since Apple Inc. announced upcoming privacy changes to the iPhone, many companies with internet advertising businesses have been warning about its impact potential looming over their results.
\n
Apple updated its mobile operating system in April to give users the option of not sharing their data or having it tracked, making it more difficult for software developers to track users across their apps, and for advertisers to target their ads.
\n
Based on comments by Snap on Thursday, the results are not pretty. The young social-media company, known for its Snapchat app, blamed the changes Apple made to iOS as a big factor in its $3 million third-quarter revenue shortfall. In addition, Snap executives forecast that fourth-quarter revenue would grow at a rate of only about 19% to 20%, down from third-quarter growth of 57%.
\n
Shares of Snap plunged more than 20% in after-hours trading, taking some of the biggest names in tech with it — Facebook Inc.,Alphabet Inc.,Twitter Inc. and Pinterest Inc. all saw their shares fall after the Snap news.
\n
Facebook, for example, has been warning about the effects of Apple’s changes for more than a year, most recently in September, but investors have yet to see much change to Facebook’s very profitable business model, even amid all the other controversies at the social-media giant.
\n
Last December, Facebook even launched a full-on PR assault on Apple, with full-page ads in three national newspapers, proclaiming that Apple’s then-upcoming changes would hurt the ability of small businesses to offer targeted advertising to consumers, and app developers’ ability to offer free content.
\n
But Snap co-founder and Chief Executive Evan Spiegel — who has previously avoided aiming any specific attacks at Apple regarding the change — said Thursday that the privacy changes have proved more problematic than expected, specifically mentioning that Apple even changed the tools that advertisers have to measure results of their ads.
\n
“I think what we really underestimated were the tooling changes,” said Spiegel. “Advertisers have essentially for a long time now used a set of really sophisticated tools to measure and optimize their campaigns, so that allows them to test out a bunch of different creative and see what’s performing.”
\n
With Apple’s changes, he said, those tools “were essentially rendered blind.”
\n
Still, Spiegel reined in his criticism of Apple, adding that these privacy changes were “important to the long-term health of the ecosystem” and something that “we fully support.”
\n
In addition to Apple’s huge changes, the global supply chain and staffing problems are affecting the number of ads that companies are starting to run in the all-important holiday season.
\n
“[Advertisers] don’t necessarily want to accelerate the field of products that they are going to have a hard time getting into the hands of customers, and that is somewhat broad,” Snap Chief Business Officer Jeremi Gorman told analysts on Thursday’s post-earnings conference call.
\n
But Snap executives added, in response to an analyst’s question, that the Apple changes were having the biggest impact and would affect the broader advertising ecosystem, as some companies have been warning about but not yet quantifying.
\n
“So what you’re seeing when we go into Q4 is a full-quarter impact of those issues, on Q4, and you know the reason that we’re mentioning, you know, iOS 15, is that that’s going to continue to disrupt the advertising ecosystem,” said Derek Anderson, Snap’s chief financial officer.
\n
Facebook, Google parent Alphabet and Twitter all report earnings next week, and investors will be able to gauge how widespread those issues are from their results, guidance and comments on company conference calls. If the outlook for the fourth quarter from any of those companies is as dismal as Snap’s, investors are likely to see a huge downdraft in internet ad companies. On Thursday, many investors were trying to get ahead of future bad news, which could even potentially impact the reported mega-merger talks between PayPal Holdings Inc. and Pinterest.
\n
If Snap’s warning does prove to be applicable to its rivals, the next few weeks could spell an “ad-mageddon” for internet stocks and social-media companies.
","source":"lsy1603348471595","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; The young social-media company, known for its Snapchat app, blamed the changes Apple made to iOS as a big factor in its $3 million third-quarter revenue shortfall. In addition, Snap executives forecast that fourth-quarter revenue would grow at a rate of only about 19% to 20%, down from third-quarter growth of 57%.\nShares of Snap plunged more than 20% in after-hours trading, taking some of the biggest names in tech with it — Facebook Inc.,Alphabet Inc.,Twitter Inc. and Pinterest Inc. all saw their shares fall after the Snap news.\nFacebook, for example, has been warning about the effects of Apple’s changes for more than a year, most recently in September, but investors have yet to see much change to Facebook’s very profitable business model, even amid all the other controversies at the social-media giant.\nLast December, Facebook even launched a full-on PR assault on Apple, with full-page ads in three national newspapers, proclaiming that Apple’s then-upcoming changes would hurt the ability of small businesses to offer targeted advertising to consumers, and app developers’ ability to offer free content.\nBut Snap co-founder and Chief Executive Evan Spiegel — who has previously avoided aiming any specific attacks at Apple regarding the change — said Thursday that the privacy changes have proved more problematic than expected, specifically mentioning that Apple even changed the tools that advertisers have to measure results of their ads.\n“I think what we really underestimated were the tooling changes,” said Spiegel. “Advertisers have essentially for a long time now used a set of really sophisticated tools to measure and optimize their campaigns, so that allows them to test out a bunch of different creative and see what’s performing.”\nWith Apple’s changes, he said, those tools “were essentially rendered blind.”\nStill, Spiegel reined in his criticism of Apple, adding that these privacy changes were “important to the long-term health of the ecosystem” and something that “we fully support.”\nIn addition to Apple’s huge changes, the global supply chain and staffing problems are affecting the number of ads that companies are starting to run in the all-important holiday season.\n“[Advertisers] don’t necessarily want to accelerate the field of products that they are going to have a hard time getting into the hands of customers, and that is somewhat broad,” Snap Chief Business Officer Jeremi Gorman told analysts on Thursday’s post-earnings conference call.\nBut Snap executives added, in response to an analyst’s question, that the Apple changes were having the biggest impact and would affect the broader advertising ecosystem, as some companies have been warning about but not yet quantifying.\n“So what you’re seeing when we go into Q4 is a full-quarter impact of those issues, on Q4, and you know the reason that we’re mentioning, you know, iOS 15, is that that’s going to continue to disrupt the advertising ecosystem,” said Derek Anderson, Snap’s chief financial officer.\nFacebook, Google parent Alphabet and Twitter all report earnings next week, and investors will be able to gauge how widespread those issues are from their results, guidance and comments on company conference calls. If the outlook for the fourth quarter from any of those companies is as dismal as Snap’s, investors are likely to see a huge downdraft in internet ad companies. On Thursday, many investors were trying to get ahead of future bad news, which could even potentially impact the reported mega-merger talks between PayPal Holdings Inc. and Pinterest.\nIf Snap’s warning does prove to be applicable to its rivals, the next few weeks could spell an “ad-mageddon” for internet stocks and social-media companies.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":618,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":861937047,"gmtCreate":1632447664689,"gmtModify":1632723406293,"author":{"id":"3576813955258325","authorId":"3576813955258325","name":"A68","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d209afa981c29a4dc34bd7c1c986fb4a","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Okie","listText":"Okie","text":"Okie","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/861937047","repostId":"2169696151","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2169696151","pubTimestamp":1632440280,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2169696151?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-09-24 07:38","market":"us","language":"en","title":"After-Hours Stock Movers: Costco, Nike, Vail Resorts and more","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2169696151","media":"StreetInsider","summary":"After-Hours Stock Movers:\nOnconova Therapeutics, Inc. Normal","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1191635168","media":"InvestorPlace","summary":"Investors should expect some turbulence in these risky stocks.\n\n\nBroader markets have been making re","content":"
\n Investors should expect some turbulence in these risky stocks.\n
\n

\n
Broader markets have been making record highs in April. However, as a busy earnings season gets underway, many investors might consider taking some money off the table, and decreasing their exposure to risky names. Such stocks might come under increased pressure if their financial metrics fall short of expectations. Therefore, today, we introduce seven risky stocks that could cool off in the rest of the year.
\n
About a year ago, in the early days of the pandemic, many companies were caught off guard. But since then, investors have bet the economy will return to normal sooner than later. As a result, momentum, instead of financial metrics, have provided the catalyst for the increase in prices.
\n
Yet, the earnings season typically means increased choppiness in the markets. Investors take time to analyze a given company’s fundamentals against expectations. Right now, valuations are frothy for many businesses. A large number of firms have borrowed heavily to stay afloat during the pandemic. Other new business, such as electric vehicle (EV) names, are pre-revenue companies without the prospect of income any time soon. On the other hand, some have been riding the optimism of policies that might come with President Joe Biden’s administration (such as pot names).
\n
Therefore, April might become the quarter when investor optimism regarding a number of stocks falter, especially if their fundamental numbers do not match the Street’s forecasts. Against that backdrop, here are seven risky stocks to keep an eye on for today:
\n
\n
Carnival(NYSE:CCL)
\n
Cerner (NASDAQ:CERN)
\n
Fisker(NYSE:FSR)
\n
GameStop(NYSE:GME)
\n
Groupon(NASDAQ:GRPN)
\n
Tilray(NASDAQ:TLRY)
\n
Yalla(NYSE:YALA)
\n
\n
Risky Stocks: Carnival (CCL)
\n
52-week range:$11.00 – $30.63
\n
Year-to-date (YTD) price change:26.13%
\n
First on my list of risky stocks is CCL. As the largest cruise company worldwide,Carnivalhas close to 100 ships that are ready to welcome guests when cruises are allowed to sail the high seas again.Prior to the pandemic, in 2019, around 13 million guests sailed with Carnival.
\n
According to Q1 metrics of April 7,adjusted net loss was $2 billion. The company finished the quarter with $11.5 billion of cash and short-term investments. Management highlighted the fact that several of its European cruises are expected to start limited operations in the summer.
\n
Yet, the cruise operator is unlikely to generate significant revenue in the rest of the world, especially in North America, for months to come. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) currently has a Conditional Sailing Order (CSO)in place through the beginning of November. As a result, cruises will not likely start this summer, either.
\n
Many other countries have similar bans. For instance, Canada has banned all cruises in Canadian waters through the end of February 2022, which means Alaska-bound cruises cannot take place, either. However, summer months are extremely important for cruise operators.
\n
Put another way, despite the pent-up demand, the industry cannot expect to recover in 2021. In fact, given the news of a potential third wave in the pandemic, Carnival is unable to predict when the entire fleet will return to normal operations. And yet, CCL stock has soared over the past year. I expect the shares to be choppy in Q2. A potential decline toward $23 would make the risk-reward profile more attractive.
\n
Cerner (CERN)
\n
52-week range:$63.11 – $84.20
\n
YTD price change:-5.1%
\n
Dividend yield:1.18%
\n
Kansas City, Missouri-based Cerner is a leading supplier of healthcare information technology (IT) solutions. It also offers an integrated clinical and financial system to help manage day-to-day revenue and operational functions.
\n
Cerner released itsQ4 2020 financialson Feb. 10.Revenue was $1.442 billion, a decline of 3%. The bottom line was up 1.7% year-over-year (YoY) and came at $241.2 million. Diluted earnings per share (EPS) grew by 4% YoY to 78 cents. As of year-end, free cash flow stood at $396 million.
\n
CEO Brent Shafer cited “Cerner’s fourth quarter results reflect a very solid finish to the year. … As a result of our progress in 2020, we enter 2021 well-positioned to deliver increased value to our clients while also driving profitable growth for shareholders.”
\n
The company expects to generate between $1.37 billion and $1.42 billion in revenue in Q1 and between $5.75 billion and $5.95 billion in 2021. While diluted EPS guidance for Q1 is in the range of $0.72 to $0.76, the company expects to achieve between $3.10 and $3.20 diluted EPS for the full year.
\n
Cerner shares are trading at aforward price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 22.9.Its price-to-sales (P/S) ratio stands at 4.09. By historical standards, this is an expensive valuation level. The company would need to grow revenue, income and margins to sustain the current price level. Yet, the hospital space has become competitive with a number of entrants. Interested investors might want to wait for a potential decline toward $67.
\n
Fisker (FSR)
\n
52-week range:$8.70 – $31.96
\n
YTD price change:-10.85%
\n
Manhattan Beach, California-basedFiskeris a risky name among auto stocks. It began trading in October 2020, following a reverse-merger with Spartan Energy Acquisition Corp., a SPAC at the time. Fisker’s business model involves designing EVs.
\n
In other words, the company leaves the manufacturing to other companies with more know-how and scale capability. At this point, Fisker has no revenue. 2020 became the year when EV makers and alternative energy stocks soared, regardless of their business models or financial realities. Consumers worldwide are becoming increasingly environmentally conscious. Meanwhile, governments are encouraging green businesses.
\n
But with a market cap of $3.3 billion, FSR stock is a speculative play in the competitive EV space. The Fisker Ocean, an electric sport utility vehicle (SUV), might be available in two years. It plans to offer a $379-per-month lease package that includes all maintenance and servicing. Until then, the group will likely keep burning cash.
\n
Analysts believe Fisker’s proposed asset-light model will bring both advantages and disadvantages. Yet, other than the Ocean model, there is no possibility to generate revenues under the current strategy. Any hiccup in the production or delivery of the model will mean headwinds for the shares, making it a clear choice for this list of risky stocks. As a result, FSR stock is likely to be volatile in the coming months, at least until we have more visibility from the company. A potential decline toward $10 is possible.
\n
GameStop (GME)
\n
52-week range:$3.77 – $483.00
\n
YTD price change:722.35%
\n
Grapevine, Texas-based GameStop is a multichannel video game and consumer electronics retailer. It sells new and second-hand video game hardware, physical and digital video game software, and video game accessories, mainly through stores and international e-commerce sites both in the U.S. and globally.
\n
As mostInvestorPlace.comreaders are well aware, this risky stock has been making regular headlines with its short-squeeze potential.Reddittraders have been on a relentless task to go against various hedge funds for shorting GME stock. At the end of January, the shares hit a record high of $483. Now, they’re hovering around $150.
\n
On April 5, the company announcedpreliminary unaudited salesresults for the first nine weeks of FY21. Accordingly, in the first four-week period of this year (i.e., in February), GameStop’s total sales increased 5.3% YoY. In March however, sales grew by 18% YoY, which brings cumulative nine weeks’ YoY growth performance to 11%. It is important to remember that during Q1 2020, its operations were negatively impacted by the temporary store closures.
\n
The rollercoaster ride in GME stock has been exciting to watch, and the company has a massive following among retail investors. But going forward, fundamental drivers are likely to determine the price, as Reddit traders could potentially take their collected short-squeeze efforts to another name. The market capitalization stands around $10.7 billion. The share price is expensive for such a valuation. The market would need to see management taking steps to grow revenues significantly before a new leg up can begin in GME shares.
\n
Groupon (GRPN)
\n
52-week range:$14.95 – $64.69
\n
YTD price change:32.48%
\n
Next on my list of risky stocks is Chicago, Illinois-based Groupon. The company acts as the intermediary between consumers and merchants, offering a variety of deals on products and services. It generates 40% of its revenue from the take rate on the purchase the vouchers sold. The rest comes from direct sales. Around 60% of Groupon’s revenue is from North America.
\n
At the end of February, the company announced Q4 and2020 financial figures.Q4 revenue declined by 44% YoYto $343.1 million. Non-GAAP net income was $15.1 million, or 51 cents per diluted share. A year ago, the metrics had been $44.6 million, or $1.44 per diluted share. As of year-end, cash and equivalents recorded were $850.6 million. Management pointed out the adverse effects of the pandemic on the results.
\n
CFO Melissa Thomas stated, “The Groupon team continued to deliver improving financial results in the fourth quarter, including sequential adjusted EBITDA growth, positive free cash flow and a cash balance of $851 million.” Following the release of the results, the company held anearnings callin which they revealed 2021 guidance.
\n
Accordingly, for the full year of 2021, Groupon expects the recovery to be weighted toward the second half of the year. The company expects to generate between $930 million and $980 million revenue (vs. $1,417 million of 2020) and $100 million and $110 million adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) versus $49.8 million in 2020.
\n
GRPN’sforward P/Estands at 140.85. Groupon was one of the first names in the deal voucher segment, used mostly by price-sensitive customers. However, since then a number of competitors have also entered the space, squeezing margins. Furthermore, in the past decade many small and local merchants have increased their own marketing efforts to reach consumers directly. Unless management can increase revenues, the shares will likely decline. Potential investors would find better value below $40.
\n
Tilray (TLRY)
\n
52-week range:$4.41 – $67.00
\n
YTD price change:104.12%
\n
Canada-based cannabis producerTilray has been in the limelight. In mid-December, the group announced an upcoming merger with another Canadian marijuana business,Aphria(NASDAQ:APHA). However, as a busy earnings season gets underway, many investors might consider taking some money off the table, and decreasing their exposure to risky names. Such stocks might come under increased pressure if their financial metrics fall short of expectations. Therefore, today, we introduce seven risky stocks that could cool off in the rest of the year.\nAbout a year ago, in the early days of the pandemic, many companies were caught off guard. But since then, investors have bet the economy will return to normal sooner than later. As a result, momentum, instead of financial metrics, have provided the catalyst for the increase in prices.\nYet, the earnings season typically means increased choppiness in the markets. On the other hand, some have been riding the optimism of policies that might come with President Joe Biden’s administration (such as pot names).\nTherefore, April might become the quarter when investor optimism regarding a number of stocks falter, especially if their fundamental numbers do not match the Street’s forecasts. Against that backdrop, here are seven risky stocks to keep an eye on for today:\n\nCarnival(NYSE:CCL)\nCerner (NASDAQ:CERN)\nFisker(NYSE:FSR)\nGameStop(NYSE:GME)\nGroupon(NASDAQ:GRPN)\nTilray(NASDAQ:TLRY)\nYalla(NYSE:YALA)\n\nRisky Stocks: Carnival (CCL)\n52-week range:$11.00 – $30.63\nYear-to-date (YTD) price change:26.13%\nFirst on my list of risky stocks is CCL. As the largest cruise company worldwide,Carnivalhas close to 100 ships that are ready to welcome guests when cruises are allowed to sail the high seas again.Prior to the pandemic, in 2019, around 13 million guests sailed with Carnival.\nAccording to Q1 metrics of April 7,adjusted net loss was $2 billion. The company finished the quarter with $11.5 billion of cash and short-term investments. Management highlighted the fact that several of its European cruises are expected to start limited operations in the summer.\nYet, the cruise operator is unlikely to generate significant revenue in the rest of the world, especially in North America, for months to come. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) currently has a Conditional Sailing Order (CSO)in place through the beginning of November. As a result, cruises will not likely start this summer, either.\nMany other countries have similar bans. For instance, Canada has banned all cruises in Canadian waters through the end of February 2022, which means Alaska-bound cruises cannot take place, either. However, summer months are extremely important for cruise operators.\nPut another way, despite the pent-up demand, the industry cannot expect to recover in 2021. In fact, given the news of a potential third wave in the pandemic, Carnival is unable to predict when the entire fleet will return to normal operations. And yet, CCL stock has soared over the past year. I expect the shares to be choppy in Q2. A potential decline toward $23 would make the risk-reward profile more attractive.\nCerner (CERN)\n52-week range:$63.11 – $84.20\nYTD price change:-5.1%\nDividend yield:1.18%\nKansas City, Missouri-based Cerner is a leading supplier of healthcare information technology (IT) solutions. It also offers an integrated clinical and financial system to help manage day-to-day revenue and operational functions.\nCerner released itsQ4 2020 financialson Feb. 10.Revenue was $1.442 billion, a decline of 3%. The bottom line was up 1.7% year-over-year (YoY) and came at $241.2 million. Diluted earnings per share (EPS) grew by 4% YoY to 78 cents. As of year-end, free cash flow stood at $396 million.\nCEO Brent Shafer cited “Cerner’s fourth quarter results reflect a very solid finish to the year. … As a result of our progress in 2020, we enter 2021 well-positioned to deliver increased value to our clients while also driving profitable growth for shareholders.”\nThe company expects to generate between $1.37 billion and $1.42 billion in revenue in Q1 and between $5.75 billion and $5.95 billion in 2021. While diluted EPS guidance for Q1 is in the range of $0.72 to $0.76, the company expects to achieve between $3.10 and $3.20 diluted EPS for the full year.\nCerner shares are trading at aforward price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 22.9.Its price-to-sales (P/S) ratio stands at 4.09. By historical standards, this is an expensive valuation level. The company would need to grow revenue, income and margins to sustain the current price level. Yet, the hospital space has become competitive with a number of entrants. Interested investors might want to wait for a potential decline toward $67.\nFisker (FSR)\n52-week range:$8.70 – $31.96\nYTD price change:-10.85%\nManhattan Beach, California-basedFiskeris a risky name among auto stocks. It began trading in October 2020, following a reverse-merger with Spartan Energy Acquisition Corp., a SPAC at the time. Fisker’s business model involves designing EVs.\nIn other words, the company leaves the manufacturing to other companies with more know-how and scale capability. At this point, Fisker has no revenue. 2020 became the year when EV makers and alternative energy stocks soared, regardless of their business models or financial realities. Consumers worldwide are becoming increasingly environmentally conscious. Meanwhile, governments are encouraging green businesses.\nBut with a market cap of $3.3 billion, FSR stock is a speculative play in the competitive EV space. The Fisker Ocean, an electric sport utility vehicle (SUV), might be available in two years. It plans to offer a $379-per-month lease package that includes all maintenance and servicing. Until then, the group will likely keep burning cash.\nAnalysts believe Fisker’s proposed asset-light model will bring both advantages and disadvantages. A potential decline toward $10 is possible.\nGameStop (GME)\n52-week range:$3.77 – $483.00\nYTD price change:722.35%\nGrapevine, Texas-based GameStop is a multichannel video game and consumer electronics retailer. It sells new and second-hand video game hardware, physical and digital video game software, and video game accessories, mainly through stores and international e-commerce sites both in the U.S. and globally.\nAs mostInvestorPlace.comreaders are well aware, this risky stock has been making regular headlines with its short-squeeze potential.Reddittraders have been on a relentless task to go against various hedge funds for shorting GME stock. At the end of January, the shares hit a record high of $483. Now, they’re hovering around $150.\nOn April 5, the company announcedpreliminary unaudited salesresults for the first nine weeks of FY21. Accordingly, in the first four-week period of this year (i.e., in February), GameStop’s total sales increased 5.3% YoY. In March however, sales grew by 18% YoY, which brings cumulative nine weeks’ YoY growth performance to 11%. It is important to remember that during Q1 2020, its operations were negatively impacted by the temporary store closures.\nThe rollercoaster ride in GME stock has been exciting to watch, and the company has a massive following among retail investors. But going forward, fundamental drivers are likely to determine the price, as Reddit traders could potentially take their collected short-squeeze efforts to another name. The market capitalization stands around $10.7 billion. The share price is expensive for such a valuation. The market would need to see management taking steps to grow revenues significantly before a new leg up can begin in GME shares.\nGroupon (GRPN)\n52-week range:$14.95 – $64.69\nYTD price change:32.48%\nNext on my list of risky stocks is Chicago, Illinois-based Groupon. The company acts as the intermediary between consumers and merchants, offering a variety of deals on products and services. It generates 40% of its revenue from the take rate on the purchase the vouchers sold. The rest comes from direct sales. Around 60% of Groupon’s revenue is from North America.\nAt the end of February, the company announced Q4 and2020 financial figures.Q4 revenue declined by 44% YoYto $343.1 million. Non-GAAP net income was $15.1 million, or 51 cents per diluted share. A year ago, the metrics had been $44.6 million, or $1.44 per diluted share. As of year-end, cash and equivalents recorded were $850.6 million. Management pointed out the adverse effects of the pandemic on the results.\nCFO Melissa Thomas stated, “The Groupon team continued to deliver improving financial results in the fourth quarter, including sequential adjusted EBITDA growth, positive free cash flow and a cash balance of $851 million.” Following the release of the results, the company held anearnings callin which they revealed 2021 guidance.\nAccordingly, for the full year of 2021, Groupon expects the recovery to be weighted toward the second half of the year. The company expects to generate between $930 million and $980 million revenue (vs. $1,417 million of 2020) and $100 million and $110 million adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) versus $49.8 million in 2020.\nGRPN’sforward P/Estands at 140.85. Potential investors would find better value below $40.\nTilray (TLRY)\n52-week range:$4.41 – $67.00\nYTD price change:104.12%\nCanada-based cannabis producerTilray has been in the limelight. In mid-December, the group announced an upcoming merger with another Canadian marijuana business,Aphria(NASDAQ:APHA). Dubai-based Yalla is a social networking and entertainment platform from the region. The company went public less than a year ago.\nOn March 15, Yala releasedfinancial figuresfor Q4 and FY 2020.Quarterly revenue was $48.3 million, representing a 150.9% YoY growth. The sanctions effectively draw a line under a period of investors waiting and guessing as to their timing and extent.\n‘Relief’\nVladimir Tikhomirov, chief economist at Moscow-based BCS Global Markets, told CNBC on Friday that some investors were relieved by the removal of uncertainty and fairly modest sanctions, which reduced the overall level of Russia-related investment risks.\nTikhomirov said the sovereign debt ban was the most significant of the new measures, but its impact was still limited.\n“However, given the current state of Russia’s budget (in 1Q21 the budget was in surplus), low level of sovereign debt, conservative fiscal policy and high volume of accumulated reserves the ban on new debt purchases is unlikely to have significant implications for the state of Russia’s finances or for the economy at large,” he said.\nLiam Peach, emerging markets economist at Capital Economics, agreed that the fallout will be limited unless the sanctions are extended to all sovereign debt, or Russia launches aggressive retaliation.\nCapital Economics estimates that the Russian government will issue 2.5 trillion rubles of bonds in 2021, equivalent to 2.7% of its GDP, to finance its deficit and roll over maturing debt. However, Peach anticipates that almost all debt will be issued in rubles and bought by Russian banks, limiting the impact of sanctions on new issuances.\nWhile past sanctions have tended to result in a prolonged premium on Russia’s dollar bonds and currency, the macro impact has been fairly limited, Peach highlighted in a research note Thursday.\n“This provides an anchor, but of course the impact will depend on what scale non-residents sell their holdings of outstanding debt,” he said.\n“Russian retaliation could consist of counter-sanctions or increased tensions with Ukraine but the key point is that the trend towards increased isolation will only grow further,” Peach noted.\nIs retaliation coming?\nTikhomirov said Russian investors do not expect retaliation by way of economic or financial measures, and therefore remain relatively sanguine about the implications on markets and the economy.\n“That said, the prime risk in this area is mainly political: as Russia is likely to retaliate by political moves these potentially could result in a further escalation in Russia-West relations, which, in turn, could trigger counteraction from the U.S. and its allies,” he said.\n“Such a scenario cannot but concern many investors, although hopes remain that Moscow will take the U.S. offer and will also make moves aimed at improving relations with the U.S. and the West in general.”\nEconomists broadly expect the Central Bank of Russia to hike interest rates next week. Peach projected that should the ruble come under significant pressure and the CBR develops worries about the inflation outlook, more aggressive monetary tightening can be expected. Capital Economics now expects a 50 basis point hike to 5%.\nMeanwhile Tikhomirov anticipates a 25 basis point hike to 4.75% and a possible additional 25-50bp hike later in the year, as policymakers track an acceleration in inflationary pressures rather than reacting to sanctions.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":9,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":147399910,"gmtCreate":1626332465830,"gmtModify":1631884903978,"author":{"id":"3576813955258325","authorId":"3576813955258325","name":"A68","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d209afa981c29a4dc34bd7c1c986fb4a","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"<a Surprisingly, though, only one pure-play genomics stock is in the top 100 most popular list on Robinhood. That lone ranger isBionano Genomics(NASDAQ:BNGO). The stock has been a major winner so far this year, with Bionano's shares vaulting 108% higher.
\n
Bionano had generated even bigger gains earlier in 2021. By mid-February, the stock had more than quintupled year to date.
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; In addition, Snap executives forecast that fourth-quarter revenue would grow at a rate of only about 19% to 20%, down from third-quarter growth of 57%.\nShares of Snap plunged more than 20% in after-hours trading, taking some of the biggest names in tech with it — Facebook Inc.,Alphabet Inc.,Twitter Inc. and Pinterest Inc. all saw their shares fall after the Snap news.\nFacebook, for example, has been warning about the effects of Apple’s changes for more than a year, most recently in September, but investors have yet to see much change to Facebook’s very profitable business model, even amid all the other controversies at the social-media giant.\nLast December, Facebook even launched a full-on PR assault on Apple, with full-page ads in three national newspapers, proclaiming that Apple’s then-upcoming changes would hurt the ability of small businesses to offer targeted advertising to consumers, and app developers’ ability to offer free content.\nBut Snap co-founder and Chief Executive Evan Spiegel — who has previously avoided aiming any specific attacks at Apple regarding the change — said Thursday that the privacy changes have proved more problematic than expected, specifically mentioning that Apple even changed the tools that advertisers have to measure results of their ads.\n“I think what we really underestimated were the tooling changes,” said Spiegel. “Advertisers have essentially for a long time now used a set of really sophisticated tools to measure and optimize their campaigns, so that allows them to test out a bunch of different creative and see what’s performing.”\nWith Apple’s changes, he said, those tools “were essentially rendered blind.”\nStill, Spiegel reined in his criticism of Apple, adding that these privacy changes were “important to the long-term health of the ecosystem” and something that “we fully support.”\nIn addition to Apple’s huge changes, the global supply chain and staffing problems are affecting the number of ads that companies are starting to run in the all-important holiday season.\n“[Advertisers] don’t necessarily want to accelerate the field of products that they are going to have a hard time getting into the hands of customers, and that is somewhat broad,” Snap Chief Business Officer Jeremi Gorman told analysts on Thursday’s post-earnings conference call.\nBut Snap executives added, in response to an analyst’s question, that the Apple changes were having the biggest impact and would affect the broader advertising ecosystem, as some companies have been warning about but not yet quantifying.\n“So what you’re seeing when we go into Q4 is a full-quarter impact of those issues, on Q4, and you know the reason that we’re mentioning, you know, iOS 15, is that that’s going to continue to disrupt the advertising ecosystem,” said Derek Anderson, Snap’s chief financial officer.\nFacebook, Google parent Alphabet and Twitter all report earnings next week, and investors will be able to gauge how widespread those issues are from their results, guidance and comments on company conference calls. If the outlook for the fourth quarter from any of those companies is as dismal as Snap’s, investors are likely to see a huge downdraft in internet ad companies. On Thursday, many investors were trying to get ahead of future bad news, which could even potentially impact the reported mega-merger talks between PayPal Holdings Inc. and Pinterest.\nIf Snap’s warning does prove to be applicable to its rivals, the next few weeks could spell an “ad-mageddon” for internet stocks and social-media companies.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":618,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":181271116,"gmtCreate":1623399253035,"gmtModify":1631885376414,"author":{"id":"3576813955258325","authorId":"3576813955258325","name":"A68","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d209afa981c29a4dc34bd7c1c986fb4a","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$TOP GLOVE CORPORATION BHD(BVA.SI)$㊗️顺利","listText":"$TOP GLOVE CORPORATION BHD(BVA.SI)$㊗️顺利","text":"$TOP GLOVE CORPORATION BHD(BVA.SI)$㊗️顺利","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6cc620d894381b1cf2da411c76922a60","width":"828","height":"1434"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/181271116","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":408,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
