They are slightly smaller player than Visa in a market that has very high barriers to entry.</p>\n<p><b>Hall:</b> Yeah.</p>\n<p><b>Frankel:</b> There are four big players in payment processing; Visa, Mastercard, <b>American Express</b> (NYSE:AXP), <b>Discover</b> (NYSE:DFS). Visa and Mastercard combined for I think over 80% of the market don't quote me on that, but I think it's up there.</p>\n<p><b>Hall:</b> It's high.</p>\n<p><b>Frankel:</b> I bet you can't tell me who number five is.</p>\n<p><b>Hall:</b> Not outside of China. I think that's important to point out as we're speaking outside of China because there are some pretty big payment processors inside China.</p>\n<p><b>Frankel:</b> There are and in some foreign markets there are big ones, but in the U.S. there are four. I don't even know if there is a number five. If I were going to start a new business today, I would accept those four credit cards. Some parts of Latin America for example, you have to have cash in a lot of places still, and these are markets where Visa and Mastercard do have a presence. The credit card economy hasn't been built out to that point or debit cards for that matter. In a lot of these foreign markets, there is still a lot of room for these to grow. (BB.T), AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AMC\">$(AMC)$</a>, Nokia Corp. (NOKIA.HE) and GameStop Corp. <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/GME\">$(GME)$</a>.)</p>\n<p><b>Short squeezes and meme stocks</b></p>\n<p>Traders looking to group together on social media to make quick killings by pushing up share prices of companies at early stages or those going through difficult times have been setting up short squeezes.</p>\n<p>Professional investors have traditionally short-sold shares of companies they believe will perform worse than most other investors or analysts expect. Shorting means borrowing a company's shares and selling them immediately, in the hope of buying them back at a lower price, returning them to the lender and pocketing the difference. If you simply buy a stock hoping it will go up, all you risk is the money you invest. You might get wiped out. But if you short a stock, your risk potential is unlimited. You never know how high the price might rise if you have gotten the trade wrong.</p>\n<p>\"Covering\" a short position is when you buy back the shares to return them to the investor who lent them to you. You are hoping to cover at a lower price than you sold the shares for, to make a profit.</p>\n<p>To have a short position, you need to have a margin account with a broker -- an account that lets you borrow to invest or trade. Because of the risk in taking a short position, if the share price goes against you (higher), your broker will keep increasing its collateral requirements. If you run out of cash as the price keeps rising, you will be forced to cover at a loss. That type of action among a large group of short-sellers pushes the price higher in a spiral -- a short squeeze.</p>\n<p><b>Six more meme stocks</b></p>\n<p>The action changes daily. On June 9, for example, shares of Clover Health Investments Corp. <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/CLOV\">$(CLOV)$</a> fell 24% after rising 86% the day before. It's the smaller of the two and I think too many people look at it and say, well, OK, that just means it can get bigger, faster because it's smaller.</p>\n<p>But the bottom line is, I think the bigger opportunity of these two for Mastercard is this is the company that pivoted more toward particularly the business-to-business payments sooner. It's certainly invested more in building out that part of its business. It's still early to really see how that's going to pay out. But it has some advantages and the fact that it moves faster there. I think that could be advantageous and that alone for me was enough reason to rank it higher than Visa.</p>\n<p><b>Matt Frankel:</b> I would agree with that. I think Mastercard has done a generally better job at innovating. They are slightly smaller player than Visa in a market that has very high barriers to entry.</p>\n<p><b>Hall:</b> Yeah.</p>\n<p><b>Frankel:</b> There are four big players in payment processing; Visa, Mastercard, <b>American Express</b> (NYSE:AXP), <b>Discover</b> (NYSE:DFS). Visa and Mastercard combined for I think over 80% of the market don't quote me on that, but I think it's up there.</p>\n<p><b>Hall:</b> It's high.</p>\n<p><b>Frankel:</b> I bet you can't tell me who number five is.</p>\n<p><b>Hall:</b> Not outside of China. I think that's important to point out as we're speaking outside of China because there are some pretty big payment processors inside China.</p>\n<p><b>Frankel:</b> There are and in some foreign markets there are big ones, but in the U.S. there are four. I don't even know if there is a number five. If I were going to start a new business today, I would accept those four credit cards. It's the smaller of the two and I think too many people look at it and say, well, OK, that just means it can get bigger, faster because it's smaller.\nBut the bottom line is, I think the bigger opportunity of these two for Mastercard is this is the company that pivoted more toward particularly the business-to-business payments sooner. It's certainly invested more in building out that part of its business. It's still early to really see how that's going to pay out. But it has some advantages and the fact that it moves faster there. I think that could be advantageous and that alone for me was enough reason to rank it higher than Visa.\nMatt Frankel: I would agree with that. I think Mastercard has done a generally better job at innovating. First of all, the ES8 has more legroom and headroom than the Model X, it also has a luxurious interior, and it comes with three different battery packages that could last from 415 kilometers to 580 kilometers on a single charge.</p>\n<p>All of the ES8 SUVs include a proprietary operating system, have advanced navigation software, and most importantly cost ~$70,000 per vehicle in China, which is below the cost of Tesla's Model X, which comes at a price tag of ~$110,000 per vehicle in the region. We believe that this pricing advantage will undoubtedly help NIO to outsell Tesla in the SUV segment, especially since its cars now could bepurchasedat a discount thanks to the new Chinese subsidy program.</p>\n<p>Another uniqueness of NIO is its battery as a service business model, which allows its customers to swap their batteries in various swapping stations around China if they don't want to charge their cars or are in a hurry. After recently deploying the second version of its Power Swap stations, the swapping of batteries is now done in under three minutes, which is the same as refueling a traditional ICE car, and a single station now could perform up to 312 battery swaps in a single day. NIO now has a network of charging stations across all of China and if the solid-state batteries won't be available by the end of the decade at scale, then the idea of swapping batteries on the go will remain a viable business model in the long run.</p>\n<p>Going forward, NIO plans to accelerate its deliveries this month in order to meet its Q2 goal of delivering 21,000 to 22,000 vehicles, which represents a growth of 103% Y/Y to 113% Y/Y and plans to generate $1.24 to $1.29 billion in revenues during the period. Despite the semiconductor shortages, NIO already managed to increase its deliveries in April and May to 7,102 vehicles and 6,711 vehicles, respectively, which represents a growth of 125% Y/Y and 95.3% Y/Y, respectively. On top of that, NIO is also on track to deliver 90,000 to 100,000 vehicles this year.</p>\n<p>Considering this, there's every reason to believe that NIO will continue to be a dominant player in the Chinese EV market and a leader of the luxury EV segment in the region.
