beaten-down growth stocks could stage a strong comeback for patient investors.","content":"
Has the internet's favorite stock picker lost her edge? Many of the high-growth tech stocks that made Cathie Wood famous tumbled in 2021.
\n
The stock market is throwing a fit in response to the Federal Reserve's warning that there could be up to three interest rate rises in 2022. Investors will be happy to learn that the underlying businesses that made these stocks big winners in the past aren't necessarily sensitive to rising interest rates. Here's a closer look at why they have a chance to bounce back in 2022 and continue outperforming for the long run.
\n
\n
1. PayPal Holdings
\n
PayPal Holdings (NASDAQ:PYPL) shares are down about 38% from the peak they reached this July. Analysts on Wall Street who get paid to follow the fintech giant expect a swift recovery. The average price target for PayPal is 42% above the stock's recent price.
\n
Shares of PayPal have been tumbling recently in response to buy now, pay later (BNPL) troubles that hammered its smaller payment processing peers. In recent months, investors are finding it harder to ignore the fact that underwriting loans to customers traditional banks won't touch might not be a terrific business model.
\n
It's important to remember that PayPal has the top optionality in the fintech space. In the beginning, eBay (NASDAQ:EBAY) marketplace transactions used to be all this company did. The company processed payments totaling $310 billion in the third quarter, and only around $9 billion originated on eBay.
\n
Venmo payments processed grew 36% year over year to $60 billion, and this revenue stream could accelerate. In 2022, Amazon customers will be able to check out using their Venmo accounts.
\n
Unlike Affirm and similar BNPL start-ups that are still bleeding money, PayPal is a strongly profitable business that generated around $5 billion in free cash flow over the past year. That means PayPal can afford to be a lot more discerning about which customers are eligible for its BNPL service.
\n
\n
2. Zoom Video Communications
\n
Zoom Video Communications (NASDAQ:ZM) shares peaked over a year ago. The company is earning heaps more now than it did a year ago, but shareholders aren't seeing the success in their portfolios.
\n
Shares of Zoom fell by more than half in 2021, but the average analyst paid to follow the company thinks it can bounce back in 2022. The consensus price target at the moment suggests a 56% gain once the rest of the stock market sees the company's future in a positive light again.
\n
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration's recent authorization of Pfizer's anti-coronavirus pill is good news for America, but not so great for Zoom's already stalling growth trajectory. Luckily, Zoom is already strongly profitable and will likely remain so once the pandemic finally ends.
\n
The company's increasingly popular, cloud-based private phone network, Zoom Phone, makes it a lot easier for businesses to allow their employees to work remotely. Third-quarter Zoom Phone revenue grew by a triple-digit percentage compared to the previous-year period.
\n
\n
3. DocuSign
\n
DocuSign (NASDAQ:DOCU) shares recently tanked more than 40% overnight in response to a downward revision to the company's forward outlook. Analysts following this provider of digital agreement services may have lowered their expectations, but the stock is still 27% below its consensus price target.
\n
DocuSign fell out of favor after reporting fiscal third-quarter billings that missed expectations. Many of the high-growth tech stocks that made Cathie Wood famous tumbled in 2021.\nThe stock market is throwing a fit in response to the Federal Reserve's warning that there could be up to three interest rate rises in 2022. Investors will be happy to learn that the underlying businesses that made these stocks big winners in the past aren't necessarily sensitive to rising interest rates. Here's a closer look at why they have a chance to bounce back in 2022 and continue outperforming for the long run.\nImage source: Getty Images.\n1. PayPal Holdings\nPayPal Holdings (NASDAQ:PYPL) shares are down about 38% from the peak they reached this July. Analysts on Wall Street who get paid to follow the fintech giant expect a swift recovery. The average price target for PayPal is 42% above the stock's recent price.\nShares of PayPal have been tumbling recently in response to buy now, pay later (BNPL) troubles that hammered its smaller payment processing peers. In recent months, investors are finding it harder to ignore the fact that underwriting loans to customers traditional banks won't touch might not be a terrific business model.\nIt's important to remember that PayPal has the top optionality in the fintech space. In the beginning, eBay (NASDAQ:EBAY) marketplace transactions used to be all this company did. The company processed payments totaling $310 billion in the third quarter, and only around $9 billion originated on eBay.\nVenmo payments processed grew 36% year over year to $60 billion, and this revenue stream could accelerate. In 2022, Amazon customers will be able to check out using their Venmo accounts.\nUnlike Affirm and similar BNPL start-ups that are still bleeding money, PayPal is a strongly profitable business that generated around $5 billion in free cash flow over the past year. That means PayPal can afford to be a lot more discerning about which customers are eligible for its BNPL service.\nImage source: Getty Images.\n2. Zoom Video Communications\nZoom Video Communications (NASDAQ:ZM) shares peaked over a year ago. The company is earning heaps more now than it did a year ago, but shareholders aren't seeing the success in their portfolios.\nShares of Zoom fell by more than half in 2021, but the average analyst paid to follow the company thinks it can bounce back in 2022. The consensus price target at the moment suggests a 56% gain once the rest of the stock market sees the company's future in a positive light again.\nThe U.S. Food and Drug Administration's recent authorization of Pfizer's anti-coronavirus pill is good news for America, but not so great for Zoom's already stalling growth trajectory. Luckily, Zoom is already strongly profitable and will likely remain so once the pandemic finally ends.\nThe company's increasingly popular, cloud-based private phone network, Zoom Phone, makes it a lot easier for businesses to allow their employees to work remotely. Third-quarter Zoom Phone revenue grew by a triple-digit percentage compared to the previous-year period.\nImage source: Getty Images.\n3. DocuSign\nDocuSign (NASDAQ:DOCU) shares recently tanked more than 40% overnight in response to a downward revision to the company's forward outlook. Analysts following this provider of digital agreement services may have lowered their expectations, but the stock is still 27% below its consensus price target.\nDocuSign fell out of favor after reporting fiscal third-quarter billings that missed expectations. Instead of reaching a predicted range between $585 million and $597 million, third-quarter billings came in at just $565 million.\nDespite slightly lowered expectations, DocuSign has what it takes to bounce back in 2022 and continue performing for years to come. Recognized revenue soared 42% year over year to $545 million, and cash generated by operating activities jumped 84% to $104 million.\nNew business isn't beating a path to DocuSign's door as it did during the strictest pandemic-fueled lockdowns, but it doesn't look like customers are jumping to competing services either. Management was able to boast a net dollar retention rate of 121% during the third quarter.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1097,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":696118729,"gmtCreate":1640649259971,"gmtModify":1640649260395,"author":{"id":"3578570760040163","authorId":"3578570760040163","name":"hmmwvms","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a906b2444a1aca7cd161a6e1ee03687e","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3578570760040163","authorIdStr":"3578570760040163"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"<a giant is the better all-around investment?","content":"
Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) own the two largest cloud infrastructure platforms in the world.
\n
Amazon Web Services (AWS) controlled 32% of that market in the third quarter of 2021, according to Canalys. Microsoft's Azure ranked second with a 21% share, while all the other players held single-digit shares.
\n
That dominance makes Amazon and Microsoft two of the top plays on the global cloud computing market, which Grand View Research estimates will expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19.1% from 2021 and 2028. But which tech giant is the better cloud play, as well as the stronger all-around investment?
\n
The differences between Microsoft and Amazon
\n
Microsoft and Amazon started out in very different places. Microsoft had traditionally generated most of its revenue from on-premise software before Satya Nadella, who took over as the company's third CEO in 2014, adopted a \"mobile first, cloud first\" mantra and aggressively expanded Azure, Office 365, Dynamics, and its other cloud-based services.
\n
Under Nadella, Microsoft's annualized commercialized revenue rose from just 14% of its revenue in fiscal 2016 to 41% in fiscal 2021. Microsoft leveraged the strength of its on-premise software business to tether more businesses -- particularly retailers that competed against Amazon and didn't want to support AWS -- to its cloud services.
\n
Amazon, which still generates most of its revenue from its online marketplaces, launched AWS in 2002. However, it only started breaking out AWS' revenue and operating profits in 2015. That's when investors realized that AWS generated much higher-margin revenue than its retail business.
\n
Last year, AWS generated just 12% of Amazon's revenue but raked in 59% of its operating profits. AWS' higher-margin business enables Amazon to expand its retail segment and Prime ecosystem with lower-margin strategies, which arguably makes it the bedrock of its entire business.
\n
That's why Jeff Bezos, who vacated the CEO position earlier this year, handed the reins to Andy Jassy, the former chief of AWS.
\n
Which tech giant is growing faster?
\n
The pandemic generated headwinds for Microsoft while stirring up some tailwinds for Amazon. For Microsoft, the pandemic throttled the growth of its enterprise-facing software businesses as large companies shut down. However, it partly offset that slowdown with the expansion of its cloud, Surface, and Xbox gaming businesses as more people worked remotely and stayed at home.
\n
But for Amazon, the pandemic boosted its online sales while generating strong demand for its cloud-based services. Its expenses surged as it spent billions of dollars on COVID-19 safety measures, but its soaring revenue easily offset that temporary pressure on its operating margins.
\n
Microsoft should generate more stable growth in a post-pandemic market than Amazon because its growth wasn't pulled forward too much. However, Amazon will likely face much tougher year-over-year comparisons:
\n
\n <colgroup></colgroup>\n
\n
\n

Revenue Growth (YOY)

\n

Previous FY

\n

Current FY

\n

Next FY

\n
\n
\n

Amazon

\n

38%

\n

22%

\n

18%

\n
\n
\n

Microsoft

\n

18%

\n

17%

\n

14%

\n
\n
\n
\n
Source: Amazon, Microsoft, Yahoo Finance, Dec. 22. YOY = Year-over-year. FY = Fiscal year.
\n
In terms of profits, Microsoft should also experience a softer landing than Amazon:
\n
\n <colgroup></colgroup>\n
\n
\n

EPS Growth (YOY)

\n

Previous FY

\n

Current FY

\n

Next FY

\n
\n
\n

Amazon

\n

82%

\n

(2%)

\n

26%

\n
\n
\n

Microsoft

\n

38%

\n

14%

\n

14%

\n
\n
\n
\n
Source: Amazon, Microsoft, Yahoo Finance, Dec. 22.
\n
That's because Amazon is ramping up its investments again (especially in digital media) as its revenue growth decelerates. Meanwhile, Microsoft already deployed its biggest \"mobile first, cloud first\" investments in previous years -- and it won't experience a significant jump in expenses next year.
\n
What do the valuations say?
\n
Neither stock can be considered cheap relative to its near-term growth. Microsoft's Azure ranked second with a 21% share, while all the other players held single-digit shares.\nThat dominance makes Amazon and Microsoft two of the top plays on the global cloud computing market, which Grand View Research estimates will expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19.1% from 2021 and 2028. But which tech giant is the better cloud play, as well as the stronger all-around investment?\nThe differences between Microsoft and Amazon\nMicrosoft and Amazon started out in very different places. Microsoft had traditionally generated most of its revenue from on-premise software before Satya Nadella, who took over as the company's third CEO in 2014, adopted a \"mobile first, cloud first\" mantra and aggressively expanded Azure, Office 365, Dynamics, and its other cloud-based services.\nUnder Nadella, Microsoft's annualized commercialized revenue rose from just 14% of its revenue in fiscal 2016 to 41% in fiscal 2021. Microsoft leveraged the strength of its on-premise software business to tether more businesses -- particularly retailers that competed against Amazon and didn't want to support AWS -- to its cloud services.\nAmazon, which still generates most of its revenue from its online marketplaces, launched AWS in 2002. However, it only started breaking out AWS' revenue and operating profits in 2015. That's when investors realized that AWS generated much higher-margin revenue than its retail business.\nLast year, AWS generated just 12% of Amazon's revenue but raked in 59% of its operating profits. AWS' higher-margin business enables Amazon to expand its retail segment and Prime ecosystem with lower-margin strategies, which arguably makes it the bedrock of its entire business.\nThat's why Jeff Bezos, who vacated the CEO position earlier this year, handed the reins to Andy Jassy, the former chief of AWS.\nWhich tech giant is growing faster?\nThe pandemic generated headwinds for Microsoft while stirring up some tailwinds for Amazon. For Microsoft, the pandemic throttled the growth of its enterprise-facing software businesses as large companies shut down. However, it partly offset that slowdown with the expansion of its cloud, Surface, and Xbox gaming businesses as more people worked remotely and stayed at home.\nBut for Amazon, the pandemic boosted its online sales while generating strong demand for its cloud-based services. Its expenses surged as it spent billions of dollars on COVID-19 safety measures, but its soaring revenue easily offset that temporary pressure on its operating margins.\nMicrosoft should generate more stable growth in a post-pandemic market than Amazon because its growth wasn't pulled forward too much. However, Amazon will likely face much tougher year-over-year comparisons:\n\n\n\n\nRevenue Growth (YOY)\nPrevious FY\nCurrent FY\nNext FY\n\n\nAmazon\n38%\n22%\n18%\n\n\nMicrosoft\n18%\n17%\n14%\n\n\n\nSource: Amazon, Microsoft, Yahoo Finance, Dec. 22. YOY = Year-over-year. FY = Fiscal year.\nIn terms of profits, Microsoft should also experience a softer landing than Amazon:\n\n\n\n\nEPS Growth (YOY)\nPrevious FY\nCurrent FY\nNext FY\n\n\nAmazon\n82%\n(2%)\n26%\n\n\nMicrosoft\n38%\n14%\n14%\n\n\n\nSource: Amazon, Microsoft, Yahoo Finance, Dec. 22.\nThat's because Amazon is ramping up its investments again (especially in digital media) as its revenue growth decelerates. Meanwhile, Microsoft already deployed its biggest \"mobile first, cloud first\" investments in previous years -- and it won't experience a significant jump in expenses next year.\nWhat do the valuations say?\nNeither stock can be considered cheap relative to its near-term growth. Amazon trades at 54 times forward earnings, while Microsoft has a lower forward price-to-earnings ratio of 37.\nHowever, the bulls will argue that both companies deserve to trade at premium valuations because they're well-insulated from inflation. Amazon's e-commerce business could attract bargain hunters as retail prices rise, and both companies' cloud platforms should easily retain their pricing power as the cloud market expands.\nThe winner: Microsoft\nMicrosoft is arguably a better cloud stock than Amazon, for three simple reasons: Azure is growing significantly faster than AWS, it's an attractive option for Amazon's rivals, and its cloud services are tightly tethered to Windows, Office, Dynamics, and its other software platforms.\nMicrosoft is also a better all-around investment because it's better diversified, it faces easier post-pandemic comparisons, and its stock is cheaper. Tesla managed aGAAPnet income of $438 million in the first quarter, up from just $16 million one-year prior. It would appear, at least at first glance, that the electric-vehicle (EV) pioneer is on the right track in terms of profitability.
\n
The problem is that these profits aren't really coming from the cars that Tesla sells. The company currently generates hundreds of millions of dollars in pure profit each quarter from the sale of regulatory credits, a side effect of other automakers not making enough zero-emission vehicles to meet regulatory requirements.
\n
Regulatory credit sales totaled $518 million in the first quarter, accounting for all of Tesla's profit and then some. This has been the case in previous quarters, as well. In fact, after backing out regulatory credits from Tesla's net income, the company has been unprofitable for six-straight quarters.
\n
Tesla's bottom line got an additional boost in the first quarter from a gain onthe sale ofBitcointo the tune of $101 million, which showed up as a reduction in costs. The picture doesn't look so rosy when both regulatory credits and Bitcoin gains are excluded:
\n

\n
DATA SOURCE: TESLA. CHART BY AUTHOR.
\n
There's no question that Tesla's growth is impressive, but there's also no question that the core business of making and selling cars is not turning a profit. The question Tesla investors need to ask themselves is: If Tesla isn't profitable now, when there's little to no competition in electric vehicles in the United States, what's going to happen when a deluge of competition fromtraditional automakersarrives?
\n
A ton of competition is coming
\n
Tesla's brand has a cult following, so some people will be buying Tesla vehicles regardless of the other options available. But that's not likely to be the case for most people.
\n
The number of electric vehicles available for purchase in the U.S. is set to explode in the coming years.General Motors(NYSE:GM)is planning to launch 30 EVs globally by 2025, with two-thirds set to be sold in North America. Tesla managed aGAAPnet income of $438 million in the first quarter, up from just $16 million one-year prior. It would appear, at least at first glance, that the electric-vehicle (EV) pioneer is on the right track in terms of profitability.\nThe problem is that these profits aren't really coming from the cars that Tesla sells. The company currently generates hundreds of millions of dollars in pure profit each quarter from the sale of regulatory credits, a side effect of other automakers not making enough zero-emission vehicles to meet regulatory requirements.\nRegulatory credit sales totaled $518 million in the first quarter, accounting for all of Tesla's profit and then some. This has been the case in previous quarters, as well. In fact, after backing out regulatory credits from Tesla's net income, the company has been unprofitable for six-straight quarters.\nTesla's bottom line got an additional boost in the first quarter from a gain onthe sale ofBitcointo the tune of $101 million, which showed up as a reduction in costs. The picture doesn't look so rosy when both regulatory credits and Bitcoin gains are excluded:\n\nDATA SOURCE: TESLA. CHART BY AUTHOR.\nThere's no question that Tesla's growth is impressive, but there's also no question that the core business of making and selling cars is not turning a profit. The question Tesla investors need to ask themselves is: If Tesla isn't profitable now, when there's little to no competition in electric vehicles in the United States, what's going to happen when a deluge of competition fromtraditional automakersarrives?\nA ton of competition is coming\nTesla's brand has a cult following, so some people will be buying Tesla vehicles regardless of the other options available. But that's not likely to be the case for most people.\nThe number of electric vehicles available for purchase in the U.S. is set to explode in the coming years.General Motors(NYSE:GM)is planning to launch 30 EVs globally by 2025, with two-thirds set to be sold in North America. The company is aiming to sell 1 million EVs annually in North America by 2025.\nThose models include electric versions of the company's GMC Hummer and Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. Tesla has a loyal customer base, but so does GM. While careful not to derail the recovery - with no end in sight for supportive policy measures such as bond-buying - the rate-rise signal highlighted concerns about inflation.
\n
\"I think there was a scenario that people had in mind, that the Fed was going to allow for a larger and longer inflation overshoot, and I think with the increase in the dot plot yesterday... people are rethinking that scenario,\" said David Lefkowitz, head of equities for the Americas at UBS Global Wealth Management.
\n
Technology shares, which generally perform better when interest rates are low, powered a rally on Wall Street last year as investors flocked to stocks seen as relatively safe during times of economic turmoil.
\n
Investors returned to such positions on Thursday. Rather than launch rockets from the ground, like competitors such as Rocket Lab or Astra, the company’s aircraft carries its LauncherOne rockets up to about 45,000 feet altitude and drops them just before they fire the engine and accelerate into space –a method the company touts as more flexiblethan a ground-based system.\nLauncherOne is designed to carry small satellites that weigh up to 500 kilograms, or about 1,100 pounds, into space. The social-media giant could have permanently banned then-President Donald Trump on Jan. 7, after he used the platform to lie about the 2020 election and praise rioters trying to seize control of the US Capitol the day before. Trump and his supporters would have squealed, but decisive action by Facebook would have left them no choice: Deal with it.

Instead, Facebook (FB) suspended Trump’s account “indefinitely,” while asking the company’s “oversight board”—a group of outside policy experts—to recommend a permanent solution. On May 5, the board “upheld” Facebook’s decision to exile Trump, but it alsodinged Facebook for the arbitrary application of vague standards. Instead of handing the company a simple answer, it told Facebook to come up with a permanent solution of its own within six months.

Have you ever watched an overwrought parent try to negotiate with a misbehaving five-year-old? Instead of telling the kid to stop being a brat, the parent tries to persuade the child why it’s important to stop being a brat, hoping the child will stop being a brat because he sees the light and learns an important life lesson in the process. You want to shout, “just tell him to stop it!”

This is what’s going on with Facebook and its oversight board. Facebook is trying to dodge responsibility for making a decision sure to be unpopular with some of its users. The oversight board, relishing its own perceived importance, issued an11,800 word communiquethat didn’t resolve anything. The real answer is painfully obvious: Facebook should permanently ban anybody who’s a chronic liar and violence inciter. Yet nobody in Faceworld can say it.

Let’s quickly review what’s really happening in the Facebook saga, by annotating the motives of the key players. It won’t take thousands of words.

Donald Trump.He wants the largest possible audience for his propaganda, includinghis lies about the 2020 election being stolenfrom him. The social-media giant could have permanently banned then-President Donald Trump on Jan. 7, after he used the platform to lie about the 2020 election and praise rioters trying to seize control of the US Capitol the day before. Trump and his supporters would have squealed, but decisive action by Facebook would have left them no choice: Deal with it.Instead, Facebook (FB) suspended Trump’s account “indefinitely,” while asking the company’s “oversight board”—a group of outside policy experts—to recommend a permanent solution. On May 5, the board “upheld” Facebook’s decision to exile Trump, but it alsodinged Facebook for the arbitrary application of vague standards. Instead of handing the company a simple answer, it told Facebook to come up with a permanent solution of its own within six months.Have you ever watched an overwrought parent try to negotiate with a misbehaving five-year-old? Instead of telling the kid to stop being a brat, the parent tries to persuade the child why it’s important to stop being a brat, hoping the child will stop being a brat because he sees the light and learns an important life lesson in the process. You want to shout, “just tell him to stop it!”This is what’s going on with Facebook and its oversight board. Facebook is trying to dodge responsibility for making a decision sure to be unpopular with some of its users. The oversight board, relishing its own perceived importance, issued an11,800 word communiquethat didn’t resolve anything. The real answer is painfully obvious: Facebook should permanently ban anybody who’s a chronic liar and violence inciter. Yet nobody in Faceworld can say it.Let’s quickly review what’s really happening in the Facebook saga, by annotating the motives of the key players. It won’t take thousands of words.Donald Trump.He wants the largest possible audience for his propaganda, includinghis lies about the 2020 election being stolenfrom him. But even if the trend is here to stay, the length of each individual stock’s run can be fleeting, a CNBC analysis of market data shows.\nOn average, Reddit stocks’ runs lasted nine trading days from the start to their first big drop during the initial frenzy in January, though durations varied and some experienced significant volatility even before finally cratering.\n\nThe trading mania made a resurgence this week as day traders on Reddit’s WallStreetBets forum rotated fromAMC EntertainmenttoClover HealthandWendy’son Tuesday, and toClean Energy Fuelson Wednesday, many of which have elevated levels of short interest. But if recent history is any guide, most of these speculative runs could be short-lived.\nCNBC identified the starting point for five stocks popular on message boards earlier this year —GameStop, AMC,Bed Bath & Beyond,BlackBerry,andKoss Corp. — by finding the first time each stocks’ single-day trading volume at least doubled its 30-day moving average of shares traded. That typically represents the point at which a flurry of new investors took interest in a stock that was not being heavily traded.\nPrior to the start ofthe original GameStop saga, for example, around 11 million shares of the stock were being traded each day on average. Then on Jan. 13, nearly 145 million GameStop shares traded hands and the share price surged 57%, the start of a run in which seven of the following nine days would see double-digit gains.\nGameStop finally took a steep dive of 44% on Jan. 28, an 11-day run in which the stock reached record highs. In the days following, the stock seesawed, falling by as much as 60% on its way back down.\n\nAMC Entertainment, which was on the brink of bankruptcy not long ago, enjoyed a 90% rally this month alone as the movie theater chain dethroned GameStop to become the meme king in the WallStreetBets chatroom.\nAMC’s latest run (18 days and counting) is much longer than the January episode, which lasted for nine days. Investors might be encouraged by AMC’s rapid action to raise cash as the company sold 20 million shares in two separate deals last week,generating around $800 million in capital.Still, the volatile name tumbled 10% on Wednesday.\nInstitutional investors come into play\nNot only do Reddit traders pile into shares of these meme stocks, they have also been flocking to call option contracts. A call option is an instrument that gives an investor the right to buy a stock at a stated price within a particular time frame.\nOptions volume exploded during the latest episode of the trading frenzy. Daily single stock options volume increased to more than $40 billion to $383 billion in the past week, according to data from Barclays.\nWhen a certain meme stock catches on and explodes in prices, institutional investors could use the volatility to their benefit by using more complex options strategies for outsized profits.\nThe initial spike in options volume in these speculative names tends to target out-of-the-money calls, much higher than where the stock is trading, and that has a distorting effect on options prices that savvier retail, and certainly institutional traders then start to take advantage of, said CC Lagator, founder of trading platformOptions AI.\n“Retail is distorting options prices. It’s bad for those that come late and good for somebody who wants to take the other side of their trades,” Lagator said. “A sophisticated trader, anyone from the professional side could be selling those overpriced options to them and buying underpriced options.”\nIn fact, many of these meme stocks including GameStop and AMC experienced a significant drop in retail trading as a percentage of total volume in the days ahead of the ultimate peak and subsequent decline, according to Goldman Sachs.\n“At some point, retail traders become a smaller percentage of overall volume and the tailwind inherent in this ‘attention’ signal fades,” John Marshall, head of derivatives research at Goldman, said in a note.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":149,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":197240634,"gmtCreate":1621470686028,"gmtModify":1631891983733,"author":{"id":"3578570760040163","authorId":"3578570760040163","name":"hmmwvms","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a906b2444a1aca7cd161a6e1ee03687e","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3578570760040163","authorIdStr":"3578570760040163"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Still need to wear no matter what","listText":"Still need to wear no matter what","text":"Still need to wear no matter what","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/197240634","repostId":"2136465859","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":95,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":198879444,"gmtCreate":1620953117888,"gmtModify":1631891983745,"author":{"id":"3578570760040163","authorId":"3578570760040163","name":"hmmwvms","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a906b2444a1aca7cd161a6e1ee03687e","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3578570760040163","authorIdStr":"3578570760040163"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Interesting. However, Pfizer has said that public health considerations outside of the clinical trials might be taken into consideration.\"Our study demonstrates that peak antibody responses after the second Pfizer vaccine are markedly enhanced in older people when this is delayed to 12 weeks,\" Helen Parry, an author of the study based at the University of Birmingham, said.Britain began rolling out Pfizer's vaccine before changing dosing policy, meaning a small number of people who got the shot early received the second shot three weeks later.The study, which has not yet been peer-reviewed, looked at 175 people aged between 80 and 99, and found that extending the second dose interval to 12 weeks increased the peak antibody response 3.5-fold compared to those who had it at three weeks.Antibodies are one part of the immune system, and vaccines also generate T cells. The peak T cell responses were higher in the group with a 3 week interval between doses, and the authors warned against drawing conclusions on how protected individuals were based on which dosing schedule they received.However, taken with data showing good protection against hospitalisation and death from just one shot of Pfizer vaccine, Public Health England said the study was further supportive evidence in favour of Britain's approach.\"The approach taken in the UK for delaying that second dose has really paid off,\" Gayatri Amirthalingam, Consultant Epidemiologist at Public Health England, told reporters.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":71,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":103082060,"gmtCreate":1619739232850,"gmtModify":1634210359264,"author":{"id":"3578570760040163","authorId":"3578570760040163","name":"hmmwvms","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a906b2444a1aca7cd161a6e1ee03687e","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3578570760040163","authorIdStr":"3578570760040163"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Up up up. Here’s what four of them told CNBC after the report:\nDan Ives, senior equity research analyst for technology at Wedbush Securities, said this could be a “historic year” for Apple:\n“If you looked up ‘blowout earnings’ in the dictionary, it would be Apple’s March quarter. I mean, this is what I almost say is the dream scenario for the bulls in terms of what you see on iPhones, services [and] of course on the buyback as well. … Many are skeptical about the supercycle. You look at this quarter. This [is] what I believe is the exclamation mark that the supercycle is alive and well. This looks like this is going to be Apple’s historic year where they’ll break 231 million iPhones. I think right now, this is the catalyst to get this to 175, $200. This is really, in my opinion, probably the best quarter I’ve seen from Apple in the last 18-24 months.”\nMike Santoli, CNBC’s senior markets commentator, said one big risk to Apple is the “perception” of pulled-forward demand:\n\"The company itself says it does not expect this kind of run rate for iPad and Mac. Now, phones, different story. We don't know if that's going to continue to play out. And then it's what multiple do you put on it? [A] $90 billion incremental stock buyback I think is pretty much in the zone. To me, it seems like a pretty stingy dividend increase, but they're really … emphasizing the buyback. So, the story is intact, it's always just been about how far do we extrapolate this type of performance? We already are paying 29 times currently expected earnings. How much can those earnings go up to bolster that valuation?\"\nCEO of Superhuman and Apple shareholder Rahul Vohra saw several positive catalysts for the company:\n\"I actually look more towards the Mac and the iPad businesses. We saw through 2020 and, as we all expected, Q2 as well, extremely strong growth in those businesses fueled primarily by remote work. And I think the question we're all asking is will this continue? I think we will continue to see these businesses grow in 2021. The new iMacs are jaw-droppingly beautiful. The new iPads are real laptop replacements. And remote work will keep these devices as well as iPhone in high demand. And actually, at Superhuman, we just completed a study that underlines all of this. It turns out that 51% of U.S. remote workers are now buying productivity tools out of their own pockets and a further 17% more still plan to do so.\"\nGene Munster, managing partner at Loup Ventures, said Apple's valuation is still \"at the lower end\" considering the \"transformative tech\" it creates:\n\"Some incredible growth years are still ahead of this company. Everything from hardware as a service — we talk about this. We refer to it as a 360 bundle, to be able to rent a Mac, an iPhone, your services all together. We think that's coming in the next couple of years. We're going to hear likely about mixed reality, those goggles at the developers' conference. That's part of the metaverse. That's a big opportunity. And then remains what they do around automotive. That's a, depending on how you look at the addressable market, multitrillion-dollar addressable market. So, I would say this: let's just take a quick step back. This was a good quarter. It was a great quarter. I don't know what the adjective is. It's probably as good of a quarter, as much upside, as I've seen in a decade from Apple. What I can say is that the naysayers will say it's not sustainable, and I understand that, but that has been a well-traveled theme around this and Apple year in, year out, delivers, and I think they'll continue. I'll leave with this thought: I have a prediction that Apple's going to be the top-performing FAANG for 2021. I am well behindGoogleright now — I think they're up 30-40%. Apple's just up fractionally. And I continue to stand behind that. I think that results [Wednesday], they will eventually get credit for it and as they start to step into some of these new growth curves.\"","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":285,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":825478293,"gmtCreate":1634256509762,"gmtModify":1634274403273,"author":{"id":"3578570760040163","authorId":"3578570760040163","name":"hmmwvms","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a906b2444a1aca7cd161a6e1ee03687e","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3578570760040163","authorIdStr":"3578570760040163"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Teladoc Health Inc.(TDOC)$sharing ","listText":"$Teladoc Health Inc.(TDOC)$sharing ","text":"$Teladoc Health Inc.(TDOC)$sharing","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/102c17b603a14816f75586815e00e69f","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/825478293","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":190,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":806757617,"gmtCreate":1627696261539,"gmtModify":1631887364855,"author":{"id":"3578570760040163","authorId":"3578570760040163","name":"hmmwvms","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a906b2444a1aca7cd161a6e1ee03687e","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3578570760040163","authorIdStr":"3578570760040163"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Teladoc Health Inc.(TDOC)$sharing ","listText":"$Teladoc Health Inc.(TDOC)$sharing ","text":"$Teladoc Health Inc.(TDOC)$sharing","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/db988383fe55200b4354a5517c42e996","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/806757617","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":378,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3577663334956222","authorId":"3577663334956222","name":"Jeffchung","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"3577663334956222","authorIdStr":"3577663334956222"},"content":"下周还要跌,财报不好,盘前跌的11个点当天硬是被拉回来,下周就要还回来了","text":"下周还要跌,财报不好,盘前跌的11个点当天硬是被拉回来,下周就要还回来了","html":"下周还要跌,财报不好,盘前跌的11个点当天硬是被拉回来,下周就要还回来了"}],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":185300323,"gmtCreate":1623632113162,"gmtModify":1634030986460,"author":{"id":"3578570760040163","authorId":"3578570760040163","name":"hmmwvms","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a906b2444a1aca7cd161a6e1ee03687e","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3578570760040163","authorIdStr":"3578570760040163"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Manipulator","listText":"Manipulator","text":"Manipulator","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/185300323","repostId":"1132051258","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":89,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
