map, and a Star Wars-themed luxury escapism hotel will open next year at Disney World.
\n
The new Behind the Attraction show on Disney+ is smart. The tables are starting to turn. Disney+ introduced a new series this week -- Behind the Attraction -- with every episode looking at the origin of popular theme park attractions.\nThe stakes will be raised even higher when Jungle Cruise hits theaters next week. The film, starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, is named and themed loosely for the classic pun-laden Disneyland boat ride.\n\nImage source: Disney.\nBehind the scenes\nThis isn't the first time Disney has leaned on an iconic in-park experience as a content creator. The Pirates of the Caribbean swashbuckler-heavy boat ride has spawned the most successful theatrical franchise based on a theme park attraction, but Disney hasn't shied away from putting out films titled Country Bear Jamboree, Haunted Mansion, Mission to Mars, and Tower of Terror.\nSome of those flicks aren't particularly watchable, but the synergy is fairly obvious if things click. A blockbuster at the multiplex will draw visitors to Disneyland or Disney World, and the media giant won't have to invest in building a new ride to cash in on a hot movie.\nNext week's Jungle Cruise will be somewhat different. Disney has been investing in updating the attraction on both coasts. It's not necessarily the new film's arrival inspiring the tweaks. We're not getting audio-animatronics of Blunt and The Rock added to the watery attraction. The original Jungle Cruise ride had some elements that don't jibe with the woke new normal, joining Pirates of the Caribbean and eventually Splash Mountain as classic rides that are going for a more socially-aware makeover.\nDisney's ecosystem is difficult to top. Put it all together and Disney is built to cash in on any property that spikes in popularity in any of its operating segments.\nThe easiest connection is when Disney has a hit movie, a pond that is well stocked after making 10-figure acquisitions of Marvel, Pixar, and Lucasfilm. Lucasfilm's Star Wars is the basis of themed lands at Disney's theme parks in Florida and California; it's the series that put Disney+ on the map, and a Star Wars-themed luxury escapism hotel will open next year at Disney World.\nThe new Behind the Attraction show on Disney+ is smart. It gives the bellwether media stock promotional material that it can push out as content for the fast-growing service. If Jungle Cruise is a hit, it will be even smarter, especially if it's successful enough to warrant sequels that will keep demand humming for the theme park experience as well as incremental merchandising opportunities. NTF arena gained traction among apes and Reddit traders. Wall Street Memes discusses why this could be good news for the stock.\n
\n
GameStop(GME) -Get Report shares have been heading lower week after week since June 9. But the meme mania pioneer remains one of the most debated stocks among Redditors. Last week, on July 14, news of GameStop's NFT release bumped the stock’s popularity on WallStreetBets. See below.
\n

\n
Latest news
\n
Recently, news has surfaced that a GameStop NFT (non-fungible token) project was underway. Some investors and traders saw the development as a potential catalyst for the stock.
\n
NFT is a single asset usually embedded in an object (like a video game skin, for example) and registered in a blockchain network. It is an encrypted digital record of a piece of art that can be bought, sold, and collected.
\n
The news gained relevance after GameStop launched awebsiteabout NFT in the past few weeks. However, not much more information has been shared by the company so far.
\n
Why NFT is relevant
\n
NFT is a form of CryptoArt. The art pieces can take the form of a logo, a phrase, a song, and are published directly into the blockchain.
\n
Although the CryptoArt market has been around for a while, it has gained more attention in 2021. The chart below shows that the CryptoArt market is already valued at $594 million, as more than 800,000 artwork pieces have been sold so far.
\n

\n
Below are some fun facts about CryptoArt:
\n
\n
the co-creator of the famous cartoon Ricky and Morty auctioned off a hand-drawn black and white piece of CryptoArt for $150,000;
\n
the most expensive CryptoArt on record was sold for $69 million: Everydays, by artist Beeple;
\n
viral video “Charlie bit my finger” was turned into an NFT andsoldfor over $760,000 in June;
\n
the CEO of Twitter sold his first tweet artwork for $2.9 million.
\n
\n
Can GME benefit from NFTs?
\n
GameStop has not yet offered details about the launch of its NFT or its strategy around it. It is safe to say that the company would benefit from diversifying its business model, expanding further beyond gaming and the brick-and-mortar channel – and that it is probably looking to do so with digital art.
\n
The company is currently pushing to turn its fortunes around. CEO George Sherman left the company after failing to meet his goals – not beforecashing insome of his GME shares at meme prices.
\n
On the e-commerce front, GameStop has recently hired several former Amazon employees to improve the digital strategy. Billionaire Chewy co-founder and GameStop chairman Ryan Cohen seems to have the credentials to help overhaul GameStop’s operations, which has helped to keep meme mania alive.
\n
Will GameStop succeed at turning its business around? Wall Street Memes discusses why this could be good news for the stock.\n\nGameStop(GME) -Get Report shares have been heading lower week after week since June 9. But the meme mania pioneer remains one of the most debated stocks among Redditors. Last week, on July 14, news of GameStop's NFT release bumped the stock’s popularity on WallStreetBets. See below.\n\nLatest news\nRecently, news has surfaced that a GameStop NFT (non-fungible token) project was underway. Some investors and traders saw the development as a potential catalyst for the stock.\nNFT is a single asset usually embedded in an object (like a video game skin, for example) and registered in a blockchain network. It is an encrypted digital record of a piece of art that can be bought, sold, and collected.\nThe news gained relevance after GameStop launched awebsiteabout NFT in the past few weeks. However, not much more information has been shared by the company so far.\nWhy NFT is relevant\nNFT is a form of CryptoArt. The art pieces can take the form of a logo, a phrase, a song, and are published directly into the blockchain.\nAlthough the CryptoArt market has been around for a while, it has gained more attention in 2021. The chart below shows that the CryptoArt market is already valued at $594 million, as more than 800,000 artwork pieces have been sold so far.\n\nBelow are some fun facts about CryptoArt:\n\nthe co-creator of the famous cartoon Ricky and Morty auctioned off a hand-drawn black and white piece of CryptoArt for $150,000;\nthe most expensive CryptoArt on record was sold for $69 million: Everydays, by artist Beeple;\nviral video “Charlie bit my finger” was turned into an NFT andsoldfor over $760,000 in June;\nthe CEO of Twitter sold his first tweet artwork for $2.9 million.\n\nCan GME benefit from NFTs?\nGameStop has not yet offered details about the launch of its NFT or its strategy around it. It is safe to say that the company would benefit from diversifying its business model, expanding further beyond gaming and the brick-and-mortar channel – and that it is probably looking to do so with digital art.\nThe company is currently pushing to turn its fortunes around. CEO George Sherman left the company after failing to meet his goals – not beforecashing insome of his GME shares at meme prices.\nOn the e-commerce front, GameStop has recently hired several former Amazon employees to improve the digital strategy. Billionaire Chewy co-founder and GameStop chairman Ryan Cohen seems to have the credentials to help overhaul GameStop’s operations, which has helped to keep meme mania alive.\nWill GameStop succeed at turning its business around? Only time will tell. In the meantime, the Reddit crowd seems to be paying close attention, in hopes that the stock can surge once again.\nTwitter speaks\nGameStop shares have been well off their June 9 levels, and about 50% below the late January top.

The cloud platform has been growing rapidly and has expanded its total addressable market to over $70 billion. Additionally, it plans to spread into other profitable areas apart from its traditional content delivery services. Moreover, NET stock’s 12-month returns are at a staggering 180%.
\n
Earnings in the past year have been nothing short of amazing, with double-digit growth in revenues for the past three quarters. Year-over-year revenue growth is at a healthy 51%, with forward estimates at 42%. As it looks to expand its product suite into large TAM areas such as cybersecurity and MPLS/SD-WAN, it will continue to post strong sales numbers for the foreseeable future.
\n
Shopify (SHOP)
\n
Shopify is a leading merchant platform that has consistently delivered for its long-term investors. With businesses having to close down during the pandemic, Shopify became a beacon of hope for small merchants starting their online businesses. As a result, its year-over-year revenue growth is dumbfounding 99.6%, which dwarfs its competition. Hence, with a wide moat and the ability to constantly evolve more than justifies SHOP stocks lofty valuation.
\n
2020 was another stellar year for the company, but it looks like it still has multiple chapters to write in its growth story. Its fulfillment center strategy is one of them, giving Amazon(NASDAQ:AMZN) a run for its money. Moreover, its Payments division and international markets are two major catalysts for future growth. The company expects to grow its revenues by $5 billion by 2023 and take a larger bite out of the e-commerce market.
\n
Square (SQ)
\n
Square has turned into a new-age financial services juggernaut. It has posted stellar growth rates, delivering monster quarterly results and outperforming its already high expectations. It continues to expand its distinct ecosystems, which includes its and Seller and Cash App. Both ecosystems exhibit a $160 billion addressable market opportunity collectively. Moreover, SQ stock has generated over 130% returns in the past 12-months.
\n
The Cash App platform has been a key driver of the company’s growth. Its monthly active users have grown by 50% to over 36 million in 2020. Through its Bitcoin(CCC:BTC-USD) functionalities and the impact of the Cash Card, it creates several monetization opportunities. Additionally, the re-opening of the U.S. and the worldwide economy will propel the stock further as more small and medium-sized enterprises regain their footing.
\n
Snap (SNAP)
\n
Social media giant Snap was in a tough spot a couple of years ago, as its user base stagnated considerably. However, it is now back in the game with improvements in monetization, augmented reality and unique content. Analysts point towards multiple years of double-digit revenue growth ahead, and its high long-term margin structure makes SNAP stock a highly attractive investment.
\n
Daily Active Users (DAUs) for the company increased on a year-over-year basisin each of the four quarters last year. The trend continued in the first quarter, where its DAUs grew by a healthy 22%. Moreover, revenues in the quarter were up 66% year-over-year to $170 million. It has multiple monetization avenues left to explore, including Maps, Spotlight, Stories and others. Hence, with forward revenue estimates of roughly 50%, the company is in pole position to deliver strong returns for the foreseeable future.
\n
Alibaba Group (BABA)
\n
Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba has been one of the fastest-growing companies in the past several years. In the past seven years, its business has grown at a spectacular 23.8% CAGR and is still growing at an impressive pace. Year-over-year revenue growth has been at a remarkable 41%, with forward estimates over 35%. Analysts believe that BABA stock could generate over 300% returns in the next five years.
\n
Alibaba has gone a great job of diversifying its income streams from its traditional retail business. Some of these include cloud computing, entertainment, digital media and others. Cloud computing, in particular, is an area where Alibaba will look to invest heavily in the coming years. The high-margin business will help narrow down its losses and open up new opportunities in adjacent areas.
\n
Etsy (ETSY)
\n
Etsy is an online niche marketplace with a wide and sustainable moat. It has witnessed massive growth during the pandemic, as its revenues increased by triple-digit percentages in the past four quarters. Its gross merchandise value (GMV) and revenues increased by roughly 106% and 111%, respectively, in 2020. Moreover, its EBITDA growth on a year-over-year basis is at a stunning 391%. No wonder ETSY stock has surged over 78% in the past 12 months.
\n
With last year’s blow-out performance, investors are worried about whether the company can continue its progress. Etsy is expanding its business through some smart acquisitions. It recently acquired Reverb and Depop to expand its music and fashion recommerce expertise. These acquisitions will also facilitate the company’s global outreach.Etsy posted a 141% year-over-year growth in its first quarter, which suggests that it isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
\n
Roku (ROKU)
\n
Streaming giant Roku has been on a roll in the past year, with its revenues and subscribers fueled by the pandemic. It gained an unbelievable 16.7 million new users during the pandemic and now has 53.6 million users. It is likely to achieve a record 65 million users by the conclusion of this year. Its CTV ad segment, in particular, could pay a lot of dividends with the gradual shift from linear to CTV. Moreover, it continues to invest heavily in its content library, with its recent launch of Roku Originals and its acquisition of Saban Films. Hence, it has an incredible growth runway ahead and should continue posting strong top and bottom-line numbers.
","source":"lsy1606302653667","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
7 Growth Stocks to Buy and Hold for a Golden Retirement
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n7 Growth Stocks to Buy and Hold for a Golden Retirement\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-28 17:39 GMT+8 InvestorPlace\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
These growth stocks to buy will add a ton of value to your retirement portfolio by providing a growing return on investment\nThe last thing any retiree would want to do is to sit around and fret about ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"SNAP":"Snap Inc","SHOP":"Shopify Inc","BABA":"阿里巴巴","NET":"Cloudflare, Inc.","SQ":"Block","ETSY":"Etsy, Inc.","ROKU":"Roku Inc"},"source_url":"https://investorplace.com/2021/06/7-great-growth-stocks-to-buy-and-hold-for-a-golden-retirement/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1103992527","content_text":"These growth stocks to buy will add a ton of value to your retirement portfolio by providing a growing return on investment\nThe last thing any retiree would want to do is to sit around and fret about their portfolio.
