policy tightening and Sino-U.S. tensions continued to weigh on the market.</p>\n<p>The blue-chip CSI300 index fell 0.8% to 5,123.49, while the Shanghai Composite Index ended down 0.8% at 3,446.86.</p>\n<p>For the week, CSI300 slipped 0.2%, while SSEC dropped 0.8%.</p>\n<p>China's factory activity expanded at a slower pace and missed forecasts in April as supply bottlenecks and rising costs weighed on production and overseas demand lost momentum.</p>\n<p>Despite the soft data, analysts and traders said overall solid economic growth allowed Beijing more leeway to rein in bubbles in its financial markets.</p>\n<p>China's economic recovery quickened sharply in the first quarter with record growth of 18.3%, shaking off the hit from last year's slump.</p>\n<p>Caution also prevailed ahead of the Labor Day break, as the country's financial markets will be shut during May 1 and May 5.</p>\n<p>A record-breaking wave of Chinese tourists will hit the road for the Labour Day break, and with borders still shut many will be travelling domestically, to more remote locations and for longer, giving China's economy a powerful short-term boost.</p>\n<p>\"People are still worried about China's monetary policy, and the market remains pessimistic given the current monetary conditions,\" said Song Zhenyu, a fund manager at Beijing Jiayi Asset Management Company.</p>\n<p>Song said any economic growth allowed Beijing more leeway to rein in bubbles in its financial markets.</p>\n<p>China's economic recovery quickened sharply in the first quarter with record growth of 18.3%, shaking Stocks might have taken a back seat to housing, oil, gold, or other assets for brief periods of time over the past century, but they've delivered the highest consistent returns of any investment vehicle.</p><p>That is until cryptocurrencies came along a little over a decade ago.</p><p>The emergence of <b>Bitcoin</b> (CRYPTO:BTC), <b>Ethereum</b> (CRYPTO:ETH), <b>Dogecoin</b> (CRYPTO:DOGE), and a host of other digital currencies have paved the way for once-in-a-lifetime gains. For instance, a $155 investment in Bitcoin at $1 would have been worth over $1 million when it hit $64,800 a token in mid-April.</p><p>But over the past two weeks, cryptocurrencies have fallen off a cliff. Some would call this a natural pullback after a monstrous run higher. I have a different name for it: a popping bubble.</p><p>While there is no shortage of enthusiasts who believe digital currencies are the greatest thing since sliced bread, I believe the crypto market is imploding for 10 very good reasons.</p><p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/08bd510be5ae746f0867c5de1184417a\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"464\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"></p><p>Image source: Getty Images.</p><p>1. There's very minimal real-world utility</p><p>One of the biggest drawbacks of digital currency is that it's virtually useless outside a cryptocurrency exchange. Although we've seen a small number of high-profile companies or organizations accept Bitcoin or Dogecoin, the reality is that the total number of businesses accepting either is microscopic. Approximately 1,300 businesses globally have chosen to accept Dogecoin after eight years, while Fundera found that 15,174 businesses accept Bitcoin, as of December 2020. For some context here, there are an estimated 582 million entrepreneurs worldwide.</p><p>2. Valuations, relative to transaction data, made no sense</p><p>Even though valuation is somewhat subjective, <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> glance at transaction data for the three most popular cryptocurrencies, relative to payment processing juggernauts such as <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/V\">Visa</a></b> (NYSE:V) and <b>Mastercard</b> (NYSE:MA), would leave anyone's jaw on the floor.</p><p>The latest Nilson report found that 1.01 billion credit transactions were processed daily in 2018, 700 million of which were handled by Visa and Mastercard. By comparison, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Dogecoin are processing in the neighborhood of 300,000, 1.4 million, and 50,000 respective transactions on their blockchains each day. All the major cryptos combined can't hold a candle to the processing potential of Visa or Mastercard, yet the Big Three of crypto have a higher combined market value than Visa and Mastercard. That makes no sense.</p><p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/ce89a01a16c15dafb27017a6a42cedc3\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"496\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"></p><p>Image source: Getty Images.</p><p>3. Businesses have been slow to adopt blockchain</p><p>On paper, blockchain sounds great. On the financial side of the equation, it's a way to expedite the validation and settlement of payments. Rather than waiting up to a week for cross-border payments to settle, they could be resolved in mere seconds or minutes. Blockchain also has nonfinancial applications. Ethereum's smart contract-driven blockchain might be the key to one day unlocking supply chain bottlenecks.</p><p>However, what sounds great on paper doesn't always translate into real-world success. Blockchain continues to suffer from a Catch-22. Businesses won't adopt it till the technology is proven on a broad scale, but no businesses will abandon their existing (and proven) infrastructure to effectively be the guinea pig. Until blockchain matures, big business will keep its distance.</p><p>4. There's virtually no barrier to entry</p><p>Aside from minimal utility, my biggest personal gripe with crypto is there's no barrier to entry. Anyone with the time to code can develop a blockchain and, potentially, a tethered token. According to CoinMarketCap, there are almost 10,000 different cryptocurrencies in its system. While many aren't trading much, if at all, that's an insane number of potential competitors to Bitcoin, Dogecoin, and Ethereum, with the likelihood of many more to come.</p><p>In short, the crypto space is constantly being diluted by an unlimited amount of competition.</p><p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/614d7f34734e33d740f7f9c02ed3f8fd\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"></p><p>Image source: Getty Images.</p><p>5. Centralization remains a problem</p><p>One of the many goals of cryptocurrencies is decentralization. This is to ensure that no one person or small group of people controls a network. Yet according to data from BitInfoCharts.com, ownership in Bitcoin and Dogecoin is fairly centralized. Just 2,155 addresses own almost 42% of all Bitcoin, while 66.6% of all outstanding Dogecoin is owned by only 99 addresses. It's possible folks are waking up to the fact that these financial experiments aren't as decentralized as they were intended to be.</p><p>6. Elon Musk is tugging at heartstrings</p><p>Another reason the crypto bubble is bursting is that it's been artificially driven by tweets from <b>Tesla</b>&nbsp;CEO Elon Musk.</p><p>At first, Musk was all aboard the Bitcoin train. He purchased $1.5 billion Bitcoin for Tesla's balance sheet in February and announced that the company would begin accepting Bitcoin for electric vehicle purchases a month later. Then, after 49 days, he tweeted that Tesla would no longer accept Bitcoin because of the adverse environmental impacts of mining it. He's since turned his attention to Dogecoin.</p><p>The fact that tweets with little or no substance are creating and erasing hundreds of billions of dollars in crypto market value would seem to indicate that a bubble has been brewing for some time.</p><p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/4c7f03bc8a60bee0f293f0582f185505\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"474\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"></p><p>Image source: Getty Images.</p><p>7. Not all governments are OK with crypto</p><p>The crypto bubble is also popping because some governments aren't OK with allowing cryptocurrencies to undermine their own central bank-backed currencies. Last week, China sent the crypto market into a tailspin after prohibiting banks and online payment channels in the country from offering any services related to the cryptocurrency industry. It should be noted that a lot of Bitcoin mining occurs in China.</p><p>And China's far from alone. Turkey recently enacted a ban on crypto payments. Meanwhile, countries including Bolivia, Ecuador, Nigeria, and Algeria have effectively banned digital currencies. This trend makes the global use case for crypto unlikely.</p><p>8. There are no identifiable real-world correlations</p><p>Yet another issue with crypto is there are no readily identifiable real-world correlations.</p><p>For example, we know that gold and the U.S. dollar have an inverse relationship to one another. When the dollar is declining in value, gold is very likely rising in value. This is a correlation that's been established over a long period of time.</p><p>Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Dogecoin don't have these correlations. Enthusiasts like to point out how crypto is a hedge against inflation, but they forget that Bitcoin has both risen and fallen when the money supply expanded rapidly or slowly. Crypto is driven by emotion and technical analysis, primarily because it has no real-world correlations.</p><p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b04ade705354c4825038c4dfcd0187d9\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"500\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"></p><p>Image source: Getty Images.</p><p>9. Leverage is haunting the crypto market</p><p>The cryptocurrency implosion can also be blamed on investors who are over-levered. Some of the most popular crypto exchanges will allow customers to use 50 to 125 times leverage on their actual account equity. While this isn't an uncommon amount of leverage in forex, where currencies move in fractions of a cent, it's absolutely ludicrous for crypto, which can move 3% in the blink of an eye.</p><p>According to data from Bybt.com, via Bloomberg, over 887,000 accounts totaling $9.4 billion in aggregate crypto assets were liquidated as a result of leverage-based margin calls on May 19. Because of this insane leverage, it doesn't take much for things to go south quickly for the crypto market.</p><p>10. Investors always overhype new tech</p><p>Finally, investors frequently overestimate the adoption of new technology. Though there is no shortage of people hyped up about blockchain, it's been more than a half-decade and the blockchain buzz hasn't materialized into meaningful enterprise usage. Valuations, relative to transaction data, made no senseEven though valuation is somewhat subjective, one glance at transaction data for the three most popular cryptocurrencies, relative to payment processing juggernauts such as Visa (NYSE:V) and Mastercard (NYSE:MA), would leave anyone's jaw on the floor.The latest Nilson report found that 1.01 billion credit transactions were processed daily in 2018, 700 million of which were handled by Visa and Mastercard. By comparison, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Dogecoin are processing in the neighborhood of 300,000, 1.4 million, and 50,000 respective transactions on their blockchains each day. All the major cryptos combined can't hold a candle to the processing potential of Visa or Mastercard, yet the Big Three of crypto have a higher combined market value than Visa and Mastercard. That makes no sense.Image source: Getty Images.3. Businesses have been slow to adopt blockchainOn paper, blockchain sounds great. On the financial side of the equation, it's a way to expedite the validation and settlement of payments. Rather than waiting up to a week for cross-border payments to settle, they could be resolved in mere seconds or minutes. Blockchain also has nonfinancial applications. Ethereum's smart contract-driven blockchain might be the key to one day unlocking supply chain bottlenecks.However, what sounds great on paper doesn't always translate into real-world success. Blockchain continues to suffer from a Catch-22. Businesses won't adopt it till the technology is proven on a broad scale, but no businesses will abandon their existing (and proven) infrastructure to effectively be the guinea pig. Until blockchain matures, big business will keep its distance.4. There's virtually no barrier to entryAside from minimal utility, my biggest personal gripe with crypto is there's no barrier to entry. Anyone with the time to code can develop a blockchain and, potentially, a tethered token. According to CoinMarketCap, there are almost 10,000 different cryptocurrencies in its system. While many aren't trading much, if at all, that's an insane number of potential competitors to Bitcoin, Dogecoin, and Ethereum, with the likelihood of many more to come.In short, the crypto space is constantly being diluted by an unlimited amount of competition.Image source: Getty Images.5. Centralization remains a problemOne of the many goals of cryptocurrencies is decentralization. This is to ensure that no one person or small group of people controls a network. Yet according to data from BitInfoCharts.com, ownership in Bitcoin and Dogecoin is fairly centralized. Just 2,155 addresses own almost 42% of all Bitcoin, while 66.6% of all outstanding Dogecoin is owned by only 99 addresses. It's possible folks are waking up to the fact that these financial experiments aren't as decentralized as they were intended to be.6. Elon Musk is tugging at heartstringsAnother reason the crypto bubble is bursting is that it's been artificially driven by tweets from Tesla CEO Elon Musk.At first, Musk was all aboard the Bitcoin train. He purchased $1.5 billion Bitcoin for Tesla's balance sheet in February and announced that the company would begin accepting Bitcoin for electric vehicle purchases a month later. Then, after 49 days, he tweeted that Tesla would no longer accept Bitcoin because of the adverse environmental impacts of mining it. He's since turned his attention to Dogecoin.The fact that tweets with little or no substance are creating and erasing hundreds of billions of dollars in crypto market value would seem to indicate that a bubble has been brewing for some time.Image source: Getty Images.7. Not all governments are OK with cryptoThe crypto bubble is also popping because some governments aren't OK with allowing cryptocurrencies to undermine their own central bank-backed currencies. Last week, China sent the crypto market into a tailspin after prohibiting banks and online payment channels in the country from offering any services related to the cryptocurrency industry. It should be noted that a lot of Bitcoin mining occurs in China.And China's far from alone. Turkey recently enacted a ban on crypto payments. Meanwhile, countries including Bolivia, Ecuador, Nigeria, and Algeria have effectively banned digital currencies. This trend makes the global use case for crypto unlikely.8. There are no identifiable real-world correlationsYet another issue with crypto is there are no readily identifiable real-world correlations.For example, we know that gold and the U.S. dollar have an inverse relationship to one another. When the dollar is declining in value, gold is very likely rising in value. This is a correlation that's been established over a long period of time.Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Dogecoin don't have these correlations. Enthusiasts like to point out how crypto is a hedge against inflation, but they forget that Bitcoin has both risen and fallen when the money supply expanded rapidly or slowly. Leverage is haunting the crypto marketThe cryptocurrency implosion can also be blamed on investors who are over-levered. Some of the most popular crypto exchanges will allow customers to use 50 to 125 times leverage on their actual account equity. While this isn't an uncommon amount of leverage in forex, where currencies move in fractions of a cent, it's absolutely ludicrous for crypto, which can move 3% in the blink of an eye.According to data from Bybt.com, via Bloomberg, over 887,000 accounts totaling $9.4 billion in aggregate crypto assets were liquidated as a result of leverage-based margin calls on May 19. Because of this insane leverage, it doesn't take much for things to go south quickly for the crypto market.10. Investors always overhype new techFinally, investors frequently overestimate the adoption of new technology. Though there is no shortage of people hyped up about blockchain, it's been more than a half-decade and the blockchain buzz hasn't materialized into meaningful enterprise usage. According to the latest data&nbsp;from Steam Hardware Survey for April, AMD now controls almost 29.5% of the PC CPU space. It controlled 25% of the market in December 2020, with Intel holding the rest. Steam data is a credible source for PC market share information, as the platform is used by 120 million monthly active users worldwide.</p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Mercury Research estimates that AMD's desktop PC market share increased to 19.3% at the end of the first quarter, up from just 11.4% four years ago. It also holds 18% of the mobile CPU market. AMD's CPU market share is expected to&nbsp;jump as high as 50%&nbsp;in 2021 as per Wall Street. This doesn't seem surprising given thetechnology advantage&nbsp;AMD enjoys over Intel, as well as&nbsp;Chipzilla's troubles&nbsp;with getting its latest chips out of the gate.</p>\n<p>AMD has also turned on the heat in the laptop market. The company's Ryzen 5000 mobile processors are expected to&nbsp;power 50% more models&nbsp;this year and pave the way for more market share gains.</p>\n<p>Meanwhile, AMD has made solid progress in the server processor market, finishing Q1 with an 8.9% share. It was nowhere to be seen in server processors four years ago, but the&nbsp;arrival of the EPYC chips&nbsp;has given it a big shot in the arm. AMD is poised to&nbsp;take away more market share&nbsp;from Intel in servers in the coming years and could make billions of dollars from this space.</p>\n<p>On the other hand, the arrival of the latest gaming consoles from&nbsp;<b>Sony</b>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<b>Microsoft</b>&nbsp;that are powered by AMD's chips is&nbsp;moving the needle in a big way&nbsp;for the chipmaker. The PlayStation 5 has sold 7.8 million units so far. It is expected&nbsp;to sell over 200 million units over its lifetime, according to an analyst at Japanese firm Rakuten Securities, as compared to 116 million units of the previous generation PS4.</p>\n<p>What's more, AMD is reportedly getting&nbsp;80% more revenue from each unit of the PS5 over the PS4. So, a combination of higher shipments and stronger revenue from each gaming console should unlock a massive revenue opportunity for the company in the long run. Not surprisingly, analysts expect&nbsp;AMD to deliver almost 30% annual earnings growth over the next five years -- making it a&nbsp;top growth stock&nbsp;where one can park $5,000 right now, given that it is trading at less than 28 times&nbsp;forward earnings.</p>\n<p><b>2. NVIDIA</b></p>\n<p>NVIDIA has come a long way in the past five years. The chipmaker has&nbsp;branched out into&nbsp;several fast-growing applications such as data centers, artificial intelligence, autonomous cars, and&nbsp;5G wireless networks&nbsp;from supplying graphics cards for gaming PCs.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/60ad2c7070e39d4c3cca24654ff15c3d\" tg-width=\"720\" tg-height=\"387\"><span>NVDA DATA BY YCHARTS</span></p>\n<p>Gaming continues to be NVIDIA's biggest source of revenue, accounting for 46% of its top line last fiscal year. The segment's revenue was up 41% in fiscal 2021 to $7.7 billion, thanks to the launch of NVIDIA's new RTX 30 series graphics cards, which have set the sales charts on fire by triggering a&nbsp;massive upgrade cycle.</p>\n<p>NVIDIA estimates that 85% of its installed base is yet to upgrade to the RTX series cards, which pack a&nbsp;huge performance bump&nbsp;at aggressive price points over prior generation cards. That's a huge opportunity, as NVIDIA's installed base of gaming graphics cards&nbsp;stands at 140 million. More importantly, the company's new GPUs are driving an increase in the average selling price (ASP).</p>\n<p>The latest Ampere-based GPUs recorded&nbsp;an ASP of $360 in the first six months of their launch thanks to an increase in the proportion of customers buying higher-priced cards. Jon Peddie Research estimates&nbsp;that 41.5 million discrete GPUs were sold in 2020, and NVIDIA&nbsp;dominated this market&nbsp;with a share of 82% at the end of the year. This bodes well for NVIDIA's future, as the GPU market is expected to clock annual growth of nearly 34% through 2027 as per third-party&nbsp;estimates.</p>\n<p>Beyond gaming, NVIDIA is sitting on huge opportunities in nascent markets such as self-driving cars. The company has struck several partnerships in this space and has already lined up automotive design wins&nbsp;worth $8 billion&nbsp;for the next five years. This figure could keep growing thanks to NVIDIA's solid product roadmap, which indicates that it is working on more powerful self-driving platforms that should hit the market in the coming years.</p>\n<p>Throw in the fact that NVIDIA's terrific growth in the data center market won't be fading any time soon, and investors will have one more reason to hold on to this tech titan. The data center business generated $6.7 billion in revenue in FY21, up 124% year over year. It accounted for 40% of the total revenue. NVIDIA is now branching out into new areas to ensure that this business keeps growing at elevated rates.</p>\n<p>It recently announced&nbsp;the Grace CPU, a server processor that's expected to go on sale in 2023. This would be new territory for NVIDIA, and success here could supercharge the company's data center business, as the server processor market is expected to be worth $19 billion&nbsp;by 2023.</p>\n<p>So, NVIDIA still has a lot of room for growth. Analysts forecast 20%-plus annual earnings growth for the next five years, though NVIDIA could do better if the new opportunities it is attacking bear fruit. a fourth straight session on Wednesday as sentiment took a knock from a selloff in large cap Wall Street tech darlings, combined with talk of rising U.S. interest rates.</p><p>   Holidays in Japan, China and South Korea limited the early reaction, leaving MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan    dithering either side of flat. </p><p>   Japan's Nikkei    was shut, but futures traded down at 28,735    compared to the last cash close of 28,812.</p><p>   Nasdaq futures    steadied after a sharp pullback overnight, while S&amp;P 500 futures    inched up 0.1%.</p><p>   The Nasdaq had dropped 1.9% on Tuesday as some big tech names ran into profit-taking, including Microsoft Corp   , Alphabet Inc   , Apple Inc    and Amazon.com Inc</p><p> .   </p><p>   Stretched valuations were tested when U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said rate hikes may be needed to stop the economy overheating.  </p><p>   She later waked back the comments, but it reminded investors that rates would have to rise at some point in the future.</p><p>   \"Moderate inflation and a slow moving Fed would continue to be supportive, but inflation and a reactive Fed may prove to be a negative for valuations,\" said Tapas Strickland, a director of economics at NAB.</p><p>   \"Either way yields and equities are likely to be in a dance as much better than expected economic data continues to challenge central banks' rates guidance.\"</p><p>   One such challenge looms on Friday when U.S. payrolls data are forecast to show a hefty rise of 978,000, while some estimates go as high as 2.1 million.</p><p>   So far, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell has argued the labour market is still far short of where it needs to be to start talking of tapering asset buying.</p><p>   Minneapolis Fed Bank President Neel Kashkari, a notable dove, on Tuesday said it may take a few years for the economy to get back to full employment.  </p><p>   The Fed's dogged patience allowed yields on U.S. 10-year notes    to ease back to 1.59%, from last week's top of 1.69%, though the market has struggled to break below 1.53%.</p><p>   Just the mention of higher U.S. rates was enough to help the dollar recoup a little of its recent losses.</p><p>   The euro dropped back to $1.2015    and threatened to breach important chart support in the $1.1995/1.2000 area. A break would open the way to a retracement target at $1.1923.</p><p>   The dollar was a shade firmer on the yen at 109.36   , but faces resistance at 109.61.
