turning part of its Seattle headquarters into a public cooling center as the Pacific Northwest grapples with a record-breaking heat wave.\nThe air-conditioned cooling center is set up at the Amazon Meeting Center, which is part of the company’s South Lake Union campus in downtown Seattle. The site has room for up to 1,000 individuals, according tothe city of Seattle’s website. Many homes in the area lack air conditioning, as Seattle’s climate is usually temperate.\nThe meeting center is a stone’s throw from the Amazon Spheres, or the glass orbs that anchor its downtown Seattle campus. Amazonpreviously convertedthe meeting center into a pop-up clinic to administer Covid-19 vaccines earlier this year.\nUnprecedented heat wavesare sweeping the Pacific Northwest, pushing daytime temperatures into the triple digits andcausing power outagesin some parts of the region. Temperatures in Seattle ticked above 100 degrees on Monday, marking the first time on record the city has had three consecutive triple-digit days, according to theNational Weather Service.\nPrior to this week, the city only had three days in the last126 yearswhere the temperature hit 100, according to an National Weather Service spokesperson quoted by Scientific American. Scientists say that climate change is making suchextreme high temperaturesmore common.\nEven with the intense heat, Amazon warehouses in Kent, Washington, remained open,The Seattle Timesreported on Sunday. One facility in the Kent warehouse complex ran “power hours” in some departments, where workers were asked to move as quickly as possible for an hour, in order to juice productivity, the Times reported, citing workers at the facility.\nRepresentatives from Amazon didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.\nElsewhere, Portland on Sunday saw temperatures reach a record high of 112 degrees, just one day after hitting a high temperature of 108 degrees. The National Weather Service expects that temperatures in Portland could climb as high as 114 degrees on Monday, breaking the heat record for the third consecutive day.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":290,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":127586344,"gmtCreate":1624856721188,"gmtModify":1631884848740,"author":{"id":"3579743174642505","authorId":"3579743174642505","name":"looka","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6946e85bac2a90c42c2df0ad616740d5","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3579743174642505","authorIdStr":"3579743174642505"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good read","listText":"Good read","text":"Good read","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/127586344","repostId":"1140487835","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1140487835","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1624850853,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1140487835?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-28 11:27","market":"us","language":"en","title":"These names stand out using one of the best methods to pick stocks, according to Ned Davis Research","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1140487835","media":"CNBC","summary":"Investors looking to add stocks to their portfolio during the summer months should pay close attenti","content":"<div>\n<p>Investors looking to add stocks to their portfolio during the summer months should pay close attention to earnings expectations, according to Ned Davis Research.\nCorporate earnings season will start ...</p>\n\n<a href=\"https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/27/these-names-stand-out-using-one-of-the-best-methods-to-pick-stocks-according-to-ned-davis-research.html\">Web Link</a>\n\n</div>\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"<!DOCTYPE html>\n<html>\n<head>\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; As of early June, stocks in the S&P 500 had their increase in second-quarter earnings estimates since 2002, according to FactSet’s John Butters.\nWhile the increasing estimates could make the bar harder to clear for some companies, they should also be a good indicator for investors looking to buy, according to Ned Davis Research.\n“Earnings revisions has been one of the top-performing strategies over time. As the market outlook improves, investors reward the companies with improving earnings growth expectations,” NDR’s Brian Sanborn said in a note to clients last week.\nThe firm’s earnings earnings revisions factor measures the monthly change in one-year earnings projections by analysts. The strategy has performed particularly well after periods like Wall Street has seen over the past six months.\n“Earnings revisions was one of the top factors following strong periods of Value relative strength compared to Growth as in 1993 and 2006. This strategy has also exceled after all-time market highs and sentiment peaks,” the note said.\nNED DAVIS RESEARCH PORTFOLIO PICKS\n\n\n\nTICKER\nCOMPANY\nPRICE\nCHANGE\n%CHANGE\n\n\n\n\nDE\nDeere & Co\n349.99\n-0.63\n-0.1797\n\n\nLOW\nLowe’s Companies Inc\n192.66\n0.91\n0.47\n\n\nUNH\nUnitedHealth Group Inc\n404.95\n6.08\n1.52\n\n\nACN\nAccenture PLC\n294.66\n3.10\n1.06\n\n\nFB\nFacebook\n341.37\n-1.81\n-0.5274\n\n\n\nThe firm highlighted several of the stocks from its portfolio picks list for high marks in its earnings revision factor and other strategies, including tech giantFacebookand Dow componentUnitedHealth Group.\nShares of Facebook have picked up momentum over the past three months, rising more than 20%.
