It saw 10.1M downloads in February (about 0.67x Netflix's global download rate), vs. 16.6M in January, with the help of new content in the form of<i>WandaVision.</i>Meanwhile thelaunch of general-entertainment brand Star came on Feb. 23in several countries, with more to come later this year (including a Star Plus stand-alone service in Latin America).</p>\n<p>Disney wasn't the only one with a growth story in February, BofA notes: Eight of the 12 media/entertainment companies tracked saw year-over-year growth in downloads, led by AT&T and its HBO Max, MGM and its Epix Now, and Discovery with Discovery Plus, while the biggest year-over-year declines came for Formula One and Manchester United.</p>\n<p>HBO Max has seen some particular recent momentum with the plan torelease Warner Bros. movies day-and-date on HBO Max along with theaters, and its downloads increased 818% to 2.2M in February (vs. HBO Now downloads a year ago). Discovery Plus drew 3.1M downloads in February, in line with itsJanuary launch month- with the help of promotions such as Verizon offering it to 50M wireless subs.</p>\n<p>February's other big streaming news came with therollout of Paramount Plus by ViacomCBS (VIAC,VIACA), which launches March 4. The company is projecting $7B in streaming and digital ad revenue with 65M-75M subscribers by the end of 2024. BofA's take: \"While VIAC highlighted a large breadth of content coming to Paramount Plus along with positive announcements related to Showtime and Pluto, VIAC’s streaming efforts (primarily related to Paramount Plus) create cannibalization risks to the company’s content licensing, pay-tv retrans/affiliate fees and advertising streams.\"</p>\n<p>And in music, comparing seven streaming services shows download growth from last February for Amazon.com(NASDAQ:AMZN)while other experienced decreases.
