- Singapore's labour market continued to recover in May, latest figures from the Ministry of Manpower showed on Thursday (July 1).\nThe resident unemployment rate, which covers Singapore citizens and permanent residents, fell for the seventh consecutive month. It declined to 3.8 per cent, from 3.9 per cent in the preceding month.\nMeanwhile, unemployment among Singapore citizens also dropped to 4.0 per cent, from 4.1 per cent previously.\nThe overall unemployment rate fell to 2.8 per cent, from 2.9 per cent in April.\nAbout 88,600 residents were unemployed in May, including 79,000 citizens. This is down from the 92,100 unemployed residents, including 82,800 citizens, in April.\nSingapore's unemployment rates peaked in September last year and persisted through October, before falling steadily since November.\nThe downward trend of unemployment ratesis a good sign that the labour market is steadily improving, said Manpower Minister Tan See Leng.\n\"However, we remain cautiously optimistic about the situation as we continue to see resurgence of the virus globally and have also yet to see the full impact of phase two (heightened alert) restrictions, which began in mid-May,\" said Dr Tan in a Facebook post on Thursday.\nHe added that the road to recovery may be a long one.\n\"As we restructure and rejuvenate our economy so that we can create good jobs, I urge businesses to tap on available support such as the Jobs Growth Incentive to expand local hiring, as well as existing schemes to innovate and transform their work processes,\" he said. \"At the same time, I want to encourage our jobseekers, who have continuously shown resilience and willingness to try out new roles and sectors during this difficult time.\"\nJobseekers who need help with their job search can approach Workforce Singapore and the National Trades Union Congress' Employment and Employability Institute.\nMOM and WSG will continue to work with the various economic agencies to create new opportunities and match workers to them, said Dr Tan. \"Together, we will press on, towards the road of recovery.\"","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":269,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":321749010,"gmtCreate":1615472764830,"gmtModify":1703489560542,"author":{"id":"3573255691210324","authorId":"3573255691210324","name":"weeleong","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3573255691210324","idStr":"3573255691210324"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"iskimoeskimobeskimo","listText":"iskimoeskimobeskimo","text":"iskimoeskimobeskimo","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/321749010","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":346,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":321060253,"gmtCreate":1615385793972,"gmtModify":1703488243714,"author":{"id":"3573255691210324","authorId":"3573255691210324","name":"weeleong","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3573255691210324","idStr":"3573255691210324"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"ndjdkdkslsllslslslsllslalalzbxvxhxhxhx","listText":"ndjdkdkslsllslslslsllslalalzbxvxhxhxhx","text":"ndjdkdkslsllslslslsllslalalzbxvxhxhxhx","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/321060253","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":312,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":320467878,"gmtCreate":1615169159794,"gmtModify":1703485122387,"author":{"id":"3573255691210324","authorId":"3573255691210324","name":"weeleong","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3573255691210324","idStr":"3573255691210324"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"toolitooda","listText":"toolitooda","text":"toolitooda","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/320467878","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":232,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":367041150,"gmtCreate":1614898458470,"gmtModify":1703482635747,"author":{"id":"3573255691210324","authorId":"3573255691210324","name":"weeleong","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3573255691210324","idStr":"3573255691210324"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"id What Investors Want to See.","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1171414372","media":"Barrons","summary":"As Warren Buffett prepares to put the finishing touches on his eagerly awaited annual letter toBerks","content":"
As Warren Buffett prepares to put the finishing touches on his eagerly awaited annual letter toBerkshire Hathawayshare holders, the CEO has much to address.

They include the underperformance of Berkshire(ticker: BRK.A and BRK.B) shares over the past one, five, and 10 years, Buffett’s cautious approach to new investments, and the spotty record of Berkshire’s acquisitions over the past decade.

Yet that letter—due out on Feb. 27, along with the annual report and fourth-quarter earnings—can help write Berkshire’s next chapter. All it would need is an announcement of the initiation of a dividend.

A dividend of 2% would be a good start, representing about 40% of projected 2021 earnings. It would probably lift the stock by broadening the base of potential investors to those who want or need dividends.

Berkshire has stepped up its share repurchases, buying back $15.7 billion of stock in the first three quarters of 2020, or about 3% of the shares outstanding. But with $146 billion in cash and projected earnings this year of $25 billion, it has the ability to pay a dividend as well as to buy back stock.

“Berkshire should pay a dividend; this would increase the appeal of the shares to investors who want current income,” says David King, co-manager of the Columbia Flexible Capital Income fund. “Given Berkshire’s size and financial strength, the company is unique in paying no dividend and that should be changed.”

Berkshire hasn’t paid a dividend for over 50 years. Why? Buffett’s view has been that a dollar in his hands is better than one in the hands of shareholders. That was long the case as Buffett worked his investment and acquisition magic, but it has been less true in recent years. Buffett declined to comment for this article.

In his 2012 annual letter, the CEO addressed the dividend issue, arguing that the better, and more tax-efficient, approach would be for investors who want income to sell a small portion of their Berkshire stock each year.

“First, dividends impose a specific cash-out policy upon all shareholders. If, say, 40% of earnings is the policy, those who wish 30% or 50% will be thwarted,” Buffett wrote. “Our 600,000 shareholders cover the waterfront in their desires for cash. It is safe to say, however, that a great many of them—perhaps even most of them—are in a net-savings mode and logically should prefer no payment at all.”

In 2014, Berkshire holder soverwhelmingly rejected a proxy proposalon dividends.

Yet Berkshire’s cash has more than doubled since then, notes Edward Jones analyst James Shanahan, who favors a dividend. “A dividend is a good idea if only because the cash balance has grown so much,” he says, adding that significant repurchases at Berkshire are more difficult than at other big companies because there is less liquidity in its stock.

Berkshire’s class A shares have lagged behind theS&P 500 indexby 40 percentage points since the end of 2018. They now look appealing at around $368,000, less than 1.3 times estimated year-end 2020 book value of around $287,000 and about 23 times projected 2021 earnings. Its class B shares trade around $243.

Berkshire has traded at closer to 1.4 times book value in the past five years, and earnings are set to climb in 2021, thanks to businesses with exposure to an improving economy, like the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad.

Still, the past decade has been one of missed opportunities for Buffett—with the stake inApple(AAPL) the notable exception. While the recently disclosed big purchasesinVerizon Communications(VZ) andChevron(CVX) made waves, Berkshire was likely a net seller of about $9 billion of stocks last year. The company also failed to capitalize on the market turmoil and make any big acquisitions.

So what else might Berkshire shareholders hope to see in the annual letter? More disclosure would help. All it would need is an announcement of the initiation of a dividend.A dividend of 2% would be a good start, representing about 40% of projected 2021 earnings. It would probably lift the stock by broadening the base of potential investors to those who want or need dividends.Berkshire has stepped up its share repurchases, buying back $15.7 billion of stock in the first three quarters of 2020, or about 3% of the shares outstanding. But with $146 billion in cash and projected earnings this year of $25 billion, it has the ability to pay a dividend as well as to buy back stock.“Berkshire should pay a dividend; this would increase the appeal of the shares to investors who want current income,” says David King, co-manager of the Columbia Flexible Capital Income fund. “Given Berkshire’s size and financial strength, the company is unique in paying no dividend and that should be changed.”Berkshire hasn’t paid a dividend for over 50 years. Why? Buffett’s view has been that a dollar in his hands is better than one in the hands of shareholders. That was long the case as Buffett worked his investment and acquisition magic, but it has been less true in recent years. Buffett declined to comment for this article. In his 2012 annual letter, the CEO addressed the dividend issue, arguing that the better, and more tax-efficient, approach would be for investors who want income to sell a small portion of their Berkshire stock each year.“First, dividends impose a specific cash-out policy upon all shareholders. If, say, 40% of earnings is the policy, those who wish 30% or 50% will be thwarted,” Buffett wrote. “Our 600,000 shareholders cover the waterfront in their desires for cash. It is safe to say, however, that a great many of them—perhaps even most of them—are in a net-savings mode and logically should prefer no payment at all.”In 2014, Berkshire holder soverwhelmingly rejected a proxy proposalon dividends.Yet Berkshire’s cash has more than doubled since then, notes Edward Jones analyst James Shanahan, who favors a dividend. “A dividend is a good idea if only because the cash balance has grown so much,” he says, adding that significant repurchases at Berkshire are more difficult than at other big companies because there is less liquidity in its stock.Berkshire’s class A shares have lagged behind theS&P 500 indexby 40 percentage points since the end of 2018. They now look appealing at around $368,000, less than 1.3 times estimated year-end 2020 book value of around $287,000 and about 23 times projected 2021 earnings. Its class B shares trade around $243.Berkshire has traded at closer to 1.4 times book value in the past five years, and earnings are set to climb in 2021, thanks to businesses with exposure to an improving economy, like the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad.Still, the past decade has been one of missed opportunities for Buffett—with the stake inApple(AAPL) the notable exception. It’s hard to know exactly how well Precision Castparts and other major Berkshire businesses are doing because the company doesn’t break out their results. There is also the question of succession, with Buffett turning 90 last August. Buffett could give up the CEO job to Berkshire’s vice chairman, Greg Abel, while remaining chairman and continuing to oversee Berkshire’s investment portfolio, including $270 billion of stocks.Berkshire hasn’t named an heir apparent to Buffett, but it’s widely assumed to be Abel, 58, who oversees Berkshire’s vast noninsurance operations, including Burlington Northern. That would give Abel important experience while Buffett is still on the scene, allowing Abel to take new steps, like potentially holding Berkshire’s first investor day.And whether it is Abel or someone else, a dividend would take pressure off Buffett’s successor to reinvest Berkshire’s earnings torrent and align the conglomerate with most other giant companies.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":89,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":151740049,"gmtCreate":1625109200081,"gmtModify":1631886457405,"author":{"id":"3573255691210324","authorId":"3573255691210324","name":"weeleong","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3573255691210324","authorIdStr":"3573255691210324"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"<a higher operat","content":"
\n
History shows energy shares tend to be the best inflation bet
\n
Goldman touts firms with higher operating leverage as winners
\n
\n
For bond investors, inflation is pretty much all bad news, eating into the value of future returns. For equity traders, the tidings can be less categorically awful, given the ability of certain companies to wring profits from higher prices.
\n
While there will be plenty of stock-market casualties should price pressures perk up, history suggests the landscape isn’t devoid of opportunity. Energy shares have been persistent winners during times of high inflation over the past five decades, a study from Ned Davis Research shows.
\n
Goldman Sachs Group Inc. recommends companies better equipped to derive earnings from sales, such as automaker Ford Motor Co. and media firm Discovery Inc.To Societe Generale SA, supply and demand imbalances suggest mining shares and fertilizer producers offer better hedges should pressures build.
\n
No matter how sanguine Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powellisabout the topic right now, inflation will one day matter again for stocks. Just in the last few weeks, hawks have observed worrying signs in everything from a global shortage of computer chips to the biggest jump in U.S. producer prices on record.
\n
With the economic outlook brightening, Covid-19 cases falling and more fiscal stimulus on the horizon, nervousness about inflation is percolating. That means pricing power is set to become “an intriguing alpha generator” due to the wide variance in how companies cope with it, according to Tobias Levkovich, Citigroup Inc.’s chief U.S. equity strategist.
\n
“Lead indicators suggest that an inflation scare may be in the making,” Levkovich wrote. “Companies with price flexibility should come out as winners.”
\n

\n
Energy stocks have the best track-record during periods of rising consumer prices, according to Ned Davis. In seven out of nine cases of high inflation since 1972, the industry outperformed the S&P 500 by a median of 14 percentage points, the study showed.
\n
When ranked by investment style, cyclical value stocks -- companies whose sales are more sensitive to economic swings and usually trade at relatively cheap valuations -- tend to do better when inflation runs high, Ned Davisnoted.
\n
Crude oil has surged this year, bolstered by confidence in a global economic recovery. Those bets have been reflected in the stock market, with energy producers including Exxon Mobil Corp. and Marathon Oil Corp. soaring. The industry has led gains in the S&P 500 in 2021, climbing five times more than the equity benchmark.
\n
While inflation’s ramifications for the broader market are not straightforward, a look under the surface shows investors are preparing for the outcome by favoring companies with high operating leverage, or the ability to extract profits from revenue.
\n
While both sales and input costs tend to increase when inflation rises, companies with strong leverage potentially offer a safer trade. The reason is: the effect of growing revenue would outweigh the production costs.
\n
Since the start of February, a basket of stocks with the highest operating leverage that strips out industry bias has beaten the cohort of weakest ones by 1.7 percentage points, data compiled by Goldman Sachs and Bloomberg show. The gauge is poised for a fourth straight month of outperformance, the longest streak since the taper tantrum year of 2013.
\n
Higher input costs such as commodities pose little threat to overall earnings for S&P 500 companies partly because some industries gain as material prices climb and others hedge exposure, according to Goldman Sachs strategists including David Kostin.
\n
Labor costs, on the other hand, are a bigger headwind, with an increase of 100 basis points in wage growth likely amounting to a 1% reduction in company profits, their estimates show. For equity traders, the tidings can be less categorically awful, given the ability of certain companies to wring profits from higher prices.\nWhile there will be plenty of stock-market casualties should price pressures perk up, history suggests the landscape isn’t devoid of opportunity. Energy shares have been persistent winners during times of high inflation over the past five decades, a study from Ned Davis Research shows.\nGoldman Sachs Group Inc. recommends companies better equipped to derive earnings from sales, such as automaker Ford Motor Co. and media firm Discovery Inc.To Societe Generale SA, supply and demand imbalances suggest mining shares and fertilizer producers offer better hedges should pressures build.\nNo matter how sanguine Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powellisabout the topic right now, inflation will one day matter again for stocks. Just in the last few weeks, hawks have observed worrying signs in everything from a global shortage of computer chips to the biggest jump in U.S. producer prices on record.\nWith the economic outlook brightening, Covid-19 cases falling and more fiscal stimulus on the horizon, nervousness about inflation is percolating. That means pricing power is set to become “an intriguing alpha generator” due to the wide variance in how companies cope with it, according to Tobias Levkovich, Citigroup Inc.’s chief U.S. equity strategist.\n“Lead indicators suggest that an inflation scare may be in the making,” Levkovich wrote. “Companies with price flexibility should come out as winners.”\n\nEnergy stocks have the best track-record during periods of rising consumer prices, according to Ned Davis. In seven out of nine cases of high inflation since 1972, the industry outperformed the S&P 500 by a median of 14 percentage points, the study showed.\nWhen ranked by investment style, cyclical value stocks -- companies whose sales are more sensitive to economic swings and usually trade at relatively cheap valuations -- tend to do better when inflation runs high, Ned Davisnoted.\nCrude oil has surged this year, bolstered by confidence in a global economic recovery. Those bets have been reflected in the stock market, with energy producers including Exxon Mobil Corp. and Marathon Oil Corp. soaring. The industry has led gains in the S&P 500 in 2021, climbing five times more than the equity benchmark.\nWhile inflation’s ramifications for the broader market are not straightforward, a look under the surface shows investors are preparing for the outcome by favoring companies with high operating leverage, or the ability to extract profits from revenue.\nWhile both sales and input costs tend to increase when inflation rises, companies with strong leverage potentially offer a safer trade. The reason is: the effect of growing revenue would outweigh the production costs.\nSince the start of February, a basket of stocks with the highest operating leverage that strips out industry bias has beaten the cohort of weakest ones by 1.7 percentage points, data compiled by Goldman Sachs and Bloomberg show. The gauge is poised for a fourth straight month of outperformance, the longest streak since the taper tantrum year of 2013.\nHigher input costs such as commodities pose little threat to overall earnings for S&P 500 companies partly because some industries gain as material prices climb and others hedge exposure, according to Goldman Sachs strategists including David Kostin.\nLabor costs, on the other hand, are a bigger headwind, with an increase of 100 basis points in wage growth likely amounting to a 1% reduction in company profits, their estimates show. Accordingly, they advise investors to favor firms whose labor costs make up a smaller share of revenue, such as Under Armour Inc. and Biogen Inc.\n“Many investors believe the spending boost will lead to higher inflation and interest rates, which would reduce the value of equity duration and increase the importance of near-term growth,” Kostin wrote in a note earlier this month. “Historically, inflation has boosted nominal S&P 500 revenues, but weighed on profit margins as companies struggled to lift prices at the same pace as rising input costs.”\n\nSociete Generale’s strategists led by Andrew Lapthorne have built a basket of stocks based on their sensitivity to metrics like fluctuations in copper and food prices. Basic materials, technology and energy shares currently make up two thirds of the portfolio.\nWhile the group has proved its worth by rising with inflation expectations in recent months, one drawback is its poor performance during times of disinflation -- something that has gripped the market for much of the past decade, theynoted. To offset that deficiency, the Societe Generale strategists designed a trade dubbed “call replication” that limits the downside risk while maximizing the upside.\n“When we speak to investors, they want the upside from value rallies and would like to hedge inflation risk, but most find the volatility incompatible with their risk tolerance,” Lapthorne wrote in a note Thursday. “Call replication strikes the right balance.”","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":115,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":360429384,"gmtCreate":1613967428148,"gmtModify":1634551724642,"author":{"id":"3573255691210324","authorId":"3573255691210324","name":"weeleong","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3573255691210324","authorIdStr":"3573255691210324"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"meowww","listText":"meowww","text":"meowww","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/360429384","repostId":"1174514335","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1174514335","pubTimestamp":1613966282,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1174514335?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-02-22 11:58","market":"us","language":"en","title":"XPeng: Meet The Chinese Competitor Of Tesla","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1174514335","media":"seekingalpha","summary":"Summary\n\nXPeng is one of the major electric vehicle manufacturers in China that has the potential to","content":"
Summary
\n
\n
XPeng is one of the major electric vehicle manufacturers in China that has the potential to create substantial shareholder value in the near-term.
\n
XPeng, along with other EV manufacturers, has experienced a surge in deliveries and as a result, there’s a high chance that they’ll continue to trade at high premiums.
\n
We decided to buy XPeng shares ahead of its earnings in early March and plan to hold our position in the company as long as the overall industry momentum holds.
\n
\n
XPeng (XPEV) is one of the major electric vehicle manufacturers in China that has the potential to create substantial shareholder value in the near-term. Despite being significantly overvalued by traditional valuation metrics, XPeng along with other EV manufacturers have experienced a surge in deliveries in recent quarters and as a result, there's a high chance that they'll continue to trade at high premiums in the foreseeable future. For that reason, we decided to buy XPeng shares ahead of its earnings in early March and plan to hold our position in the company as long as the overall industry momentum holds.
\n
Preparing for an All-Electric Future
\n
XPeng is a Chinese-based EV manufacturer that's headquartered in Guangzhou. The company was founded in 2014, currently, it has ~3700 employees, and it went public in the second half of 2020. With backing from Alibaba (BABA) and other major banks in China, XPeng along with its competitors NIO (NIO), BYD (OTCPK:BYDDF) (OTCPK:BYDDY), and Li Auto (LI) are some of the hottest names in the electric vehicle business in the region. As a result, its stock has significantly appreciated in late 2020 and currently, it outperforms S&P 500 Index on a 1-year chart.
\n
Chart: Seeking Alpha
\n
XPeng's first car is an SUV called G3, the production of which began in 2018. The car in its basic package could drive around 300 kilometers on one battery charge, while a higher package has a greater battery capacity and could drive more than 400 kilometers on a single charge. The price of G3 varies on the package and in China its price starts at ~$21000 and goes all the way up to ~$29000. XPeng's second car is a sedan called P7 that was released last year and which is a direct competitor ofTesla's(TSLA) Model 3. P7's price in China varies from ~$33000 to ~$50000, and in January, the carreceiveda major over-the-air upgrade that added new features such as autonomous driving assistance and an updated operating system.
\n
In early March, XPeng will release its Q4 and FY20 earnings results, so for now we have to deep dive into the company'sQ3results to find out what's going on with the business. In Q3, XPeng significantly increased its revenues by 342.5% Y/Y to $293.1 million. Revenues from the vehicle sales were $279.6 million, while revenues from services were $13.6 million. At the same time, the company's non-GAAP EPS was -$0.32, while its net loss stood at $169.2 million. Despite the loss, XPeng increased the number of its supercharging stations to 135 and managed to increase its deliveries during the period by 265.8% Y/Y to 8,578 units.
\n
In addition, one of the biggest advantages of XPeng is that it doesn't have an overleveraged balance sheet since at the end of Q3 ithad$2.65 billion in cash reserves and only $347 million in total debt. Also, the company's financials have been improving in recent quarters and at the end of Q3, its gross margin was 4.6% against -2.7% a year ago, while its vehicle margin was 3.2% against -10.8% a year ago. Thanks to such an improvement, the street analysts have upgraded their outlook on the company, and its currentconsensusprice target is $57.95, above the current market price.
\n
Nevertheless, the biggest downside of XPeng is that it'sprojectedto generate less than $1 billion in revenues in 2020 and around $2 billion in revenues in 2021, yet its stock trades at a market cap of ~$35 billion. Since it's hard to justify the current valuation, it's safe to say that we're in the middle of an EV bubble, as other EV manufacturers are also significantly overvalued and worth more than traditional automotive behemoths that produce millions of cars every year. As a result, if XPeng experiences a decline in deliveries at any given time, then there's a risk that the street will lose faith in its ability to drive growth and as a result, its stock will tumble. The good thing is that that hasn't happened yet and there's no reason to be concerned about it at this stage.
\n
The reality is that XPeng is in its growth phase, so the market doesn't really care that the company is not going to be profitable anytime soon or that it trades at a significant premium. As long as XPeng continues to increase its deliveries and expand capacity, then it has all the chances to appreciate in the same way that Tesla appreciated in recent years. Currently, the goal of XPeng is to continue to expand and it plans to release two additional electric vehicles in the next two years. In addition, it plans to finish its second factory in Guangzhou in late 2022, which will help it to increase its annualcapacityfrom 100,000 cars to ~250,000. Since the demand for EVs is only going toincrease, XPeng's growth story will continue and the momentum is unlikely to fade away anytime soon.
\n
The downside of XPeng is that in FY20 itdelivered27,041 cars, while its competitors NIO and Li Auto delivered 43,728 and 32,624 cars, respectively. However, we shouldn't forget that XPeng's flagship sedan P7 went into production only in the summer of 2020 and that the company experienced a bump in deliveries only late in the year. In Q4 its deliveries increased by 303% Y/Y to 12,964 units, while in December alone deliveries increased by 326% Y/Y. In addition, considering that in January alone XPeng alreadydelivered6,015 cars, which represents an increase of 470% Y/Y, there's every reason to believe that the company will catch up to its competitors in 2021, and thanks to its strategic market positioning it has all the chances to deliver more cars than the rest this year.
\n
Considering that the full earnings results for Q4 and FY20 will be released in early March, there's every reason to believe that the EV momentum will not disappear and XPeng will be able to appreciate in the near-term despite the overvaluation thanks to the growth of its deliveries. Therefore, despite all the risks, we decided to purchase the company's stock and plan to hold it for a while, since shorting any EV name at this stage is too risky due to the growth of investments in the electric vehicle field.
","source":"seekingalpha","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
XPeng: Meet The Chinese Competitor Of Tesla
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nXPeng: Meet The Chinese Competitor Of Tesla\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-02-22 11:58 GMT+8 seekingalpha\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Summary\n\nXPeng is one of the major electric vehicle manufacturers in China that has the potential to create substantial shareholder value in the near-term.\nXPeng, along with other EV manufacturers, ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"XPEV":"小鹏汽车"},"source_url":"https://seekingalpha.com/article/4407110-xpeng-meet-chinese-competitor-of-tesla","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/5a36db9d73b4222bc376d24ccc48c8a4","article_id":"1174514335","content_text":"Summary\n\nXPeng is one of the major electric vehicle manufacturers in China that has the potential to create substantial shareholder value in the near-term.\nXPeng, along with other EV manufacturers, has experienced a surge in deliveries and as a result, there’s a high chance that they’ll continue to trade at high premiums.\nWe decided to buy XPeng shares ahead of its earnings in early March and plan to hold our position in the company as long as the overall industry momentum holds.\n\nXPeng (XPEV) is one of the major electric vehicle manufacturers in China that has the potential to create substantial shareholder value in the near-term. Since the demand for EVs is only going toincrease, XPeng's growth story will continue and the momentum is unlikely to fade away anytime soon.\nThe downside of XPeng is that in FY20 itdelivered27,041 cars, while its competitors NIO and Li Auto delivered 43,728 and 32,624 cars, respectively. In addition, considering that in January alone XPeng alreadydelivered6,015 cars, which represents an increase of 470% Y/Y, there's every reason to believe that the company will catch up to its competitors in 2021, and thanks to its strategic market positioning it has all the chances to deliver more cars than the rest this year.\nConsidering that the full earnings results for Q4 and FY20 will be released in early March, there's every reason to believe that the EV momentum will not disappear and XPeng will be able to appreciate in the near-term despite the overvaluation thanks to the growth of its deliveries. Therefore, despite all the risks, we decided to purchase the company's stock and plan to hold it for a while, since shorting any EV name at this stage is too risky due to the growth of investments in the electric vehicle field.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":118,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":321749010,"gmtCreate":1615472764830,"gmtModify":1703489560542,"author":{"id":"3573255691210324","authorId":"3573255691210324","name":"weeleong","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3573255691210324","authorIdStr":"3573255691210324"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"iskimoeskimobeskimo","listText":"iskimoeskimobeskimo","text":"iskimoeskimobeskimo","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/321749010","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":346,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":321060253,"gmtCreate":1615385793972,"gmtModify":1703488243714,"author":{"id":"3573255691210324","authorId":"3573255691210324","name":"weeleong","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3573255691210324","authorIdStr":"3573255691210324"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"ndjdkdkslsllslslslsllslalalzbxvxhxhxhx","listText":"ndjdkdkslsllslslslsllslalalzbxvxhxhxhx","text":"ndjdkdkslsllslslslsllslalalzbxvxhxhxhx","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/321060253","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":312,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":320467878,"gmtCreate":1615169159794,"gmtModify":1703485122387,"author":{"id":"3573255691210324","authorId":"3573255691210324","name":"weeleong","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3573255691210324","authorIdStr":"3573255691210324"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"toolitooda","listText":"toolitooda","text":"toolitooda","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/320467878","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":232,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":367041150,"gmtCreate":1614898458470,"gmtModify":1703482635747,"author":{"id":"3573255691210324","authorId":"3573255691210324","name":"weeleong","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3573255691210324","authorIdStr":"3573255691210324"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"id
