Wood has added to already substantial positions in four of ARK's six flagship ETFs, making Unity a top 10 position in three of them. All told, the four funds own more than 10.6 million shares of the stock, worth more than $1.2 billion.</p>\n<p>It's easy to see why Wood is so enthusiastic about Unity Software. The company provides the world's leading platform for creating and operating interactive, real-time 3D content. It offers a comprehensive set of tools and software that help developers create 2D and 3D content for mobile phones, tablets, PCs, and consoles, as well as augmented reality and virtual reality devices.</p>\n<p>Unity has unrivaled scale and reach. In fact, 53% of the top 1,000 mobile games on <b>Apple</b>'s App Store and <b>Alphabet</b>'s Google Play store -- as well as over 50% of mobile games, PC games, and console games combined -- are made using Unity's platform. The company boasts 1.5 million monthly active creators in 190 countries, who account for more than 3 billion app downloads per month.</p>\n<p>What attracts developers to Unity is the ability to see and modify their creations in real time. This results in a significant decrease in design and development time, making developers more productive. It also helps them react and adapt their games and apps to end-user feedback, again in real time. Games built on Unity's platform can be created once and instantly deployed across more than 20 popular platforms, including <b>Microsoft</b>&nbsp;Windows and Xbox, <b>Sony</b> PlayStation, Mac, iOS, and Android, among others.</p>\n<p>Unity's full-year revenue for 2020 increased 43% year over year to $772 million. That strong growth continued into the first quarter, with revenue of $235 million up 41%. Like many early stage, high-growth companies, Unity is awash in red ink, but the news isn't all bad. Adjusting for <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE\">one</a>-time IPO-related charges, its 2020 operating loss improved by 45%.</p>\n<p>Wood has other reasons for investing heavily in Unity Software. In ARK Invest's <i>Big Ideas for 2021</i> report, she pointed out that revenue from virtual worlds -- which include video games, augmented reality, and virtual reality -- is expected to grow at 17% annually over the next several years, from $180 billion today to $390 billion by 2025. With its unique position in a large and growing ecosystem, Unity could be <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> of the biggest beneficiaries of this accelerating trend.</p>\n<p>Lastly, Unity Software's stock is currently available at a bargain basement price, selling for 31% off its recent highs.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6881ca12a327c150585c346eaa00cb65\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2>Maybe it's time to get in on this e-commerce leader</h2>\n<p><b>Brian Withers (JD): </b>JD.com seems to be a Cathie Wood favorite. Not surprisingly, it's the second-largest holding in the ARK <b>Autonomous Technology &amp; Robotics ETF</b>, as the leading Chinese retailer depends on robotics technology for warehousing functions and even last-mile delivery. But this technology-first company is also a holding in three other ARK ETFs. Let's look at why Wood has added more shares in the last several weeks.</p>\n<p>First, the stock is down more than 30% off its high, and not because the business is doing poorly. In fact, the company just put up stellar first-quarter results. Second, the ARK funds have owned shares of JD since mid-2017, and in the first quarter, the funds more than doubled the share count over the quarter. It's likely these buys over the course of this year and the recent purchases show that they are excited about the company's performance, long-term prospects, and valuation.</p>\n<p>Let's look at its most recent quarter. Not surprisingly, the top line decreased sequentially from the holiday quarter, but managed to beat analysts' expectations and post a 39% year-over-year increase. The company income from operations remains in the black, but still runs thin margins as it is investing profits into growth efforts. Over the past 12 months, more than 80% of its 112 million new active customers have come from lower-tier markets. And the company is expanding its footprint to better serve those regions. With its more than 1,000 warehouses across the region, its logistics team can now reach almost the entire country with rapid delivery services. Lastly, it's newly formed business group, Jingxi, is set up to serve price-sensitive customers in lower-tier regions. In its first quarter of operation, Jingxi served 17 provinces with its e-commerce operations.</p>\n<p>There's lots to like about this leading Chinese e-commerce retailer's business, especially with its stock trading at reasonable valuations. Compared to <b>Sea Limited</b>'s lofty price-to-sales ratio of 25 and <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/MELI\">MercadoLibre</a></b>'s 16, JD shares are valued at a 1 P/S ratio. Additionally, it has a P/E ratio of a cool 15, whereas its Latin American and Southeast Asian counterparts don't have earnings to record a P/E ratio.</p>\n<p>It's no wonder that the Cathie Wood and the ARK investment team are adding to their position with the shares at a discount to its recent high. The stock is down about 4% over the past 30 days, which might have spurred Wood's funds to add to their Roblox position.</p>\n<p>And investors may be wise to follow in Wood's footsteps. Roblox has created a video game platform unlike anything its competitors have, and is adding new players and increasing platform engagement at a healthy clip.</p>\n<p>Roblox has more than 43 million daily active users, 8 million developers creating games on its platform, and 100 million global active users.</p>\n<p>In the most recent quarter, sales spiked 140% from the year-ago quarter, and its users spent 9.8 <i>billion</i> hours engaged with the platform, an increase of 98% year over year.</p>\n<p>Investors should know that this company isn't profitable (it posted a loss of $134 million in the most recent quarter), and it just went public back in March. Both of these factors mean that the share price could be volatile in the short term as the company continues to grow.</p>\n<p>But the long-term potential for this company is firmly intact. In other words, growing at mid 40s% while the company is at sub $1 billion in revenues, and continuing to grow at mid-40s% at higher than $1 billion in revenues, it's quite a different feat. At some point, size takes a toll.</p>\n<p><b>Valuation - Not Cheap</b></p>\n<p>Cloudflare is priced at 53x forward sales. This implies that optimism towards Cloudflare is incredibly high. Even amongst SaaS names, I believe this is an outlier. I follow many companies in this space and I don't know of any that are priced as richly as this.</p>\n<p>The obvious comparison here is Fastly which is priced at 18x forward sales. But even amongst the cybersecurity names, a sector that is wildly known for its exuberant valuations the likes of CrowdStrike (CRWD) is priced at 42x sales.</p>\n<p><b>The Bottom Line</b></p>\n<p>Cloudflare is remarkably stable and growing at a rapid rate. Its valuation is not cheap at 53x sales, but there again high-quality companies rarely are. It needs approval from the U.K., U.S., European and Chinese regulators.</p>\n<p>This deal will allow Nvidia to advance in the field of computing and it will take the sales and revenue higher. The deal will be complete by March 2022 and once it does, there is no looking back for Nvidia. The company will be able to offer higher efficiency on its products with ARM architecture.</p>\n<p>At a recent conference of Six-Five Summit and CogX,Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang&nbsp;made a case for the merger which would combine the capacities of ARM with Nvidia’s AI capabilities and will lead to the creation of new ideas. However, the acquisition may take time but there is no doubting the potential of Nvidia.</p>\n<p>The company has strong fundamentals and enjoys a top position in the industry. There could be a dip in NVDA stock due to the stock split but it proves nothing about the fundamentals.</p>\n<p>Raymond James&nbsp;analyst Chris Caso&nbsp;raised the price target of NVDA stock to $900 with a Strong Buy rating. Wood has added to already substantial positions in four of ARK's six flagship ETFs, making Unity a top 10 position in three of them. All told, the four funds own more than 10.6 million shares of the stock, worth more than $1.2 billion.</p>\n<p>It's easy to see why Wood is so enthusiastic about Unity Software. The company provides the world's leading platform for creating and operating interactive, real-time 3D content. It offers a comprehensive set of tools and software that help developers create 2D and 3D content for mobile phones, tablets, PCs, and consoles, as well as augmented reality and virtual reality devices.</p>\n<p>Unity has unrivaled scale and reach. In fact, 53% of the top 1,000 mobile games on <b>Apple</b>'s App Store and <b>Alphabet</b>'s Google Play store -- as well as over 50% of mobile games, PC games, and console games combined -- are made using Unity's platform. The company boasts 1.5 million monthly active creators in 190 countries, who account for more than 3 billion app downloads per month.</p>\n<p>What attracts developers to Unity is the ability to see and modify their creations in real time. This results in a significant decrease in design and development time, making developers more productive. It also helps them react and adapt their games and apps to end-user feedback, again in real time. Games built on Unity's platform can be created once and instantly deployed across more than 20 popular platforms, including <b>Microsoft</b>&nbsp;Windows and Xbox, <b>Sony</b> PlayStation, Mac, iOS, and Android, among others.</p>\n<p>Unity's full-year revenue for 2020 increased 43% year over year to $772 million. That strong growth continued into the first quarter, with revenue of $235 million up 41%. Like many early stage, high-growth companies, Unity is awash in red ink, but the news isn't all bad. Adjusting for <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE\">one</a>-time IPO-related charges, its 2020 operating loss improved by 45%.</p>\n<p>Wood has other reasons for investing heavily in Unity Software. In ARK Invest's <i>Big Ideas for 2021</i> report, she pointed out that revenue from virtual worlds -- which include video games, augmented reality, and virtual reality -- is expected to grow at 17% annually over the next several years, from $180 billion today to $390 billion by 2025. With its unique position in a large and growing ecosystem, Unity could be <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> of the biggest beneficiaries of this accelerating trend.</p>\n<p>Lastly, Unity Software's stock is currently available at a bargain basement price, selling for 31% off its recent highs.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6881ca12a327c150585c346eaa00cb65\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2>Maybe it's time to get in on this e-commerce leader</h2>\n<p><b>Brian Withers (JD): </b>JD.com seems to be a Cathie Wood favorite. Not surprisingly, it's the second-largest holding in the ARK <b>Autonomous Technology &amp; Robotics ETF</b>, as the leading Chinese retailer depends on robotics technology for warehousing functions and even last-mile delivery. But this technology-first company is also a holding in three other ARK ETFs. Let's look at why Wood has added more shares in the last several weeks.</p>\n<p>First, the stock is down more than 30% off its high, and not because the business is doing poorly. In fact, the company just put up stellar first-quarter results. Second, the ARK funds have owned shares of JD since mid-2017, and in the first quarter, the funds more than doubled the share count over the quarter. It's likely these buys over the course of this year and the recent purchases show that they are excited about the company's performance, long-term prospects, and valuation.</p>\n<p>Let's look at its most recent quarter. Not surprisingly, the top line decreased sequentially from the holiday quarter, but managed to beat analysts' expectations and post a 39% year-over-year increase. The company income from operations remains in the black, but still runs thin margins as it is investing profits into growth efforts. Over the past 12 months, more than 80% of its 112 million new active customers have come from lower-tier markets. And the company is expanding its footprint to better serve those regions. With its more than 1,000 warehouses across the region, its logistics team can now reach almost the entire country with rapid delivery services. Lastly, it's newly formed business group, Jingxi, is set up to serve price-sensitive customers in lower-tier regions. In its first quarter of operation, Jingxi served 17 provinces with its e-commerce operations.</p>\n<p>There's lots to like about this leading Chinese e-commerce retailer's business, especially with its stock trading at reasonable valuations. Compared to <b>Sea Limited</b>'s lofty price-to-sales ratio of 25 and <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/MELI\">MercadoLibre</a></b>'s 16, JD shares are valued at a 1 P/S ratio. Additionally, it has a P/E ratio of a cool 15, whereas its Latin American and Southeast Asian counterparts don't have earnings to record a P/E ratio.</p>\n<p>It's no wonder that the Cathie Wood and the ARK investment team are adding to their position with the shares at a discount to its recent high. Roblox has created a video game platform unlike anything its competitors have, and is adding new players and increasing platform engagement at a healthy clip.</p>\n<p>Roblox has more than 43 million daily active users, 8 million developers creating games on its platform, and 100 million global active users.</p>\n<p>In the most recent quarter, sales spiked 140% from the year-ago quarter, and its users spent 9.8 <i>billion</i> hours engaged with the platform, an increase of 98% year over year.</p>\n<p>Investors should know that this company isn't profitable (it posted a loss of $134 million in the most recent quarter), and it just went public back in March. Both of these factors mean that the share price could be volatile in the short term as the company continues to grow.</p>\n<p>But the long-term potential for this company is firmly intact. Wood has added to already substantial positions in four of ARK's six flagship ETFs, making Unity a top 10 position in three of them. All told, the four funds own more than 10.6 million shares of the stock, worth more than $1.2 billion.\nIt's easy to see why Wood is so enthusiastic about Unity Software. The company provides the world's leading platform for creating and operating interactive, real-time 3D content. It offers a comprehensive set of tools and software that help developers create 2D and 3D content for mobile phones, tablets, PCs, and consoles, as well as augmented reality and virtual reality devices.\nUnity has unrivaled scale and reach. In fact, 53% of the top 1,000 mobile games on Apple's App Store and Alphabet's Google Play store -- as well as over 50% of mobile games, PC games, and console games combined -- are made using Unity's platform. The company boasts 1.5 million monthly active creators in 190 countries, who account for more than 3 billion app downloads per month.\nWhat attracts developers to Unity is the ability to see and modify their creations in real time. This results in a significant decrease in design and development time, making developers more productive. It also helps them react and adapt their games and apps to end-user feedback, again in real time. Games built on Unity's platform can be created once and instantly deployed across more than 20 popular platforms, including Microsoft Windows and Xbox, Sony PlayStation, Mac, iOS, and Android, among others.\nUnity's full-year revenue for 2020 increased 43% year over year to $772 million. That strong growth continued into the first quarter, with revenue of $235 million up 41%. Like many early stage, high-growth companies, Unity is awash in red ink, but the news isn't all bad. Adjusting for one-time IPO-related charges, its 2020 operating loss improved by 45%.\nWood has other reasons for investing heavily in Unity Software. In ARK Invest's Big Ideas for 2021 report, she pointed out that revenue from virtual worlds -- which include video games, augmented reality, and virtual reality -- is expected to grow at 17% annually over the next several years, from $180 billion today to $390 billion by 2025. With its unique position in a large and growing ecosystem, Unity could be one of the biggest beneficiaries of this accelerating trend.\nLastly, Unity Software's stock is currently available at a bargain basement price, selling for 31% off its recent highs.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nMaybe it's time to get in on this e-commerce leader\nBrian Withers (JD): JD.com seems to be a Cathie Wood favorite. Not surprisingly, it's the second-largest holding in the ARK Autonomous Technology & Robotics ETF, as the leading Chinese retailer depends on robotics technology for warehousing functions and even last-mile delivery. But this technology-first company is also a holding in three other ARK ETFs. Let's look at why Wood has added more shares in the last several weeks.\nFirst, the stock is down more than 30% off its high, and not because the business is doing poorly. In fact, the company just put up stellar first-quarter results. Second, the ARK funds have owned shares of JD since mid-2017, and in the first quarter, the funds more than doubled the share count over the quarter. It's likely these buys over the course of this year and the recent purchases show that they are excited about the company's performance, long-term prospects, and valuation.\nLet's look at its most recent quarter. Not surprisingly, the top line decreased sequentially from the holiday quarter, but managed to beat analysts' expectations and post a 39% year-over-year increase. The company income from operations remains in the black, but still runs thin margins as it is investing profits into growth efforts. A company announces a stock split and advises investors of how many additional shares they will receive, the record date of the transaction, and when the new shares will be distributed.</p>\n<p>In many ways, the upcoming stock split for <b>NVIDIA</b> (NASDAQ:NVDA) is no different. In conjunction with its fiscal 2022 first-quarter earnings report (ended May 2, 2021), the chipmaker announced that its board of directors declared a four-for-<a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE\">one</a> stock split, payable in the form of a stock dividend. This move was conditional on NVIDIA stockholders voting to approve to increase the number of authorized shares from 2 billion to 4 billion.</p>\n<p>Due to a quirk in this particular case (more on that in a minute), while it <i>appears</i> investors have already missed the opportunity to take advantage of the NVIDIA stock split, that simply isn't the case.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/10b74b78ba82e9df1e981738dfafe1bc\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"></p>\n<p>Image source: Getty Images.</p>\n<h3>The devil's in the details</h3>\n<p>At the company's 2021 annual meeting of stockholders, which was held on June 3, shareholders approved the measure to increase the number of outstanding shares, setting the stage for the stock split to move forward. Each shareholder of record <i>as of June 21</i> will receive three additional shares of NVIDIA stock for each <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> they own, which will be distributed after the market close on July 19. The stock will start trading on a split-adjusted basis when the market opens on Tuesday, July 20.</p>\n<p>To give some context to the numbers, here's an example of how it will work, though the final numbers will vary based on the then-current stock price. For each share of NVIDIA stock that an investor holds -- currently worth roughly $760 -- post-split, shareholders would own a total of four shares priced at $190 each.</p>\n<h3>The odd quirk</h3>\n<p>What sets NVIDIA's stock split apart from many others is the extraordinary length of time between the record date and the distribution date of the new, split shares. The record date is the date by which investors must own the stock in order to be eligible to receive additional shares created by the stock split, which occurs on the effective date. Typically, there are just a few days between the two.</p>\n<p>For example, in the recent 10-for-one stock split initiated by <b>The Trade Desk</b> (NASDAQ:TTD), shareholders of record as of June 9, 2021 received nine additional shares of stock, which were distributed after the close of trading on June 16, 2021 -- or a period of about a week after the record date. This was very similar to a couple of high-profile stock splits that happened late last year. <b>Apple</b> (NASDAQ:AAPL) and <b>Tesla</b> (NASDAQ:TSLA) each split their shares in August, with record dates of Aug. 24 and Aug. 21, respectively, and both stocks began trading split-adjusted&nbsp;on Aug. 31.</p>\n<p>In the case of NVIDIA, however, the period between the two is a whopping four weeks long. So what happens to investors who buy between the record date and the effective date? Are they left holding the bag?</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/97eae1602703c6cf3c0c5c986a02e099\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"></p>\n<p>Image source: Getty Images.</p>\n<h3>The good news</h3>\n<p>What's missing from NVIDIA's press release is the ex-dividend date. Because the stock split is being initiated in the form of a stock dividend, the ex-dividend date governs which investors are eligible to receive the newly split shares. In this case, NVIDIA's stock split goes ex-dividend on July 19, according to a spokesperson for brokerage house <b>Charles Schwab</b>.</p>\n<p>This means that investors can buy NVIDIA shares right up to July 19, and still be eligible to receive the additional shares from the stock split once the shares begin trading on a split-adjusted basis when the market opens July 20.</p>\n<p>It's also important to point out that this stock split doesn't do anything to change the underlying value of NVIDIA as a company -- it merely cleaves it into a greater number of ownership segments. A company announces a stock split and advises investors of how many additional shares they will receive, the record date of the transaction, and when the new shares will be distributed.\nIn many ways, the upcoming stock split for NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA) is no different. In conjunction with its fiscal 2022 first-quarter earnings report (ended May 2, 2021), the chipmaker announced that its board of directors declared a four-for-one stock split, payable in the form of a stock dividend. This move was conditional on NVIDIA stockholders voting to approve to increase the number of authorized shares from 2 billion to 4 billion.\nDue to a quirk in this particular case (more on that in a minute), while it appears investors have already missed the opportunity to take advantage of the NVIDIA stock split, that simply isn't the case.\n\nImage source: Getty Images.\nThe devil's in the details\nAt the company's 2021 annual meeting of stockholders, which was held on June 3, shareholders approved the measure to increase the number of outstanding shares, setting the stage for the stock split to move forward. Each shareholder of record as of June 21 will receive three additional shares of NVIDIA stock for each one they own, which will be distributed after the market close on July 19. The stock will start trading on a split-adjusted basis when the market opens on Tuesday, July 20.\nTo give some context to the numbers, here's an example of how it will work, though the final numbers will vary based on the then-current stock price. For each share of NVIDIA stock that an investor holds -- currently worth roughly $760 -- post-split, shareholders would own a total of four shares priced at $190 each.\nThe odd quirk\nWhat sets NVIDIA's stock split apart from many others is the extraordinary length of time between the record date and the distribution date of the new, split shares. The record date is the date by which investors must own the stock in order to be eligible to receive additional shares created by the stock split, which occurs on the effective date. Typically, there are just a few days between the two.\nFor example, in the recent 10-for-one stock split initiated by The Trade Desk (NASDAQ:TTD), shareholders of record as of June 9, 2021 received nine additional shares of stock, which were distributed after the close of trading on June 16, 2021 -- or a period of about a week after the record date. This was very similar to a couple of high-profile stock splits that happened late last year. Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) each split their shares in August, with record dates of Aug. 24 and Aug. 21, respectively, and both stocks began trading split-adjusted on Aug. 31.\nIn the case of NVIDIA, however, the period between the two is a whopping four weeks long. So what happens to investors who buy between the record date and the effective date? Because the stock split is being initiated in the form of a stock dividend, the ex-dividend date governs which investors are eligible to receive the newly split shares. In this case, NVIDIA's stock split goes ex-dividend on July 19, according to a spokesperson for brokerage house Charles Schwab.\nThis means that investors can buy NVIDIA shares right up to July 19, and still be eligible to receive the additional shares from the stock split once the shares begin trading on a split-adjusted basis when the market opens July 20.\nIt's also important to point out that this stock split doesn't do anything to change the underlying value of NVIDIA as a company -- it merely cleaves it into a greater number of ownership segments. To this end, it's perhaps no surprise that investors have long ago understood these prospects and reflected this belief into Cloudflare's share price. In fact, Cloudflare is now priced at 53x forward sales making it one of the most expensive SaaS names.</p>\n<p>Having said that, Cloudflare's growth rates continue to be persistently high and stable. Investors interested in Cloudflare will have to adopt a firm buy-and-hold strategy.</p>\n<p><b>Voting Machine vs Weighing Machine</b></p>\n<p>Cloudflare is a Content Delivery Network (''CDN''). Its mission is to make the internet secure, faster, and more reliable.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/0c97ad60d00f39022413a4453bb38d2d\" tg-width=\"635\" tg-height=\"433\"><span>Data by YCharts</span></p>\n<p>This time last year, investors were passionately clamoring for Fastly (FSLY). It was viewed by many as a company that could do no wrong. This year, it's a dramatically different setup as the graph above depicts. Fastly has fallen by the wayside, while Cloudflare is now the reigning champion.</p>\n<p>Investors are voting with their feet to exit Fastly and they are now piling in around Cloudflare.</p>\n<p>As a value investor, I would normally argue that this is likely to once again revert. Here is a quote from Horace that legendary investor Benjamin Graham's investment philosophy was based on:<i>many shall berestoredthat now are fallen and many shall fall that now are in honor.</i></p>\n<p>Having said that, for every snapping one-liner an investor might put out, the real investor's prospects lie in doing the work and attempting to discern the underlying opportunity.</p>\n<p><b>Cloudflare is a High-Quality Business</b></p>\n<p>Cloudflare's non-GAAP gross margins are not only incredibly high, but they are highly stable too.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/161c2d74e08d4ccf531ab30182bd8a62\" tg-width=\"747\" tg-height=\"613\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"></p>\n<p>As a reminder, this compares with Fastly's60.1%as of Q1 2021. On the surface, this is incredibly alluring and is a typical indicator of a high-quality business.</p>\n<p>On the other hand, as we look out to Cloudflare's full-year guidance, its non-GAAP operating margins are expected to come in at<i>a negative 4%</i>. Of course, this is a substantial improvement from the negative 8% from 2020 and puts Cloudflare very close to breakeven.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8a369e8d30ed6115c1e05ca0b8310f0a\" tg-width=\"516\" tg-height=\"237\"><span>Source: Long-Term Model</span></p>\n<p>Nevertheless, to go from<i>negative 4% to positive +20% in operating margins is a very steep climb</i>. So, investors should be cautious and take this guide with a pinch of salt.</p>\n<p>Moving on, its latest sets of results put Cloudflare's dollar-based net retention at 123%. This is an important metric because it not only shows that the company's customer base is sticky but reminds us that Cloudflare is capable of upselling 23% more services to its customers y/y.</p>\n<p>This insight, together with the fact that Cloudflare's paying customers continue to increase, should provide investors with confidence that Cloudflare's business is very healthy, as its revenues are increasing by a mixture of increasing customers and higher prices:</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/6a4e8e1944ecc73a022a5710a3dc07ad\" tg-width=\"640\" tg-height=\"559\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"></p>\n<p>Revenue Growth Rates: Strong and Stable</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/fdc3dff42f73ccfdfc3b2b4f9a0eb65a\" tg-width=\"640\" tg-height=\"285\"><span>Source: author's calculations; **company guidance</span></p>\n<p>Next, we can see above that Cloudflare continues to guide investors for mid-40s% CAGR - at least in the near term.</p>\n<p>Furthermore, knowing how conservative this management is, I suspect that Cloudflare will easily beat these targets and will perhaps even raise its guidance over the coming year.</p>\n<p>Nonetheless, we have to keep in mind that we are still discussing a company that's likely to finish 2021 with close to $600 million in revenues. In other words, growing at mid 40s% while the company is at sub $1 billion in revenues, and continuing to grow at mid-40s% at higher than $1 billion in revenues, it's quite a different feat. At some point, size takes a toll.</p>\n<p><b>Valuation - Not Cheap</b></p>\n<p>Cloudflare is priced at 53x forward sales. This implies that optimism towards Cloudflare is incredibly high. Even amongst SaaS names, I believe this is an outlier. I follow many companies in this space and I don't know of any that are priced as richly as this.</p>\n<p>The obvious comparison here is Fastly which is priced at 18x forward sales. But even amongst the cybersecurity names, a sector that is wildly known for its exuberant valuations the likes of CrowdStrike (CRWD) is priced at 42x sales.</p>\n<p><b>The Bottom Line</b></p>\n<p>Cloudflare is remarkably stable and growing at a rapid rate. Its valuation is not cheap at 53x sales, but there again high-quality companies rarely are. Investors intent on taking a position here may consider buying in dips.</p>\n<p>Having said that, I prefer to stick to companies with more hairs on them and more cheaply valued.
