Yes, it's the online payment platform spun off by eBay in 2015. But it has grown into a fintech giant -- recently sporting a market value near $217 billion -- and now encompasses brands such as Venmo, Xoom, Honey, Paidy, Happy Returns, Hyperwallet, and more.
\n
PayPal recently sported 416 active consumer and merchant accounts, employed 27,700 workers, and processed nearly 37,000 payment transactions per minute -- for a total volume of about $1.2 trillion over a year.
\n
With a recent price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio near 44 and a price-to-sales ratio near 9, the stock doesn't look cheap, though it's more reasonably priced than many popular growth stocks these days. Waste Management
\n
Waste Management (NYSE:WM) has long tempted many investors -- while often seeming too richly valued. Meanwhile, though, over the past 10 years, the stock has surged some 572% (an annualized rate of 21%), assuming dividends were reinvested, and 472% without reinvesting dividends (which is 19%, annualized). Clearly, there's money in garbage.
\n
Waste Management is North America's premier trash collection and recycling business, offering everything from collection, transfer, and disposal services, to recycling and resource recovery. The company also owns and operates multiple landfill gas-to-energy facilities, making lots of lemonade from lemons. One of the great things about the company is its defensiveness. We're not likely to stop needing garbage and recycling services anytime soon, so its future seems assured.
\n
With a recent P/E ratio near 40, Waste Management's stock seems pricey, but a stock market pullback will render its shares more attractive.
\n
3. Roku
\n
Roku (NASDAQ:ROKU) has grown rapidly into a streaming giant, going from being mostly a hardware specialist to now offering lots of content, including original content. As of 2021's third quarter, the company boasted 56 million active accounts (up 23% year over year), 18 billion hours of streaming (up 21%), and $680 million in quarterly net revenue (up 51%). Management noted:
\n
\n While the pandemic has had different impacts on different parts of our business, the secular shift to streaming remains intact. Our Q4 outlook is for strong growth with total net revenue of $893 million at the midpoint (up 37% year-over-year), and total gross profit of $385 million at the midpoint (up 26% year-over-year).\n
\n
In a little over four years, Roku's stock has surged close to 800%, averaging annual growth of close to 70%. The stock is down 57% from its 52-week high as of this writing, but it still recently sported a price-to-sales ratio of 11 and a P/E ratio of 98, suggesting it's not exactly inexpensively priced yet. Still, some see the stock as a screaming buy. If you agree, consider buying some shares now -- or, better still, waiting for a market pullback.
\n
These are just a few of many great companies you might consider for your long-term portfolio. They have a product portfolio that's a little bit more skewed… to kind of middle and low-income households. And that's going to create an overhang for McCormick.”
\n
On the flip side, “Hershey [HSY] is well-positioned,” Spillane said, especially when it comes to the inflationary environment.
\n
“The combination of a category that's still growing very strongly where there's still a lot of product innovation and where there's been demonstrated pricing power, we think that Hershey is set up really well to be able to maybe even more than protect margins, maybe potentially grow margins as we cycle through some of this inflation,” he explained.
\n
BofA also awarded Stove Top stuffing-maker Kraft Heinz a buy rating with a $46 price objective.
\n
“We believe this is justified based our view that KHC is well positioned to capture growth associated with changing consumer demand patterns related to recessions and pantry stocking offset by higher than average debt levels,” the analysts wrote.
","source":"lsy1612507957220","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; (NAPA).\n\"We looked at companies’ exposure to the top Thanksgiving dishes: turkey, stuffing, dinner rolls, gravy, green bean casserole, potatoes, mac & cheese dessert and wine,\" the analysts stated. \"Overall CPB, GIS, KHC, CAG, MKC, HRL and NAPA are the most exposed. KHC and NAPA are our favorite stocks in this group.\"\nKey companies exposed to Thanksgiving meal trends. (Source: BofA)Thanksgiving 'center of the plate' items see more pricing power\nPeople appear to be gathering around the table again, the analysts stated, as data from social media conversations found mentions of \"vaccines\" on the rise while mentions of \"FaceTime,\" \"social distancing,\" and \"canceled\" declined. (\"Friendsgiving\" and \"day drinking\" also saw increases.)\nAnd whether consumers opt for turkey or ham, mashed potatoes or marshmallow-topped sweet potatoes, traditional orplant-based options, they're likely to pay more with inflation hitting food prices.\nThe American Farm Bureau Thanksgiving cost index projects a 14% year-over-year increase for 2021, led by a 24% increase in turkey prices.\n“When you look at more of the center of the plate sort of food items, typically, there has not historically been a lot of pricing power,” Bryan Spillane, a senior food and beverage analyst at BofA Global Research, told Yahoo Finance Live (video above). “But what's unusual this year is that there has been. Food companies, in particular, began raising prices the middle of the year, and there's virtually been no elasticity.”\nFrozen turkeys in Philadelphia, Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2021. (AP Photo/Matt Rourke)\nThat said, Spillane added, consumer behavior is expected to change at some point.\n“Something that we're really watching as we move into next year is: At what point does the consumer begin to push back and do we begin to see some trading down or other behavior that demonstrates that consumers are feeling that pinch?” Spillane said.\nInvestor appetite for food and beverage companies\nThe top company with the most upside or downside potential is Campbell's, which BofA gave an \"underperform\" rating.\n“Campbell's struggling from a few issues,” Spillane said. “One is they are experiencing a material amount of inflation. They have a product portfolio that's a little bit more skewed… to kind of middle and low-income households. So, that's, maybe, an area where there may be some sensitivity around passing those prices through.”\nThe iconic soup company also has a lot of direct and indirect exposure to labor shortages and higher labor costs, Spillane added.\nCans of Campbell's Soup are displayed in a supermarket in New York City, U.S. February 15, 2017. REUTERS/Brendan McDermid\nBofA also gave seasoning-maker McCormick & Company an \"underperform\" rating, with an $84 price target.\nMcCormick is “still trading at a premium valuation,” Spillane said, adding that while it has benefitted from people having cooked at home more in the last 18 months, “at some point, as things moderate, you're going to see less of that cooking at home behavior. And that's going to create an overhang for McCormick.”\nOn the flip side, “Hershey [HSY] is well-positioned,” Spillane said, especially when it comes to the inflationary environment.\n“The combination of a category that's still growing very strongly where there's still a lot of product innovation and where there's been demonstrated pricing power, we think that Hershey is set up really well to be able to maybe even more than protect margins, maybe potentially grow margins as we cycle through some of this inflation,” he explained.\nBofA also awarded Stove Top stuffing-maker Kraft Heinz a buy rating with a $46 price objective.\n“We believe this is justified based our view that KHC is well positioned to capture growth associated with changing consumer demand patterns related to recessions and pantry stocking offset by higher than average debt levels,” the analysts wrote.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":572,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":875444213,"gmtCreate":1637681609289,"gmtModify":1637681609391,"author":{"id":"3574817325947403","authorId":"3574817325947403","name":"tangtkh","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d9ad77ea495b2bbbfb9c10734b6f2fb0","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like pls","listText":"Like pls","text":"Like pls","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/875444213","repostId":"1144748203","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1144748203","pubTimestamp":1637680116,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1144748203?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-11-23 23:08","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Retail Traders Jump Back Into Tiny Biotechs Ahead of Holiday","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1144748203","media":"Bloomberg","summary":"(Bloomberg) -- Two tiny biotechs, ISpecimen Inc. and Longeveron Inc., are the latest to see their st","content":"
(Bloomberg) -- Two tiny biotechs, ISpecimen Inc. and Longeveron Inc., are the latest to see their stocks more than double in a social media-fueled frenzy ahead of a U.S. trading holiday.
\n
ISpecimen more than doubled in Tuesday’s premarket session and was up 95% at 9:28 a.m. More than 12 million shares traded hands before the bell, surprising for a stock with a float of less than 500,000 shares, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. It will also no doubt highlight a few run-for-hills scenarios like what we saw after a few October big tech earnings releases that fell short of expectations. But let's focus on the positives this month.
\n
Two markets should be on the radar of every investor. And the news about innovation, revenue outlooks, and adopting an attitude that the \"future is now\" all offer the potential to produce millionaires out of even the most average investors if they are willing to take a long-term approach.
\n
With all that in mind, here are three predictions about November markets.
\n
1. The market opportunity in EVs and self-driving technology will climb higher
\n
It's easy to see the long-term growth potential in the automotive market as it relates to electric vehicles (EVs). Automakers like Tesla are an obvious example. But also Chargepoint Holdings, which is building out the largest EV charging network in the world, and my favorite turnaround play, BlackBerry, with its increasingly popular QNX operating system for EVs. As earnings results come out this month and an initial public offering from electric truck maker Rivian launches next week, the EV hype is likely to heat up further in November.
\n
Supply chain constraints have raised concerns throughout the automotive market this year because, without the necessary raw materials and parts, particularly semiconductors, unfinished vehicles are left sitting waiting for components. In May it was expected that we would see a shortfall of 3.9 million vehicles produced this year. That number was revised upward in September to 7.7 million, and it's expected to cost automakers an estimated $210 billion this year.
\n
But delays present opportunities. Eventually, the supply chain will correct itself, though it may take until early 2023. In these uncertain times, companies that best manage costs, optimize the resources available, and stay on the planned path toward growth will reward investors.
\n
Take Ford (NYSE:F), for example. The company posted third-quarter results on Oct. 27, beating consensus estimates by 9.8% and 89% on quarterly revenue and earnings, respectively. It also raised its full-year revenue guidance by 15%, and topped off its report with news of a reinstated quarterly dividend of $0.10 per share to take effect on Dec. 1.
\n
During the earnings call, Ford management stated that although supply constraints continue, the third quarter was better than the previous quarter in terms of resource availability. This points toward growth even in the face of supply headwinds, powered by an ongoing revolution in the EV market. Analysts project the EV market to progress at a compound annual growth rate of 24.3% through 2028.
\n
2. The metaverse will see big gains virtually and market-wise
\n
Running parallel with the growth in the material world of electric and autonomous vehicles is the digital world of virtual and augmented reality known as the metaverse. The companies driving the future of the metaverse can be found in the holdings of the Roundhill Ball Metaverse ETF (NYSEMKT:META).
\n
Our kids may be more familiar with the metaverse than we are. It's evidenced in numerous video console games such as Fortnite, Minecraft, and Flight Sim, where players create virtual worlds, interacting with each other in these metaverse creations.
\n
Microsoft announced earlier this week that it intends to expand on its Microsoft Teams package by developing metaverse technology for collaboration using 3D avatars that represent meeting attendees who are present but would rather not be on camera. Eventually this will either coincide or compete with developments by Meta Platforms (formerly known as Facebook) as it rebrands and expands its offerings along the same lines.
\n
For long-term investors, these trends create an almost no-lose scenario. As advancements in technology take us into the future, demand will swell and revenue will be generated. And it will most likely be multiple companies reaping the benefits.
\n
Investors looking to benefit from it all may be well served by the Roundhill Ball Metaverse ETF. It was launched on June 30, and it is quickly gaining trading volume. As of August, the ETF had $50 million in assets under management (AUM). By September, AUM doubled to $100 million. Today, the number sits at $176 million, while trading volume in the ETF has also risen. The average daily volume is at 300,000, while more recently it has seen daily volume exceeding 1 million shares on select days.
\n
Its top 10 holdings are an impressive list: Nvidia, Microsoft, Roblox, Meta Platforms, Unity Software, Immersion Corp., Autodesk, Sea Limited, Amazon, and Tencent Holdings.
\n
I wouldn't be surprised to see the average 20-day daily volume double by the end of this month, combined with a 10% gain in the ETF share price for November.
\n
3. Apple is still fresh and its stock will top 52-week highs
\n
The intelligent EV market and the metaverse intersect in what has become a staple company and foundational portfolio stock: Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL). According to multiple sources, Apple is developing eyeglasses for the metaverse, while also working on self-driving technology and electric mobility to serve the vehicular market while potentially developing a self-driving car of its own.
\n
The future of our technology world is upon us, and November could be a pivotal entry point for investors into many of these stocks that will provide big gains for years to come.
\n
When Apple came out with a miss on quarterly revenue at the end of October, management noted that supply constraints impacted the company at a cost of $6 billion. But one thing that seems to keep getting overlooked during these earnings conference calls is that Apple's revenue continues to climb year over year regardless of whether the consensus estimates are accurate or overblown.
\n
The company continues to benefit greatly from iPhone sales, but unit sales no longer make up even half of its total revenue. Per Statista, from 2012 to now, Apple has seen iPhone sales decline from 51% of total revenue to 49%. Meanwhile, services revenue has grown from 6.5% to 21%. The gross margin on services is now 60%, whereas iPhone profit margin is closer to 35%. So as the company generates more services offerings, and innovative technology progresses, the dust will settle from concerns over supply constraints and a revenue miss, and a clearer picture will emerge.
\n
My November prediction is that Apple stock will top its 52-week high of $157.26 a share.
\n
Seeing the forest through the trees
\n
October was a month of volatility and concern over supply constraints and earnings warnings. But when those warnings lead to nervous selling based on short-term what-ifs and fear of the unknown, the long-term investor is provided with an opportunity. And if history repeats itself, this November will provide the springboard to that opportunity. The S&P 500 average return is 1.57% in the month of November, with 29 of the past 40 Novembers being in positive territory, led by 2020 at 11.8% -- the best November in history.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 Biggest Stock Market Predictions for November
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 Biggest Stock Market Predictions for November\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-11-07 09:00 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
November could offer an excellent entry point for many investors who may have been waiting for confidence-boosting earnings releases. It's evidenced in numerous video console games such as Fortnite, Minecraft, and Flight Sim, where players create virtual worlds, interacting with each other in these metaverse creations.\nMicrosoft announced earlier this week that it intends to expand on its Microsoft Teams package by developing metaverse technology for collaboration using 3D avatars that represent meeting attendees who are present but would rather not be on camera. Eventually this will either coincide or compete with developments by Meta Platforms (formerly known as Facebook) as it rebrands and expands its offerings along the same lines.\nFor long-term investors, these trends create an almost no-lose scenario. As advancements in technology take us into the future, demand will swell and revenue will be generated. And it will most likely be multiple companies reaping the benefits.\nInvestors looking to benefit from it all may be well served by the Roundhill Ball Metaverse ETF. It was launched on June 30, and it is quickly gaining trading volume. As of August, the ETF had $50 million in assets under management (AUM). By September, AUM doubled to $100 million. Today, the number sits at $176 million, while trading volume in the ETF has also risen. The average daily volume is at 300,000, while more recently it has seen daily volume exceeding 1 million shares on select days.\nIts top 10 holdings are an impressive list: Nvidia, Microsoft, Roblox, Meta Platforms, Unity Software, Immersion Corp., Autodesk, Sea Limited, Amazon, and Tencent Holdings.\nI wouldn't be surprised to see the average 20-day daily volume double by the end of this month, combined with a 10% gain in the ETF share price for November.\n3. Apple is still fresh and its stock will top 52-week highs\nThe intelligent EV market and the metaverse intersect in what has become a staple company and foundational portfolio stock: Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL). According to multiple sources, Apple is developing eyeglasses for the metaverse, while also working on self-driving technology and electric mobility to serve the vehicular market while potentially developing a self-driving car of its own.\nThe future of our technology world is upon us, and November could be a pivotal entry point for investors into many of these stocks that will provide big gains for years to come.\nWhen Apple came out with a miss on quarterly revenue at the end of October, management noted that supply constraints impacted the company at a cost of $6 billion. But one thing that seems to keep getting overlooked during these earnings conference calls is that Apple's revenue continues to climb year over year regardless of whether the consensus estimates are accurate or overblown.\nThe company continues to benefit greatly from iPhone sales, but unit sales no longer make up even half of its total revenue. So as the company generates more services offerings, and innovative technology progresses, the dust will settle from concerns over supply constraints and a revenue miss, and a clearer picture will emerge.\nMy November prediction is that Apple stock will top its 52-week high of $157.26 a share.\nSeeing the forest through the trees\nOctober was a month of volatility and concern over supply constraints and earnings warnings. But when those warnings lead to nervous selling based on short-term what-ifs and fear of the unknown, the long-term investor is provided with an opportunity. And if history repeats itself, this November will provide the springboard to that opportunity. The S&P 500 average return is 1.57% in the month of November, with 29 of the past 40 Novembers being in positive territory, led by 2020 at 11.8% -- the best November in history.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":747,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":854134850,"gmtCreate":1635427217596,"gmtModify":1635427217896,"author":{"id":"3574817325947403","authorId":"3574817325947403","name":"tangtkh","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d9ad77ea495b2bbbfb9c10734b6f2fb0","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Bakkt Holdings, Inc.(BKKT)$Look good potential ","listText":"$Bakkt Holdings, Inc.(BKKT)$Look good potential ","text":"$Bakkt Holdings, Inc.(BKKT)$Look good potential","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/464951e72f2f7804604f1ca8ff53f13d","width":"1080","height":"3528"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/854134850","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":386,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":854136187,"gmtCreate":1635427062106,"gmtModify":1635427062392,"author":{"id":"3574817325947403","authorId":"3574817325947403","name":"tangtkh","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d9ad77ea495b2bbbfb9c10734b6f2fb0","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like and comment pls ","listText":"Like and comment pls ","text":"Like and comment pls","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/854136187","repostId":"2178250096","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2178250096","pubTimestamp":1635426252,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2178250096?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-10-28 21:04","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 Pharma Stocks You Can Buy and Hold Forever","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2178250096","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Which companies of today will stand the test of time? They're able to invest billions of dollars in the research and development necessary to remain relevant over the long term.
\n
We asked three Motley Fool contributors which pharma stocks they think are ones that you can buy and hold forever. Here's why they picked Bristol Myers Squibb (NYSE:BMY), Pfizer (NYSE:PFE), and Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ).
\n
You can sleep easy with this drugmaker
\n
Prosper Junior Bakiny (Bristol Myers Squibb): Finding businesses that can stand the test of time is a challenging task. An excellent place to start is by looking at those companies that have been around a while. Pharma giant Bristol Myers Squibb fits the bill. This drugmaker's history dates back to well over 100 years, making it part of a very exclusive clique. But the past is the past, and it isn't necessarily indicative of what will happen in the future.
\n
Fortunately, there are more than enough reasons to believe Bristol Myers still has many lucrative years ahead. Consider the company's lineup of drugs, which features no less than eight blockbuster products. That's impressive, and most of these drugs are still growing their revenue by double-digit percentages. The company's top three medicines, multiple myeloma drug Revlimid, anticoagulant Eliquis, and cancer drug Opdivo, increased their sales by 11%, 29%, and 16% year over year, respectively, during the second quarter.
\n
It is also worth looking at Bristol Myers' pipeline, which boasts more than 50 clinical compounds in development and dozens of ongoing clinical trials. Regulatory wins are practically routine for this pharma giant. Thanks to label expansions and new approvals, it can replenish its lineup of drugs as patent protection runs out on older products.
\n
This dynamic ensures that Bristol Myers will continue growing its revenue and earnings at a good clip. That's good news for its stock performance, and it will also help it maintain its good dividend record. The company currently offers a yield of 3.39% -- much higher than the S&P 500's yield of 1.38%. Bristol Myers has increased its dividends by 19.5% in the past three years, and with a conservative cash payout ratio of 36.3%, it can afford aggressive dividend hikes.
\n
Bristol Myers' shares are currently dirt cheap, trading at just 7.8 times forward earnings, compared to a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 13.3 for the pharma industry. At these levels, Bristol Myers looks like a screaming buy. And while there will undoubtedly be bumps along the way, investors who stick it out and hold the company's shares for a while will be handsomely rewarded.
\n
Pfizer is much more than just a COVID-19 stock
\n
David Jagielski: Pfizer expects to generate $33.5 billion this year just from its COVID-19 vaccine. And given that the pandemic still doesn't look to be over, there's little doubt that the vaccine will bring in more money for the business beyond 2021. However, Pfizer has a lot more to offer investors than just its vaccine.
\n
In its second-quarter results, Pfizer's sales grew 86% to $19 billion largely due to COVID-19 vaccine sales. Even if you factor out vaccine sales, the business still grew at a rate of 10% as the company has many fast-growing drugs in its portfolio. Sales of its heart disease medication, Vyndaqel and Vyndamax, rose by 81% in Q2 to $501 million. Cancer drug Inlyta generated revenue growth of 32% to $257 million. Even Eliquis, which prevents blood clots and is one of Pfizer's top-selling drugs, grew at a solid rate of 16% to just under $1.5 billion.
\n
Investors can expect a lot more growth from Pfizer moving forward. In August, the company announced a $2.3 billion acquisition of immuno-oncology company Trillium Therapeutics, which will advance its hematology pipeline. As of July 28, Pfizer had 100 programs in its pipeline, 22 of which were in phase 3 trials and 10 that were in the process of registration. The company also recently announced that it would begin trials of an mRNA-based flu vaccine.
\n
But as promising as all this is, even more opportunities will undoubtedly open up for Pfizer to expand its pipeline. With more than $20 billion in free cash flow over the past 12 months and the company sitting on another $22 billion in cash and short-term investments, Pfizer is in an excellent position to invest in its business for the long haul, which includes potentially taking on more acquisitions.
\n
Any new deals will complement an already strong business. Today, Pfizer runs an efficient operation, banking 24% of revenue as profit over the past 12 months. On top of all that, it also pays a dividend yield of 3.6% that is well above the S&P 500 average of less than 1.3%.
\n
There's a lot to like about Pfizer's business, which is why this is an easy stock to buy and hold for the rest of your life.
\n
Think big, big, big
\n
Keith Speights (Johnson & Johnson): Johnson & Johnson isn't just a big pharma stock. It's also a big consumer-health stock and a big medical-device stock. Each of J&J's three business segments is a multibillion-dollar business that ranks among the global leaders in their respective markets.
\n
However, the pharmaceuticals segment is Johnson & Johnson's biggest business. It's the company's strongest growth driver as well, generating nearly 70% of J&J's total revenue growth in the third quarter.
\n
Johnson & Johnson's diversification and size give it unmatched stability in the healthcare sector. The company claims a whopping 28 platforms or products that made at least $1 billion in sales last year. Roughly 70% of its sales come from products with a No. 1 or No. 2 market share worldwide.
\n
The healthcare giant should make in the ballpark of $93 billion this year. Its adjusted profits could easily top $25 billion. That gives Johnson & Johnson the financial flexibility to invest heavily in research and development, and strategic acquisitions. Its pharmaceutical pipeline includes 58 key late-stage programs.
\n
J&J still has plenty of cash left over to fund its dividend program as well. The company reigns as a Dividend King with 59 consecutive years of dividend increases.
\n
Since its founding in 1886, Johnson & Johnson has weathered many crises. This big healthcare leader should have staying power for the future, too.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 Pharma Stocks You Can Buy and Hold Forever
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 Pharma Stocks You Can Buy and Hold Forever\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-10-28 21:04 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Which companies of today will stand the test of time? piling into technology stocks.
\n
Intel's announcement of plans to take its self-driving car unit Mobileye public in the United States next year pushed his shares to a 3% gain and cheered chip investors across the board.
\n
The Philadelphia SE Semiconductor index closed up 4.97% after hitting a near <a risky bets last week.
\n
Before market open, British drugmaker GSK said an antibody-based COVID-19 therapy it is developing with Vir Biotechnology was effective against all mutations of the Omicron variant.
\n
That news added to the relief rally along with infectious disease official Anthony Fauci's comment on Tuesday that preliminary evidence indicates while Omicron likely has a higher degree of transmissibility, it appears to be less severe. Fauci had made similar comments on Sunday.
\n
\"A week ago we saw a big scare because of Omicron and over the following week it appeared to be very contagious but less severe than people were worried about,\" said Peter Tuz, president of Chase Investment Counsel in Charlottesville, Virginia.
\n
Michael James, managing director of equity trading at Wedbush Securities in Los Angeles, said the Glaxosmithkline headline was already \"instrumental to people's sentiment.\"
\n
He also cited the Intel news and investor bets that the market would see its traditional December boost, known as the Santa Claus rally.
\n
\"There's certainly fears of missing out on the Santa Claus rally,\" said James. \"It's a bigger picture risk-on mentality that's taking hold today.\"
\n
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 492.4 points, or 1.4%, to 35,719.43, the S&P 500 gained 95.08 points, or 2.07%, to 4,686.75 and the Nasdaq Composite added 461.76 points, or 3.03%, to 15,686.92.
\n
The CBOE volatility index , often referred to the Wall Street fear gauge, eased from a more than 10-month high last week. It hasn't done so in a straight line, though, as it has pulled back to a small or great degree every few years. All investors need to expect that there will be occasional stock market corrections and crashes -- which can last a few months or a few years. That's why you should never invest in stocks with short-term money.
\n
It's worth keeping some cash on hand for such downturns, as many great stocks will be on offer at discounted prices. Here are three stocks you might consider adding to your portfolio when there's a market pullback.
\n
\n
1. PayPal
\n
PayPal (NASDAQ:PYPL) is more than you probably think it is.
Regardless, a pullback in price will be welcome for investors who see PayPal as having a very promising future.
\n
It hasn't done so in a straight line, though, as it has pulled back to a small or great degree every few years. All investors need to expect that there will be occasional stock market corrections and crashes -- which can last a few months or a few years. That's why you should never invest in stocks with short-term money.\nIt's worth keeping some cash on hand for such downturns, as many great stocks will be on offer at discounted prices. Here are three stocks you might consider adding to your portfolio when there's a market pullback.\nImage source: Getty Images.\n1. PayPal\nPayPal (NASDAQ:PYPL) is more than you probably think it is. Yes, it's the online payment platform spun off by eBay in 2015. But it has grown into a fintech giant -- recently sporting a market value near $217 billion -- and now encompasses brands such as Venmo, Xoom, Honey, Paidy, Happy Returns, Hyperwallet, and more.\nPayPal recently sported 416 active consumer and merchant accounts, employed 27,700 workers, and processed nearly 37,000 payment transactions per minute -- for a total volume of about $1.2 trillion over a year.\nWith a recent price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio near 44 and a price-to-sales ratio near 9, the stock doesn't look cheap, though it's more reasonably priced than many popular growth stocks these days. Regardless, a pullback in price will be welcome for investors who see PayPal as having a very promising future.\n2. Waste Management\nWaste Management (NYSE:WM) has long tempted many investors -- while often seeming too richly valued. Meanwhile, though, over the past 10 years, the stock has surged some 572% (an annualized rate of 21%), assuming dividends were reinvested, and 472% without reinvesting dividends (which is 19%, annualized). Clearly, there's money in garbage.\nWaste Management is North America's premier trash collection and recycling business, offering everything from collection, transfer, and disposal services, to recycling and resource recovery. The company also owns and operates multiple landfill gas-to-energy facilities, making lots of lemonade from lemons. One of the great things about the company is its defensiveness. We're not likely to stop needing garbage and recycling services anytime soon, so its future seems assured.\nWith a recent P/E ratio near 40, Waste Management's stock seems pricey, but a stock market pullback will render its shares more attractive.\n3. Roku\nRoku (NASDAQ:ROKU) has grown rapidly into a streaming giant, going from being mostly a hardware specialist to now offering lots of content, including original content. As of 2021's third quarter, the company boasted 56 million active accounts (up 23% year over year), 18 billion hours of streaming (up 21%), and $680 million in quarterly net revenue (up 51%). Management noted:\n\n While the pandemic has had different impacts on different parts of our business, the secular shift to streaming remains intact. Our Q4 outlook is for strong growth with total net revenue of $893 million at the midpoint (up 37% year-over-year), and total gross profit of $385 million at the midpoint (up 26% year-over-year).\n\nIn a little over four years, Roku's stock has surged close to 800%, averaging annual growth of close to 70%. The stock is down 57% from its 52-week high as of this writing, but it still recently sported a price-to-sales ratio of 11 and a P/E ratio of 98, suggesting it's not exactly inexpensively priced yet. Still, some see the stock as a screaming buy. If you agree, consider buying some shares now -- or, better still, waiting for a market pullback.\nThese are just a few of many great companies you might consider for your long-term portfolio.
