This is more a relief rally than anything else.
\n
Sea has been dragged down along with other high-octane growth stocks since news of the omicron variant hit a month ago. Even after today's pop, Sea stock is down some 30% in the last month, erasing what was up until November a nearly 80% year-to-date return in 2021.
\n
So what
\n
It's not surprising that Sea has been volatile as of late. The company's fast growth is undeniable, riding the wave of fast digitization of the economies of Southeast Asia. More recent expansion into new markets like South America and Eastern Europe are also promising.
\n
However, that growth comes at a cost. Sea uses profits from its video game segment (its marquee game Free Fire) to fuel its e-commerce and digital financial-services divisions -- both of which are currently very unprofitable. The result? A growth stock with lots of potentials, but susceptible to wild swings up and down as investors assess the trajectory of future sales and the eventual payoff for this emerging-markets technologist.
\n
Now what
\n
Here's the good news: While Sea has taken a page from the Amazon playbook and is dumping excess cash back into operations to focus on expansion, there are early signs of eventual bottom-line black ink. As measured by free cash flow, Sea actually swung to a profit this year.
\n
The company generated $342 million in the last trailing-12-month stretch on revenue of $8.3 billion. That's hardly what would be considered a robust profit margin by most value-oriented investors, but it's a solid start for this young company.
\n
But don't worry right now. If long-term growth is what you're after and you can stomach the roller-coaster ride that is Sea, this company is amply funded to continue spending heavily. The company had $11.8 billion in cash and short-term investments on hand at the end of September, offset by convertible debt of just $3.5 billion. At under 14 times trailing 12-month revenue, Sea stock could be a great long-term deal (think at least a few years, but the more the better) headed into 2022.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":597,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":606245841,"gmtCreate":1638888749993,"gmtModify":1638888750083,"author":{"id":"3582281917582725","authorId":"3582281917582725","name":"NGKH","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/5199281925fe86e7eaed99d7ef560a4c","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582281917582725","authorIdStr":"3582281917582725"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice ","listText":"Nice ","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/606245841","repostId":"1151117039","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1151117039","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1638888025,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1151117039?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-12-07 22:40","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Rivian shares bucked the trend and fell more than 1%","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1151117039","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Rivian shares bucked the trend and fell more than 1% as Ford could sell down Rivian stake to fuel it","content":"
Rivian shares bucked the trend and fell more than 1% as Ford could sell down Rivian stake to fuel its business, RBC said.
\n

\n
Analysts at RBC Capital on Monday raised their price target on Ford Motor Co. stock to $21, from $17, saying they continue to see upside for the auto maker. And its consolation prize is uncertain.
\n
U.S. antitrust officials sued to block the takeover on Thursday, arguing it will stifle innovation in the chip industry. Nvidia has vowed to press ahead, but the transaction also faces reviews from U.K., European Union and Chinese regulators -- as well as opposition from Arm’s own customers -- and Wall Street analysts are all but calling the deal dead.
\n
That leaves SoftBank in a quandary. Nvidia had agreed to buy the business for about $40 billion in September 2020, and a subsequent surge in the bidder’s stock price increased the potential payday by tens of billions of dollars. Other suitors are unlikely to match such an offer and might spark their own regulatory concerns.
\n
So SoftBank’s best alternative may well be an initial public offering for the Arm business -- but that is likely to value the company at far less than Nvidia’s offer.
\n
“Nvidia’s share price has climbed a lot since the announcement and would have implied a very good price for Arm,” said Mio Kato, an analyst at LightStream Research in Tokyo. “I don’t think Arm is worth anywhere near what SoftBank thinks it is, so I think the most realistic option is an IPO.”
\n
SoftBank and Arm are entitled to keep $2 billion Nvidia paid at signing, including a $1.25 billion breakup fee, whether the deal goes through or not.
\n

\n
A representative for Tokyo-based SoftBank declined to comment.
\n
Arm is a prized asset in the chip industry. It licenses technology to hundreds of companies, and its technology is used in devices ranging from smartphones to factory equipment and cars, acting as a neutral party. But that role also makes Arm a difficult asset to sell. Its customers want the business to stay independent -- something they fear won’t be possible under Nvidia ownership.
\n
But pursuing an IPO has its own risks. It’s hard to say how investors would value the Arm business. On average, members of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange Semiconductor Index have a market-capitalization-to-sales ratio of 9.9 times. Using that ratio, with annual sales of about $2.5 billion, Arm would be worth $19.8 billion -- only about 27% the value of the $74 billion Nvidia deal.
\n
If it’s valued at Nvidia’s index-leading 32 times, Arm would be worth almost $81 billion. But that’s a long shot considering Nvidia is currently the star of the semiconductor industry. Sales are booming, its stock has soared 146% this year, and it’s eclipsed the likes of Intel Corp. as the world’s most valuable chipmaker.
\n
When the Arm deal was announced on Sept. 14, 2020, Nvidia’s stock made up $21.5 billion of the $40 billion transaction. The purchase also included $12 billion in cash and as much as $5 billion more if the business hit certain financial targets, as well as $1.5 billion in Nvidia shares for Arm employees.
\n
After Nvidia’s run-up, the stock portion of the deal is now worth more alone -- roughly $57 billion -- than the entire initial transaction.
\n
SoftBank bought U.K.-based Arm in 2016 for $31 billion, and the Nvidia deal would bring a handsome return at a time when it’s facing setbacks elsewhere, such as China.
\n
As recently as last month, SoftBank was upbeat that the deal would close.
\n
“I can’t promise,” SoftBank founder and Chief Executive Officer Masayoshi Son said during a conference call in November. But he said he believed the approval process would be “successful.”
\n
The outlook darkened considerably Thursday. According to Citibank analysts, the chances of the Nvidia purchase closing are now just 5%, down from their earlier estimate of 50%.
\n
“SoftBank will have to start the process for a sale from scratch,” said Koji Hirai, a mergers-and-acquisition banker in Tokyo.
\n
If SoftBank does pursue an IPO for Arm, getting the timing right may be difficult. For now, the sun is shining on the chip industry. And its consolation prize is uncertain.\nU.S. antitrust officials sued to block the takeover on Thursday, arguing it will stifle innovation in the chip industry. Nvidia has vowed to press ahead, but the transaction also faces reviews from U.K., European Union and Chinese regulators -- as well as opposition from Arm’s own customers -- and Wall Street analysts are all but calling the deal dead.\nThat leaves SoftBank in a quandary. Nvidia had agreed to buy the business for about $40 billion in September 2020, and a subsequent surge in the bidder’s stock price increased the potential payday by tens of billions of dollars. Other suitors are unlikely to match such an offer and might spark their own regulatory concerns.\nSo SoftBank’s best alternative may well be an initial public offering for the Arm business -- but that is likely to value the company at far less than Nvidia’s offer.\n“Nvidia’s share price has climbed a lot since the announcement and would have implied a very good price for Arm,” said Mio Kato, an analyst at LightStream Research in Tokyo. “I don’t think Arm is worth anywhere near what SoftBank thinks it is, so I think the most realistic option is an IPO.”\nSoftBank and Arm are entitled to keep $2 billion Nvidia paid at signing, including a $1.25 billion breakup fee, whether the deal goes through or not.\n\nA representative for Tokyo-based SoftBank declined to comment.\nArm is a prized asset in the chip industry. It licenses technology to hundreds of companies, and its technology is used in devices ranging from smartphones to factory equipment and cars, acting as a neutral party. But that role also makes Arm a difficult asset to sell. Its customers want the business to stay independent -- something they fear won’t be possible under Nvidia ownership.\nBut pursuing an IPO has its own risks. It’s hard to say how investors would value the Arm business. On average, members of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange Semiconductor Index have a market-capitalization-to-sales ratio of 9.9 times. Using that ratio, with annual sales of about $2.5 billion, Arm would be worth $19.8 billion -- only about 27% the value of the $74 billion Nvidia deal.\nIf it’s valued at Nvidia’s index-leading 32 times, Arm would be worth almost $81 billion. But that’s a long shot considering Nvidia is currently the star of the semiconductor industry. Sales are booming, its stock has soared 146% this year, and it’s eclipsed the likes of Intel Corp. as the world’s most valuable chipmaker.\nWhen the Arm deal was announced on Sept. 14, 2020, Nvidia’s stock made up $21.5 billion of the $40 billion transaction. The purchase also included $12 billion in cash and as much as $5 billion more if the business hit certain financial targets, as well as $1.5 billion in Nvidia shares for Arm employees.\nAfter Nvidia’s run-up, the stock portion of the deal is now worth more alone -- roughly $57 billion -- than the entire initial transaction.\nSoftBank bought U.K.-based Arm in 2016 for $31 billion, and the Nvidia deal would bring a handsome return at a time when it’s facing setbacks elsewhere, such as China.\nAs recently as last month, SoftBank was upbeat that the deal would close.\n“I can’t promise,” SoftBank founder and Chief Executive Officer Masayoshi Son said during a conference call in November. But he said he believed the approval process would be “successful.”\nThe outlook darkened considerably Thursday. According to Citibank analysts, the chances of the Nvidia purchase closing are now just 5%, down from their earlier estimate of 50%.\n“SoftBank will have to start the process for a sale from scratch,” said Koji Hirai, a mergers-and-acquisition banker in Tokyo.\nIf SoftBank does pursue an IPO for Arm, getting the timing right may be difficult. For now, the sun is shining on the chip industry. Global shortages have put the value of chips in the spotlight, sending the Philadelphia semiconductor index up 36% this year -- well ahead of the S&P 500’s 22% gain.\nBut some analysts are concerned the stocks are near peak valuation. A delay of months while the regulatory process drags on may deprive SoftBank of the opportunity to get the highest value for Arm in the public markets.\nThe key question is whether the explosion in data centers, online services and smart devices will extend the rally, letting chipmakers avoid the boom-and-bust cycles of the past. Given Arm’s vital role at the center of it all, Nvidia’s hefty price may not be that high after all, said Matt Bryson, an analyst at Wedbush Securities.\n“You could make an argument that SoftBank may be able to do better than that,” he said.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":934,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":601254582,"gmtCreate":1638538774234,"gmtModify":1638538774324,"author":{"id":"3582281917582725","authorId":"3582281917582725","name":"NGKH","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/5199281925fe86e7eaed99d7ef560a4c","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582281917582725","authorIdStr":"3582281917582725"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"👍🏻","listText":"👍🏻","text":"👍🏻","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/601254582","repostId":"2188854525","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2188854525","pubTimestamp":1638536261,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2188854525?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-12-03 20:57","market":"us","language":"en","title":"'The bond market is not yet prepared' -- here's what a Wall Street veteran fears","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2188854525","media":"MarketWatch","summary":"As the signals from the Federal Reserve become louder and louder that interest rates will be hiked n","content":"
As the signals from the Federal Reserve become louder and louder that interest rates will be hiked next year, the question for markets becomes less about when and more about, how high.
\n
Nearly every rate-hike cycle since the 1970s has resulted in successively lower peaks. Even more surprising is that those subscriptions also work in the main Netflix video streaming app,” Gurman wrote in his weekly newsletter.
\n
Gurman said that this is a signal that tensions between Apple and Netflix “seem to be cooling.”
\n
Why It Matters:The development surrounding in-app payments is notable, according to Gurman, because Netflix stopped letting its customers subscribe through Apple’s service in 2018.
\n
“Now it’s providing a new way to sign up that lets Apple take a cut again,” said Gurman.
\n
Netflix has yet to reinstate in-app purchases through its main app. Gurman said he does not anticipate that happening, terming the games concession a “major change.”
\n
“I’m curious to see what this is a precursor to. Even more surprising is that those subscriptions also work in the main Netflix video streaming app,” Gurman wrote in his weekly newsletter.\nGurman said that this is a signal that tensions between Apple and Netflix “seem to be cooling.”\nWhy It Matters:The development surrounding in-app payments is notable, according to Gurman, because Netflix stopped letting its customers subscribe through Apple’s service in 2018.\n“Now it’s providing a new way to sign up that lets Apple take a cut again,” said Gurman.\nNetflix has yet to reinstate in-app purchases through its main app. Gurman said he does not anticipate that happening, terming the games concession a “major change.”\n“I’m curious to see what this is a precursor to. Perhaps Netflix will ask Apple for an exemption to the ban on all-in-one gaming apps, letting the streaming giant provide a more streamlined offering to its customers.”\nLast week, Netflix launched 5 games for iPhone and iPad users through an app available on the App Store marketplace.\nGurman noted last week that the Tim Cook-led company was a roadblock in Netflixachieving success in gaming as it ultimately will have to transition the gaming service to a cloud-based one. However, several factors likely contributed to its sharp upwards move.
\n
Stock trading volumes tend to be lower during the final week of the year, so price movements can be more severe than at times when more shares are traded. Additionally, traders often are more bullish during this time, as they seek to profit from the so-called Santa Claus rally. The stock markets have historically performed well during the five days after Christmas and the first two days of the new year.
\n
This bullishness may have led investors to take a more positive view of Rivian and other growth stocks, many of which have seen their share prices decline sharply in recent weeks.
\n
Now what
\n
Rivian's future appears particularly bright. The EV maker is enjoying surging demand for its vehicles. Preorders for its R1T pickup truck rose from approximately 48,000 at the end of the third quarter to 71,000 by Dec. 15.
\n
To meet this demand, Rivian is rapidly expanding its manufacturing network. The company is investing $5 billion to build a new plant in Georgia. However, several factors likely contributed to its sharp upwards move.\nStock trading volumes tend to be lower during the final week of the year, so price movements can be more severe than at times when more shares are traded. Additionally, traders often are more bullish during this time, as they seek to profit from the so-called Santa Claus rally. The stock markets have historically performed well during the five days after Christmas and the first two days of the new year.\nThis bullishness may have led investors to take a more positive view of Rivian and other growth stocks, many of which have seen their share prices decline sharply in recent weeks.\nNow what\nRivian's future appears particularly bright. The EV maker is enjoying surging demand for its vehicles. Preorders for its R1T pickup truck rose from approximately 48,000 at the end of the third quarter to 71,000 by Dec. 15.\nTo meet this demand, Rivian is rapidly expanding its manufacturing network. The company is investing $5 billion to build a new plant in Georgia. The facility is forecasted to assemble as many as 400,000 vehicles annually at peak output, with production anticipated to start in 2024.\nRivian also has valuable backing from Amazon.com(NASDAQ:AMZN). The e-commerce juggernaut owns roughly 20% of the EV upstart's shares.
At under 14 times trailing 12-month revenue, Sea stock could be a great long-term deal (think at least a few years, but the more the better) headed into 2022.
\n

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Why Sea Limited Stock Popped 10.82% Higher Today
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nWhy Sea Limited Stock Popped 10.82% Higher Today\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-12-22 11:33 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
What happened\nShares of e-commerce giant Sea Limited(NYSE:SE)were up 10.82% today. That's hardly what would be considered a robust profit margin by most value-oriented investors, but it's a solid start for this young company.\nBut don't worry right now. If long-term growth is what you're after and you can stomach the roller-coaster ride that is Sea, this company is amply funded to continue spending heavily. The company had $11.8 billion in cash and short-term investments on hand at the end of September, offset by convertible debt of just $3.5 billion. At under 14 times trailing 12-month revenue, Sea stock could be a great long-term deal (think at least a few years, but the more the better) headed into 2022.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":597,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":600540766,"gmtCreate":1638178542212,"gmtModify":1638179119452,"author":{"id":"3582281917582725","authorId":"3582281917582725","name":"NGKH","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/5199281925fe86e7eaed99d7ef560a4c","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582281917582725","authorIdStr":"3582281917582725"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Great","listText":"Great","text":"Great","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/600540766","repostId":"1143786111","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1143786111","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing
