Gross margin only turned positive in 2020 and is expected to be 19.3% in 2021. EBITDA is expected to be negative $258 million in 2021 and a positive $206 million in 2022. Free cash flow is expected to be negative $42 million in 2021 before turning to a positive $354 million in 2022.</p>\n<p>However, despite the cash burn expected in 2021, investors should feel at ease since the company exited 2020 with $5.9 billion of cash and cash equivalents. The injected vaccine then stimulates the immune system to produce antibodies and T-cell immune responses.</p>\n<p><b>The Vaccine Doses:</b> The vaccines from each of the three companies require two doses. Each dose consists of 30 mcg for Pfizer and 100 mcg for Moderna, while for Novavax, each vaccine dose consists of 5 mcg of NVX-CoV2371 and 50 mcg of Matrix-M1 adjuvant that are co-formulated.</p>\n<p>The interval between the two doses — the priming and booster dose — is 21 days each for Pfizer and Novavax and 28 days for Moderna.</p>\n<p><b>The Target Population:</b> The original late-stage trial of Pfizer-BioNTech evaluated the vaccine in participants ages 16 years and older. The trial enrolled 43,448 participants.</p>\n<p>Moderna'sPhase 3 COVE study enrolled 30,000 participants ages 18 years and up.</p>\n<p>Since then, these two companies have obtained authorizations for their respective vaccines to be used in adolescents.</p>\n<p>Bothcompanieshave also initiated studies in the pediatric population.</p>\n<p>Novavax's study enrolled 29,960 participants 18 years of age and older across 119 sites in the U.S. and Mexico. The placebo-controlled portion of PREVENT-19 continues in adolescents from 12 to less than 18 years of age and recently completed enrollment with 2,248 participants.</p>\n<p><b>Vaccine Logistics:</b> Pfizer recently secured FDA authorization for storing undiluted, thawed vaccine vials in the refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C for up to one month.</p>\n<p>Previously, thawed, undiluted vaccine vials could be stored in the refrigerator for up to five days. Moderna's vaccine can be stored refrigerated between 2° and 8°C for up to 30 days prior to first use.</p>\n<p>NVX-CoV2373 is stored and stable at 2°- 8°C, allowing the use of existing vaccine supply chain channels for its distribution. It is packaged in a ready-to-use liquid formulation in 10-dose vials.</p>\n<p><b>Vaccine Efficacy:</b> Interim data from Pfizer-BioNTech's Phase 3 trials released in December showed the vaccine was well-tolerated and demonstrated 95% efficacy in preventing COVID-19 in those without prior infection seven days or more after the second dose. Updated top-line results released for up to six months after the second dose confirmed efficacy at 91.3%.</p>\n<p>The vaccine was found 100% effective against severe disease as defined by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and 95.3% effective against severe COVID-19 as defined by the FDA. It was also proved effective against the U.K. strain in lab studies.</p>\n<p>Moderna's vaccine showed efficacy of 94.1% against COVID-19. The company announced in May initial data from its Phase 2 study showing that a single 50 mcg dose of mRNA-1273 or mRNA-1273.351 given as a booster to previously vaccinated individuals increased neutralizing antibody titer responses against SARS-CoV-2 and two variants of concern, B.1.351, first identified in South Africa, and P.1, first identified in Brazil.</p>\n<p>Novavax's investigational vaccine demonstrated 100% protection against moderate and severe disease not involving variants of concern or variants of interest.</p>\n<p>Against variants of concern and variants of interest, the efficacy was 93.2% and in high-risk populations, defined as over 65 or under 65 years with certain comorbidities or having circumstances with frequent COVID-19 exposure, the efficacy was 91%.</p>\n<p>Overall efficacy was 90.4%, meeting the primary endpoint.</p>\n<p><b>Cantor Fitzgerald On Novavax's Vaccine:</b>A differentiating factor for NVX-2373 is that it showed vaccine efficacy of 93.2% against VoC/VoI, which demonstrates protection across a broad range of SARS-CoV-2 strains, Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Charles Duncan said in a Monday morning note.</p>\n<p>\"Overall, these results enhance our conviction for a differentiated clinical and logistics profile from the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine candidate ‘2373,\" the analyst said.</p>\n<p>Showing efficacy against new strains in two Phase 3 clinical trials, rather than extrapolating potential efficacy from a neutralizing antibody assay conducted in a petri dish, differentiates NVX-CoV2373 from other vaccines that have emergency use authorization, he said.</p>\n<p>This profile, according to Cantor reduces regulatory/ commercial risk for the ‘2373 SARS-CoV-2 prophylactic vaccine candidate and, with positive Phase 3 data for NanoFlu reported in March 2020, should raise the profile for Novavax's platform as a whole.</p>\n<p><b>Vaccine Safety Data:</b>Pfizer-BioNTech's vaccine showed a favorable tolerability and safety profile, with the most common adverse events from BNT162b2 being transient, mild to moderate pain at the injection site, fatigue and headache, and these generally resolved within two days.</p>\n<p>For Moderna, the most common adverse reactions included injection site pain, fatigue, myalgia, arthralgia, headache, and erythema/redness at the injection site. Moderna: How COVID-19 Vaccines Stack Up\n</h2>\n\n<h4 class=\"meta\">\n\n\n<div class=\"head\" \">\n\n\n<div class=\"h-thumb\" style=\"background-image:url(https://static.tigerbbs.com/d08bf7808052c0ca9deb4e944cae32aa);background-size:cover;\"></div>\n\n<div class=\"h-content\">\n<p class=\"h-name\">Benzinga </p>\n<p class=\"h-time\">2021-06-15 17:52</p>\n</div>\n\n</div>\n\n\n</h4>\n\n</header>\n<article>\n<p>It was \"better late than never\" for <b>Novavax, Inc.</b>NVAX, as the biopharma finally got around to announcing interim results from the U.S. and Mexico leg of the Phase 3 study of NVX-CoV2371, its vaccine candidate against the novel coronavirus.</p>\n<p>Here's a comparative perspective of the vaccine candidates from Novavax, and the frontrunners, namely<b>Pfizer Inc.</b>PFE 0.05%-<b>BioNTech SE</b>BNTXand<b>Moderna, Inc.</b>MRNA, both of which have authorized vaccines in the market.</p>\n<p><b>Vaccine Type:</b> Novavax's NVX-CoV2371 is a recombinant nano-particle protein-based COVID-19 vaccine that is packaged with the company's proprietary Matrix-M adjuvant.</p>\n<p>The Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna products are mRNA vaccines, or modern vaccines that work by using a genetic code called mRNA that instructs our immune cells to make spike protein, which is found on the surface of the virus that causes COVID-19.</p>\n<p>This spike protein, though harmless, is capable of triggering our immune system to produce antibodies that offer protection against future infection.</p>\n<p>Novavax's vaccine is a protein adjuvant that contains the spike protein of the coronavirus itself, but formulated as a nanoparticle that cannot cause disease. The injected vaccine then stimulates the immune system to produce antibodies and T-cell immune responses.</p>\n<p><b>The Vaccine Doses:</b> The vaccines from each of the three companies require two doses. Each dose consists of 30 mcg for Pfizer and 100 mcg for Moderna, while for Novavax, each vaccine dose consists of 5 mcg of NVX-CoV2371 and 50 mcg of Matrix-M1 adjuvant that are co-formulated.</p>\n<p>The interval between the two doses — the priming and booster dose — is 21 days each for Pfizer and Novavax and 28 days for Moderna.</p>\n<p><b>The Target Population:</b> The original late-stage trial of Pfizer-BioNTech evaluated the vaccine in participants ages 16 years and older. The trial enrolled 43,448 participants.</p>\n<p>Moderna'sPhase 3 COVE study enrolled 30,000 participants ages 18 years and up.</p>\n<p>Since then, these two companies have obtained authorizations for their respective vaccines to be used in adolescents.</p>\n<p>Bothcompanieshave also initiated studies in the pediatric population.</p>\n<p>Novavax's study enrolled 29,960 participants 18 years of age and older across 119 sites in the U.S. and Mexico. The placebo-controlled portion of PREVENT-19 continues in adolescents from 12 to less than 18 years of age and recently completed enrollment with 2,248 participants.</p>\n<p><b>Vaccine Logistics:</b> Pfizer recently secured FDA authorization for storing undiluted, thawed vaccine vials in the refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C for up to one month.</p>\n<p>Previously, thawed, undiluted vaccine vials could be stored in the refrigerator for up to five days. Moderna's vaccine can be stored refrigerated between 2° and 8°C for up to 30 days prior to first use.</p>\n<p>NVX-CoV2373 is stored and stable at 2°- 8°C, allowing the use of existing vaccine supply chain channels for its distribution. It is packaged in a ready-to-use liquid formulation in 10-dose vials.</p>\n<p><b>Vaccine Efficacy:</b> Interim data from Pfizer-BioNTech's Phase 3 trials released in December showed the vaccine was well-tolerated and demonstrated 95% efficacy in preventing COVID-19 in those without prior infection seven days or more after the second dose. Updated top-line results released for up to six months after the second dose confirmed efficacy at 91.3%.</p>\n<p>The vaccine was found 100% effective against severe disease as defined by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and 95.3% effective against severe COVID-19 as defined by the FDA. It was also proved effective against the U.K. strain in lab studies.</p>\n<p>Moderna's vaccine showed efficacy of 94.1% against COVID-19. The company announced in May initial data from its Phase 2 study showing that a single 50 mcg dose of mRNA-1273 or mRNA-1273.351 given as a booster to previously vaccinated individuals increased neutralizing antibody titer responses against SARS-CoV-2 and two variants of concern, B.1.351, first identified in South Africa, and P.1, first identified in Brazil.</p>\n<p>Novavax's investigational vaccine demonstrated 100% protection against moderate and severe disease not involving variants of concern or variants of interest.</p>\n<p>Against variants of concern and variants of interest, the efficacy was 93.2% and in high-risk populations, defined as over 65 or under 65 years with certain comorbidities or having circumstances with frequent COVID-19 exposure, the efficacy was 91%.</p>\n<p>Overall efficacy was 90.4%, meeting the primary endpoint.</p>\n<p><b>Cantor Fitzgerald On Novavax's Vaccine:</b>A differentiating factor for NVX-2373 is that it showed vaccine efficacy of 93.2% against VoC/VoI, which demonstrates protection across a broad range of SARS-CoV-2 strains, Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Charles Duncan said in a Monday morning note.</p>\n<p>\"Overall, these results enhance our conviction for a differentiated clinical and logistics profile from the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine candidate ‘2373,\" the analyst said.</p>\n<p>Showing efficacy against new strains in two Phase 3 clinical trials, rather than extrapolating potential efficacy from a neutralizing antibody assay conducted in a petri dish, differentiates NVX-CoV2373 from other vaccines that have emergency use authorization, he said.</p>\n<p>This profile, according to Cantor reduces regulatory/ commercial risk for the ‘2373 SARS-CoV-2 prophylactic vaccine candidate and, with positive Phase 3 data for NanoFlu reported in March 2020, should raise the profile for Novavax's platform as a whole.</p>\n<p><b>Vaccine Safety Data:</b>Pfizer-BioNTech's vaccine showed a favorable tolerability and safety profile, with the most common adverse events from BNT162b2 being transient, mild to moderate pain at the injection site, fatigue and headache, and these generally resolved within two days.</p>\n<p>For Moderna, the most common adverse reactions included injection site pain, fatigue, myalgia, arthralgia, headache, and erythema/redness at the injection site. In addition, the company's gross profit was $237.3 million, while its vehicle margin was 21.2% against -7.4% a year ago. During the period, NIO has also improved its bottom-line performance, as its net loss was only $68.8 million, and despite the chip shortages and the Chinese New Year its deliveries have also increased by 422.7% Y/Y and by 15.6% Q/Q to 20,060.</p>\n<p>One of the best things about NIO is that it already has a dominant position in the Chinese EV industry and it also has a solid balance sheet, as its cash reserves at the end of Q1stoodat $7.2 billion, while it had only $1.59 billion in long-term debt. As a result, it can easily reinvest its resources back into the business to drive growth and establish an even stronger foothold in its home market without worrying too much about the current losses.</p>\n<p>On top of that, while some might say that by trading at a price-to-salesratioof ~13x NIO is overvalued, the reality is that its momentum is not slowing down and there's every reason to believe that the growth story is far from over. However, there are several reasons to believe that the ES8 is a more attractive car in comparison to the Model X, and as a result, NIO has all the opportunities to outsell its competitor in China in the long run. First of all, the ES8 has more legroom and headroom than the Model X, it also has a luxurious interior, and it comes with three different battery packages that could last from 415 kilometers to 580 kilometers on a single charge.</p>\n<p>All of the ES8 SUVs include a proprietary operating system, have advanced navigation software, and most importantly cost ~$70,000 per vehicle in China, which is below the cost of Tesla's Model X, which comes at a price tag of ~$110,000 per vehicle in the region. We believe that this pricing advantage will undoubtedly help NIO to outsell Tesla in the SUV segment, especially since its cars now could bepurchasedat a discount thanks to the new Chinese subsidy program.</p>\n<p>Another uniqueness of NIO is its battery as a service business model, which allows its customers to swap their batteries in various swapping stations around China if they don't want to charge their cars or are in a hurry. After recently deploying the second version of its Power Swap stations, the swapping of batteries is now done in under three minutes, which is the same as refueling a traditional ICE car, and a single station now could perform up to 312 battery swaps in a single day. NIO now has a network of charging stations across all of China and if the solid-state batteries won't be available by the end of the decade at scale, then the idea of swapping batteries on the go will remain a viable business model in the long run.</p>\n<p>Going forward, NIO plans to accelerate its deliveries this month in order to meet its Q2 goal of delivering 21,000 to 22,000 vehicles, which represents a growth of 103% Y/Y to 113% Y/Y and plans to generate $1.24 to $1.29 billion in revenues during the period. Despite the semiconductor shortages, NIO already managed to increase its deliveries in April and May to 7,102 vehicles and 6,711 vehicles, respectively, which represents a growth of 125% Y/Y and 95.3% Y/Y, respectively. On top of that, NIO is also on track to deliver 90,000 to 100,000 vehicles this year.</p>\n<p>Considering this, there's every reason to believe that NIO will continue to be a dominant player in the Chinese EV market and a leader of the luxury EV segment in the region. While the company doesn't have an infrastructure outside China, we don't think that's a downside at all since China is the biggest EV market in the world that's constantly growing and NIO has better chances of creating shareholder value there than abroad. In addition, the company's gross profit was $237.3 million, while its vehicle margin was 21.2% against -7.4% a year ago. During the period, NIO has also improved its bottom-line performance, as its net loss was only $68.8 million, and despite the chip shortages and the Chinese New Year its deliveries have also increased by 422.7% Y/Y and by 15.6% Q/Q to 20,060.</p>\n<p>One of the best things about NIO is that it already has a dominant position in the Chinese EV industry and it also has a solid balance sheet, as its cash reserves at the end of Q1stoodat $7.2 billion, while it had only $1.59 billion in long-term debt. As a result, it can easily reinvest its resources back into the business to drive growth and establish an even stronger foothold in its home market without worrying too much about the current losses.</p>\n<p>On top of that, while some might say that by trading at a price-to-salesratioof ~13x NIO is overvalued, the reality is that its momentum is not slowing down and there's every reason to believe that the growth story is far from over. Considering that even at the market cap of ~$70 billion NIO still trades below the Streetconsensusprice of $59.24 per share, it's safe to assume that the upside is still there, especially since the current forecasts suggest that the company will increase its revenues from $2.49 billion in FY20 to $8.81 billion in FY22.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/71905e5a90565b6a7e8864b3f6b0c226\" tg-width=\"883\" tg-height=\"382\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"></p>\n<p><i>Source: Seeking Alpha</i></p>\n<p>At this stage, the major competitor of NIO's flagship SUVES8is Tesla's Model X. However, there are several reasons to believe that the ES8 is a more attractive car in comparison to the Model X, and as a result, NIO has all the opportunities to outsell its competitor in China in the long run. First of all, the ES8 has more legroom and headroom than the Model X, it also has a luxurious interior, and it comes with three different battery packages that could last from 415 kilometers to 580 kilometers on a single charge.</p>\n<p>All of the ES8 SUVs include a proprietary operating system, have advanced navigation software, and most importantly cost ~$70,000 per vehicle in China, which is below the cost of Tesla's Model X, which comes at a price tag of ~$110,000 per vehicle in the region. We believe that this pricing advantage will undoubtedly help NIO to outsell Tesla in the SUV segment, especially since its cars now could bepurchasedat a discount thanks to the new Chinese subsidy program.</p>\n<p>Another uniqueness of NIO is its battery as a service business model, which allows its customers to swap their batteries in various swapping stations around China if they don't want to charge their cars or are in a hurry. After recently deploying the second version of its Power Swap stations, the swapping of batteries is now done in under three minutes, which is the same as refueling a traditional ICE car, and a single station now could perform up to 312 battery swaps in a single day. NIO now has a network of charging stations across all of China and if the solid-state batteries won't be available by the end of the decade at scale, then the idea of swapping batteries on the go will remain a viable business model in the long run.</p>\n<p>Going forward, NIO plans to accelerate its deliveries this month in order to meet its Q2 goal of delivering 21,000 to 22,000 vehicles, which represents a growth of 103% Y/Y to 113% Y/Y and plans to generate $1.24 to $1.29 billion in revenues during the period. Despite the semiconductor shortages, NIO already managed to increase its deliveries in April and May to 7,102 vehicles and 6,711 vehicles, respectively, which represents a growth of 125% Y/Y and 95.3% Y/Y, respectively. On top of that, NIO is also on track to deliver 90,000 to 100,000 vehicles this year.</p>\n<p>Considering this, there's every reason to believe that NIO will continue to be a dominant player in the Chinese EV market and a leader of the luxury EV segment in the region. While the company doesn't have an infrastructure outside China, we don't think that's a downside at all since China is the biggest EV market in the world that's constantly growing and NIO has better chances of creating shareholder value there than abroad. Benefits include access to hundreds of swapping stations, lifetime free roadside rescue (including charge vans), lifetime free cellular connectivity, lifetime free warranty, and excellent customer service. This is good news for investors because the only way to escape the competitive battlefield of automobile OEM is to sell services and lifestyles to customers. This is why Ferrari's (RACE) operating margin is well over 20%, while Ford (F) and General Motors (GM) are in the single digits.</p>\n<p><b>Financials & Valuation</b></p>\n<p>NIO is in hyper-growth mode. In 2020, the company generated $2.5 billion in revenue, up 126% y/y. In 2021, the company is expected to grow 117% y/y to $5.4 billion.</p>\n<p>The company is not yet profitable but is expected to be by 2022. Gross margin only turned positive in 2020 and is expected to be 19.3% in 2021. EBITDA is expected to be negative $258 million in 2021 and a positive $206 million in 2022. Free cash flow is expected to be negative $42 million in 2021 before turning to a positive $354 million in 2022.</p>\n<p>However, despite the cash burn expected in 2021, investors should feel at ease since the company exited 2020 with $5.9 billion of cash and cash equivalents. Including $600 million in short-term investments and subtracting ~$2.1 billion in debt and operating leases and the expected negative free cash flow in 2021, NIO should exit 2021 with over $4 billion in net cash and investments. That is plenty of buffers since NIO is expected to generate positive free cash flow in 2022.</p>\n<p>Since NIO is not yet profitable, we will look at the forward EV/Sales multiple as is typical for hyper-growth companies not yet generating a profit. The company went public in September 2018, trading at around 7 to 8 times EV/Sales, before bottoming out at around 0.7 times sales in May 2019. The market, however, caught the EV fever in April 2020 and sent NIO's valuation soaring to a peak of 14.6x by January 2021. After the growth sell-off we recently experienced, NIO is currently sitting at a much more reasonable 8 times forward sales. This is a significant discount to TSLA's 10.2 times forward EV/Sales despite growing twice as fast (TSLA is expected to grow revenues by 57% in 2021 compared to NIO's 117%).</p>\n<p><b>Risks</b></p>\n<p>There are many risks associated with owning NIO.</p>\n<p>Although its battery swapping strategy is highly differentiated and seems to be growing rapidly, the jury is still out on the ultimate market share of battery swapping or fast-charging infrastructure. If fast charging technology continues to advance significantly, it will likely erode a key advantage of battery swapping: speed.</p>\n<p>NIO's business model is innovative and new. Unfortunately, the flip side of that is that it is untested, and NIO remains unprofitable. For many investors, NIO will remain a \"show me\" story until the profitability of its business model improves.</p>\n<p>NIO's ability to expand globally may be limited by the rising geopolitical tension between China and the US, and to a lesser extent, with Japan and Europe. The geopolitical situation remains highly opaque and uncertain, and is a risk factor for all auto OEMs.</p>\n<p>Auto OEMs are currently facing a severe chip shortage. In addition, the chip density in automobiles is increasing, making the OEMs increasingly reliant on semiconductor suppliers and foundries.</p>\n<p>NIO's competitive advantages may not overcome the massive scale advantage of ICE OEMs and much bigger EV players like Tesla and China's BYD.</p>\n<p><b>Takeaway</b></p>\n<p>NIO's technical and business model innovations make it a highly differentiated company in the exciting and rapidly growing EV market. This is the same perception issue that Japanese companies faced following their defeat after WW2. Japan solved this problem by moving up the value chain as their economy matured and creating high-quality brands such as Sony(NYSE:SONY). I strongly believe that investors who stubbornly hold on to that old perception will miss out on investing in some of the greatest brands the world will ever see.\nBuying an NIO car means much more than just getting a vehicle; it means getting into an exclusive club of services and convenience. Benefits include access to hundreds of swapping stations, lifetime free roadside rescue (including charge vans), lifetime free cellular connectivity, lifetime free warranty, and excellent customer service. NIO's effort to build a lifestyle around its cars seems to be working. This is good news for investors because the only way to escape the competitive battlefield of automobile OEM is to sell services and lifestyles to customers. This is why Ferrari's (RACE) operating margin is well over 20%, while Ford (F) and General Motors (GM) are in the single digits.\nFinancials & Valuation\nNIO is in hyper-growth mode. In 2020, the company generated $2.5 billion in revenue, up 126% y/y. In 2021, the company is expected to grow 117% y/y to $5.4 billion.\nThe company is not yet profitable but is expected to be by 2022. Gross margin only turned positive in 2020 and is expected to be 19.3% in 2021. EBITDA is expected to be negative $258 million in 2021 and a positive $206 million in 2022. Free cash flow is expected to be negative $42 million in 2021 before turning to a positive $354 million in 2022.\nHowever, despite the cash burn expected in 2021, investors should feel at ease since the company exited 2020 with $5.9 billion of cash and cash equivalents. Including $600 million in short-term investments and subtracting ~$2.1 billion in debt and operating leases and the expected negative free cash flow in 2021, NIO should exit 2021 with over $4 billion in net cash and investments. That is plenty of buffers since NIO is expected to generate positive free cash flow in 2022.\nSince NIO is not yet profitable, we will look at the forward EV/Sales multiple as is typical for hyper-growth companies not yet generating a profit. The company went public in September 2018, trading at around 7 to 8 times EV/Sales, before bottoming out at around 0.7 times sales in May 2019. The market, however, caught the EV fever in April 2020 and sent NIO's valuation soaring to a peak of 14.6x by January 2021. After the growth sell-off we recently experienced, NIO is currently sitting at a much more reasonable 8 times forward sales. This is a significant discount to TSLA's 10.2 times forward EV/Sales despite growing twice as fast (TSLA is expected to grow revenues by 57% in 2021 compared to NIO's 117%).\nRisks\nThere are many risks associated with owning NIO.\nAlthough its battery swapping strategy is highly differentiated and seems to be growing rapidly, the jury is still out on the ultimate market share of battery swapping or fast-charging infrastructure. If fast charging technology continues to advance significantly, it will likely erode a key advantage of battery swapping: speed.\nNIO's business model is innovative and new. Unfortunately, the flip side of that is that it is untested, and NIO remains unprofitable. For many investors, NIO will remain a \"show me\" story until the profitability of its business model improves.\nNIO's ability to expand globally may be limited by the rising geopolitical tension between China and the US, and to a lesser extent, with Japan and Europe. The geopolitical situation remains highly opaque and uncertain, and is a risk factor for all auto OEMs.\nAuto OEMs are currently facing a severe chip shortage. This is fantastic.</p>\n<p>If you remember to pre-pandemic if you followed Disney, their biggest revenue segment was the theme parks, which also includes the cruise lines. But to have those parks getting back to full capacity is a very good thing. People are coming back to theaters. I saw a recent survey from a movie theater chain or Fandango I believe it was. The percentages are really high in terms of people who are going to theaters who want to go back, who are going to go see multiple movies at summer or plan to. That's a really good sign. Marvel's Phase Four is about to kick off in the theaters. We got a couple of new shows on Disney+ <i>Loki</i> starting up, beginning in June.</p>\n<p>But let's talk about <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> thing. Let's highlight one thing here. The recent earnings report with a little bit disappointing to some investors because of those Disney+ numbers. What were those numbers? They came in at 104 million subscribers, and were expecting 109 million, and so were quibbling at about a five percent difference. When if you look at what's happened in the past year-and-a-half, Disney+ has gone from 0-104 million in about 17 months. That's amazing and I don't want to, I think if you are quibbling over five million, you're missing the point here. They'll outperform <b>Netflix</b> in the quarter in terms of additional subscribers. ESPN+ seems to be growing, which is strange when we think about because that's the one that probably has the least amount of original content. They are doing well, average revenue per user is growing at that at ESPN+ turn, churn at Disney+ is not a problem. They seem to be doing quite well there. I think this company is doing fine. I don't think anyone should worry about this, and future looks good for them.</p>\n<p><b>Brian Withers:</b> That's an exciting update. Toby, I love to see the parks coming back open again. But the market has already priced a lot of this reopening already into the stock. I looked at the stock prices from March of 2020, mid-March when the coronavirus really came in and started to shut things down. Disney [stock] has doubled since then. Do you think we could see Disney shares priced lower a year from now?</p>\n<p><b>Toby Bordelon:</b> It's certainly possible. Like you said, there is a lot of priced in right now. But I think we may be surprised when we get to the end of this year about the rebound surge of the theme parks and the movie theaters. I'm not sure that even with pricing in this reopening trade as it were, that we're really capturing the fullness of what Disney can do.</p>\n<p>Look at those theme parks. We got the Star Wars hotel that's opening up, which is a multi-day experience that you stay in this hotel and you don't leave. The new Avengers Campus at Disneyland, I think that's opening up beginning of June as well. There is a lot going on to both bringing people back and to potentially bring in a new segment of people who might not have been big fans of Disneyland, Disney World parks before with The Avengers and Star Wars stuff. This is a major entertainment juggernaut and that's not going to change anytime soon.
