The company is growing its Cash App, which enables users to store and send money. Now with 40 million monthly users, Cash App has a long growth runway ahead of it. Square is seeking to complement its business with new features over time, such as Buy Now and Pay Later via Afterpay.
\n
The Afterpay acquisition will give it access to 16 million consumers located both inside and outside of the United States. It could give the company momentum for expansion of Cash App in new markets, especially those where consumers are underbanked, like in emerging markets. Square reported net income of $574 million for Q2 2021 which was an increase of 89% year over year. In addition, the company has experienced revenue growth of 188% over the past three years. With more opportunities to expand on the horizon, this stock could be a great place for tech investors to look.
\n
2. Tesla
\n
\n
\n
\n
Analyst estimated 3-5 year earnings per share growth rate:
\n
37%
\n
\n
\n
\n
Tesla's (NASDAQ:TSLA) Model S pioneered the electric vehicle industry a decade ago. It's continuing to ramp up its deliveries years later, and Tesla could continue to grow through its other ventures, including solar energy and autonomous driving. The electric car market is growing more than 20% per year and the market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 34% by 2027. So Tesla's leadership (79% market share in the U.S.) in the category could translate to ongoing growth over the coming years.
\n
Tesla's revenue has grown 50% per year on average over the past five years, and the business is thriving. The Cybertruck hasn't yet entered production, and its presence could further disrupt legacy automakers, especially domestic competitors who rely on pickup trucks as their most profitable models. As the company reported net income of $1 billion for the second quarter which was nearly a 1,000% gain over last year, investors have plenty to look forward to.
\n
3. Netflix
\n
\n
\n
\n
Analyst estimated 3-5 year earnings per share growth rate:
\n
30%
\n
\n
\n
\n
Young investors might have a hard time believing that there was no such thing as streaming just over a decade ago. Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) transitioned from mail-order DVDs to streaming content in 2007, and the rest is history. Today, Netflix makes much of its own content and is expanding outside of the United States, while getting into gaming, which could continue to drive its growth moving forward.
\n
The company has spent years investing to build its own content, no longer relying on third-party partners to license it. Netflix has begun to generate robust operating cash flow, $713 million over the first six months of this year, despite investing a whopping $7 billion in new content. This high rate of investment creates a competitive moat that few others can afford to spend to compete with. Since Netflix has reported net income growth of 128% and revenue growth of 58% over the past three years, the company's content investment seems worthwhile.
\n
4. Facebook
\n
\n
\n
\n
Analyst estimated 3-5 year earnings per share growth rate:
\n
22%
\n
\n
\n
\n
Social media is now one of the primary ways people interact, maintain relationships, and make friends. Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) not only owns its namesake social media platform but other leading networks such as Instagram and messaging app WhatsApp. Altogether, more than 2.8 billion people use a Facebook product each month. That massive number of users creates substantial revenue streams for the company through advertising. Over the past five years, the company has reported revenue growth of 211% and net income growth of 185%, showing the billions of users have translated into serious cash.
\n
Facebook's long-term frontier has become the metaverse, which Mark Zuckerberg has personally stressed the importance of to the company's future. The company already owns virtual reality hardware company Oculus and is dedicating a full staff to working on its metaverse business. The metaverse could be worth as much as $280 billion by 2025, and Facebook wants to make sure its advertising presence is felt within it.
\n
5. Shopify
\n
\n
\n
\n
Analyst estimated 3-5 year earnings per share growth rate:
\n
27%
\n
\n
\n
\n
Small businesses need to compete in e-commerce to thrive in today's environment, and Shopify (NYSE:SHOP) helps them do it by providing the software for any merchant to own and operate an online store. More than 1.7 million merchants use Shopify's platform, and it cumulatively drives more web traffic than Amazon. There are tens of millions of merchants around the world, providing a huge addressable market for Shopify, which could continue growing for years. That addressable market has already shown growth with the company reporting revenue of $1 billion in the second quarter, up 57% year over year.
\n
As of this summer, Shopify is now powering e-commerce functions within TikTok, the video-based social media platform with one billion monthly active users. E-commerce and social media have begun to integrate in recent years, and Shopify's new presence on TikTok could \"move the needle\" on growing that 1.7 million merchant base. Today, I hold the same view when it comes to a downturn. If correction fears prove true, shares in this fast-growing chip maker will likely move in tandem.
\n
Of course, you may ask what if the market doesn’t tank?I agree that stocks are not guaranteed to correct soon. The markets could remain resilient and fears could be overblown. Or, current worries could play out as expected while stocks experience more of a soft landing than any severe correction.
\n
That said, don’t assume Nvidia will make its way toward new highs if the markets hold steady. Investors are fatigued when it comes to bidding up this hot stock. That’s mostly due to its possible setbacks ahead, like if Nvidia fails to get itsArmdealapproved by European regulators.
\n
The takeaway? Waiting things out looks like the best move with NVDA stock right now. Here’s why.
\n
NVDA Stock and Growing Indifference
\n
AsBarron’sreported on Sept. 17, the market doesn’t seem interested in Nvidia as much as it did before. In particular, the article cites uncertainty over the Arm deal as a major contributing factor. But looking at other factors, it’s even easier to see why investors aren’t so keen on sending NVDA stock up above the median of analyst price targets.
\n
For instance, consider Nvidia’s growth deceleration. For the current fiscal year (ending January 2022), the sell-side expects the company to see sales and earnings jump about 55%and 62% respectively year-over-year (YOY). But next fiscal year? Sales growth is expected to slow to less than 13%. Projections for earnings growth are just under 12%.
\n
Low double-digit revenue and earnings growth isn’t something to sneeze at when it comes to a mega-cap stock. Yet, given that it trades for a forward price-earnings (P/E) ratio of 51 times? You could be paying a hefty premium for NVDA when its main rival —Advanced Micro Devices(NASDAQ:AMD), for which analysts projecthigher ratesof growth next year — trades for just 40 times forward earnings.
\n
Granted, analyst estimates may be too conservative. With thechip shortagenot set to normalize until mid-2022, demand could continue to outstrip supply. Nevertheless, much of that is factored into the price already. So, investor enthusiasm may cool further, reducing Nvidia’s chances of making another short-term climb.
\n
Many Ways Shares Could Pull Back
\n
If you’re looking at NVDA stock as a long-term play, you may not be as concerned about your entry price. After all, if you believe this winner will stay winning, worrying about getting in at $200 rather than $220 may not matter.
\n
However, given the strong chances this stock has of pulling back, there’s probably little reason to dive in right now. Of course, a market downturn would push down shares. But so could other company-specific factors. For example, if the EU says no dice to the Arm deal, you may be able to buy shares at a much lower price.
\n
Additionally, Nvidia will release its third-quarter results in mid-November. Although it may beat estimates again, shares could still sell off after the numbers hit the street, either from “sell the news” profit taking or negative changes to its outlook.
\n
Yes, these possible outcomes only have a chance of happening. But with investors already pricing in the benefits of an Arm merger — and shares already priced based on above-average earnings growth — it’s debatable whether any incoming good news will do much to send NVDA stock toward $250 by year’s end.
\n
Take Your Time with NVDA Stock
\n
It’s still unclear whether a correction will play out in the next few months or if today’s fears are overblown. But even if stocks remain strong between now and the start of 2022, there’s no rush to go out and buy Nvidia right now.
\n
Don’t get me wrong — there’s no denying this is a high-quality name to own. That's bad news for soaring tech stocks, including Apple, Roku, and Shopify.\n
\n
Key Points
\n
\n
Many high-flying and seemingly risky stocks took a big hit on Tuesday.
\n
You could see this event as a rehearsal for more dramatic market corrections in the reasonably near future.
\n
\n
What happened
\n
Many tech stocks got a haircut on Tuesday as Wall Street turned away from seemingly risky investments in favor of more sensible value plays. Any ticker with a recent history of market-beating returns was fair game for a sharp correction, including many popular investments in the technology sector.
\n
As of 2:35 p.m, EDT, database specialistMongoDB(NASDAQ:MDB)had fallen as much as 4.8%. E-commerce technologistShopify(NYSE:SHOP)dipped 5.9% lower at most. Data-warehousing expertSnowflake(NYSE:SNOW)bounced back from a 5.5% nadir, and media-streaming veteranRoku(NASDAQ:ROKU)found support after a 4.5% fall. Even mightyApple(NASDAQ:AAPL)suffered a maximum drop of 2.5%.
\n
Together, the lowest points for this group of five stocks added up to $80.6 billion of lost market value Tuesday. The funny thing is, none of these fantastic companies did anything wrong. They were punished as a group for the debatable offense ofdelivering strong returns to shareholdersin recent months.
\n
So what
\n
The specific details may differ, but the themes are all the same. Here's what these stocks looked like on Monday evening:
\n
\n
MongoDB had gained 133% over the previous 52 weeks, trading at 42 times trailing sales with negative earnings.
\n
Roku looked back at a one-year gain of 88%. The stock traded at 196 times trailing earnings and 19 times sales.
\n
Shopify had amassed a 54% return over the same period. Shares were changing hands at 392 times earnings and 47 times sales.
\n
Snowflake's annual gain stopped at 48%. Like MongoDB, this company is not reporting positive bottom-line earnings. The stock was soaring at 95 times trailing sales.
\n
Apple's full-year returns were actually slightly below theS&P 500's 35% gain, but the iPhone maker had tripled the broader market's 5% returns since early June. At 28.5 times earnings and 7 times sales, Apple's shares straddled the line between growth stocks and value investments.
\n
\n
These combinations of recent gains and soaring valuation ratios set our example tickers up for painful corrections Tuesday. To be clear, none of the companies listed above had any significant news of their own Tuesday.
\n
Now what
\n
The driving force behind Tuesday's flight from riskier stocks was a surging bond market, where the yield on10-year Treasury notesrose to a three-month high of 1.53%. The stock market can be sensitive to large moves in these ultra-safe investment returns. Higher bond yields give value investors a more sensible safe haven in times of turmoil.
\n
In turn, the rising bond rates followed from the idea that the Federal Reserve looks ready to stop plowing billions of dollars into the bond market someday soon. The rising yields are still lower than the long-term annual inflation target of 2%, which limits the power of the bond market as a whole. That's bad news for soaring tech stocks, including Apple, Roku, and Shopify.\n\nKey Points\n\nMany high-flying and seemingly risky stocks took a big hit on Tuesday.\nYou could see this event as a rehearsal for more dramatic market corrections in the reasonably near future.\n\nWhat happened\nMany tech stocks got a haircut on Tuesday as Wall Street turned away from seemingly risky investments in favor of more sensible value plays. Any ticker with a recent history of market-beating returns was fair game for a sharp correction, including many popular investments in the technology sector.\nAs of 2:35 p.m, EDT, database specialistMongoDB(NASDAQ:MDB)had fallen as much as 4.8%. Even mightyApple(NASDAQ:AAPL)suffered a maximum drop of 2.5%.\nTogether, the lowest points for this group of five stocks added up to $80.6 billion of lost market value Tuesday. The funny thing is, none of these fantastic companies did anything wrong. They were punished as a group for the debatable offense ofdelivering strong returns to shareholdersin recent months.\nSo what\nThe specific details may differ, but the themes are all the same. Here's what these stocks looked like on Monday evening:\n\nMongoDB had gained 133% over the previous 52 weeks, trading at 42 times trailing sales with negative earnings.\nRoku looked back at a one-year gain of 88%. The stock traded at 196 times trailing earnings and 19 times sales.\nShopify had amassed a 54% return over the same period. Shares were changing hands at 392 times earnings and 47 times sales.\nSnowflake's annual gain stopped at 48%. Like MongoDB, this company is not reporting positive bottom-line earnings. The stock was soaring at 95 times trailing sales.\nApple's full-year returns were actually slightly below theS&P 500's 35% gain, but the iPhone maker had tripled the broader market's 5% returns since early June. At 28.5 times earnings and 7 times sales, Apple's shares straddled the line between growth stocks and value investments.\n\nThese combinations of recent gains and soaring valuation ratios set our example tickers up for painful corrections Tuesday. To be clear, none of the companies listed above had any significant news of their own Tuesday.\nNow what\nThe driving force behind Tuesday's flight from riskier stocks was a surging bond market, where the yield on10-year Treasury notesrose to a three-month high of 1.53%. The stock market can be sensitive to large moves in these ultra-safe investment returns. Higher bond yields give value investors a more sensible safe haven in times of turmoil.\nIn turn, the rising bond rates followed from the idea that the Federal Reserve looks ready to stop plowing billions of dollars into the bond market someday soon. The rising yields are still lower than the long-term annual inflation target of 2%, which limits the power of the bond market as a whole. Tuesday's anti-risk corrections will look tame by comparison if that yield-to-inflation relationship flips around, which might actually happen when the Fed's quantitative easing program finally runs its course.\nI'm not saying it's time to sell every high-risk stock and reinvest the cash in bonds and gold, but investors should be ready for a more dramatic drop in the relatively near future. If anything, I might increase my investments in MongoDB and Roku if their stock prices tumble for purely economy-based reasons.\nAfter all, these great companies are poised for long-term success in their chosen sectors regardless of bond yields and inflation rates. In the long run, stock prices are based on business results, not on the availability or lack of investment alternatives.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":605,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":861351880,"gmtCreate":1632461535040,"gmtModify":1632464387098,"author":{"id":"3569316918312189","authorId":"3569316918312189","name":"Minidarling","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/911ab5863f184fb41ddc75f4e45b595e","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Will Bitcoin tipping help secure bitcoin’s ability as a store of value ?","listText":"Will Bitcoin tipping help secure bitcoin’s ability as a store of value ?","text":"Will Bitcoin tipping help secure bitcoin’s ability as a store of value ?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/861351880","repostId":"2169696023","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2169696023","pubTimestamp":1632454335,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2169696023?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-09-24 11:32","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Twitter rolls out bitcoin tipping, safety features in product push","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2169696023","media":"Reuters","summary":"Sept 23 (Reuters) - Twitter Inc will allow people to tip their favorite content creators with bitcoi","content":"
Sept 23 (Reuters) - Twitter Inc will allow people to tip their favorite content creators with bitcoin and will launch a fund to pay some users who host audio chat rooms on its Spaces feature, the company said on Thursday.
\n
The San Francisco-based company added it will test new ways to help users have a safer experience on Twitter, such as warning when people are entering a \"heated\" conversation or letting them leave tweet threads.
\n
The product announcements are part of Twitter's effort to compete with rival platforms like Facebook and Alphabet Inc's YouTube for popular content creators with large followings, and turn around its image as a site where polarized discussions can fester.
\n
Twitter users globally on iOS devices can now send and receive digital payments, which was previously limited to a small group of testers.
\n
\"We believe we can continue to incentivize the types of conversations that people want to see,\" said Esther Crawford, product lead for creator monetization at Twitter, in a briefing with reporters.
\n
Twitter said it plans to support authentication for NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, which are digital assets such as images or videos that exist on a blockchain.
\n
The feature will let people track and showcase their NFT ownership on Twitter, the company said.
\n
In an effort to grow Spaces, Twitter will launch a creator fund to provide financial, technical and marketing support to users who host recurring audio programming on Spaces.
\n
Such support will allow more Spaces hosts to organize better conversations and potentially gain brand sponsorship deals, said Andre Jean-Pierre, who served as an early beta-tester for Spaces.
\n
Twitter added it is exploring how to allow users to filter out certain words they do not want to see in the replies to their tweets, which could be used to stop name-calling or abusive speech.
","source":"yahoofinance","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; That's bad news for soaring tech stocks, including Apple, Roku, and Shopify.\n\nKey Points\n\nMany high-flying and seemingly risky stocks took a big hit on Tuesday.\nYou could see this event as a rehearsal for more dramatic market corrections in the reasonably near future.\n\nWhat happened\nMany tech stocks got a haircut on Tuesday as Wall Street turned away from seemingly risky investments in favor of more sensible value plays. Any ticker with a recent history of market-beating returns was fair game for a sharp correction, including many popular investments in the technology sector.\nAs of 2:35 p.m, EDT, database specialistMongoDB(NASDAQ:MDB)had fallen as much as 4.8%. In the long run, stock prices are based on business results, not on the availability or lack of investment alternatives.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":605,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":865690407,"gmtCreate":1632972455963,"gmtModify":1632972456396,"author":{"id":"3569316918312189","authorId":"3569316918312189","name":"Minidarling","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/911ab5863f184fb41ddc75f4e45b595e","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Are you holding ?
This growth could be the tip of the iceberg for this company in the long term.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
5 Top Tech Stocks to Buy for the Long Haul
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n5 Top Tech Stocks to Buy for the Long Haul\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-10-13 20:15 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
The world we live in is more digital than ever.
