He estimated wealth losses could total $35 trillion in the U.S. should valuations across major asset classes return two-thirds of the way to historical norms.

"One of the main reasons I deplore superbubbles -- and resent the Fed and other financial authorities for allowing and facilitating them -- is the underrecognized damage that bubbles cause as they deflate," said Grantham.

The Federal Reserve doesn't seem to "get" asset bubbles, said Grantham, pointing to the "ineffably massive stimulus for COVID" (some of which he said was necessary) that followed stimulus to recover from the bust of the 2006 housing bubble. "The only 'lesson' that the economic establishment appears to have learned from the rubble of 2009 is that we didn't address it with enough stimulus," he said.

Equity bubbles tend to begin to deflate from the riskiest parts of the market first -- as the one that Grantham is warning about has been doing since February 2021, according to his paper. "So, good luck!" he wrote. "We'll all need it."

While the S&P 500 index and Dow Jones Industrial Average each notched all-time closing peaks in early January, they've since fallen into a slump, along with the Nasdaq Composite Index , as investors anticipate the Fed will end quantitative easing and begin raising interest rates to combat high inflation later this year.

The technology-laden Nasdaq has seen the biggest decline among the three major stock benchmarks in 2022, tumbling into correction territory after reaching a record high in November, according to FactSet data.

"We are in what I think of as the vampire phase of the bull market, where you throw everything you have at it," Grantham wrote. "You stab it with COVID, you shoot it with the end of QE and the promise of higher rates, and you poison it with unexpected inflation -- which has always killed P/E ratios before, but quite uniquely, not this time yet -- and still the creature flies."

That is "until, just as you're beginning to think the thing is completely immortal, it finally, and perhaps a little anticlimactically, keels over and dies," said Grantham. "The sooner the better for everyone."

The Nasdaq has dropped 9.5% this month, through Thursday, exceeding the S&P 500's nearly 6% slide and a 4.5% loss for the Dow, according to FactSet data.

As for GMO's investment recommendations, Grantham summarized them as avoiding U.S. equities while emphasizing value stocks in emerging markets and cheaper developed countries, "most notably Japan." On a personal note, he said, "I also like some cash for flexibility, some resources for inflation protection, as well as a little gold and silver."

Beyond the recent record highs of the U.S. stock market and "crazy" investor behavior that has accompanied its rise, Grantham warned that "we are indeed participating in the broadest and most extreme global real-estate bubble in history." He said that houses in the U.S. are at "the highest multiple of family income ever, after a record 20% gain last year."

Plus, said Grantham, "we also have the highest-priced bond markets in the U.S. and most other countries around the world, and the lowest rates, of course, that go with them, that human history has ever seen."

And then there's the "incipient bubble in commodities," he added. Oil and most of the "important metals" are among commodities priced broadly "above trend," while the "U.N.'s index of global food prices is around its all-time high," according to his paper.

"The combination, which we saw in 2008, of still-rising commodity prices with a deflating asset price bubble is the ultimate pincer attack on the economy and is all but guaranteed to lead to major economic pain," he wrote.

Grantham also considered how wealth compounds more slowly at "bubble pricing," while making it hard for people to afford their first house or to build an investment portfolio.

"There is the terrible increase in inequality that goes with higher prices of assets, which many simply do not own, and 'many' applies these days up to the median family or beyond," he wrote. recovery.\n\nCNBC’sJim Crameron Tuesday warned about the stock market implications of Federal Reserve ChairmanJerome Powell’s upcoming post-meeting news conference.\nThe Fed is set to release its policy statement at 2 p.m. ET on Wednesday, at the conclusion of its two-day June gathering. Powell’s Q&A session with reporters is scheduled to follow. Powell’s comments are beinghighly anticipated across Wall Street, as traders and investors look for fresh insights into how the Fed will respond to aseries of recent data pointsshowing inflation across the U.S. economy.\nOn“Squawk Box,”Cramer said he expects Powell to face “endless heckling” from journalists about whether the central bank’s highly accommodative monetary policy remains appropriate at this stage of the economy’s recovery from the Covid pandemic.\nPowell “has been saying, ‘I’m going to stay the course, stay the course.’ But there’s just this tortuous Q&A thing that he does, where it’s just a nightmare,” the“Mad Money”host said.\n“There are going to be people who just ask about the [producer price index] eight straight times, and they’re going to try and wear him down and maybe at one point he’s just worn down and he goes, ‘Yeah I know we’re buying too many mortgages’ ... or he slips up,” Cramer suggested.\nThe Labor Department on Tuesday said the PPI in Mayrose a hot 6.6% year over year, the largest 12-month increase on record. That comes after last week’sbig spike in consumer prices.\n“I mean, Jay is really practiced, but on the eighth question or the ninth question, I think he’s going to say, ‘Listen, I’m going to look at this,’ and that’s going to freak people out,” Cramer continued.\nAsked by CNBC’sAndrew Ross Sorkinabout how, exactly, stocks might react in that hypothetical scenario, Cramer responded: “Market goes down big, and we go down for about four, five days.”\nCramer also reiterated that he shares Powell’s inflation outlook, believing the rise in prices is likely to be temporary during the Covid recovery, justifying the Fed’s near-zero interest rates and asset purchase program.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":244,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":182690481,"gmtCreate":1623566348143,"gmtModify":1634031576353,"author":{"id":"3572322201202012","authorId":"3572322201202012","name":"MZ39","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/30eb7b5a7db02258a92e8e407af0f568","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572322201202012","authorIdStr":"3572322201202012"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wow all expensive tickets","listText":"Wow all expensive tickets","text":"Wow all expensive tickets","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/182690481","repostId":"1191179846","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1191179846","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1623536312,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1191179846?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-13 06:18","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Blue Origin auctions seat on first spaceflight with Jeff Bezos for $28 million","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1191179846","media":"cnbc","summary":"KEY POINTS\n\nJeff Bezos’ space venture Blue Origin auctioned off a seat Saturday on its first crewed ","content":"
\n
KEY POINTS\n\nJeff Bezos’ space venture Blue Origin auctioned off a seat Saturday on its first crewed spaceflight scheduled on July 20.\nThe winning bidder will fly to the edge of space with the Amazon ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; The auction’s proceeds will be donated to Blue Origin’s education-focused nonprofit Club for the Future, which supports kids interested in future STEM careers.\nBlue Origin director of astronaut and orbital sales Ariane Cornell said during the auction webcast that New Shepard’s first passenger flight will carry four people, including Bezos, his brother, the auction winner and a fourth person to be announced later.\nAutonomous spaceflight\nNew Shepard, a rocket that carries a capsule to an altitude of over 340,000 feet, has flown more than a dozen successful test flights without passengers, including one in April at the company’s facility in the Texas desert. It’s designed to carry up to six people and flies autonomously — without needing a pilot. The capsule has massive windows to give passengers a view of the earth below during about three minutes in zero gravity, before returning to Earth.\nBlue Origin’s system launches vertically, and both the rocket and capsule are reusable. The boosters land vertically on a concrete pad at the company’s facility in Van Horn, Texas, while the capsules land using a set of parachutes.\nBezos founded Blue Origin in 2000 and still owns the company, funding it through share sales of his Amazon stock.\nJuly 20 is notable because it also marks the 52nd anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.\nBranson and Musk\nBezos and fellow billionairesElon MuskandSir Richard Bransonarein a race to get to space, but each in different ways.Bezos’ Blue Origin and Branson’sVirgin Galacticare competing to take passengers on short flights to the edge of space, a sector known as suborbital tourism, while Musk’s SpaceX is launching private passengers on further, multi-day flights, in what is known as orbital tourism.\nBoth Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic have been developing rocket-powered spacecraft, but that is where the similarities end. While Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket launches vertically from the ground,Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo system is released mid-air and returns to Earth in a glidefor a runway landing, like an aircraft.\nVirgin Galactic’s system is also flown by two pilots, while Blue Origin’s launches without one.Branson’s company has also flown a test spaceflight with a passenger onboard, although the company has three spaceflight tests remainingbefore it begins flying commercial customers– which is planned to start in 2022.\nSpaceX launches its Crew Dragon spacecraft to orbit atop its reusable Falcon 9 rocket, havingsent 10 astronauts to the International Space Station on three missions to date.\nIn addition to the government flights, Musk’s company is planning to launch multiple private astronaut missions in the year ahead – beginning withthe all-civilian Inspiration4 missionthat is planned for September. SpaceX is also launchingat least four private missions for Axiom Space, starting early next year.\nBlue Origin’s auction may have netted $28 million, but a seat on a suborbital spacecraft is typically much less expensive. Virgin Galactic has historically sold reservations between $200,000 and $250,000 per ticket, and more recently charged the Italian Air Force about $500,000 per ticket for a training spaceflight.\nMusk’s orbital missions are more costly than the suborbital flights, with NASA paying SpaceX about $55 million per seat for spaceflights to the ISS.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":824,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":188384480,"gmtCreate":1623421692140,"gmtModify":1634033389555,"author":{"id":"3572322201202012","authorId":"3572322201202012","name":"MZ39","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/30eb7b5a7db02258a92e8e407af0f568","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572322201202012","authorIdStr":"3572322201202012"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Probably profit taking","listText":"Probably profit taking","text":"Probably profit taking","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/188384480","repostId":"1174648150","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1174648150","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1623421129,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1174648150?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-11 22:18","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Chinese education stocks fell again","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1174648150","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"(June 11) Gaotu fell over 7%, TAL Education Group was down about 4%, New Oriental Education fell abo","content":"
(June 11) Gaotu fell over 7%, TAL Education Group was down about 4%, New Oriental Education fell about 2%.
\n

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; This a real value market, a real vote on the cycle,” she said. “The cycle may come into question if we’re right about how consumption is going to shift.”Wood said consumer spending is going to make a major move to the services sector after dominating in the goods sector during the coronavirus pandemic. This should spur a decline in commodity prices and cyclical stocks, setting the stage for outperformance in innovation names.Shares of Ark’s flagship fund —Ark Innovation— are down nearly 10% this year to around $112 per share amid a sharp rotation into value stocks in 2021. The auction’s proceeds will be donated to Blue Origin’s education-focused nonprofit Club for the Future, which supports kids interested in future STEM careers.\nBlue Origin director of astronaut and orbital sales Ariane Cornell said during the auction webcast that New Shepard’s first passenger flight will carry four people, including Bezos, his brother, the auction winner and a fourth person to be announced later.\nAutonomous spaceflight\nNew Shepard, a rocket that carries a capsule to an altitude of over 340,000 feet, has flown more than a dozen successful test flights without passengers, including one in April at the company’s facility in the Texas desert. XPEV.

Here are highlights from Monday’s Analyst Blog:Chinese Auto Sales on Fast Track - Will It Hit a Speed Bump?

Vehicle sales in China for the month of March soared for the 12th straight month to 2.53 million units, per the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (“CAAM”). Sales spiked 75% from the corresponding period of 2020, when the country’s vehicle demand was badly hit by coronavirus woes.

Digging Into Sales Numbers

For the first quarter of 2021, sales surged 76% year over year to top 6.48 million units. The massive jump was due to lower severity of COVID-19 impacts, which crimped showroom traffic in the comparable year-ago quarter.

In fact, automakers in China suffered their bleakest ever quarter in the January-March 2020 period. However, thanks to supportive government policies, gradual reopening of economic activities and pent-up vehicle demand, China is now at the forefront of global auto market recovery.

Deliveries of new light vehicles including sport utility vehicles, sedans and multi-purpose vehicles grew 77% to exceed 1.87 million units in March 2021. Deliveries of commercial vehicles including pickups and buses rose 68% year over year to 651,000 units. Electric vehicle sales jumped a whopping 240% year over year to 226,000 units.

New light vehicle deliveries in first-quarter 2021 climbed 75% from the comparable year-ago period to 5.08 million units. Sales of commercial vehicles and EVs spiked 77% and 280% to 1.41 million units and 515,000 units, respectively, on a year-over-year basis.

China EV Market on Fire, Competition Revs Up

Demand for new energy vehicles (NEVs) has been on the rise amid climate change concerns and favorable government policies. Importantly, the country projects electric vehicles (EVs) to account for 25% of new car sales by 2025.

Last April, the government of China announced plans to extend subsidies and tax breaks for NEVs such as electric or plug-in hybrid cars for another two years to spur sales. Buoyed by favorable government policies and improving consumer confidence and economy, China — world’s largest EV market — is seeing solid sales of zero-emission vehicles.

China-based EV makers includingBYD Co,NIO,Li AutoandXPengregistered strong EV sales last month. Warren Buffett-backed BYD sold 24,218 EVs in March, representing a year-over-year jump of 97.6%.

NIO — which currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) — delivered 7,257 EVs last month, skyrocketing 373% year over year. EV makers Li Auto and XPeng delivered 4,900 and 5,102 vehicles, up a whopping 238.6% and 384%, respectively, on a year-over-year basis. You can seethe complete list of today’s Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) stocks here.

Foreign carmakers includingTesla,GMandFordare also registering strong sales and actively ramping up operations in the country. Per China Passenger Car Association, EV behemoth Tesla sold 35,478 China-made cars last month. The company commands a huge market share in the EV market of China, thanks to robust production from the Shanghai Gigafactory.

Overall vehicle sales by Ford and General Motors in China witnessed a year-over-year rally of 73% and 69%, respectively, for first-quarter 2021. General Motors is speeding up the development of advanced technologies in China to enable an all-electric future.

The company’s next-generation EVs (across all brands) in China will be powered by Ultium Drive. It should be noted that the Cadillac LYRIQ SUV would be the first Ultium-powered vehicle to be rolled out in China at Auto Shanghai 2021 later this month.

Importantly, Sales of Hong Guang mini-EV — under General Motors’ Wuling brand — exceeded 72,000 units in first-quarter 2021, retaining its position as the best-selling green vehicle in the country. Meanwhile, Ford is set to manufacture its electric Mustang Mach-E in China with its joint venture Changan Ford.

Amid soaring demand, competition is heating up in the China EV market. Even with the subsidies ending in 2022, the e-mobility battle in China is getting fiercer by the day with new upstarts, legacy automakers and tech titans foraying into the space.

A few days back, China’s leading smartphone maker Xiaomi announced that it is set to invest $10 billion in the development of EVs over the next 10 years. The company intends to establish a wholly-owned subsidiary with an initial investment of around $1.5 billion.

Ride-hailing platform Didi Chuxing has also launched an EV unit and collaborated with BYD to develop EVs designed for its services. Telecom equipment giant Huawei Technology also aims to launch electric cars under its brand and may roll out a couple of models this year. Search engine behemoth Baidu also announced plans to launch an electric car business in January.

Chip Deficit to Play Spoilsport

While China’s vehicle sales have rebounded quite strongly, will the recovery sustain amid the global chip crunch? Well, CAAM has already warned that the chip shortage is set to adversely impact auto production in the nation in second-quarter 2021. The agency does not expect the shortfall to ease until the fourth quarter of this year.

Although China is the largest auto market, it depends heavily on chip imports and is the largest buyer of semiconductors. Amid the chip shortfall, carmakers are scrambling to procure semiconductors, which are forcing them to undergo production cuts and idle factories. NIO shuttered operations for five days beginning Mar 29 due to microchip shortfall. Volvo Cars, owned by Geely Holdings, also halted production last month. In the absence of a quick solution to this chip problem, auto industry recovery in China may soon be losing steam.

These Stocks Are Poised to Soar Past the Pandemic

The COVID-19 outbreak has shifted consumer behavior dramatically, and a handful of high-tech companies have stepped up to keep America running. Right now, investors in these companies have a shot at serious profits. For example, Zoom jumped 108.5% in less than 4 months while most other stocks were sinking.

Our research shows that 5 cutting-edge stocks could skyrocket from the exponential increase in demand for “stay at home” technologies. Telecom equipment giant Huawei Technology also aims to launch electric cars under its brand and may roll out a couple of models this year. Search engine behemoth Baidu also announced plans to launch an electric car business in January.Chip Deficit to Play SpoilsportWhile China’s vehicle sales have rebounded quite strongly, will the recovery sustain amid the global chip crunch? Well, CAAM has already warned that the chip shortage is set to adversely impact auto production in the nation in second-quarter 2021. The agency does not expect the shortfall to ease until the fourth quarter of this year.Although China is the largest auto market, it depends heavily on chip imports and is the largest buyer of semiconductors. These Stocks Are Poised to Soar Past the PandemicThe COVID-19 outbreak has shifted consumer behavior dramatically, and a handful of high-tech companies have stepped up to keep America running. Right now, investors in these companies have a shot at serious profits. For example, Zoom jumped 108.5% in less than 4 months while most other stocks were sinking. Our research shows that 5 cutting-edge stocks could skyrocket from the exponential increase in demand for “stay at home” technologies. This could be one of the biggest buying opportunities of this decade, especially for those who get in early.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":330,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":322795583,"gmtCreate":1615825042442,"gmtModify":1703493718590,"author":{"id":"3572322201202012","authorId":"3572322201202012","name":"MZ39","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/30eb7b5a7db02258a92e8e407af0f568","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572322201202012","authorIdStr":"3572322201202012"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wow indeed! This a real value market, a real vote on the cycle,” she said. The ETF is about 29% off its high in February as worries about how the Federal Reserve might react to inflation push investors away from innovation names.Despite the weakness in her funds’ top holdings, Wood has been buying her highest conviction names, some that are at a significant discount to their levels earlier in the year.“We have capitalized on this volatility by selling names that have held up better than others and moving into names ... those that we have a high degree of conviction and those that are more opportunistic,” she said.In June, Wood has purchased in her various funds shares ofNetflix,Etsy, Google-parentAlphabet,Zoom Video,Crispr TherapeuticsandDocuSign. Wood is even doubling down on her top holdingTesla, which has fallen about 33% from its 52-week high.Wood alsopurchased millions of shares in Coinbase Globalas the world’s largest crypto exchange tanked alongside the price ofbitcoinlast month.
