Bristol Myers Squibb
\n
The consensus Wall Street price target for Bristol Myers Squibb (NYSE:BMY) reflects a premium of nearly 34% to the current share price. Of the 22 analysts surveyed by Refinitiv, the most pessimistic of the group thinks that the pharma stock could jump at least 10% higher.
\n
This bullishness might be somewhat surprising. BMS' top-selling product, Revlimid, faces generic competition beginning next year. The blood cancer drug generated 27% of the company's total revenue in the second quarter.
\n
So why do analysts like BMS so much? For one thing, that generic competition will only be in limited volumes at first thanks to contractual agreements. The company also has several other blockbusters with strong sales growth, notably including blood thinner Eliquis and cancer immunotherapies Opdivo and Yervoy.
\n
BMS' lineup is loaded with newer drugs with tremendous potential as well. Cancer cell therapies Abecma and Breyanzi along with multiple sclerosis and ulcerative colitis drug Zeposia especially stand out. Over the next few years, these and other drugs could help make up for anticipated sales declines for Revlimid.
\n
2. Sanofi
\n
Analysts look for an even better performance over the next 12 months from Sanofi (NASDAQ:SNY). The average price target for the French drugmaker is 35% above the current share price. The lowest target for Sanofi among the three analysts surveyed by Refinitiv expects the pharma stock to soar by at least 20%.
\n
Sanofi's partnership with Regeneron gives the company multiple growth drivers. Sales of Dupixent are skyrocketing and could pick up more momentum with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's new restrictions on JAK inhibitors. Cancer drug Libtayo continues to gain steam with additional approved indications.
\n
Regeneron isn't helping Sanofi on every front, though. The big drugmaker has several products of its own with strong sales growth, including rare blood disorder drug Cablivi, type 2 diabetes drug Soliqua, and its vaccines franchise.
\n
Investors also get an added bonus with Sanofi -- its dividend. The company's dividend yield currently tops 4%, which makes Sanofi one of the most attractive pharma stocks for income-seeking investors.
\n
3. Vertex Pharmaceuticals
\n
Wall Street is especially enthusiastic about the prospects for Vertex Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:VRTX). The consensus price target for the stock is nearly 41% above the current share price. Twenty-two of the 27 analysts surveyed by Refinitiv view Vertex as a buy or strong buy with the other two analysts recommending holding the stock.
\n
The primary reason behind this bullishness is Vertex's cystic fibrosis (CF) franchise. There are only four approved CF drugs in the U.S. and Europe that treat the underlying cause of the genetic disease. Vertex markets all of them. The company's CF drugs should be able to generate even higher sales as Vertex picks up additional reimbursement deals and regulatory approvals.
\n
Vertex could have a non-CF drug on the market in the not-too-distant future. The company is partnering with CRISPR Therapeutics to develop gene-editing therapy CTX001 in treating rare blood disorders beta-thalassemia and sickle cell disease. Vertex and CRISPR Therapeutics hope to be able to file for regulatory approvals as soon as 2023.
\n
Other pipeline candidates could also provide catalysts for the stock. Vertex expects to report results from a phase 2 study evaluating VX-147 in treating APOL1-mediated focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) later this year. Data from a phase 2 study of VX-548 in treating acute pain following bunionectomy surgery should be announced in early 2022.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 Big Pharma Stocks Wall Street Thinks Could Soar By At Least 30%
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 Big Pharma Stocks Wall Street Thinks Could Soar By At Least 30%\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-09-28 23:31 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Many investors like to buy shares of large drugmakers for the relative stability that they provide. Analyst revenue expectations have increased roughly 5% since January, with the current expectation at $42.48 billion, excluding traffic acquisitions costs, or TAC; with TAC, analysts model total revenue of $51.66 billion.
\n
Stifel analyst Scott Devitt wrote that his team expects another batch of strong results. He argued that third-party data and industry commentary suggest that paid search ads will benefit from retail and commerce spending, and some early rebounding travel dollars.
\n
In typical years, advertising company revenue shrinks in the first quarter, compared with the holidays. But this year, Devitt wrote the decline is expected to be less significant.
\n
Baird analyst Colin Sebastian wrote in a note that data collected by his team supports prospects for a strong online ad spending rebound through this year. According to his calculations, spending will increase 26% to just under $200 billion in the U.S. Alphabet is set to capture the most of, followed by Facebook (FB), and Amazon.com (AMZN).
\n
Snap reported better-than-forecast results for the first quarter last week, also supporting the idea that digital ad sales are rebounding quickly.
\n
MKM Partners analyst Rohit Kulkarni wrote that his team was “marginally cautious” in part because of the high expectations ahead of results. In the research note Kulkarni said his top questions include whether the company can accelerate YouTube revenue similar to other social media platforms. The consensus estimate for YouTube ad sales is $5.72 billion.
\n
In its fourth-quarter earnings, Alphabet broke out its cloud business as a separate reporting segment. Doing so gave investors the first opportunity to gauge its profitability, through its operating income or losses line item. Analysts had a mixed view of the operating losses it reported but it’s likely a positive sign the company started to make the disclosure.
\n
For the first quarter, analysts expect the company’s cloud computing segment to report revenue of $4.01 billion.
\n
Of the sell-side analysts that cover Alphabet, 95% rate shares a Buy, and 4.7% rate it a Hold. Analyst revenue expectations have increased roughly 5% since January, with the current expectation at $42.48 billion, excluding traffic acquisitions costs, or TAC; with TAC, analysts model total revenue of $51.66 billion.\nStifel analyst Scott Devitt wrote that his team expects another batch of strong results. He argued that third-party data and industry commentary suggest that paid search ads will benefit from retail and commerce spending, and some early rebounding travel dollars.\nIn typical years, advertising company revenue shrinks in the first quarter, compared with the holidays. But this year, Devitt wrote the decline is expected to be less significant.\nBaird analyst Colin Sebastian wrote in a note that data collected by his team supports prospects for a strong online ad spending rebound through this year. According to his calculations, spending will increase 26% to just under $200 billion in the U.S. Alphabet is set to capture the most of, followed by Facebook (FB), and Amazon.com (AMZN).\nSnap reported better-than-forecast results for the first quarter last week, also supporting the idea that digital ad sales are rebounding quickly.\nMKM Partners analyst Rohit Kulkarni wrote that his team was “marginally cautious” in part because of the high expectations ahead of results. In the research note Kulkarni said his top questions include whether the company can accelerate YouTube revenue similar to other social media platforms. The consensus estimate for YouTube ad sales is $5.72 billion.\nIn its fourth-quarter earnings, Alphabet broke out its cloud business as a separate reporting segment. Doing so gave investors the first opportunity to gauge its profitability, through its operating income or losses line item. Analysts had a mixed view of the operating losses it reported but it’s likely a positive sign the company started to make the disclosure.\nFor the first quarter, analysts expect the company’s cloud computing segment to report revenue of $4.01 billion.\nOf the sell-side analysts that cover Alphabet, 95% rate shares a Buy, and 4.7% rate it a Hold. There are no Sell ratings on the stock. The average target price is $2,509.44, which implies upside of 8.6%.\nAlphabet Class A shares closed up 0.4% to $2,309.93.
The S&P 500 and the Dow booked their third straight weekly gain, while the Nasdaq has climbed for two weeks in a row.
\n
What's driving the market?
\n
On Sunday, Powell said that the economy is going to start growing strongly in the second half of the year, but emphasized that that rebound shouldn't lead anyone to believe that the central bank would dial up interest rates in 2021.
\n
\"I think it's unlikely that we would raise rates anything like this year,\" Powell said during the \"60 minutes\" interview which was taped at the Fed's headquarters on Wednesday and aired Sunday evening.
\n
The Fed chief said the economy \"seems to be at an inflection point,\" with strong growth coming \"right now\" and the weakness caused by the coronavirus pandemic in the rearview mirror.
\n
Powell's comments come as Wall Street is positioning for the start of first-quarter corporate results, which could offer further clues about whether one of the market's biggest fears is coming to fruition: a too-hot economy and surge in inflation that compels policy makers to substantially raise rates and dial back accommodative policies sooner than expected.
\n
So far, Fed officials have said they expect a rise in inflation to be transitory and have repeatedly stated that they would be focused on ensuring that the labor market makes a full recovery before considering easing policy.
\n
As earnings season kicks off, \"I'm waiting to see how the market reacts,\" said Keith Lerner, chief market strategist for Truist Advisory Services. \"A lot has been priced in and the market is looking for earnings to confirm that that's the correct move. The hurdle rate for positive surprises has moved up.\"
\n
Lerner thinks the Fed will remain \"supportive\" and even if bond yields rise, the market should absorb the next leg higher as long as it isn't too steep.
\n
\"We've had a very gradual, but steady, low-volatility move to new highs,\" Lerner said in an interview. \"I still think the primary market trend is higher, but as we head into earnings, I suspect we start trading a little more rangebound. When the primary trend is higher, you don't want to worry about the hiccups.\"
\n
Some strategists fear, however, that stock valuations remain elevated despite uncertainties that include inflation and the tax regime.
\n
Stocks mostly ended at records last week and the Nasdaq Composite, after falling into correction in March --defined as a drop of at least 10% from a recent peak--stands less than 2% from its Feb. 12 all-time closing high. Gains for equity benchmarks have come despite concerns about out-of-control inflation and the possibility that President Joe Biden will raise the corporate tax rate to 28% from 21% to help fund his $2.4 trillion infrastructure proposal.
\n
\"The investment community is too upbeat in our opinion, not showing any concern for plausible tax increases being proposed by the Biden administration,\" wrote Citigroup research analysts, Tobias Levkovich, Lorraine Schmitt and Jennifer Stahmer, in a research note dated April 7.
\n
\"Indeed, all developments are perceived as positive news. Square
\n
Square (NYSE:SQ) isn't a name that needs much of an introduction. The company's roots are in turning smartphones into credit card readers for small proprietors typically ignored by payment middlemen. But it's evolved into so much more. Point-of-sale devices, customer relationship management tools, and even banking services are just some of the offerings now in Square's wheelhouse, and a key part of the reason revenue is expected to double this fiscal year compared to last year's top line. Earnings are projected to grow even more.
\n
That growth pace should cool beginning next year. But don't read too much into the slowdown. It's not a sign that the company's expansion is peaking. As Jefferies analyst Trevor Williams recently explained in regard to his new buy rating on Square, \"As the pace of disruptions within payments and the broader FinTech ecosystem increases, we believe that companies with a track record in product development and innovation ... offer the best protection against any obsolescence and are likely to outperform in the long run.\" That's Square to be sure.
\n
It's still going too. The latest of its lengthening list of product developments and innovations is the impending acquisition and eventual integration of buy-now-pay-later service Afterpay. Analysts are calling for revenue growth of 42% for fiscal 2022, which should, in turn, pump up per-share profits from $0.69 to $0.85. But many veteran investors seem to sense we're still overdue for a more serious correction. If we get one, it could easily drag all stocks lower. Most of the market's high-flying growth names appear particularly vulnerable.\nThere is a handful of growth stocks, however, with stories so scintillating that they're capable of transcending market-wide weakness. Here's a rundown of three of my favorite growth stocks from this rare grouping of prospects.\nImage source: Square.\n1. Square\nSquare (NYSE:SQ) isn't a name that needs much of an introduction. Earnings are projected to grow even more.\nThat growth pace should cool beginning next year. But don't read too much into the slowdown. It's not a sign that the company's expansion is peaking. As Jefferies analyst Trevor Williams recently explained in regard to his new buy rating on Square, \"As the pace of disruptions within payments and the broader FinTech ecosystem increases, we believe that companies with a track record in product development and innovation ... offer the best protection against any obsolescence and are likely to outperform in the long run.\" That's Square to be sure.\nIt's still going too. The latest of its lengthening list of product developments and innovations is the impending acquisition and eventual integration of buy-now-pay-later service Afterpay. This latest craze in consumer borrowing outside of conventional credit cards facilitated nearly $100 billion worth of commerce last year, according to forecasts from Allied Market Research. That figure is expected to reach nearly $4 trillion by 2030.\nAnd that's just one opportunity Square is addressing. Cryptocurrency is another. Small business loans are still another. That's impressive, but even more impressive is the fact that this stock is currently only priced at 13 times next year's expected profits.\n3. SolarEdge Technologies\nFinally, add SolarEdge Technologies (NASDAQ:SEDG) to your list of growth stocks you can feel good about stepping into right now, regardless of the backdrop.\nYes, solar panel subsidies are under attack here and abroad. It superficially bodes poorly for the industry and its top players like Israel's SolarEdge Technologies. But don't read too much into the rhetoric.\nSee, solar subsidy standoffs are nothing new, but more than that, the solar power industry is having something of a moment. He wrote that a combination of a survey of resellers and channel checks made him more confident that Microsoft can propel revenue across all three primary business segments, with strength in personal computer demand from both consumers and businesses, robust upgrade activity on server software, and continued strength in Azure as a result of “continued strong enterprise consumption growth.”","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":633,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":377455395,"gmtCreate":1619561622817,"gmtModify":1634211875856,"author":{"id":"3576021125565845","authorId":"3576021125565845","name":"Kuxn","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/735264c1e1b135b6b4b9925b858173c7","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":" [财迷] [财迷] ","listText":" [财迷] [财迷] ","text":"[财迷] [财迷]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/377455395","repostId":"2130522345","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2130522345","pubTimestamp":1619484161,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2130522345?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-04-27 08:42","market":"us","language":"en","title":"AMD earnings: Are data center owners ‘digesting’ or just not buying Intel chips?","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2130522345","media":"MarketWatch","summary":"AMD segment that includes data-center sales expected to almost triple in revenue after biggest rival's server sales declined.
