week. Thi","content":"
Amid great anticipation,Lucid Motors(NASDAQ:LCID) made its stock market debut earlier this week. This comes as the electric vehicle startup closed its merger with Churchill Capital IV and shifted shares from the New York Stock Exchange to the Nasdaq. With LCID trading independently and its Air EV on the way, how high can LCID stock go? This question has investors hunting for Lucid Motors stock price predictions.
\n
As InvestorPlace contributor William White wrote earlier this week,Lucid Motors made a splash in its debut. The company has been drawing retail investor attention since early 2021 when rumors of its SPAC merger first emerged. Importantly, a huge part of the appeal has been hopes thatLucid can dethrone Tesla(NASDAQ:TSLA). Luxury models, an experienced CEO and big backers have contributed to this hype.
\n
Also importantly, when it was trading as CCIV stock, Lucid Motors was on a wild ride. At the peak of the electric vehicle craze, shares traded near the $60 level. Since then though, the company has seen great price volatility. Valuation concerns, production uncertainty and growing competition have been weighing on Lucid.
\n
Now, Lucid Motors has made its independent debut and has ushered in a new era. With that in mind, many retail investors appear interested in the next phase.
\n
So where do things stand now in terms of Lucid Motors stock price predictions?
\n
Lucid Motors Stock Price Predictions: Where Will LCID Go?
\n
For context, LCID stock is currently trading just below $25.
\n
Considering this, not all analysts are bullish on Lucid Motors. InvestorPlacecontributor Alex Sirois thinks the company has short-term catalysts, such as its trading debut and the upcoming Air launch. Sirois therefore anticipates the price to grow in the near term, but warns that the road ahead is rocky for LCID. Moving into September 2021,he says the risks are “obvious.”
\n
Other sites are more bullish. Writing for Market Realist, Ruchi Gupta says that a $100 price target is realistic for LCID stock in thenext two yearsas deliveries kick off.Wallet Investorsees the $120 levelas reachable in the next five years.
\n
So what is the bottom line? This comes as the electric vehicle startup closed its merger with Churchill Capital IV and shifted shares from the New York Stock Exchange to the Nasdaq. With LCID trading independently and its Air EV on the way, how high can LCID stock go? This question has investors hunting for Lucid Motors stock price predictions.\nAs InvestorPlace contributor William White wrote earlier this week,Lucid Motors made a splash in its debut. The company has been drawing retail investor attention since early 2021 when rumors of its SPAC merger first emerged. Importantly, a huge part of the appeal has been hopes thatLucid can dethrone Tesla(NASDAQ:TSLA). Luxury models, an experienced CEO and big backers have contributed to this hype.\nAlso importantly, when it was trading as CCIV stock, Lucid Motors was on a wild ride. At the peak of the electric vehicle craze, shares traded near the $60 level. Since then though, the company has seen great price volatility. Valuation concerns, production uncertainty and growing competition have been weighing on Lucid.\nNow, Lucid Motors has made its independent debut and has ushered in a new era. With that in mind, many retail investors appear interested in the next phase.\nSo where do things stand now in terms of Lucid Motors stock price predictions?\nLucid Motors Stock Price Predictions: Where Will LCID Go?\nFor context, LCID stock is currently trading just below $25.\nConsidering this, not all analysts are bullish on Lucid Motors. InvestorPlacecontributor Alex Sirois thinks the company has short-term catalysts, such as its trading debut and the upcoming Air launch. Sirois therefore anticipates the price to grow in the near term, but warns that the road ahead is rocky for LCID. Moving into September 2021,he says the risks are “obvious.”\nOther sites are more bullish. Writing for Market Realist, Ruchi Gupta says that a $100 price target is realistic for LCID stock in thenext two yearsas deliveries kick off.Wallet Investorsees the $120 levelas reachable in the next five years.\nSo what is the bottom line? Lucid Motors stock price predictions are all over the place, and that speaks to several unknowns right now. Investors are excited about its promise and the upcoming Air launch, but are waiting for more concrete detailsbefore making their projections. Plus, key names on Wall Street have yet to initiate coverage, so some in the retail crowd may be waiting to see what direction the professionals take.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":693,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":156261817,"gmtCreate":1625225971639,"gmtModify":1633942371923,"author":{"id":"3559184232008563","authorId":"3559184232008563","name":"小白胖子","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c4b3188ec4f41ed806978089afa5f7c8","crmLevel":8,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3559184232008563","idStr":"3559184232008563"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"No big deal right?","listText":"No big deal right?","text":"No big deal right?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/156261817","repostId":"1195364777","repostType":2,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":320,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":151652009,"gmtCreate":1625090448401,"gmtModify":1633945038026,"author":{"id":"3559184232008563","authorId":"3559184232008563","name":"小白胖子","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c4b3188ec4f41ed806978089afa5f7c8","crmLevel":8,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3559184232008563","idStr":"3559184232008563"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good job.","listText":"Good job.","text":"Good job.","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/151652009","repostId":"1121473384","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":586,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":130314543,"gmtCreate":1621512495382,"gmtModify":1634188548930,"author":{"id":"3559184232008563","authorId":"3559184232008563","name":"小白胖子","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c4b3188ec4f41ed806978089afa5f7c8","crmLevel":8,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3559184232008563","idStr":"3559184232008563"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Buy the dip ","listText":"Buy the dip ","text":"Buy the dip","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/130314543","repostId":"1123155606","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1123155606","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1621511400,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1123155606?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-05-20 19:50","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Tesla could shed another $110 before it finds support, analyst warns","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1123155606","media":"CNBC","summary":"The stock has fallen 4% since Monday, extending a sell-off that has dragged shares down nearly 40% from a high set in January. The latest sell-off is tied to the sharp drop inbitcoin– Tesla CEO Elon Musk last week said the company would reverse a decision to allow purchases made with the cryptocurrency, but since clarified it will still hold its investment in the coin.\nTesla could see more pain, warned one chart watcher.\n“It broke below trend, and we have to remember, when we analyze stocks such as Tesla, they are prone to overreact — overreact on the upside, as well as overreact on the downside,” said JC O’Hara, chief market technician at MKM Partners.\n\n“When Tesla was in an uptrend, above its 200-day moving average, those overreactions were indeed positive and we just look back to January to see how stretched it can get. Now trends have shifted, breaking below the 200-day moving average, breaking below a long-term uptrend. So I believe the overreaction will be to the downside,” O’Hara told CNBC’s “Trading Nation” on Wednesday.\nShares have fallen 20% this year, the worst performance in the S&P 100. It has also broken below its 50-day and 200-day moving average.\n“We’re right around $550 right now, good place for a short little bounce, but I would want to see the overreaction down to $450. I think that’s the proper level to get back involved with Tesla,” he said.\nA move to $450 implies another 20% downside. It last traded at that level last November. It closed Wednesday just above $563.\nDelano Saporu, founder of New Street Advisors, says the tide has turned against all growth stocks — and Tesla is particularly susceptible as a well-known name in the group.\n“The backdrop is really against Tesla right now, for a lot of growth names, so we’re seeing the sellers come out in force. And I think the one thing that would kind of bring buyers out, especially myself, would be looking at the valuation,” Saporu said during the same interview.\nTesla trades at 109 times forward earnings, well above the 21 times forward multiple for the S&P 500.\n“We had strong earnings from Tesla and that still didn’t move the stock higher. Everything else in the backdrop is just against some of these growth names right now,” said Saporu.\nTesla reported record net income and 74% revenue growth in its March-ended quarter.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":310,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":193647729,"gmtCreate":1620787059561,"gmtModify":1634196299884,"author":{"id":"3559184232008563","authorId":"3559184232008563","name":"小白胖子","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c4b3188ec4f41ed806978089afa5f7c8","crmLevel":8,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3559184232008563","idStr":"3559184232008563"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nonsense","listText":"Nonsense","text":"Nonsense","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/193647729","repostId":"2134698127","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2134698127","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1620779160,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2134698127?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-05-12 08:26","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Here's why this trader is shorting Apple stock and buying gold","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2134698127","media":"Yahoo Finance","summary":"The Nasdaq Composite managed to claw back most of its losses Tuesday after falling 2.2% shortly after the open. But that doesn't mean the index itself or the tech sector stocks that populate it are out of the woods. To the contrary, one trader is seeing short opportunities in not only the Nasdaq, but it's biggest component, Apple (AAPL).

Tech stocks have been lagging the Dow and S&P 500 this year, but JC Parets, founder of allstarcharts.com, explains to Yahoo Finance Live that this phenomenon stretches back to the end of the second quarter of 2020.

\"The underperformance started [on] Labor Day last year at the end of the summer, and that's when they all peaked ... Amazon has done nothing since then. It's not just tech [stocks], it's really big growth [stocks] and even small cap growth [stocks]. Growth in general peaked at the end of last summer — Apple, Amazon (AMZN), all of them on a relative basis.\"

The two biggest outperforming S&P 500 sectors this year are energy and financials. The Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) is up 38% and the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) is up 26% year-to-date. Parets says, \"[T]he big winners have been coming out of value [stocks] ... Financials, Berkshire [Hathaway], energy ... Those have been the winners. The losers have been the growth stocks.\"

2021 is not 2020

Parets also notes the different market environment this year compared to last year — a phenomenon many investors may not be noticing. \"There's so much more evidence that 2021 is just not what 2020 was, right? It is a completely different type of market, and some investors are able to adjust and see the information coming in and act accordingly. And some investors just like to sit on their hands and hope that last year's market was going to continue to be this year's market. I see it every day, and they're paying a price for it,\" he says.

Parets outlines his trading style using the recent highs of certain trading instruments as a line in the sand. If the price is below the level, he's thinking bearishly. \"[If the index level is] below the February highs in small caps or the Nasdaq, under no circumstances can we be long ... Bottom line is there's no reason to be long if the Nasdaq or small caps are below those February highs.\"

Apple stock, like many of its peers, has gone largely sideways since September despite making a nominal record high in January. Parets likes a short in Apple based on its relative underperformance, and issues a warning to fund managers who may be loading up on growth stocks at the expense of risk management.

JC Parets breaks down an Apple short

\"I'm hearing that [Ark Investment Management CEO] Cathie Wood considers Apple her cash equivalent. That's pretty scary if you ask me. So, I really like the short a lot. Notice those September highs — where we got to in September was 138. We tried to get back there in January and failed. Most recently, we tried to get back there last month and failed, again. That's the level, 138. If you're below 138, under no circumstances can you own Apple ... I prefer to be short. And how low could it go? ... I could go real low. Why can't it get back toward 100?\" says Parets.

Gold making a comeback

Parets also highlights how defensive sectors and instruments have been perking up since the March lows. He uses a generalized trading maxim to illustrate how the trends in defensive stocks morphed from bearish to bullish.

\"First thing assets need to do before they [start going up] is to stop going down. And over the last year, what were the worst assets? Bonds, yen, gold, staples on a relative bases. All the defensive areas were the worst place to be. And that changed in the first quarter of this year. They stopped going down, and over the last couple months, they've actually been going up,\" says Parets.

When it comes to things that have started to go up, Parets is looking at playing gold. \"We've been bullish gold. That trade's been working — not just the metal, also the [gold] miners as well. Yen stopped going down, bonds stopped going down. They're not really going up, but they're not going down either. And [with consumer] staples, utilities, [and] REITs outperforming, does that remind you of an environment where stocks are doing well? But that doesn't mean the index itself or the tech sector stocks that populate it are out of the woods. To the contrary, one trader is seeing short opportunities in not only the Nasdaq, but it's biggest component, Apple (AAPL).Tech stocks have been lagging the Dow and S&P 500 this year, but JC Parets, founder of allstarcharts.com, explains to Yahoo Finance Live that this phenomenon stretches back to the end of the second quarter of 2020.\"The underperformance started [on] Labor Day last year at the end of the summer, and that's when they all peaked ... Amazon has done nothing since then. It's not just tech [stocks], it's really big growth [stocks] and even small cap growth [stocks]. Growth in general peaked at the end of last summer — Apple, Amazon (AMZN), all of them on a relative basis.\"The two biggest outperforming S&P 500 sectors this year are energy and financials. The losers have been the growth stocks.\"2021 is not 2020Parets also notes the different market environment this year compared to last year — a phenomenon many investors may not be noticing. \"There's so much more evidence that 2021 is just not what 2020 was, right? It is a completely different type of market, and some investors are able to adjust and see the information coming in and act accordingly. And some investors just like to sit on their hands and hope that last year's market was going to continue to be this year's market. I see it every day, and they're paying a price for it,\" he says.Parets outlines his trading style using the recent highs of certain trading instruments as a line in the sand. If the price is below the level, he's thinking bearishly. \"[If the index level is] below the February highs in small caps or the Nasdaq, under no circumstances can we be long ... Bottom line is there's no reason to be long if the Nasdaq or small caps are below those February highs.\"Apple stock, like many of its peers, has gone largely sideways since September despite making a nominal record high in January. Parets likes a short in Apple based on its relative underperformance, and issues a warning to fund managers who may be loading up on growth stocks at the expense of risk management.JC Parets breaks down an Apple short\"I'm hearing that [Ark Investment Management CEO] Cathie Wood considers Apple her cash equivalent. Why can't it get back toward 100?\" says Parets.Gold making a comebackParets also highlights how defensive sectors and instruments have been perking up since the March lows. He uses a generalized trading maxim to illustrate how the trends in defensive stocks morphed from bearish to bullish.\"First thing assets need to do before they [start going up] is to stop going down. Or should they be doing poorly?\" he asks.Separately, Lee Munson, president and CIO at Portfolio Wealth Advisors, is also telling Yahoo Finance Live he likes gold as an investment because the environment for the precious metal has fundamentally changed. \"What moved gold in the past is not what is moving it right now. We have had a regime change. Generally, I see gold as something that tends to go up when the Fed's balance sheet expands. Some people think the balance sheet can't expand anymore. And it's no secret that Chinese EV stocks were some of the most popular, as the largest automotive market in the world continues to move toward electrification in its transportation sector.
\n
EV sales in China surpassed 1 million in 2020, and the government hopes to grow that to 5 million by 2025. It could reach 10 million by 2030, and approach 20 million by 2040, according to research organization BloombergNEF. Two electric automakers looking to capitalize on that expansion are NIO (NYSE:NIO) and XPeng (NYSE:XPEV). Investors may be wondering which is the better buy, particularly after a correction has hit share prices in the sector.
\n
The right market
\n
As noted above, the largest automotive market in the world has much potential forEV growth. The problem is, there will be plenty of companies seeking to capitalize.Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) built its second manufacturing plant in Shanghai for a reason. And though they're maybe the most well-known Chinese EV makers, NIO and XPeng combined delivered only slightly more than half the 131,000 battery-electric vehicles that BYD (OTC:BYDDY) sold in 2020.
\n
NIO reached almost 44,000 vehicles delivered in 2020, while XPeng more than doubled its volume versus 2019 to 27,041. Both companies have recently introduced sedan models that each hopes will be significant drivers of future sales growth.
\n
XPeng's P7 sports sedan has surpassed a total of 20,000 cumulative deliveries since its launch in early 2020, as it moves ahead of the G3 compact SUV as the company's most popular vehicle. That marked the fastest pace to 20,000 vehicle deliveries of any Chinese EV start-up.
\n
NIO introduced its new ET7 luxury sedan earlier this year. The ET7 will be available early next year, and has some intricate features. The sleek exterior includes autonomous driving sensors, a \"crystal-like heartbeat\" tail light, all-glass roof, and a digital entry system that extends the flush handle and automatically releases the door's \"e-latch\" as the driver approaches.
\n
Priced for perfection
\n
The strong sales growth along with massive potential for Chinese EVs had investors already piling into these stocks. But after shares of both NIO and XPeng soared last year, the stocks are off January 2021 highs by 27% and 38% respectively, making now a good time to see which may be the better buy.
\n
Neither company is profitable yet, so one way to measure valuations is using sales rather than earnings. The price-to-sales ratios (P/S) are both very high, but sales are expected to grow quickly, and it's a relevant metric for comparing the two companies.
\n
NIO MARKET CAP DATA BY YCHARTS
\n
Though NIO has the higher market cap, it is less expensive than XPeng as measured by the P/S ratio. NIO also has a unique approach to the market with its battery swap program, which allows customers to \"recharge\" via a faster battery exchange. The company says its automated battery swap stations take only three minutes to produce a fully charged battery replacement.
\n
Looking ahead
\n
NIO's push into the luxury sedan segment with its ET7 could help advance the company to the next level. Gross margins, gross profit, and operating cash flow went positive in 2020, indicating the path to profitability is in sight.
\n
Both companies look to be adequately capitalized to fund planned growth efforts. As of Dec. 31, 2020, NIO had $6.5 billion in cash and cash equivalents, restricted cash, and short-term investment on its balance sheet, and XPeng had about $5.4 billion. The companies could raise more money by listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, which is reportedly being considered by both.
\n
For investors looking to pick just one holding to participate in Chinese EV growth, NIO appears to be the better option of these two companies. Any investment still belongs in the speculative portion of a portfolio, with the potential for much volatility. But for those who can stomach that, and have an appropriate portion invested, the recent drop in shares helps make NIO a better buy than XPeng right now.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Better Buy: NIO vs. XPeng Motors
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nBetter Buy: NIO vs. XPeng Motors\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-03-15 09:22 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
The Chinese electric-vehicle makers both have rich valuations, even after a downturn in share prices.\nStocks of electric-vehicle (EV) makers accelerated in 2020. The sleek exterior includes autonomous driving sensors, a \"crystal-like heartbeat\" tail light, all-glass roof, and a digital entry system that extends the flush handle and automatically releases the door's \"e-latch\" as the driver approaches.\nPriced for perfection\nThe strong sales growth along with massive potential for Chinese EVs had investors already piling into these stocks. But after shares of both NIO and XPeng soared last year, the stocks are off January 2021 highs by 27% and 38% respectively, making now a good time to see which may be the better buy.\nNeither company is profitable yet, so one way to measure valuations is using sales rather than earnings. The price-to-sales ratios (P/S) are both very high, but sales are expected to grow quickly, and it's a relevant metric for comparing the two companies.\nNIO MARKET CAP DATA BY YCHARTS\nThough NIO has the higher market cap, it is less expensive than XPeng as measured by the P/S ratio. NIO also has a unique approach to the market with its battery swap program, which allows customers to \"recharge\" via a faster battery exchange. The company says its automated battery swap stations take only three minutes to produce a fully charged battery replacement.\nLooking ahead\nNIO's push into the luxury sedan segment with its ET7 could help advance the company to the next level. Gross margins, gross profit, and operating cash flow went positive in 2020, indicating the path to profitability is in sight.\nBoth companies look to be adequately capitalized to fund planned growth efforts. As of Dec. 31, 2020, NIO had $6.5 billion in cash and cash equivalents, restricted cash, and short-term investment on its balance sheet, and XPeng had about $5.4 billion. The companies could raise more money by listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, which is reportedly being considered by both.\nFor investors looking to pick just one holding to participate in Chinese EV growth, NIO appears to be the better option of these two companies. Any investment still belongs in the speculative portion of a portfolio, with the potential for much volatility. But for those who can stomach that, and have an appropriate portion invested, the recent drop in shares helps make NIO a better buy than XPeng right now.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":196,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":321733315,"gmtCreate":1615469087737,"gmtModify":1703489477116,"author":{"id":"3559184232008563","authorId":"3559184232008563","name":"小白胖子","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c4b3188ec4f41ed806978089afa5f7c8","crmLevel":8,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3559184232008563","idStr":"3559184232008563"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"All the way to the moon","listText":"All the way to the moon","text":"All the way to the moon","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/321733315","repostId":"1115960803","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1115960803","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1615468667,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1115960803?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-03-11 21:17","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Watch Apple, Tesla and these other tech stocks for signals the bull market will keep charging, says analyst","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1115960803","media":"MarketWatch","summary":"Critical information for the U.S. trading day\nInvestors should watch tech stock favorites as bull ma","content":"
Critical information for the U.S. trading day
\n
Investors should watch tech stock favorites as bull market bellwethers.
\n
Concerns about inflation were tempered on Wednesday by data showing just a 0.1% rise in core consumer prices last month, helping stocks rally and bond yields ease.
\n
The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished above 32,000 points for the first time and bond yields are falling globally. The companies worked with Israel’s Health Ministry on the preliminary observational analysis, which wasn’t peer-reviewed. Some scientists disputed its accuracy.
\n
The results, also reported in Der Spiegel, are the latest in aseries of positive data to emerge out of Israel, which has given more Covid vaccines per capita than anywhere else in the world. Almost half of the population has had at least one dose of vaccine. Separately, Israeli authorities on Saturday said the Pfizer-BioNTech shot was 99% effective at preventing deaths from the virus.
\n
If confirmed, the early results on lab-tested infections are encouraging because they indicate the vaccine may also prevent asymptomatic carriers from spreading the virus that causes Covid-19. Spokespeople declined to comment on unpublished data.
\n
The study wasn’t designed to accurately measure a reduction in transmission of SARS-CoV-2 because it used national testing data without accounting for differences in testing rates between vaccinated and unvaccinated people, said Zoe McLaren, an associate professor in the school of public policy at the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
\n
“The main result overstates the reduction in transmission from the Pfizer vaccine,” McLaren said in an email.
\n
The study compares the number of reported cases between those who had been fully vaccinated and those who hadn’t been vaccinated, but vaccinated people are less likely to get tested so the data will undercount cases, especially asymptomatic cases, in this group, she said.
\n
‘Need More Evidence’
\n
“That means that the true reduction in transmission is lower than the estimate of 89.4%,” McLaren said. “How much lower? We need more evidence to know for sure. But I expect that, once we account for the bias, we’ll still find that this vaccine does reduce transmission. And that would be very good news.”
\n
About 80% of SARS-CoV-2 cases in Israel during the time period of the study, from Jan. 17 to Feb. 6, were caused by the more transmissible strain first identified in the U.K. Israel’s vaccination drive began just before the so-called B.1.1.7 variant emerged, fueling infections and leading to a third lockdown on Jan. 8.
\n
Through Feb. 6, about 27% of peopleaged15 and older in Israel were fully vaccinated, with the Pfizer-BioNTech shot the only vaccine available in the country at the time. People were considered fully vaccinated and included in the analysis if the data collected were more than seven days after they received their second dose.
\n
Based on SARS-CoV-2’s infectiousness, a vaccine that is 89% effective at preventing infection is likely to be effective at eliminating Covid-19 in a population in which high vaccination coverage is achieved, said Helen Petousis-Harris, a vaccinologist at the University of Auckland.
\n
Elimination of Covid-19 will depend on potential “reservoirs” of SARS-CoV-2 in animals, genetic changes in the virus that might enable it to escape vaccine-induced immunity, and the ability to stop transmission across the world, said Petousis-Harris, who is co-leader of the Global Vaccine Data Network, a multinational group that collaborates on vaccine safety studies.
","source":"lsy1584095487587","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Spokespeople declined to comment on unpublished data.\nThe study wasn’t designed to accurately measure a reduction in transmission of SARS-CoV-2 because it used national testing data without accounting for differences in testing rates between vaccinated and unvaccinated people, said Zoe McLaren, an associate professor in the school of public policy at the University of Maryland Baltimore County.\n“The main result overstates the reduction in transmission from the Pfizer vaccine,” McLaren said in an email.\nThe study compares the number of reported cases between those who had been fully vaccinated and those who hadn’t been vaccinated, but vaccinated people are less likely to get tested so the data will undercount cases, especially asymptomatic cases, in this group, she said.\n‘Need More Evidence’\n“That means that the true reduction in transmission is lower than the estimate of 89.4%,” McLaren said. “How much lower? We need more evidence to know for sure. But I expect that, once we account for the bias, we’ll still find that this vaccine does reduce transmission. And that would be very good news.”\nAbout 80% of SARS-CoV-2 cases in Israel during the time period of the study, from Jan. 17 to Feb. 6, were caused by the more transmissible strain first identified in the U.K. Israel’s vaccination drive began just before the so-called B.1.1.7 variant emerged, fueling infections and leading to a third lockdown on Jan. 8.\nThrough Feb. 6, about 27% of peopleaged15 and older in Israel were fully vaccinated, with the Pfizer-BioNTech shot the only vaccine available in the country at the time. People were considered fully vaccinated and included in the analysis if the data collected were more than seven days after they received their second dose.\nBased on SARS-CoV-2’s infectiousness, a vaccine that is 89% effective at preventing infection is likely to be effective at eliminating Covid-19 in a population in which high vaccination coverage is achieved, said Helen Petousis-Harris, a vaccinologist at the University of Auckland.\nElimination of Covid-19 will depend on potential “reservoirs” of SARS-CoV-2 in animals, genetic changes in the virus that might enable it to escape vaccine-induced immunity, and the ability to stop transmission across the world, said Petousis-Harris, who is co-leader of the Global Vaccine Data Network, a multinational group that collaborates on vaccine safety studies.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":296,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":605129024,"gmtCreate":1639131630939,"gmtModify":1639131631039,"author":{"id":"3559184232008563","authorId":"3559184232008563","name":"小白胖子","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c4b3188ec4f41ed806978089afa5f7c8","crmLevel":8,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3559184232008563","authorIdStr":"3559184232008563"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"It will rebound back soon","listText":"It will rebound back soon","text":"It will rebound back soon","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/605129024","repostId":"1133845166","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1133845166","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1639130022,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1133845166?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-12-10 17:53","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Grab shares dropped another 2% in premarket trading","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1133845166","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Grab shares dropped another 2% in premarket trading. The stock fell more than 9% yesterday.","content":"
Grab shares dropped another 2% in premarket trading. The stock fell more than 9% yesterday.
\n

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; This comes as the electric vehicle startup closed its merger with Churchill Capital IV and shifted shares from the New York Stock Exchange to the Nasdaq.
Plus, key names on Wall Street have yet to initiate coverage, so some in the retail crowd may be waiting to see what direction the professionals take.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":693,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":151652009,"gmtCreate":1625090448401,"gmtModify":1633945038026,"author":{"id":"3559184232008563","authorId":"3559184232008563","name":"小白胖子","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c4b3188ec4f41ed806978089afa5f7c8","crmLevel":8,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3559184232008563","authorIdStr":"3559184232008563"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good job.","listText":"Good job.","text":"Good job.","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/151652009","repostId":"1121473384","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1121473384","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1625067394,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1121473384?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-30 23:36","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Why NIO Stock Is Moving Higher Today","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1121473384","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"A bullish note from Wall Street is raising expectations ahead of NIO's June sales report.Shares of Chinese electric-vehicle maker NIOwere moving higher in early trading on Wednesday, after a Wall Street analyst raised his bank's price target for the shares in a bullish note.As of 11:35 a.m. EDT, NIO's American depositary shares were up about 5.9% from Tuesday's closing price. In a note released on Tuesday afternoon. The electric vehicle maker has been battered by bears over the past three months, driving prices lower by nearly 50%. But support has sprung up at the 200-day moving average as long-term bulls come to its defense. With earnings coming around the corner for NIO stock, traders may not need to wait long for a resolution to the tug-of-war.

Source: xiaorui / Shutterstock.com

Today we’ll help you make a better decision on if, when and how you should trade NIO. The price is forming a textbook descending triangle pattern. That makes it easy to identify which price levels matter. Whether you bet with the bulls or the bears ultimately comes down to whether support or resistance blinks first.

Before dissecting the daily pattern, let’s first look at the weekly view to chronicle Nio’s journey thus far.

Examining the NIO Stock ChartsSource: The thinkorswim® platform from TD Ameritrade

Traders are relearning that momentum is a double-edged sword. If you’re going to be a long-term investor in riskier, high-growth stocks, then you have to be willing to stomach some gut-wrenching bear markets along the way. Watching your beloved investment lose half of its value in a few short months is difficult, but what do you expect out of a stock like NIO, which ballooned from $2 to $66?

Even after the recent thrashing, it’s still up an epic amount since last March’s trough.

One of the drawbacks to a parabolic ascent is it doesn’t leave much support when the stock finally turns lower. As a result, the inevitable correction is often quite severe. With the current decline, NIO broke its 20-week moving average and a prior support pivot. That makes this more than a garden variety pullback. But since we’re still above the rising 50-week average, I’d stop short of saying the weekly trend is decisively bearish.

Sellers hold the upper hand, but there’s still a chance this is a longer-term buying opportunity. Fortunately, the daily chart reveals the detail needed for mapping out a trade.

The dominant pattern on the daily time frame is a descending triangle pattern. It consists of a series of lower pivot highs that show overhead supply is increasing. Traders are officially in “sell the rallies” mode.

Until that reverses, it’s hard to get excited about the bullish prospects for Nio stock. It could be worse, though. Buyers are aggressively defending $34, which also hosts the 200-day moving average. With the apex of the triangle fast approaching, we should see resolution (up or down) soon.

Source: The thinkorswim® platform from TD Ameritrade

If we don’t see a breakout in the next week, the upcoming earnings announcement is sure to be the catalyst that completes the triangle.

Trading Choices

Guessing the direction of the eventual breakout is risky. Instead, I suggest waiting for confirmation to increase your odds of success. That ultimately leaves us with two trade ideas: one for bulls and one for bears.

Bulls should consider waiting until we breach resistance at $39.50 or $42. Pushing above either level will finally interrupt the series of lower pivot highs that has been in place since the stock peaked. If you want to keep the trade simple, buy shares. The electric vehicle maker has been battered by bears over the past three months, driving prices lower by nearly 50%. But support has sprung up at the 200-day moving average as long-term bulls come to its defense. With earnings coming around the corner for NIO stock, traders may not need to wait long for a resolution to the tug-of-war.Source: xiaorui / Shutterstock.comToday we’ll help you make a better decision on if, when and how you should trade NIO. The price is forming a textbook descending triangle pattern. That makes it easy to identify which price levels matter. Whether you bet with the bulls or the bears ultimately comes down to whether support or resistance blinks first. Before dissecting the daily pattern, let’s first look at the weekly view to chronicle Nio’s journey thus far.Examining the NIO Stock ChartsSource: The thinkorswim® platform from TD AmeritradeTraders are relearning that momentum is a double-edged sword. If you’re going to be a long-term investor in riskier, high-growth stocks, then you have to be willing to stomach some gut-wrenching bear markets along the way. Watching your beloved investment lose half of its value in a few short months is difficult, but what do you expect out of a stock like NIO, which ballooned from $2 to $66?Even after the recent thrashing, it’s still up an epic amount since last March’s trough. But since we’re still above the rising 50-week average, I’d stop short of saying the weekly trend is decisively bearish.Sellers hold the upper hand, but there’s still a chance this is a longer-term buying opportunity. Fortunately, the daily chart reveals the detail needed for mapping out a trade. The dominant pattern on the daily time frame is a descending triangle pattern. It consists of a series of lower pivot highs that show overhead supply is increasing. Traders are officially in “sell the rallies” mode.Until that reverses, it’s hard to get excited about the bullish prospects for Nio stock. It could be worse, though. Buyers are aggressively defending $34, which also hosts the 200-day moving average. With the apex of the triangle fast approaching, we should see resolution (up or down) soon.Source: The thinkorswim® platform from TD AmeritradeIf we don’t see a breakout in the next week, the upcoming earnings announcement is sure to be the catalyst that completes the triangle.Trading ChoicesGuessing the direction of the eventual breakout is risky. Instead, I suggest waiting for confirmation to increase your odds of success. That ultimately leaves us with two trade ideas: one for bulls and one for bears.Bulls should consider waiting until we breach resistance at $39.50 or $42. Pushing above either level will finally interrupt the series of lower pivot highs that has been in place since the stock peaked. If you want to keep the trade simple, buy shares. Otherwise, bull call spreads offer a more leveraged route. For those looking to game the next down-leg, you must wait for a break of $34. History has proven there’s heavy demand for the stock at this price level. If it’s taken out, NIO stock has a straight shot to $29.The wild card for both plays is the upcoming earnings report. The stock is now in bear market territory, having pulled back 35.7 % from the Feb. 10 high of $64.60.

Is the sell-off in the shares justified? Did fundamentals flash the red light to investors, who were thronging to the stock in droves ahead of the current downturn?

The 2020 Highs: The COVID-19 pandemic, which broke out at the end of 2019 and ravaged the global economies for much of 2020, proved a blessing for some companies that benefited from the adversity.

Nio, a luxury EV maker, should have taken a big hit in the year, as cash-strapped users preferred to hold back on big-ticket buys. The company did have its momentum of despair in the first two months of 2020. Not bogged down by the adverse geopolitical milieu, the EV startup chose to be proactive instead. The company announced several innovative product andservice offerings.

Deliveries continued to climb through the year, with Nio's charismatic CEO William Bin attributing the strength to the growing recognition of its premium brand, the competitive and compelling products and services, the expanding sales network, and most importantly, the support from its passionate and loyal user community.

For 2020, Nio delivered 43,728 vehicles, an increase of 111% year-over-year.

The company also managed to rein in costs, giving margins a lift. It also succeeded in mobilizing finances through a combination of equity, debt and strategic investments, removing a key existential risk it faced in 2019.

Promptly the stock began discounting the fundamental improvement and closed out 2020 with a gain in excess of 1,100%. The strong rally stretched valuation to levels, with some skeptics beginning to question the irrational exuberance in the stock.

Fundamentals, Stock Pause At Start of 2021: Nio had a strong start to the year, as it continued to clock record monthly deliveries in January. The stock raced to a record high of $66.99 on Jan. 11, as it reacted to the announcements the company made at the annual Nio Day held on Jan. 10.

Thereafter, it has been a bumpy ride for the stock. Since the start of February, the stock has been caught in the vortex of the tech sell-off. Incidentally, market leader and EV pioneerTesla, Inc.TSLAwas not spared either. Since the all-time split-adjusted high of $900.40 hit in late January, Tesla shares have given back over 30%.

Nio investors were pinning their hopes on a stellar fourth-quarter report to lift the stock from the depressed levels. It was not to be. The stock continued to bleed despite the EV maker reporting $1 billion revenues for the quarter and seeing an expansion in gross margins.

Naysayers were quick to highlight the wider-than-expected loss and the month-over-month drop in deliveries.

As outlined by Deutsche Bank Securities analyst Edison Yu, the underperformance on the bottom line had to do with forex losses, engendered by a weaker dollar.

Although initially Nio did not explain away the February softness, it later clarified in a blog post the weeklong Lunar New Year holiday that fell in the month played spoilsport.

\"The majority of the employees receive seven days off work as a public holiday to spend time with their families, though the celebrations can last for more than two weeks nationwide. Most of the factories were shut down for weeks, and many products that rely on shipping and manufacturing might have been delayed,\" Nio said in the post.

Is Recovery In The Cards: The company has several catalysts ahead, including the launch of its first sedan, named ET7, and its plan to expand into Europe this year. The stock is now in bear market territory, having pulled back 35.7 % from the Feb. 10 high of $64.60.Is the sell-off in the shares justified? Did fundamentals flash the red light to investors, who were thronging to the stock in droves ahead of the current downturn? The 2020 Highs: The COVID-19 pandemic, which broke out at the end of 2019 and ravaged the global economies for much of 2020, proved a blessing for some companies that benefited from the adversity.Nio, a luxury EV maker, should have taken a big hit in the year, as cash-strapped users preferred to hold back on big-ticket buys. The company did have its momentum of despair in the first two months of 2020. Not bogged down by the adverse geopolitical milieu, the EV startup chose to be proactive instead. The company announced several innovative product andservice offerings.Deliveries continued to climb through the year, with Nio's charismatic CEO William Bin attributing the strength to the growing recognition of its premium brand, the competitive and compelling products and services, the expanding sales network, and most importantly, the support from its passionate and loyal user community. For 2020, Nio delivered 43,728 vehicles, an increase of 111% year-over-year.The company also managed to rein in costs, giving margins a lift. It also succeeded in mobilizing finances through a combination of equity, debt and strategic investments, removing a key existential risk it faced in 2019.Promptly the stock began discounting the fundamental improvement and closed out 2020 with a gain in excess of 1,100%. The strong rally stretched valuation to levels, with some skeptics beginning to question the irrational exuberance in the stock.Fundamentals, Stock Pause At Start of 2021: Nio had a strong start to the year, as it continued to clock record monthly deliveries in January. The stock raced to a record high of $66.99 on Jan. 11, as it reacted to the announcements the company made at the annual Nio Day held on Jan. 10.Thereafter, it has been a bumpy ride for the stock. Since the start of February, the stock has been caught in the vortex of the tech sell-off. Incidentally, market leader and EV pioneerTesla, Inc.TSLAwas not spared either. Since the all-time split-adjusted high of $900.40 hit in late January, Tesla shares have given back over 30%.Nio investors were pinning their hopes on a stellar fourth-quarter report to lift the stock from the depressed levels. It was not to be. The stock continued to bleed despite the EV maker reporting $1 billion revenues for the quarter and seeing an expansion in gross margins.Naysayers were quick to highlight the wider-than-expected loss and the month-over-month drop in deliveries. As outlined by Deutsche Bank Securities analyst Edison Yu, the underperformance on the bottom line had to do with forex losses, engendered by a weaker dollar.Although initially Nio did not explain away the February softness, it later clarified in a blog post the weeklong Lunar New Year holiday that fell in the month played spoilsport.\"The majority of the employees receive seven days off work as a public holiday to spend time with their families, though the celebrations can last for more than two weeks nationwide. Most of the factories were shut down for weeks, and many products that rely on shipping and manufacturing might have been delayed,\" Nio said in the post.Is Recovery In The Cards: The company has several catalysts ahead, including the launch of its first sedan, named ET7, and its plan to expand into Europe this year. The company is also making solid progress with respect to its advanced driver-assisted system, battery technology and battery swapping stations. With the increasing uptake of its battery-as-a-service offering and its recently announced autonomous driving-as-a-service, the company has laid the groundwork for recurrent revenue streams. This apart, the attractive market opportunity presented by the burgeoning EV market, both domestically and globally, will prove salubrious for the company. There is no denying the fact that EV manufacturing is turning out to be a crowded field. However, early entrants such as Nio are at an advantage, given their experiences in grinding it out in the early stages.Patient investors, who are willing to ride out the trying times, could be in for rich rewards when things settle down.Nio shares closed down 5.5% at $39.28, with the stock dropping below the $40 handle for the first time since mid-December.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":233,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":156261817,"gmtCreate":1625225971639,"gmtModify":1633942371923,"author":{"id":"3559184232008563","authorId":"3559184232008563","name":"小白胖子","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c4b3188ec4f41ed806978089afa5f7c8","crmLevel":8,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3559184232008563","authorIdStr":"3559184232008563"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"No
